Gotta run,

Hi everyone.  It is an overcast day here so far but no indication of rain for our area.  It was a little chilly this morning.

We are having visitors today from Maryland.  These are our friends from Maryland.  He and I use to work in the same location, although never in the same office, and we have been friends for many years.  His son lives in the Atlanta area and when they come to visit they usually on Friday since the son and his wife are working.  We do a lot of visiting and go out to lunch.

Marilyn, sorry to read tha your job situation is not going to work out.  I am sure something else will be coming along very soon.

Ruth Ann, I hope you will be able to make that trip to England to visit your son and see where he is living.  That sounds like an interesting place to live.

JudyB, it seems to early to be having snow.  Of course, down here we seldom have even a few flakes.

Marida, thanks for sharing the story.  Nice to see you posting.

Ruth, I find if I don't use a set of skills for awhile, such as posting of pictures, I have to relearn a bit to do it again.  Guess that is normal.

Janet, I am sure your friend really enjoyed your visit and the luncheon yesterday.  Thanks for the info on your trip.  It sounds like it will be wonderful.

Hi Colin and Samantha.

Yes Samantha  she is the one who didn't want to hear about Jesus. God has a plan and she was not part of His plan for me. Although now I woke up early with thoughts of what  expenses I am going to have to  get rid of. One was my  health insurance that is $100 per month and go back on Medicaid. I really don't want to do that. So I will have to do the cutting elsewhere if I can.

Y-all don't want to hear about my troubles so I am off to the corner for the time being. Move over Jane let's do some Spiritual warfare and Bible study over here.

Merida - thanks for the great story.

Colin - that's the best poem you've yet posted!  Thanks for that!

I'm just getting over a TMJ problem (jaw joint).  Monday and Tuesday it was quite painful, and I was just on the verge of going to the ER.  Finally, Tuesday, I got a referral from my doctor to a Physical therapist who has been trained in TMJ problems, and she's beginning to help me.  It was considerably better yesterday, and today it seems pretty close to normal.  I had a lot of trouble eating, and couldn't sleep in bed.  Had to use the layback chair.  Probably will go back to bed tonight.  Thanks be to our merciful Father.

JudyB

Marilyn God will use this experience to teach you something.  In Romans it speaks of "rejoicing in tribulation", perhaps as you rejoice within your spirit you will see His plan from a bigger vantage point.

Ruth Ann Wow what exciting news, Imagine living in a chapel!  such history!

Larry the snow isn't staying, but it is telling us that it soon will be here for the winter.  It is hard to believe that Christmas is less than 2 months away.  Is anyone else planning for Christmas?

Well I am off.  I am going into NBay for a while.  Mom has requested pizza for lunch so that is on the agenda.

Have a God day

To each their own but I am getting the flu shot and got one yesterday.  I have gotten a flu shot every year but one since early 70's.  Where I worked gave then to us free.  The year I didn't get a flu shot....well, I got the flu and said then, I would never not take the flu shot as long as it was available.  The flu is a scary thing.  And now that I am alone...really scary!  I know....I take a lot of medicine but really and truly and am seldom 'sick'.  And if I am, I know why.  My medicines are not because I feel bad.  A fall cough and cold nearly always finds me just before the flu shot.  And like, Carol, I think the flu shot helps me from getting a cold.  And I asked the nurse and the doctor about the flu shot and Alzheimers and they gave me a weird look as if to say, What?  Both said they have been taking the flu shot for years and they haven't heard anything about the flu shot and Alzheimers.  And said if there was any correlation, they wouldn't give the flu shots!

I guess what I am saying is just because someone writes something doesn't make it so!

And JudyB, I tried the Vicks on the bottom of the feet and I do believe it helped!  Worth a try, anyway!

Larry, I was up after midnight working on my tower.  The case fan didn't fix the whining.  It was only $1.99 so no big cost.  So I took off the side panel with the computer running.  There is another little fan on a vertical pc board that when it was whining, I touched it with a screw driver handle and it stopped whining.  So that one is the problem.  I cleaned the dust from it with a small attachment on my sweeper and used a paint brush to get dust off deep.  Still whined.  Then I zapped it with WD-40.  Seemed to help but still didn't stop it.  Now what to do?  (Have you checked the messages in the Back Room?)

