JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Our County is giving the H1N1 shots for free, today here in North Bend they will be giving them at the  mall. I am going to get mine ads my Dr. said I definitely need one because of my Asthma. I heard on the news yesterday the up in Eugene, about 2 hours from here, they are charging $15. per shot.

Then I am going to  walk through the mall and see what is there. It is a small mall and I have only been in Joanne's and walked through Ross, Keith and I went part way through when we got Fritzy from the Animal Shelter display there. Kieth designed the new part of the mall,  it has two floors and an Atrium ceiling.

Time for another  :coffee:.

It is a beautiful sunny day up here in the Near North..... The snow is glistening with thousands of infinitesimal small jewels!!
I just looked outside at our thermometer; -23 C or about -30 F. I think I will stay inside and enjoy that  :cup: with Marilyn!

RuthV

:P Oooops  -9 F, sorry everyone!! Feels a lot warmer now!!

Jeanne Lee

Gee, Ruth.  I'm sure glad you cleared that up.  I am much warmer with that change!  ;D

Looks like our part-time member is back!  Hello, Anthony!

Larry ~ Our news was telling about the terrible accidents around Atlanta due to the ice on the interstates yesterday.  I don't remember if there were any fatalities or not.  Just glad you, Pat or Stacey weren't out in it.

I am all ready for a new mattress and box springs.  The old one is stripped and the linen is clean and folded.  Those sheets won't fit the new mattress.  I did find two sets that will so I have three sets for the new one!  All my other sets are bagged up for GoodWill!

All I have to do before delivery now is move the chair I am sitting in and the table beside it.  They called yesterday and said I was 14th on the list so delivery would be between 4 & 7 pm.  I hope they get here today.  I really don't want to make up my bed again to sleep in it!

More snow today.  It has been flaking since I got up.  Ivalou and I did get the drives opened by nephew, Nick.  But he broke a cable that lifts the snow blade on his 4-wheeler!  I just saw a Jeep turn in my drive.  Jeff, nephew-to-be, went back to the woods..pushing snow all the way.  He is probably cutting wood for their fireplace.  This snow is a dry snow so when you walk or drive in it, it fluffs!  It isn't good snowman snow at all!

It is suppose to get to +1° by morning.  I am so thankful that this heat pump works in this cold weather.  I am wondering if since it is on an interior wall if it heats the inside air and circulates it.  Whatever it does, it works!!

I think I will head to Lapel to the bank and may just get me a pizza at Pizza King!  Sounds good!

JudyB

G'mornin Ruth, it is almost afternoon.

Gord is Dan still with you?  Let him do the shoveling, he's younger than you.  At our age we need to be careful about this, snow is heavy. Have a good weekend brother, give Noreen a hug for me. Tell her to give a call sometime.

Larry half the problem with the roads is that you in the south are not accustomed to driving on them.  You are wise to stay home to avoid any problems.  We have this every year, for 4 - 6 months depending on where we live.  Snow and ice are expected.  I am always nervous for the first month or so till winter habits are instilled.

Etta Sue I hope you love the new mattress.  It sure will be nice to have it all set up.

Some members seem to have problems getting on the site.  They have new computers or software problems.  It must be so frustrating for them.

Larry I am glad your daughter is able to do the IRS work.  She must be really talented.

I am going to check out other posts.  Have a good day, stay warm, and wait on God.  It never hurts to wait for an answer!

Jeanne Lee

Judy, we're a little warmer than you, but when it gets down this low, who can tell the difference?  I only have trouble keeping my face warm in the wind.  And you're right, every year it takes at least one good snowfall before people learn all over again how to drive in it - and then there are the youngsters with the first year of their first license.

Gord Brown

 :)  Hi to all.

Judy B.:  Danny has moved to his own apt. just the other day and his wife has moved up here and they hope that they can get there marriage back together so please pray for them but most of all pray that they would give themselves to the Lord.

Larry:  It is so good to hear that your daughter is feeling better and that she hopefully will be able to work Praise God for answered prayer.   Yes be very careful outside as it is so easy to fall and then break bones and they do not heal like we would like them to.  God bless.

Again have a blessed day tomorrow in Gods House. :) :laff: :cp:
T Gordon Brown

Carol

Anthony:  You made the right decision to stay home.  Here, we can get warnings to not drive unless it is necessary.

