JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Hi everyone.  We have a sunny day today but it is really chilly.  I had to wear my leather coat, cap and gloves this morning. I guess you can tell I don't like to be cold.

Our daughter-in-law called last evening saying your son's laptop had bitten the dust and he hasn't been able to get it to work.  So his mother is going to give her laptop to him as he is taking online colleg courses and it is vital to his accomplishment of the course requirements.  At this point he is not in a position to get another computer.  She will go back to using the Netbook.  So we will either meet him half-way or take it on to Augusta sometime this weekend.

Nothing else on the schedule for today.

Janet, sorry to read that the cold is giving you more problems.

Etta Sue

I don't know if I will get the afghan done or not.  I needed another skein of yarn to make it the size it should be.  So after I got my blood drawn and some breakfast in me, I went to Hobby Lobby and they were out of the yarn that I needed.  Then I went to WalMart in Noblesville and exchanged some things and got some things.  And since nothing needed to go in the fridge, I drove past here and went to Anderson's Hobby Lobby.  I got the yarn I needed so now I have to get my fingers going double-time to get it done by 3pm Sunday.  I have about 25 inches done and need 42 inches and then the edge.

I just looked where I got stuck this morning.  I have never looked like carved meat before!  Yuck!!

Okay.....gotta get to crocheting.  I sure hope this momma and her little girl appreciate it!!

Oops, forgot where I was when I mentioned wanting to meet people from S & F, I mean there as well as here - of course.  Mea culpa  <3

Here is an interesting site that is a more concise search engine.

           www.blekko.com

You might want to try it.  Give Google a push - they have too many ads & really do track us online too often.

I have left two messages & called four times to a nursing home - no answer.  Unless their power is out, there is no excuse.  A friend injured her leg in a fall and is there and I want to visit - now.  Sorry if I sound upset but this is unacceptable unless there is a real power problem today.

Carol

Larry:  Just love the music and singing.  It is so powerful.  Thank you for that site.

We were at a school last night & the marching band did a repeat of what they did when they won 8th. place in the state (I missed that because I fell on the walk to the field).  Anyway, it was fantastic - kids are so capable these days, are they not?  Our grandson played his trumpet for the band and at home he played his keyboard along with a trumpet recording he had played so the music blended & I have to say that it was wonderful to listen to - a gift of music.

I went to the Doctor this morning to have my cast removed and the pin pulled out. Yikes that smarted getting the pin out. Anyway now I am in a removable cast, that I can take off for a few minutes each  day to wiggle my thumb and bend it at the first joint. They don't want me to be moving the joint they fixed yet, because they don't want it to get dislocated.

I can get it wet as it is waterproof, but if water gets inside I must take it off and dry  my hand and the inside of the cast. I can wear it in the shower and to give Happy a bath, or take it off, preferably take it off for the shower, (not for bathing the dog they said). Anyway that's the way it is on the Nov. Friday afternoon.  We are going out to dinner tonight to Captain's Choice to have fish.

Hi everyone.  We are down to 35 degrees this morning and suppose to get to 31 tonight.  This will be our first freezing night of the fall season.

I had a very quiet day yesterday and stayed home.  Can't think of anything particular that I accomplished.  Today I will attend a meeting this morning and then settle in to watch college football this afternoon and evening.  I was really tired yesterday evening and went to bed around 8 pm.  Pat is going to be working on a quilting project she and a friend are doing for our church holiday sale to members.  They are making it all out of black and white fabrics and it should be quite striking.  She will be glad to have it finished as working on a quilt with someone else is a bit challenging in putting it together.

Marilyn, I saw your picture of your new cast. It looked like you have a padlock on it.  Glad your hand in coming along well so please be careful and not injure it as it heals.  Sure it must have been nice to have the hard cast cut away.

Carol, I thought that was a beautiful rendering of the Lord's Prayer music and the words on the screen most appropriate.  I am going to check out that new browser site.  I am so used to using Google it would be hard to retrain myself, but possible.

Etta Sue, I can almost hear those knitting needles clicking clear down here.  Glad you were able to find the yarn you needed to finish the piece.  I still have a couple of bruised places from where they took blood, or tried to, when I was in the hospital a few days ago.  Because of the blood thinners I take I bruise very easily, just have to bump into something to create one, and they seem to last a long time.

Do hope we will have some other folks join us here soon.  We miss you all.

Time to head for coffee this morning.

The TV weather map shows clear, the weatherman says cloudy.  And yes, it's cloudy - in fact, out of my window I can see some flakes of that cloudy falling.   ;D

Good morning everyone!

Larry: I enjoy reading your posts every day!
"As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another" (Proverbs 27:17, NIV).
I am so encouraged by the strength God gives you every day. May He continue to bless you and make you a blessing to others, including me.
I live 25 kilometers (15.5 miles) from the nearest coffee shop, so I make my little 2 cupper every morning and sit and read all the wonderful posts.

