Hello everyone. It is noon here where I am. I heard On the news that there wasn't much damage in the earthquake area that happened down around San Jose, 5.6 I think they said. They felt it where I am from in Stockton, California about 90 miles from the epicenter.

Not much new here, I am off today, got my flu shot. When I was walking Bebe a very sweet little Miniature Pinscher (Min Pin) followed us home, I offered him a ride and he jumped right in my car and I took him back to the area of his home and found his owner out looking for him.

I am in for the duration, no trick or treats here, only for my grandchildren if they get here $$$'s are tight this year.

WELCOME HOME, LARRY!!! I'm so thankful God kept you and Pat safe.

I must go out and pick what green tomatoes we have on the vines, as it is predicted for us to get a freeze tonight.

Darrel and I went to Dodge City today.  He had a bit of alarm work there, and in Sublette on the way home.  We had a nice day out, and bought a few things needed for our trip to Peru.  And we ate a lovely lunch at Applebees.

Abby was sick last Saturday night, then slept most of Sunday.  Last night during the baby shower, Diane got sick with the same type thing---upchucking and running.  :P  Bless her heart.  I just hope all the guests--and that includes me--weren't exposed to the bug.  Yuck.

It was a wonderful baby shower, so many lovely gifts!  My goodness, they make such CUTE stuff for babies now, don't they?  :)

We are NOT getting flu shots this year.  I read (Dr. Blaylock) that if you get a flu shot every year for five years, your chances of developing Alzheimer's goes up dramatically.  And we are on such a good nutrition program we don't feel we need the shots.  (To each their own!)

Etta Sue, thanks for the cute Hallowe'en graphics.  I really miss the little spooks coming to the door, but since we live out in the country, we haven't had any of them for years.  I'm tempted to go to town and visit a friend for a couple hours, just so I could see the kids.  ^-^

Ruth Ann, I hope your employers know what a gem you are!

I need to start packing my suitcase!!!!

Hi Everyone!

I had such a wonderful time in Virginia.  I had no problems with my car and made it to my friend's home by about 4 pm on Monday.  It rained solidly for 3 days which dampened some of the plans we had for sightseeing but then I met a SeniorNet host for lunch one day and then we walked around Arlington Cemetery and many monuments in Washington, DC.  What a beautiful place!

I have learned a lot on this forum, but have also had to see some pictures I just don't want to see.  I am hear to learn in an environment geared toward those who don't define more skin as "art".

Welcome to our site!  It's lovely to have you.

You mention that there are some photos on the site that you didn't wish to see?  I hope not!  If they are not good, please let me know!

CHRIST HAS CLAIMED HIS BRIDE

I hear the wings of angels
Stirring to unfold
See trumpet pressed to lips
Ringing blast on hold

I see the great white throne
Angels gathered round
Awaiting the King to rise
The trumpet blast to sound

The Father's voice is heard
Son; arise and go
Claim the ones you washed
Whiter than the snow

Heaven's gates are opening
Slowly swinging wide
Jesus astride the clouds
Coming for His bride

Wings of angels catch the air
Unfolded now at last
The sound of Jesus coming
In the trumpet blast

Saints of every age are there
Meeting in the sky
Changed now and glorified
In twinkle of the eye

Heavens gates are opening
Banquet table inside
A wedding party in Glory
Christ has claimed His bride

Welcome back, Pat and Larry!  So happy your travels were safe!

Well, today is going to the doctor to see how my blood is.  Red, I think!  Barb is having surgery on her eyelid again but her two daughters are going and they were to be in Indy at 6:30am!!!  So Ivalou is going with me.  I am dropping her off at the hospital in Noblesville so she can get a blood draw while I go on to the doctor's office.  Then I will get her and we will go out to eat...she will be starved by then!

Then I have to get a new fan for the compressor on this pc.  It is whining!  I can WHAM it and it stops for a split second...driving me crazy...short trip, I know.  Then off to WalMart so both of us can get in some groceries!  I am out of unusual stuff...nutmeg...chili powder...that kind of stuff.

Not going to be as warm today...not even up to 60°.  Can't wait for Indian summer!!!

Good Morning. I will be going to Curves for my workout in just a little bit.  Today I am taking a client to Eureka to the dentist and to do some shopping, come back vacuum her place and then on to the new job for training. Please do keep me in prayer that I will do good at the training and be able to help Maggie without any problems arising. My worst fear is that I will do something that will cause her pain or not do something the right way.