Gord:  Sorry to hear about the pain she is suffering - prayers for healing. It is nice that your son is moving closer.

JudyB:  Good that you did not have any broken bones - you just don't have time.

Here, I drove a neighbor to a quilt shop for a demonstration this morning.  Also ordered a new purse over the internet as it was on sale - lucky me.  I have to have a purse with separate places for certain things as it seems to keep me more organized & I just do not want to rummage through a purse to find anything.  My mini file cabinet.  Feeling a little better today - it must be the warmer weather.  Yesterday, I was a sloth.

JudyB

Carol do you have a long arm quilter?  If so what is the brand....Do you like it?

Gord give Dan a copy of the DVD Fireproof, along with the Love Dare book.  The book is a 40 day journal.  The movie is fantastic and the journal is amazing.  Well worth the cost. Canadian the Love Dare is $17.50, US 14.99.  There is also a written book based on the movie. (Maybe the movie is taken from the book!)  Kirk Cameron is a devoted Christian and it shows in this movie.

Jeanne The car didn't want to start today in the cold I guess we will have to start plugging it in. Elizabeth is getting her license this year. We have stalled in permission till the spring.  There was no way she was going to begin to learn in this weather. We have snow pack on the roads, and at least we know it isn't black/gray ice. The biggest thing I dislike, are the frost heaves.  Our road is getting worse every year. That is really hard on the suspension.

We are listening to the Gaither's Homecoming on TV.  It is so great to be able to tune in to this.

Doug gave us a play station this week, they got something better.  We are having fun wasting time with it.  It is a good stress relief for the girls as they prepare for exams. Kass really suffers with stress, and looses a lot of weight as a result.

Kass is making Pizza Pockets (enclosed pizza) for dinner.  She enjoys doing dinner.

Be back later.

Be of good courage, be not afraid for the Lord your God is with you whithersoever you go.  Joshua 1:9

Liz

I really have little to say, so won't stay long!

Sorry about your wee dog, Pat.  Such a sweet little fellow.

Congratulations on the new baby, Sarah.  I deleted my Facebook ages ago, so please post a picture here.  Would love to see her.

The weather here on the island is so horrible.  Days of endless rain.  I almost would like to see snow in order to view something bright!  Jan. is not my fav. month of the year.

Here is a little smile for those so inclined....

Humidity is the experience of looking for air and finding water.

A blizzard is when it snows sideways.

Don't knock the weather; nine out of ten people couldn't start a conversation if it didn't change once in awhile!

Probably the last completely accurate forecast was when God told Noah there was a 100 percent chance of precipitation.

If you see a heat wave, should you wave back?

The wind is like the air, only pushier.

You can listen to thunder after lightning and tell how close you came to getting hit. If you don't hear it you got hit, so never mind.

Climate is what you expect. Weather is what you get.

                 :)

Pleasant Day/Evening and God Bless.

Janet

I love those "chuckle lines" Liz!  Thank you.  So sorry about your soggy weather; I would not like that, either.

Judy, glad you are okay.

Larry, stay safe!  Glad Stacey feels up to working again.  That's good.

I went to my painting meeting today, took a new friend from church and she really enjoyed it.  In fact, she wants to join the group.

Darrel had a night sweat again last night.  He said it took a full hour at the hospital to get his med this morning.  He is ready to be well again.

I don't really have any news; just wanted to greet you all.  GREETINGS!!  ;)

Well, we had a happening here today!  We had an earthquake, mag. 6.5, just off the coast near here.  No reported damage, but I experienced several books coming down off my shelves here in the study.

Jeanne Lee

Oh, Al.  I hope you weren't sitting under those shelves when the books fell.  ;D

Al Moak

Thanks for the concern, Jeanne, but, no, wasn't under them.  But I still haven't picked them all up yet.  I got an award, years ago, for a trade jounal that I published for my employer.  The award was a kind of plack.  It fell.  I do think the earthquake could have had a bit more decency than that!  It was a real rough-and-tumble quake, and it lasted for maybe a minute or two.  I honestly don't think I could have walked while it went on - wouldn't have stayed on my feet.  So it was a pretty heavy one.

