Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Morning Devotional...

What can you expect when you love God?

But when the Holy Spirit controls our lives, he will produce this kind of fruit in us: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.

Galatians 5:22 NLT

Be faithful yourself

When big problems come, there is something in all of us that wants to bail out, throw in the towel, wave the white flag of surrender, and retreat to someplace less stressful.

This explains why so many people under great stress and strain walk away from God, a marriage, a friendship, or a church. When the future looks stormy or uncertain, it becomes easy to rationalize, to jettison one's convictions, to go back on promises.

Before you succumb to panic and start to renege on a commitment, you need to strongly consider God's promise. It tells us that we have something within us (Someone, actually) who desires for us to be loyal and who gives us the courage and grit to hang tough. The Holy Spirit will, if you ask him, enable you to persevere — even in the face of overwhelming trouble.

Praying God's Promise
God, you are always faithful to me. By the power of your Spirit, help me to keep my commitments in tough times. I want to be reliable and trustworthy. I want to be wholly devoted to you, through thick and thin. Fill me with your Spirit so that I have the courage to stand firm.

The Love of God
(Click to hear music)

The Love of God is greater far
than tongue or pen could ever tell
It goes beyond the highest star
and reaches to the lowest hell.
The guilty pair, bowed down with care,
God gave His son to win
His erring child He reconciled
and pardoned from his sin.

Chorus
Oh, Love of God, how rich and pure!
How measureless and strong!
It shall forevermore endure
the saints' and angels' song.

Could we with ink the oceans fill
and were the skies of parchment made,
Were every stalk on Earth a quill
and every man a scribe by trade:
To write the Love of God above
would drain the oceans dry;
Nor could the scroll contain the whole
tho stretched from sky to sky.

Chorus

When worlds of time shall pass away
and Earthly thrones and kingdoms fall,
When men who here refuse to pray
on rocks and hills and mountains call,
God's Love so sure shall still endure
all measureless and strong,
Redeeming grace to Adam's race
the saints' and angels' song.

I haven't been around much the last few days, modem problems.  Fortunately today it seems to be working.  Now to hurry and get done what I need to do before it decides to quit again!

Have a great day Folks!

Janet

Good thoughts to ponder this week, Judy.  Thanks for that.

Our carpenter got here bright and early this morning, and is making progress.  More decisions every little bit....but we will someday get it all done.

I went to town with a list and got my errands all done.  But Lon needs some things from Garden City, so  after Darrel's eye appointment this afternoon, we will head up there.  It's good, though, as I need to choose some lights, and didn't want to do it just from the big catalog the lumber yard handed me.  I'd rather see the real thing.

Anyway, blessing to you all, and see you later.

Well, it's supposed to be "patchy fog" today, so it's clear and sunny!  When it sometimes is foggy, there are no "patches" visible.  The whole sky is either overcast or it isn't.  Oh well, I guess I won't correct the whole world, will I?

Marilyn

Hello everyone, Where is every one anyway? There are usually more posts here be now.

Jane I will be praying for your tomorrow, i hope all goes well with your procedure.

Nothing much new her today. It is however beautiful weather and warm at 68°, a perfect day.

Hi, friends, I'm listening to the piano music of "The Love of God" as I write. Oh, what a blessing that song has been through the years! How wonderful to hear it.

And, since I'm supposed to sing tomorrow morning at our devotional service, I think that will be a good one to sing. And, it's so true, "could the scroll contain the whole" of His blessings, it truly would stretch "from sky to sky."

Today's blessings include a wonderful almost 3-hr visit with my brother, who always includes me in his visits when he's in town. For such a busy man, his fellowship is SO precious to me. That he would take the time to work me into his schedule is absolutely mind boggling.

Jane, hope the procedure went well today. I'll be praying for you this afternoon.

Isn't the love of God truly wonderful! Larry, yes, I really can say from my heart that I love all of y'all - your comments and your cares and blessings mean so much when you share.

Another blessing today is that I got a message from my doctor's office with the results of my latest lab tests - praise His name...normal! Father for this blessing I thank You.

Grace = God's riches at Christ's expense.  God's love and goodness require no payment of any kind from us. Attempting to make payment insults God.

Mercy = God doesn't hold our sins against us.  He doesn 't visit upon us what we deserve.

Oh thank Him for His mercy and grace!

