Hi everyone.  Not much new to write about today.  We did have a good choir practice last night and will have another tonight.  Our Christmas music is coming together very nicely.

Our grandson is coming over around noon to clean the house.  It has been a little longer than my wife likes to have since the last good cleaning but we don't really mess it up very much.  It will be nice to have everything nice and clean again.  I just now dusted and straightened my office so all he needs to do is vacuum.

This afternoon I plan on visiting with a man from our church who has had to go to a care home as he is suffering from dementia. He and his wife joined our church the same Sunday we did so we have known them for about 11 years.  A few months ago he got lost and was found wondering in a nearby town.  The doctors have told his wife that he can't be left alone again and she still has to work to support them so didn't have any other choice.

Judy, sorry to hear of your burn but glad you took quick action.  The snow doesn't sound very pleasant.

Gord, I can read from your message the sense of joy in being with your grandchildren.  These are very special relationships.

kingsdaisy, I hope you will continue to post often.  Thanks for sharing the story as it is a good one.

wordsculptor, thanks for the explantion about your poem.

Colin, another wonderful poem, thanks.

Nita, isn't it frustrating for some bureaucrat to sign you up for something without your consent.  Good luck on getting through to them to get the situaiton straightened out.

Etta Sue, hope your friend came through her surgery without complications.

Hi Carol.

Al Moak

Wordsculpter - excellent use of words in your poetry.  The poem did indeed have a very sad, depressing feeling to it, but then - it was supposed to!  I really appreciate the use of words like that.

Etta Sue

Nita ~ I 'searched' for Stepping Stones Through PSP.  First on the list was ways and where to purchase and make stepping stones.  Finally I saw it where it is a Yahoo Group for PSP'ers!  So now I have it book marked.  Will have to look at it later though.  Not much time right now.

Larry ~ Thanks for asking about Judy B.  I was going to call her in a few minutes but she called me.  She said she is feeling fine but can't move her leg or knee at all.  I reminded her that she HAS to do what the nurses and the doctors say or she may not walk again.  No pain, no gain.  She said she knew that!  Hopefully when I go with Ivalou to the cardiologist today, we can stop by the hospital to see Judy.

Not much going on.  Kitty did call me last evening and ask if I would like to ride to Circuit City to look at a new camera for her.  She has a Canon Rebel...with all the bells and whistles.  They are going to Disney World in January and she wants a smaller camera.  She likes shooting in RAW...you can save more pictures if they are shot in RAW.  And this Canon she wants shoots in RAW.  Canon Powershot G9 for something like that.  But she thinks she will get a better deal if she gets it online...$10 less and more accessories with it.  But she only had until midnight to get it ordered.  Haven't heard from her yet today.

Then we stopped at Chili's for chips and salsa and a Diet Pepsi!  Fun evening.  Oh, yes!  When we were getting out of the car at Circuit City, Kitty realized she didn't have her purse.  So she couldn't spend any money anyway!!

Etta Sue

Sorry, Nita!  I forgot.  I took PSP Imaginarium tutorials way back in 2001 and 2002.  I can't remember the ladies name that was the 'head' of it but she was from Australia.  I just looked in my Old email addresses.  Jamie Furner was her name.  Lots of fun but I did damage to my neck from sitting at the pc so long.  Ended up having to have a Selective Nerve Root Injection while under x-ray.  But no pain at all now or since.

I know...TMI!

Janet

Hello!  Do any of you happen to remember a lady named Janet?  Well, she is home again!  :)

I will come in and post tomorrow, really am worn out just now.  We were over 40 hours in transit coming home.  Had such a wonderful time, though, and can't wait to see the pictures larger, so going with Darrel to Liberal tomorrow and will be at Wal*Mart for some time choosing which ones to print, but will keep them all on discs.

I have read all but this week's posts, hope all those of you who have been sick are back "in the pink" by now!

Can't wait to hear all about your trip!

Colin:  Really nice to meet you too

Larry:  It is great that your grandson helps you and your wife with vacuuming.  It's nice having everything clean - makes one feel good yes.