I only had one trick or treater last night. I did not turn on  the porch light so I didnt expect anyone to show up. I thought maybe my grands would but they didn't.

I am glad Larry, Pat and Pat have returned safely from their journey's. I pray everyone will have a very Blessd Day.

Gotta go now to pick up Willa and on the Curves.

Welcome back Pat and Larry! So glad that your trips were safe returns.

I have not read all and did not realize the sad news about Pinkie.  Sorry to read that as well.

Don didn't sleep well at all last night.  He is up and dressed and we have cousin & husband in the guest room, being quiet.....shhhhhh  They are tired from their drive yesterday and will head to Arizona through the mountains today - I checked and the roads are clear.  This is the one with missionary son now moved to Krgystan - must learn how to spell it correctly.  The family had to leave Uzbeckistan.  They work with disabled children and have adopted two very disabled youngsters plus are having their own 5th or 6th baby - I can't keep up.  She is 41 and still has energy.  So, that is quite a tribe of their own.  Anyway, always interesting stories.

Our son Phil has an interview this morning      - I did sleep last night.  These things keep me awake for hours usually.  Praying for the best outcome.

Well, the  :coffee: is about ready.  We hope to start back to exercise again soon - I am not coughing but now Don is coming down with a cold.

Janet:  Hello - I have not ever heard anything about the flu shot and Alzheimer's Disease.  Will check into this on google for sure.  We have ours years and never get the flu and really think it helps us from colds.  This was the most painless needle we have ever experienced this year.  Hope all is well with you - I have not checked all of the hundreds of posts.

Hi everyone.  Back from coffee but am concerned the cafe we go to may have to close for lack of business.  They are no longer getting the construction workers and the business has dropped off terribly.  This week they have cut the hours of operation and will no longer serve lunch, only breakfast.  The steakhouse we have in the local shopping center closed on Tuesday as they were losing a lot of money by staying open.  We have had the construction boom around here for quite awhile but it is basically gone.  We may be forced to go to McDonald's everyday for coffee.  I am sure we will find someplace to go.

Thanks for the good words of welcome home.  I feel very blessed to have such caring friends here on CP.

I think the number of children coming to the door last night was down from the year before but we had some really cute little ones.  The costumes were nice and the children were courteous.  We didn't have any really older children, which was nice.  At 9 pm we turned the outside lights off.

I don't have much on the schedule today so will enjoy my day at a very leisurely pace.

Our son sent us some pictures of the great grandchildren in their costumes for yesterday.  He went trick or treating with them and had a great time.  What a wonderful and joyful gift to see this reconciliation within my family.  God is so good and we just have to wait for things to happen in his time.

Carol, I hope the interview goes well for your son.  Glad your cough is gone but sorry to hear that Don is coming down with a cold.

Marilyn, I hope you enjoy your training today.  I am confident that you will do a great job as you are so caring.

Etta Sue, I think I have had to replace only one fan on a computer in all the years of working with computers.  I have also had to replace the power supply once.  I am sure you won't have any difficulty in doing the replacement.

Colin, you need not stay in the corner as you are in good standing here.  Thanks for the new poem, it is always a joy to see your work.

Pat, nice to see you had such a nice time on your trip.  Too bad about the rain except I am sure they needed it.  Glad you were able to do some sight-seeing as there is a lot to see in that area.  It sounds like our Saturns did us well on our trips.  I was very pleased that ours did great and think there is no longer a need to consider replacing the car at this time since the chip replacement seems to have solved the starting problem with the security system.

Janet, when are you going to Peru?  That should be a great trip.  Certainly sorry to read of the sickness going around in your family and hope you or Darrel are not impacted by it.  You have had enough illness and pain to last for a long time.

Marilyn

Good morning:

Hello Marilyn

Larry - Pat & Pat Scott welcome home.
Janet:  When is your next vacation?

About the flu shots I got one many many years ago and was sick all winter so no more for me.  What is interesting my physician goes to a seniors clinic to give the shots and he also would like that Mel & myself would have the shot but he does not bother himself  that confirms a whole lot in my books.

I have a couple of errands to do on the net then it is off to do a load of laundry.    I wish you all a great day    :coffee:     Ruth

Colin, what a wonderful poem!  I believe that day is coming soon when our Lord Jesus Christ will be coming in glory!  Oh, that we'll all be ready for His return!

