Hi everyone!

Dropping in to say a quick 'hiya!' :)

Life has been very, very busy... my husband was in India for six weeks, my book was released and won an award, PTL!, busy with children and church etc... but I haven't forgotten about you. Hoping to come back soon and catch up properly with you all.

In His love,  :)

Well I am back from a real ditzy time with my puter.  The Oct 1 Thoughts for the week doesn't show on my computer.  I really don't know why.  Pat kindly cluesd me in to the problem and I then went to Heather to get her to send me the link.

I haven't read the posts, I will be doing that tomorrow when I am rested.  I am off to bed, and will be praying for each need represented here.

Nita

I just had to pop in here before I turn in.  I'm tired tonight and just finished a nice cup of peppermint tea. :)

Thank you for the birthday wishes, and to Pat for the cake. I, of course, will share, since I did get two of them.

Marilyn, I meant to reply to your card for Ty and Rocko.  It was really cute.  I forget now if it was Bebe or Happy who sent it, but I'm thinking Happy.  He looks so huggable.

I had a nice birthday.  I got some of my favorite socks from the dogs (with help from my daughter) and candles and a calendar, a gift card from another daughter, and lots of birthday wishes all around.

I was reading in The Best Of Oswald Chambers this morning.  He spoke of "sweet St. Francis" and I realized I'd never read anything by him.  I've read about him.  Did he leave writings behind?  I love reading what our fathers in the faith have left for us.  I'll have to check the library of classics cd you gave me, Jane.

Blessings and goodnight from my corner.  Nita

Morning all.  I mentioned last week that I'd not taken my camera to my Grandson's special school harvest celebration.  Well I did take half a brain cell which resulted in this, (which is my favoured genre so I won't be doing head to heads with Colin the rhymer):

They do not sing as I sing

They do not sing as I sing,
their jumbled song
a burble of contorted face.
Their rainbow thought
bumbled, tumbled down
a chaotic assault
on alternative reality.

They do not dance as I dance,
their semaphore waving
unintended cacophony
explosions of pleasure.

They do not sing as I sing
but their eyes
are symphonies of joy.

Yesterday is an anchor, tomorrow is an adventure, today we choose.

Colin

Fair play to you wordsculptor....Colin the rhymer! My wife thinks I rhyme about everything too! Like your little poems by the way...especially the first one you put in here...er...the one that rhymes!

Happy belated Birthday Nita!

Hi Pat!

HANDS ACROSS THE WATER

With His mighty hands across the water
God divided the deep sea from the earth
And He took such time and patience
Forming this beautiful land of my birth
He made the forests and each rolling hillside
Gently spread the silent valleys in between
And with His hands across the wide glens
Painted them with forty shades of green

He set the majestic Giant's Causeway
Along Antrim's Atlantic sprayed coast
To array Ireland with such beauty
He dressed her with jewels the most
And when He was satisfied and had finished
I imagine God beamed with a smile
When He looked at the result of His creation
This beautiful green Emerald Isle

Her high mountains speak of God's majesty
Her waterfalls tell of blessings cascading from above
All of her nature sings His praises
For Ireland has been kissed by the sunshine of His love
Then why should you ever wonder
That Irish people, kind hearted, are the best
We have great singers, for we have songs to sing
To tell of what riches we are blest

We sing of the beauty of our land
Of God's love and His amazing grace
And our hearts are also lifted to Him
For settling us in this wonderful place
And I ask for you God's blessing
Though you are afar off; it does not matter
God will take my love and His own to you
Carried by His marvellous hands across the water

Colin Moffett

I know I have put this in before but have put it in again especially for Francine who has expressed an interest in my country. God bless

Good morning, friends!

Hi Colin...sure have missed your posts and poems.

Hi Pat...Quit your galivanting around and visit your own site once in awhile.   ;)  How's things going with your life?

Happy Belated Birthday, Nita!