Bright and sunny in central Indiana.  Was 35° when I got up.  Now 50°!  Need to go somewhere to make sure my battery in the car is okay.  If I have to recharge it, then I will go to the place where I get my car maintenance done and find out what is going on!

Pat, I couldn't get your Polar Bear cam to work for me.  I use Firefox.  Didn't work from SrNet either!!  sniff!

Marilyn, God has better things for you to do.  I know you will take your causes to Him on bended knee!

Pat:  So enjoyed the music - it seemed so familiar.  Love when that happens.

Colin:  Colin - come out and play....... your green photo is beautiful - the one by your name.

Al:  Sorry about the TMJ - it can ruin your sleep and cause all kinds of problems.

Judy B:  Christmas - We have bought each of the four kids an emergency weather radio/light/siren/cell-phone charger to keep in their homes.  We have one ourself.  And, if I ever get moving, am going to sew sturdy & large tote bags for the back of their vehicles to use on trips or whatever.  Heavy denium.  Have to use large needles for that twill/denium material and it is always scarey but works out.  Got the pattern from the internet last year.  And, if I have time, want to make pillow cases for each family and put the leftover quilt materials on the ends of the pillow cases.  Just dreaming here.  Thanksgiving comes first and we have added about 5 extra people including a toddler as they have nowhere to go.  Crowded it will be.

Marilyn:  We seached the source of that flu article - that is a chiropracter and I have nothing against the person but he makes some claims that don't stand up in all of our searches.  I have a cousin who never takes the shots and she never catches the flu so with precautions that is good as not everyone can take shots.  I didn't read what is going on with you - just sending you a cyber hug in case   you need it (((((((HUG))))))

Don is a tiny bit better today.  He is staying indoors as it is coolish, sunny but cool now.

Etta Sue:  Are you still mowing?  They will probably mow around here once more, just blew the water out of the sprinkler system yesterday.

Janet:  Not forgetting you.  Liz, and everyone.  Take care of yourselves.

So much to respond to, I'm sure to forget something!  I read the story about the little boy and the alligator shortly after it happened, and reading it again makes chills run up my arms!  Thanks for putting it here!

Yes, Etta Sue--absolutely!  To each his/her own.  I never had flu shots until the past three years, but never had the flu ever.  And I seldom get a cold; maybe once in 3 or 4 years.  I wasn't trying to convince anyone to get or not get the flu shot, just sharing information I found very interesting.  Hope you get the little "whiner" hushed up soon!

Larry, I have learned to post photos and used to post quite a lot, but  I have forgotten how.  Also got discouraged because of lack of responses, as do many.  And I'm as guilty as anyone of not posting responses to the photos.  Shame on me.  :-[

Ruth Ann, I do hope you can go visit your son and spend some time in the Chapel!  How great that will be!

Marilyn, there are so many elderly and infirm people needing help, I'm sure something else will come up soon.  Keep the faith.

When I clicked on the polar bear cam, I got an interesting discussion between three men, talking about the bears, the sea ice, etc---but no bears.  I use Firefox, too.  Will have to try again.

Al, hope your jaw feels all better now.  That TMJ can really be a bear!  Sorry you've had to endure it.

Oops!  Time to go to lunch---later!

In the Garden
(Click for Music)

I come to the garden alone
While the dew is still on the roses
And the voice I hear falling on my ear
The Son of God discloses.

Refrain

And He walks with me, and He talks with me,
And He tells me I am His own;
And the joy we share as we tarry there,
None other has ever known.

He speaks, and the sound of His voice,
Is so sweet the birds hush their singing,
And the melody that He gave to me
Within my heart is ringing.

Refrain

I'd stay in the garden with Him
Though the night around me be falling,
But He bids me go; through the voice of woe
His voice to me is calling.

Refrain

I believe that I remember George Beverly Shea singing this wonderful old song.  This is a great old piano version.  Thanks

Thanks Carol.  I love it and I, too, have memories of Bev Shea singing that.  What a wonderful voice he had too!

Hi everyone.

We had a sunny and sort of warm day today.  My car windows were frozen this morning.  I wasn't expecting that.  Cold if forecast for tonight too.