Jane Walker

Yes, indeed, I am scheduled for "the procedure" today (Tuesday) at noon.... I am certainly NOT looking forward to it, but suppose it is a necessary evil at my age ... and the fact that my mother died with colon cancer puts me in the "high risk" category.  This was not something I was wishing to make public, but I willl, most certainly appreciate your prayers.

Hi everyone.  Yesterday turned out to be a pretty busy day for me as after I went to my men's Monday luncheon I went across the street from where we were eating to Aldi's and did some grocery shopping and then to Walmart to exchange the new phone I got for Pat a couple of days earlier that she didn't like to one that has a camera and I think will more suit her needs than the one she has.  I came home and rested and then plugged the phone in and let it charge for 4 hours.  However, after 4 hours I found I hadn't removed the battery from the packaging and it wasn't in the phone.  Fortunately it had some charge so I was able to go ahead and get her new phone up and running by changing the SIM card to the new phone.  Today should be a little quieter although after the routine things for Tuesday although I also need to get a hair cut.  We had a little misty rain while I was at coffee.  My wife told me this morning that our daughter's doctor had signed the necessary forms for Stacey to be able to get someone to come in and prepare meals for her.  She basically now depends on microwave items and already prepared food as it is so difficult for her to stand and do anything in her kitchen.  She also fell coming out of her kitchen a couple of days ago and then two nights ago fell out of bed.  She doesn't need to be falling.

Etta Sue,  glad to read that Ivalou was OK.  I am sure that is always a bit frightening to you.  Sounds like a nice fish fry.  When does your brother and wife leave to move to Florida?

Janet, I agree on being able to see what you are getting in way of lights.  Hope you found something that you really liked.

Ruth Ann, I have asked the man who records our church services to give me the file with the recording of "For the Love of God".  This may be different than the one you know as it is a fairly new composition but probably based on the tune you know.

Jane, hope your procedure goes well.  It sounds like you are having the same procedure most of us have had where the prep is worse than the test.

Etta Sue

My washer gets out of balance a lot lately.  I have noticed the top is lower than it used to be next to the dryer.  Don't know if the whole thing not being level would make it out of balance or not.  Maybe I should ask Kaye Don before he leaves for Florida Sept 25.

Ivalou and I got a trash pickup company to pick up our trash.  It is almost a third cheaper than what Kaye Don paid to another company.  BUT it is picked up by 6:30am!!  I will probably take mine out the night before...especially in the winter!  I am awake at 9pm but not generally awake at 6am!

I am sitting in the living room looking out my front window at a Butterfly bush.  It is loaded with butterflies.  It is cool today and partly sunny.  They must be out feeding today.

I am also going to get two Maple trees trimmed.  One is in my front yard that my Dad planted when he was a little boy...he was born in 1912.  It is lopsided now.  Most of the growth is to the east and the power line from the pole across the road to the house goes through it.  The other is behind my house...it looks like a kid put his finger in a socket...dead branches are sticking out all over it!  It's the one I have had broken branches on this year also.  AND I am having my Tulip Poplar tree cut down.  It looks so pitiful.  It is either diseased or something has killed one side of it.  It has dead branches on the north side and what leaves are on it, are brownish and has holes in them.  So down with it!

Today is Euchre.  It is always a fun time.

Marilyn

Hi everyone, I am getting ready to go for another sleep study tonight. Not much to getting ready I must admit, all I really had to do was shower and  wash my hair and put a tee shirt and shorts    in a bag to sleep in also my ID and my glasses.

I slipped on the wet grass this morning when the dogs took off after one of our cats, I  tried to grab Happy's collar as he was starting to run and I slipped with my  right leg out in front of me then I fell on the leg.  I think I have slightly pulled a muscle. It hurt for awhile but not as much so now. I did go to the gym and did a pretty good work out. I had to go to the bank, the pet store, Dollar tree and the Co-op for something in each place.

Yep, that sounds like a pretty good 'ouchie', Marilyn!  Wet grass can be pretty slippery.  I have walked on wet grass a few times in my life!  ;)

Larry, sorry to hear that Stacey has been falling, for sure, she doesn't need that.  Hope things work out good with the meal preparations.