Francine...I love Arizona.  Have been to the Grand Canyon at least 10 times and on the mules to Phantom Ranch 2 times...many, many years ago!!

wordsculptor...love your poem also.  That's just like the way kids are.

judyB....hope your puter is well today.  Can't live without our puters.  Have to have one to keep in touch with our cyber friends.

Karen....you do sound busy!!  Life is grand, isn't it?

Jane...did you hear from the doctor?

Marilyn...I remember walnuts in our driveway and when Dad drove over them, they cracked.  Easy to shell that way!

Well, I am trying not to feel abandoned..... :'(  Kitty is in Texas with her husband.  Coming home next week sometime.  Ivalou left this morning for Ohio to spend time with her daughters and grandchildren.  Coming home Sunday morning.  Kaye Don and Barb left this morning for Ohio to spend time with a couple that lives in the same RV resort as Kaye Don in Florida.  Coming home Saturday evening.  And to top it off, it is cloudy, rainy, gloomy!  I have to keep positive.  If anyone clicks on my profile and sees where I live, you will see two houses to the east of mine...first house Ivalou's, second house Kaye Don's.  Weird, I lived in Greenfield for years with no family near.  But when Ivalou and Kaye Don are both gone...I feel...well, abandoned.  But I have to stay here because it is my job to get their mail and newspapers!!

Soooo you may just see me more this week....

Hmmmm!  I just thought of something.  Tony is on vacation this week...maybe I will call him to come visit with me.  Or go down to their house!!

:)  :)  :)  :)  :)  :)  :)  :)  :)  :)  :)  :)  :)  :)  :)  :)  :)  :)  :)  :)

Pat

Hi Everyone!

So nice to read the poetry in here today.

Colin, I love that one of yours and I think you should post it at least once a month in here!  :)

How often I've wanted to put down my thoughts in poem but I'm afraid I'd just make a mess.  Love your memories of the little kids at their harvest Wordsculptor.  How often I've thought just that way when I've attended these special events.

Judy, I have no idea why you aren't seeing Oct. 1 on your list of "Thoughts for the Week"!  Really odd that one.

KAREN!!!, it's so-o-o good to see you here.  You've been missed and I'm looking forward to seeing more of your posts soon.  Hope your husband had a blessed time in India.

Nope the puter is not showing this weeks "Thought".  It is really spun!

The girls are working well today.  The course they enjoy the most is their Bible course.  This year it is on Bible history.  It is interesting learning about the kings of old.  Having them as examples of what not to do or even better what to do, they are learning by example.  Science is a challenge.  We are working on the beginnings of Physics.  I never passed a physics test in highschool, so I am re-learning as I go and thankfully I have the answers.

I have a question on Bible doctrine.  Perhaps Pastor Al can help.

The Bible says the scacrafice of Jesus was a sacrifice "once and for all".  In small group we are working on Romans, and this topic came up.  Did our Lords sacrifice cover those who believed in God in the Old Testament???  If not where are these people now?  Are there references to back this up?

I am shutting down to continue with "Physics"  and will be back later.  God bless JudyB

Pat

Until Al comes, you might like to have a look at Al's studies in Romans, Judy.

Hello everyone. After Tai Chi I stopped in a -mart to get a few things then on home to wash the shirts I bought and fold the other laundry that was dry.

t much on my agenda today. Jut the usual tings like walking with the dogs and the things one usually does at home. Bible study tonight, Women's Bible study will be starting up again, looking forward to that.

After Curves at 6:45AM Willa and I stopped at the church to take out all the trash as today is trash day here. While there we checked the paper towel and toilet paper in all the bathrooms.

Jane...did you hear from the doctor?

Yup ... My doctor's office called this morning to let me know "It is not a surgical problem"  which I was not concerned about anyway, but there is a weakness in the muscles that prevent me from swallowing properly ... thus the choking feeling and the feeling that food gets "stuck in my throat" -- I guess it really does!  He has called a prescription in and I will be going to pick it up in a little while... we'll see how much it will help.