If you remember I asked for prayer for my sister, who has cancer.  She finally got her appointment with the specialist and it's November 9.  I'm assuming, if I can assume anything, that she'll have the surgery soon after.  From that I guess they'll know if it's spread beyond her uterus?  I don't know much about it.  I just want her to be ok.

I think my grandaughter is moving back in with me. I'm working on it anyway.  She is pregnant. 6 months now, and lives with her dad.  He loves her, but is a smoker and smokes in the house with no thought about Angel, or her baby, breathing it in.  She said she wants to live here, but I think she's afraid it will hurt her dad's feelings, and doesn't have the courage to confront him about his smoking indoors.  We found a couple of dressers for her, and she is talking about what color she wants (I'm painting them) so maybe that means she is closer to moving in here.  She needs a safe place to be for now, and I have room.  Seems I always have room for someone. haha   My sister just moved out.

Pat, that song is so wonderful.  The lyrics are just where so many of us have been.......with Him alone.......and so in awe of His voice saying "You are my very own".   My sorrow for the church is that too few will come to meet the Lord in the garden, rather choosing to meet Him only where others are gathered.  Only in the garden intimacy can anyone really know Him and who He is.   Do you know when this song was written?  I know we've sang it forever, it seems.   Blessings,  Nita

Pat

Nita, your wish is my command!

Hymn Story

In the Garden

Here is the account of how this beautiful hymn was written—from the hymn-writer C. Austin Miles himself:

One day in April, 1912, 1 was seated in the dark room, where I kept my photographic equipment and organ. I drew my Bible toward me; it opened at my favorite chapter, John 20--whether by chance or inspiration let each reader decide. That meeting of Jesus and Mary had lost none of its power and charm.

As I read it that day, I seemed to be part of the scene. I became a silent witness to that dramatic moment in Mary's life, when she knelt before her Lord, and cried, Rabboni!

My hands were resting on the Bible while I stared at the fight blue wall. As the light faded, I seemed to be standing at the entrance of a garden, looking down a gently winding path, shaded by olive branches. A woman in white, with head bowed, hand clasping her throat, as if to choke back her sobs, walked slowly into the shadows. it was Mary. As she came to the tomb, upon which she placed her hand, she bent over to look in, and hurried away.

John, in flowing robe, appeared, looking at the tomb; then came Peter, who entered the tomb, followed slowly by John.

As they departed, Mary reappeared; leaning her head upon her arm at the tomb, she wept.  Turning herself, she saw Jesus standing, so did 1. 1 knew it was He. She knelt before Him, with arms outstretched and looking into His face cried, Rabboni!

I awakened in sunlight, gripping the Bible, with muscles tense and nerves vibrating. Under the inspiration of this vision I wrote as quickly as the words could be formed the poem exactly as it has since appeared. That same evening I wrote the music.

:coffee:  Don was able to sleep all night in our bed - he didn't cough too much.  Dozing a little now.  This is a nasty bug and he was wheezing yesterday but I couldn't get him to go to the clinic as he said that if it was wheezing when he stood, he would  - apparently not bad enough.  His breathing does sound better.

Nita:  I hope all goes well with your granddaughter moving in with you.  She certainly will need the resting and quiet time this final tri-mester.  I don't know the particulars but it sounds like other than her father, she is alone?  And, your sister - her cancer .  You all need a lot of prayers.....

Pat:  Such a interesting story about the Garden song.  When I hear these like-songs, I always think of my dad, who used to sing out around the house pretending to be George Shea.  He wasn't, but no matter - it made our home interesting.

Marilyn:  For some reason, I just "got it" - you are looking for work again.  Praying this morning.  We have one son out of work right now - it just affects everything in your life, unfortunately.

Colin:  Good Colorado morning to you - sending you sunshine and a very blue sky with a cool temperature - snow is on the mountain caps.  Can you see it?

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  It is really cool here this morning, about 49 degrees.  However it is sunny and by the time the football game starts at the University of Georgia it is suppose to be about 68.  Unfortunately they are not televising todays game so I will have to find some others as enjoy watching college football on Saturday.