Please don't stay in that corner.  Now that winter is coming, it's chilly away from the warmth of the fire!  :)

How's the weather over there in N. Ireland?  It's a nice day here today albeit a bit grey but not too cold.

Well, I'm off to give my elderly lady friend her injection (every Thursday).  I'll try to look through my photos a bit at a time and post some on here.

Hello to everyone!  It's so nice to read your posts.

When I was in Virginia, my friend and I so enjoyed singing the old hymns of the faith and this was one that we liked especially.

Just think of the words as you sing along!

Day By Day
(Click to hear music)

Words by Lina Berg
Music by Oscar Ahnfelt

Day by day and with each passing moment,
Strength I find to meet my trials here;
Trusting in my Father's wise bestowment,
I've no cause for worry or for fear.
He whose heart is kind beyond all measure
Gives unto each day what He deems best
Lovingly, it's part of pain and pleasure,
Mingling toil with peace and with rest.

Ev'ry day the Lord Himself is near me
With a special mercy for each hour;
All my cares He fain would bear, and cheer me,
He whose name is Counselor and Pow'r.
The protection of His child and treasure
Is a charge that on Himself He laid;
"As thy days, thy strength shall be in measure,"
This the pledge to me He hath made.

Help me then in ev'ry tribulation
So to trust thy promises, O Lord,
That I lose not faith's sweet consolation
Offered me within Thy Holy Word.
Help me, Lord, when toil and trouble meeting,
E'er to take, as from a father's hand,
One by one, the days, the moments fleeting,
'Til I reach the blessed, promised land.

Thank you Larry and Pat. Pat the weather here in N. Ireland is pretty mild for this time of year. It has been overcast and cloudly for a few days but nothing to complain about. Well I am not actually standing in any particular corner as I have so many corners to go to. Having three or four of my own websites and blogs and being a  member of christianpoetry...christart...christianwriters and also Godtube....and not forgetting this wonderful site...I get a little dizzy runing around.

Pat....it is nearly a year since we met. You used my Rememberance Day poem and also invited me here and it is coming round to that time of year again. Thanks for all the tea and buns since! :coffee:

You know I have dial up.  I really don't mind on a normal day, but today is Mothers birthday she is 86.  So everytime a call comes in, I get booted.  I don't mind being booted normally, I just don't like loosing my posts.  That is what happened today.  A lost post.

We have all kinds of relatives calling to wish Mother a happy birthday.  I have a roast in the slow cooker and will bake a low sugar cake and Kassie is going to bake a pear crisp.

I received an email this week.  Aparently if you put Vics Vapo Rub on the soles of your feet then socks on top the treatment will stop the most stubborn cough.  Carol and etta Sue you may want to try this.  I will be tonight as I have an autumn cold as well.

Our weather is more like autumn weather.  Colder and again wet.  The weather report last night said snow by the weekend.  I know that is a four letter word, but it is coming.

Janet When do you head to Peru?  Enquiring hearts want to know.  Are you going diving?  Will we get to see the pictures?  I sure hope so I do love your underwater pictures!

Those of you who have been travelling, will be travelling, or are travelling.  I pray journey mercies and gods blessing for each of you.  Now be sure to let us see the pictures....You too Pat!

Each of you that have needs I am praying.  Know the hymn "For you I am praying"?  Well I am praying for each need represented here.

I am off, Time is flying and I have a lot to get accomplished.

Janet

For those of you who have asked, we leave for Peru on the 13th and return on the 28th.  No, Judy, no underwater adventures this time, sorry.  I do take lots of photos but have trouble posting them.  Pat will be helping me later with that problem.  I sure would like to show you all my lovely little great granddaughter!  :)

After reading the link Marilyn posted, I am even more sure we have made the right decision---NOT to have the flu shots.  I wish now that Beth hadn't had one, but they insist on it at the care home.  Of course, the resident does have the right to refuse.  But since she is also on Reliv, I do not think she needed the flu shot.  My Dad suffered for the last 10 years of his life from Alzheimer's, and I want to avoid it if at all possible!

Hey, Pat!  So good to have you back!

Colin!!!  So good to see another of your lovely poems!  Please don't get too busy to stop in and say howdy, and how about one of your jokes?  ;)

Darrel and I took the time to go visit an elderly friend after lunch, taking her lunch, too.  She doesn't get out much at all any more and is thinking about going into the assisted living facility.  I think she will keep thinking until she isn't able to live there, as she is having trouble making that decision.  We had such a good visit.  8)

I need to go start painting on my exchange gift for my painting group, as I may not have enough time after we get home!