Today I made another really quick trip back to Garden, attempting to find more of the tile trim pieces, but no luck.  However, I did find a light I liked, so bought that.  We are attempting to do Venetian plaster, and it is really tricky stuff to put on and get to look right!  Beautiful if you get it done correctly, so hope we can do that.  I say 'we' but actually Lon is doing the work.  This is taking FOREVER!!  We are getting tired of being so torn up, but trying to remain patient.  I think the bathroom will be completed by the end of this week, but not sure of anything!  :-\

I am going to pick up my friend Pat, and then go get Beth to go to the Home Products dinner.  The speaker this year is a dwarf (little person) who stars on the TV show Little People, Big World.  Should be pretty interesting.

Now it's off with me!

Hi, friends, well, I have broken another bone in my left foot, so am having some bed rest for today and tomorrow.

Then, wear a walking boot for at least a month.

Jane, hope you'll be fine. And so sorry to learn of your daughter's falls, Larry. How difficult!'

Marilyn, that fall will certainly make you sore - so srry.

Y'all have a great day with our Lord.

This is the 5th time I've had to endure have this done and, if I have any say-so, it is the LAST  :clobber:
I really was having a hard(er) time this morning and nearly chose to avoid it all together.  My neighbor was my driver and, by the time I got home and ATE, I went to sleep until after the 5 o'clock news was half over!  :o
Of course, as in the last three times, no problems were found.  My comment to the doctor was "Toldya!"   :D
I do appreciate your prayers, for sure.  <3

Another broken bone, Ruth Ann?   :yikes:  Please know that I am praying, although it is a pretty tough way to get that bedrest you have been needing.  :)

Hi everyone.  Another busy day passed and this one will also be busy.  This afternoon the appliance repair lady is to be here to work on the refrigerator and the microwave.  The microwave hasn't worked for several years and we have a small one on the counter.  However, Pat decided it is time to get the other one fixed as it is bigger and built-in.  We have Bible study this morning.  The roofing man didn't come out yesterday because it was misty in the morning and threat of rain throughout the day.  He is an hour or more away from us so want to be sure he can get on the roof when he comes out.  I doubt he will make it today either.  Today is choir practice.

Etta Sue, we are also suppose to take out trash out to the street by 6:30 am on pickup days.  I always try to get mine out the night before and then don't have to worry about it.  The neighbors do the same.  The route has usually been run by the time I get home from coffee and my neighbor usually has rolled it back up the drive to the house by the time I get back.

Marilyn, sorry to hear of your fall.  It only takes a second and we are left with aches and pains or worse.  Glad you didn't break anything.  Why are you redoing your sleep study?

Janet, it sounds like your home is going to be beautiful when finished.  I hope you were able to contract for the job and not the hour.  :)  Hope you and Beth enjoyed the Home Products dinner.  What are "Home Products"?

Ruth Ann, are your bone very brittle?  How did you break your foot?  Stacey wears the walking boot a lot as has had at least 17 breaks in the bones of her one foot.

Jane, glad to see you survived your test.

Etta Sue

Please pray for me for my worries/concerns.  I noticed Monday evening that I had some pain on my head above and behind my right ear.  Similar to when your glasses don't fit right and when you take them off, the pressure goes away.  But it wasn't my glasses.  Even noticed it in the night when I turned over.  Yesterday was the same.  But I finally felt a swollen area about the size of a half dollar.  I don't remember of hitting it or being hit with anything.  My weird mind wonders if it is a bleed outside my skull.  It seems like a constant burning sensation at that spot.  Pain from 1-10 with 10 being the highest...about a 2.  I am concerned but not enough to go to the doctor.

All I know is to pray to the healer to take the pain and swelling away.  God is good.

Yep, Marilyn.  You will be sore today.  Especially if you didn't have a good night's rest at the sleep study.

Ruth Ann, you must have brittle bones.  I have never had a broken bone nor do I want any broken bones.  I am very fortunate to be able to say that.

So glad your procedure is over, Jane.  I had two of those procedures before they put you out!  Now that was embarrassing!!  And hurtful!  At least now they give you that la-la juice and when you wake up, it's all over.  So glad you could tell the doctor 'Toldya!'

Janet, it sounds like you are getting a new home.  Sure you haven't had Extreme Makeover--Home Edition visit your place?  Light fixtures?  Did water damage them or do you just want different ones since you are getting a makeover?  And I have seen the show about Little People.  Is she the one that is a doctor/surgeon and her and her husband were trying to have a baby?  Did they have their baby?