After coffee this morning I stopped at a big yard sale being held by the Methodist church in their parking lot.  They are also having a bar-b-que luncheon today.  I didn't see anything I wanted at the yard sale and it was chilly so didn't stay long.

I am attending a meeting this morning and then have the rest of the day free.  We had a lovely visit with our friends from Maryland yesterday.  Then last evening our son called and we had a nice visit.  He then sent pictures he took last evening of his daughter, wife and grandchildren in their hot tub.  They were having a very good time.  This is a big change for his daughter and family as they have been living in substandard housing in New York and they are now living in a nice little 3 bedroom house.  God has really blessed our family in bringing about the reconciliation that has allowed these things to happen.  We are anxious to go see our great grandchildren and our granddaughter, whom we haven't seen for several years.  The youngest great grandchild we have never seen, except in pictures.

Pat, the hymn "In the Garden" was one of my mother's favorite hymns and I have always loved it as well.  It was in our hymnbook as I was growing up.

Nita, it is obvious that your arms are open to those of your family who need a good place to live for awhile.  Glad your sister got her appointment.

Etta Sue, it sounds like the whining in your computer may be from the fan on your CPU.

Time to leave.

Janet

Carol, it is a brisk but beautiful day here on the plains of Kansas, too.  I went out and walked over a mile, and when I cam in, my face was really cold.  I put it against Darrel's cheek, and really shocked him!   It is 33 degrees this morning, but no wind, at least not yet.

Marilyn, why don't you just get a regular job at a care home or something, and give up the SSI?  It sounds like too many strings are attached to it, anyway.

Larry, I'm rejoicing with you over the changes in your family.  What an awesome God we serve!

I have two painting projects underway, and think I will go work on them some more.  I have the house cleaned, laundry and dishes done.......yippee!

Nita, prayers for you and yours.

This afternoon we will go to Diane's as Curtis got there yesterday, and he and Toni and the new baby will be heading back to Albuquerque tomorrow.  Of course, we want to spend some time with them before they leave.

Good Morning Everyone!

Great posts to read.  I'm praying for y'all!

I'm off to cut my lawn for the last time.  I had to wait till the frost on it melted.  I might have to go over it twice as it's pretty long.

I'll be back later.

PLEASE go to our Newbie area and scroll down and leave a post in the topics where our new folks have introduced themselves.  It means such a lot to them to be welcomed.  Gradually, we'll encourage them to come into our Thoughts for the Week area but they really need to be welcomed.

Thanks so much!

Here's a link to that board:

And even if you already posted, if the new folks have posted again in their intro, please post acknowledging that?

I woke up with this hymn on my mind today!  Let's sing it altogether!

Until Then

(Click to hear music)

Words and music by Stuart Hamblen

My heart can sing when I pause to remember
A heartache here is but a stepping stone
Along a trail that's winding always upward,
This troubled world is not my final home.

Chorus
But until then my heart will go on singing,
Until then with joy I'll carry on,
Until the day my eyes behold the city,
Until the day God calls me home.
The things of earth will dim and lose their value
If we recall they're borrowed for awhile;
And things of earth that cause the heart to tremble,
Remembered there will only bring a smile.

The things of earth will dim and lose their value
If we recall they're borrowed for awhile;
And things of earth that cause the heart to tremble,
Remembered there, will only bring a smile.

Chorus
But until then my heart will go on singing,
Until then with joy I'll carry on,
Until the day my eyes behold the city,
Until the day God calls me home.
The things of earth will dim and lose their value
If we recall they're borrowed for awhile;
And things of earth that cause the heart to tremble,
Remembered there will only bring a smile.

This weary world with all its toil and struggle
May take its toll of misery and strife:
The soul of man is like a waiting falcon--
When it's released, it's destined for the skies.

Chorus:
But until then my heart will go on singing,
Until then with joy I'll carry on,
Until the day my eyes behold the city,
Until the day God calls me home.
The things of earth will dim and lose their value
If we recall they're borrowed for awhile;
And things of earth that cause the heart to tremble,
Remembered there will only bring a smile.

Good morning.