Well Janet take your camera and take lots of pictures of Peru and when you get back get Pat to help you post them.

Wow!!!  Peru!  That's awesome, Janet!  Do you have a suitcase that will hold me?

Sure do, Pat---but only if you weigh less than 50 pounds.  ::)  They are restricting baggage weight more and more.  But seriously, I sure do wish you could come with us!  I'm really looking forward to seeing Macchu Picchu.

Want me to bring you back a llama?  ;)

Janet:    Posting your pictures is not really all that hard but I had my daughter spend most of an afternoon talking me through each step yes it was all afternoon so you have an idea of how many times she repeated the same instructions and yes she also got firm.  She also sent an e-mail with instructions which I have kept and yes I still struggle but the last time I did do it right.    :thumbsup2:

Good Morning there....  I just received this beautiful story and it touched my heart so....

"Some years ago, on a hot summer day in south Florida, a little boy decided to go for a swim in the old swimming hole that was behind his house. In a hurry to dive into the cool water, he ran out the back door, leaving behind shoes, socks, and shirt as he went.
He flew into the water, not realizing that as he swam toward the middle of the lake, an alligator was swimming toward the shore.
In the house, his mother was looking out the window. She saw the two as they got closer and closer together. In utter fear, she ran toward the water, yelling to her son as loudly as she could.
Hearing her voice, the little boy became alarmed, and made a U-turn to swim to his mother. It was too late. Just as he reached her, the alligator reached him. From the dock, the mother grabbed her little boy by the arms, just as the alligator snatched his legs. That began a very incredible tug-of-war between the two.
The alligator was much stronger than the mother, but the mother was much too passionate to let go.
A farmer happened to drive by, heard her screams, raced from his truck, took aim, and shot the alligator. Remarkably, after weeks and weeks in the hospital, the little boy  Survived. His legs were extremely scarred by the vicious attack of the animal. On his arms, there were deep scratches where his mother's fingernails dug into his flesh; in her effort to hang on to the son she loved.
The newspaper reporter, who interviewed the boy after the trauma, asked the boy if he would show him his scars.
The boy lifted his pants. Then, with obvious pride, he said to the reporter, "But look at my arms. I have great scars on my arms, too. I have them because my Mom wouldn't let go."
You and I can identify with that little boy.
We have scars, too. No, not from an alligator, but the scars of a painful past. Some of those scars are unsightly, and have caused us deep regret. But, some wounds, my friend, are because God has refused to let go. In the midst of your struggle, He's been right there, holding on to you.
The Scripture teaches that God loves you.
You are a child of God. He wants to protect you, and provide for you in every way. But, sometimes, we foolishly wade into dangerous situations, not knowing what lies ahead. The swimming hole of life is filled with peril and we forget that the enemy is waiting to attack. That is when the tug-of-war begins.
If you have the scars of His love on your arms, be very, very grateful.
He will not ever let you go.
Please pass this on to those you love. God has blessed you, so that you can be a blessing to others. You just never know where a person is in his/her life, and what they are going through.  Never judge other persons scars, because you don't know how they got them.
Right now, someone needs to know that God loves them, and you love them too enough to not let them go!!!
God Bless You!"

Blessings to you all.  Enjoy this Precious Day...

Marida / daisy  xx

Oh, my Daisy!

What an incredible story!  Thanks so very much for sharing that with us.  I was just reading today's devotional by Oswald Chambers and one sentence in it had a lot of meaning for me:

If God can accomplish His purposes in this world through a broken heart, then why not thank Him for breaking yours?

thanks for sharing that with us.

Hi, friends, I've certainly enjoyed catching up with everyone this evening.

The poems, stories, and the posts from everyone are so enjoyable.

Tonight I'm thankful I heard from my granddaughter last night, and then my son in England called during my workday. How wonderful to hear from those we love! He told me that the "house" he's renting now onc ewas an ancient chapel. It was so old that in the 1980s when the current owner bought the property, the chapel was in ruins and he restored it, but turned it into a home. He says he still has the church-style windows, etc. I can't wait to get over there so I can see it. May plan to go next spring or next fall, according to how the health and finances work out.

Y'all have a good rest of the day.
...his compassions fail not.  They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.