Pat:  I hope you are getting better and feeling stronger by the day.  Sure miss you here even from the corner   :)

Marilyn:  Hope your ISP gets sorted out soon - dunno what ISP is but whatever it is its keeping you from us so I hope it gets fixed

Al:  You mentioned having Dutch background, do tell more.  You know, my granddad was a Professor in Theology (he's now retired) and taught at University of Stellenbosch here in South Africa.  He travelled all over the world for his studies and teachings, and also one of the translators of the Bible in our Afrikaans language.  I myself grew up with Afrikaans being my home language, but my granddad and all before him grew up with Dutch as their home language.  They all lived in the Netherlands.  Only my dad was born in SA and stayed and here we are!   ;D

Carol:  I also like my name because it is very special for me.  Six months after I got Saved I had a profound encounter with our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.  He called me His Daisy.  Simple and uncomplicated, and that that is what makes me beautiful to Him, my gentle spirit.  And from then on I was my Kings' Daisy.  Now it is my favourite flower!  I like the plain white ones, they are such glad little flowers!   <3
I agree Carol, sweet stuff is sometimes so hard to stay away from!!

Etta Sue & Nita:  Is PSP short for Paint Shop Pro or for PhotoShop?  I'm sure it will be lots of fun to learn how to make my own although I'd probably need a lot of time.  I'll need the course for people that doesn't know a thing about animation...

Hi to everyone else..  ;)

Our schools are closing today for the long December summer holiday.  It's becoming increasingly hot and reaches 28 degrees Celsius already - I believe that's 82.4 degrees Fahrenheit.  Apparently it will become hotter.  As a chronic headache and migraine sufferer, that's not good news.

Will be picking up my son at school shortly and then off to the market for fresh fruit and veggies.  Then its off to my dads so Marcèl can have a nice swim.

May everyone enjoy a Blessed day today filled with the Love of our Lord Jesus.

xx

Good Morning Gord and JudyB !!

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  Just waiting until it is time to leave for the senior center for the Friday men's coffee.  My neighbor usually goes with me but he and his wife made a large donation to the fire department for a unit to provide oxygen for sick snakes, dogs and cats.  I didn't realize the fire department got involved like this with animals but know his wife is a lover of animals and worked with an animal shelter for many years.

I had a very busy day yesterday.  After lunch I went to visit a friend at a care home who has dementia.  Then I went to Ace Hardware to look at a little red wagon  for our great grandchildren and then to Walmart for some Christmas shopping.  I bought some toys for the great grandchildren and a couple of other things for Christmas.  It was 5 pm when I got home and Pat and I went out to get dinner and then had to be at the church at 7 pm for a two hour choir practice.  Hope to have a quiet day today as don't have anything on the schedule after coffee.

kingsdaisy, that is a wonderful story about your screen name.  Sorry to read that you suffer with migraines.  I had those for many years and my children have them.  I no longer suffer with them.

Janet, I was glad to see your posting and know you are home safe and sound.  I look forward to seeing some of your trip pictures.  Hope you had a good nights rest.

Etta Sue, it sounds like it is a good thing you had your purse with you.  Hope Kitty found the camera she wants.

Hi Al and all those who visit CP today.

Kingsdaisy - five brothers with the last name of van ter mook came from the town of Mook (right next to the German border, and south of Arnheim).  People were always calling them "Mook", as rhymes with Luke, so it got changed to Moak.  The town is on the stream by the name of the Mook.  There's (or at least was) a hotel there by the name of Mollenhoek.  The brothers came over here to the state of Michigan, and later on one of them migrated to California in about 1850.

I haven't taught at seminary, but I did graduate from Westminster Theological Seminary in Philadelphia.

It's my understanding that Afrikaans is very, very close to pure Dutch.  I didn't major in Theology.  I majored in Greek and Hebrew.  i do teach Greek to a few students these days.

I talked to Marilyn on the phone this morning.  She is expecting someone from Earthlink to come today, but who knows whether they'll be able to get her back online!  She says she may need a new modem.  Apparently Earthlink is not extremely reliable, but for some reason she'll have to put up with them at least through next June.  She passes on her greetings to all of you, and says she'll be back asap.

Janet! ! ! !  Home!!!

Kingsdaisy ~ PSP does stand for PaintShop Pro.  PhotoShop is Photoshop.  People who use either one says their software is best.  The Photo Guild that I belong to uses PhotoShop.  I see things being done on PhotoShop that can't be done on PSP and vice versa.  I am happy with PSP.  And it is tremendously cheaper.