Ivalou called me this morning.  Sad news.  Betty, who goes to Beef and Boards with us, is in northern Indiana.  Seems her son, Mark, up there has lymphnoma (sp) in his stomach and isn't doing well at all.  He is in his 50's.

Then Marge, who goes to Beef and Boards with us told Ivalou that one of her sons, George, has leukemia .  Was told last Monday that he only had 3 months to live.  But Thursday after further testing he was told he does have a treatable leukemia.  Monday he goes into the hospital for a full week with a continuous drip of chemo.  That's all I know so far.  George is a farmer that lives less than a couple of miles from me.  He has always been a hard worker.  He is in his low 50's.

Then Ivalou said her kitchen had a weird smell.  Then while talking to me, her kitchen light went out.  Two lights are on that switch and only one went out.  I told her to call Kaye Don.  All of a sudden, Ivalou wasn't there.  So I put on my jacket and went over.  Sure enough, it smelled funny.  But Kaye Don and I think her light shorted out or burnt out.  She needs a new light or this one repaired.  She said it has been there since early 70's!  Scared her and scared me...thinking that her phone went out also and perhaps a fire in the attic.

Whew!  Sad morning today.  I know....God is good...all the time.  All the time...God is good.

I need to work on my 2008 calender today to get them updated and ready to print.  I don't know when K Don and Barb will be going to Florida and want them to take their calender with them.

Pat, thank you so much for the information on In The Garden.  I had never heard that.  Such a beautiful story of Holy Spirit Inspiration. :)  And we all are blessed because he wrote down the words.  Praise God.

I'm wanting to drive somewhere and find some Autumn leaves.  We have so few spots here.  I can't afford the gas to drive inland, so maybe I'll be sleuth like and just find the ones that are hiding somewhere.  I'll be the one peeking into people's yards and driving down private roads. Well, not that, but I don't see them along the road like I would if I drove East.  I'll try.

Carol, my grandaughter has my daughter near.  In fact she was living with her and her stepdad, but lots of circumstances mandated that she move in with her dad.  She was always so angry and hurt at her stepdad's actions.
My daughter is expecting too...after 18 years lapse....and she is due before Angel.  Right now her husband isn't working, the mill is almost closing down, and poor Kim has all she can handle trying to be here for Angel, encourage her husband, and pour her own worry over onto the Lord.  Angel talks to the dad, but he left her after she was pregnant. He's in Texas now,  and may be coming back when the baby is born.  He isn't really reliable, but she seems to need him in her life in whatever way she can have him.  She says they are working on stuff.   Poor kid.  She doesn't have a clue as to how hard it will be for her.  And poor Kim......I know she will be caring for her own baby, plus being there for Angel too.  It's a stressful time, but our Jesus is greater than any stress.

I didn't mean to load all that on you all.  Blessings,  Nita

It has been a lovely sunny day a little on the cool side but that is fine.
This morning I went to a serging seminar (sewing) now it has got me thinking that I need a new machine or machines and yes not enough money to buy them , there is nothing to stop me from dreaming.

Speaking of Christmas in a couple of months, this evening we will be meeting with friends and going to a local church for turkey dinner , I can smell the turkey from here.

Etta Sue:  I have made your Green Tomato Pie,  it is soooooo  good, this must be the year to use all those green tomatos as my cousin was telling me about a Green Tomato Mincemeat Pie that she made.

Blessing to all.     Ruth

I know I ain't been around for some time, but you might recall I'm working on finding classmates for our 50th reunion and by the time I spend 2 hrs going through a number of sites to find and verify one or two classmate...I get braindead.

You recall almost a year ago I asked for prayer for our daughter whose husband was involved in porno.......well she filed for divorce.  She has documented proof of his actions...Internet site records, movie store lists of rentals, checkbook withdrawels, and so on.

We still pray for his salvation and our daughter aasked us to pray for Jim for the next six months in hopes that he will see his need for the Lord in his life.

At this point satan has convinced him that the bible is not real, nor is the need for salvation....So Donna & I pray every day for him....and leave the results to God.

Ed, it's so nice to see you posting.  I'm sorry about your son-in-law.  Definitely we'll join you in this prayer request.  Thanks for sharing with us.  Have you been through Guelph at all lately?  Make sure that if you're ever in this area to please let me know.