Joy called me this morning as well ... John came home yesterday and is resting from the ordeal at the hospital.  Since all the pain and problems were happening over the weekend, and the hospital is not fully staffed, he had surgery very early on Monday morning (like 4:30 a.m.).  Seems the surgeon found out about his error Sunday evening and John had already eaten supper so surgery was scheduled for "before noon" Monday.  As it turned out, the surgeon couldn't sleep for worrying so he just assembled a full staff and came over and whisked John into surgery!  Joy got a call at 6:00 a.m. saying her husband was in recovery!  She was really surprised, to say the least.

The surgeon said he knew he hadn't secured the pacemaker properly and it had slipped out of place.

Joy also told me that she had gone to see a doctor for her own swallowing/cough problem as well as snoring.  The same result as for me:  weakness in the muscles in her throat and there is nothing that will help it.  So ... we have decided it must be an heriditary thing and we'll just tell people "Sorry, there's nothing that can be done about it, so you'll just have to deal with it.!"

I probably snore too ... I never stay awake to find out about it, but I have received some "guarded" comments from others when I wake up.   :-\  I know it is irritating for people to have to listen to loud snoring or coughing ... Sorry .....  :-[
Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass .... it's about learning to dance in the rain!

So nice to read your post, Jane.  I don't snore...at least I don't think I do.

But...

I can tell you who does!  <<<WINK, WINK>>>

Nothing is Impossible
(Click to hear music)

Words and Music by Eugene L. Clark

Matthew 19:26
"Jesus looked at them and said, "With man this is impossible,
but with God all things are possible."

Nothing is impossible
when you put your trust in God;
Nothing is impossible
when you're trusting in His Word.
Hearken to the voice of God to thee;
"Is there anything too hard for Me?"
Then put your trust in God alone
and rest upon His Word;
For ev'rything, O, ev'rything,
yes ev'rything is possible with God.

Snoring has to be one of the worst things ever, I know of a couple that are divorced because of it.  It can also put such a strain on a marriage even if it does hold together.

I did not sleep well last evening so I am more than ready for bed.

We have had rain this last few days and that is good but I understand that the weekend is to be lovely.

Tomorrow is another day,      God Bless you all Ruth
In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.Ă‚  Proverbs 3:6

Yes Jane really!!!

The weather here has been lovely.  Yesterday was a little damp but the girls are out and about everyday.  Kassie has taken to running every morning.  The cadet corp she goes to has a test in the spring.  She also wants to join the bi-athalon (sp?) team in the spring and get ready for the winter next year.  She is working her endurance up to a kilometer.

John and I are both snorers.  It doesn't bother either of us unless one of us is having difficulty sleeping anyway.  In that case we can't blame the snoring at all, just circumstances.  My arm is much better since I have been on the different medication for inflamation.

John called just a bit ago.  He is heading down to Arkansas, and won't be home till Saturday.  He will have sunday off and is hoping to be dispatched on Tuesday.  With Monday being the Canadian Thanksgiving, we are hoping things go his way.  It will be good to have him home.

Well it is late and I am heading to bed.  Night all and God bless.

Thanks everyone for welcoming the new folks here at
:cp:

There are several in our Newcomers area that need to have :welcome: messages posted.

Could I ask that you all head over and post a :welcome: to them in the latest topics?  Thanks so much!

Here's a link to that area:

If there is a little "New" button, that means that there are posts you haven't seen and that's a good place to start!  ;)

We really need to make our new folks feel welcome here.  There's about six or eight recent in that Newcomers that need posts.

Hi everyone.  Yesterday was so busy that I didn't get here to read or post.  I am staying home today but have several things I need to work on so will be relatively busy.

Pat had her test done yesterday afternoon and all went well with no indication of further problems, although it will be a few days before the tests are completed.  We were both worn out when we got home and I had a quick little nap in my easy chair, which I very seldom do, before I went to choir practice.