Larry, I know Pat will be glad to get her bigger microwave fixed.  I sure use mine a lot.  Saves time and dishes.  Heat and serve in the same dish.  Love it for melting things instead of putting them in the pan on the stove.  And leftovers...great!

Euchre was fun.  We 'gamble' a little bit.  A dollar to play and 25 cents when you are Euchred.  I came out 25 cents ahead yesterday.  Big gambler.  But it makes it more interesting and makes you want to play harder or goof off.  Highest score gets $5, second highest score gets $2 and lowest get her dollar back. (goof off) The person with the most lones gets the quarters from the Euchres.  I tied for second highest...$1 and had to spit the quarters...$1.  I was Euchred three times.  So I was a big winner of 25 cents!  $7 is about the most anyone goes home with.  Highest score and most lones.

It looks like a typical fall day outside today.  I was going to mow but I think I would be wasting my gas so I am not going to mow.  The grass hasn't grown that much this past week.  It is cloudy and a little windy.  67 degrees.  Nice fall day!

Oh, Ruth Ann!  So sorry about your foot.  Please do take care of yourself and rest and heal.  Good time to do some writing.... ;)

I sent an email to the copyediting person at Tate Publishing last night and got a reply this morning.  She says the process is moving along smoothly and will go to conceptual editing by the first of October.   :-\  I was hoping they would speed up the process!

Larry, I hope you get both the refrigerator and the microwave repaired and that is not too costly.  I am debating about what kind of hood to get for over the range in my 'new' kitchen....Lon recommends a built-in microwave with a hood....hmmmm.  I don't know about that, as it may become difficult to reach high to put things in or out of the microwave in the future.  For Darrel, not me!   ;)  I intend to stay healthy, strong and able-bodied until Jesus calls me home!  (Doesn't everyone?)

Jane, you sound like me.  I had my first ever of those procedures around a year ago, under protest.  But, to be honest, it really wasn't bad, and I didn't even mind the preparation that much.  And my attitude was also 'I KNEW there wasn't anything wrong!'  I am so glad he said 10 years between those now, instead of five.  So ONE may be all I ever have!   :)

Guess what?  I get to drive back to Garden City today, third day in a row!  We need more 'stuff' from Home Depot!  And that is 120 miles each trip.  Sigh.....

Larry, the Home Products dinner is food grown exclusively in Grant County where we live.  The only things served that are not grown here are the tea, coffee, salt and pepper!  This is a huge undertaking involving almost every group or organization in the county, working in unity to produce prepare and serve a wonderful meal.  The tickets are only $6 (increased by one dollar this year) and the profits go to the Scholarship fund.  From 1500 to 2000 people are served each year.  I love going to it, it's such a great example of what we can accomplish when we all work together.  The Citizen of the Year is announced at this dinner, too.

Our Lt. Governor, who is a medical doctor, was here, and he also spoke.  I enjoyed that, as it was more like he was sitting across the table and just visiting with us.  He is very personable.  The main speaker also sort of visited; telling us about his early life and the hardships of many surgeries, months and years in huge body casts, and what he managed to do in spite of his handicaps.  The mayor of Hugoton is also a "little person" and he was there, along with his brother, who is also a dwarf.  They don't seem to mind the term dwarf, but greatly resent being called a midget.  I find that a little strange, as don't understand the connotations the term midget implies.

Okay......that's all, folks!

OOPS!  Hi, Etta Sue!  You popped in while I was typing.

Marilyn

I am sore today but  not where I expected to be  sore. It is my right shoulder and right  side of my neck. I am sitting here wearing the ice pack around my neck and resting on my shoulder. It is once of the gel packs that I got from the Medical supply house in Eureka when I lived in Ca.

Yikes Ruth Ann another broken bone in your foo, take it easy woman!!

Larry our big microwave is probably at least 20 years old if not older. My little one sits on the counter under the big built in one. I use both of them sometimes at the same time depending on what I am cooking or warming.

Etta Sue I Know the the Healer will take away all your pain  there on your head. He will also take away your worry  We are told in the Bible not to worry.  God is in Control.

Janet it sounds like you had a wonderful time at your Home products dinner.
I think you must be tired of going back and forth to garden so many times 120 miles is a long trip and takes up a lot of your time.

Bible Study this morning & it is always so good.  I am heating a portion of chicken noodle soup/casserole - just invented it but it is tasty.