Ivalou got great news about the echo-gram and the nuclear test.  No clots and no damage.  But she failed her sleep test big time.  Seems she stops breathing for 10 seconds every minute or two.  So now she has another sleep test December 17.  I think this time they will put a CPAP on her and see if that helps to regulate her breathing.  She asked me, 'As many nights as we have slept in the same room, have you noticed me stopping breathing?'  I said, 'Well, some nights you are quiet.  I can't say you snore but your breathing gets loud.  So if your breathing got loud, I just got up and put in my earplugs!  So no, I never noticed.'

But her best news is that she will be fine.  Just never stop taking the coumadin or the topril.

I got my car maintenance done today and was going to eat breakfast in Pendleton.  One restaurant was closed.  The other one didn't have a parking space...full!  So I came back to Lapel and had breakfast.  Very good!

Kitty emailed me and said that she got an email saying her camera is being shipped today and should arrive at her home next Tuesday.

It is bright and sunny in Indiana....but only 40°.  When I left this morning it was only 26°!!  Brrrr!

Lots of problems with our Yahoo today so I don't know when I can begin the PSP lessons & now I am fearful of the time it will take.  Cleaning, wrapping gifts, some baking - my life is pretty full.

kingdaisy:  So, you are in Cape Town (or is that one word?).  No wonder you are so much hotter than we are today.  It sounds exotic and wonderful in that part of the world.  Someday.....  We live in northern Colorado right next to the Rocky Mountains.  We are close to Wyoming as well.  We ended up here because of jobs and also Don was stationed in the Air Force (Strategic Air Command) in Cheyenne, Wyoming but we have lived in several other states and I have moved to this state four times.  So, it must be meant to be ----and four adult children live withing an hour & half from our house.

Janet:  Looking forward to the pictures.  Glad you are well.

Colin:  Hello - I am listening to Celtic music on Pandora.  Lovely and sad music.

Larry:  I didn't know that the fire departments had a different unit just for animals - snakes, I think not for me.  Once, I was having coffee at a gal's house and after a little while she mentioned that son's snake was loose.  I almost jumped on the table.

Pat

Carol, so far the lessons for me haven't been too time-consuming.

Why don't you try anyway?

While Shepards Watched Their Flocks
(Click to hear music)

"There were shepherds living out in the fields nearby,
keeping watch over their flocks at night."
Luke 2:8-9

Words: Nahum Tate, 1700

Music: "Christmas," George F. Handel

While shepherds watched their flocks by night,
All seated on the ground,
The angel of the Lord came down,
And glory shone around,
And glory shone around.

"Fear not!" said he, for mighty dread
Had seized their troubled mind.
"Glad tidings of great joy I bring
To you and all mankind
To you and all mankind.

"To you, in David's town, this day
Is born of David's line
A Savior, who is Christ the Lord,
And this shall be the sign,
And this shall be the sign.

"The heavenly Babe you there shall find
To human view displayed,
All meanly wrapped in swathing bands,
And in a manger laid,
And in a manger laid."

Thus spake the seraph and forthwith
Appeared a shining throng
Of angels praising God on high,
Who thus addressed their song,
Who thus addressed their song:

"All glory be to God on high,
And to the Earth be peace;
Good will henceforth from heaven to men
Begin and never cease,
Begin and never cease!"

Pat:  I have PSP 7 and the lessons are for newer editions.  My question:  Is it possible to upgrade the #7 to one of the newest ones?  I see that there is an upgrade to the X2 for about $60.Love the music.  Thank you.

Pat

I use PSP 9, Carol.

I'm not sure if you can upgrade to that.  I have VX but I don't use it yet.

Mary's Boy Child
(Click to hear music)

Words & Music by Jester Hairston

Long time ago in Bethlehem
So the Holy Bible say
Mary's Boy Child, Jesus Christ
Was born on Christmas Day

Hark, now hear the angels sing
"New King's born today
And man will live forevermore
Because of Christmas Day."

While shepherds watched their flocks by night
They saw a bright new shining star
And heard a choir from heaven sing
The music came from afar
Hark, now hear the angels sing,
"New King's born today
And man will live forevermore
Because of Christmas Day."

Now Joseph and his wife Mary
Came to Bethlehem that night
They found no place to bear her Child
Not a single room was in sight,
By and by they found a little nook
In a stable all forlorn
And in a manger cold and dark
Mary's little Boy Child was born.

Trumpets sound and angels sing
Listen to what they say
That man will live forevermore
Because of Christmas Day.

Pat:  Loved the song of Mary's Boy Child and it has been years since I have heard it played.
As for the PSP, I should really get something newer than the 7 because there have been problems with it for the last year off and on.