Tomorrow will be another busy day as have to see my cardiologist in the morning and then pick up our daughter who is coming to spend the weekend.  She has not been here for a weekend for a couple of months.

Nice to see all the postings.  I will not take the time this morning to make individual comments.

Marilyn

Good Morning Everyone.

Last night we started our new Bibles study, This year started now and ending at the end of May is John. We will be reading the same chapter for a whole week. Taking notes on what we get out of each chapter and how will will apply those notes to our own lives, with the address of where it is located.

I am still in my exercise clothes as I have plenty of time to put on my scrubs and get ready for work. I bought a new pr of purple scrubs and a long sleeve T-shirt of the same color to wear under the top when it gets colder.

It is pouring rain at the moment Happy was outside but I think he was on the porch 'cause he didn't get wet. I am so glad I have been covering my  tomatoes at night. They sure are taking a long time to ripen with all the overcast weather we have had during the summer.

Well I have rambled on enough her. I pray you all have a very blessed day. Don't forget to go pray for Francine's daughter Samantha.

Hi Larry!

So glad that Pat's tests went ok.  And sometime we just need to have a nap in our easy chair.  I did the other day as well.

Marilyn, send some of that rain here.  We sure need it.  Everything is so dry.

This is from one of the Missionaries that I was posting about in our Missionary corner some time ago.

Hello,

"If you will read this I will read one of your flyers." This is how a so-called Jehovah's Witness approached me while evangelizing at the Metro (subway) station. I knew he would not read the one I gave him, as I was not going to read the tract he gave me but it was a good opening line. "We are both from religious organizations," he went on to say, "so we can talk about these things." "Yes," I said. Then I inquired: "Are you sure you have eternal life now that you have changed religion?" The rest of his conversation was a jumbled, confused discourse on how he could never be sure of having eternal life because he could never live a perfect life. When I pointed out that, according to Ephesians 2:8-10, we are saved by God's unmerited grace and, therefore, it does not depend on us and we truly can have assurance of eternal life he kept trying to convince me that "unmerited" means "we have to merit" our salvation. I told him the apostle Paul said: "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord (Rom.6:23)." A gift cannot be earned, purchased, or merited otherwise it is not a gift. We concluded on friendly terms with my invitation for him to call me to set up a time when we can talk together.

When someone who is on the broad road, which leads to destruction, changes lane but not the road he becomes harder to reach because he thinks his sacrifice is pleasing to God. I pointed out to this JW that he did not change religions at all just loyalties. He was trying to earn or merit his salvation being loyal to the pope in Rome now he is still trying to earn or merit his salvation being loyal instead to the Watch Tower Society of New York. That is not a change from the broad road to the narrow road that leads to God but just a lane-change on the road that leads to hell.

I count my success in the seeds I plant each day and my joy in seeing the Holy Spirit work. Towards the end of May I received a phone call from someone who had found a flyer in a subway car. He wanted to get a copy of all the back issues of the evangelistic flyer. Towards the middle of September, having read them, he called again asking for a New Testament. This time he wanted to know more about who we are and where we hold our worship services. I praise the Lord that he has been to the church a number of times and will meet with me to talk about the Bible.

Being out on the streets has made me somewhat of a street chaplain. I met a man about a year ago. It was obvious that he was depressed and turned inward. For the past year, in the times we have spent together, I have been trying to get him to understand that God is a God of grace and truth ("The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth" John 1:14). As such the Lord understands who we are and what we have done—that is truth. With knowing that He has made a way for us to be in close personal relation with Him through His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. The man has made some progress and is now reading the Bible. The gospel we bring to the world has the answer for all of man's needs: upward in relation to God, outward in relation to others and inward as we deal with our consciences and ourselves.

Thank you for your partnership through prayer. May God's grace be upon you.

Mario and Rose Bruno