Every day is booked with something & I will go with Don to his Friday doctor appointment with the internist.

Ruth Ann:  So sorry to read about a foot bone breaking.  You don't need that hardship.

Al:  Thanks for your thoughts on Grace and Mercy.  We are so blessed.

Jeanne:  Your avatar doesn't show after Larry's posts - someone fixed the problem.  Surely, not I.

Marilyn:  Sorry about your slip on the wet grass - it is scarey just to walk sometimes.

Larry:  Stacey will appreciate having someone fix a meal for her.  Blessings and prayers for her as she copes with her daily routine.

Soup/casserole is on!  It tastes fine - I just added more seasoning and more noodles to the dish.    A bit more sustenance than soup and not quite as filling as a casserole.

Janet

Etta Sue, I only saw two episodes of Little People, Big World, and those were of the couple trying to have a baby, but she was told it would endanger her life to carry and deliver a baby.  So I don't think it was this guy who was here.  He and his wife have four children, two normal sized and two dwarfs.  And one normal and one dwarf are twin boys!

And no, the water didn't damage any lights, we just needed some new ones.  We are repainting all the ceilings, as all walls have to be painted because of water stains, and what better time to paint ceilings than when you are down to bare concrete on most of the floors?  But we are getting tired of being torn up, wish Lon would hurry!  But one can only do what one can do.   :-\

Guess you can tell I am back home again.  Sure hope I don't have to go to Garden tomorrow!!  Would be fun if I had time to do other than find the needed stuff for the house!

Well, I've read in reputable diabetes magazines that diabetic women who do not take insulin but are controlled with diet and pills are more likely to have broken foot bones after they are eligible for Medicare.

My bones started breaking about 3-4 years before that. This must be about the 8th or 9th time I've had to wear a full foot to knee walking cast. They're uncomfortable, etc, but it's certainly wonderful that the doctors and researchers have developed a means other than staying on crutches or being in a wheelchair.

Yes, it's about time for me to let other do more of the running, I guess. But what a way to enforce it! I must be a slow learner.

:uglystupid:

Well, y'all have a good rest of the day.

Love to each of you who come here to chat and who drop by to read. May our Lord be with us and comfort each of us will be my prayer this evening.

Ruth Ann, long ago I had that lesson forced upon me, too .... I fell, in a very unconventional way, and broke my heelbone and really messed up my ankle on the left foot/leg .... It surely put a fast halt to my running around, for sure.  I had to stay completely OFF that left foot ... not even rest it on the floor ... and then graduated from the recliner (with the foot stuck up in the air) to a walker and then to crutches and eventually a cane .... I still move much slower than I ever did before ... but I believe it has been a good thing, after all.  May our Lord keep you in His peace throughout all this and give you strength and encouragement in your spirit.   <3

When I went to bed last night I told myself if my head swelling was different or larger, I was going to the nurse.  I am going at 10:45am.  I couldn't sleep on that side last night.  It is a constant stinging but when I touch the area it is pain.  So I think it is time to find out what is going on.

Will let you all know when I get back.

ok I have red all the posts......and all the pain that is being endured......know that as I  have "J" nights that you are all upheld in prayer.  WOW is all I can say!

I am on my grandson's computer, at Heather's.  while she tries to de-bug my computer.  I openened a virused email from Canada Post, they couldn't find our address.....and I thought something was being sent to John at our RR#2 address.  As soon as I was clicking on the attachment I knew it was a mistake.  Turned out to be a really bad one.  It seemed to errase both AVG and Microsoft Essentials, so I couldn't even get to them to stop what was happening.  Kass in her wisdom shut the puter down.......oh well it will worlk out in the long run.

Larry would that reformatting program get rid of the virus?

RuthV When you get home call me ok?

Etta Sue

The nurse said she thought it was a pocket of infection since when she pushed on the area, it hurt.  So I am on Kelflex for 10 days.  If worse or a change, call to come back in.  But it is between the skull and skin and since the skin is tight on the skull, any swelling or infection hurts.  If there is a name for it, she didn't say!

Just hope I am better hourly!

Ruth Ann Bice

My goodness gracious! - as my grandma used to exclaim.

Here's hoping computer viruses are healed, sore muscles recover, infections clear, bones heal, and that our love for our Lord will never waver, even through trials and tribulations.

Much love to all,
Ruth Ann