Chilly here tonight and snow in the mountains.  The newspapers are calling it a gift from heaven.  Isn't it amazing that they dare mention the word HEAVEN?  We are reading.

Janet

Whew!  Busy day....again.  But boy, do I have a batch of prints!  I tried to be conservative and only order the very best ones, still ended up with about 500 or so.  :o

I am having bad trouble with my eyes, can't see to read without a magnifying glass.  I read two books on the way to Peru, and after we got there, I wasn't able to read the whole time, nor since getting home.  Yesterday I saw my eye doctor and he referred me to the specialist for a cataract evaluation.  I sure hope he will take them off this time. (I saw him two years ago).  This is really interfering with my life!  Dr. Copeland told me to "moan and groan and complain a lot" when I see Dr. Fry.  I can do that!  ;)  I can't do much without seeing.  :(

Anyway........thank you all SO MUCH for the welcomes home!   :)  I sure appreciate that.  I did get online while in Peru, but couldn't remember my registration name and password, so I couldn't post.  :-[

I am trying to figure out our calendar for this month.  How to make everything fit???  Not enough days.

KingsDaisy, welcome!  I'm enjoying your posts so much.  My grandma's name was Daisy, so I like the name, and also love the flowers, especially the white.  They just seem so pure and so cheerful.

And yes, I will post some photos, but not tonight.  But, Pat---I will go and vote.

Birthday of a King
(Click to hear music)

I will raise up a King Who will reign wisely.
Jeremiah 23:5

Words & Music: William H. Neidlinger, 1890

In the little village of Bethlehem,
There lay a Child one day;
And the sky was bright with a holy light
O'er the place where Jesus lay.

Refrain
Alleluia! O how the angels sang.
Alleluia! How it rang!
And the sky was bright with a holy light
'Twas the birthday of a King.

'Twas a humble birthplace, but O how much
God gave to us that day,
From the manger bed what a path has led,
What a perfect, holy way.

Refrain

Nita

Good morning all.  I've been awake all night waiting for a baby.  My daughter went into the hospital yesterday at doctor's insistance.  He wanted to monitor the baby as she wasn't moving much.  Then she started really moving.

But there was a crisis when her heart slowed way down.  The nurse had Kim down on her hands and knees, I think to see if it was the cord around her neck, and it was.  What if she had been home?  God knew she needed to be there.   Things have been ok since then, but she stopped dilating at 4.5.  Her doctor was preparing her for the chance of  a cesarean birth.  Today should give us more information.  My dear sister, Pam, is her coach so she, and Paul (Kim's husband)stayed at the hospital last night.

The report that my sister, Faye, was ok was not really accurate.  Although they got the cancer in the uturus, (t was the cervix, niece told me), the doctor has some results back and found cancer cells in her stomach. :(

I've been up all night, and decided to work through my emotions by doing some computer painting.  So I painted what was in my heart.  My painting is still rough, but I love doing it.

Pat, glad to hear you are taking the lessons.  What most people didn't like, and what I liked most, was learning about the art media tools, but mostly just the smudge brush. :)  That one little thing, just showing us how it can be used (you will have to paint clouds on one of your lessons) opened up a new path of creativity for me.  I'm just going to keep going.  I have to get better.  Right?

Here's my painting.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/nita_hrnr/2078283518/

have a blessed day.  I'll let you know what I know when I know.  Maybe a pic of my brand new grandbaby.   Nita

Hey there, Nita ... Thanks for the info re: Kim and Faye ... I'm (still) praying.   <3

I love your painting.   Yes!  In all things God is there ... Take care, Bestest.
Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass .... it's about learning to dance in the rain!

Janet

Good morning!  I finally got all my photos onto the computer (I think).  Had some problems along the way.  I need one of my grandsons here for a couple hours!

Nita, what a night you have had!  I am praying that mom and baby are fine, and that your sister will be, too.  Life can sure hand us stress at times, can't it?  I LOVE your painting!  I must paint this afternoon, as I have to teach my group next Saturday; the project is gold leafing, and it's been years since I did any of that.

I wish there were a simple way to share a big batch of these Peru photos with all of you.  Things are getting so busy it may be some time before I can work with them.  There are some really neat ones, though!  :)

I must go see about a Christmas tree upstairs.  I have three, and my friend Pat wants to borrow one.  She needs a slim one as hers is too wide to fit the space she has for it.

Later, Kiddos!  Love you!