I'm currently going through my pantry shelves, organizing! I think I need to take some stuff to our church's food basket, as I have too many of some items!

All crafters: I used to do a lot of knitting and have wool sitting around ready to be worked on. I just need to stay still and get something going. Judy B and Etta Sue are such an inspiration.

Carol: I too use Google most of the time. I have bookmarked  http://www.blekko.com/[/font]]http://www.blekko.com/ and plan to see if it works for me.

I have had very little problems with my computer. My son comes up occasionally and runs scans and advises and fixes any my of any problems, however, I DO need to back up some of my files, in case! I'm on a maximum 200 MB daily plan (satellite) so some video and audio sights have to be bookmarked and watched (listened to) between 2:00 A.M. and 7:00 A.M. when they don't monitor our usage.

It's currently cloudy and -3 C (26.6 F) and lots of snow on the ground from yesterday.

Larry that is a knob on the top of my cast/brace attached to some plastic strings laced through the  opening. It gets pulled up to loosen the  strings and then pushed down and turned until it is  the correct tightness.  I have it off right now because I gave Happy a bath and it is very wet. It probably won't take all that long to dry as it is neoprene. The Dr. did a great job on stitching me up you can just barely see the scar and then only because of the scabs that are still there.

Larry and RuthV:
Don checked somewhere about that site and they had a lot of complaints so I am sorry but it isn't a great site like they talked about.  Maybe it is great and google is writing in all the complaints.  I don't care for go.... that much as it seems to take over and doesn't really listen to me on what my search is now.

We tried to watch a podcast of grandson playing hockey in Indiana today - vs Culver school.  He had a nice goal & did well on the face-offs (that is when they intensely stare at the puck & on the call push their stick & try to put that puck exactly towards their teammates. That much I know.  Anyway, they had technical problems and we couldn't watch the game.

Very frustrated - I had to walk away from my latest quilt.

I am DONE!!!  The baby afghan is done, wrapped, bowed and carded!  Ready to go to church tomorrow at 3pm for the baby shower.  I was beginning to think I shouldn't be making it...there were so many 'hiccups'!  Even today.  I was using a variegated to do the edging.  5oz. of variegated.  I did two and a half rounds and had less than an ounce left....used a food scale.  So I ripped out the half round and finished it with the main color!  I like it better!

Needless to say...I am relieved and tired.  I don't think I will ever tackle another baby afghan in five days again!

It has been cold here all day.  There were some flurries yesterday but too warm to stick.  First snow...Nov. 5.  Humm!  Five snows this year.  I will take that!!

I think Ivalou has spent all day at the Lucas Oil Stadium in Indy watching her granddaughter, Kara, in Color Guard for Fairmont High School at Kettering, Ohio.  They come to Indy for the Bands of America competition.  Kara was to perform at 8am this morning.  Bet my sister is tired tonight.  She just got home about a half hour ago!  Long day for her and too much walking!

Don't forget to change your clocks tonight!!!  Or you will be sitting in church tomorrow morning wondering where everyone else is.. ???

Hi everyone.  We had our first freeze last night after a couple of nights with some frost.  It was 30 degrees at 8 am.  However, it is beautiful outside.

We are planning on meeting our son and hopefully our DIL after church at a Cracker Barrel restaurant in Madison, GA.  It is about an hour's drive for us and just a little over that for them.  I haven't seen them in a long time.  We will celebrate an early Thanksgiving as won't be seeing them later this month.

Etta Sue, am proud of your efforts and just knew you would persevere until you got the afgan done in time for the shower.  Now you can sit back, relax, and enjoy the afternoon.  That sounds like a really long day yesterday for Ivalou but expect she really enjoyed it.

Carol, I tried out that search engine site and it seemed to work OK.  However, I don't think it will give Google or Bing much competition.  I like the having the ability to do a search by just typing in the search term on the address line with Chrome and not having to go to a search engine to do that.  Carol, it seems each time we really want to rely on technology, especially something like the game, there will be a glitch.

Marilyn, thanks for the explanation on the cast.  I have never seen one with the knob on it before.

RuthV, thanks for the kind comment.  I am sure glad I don't live 15 miles from the coffee shop as would be wearing my car out.  Going there daily will be one of the last thing I give up as enjoy each day as we laugh and solve the world's problems.  Of course, some of those problems require daily solving but we always have the answers.  :)

Jeanne, I expect it is a lot colder up your way than here.  I was checking the weather this morning and it was 17 degrees warmer in Kansas City than it was here.  Something wrong with that picture.

Jeanne Lee

Larry, when I got up at 7:00 this morning (Yes the clock was set back  ;) ) my outdoor thermometer registered 24 degrees.  So I guess it probably is a bit colder here than in Atlanta!   ;D