Marilyn

Sarah's my DIL said her parents are cleaning up the broken dishes that fell out of the cupboards. The kids have no power in Blue Lake at least they didn't an hour or so ago. Willa was ok but her brother out on Old Arcata Road near Indianola had a mess to clean up too.

ZZZzzzzz!!!  I slept wonderful.  It was those night trips that I forgot that my mattress is about 6 inches higher than the old one!  And the cats really have to jump to get on the bed.  I let the cats do the jumping...no jumping on the bed for me!  But when I slept, I really slept good.  And yes, they didn't get here until 7:50pm.  But I was willing to wait until 11 just so I got the mattress and box spring.  I had the bed made up by 8:30pm.

I hadn't heard about the earthquake.  Glad Al and Marbeth are okay!

Well, Mr. Weatherman missed it by 10 degrees.  Prediction was +1 degree but it is 10 degrees!  No wind so that is a blessing!

I am greeter at one of the doors at church this morning so I have to be there a tad earlier than usual.  Betty is greeter with me.  Ivalou said that Marge was going to take her to church but the last I looked...no lights at her house.

Have a wonderful God's Day!!

Anthony

Good morning to everyone (well, it's afternoon now).  I was so pleased that I didn't even have to scrape ice off my windscreen this morning, just drove straight to church and had a blessed meeting.  It is snowing heavily now though and I think it's going to be a different story in the morning :-{

Judy, I am sorry about your fall and I trust that you will mend quickly.

Hi Janet, I read that your husband is not very well - I do pray that things will improve for him.

Gordon, will be praying for your wife.

Larry, I am glad that you have been able to get out a bit.  I did not like staying in for three days, but at least the central heating is working.

Marilyn and Al, I couldn't believe the news about the earthquake.  Praise God that He is able to keep His children in safety even through earth quakes and storms - we are all thinking about you.

RuthV I am so glad that you made a mistake about the -30o  Iwas beginning to worry then :-)

Etta Sue, thank you for the welcome back.  I am so impressed with your paint shop pro creations - thank you for your effort - it is cheering to see them.

I will have to sign off now, because my laptop is playing up - God bless all.

Anthony.

Ruth Ann Bice

Hi, friends, I'm a bit chilly today - our temps are really cold, too (wind chill at zero, actual temp is 9 degrees).

Today, my gratitude is that my several months "blue" period seems to be lifting. Thank You, Father!

Love to all,
Ruth Ann
...his compassions fail not.  They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.

Anthony

Ruth Ann - I'm glad that your mood is lifting.  I know about blue moods - at least experiencing them helps us to sympathise with others who go through the same things.  May the Lord richly bless you.

A friend of mine just shared this interesting theory.  I wonder what other people think about it.

"Aoccdrnig to rscheearch at an Elingsh uinervtisy, it deosn't mttaer in waht oredr the ltteers in a wrod are, the olny iprmoetnt tihng is taht the frist and lsat ltteer is at the rghit pclae. I didn't have any problem reading that at all.  Perhaps they are right  ^-^ ^-^ ^-^

Al:  A minute long earthquake seems to go on forever.  I am glad that you are alright.

JudyB:  Nope, I do not have a long arm machine and really never want to get into that end of quilting.  I have machine quilted small things, runners and so forth but the big one I am working on now will go to a pro.  I have a frame and have tied many a quilt but the "good" gifts are sent out.

      Carol, I love those!!

We are just home from church (a little while ago) and have dinner (lunch?) warming on the stove.  We will be going to eat with friends again this evening, same couple as last Sunday plus another couple.  That's a really good thing, and I'm jazzed about it.

Thanks for asking about Darrel, Anthony.  He is still working on receiving his healing.  ;) Three more days of getting IV antibiotics, then will be checked again; of course we are hoping this will do it.

Ruth Ann, so good to hear the blues are going away.  That's not really your color!  ;)  I hope things continue to improve for you.

Mr new friend from church who went to the painting meeting with me yesterday brought two hand-painted tee shirts and gave them to me today, saying one was for me and one for Beth.  Isn't that sweet?  And both are purple, both of us love purple!

The weather here is really nice today, about 43* I believe--and NO WIND!!   ;D 8)

I haven't yet been called to cook this week, so maybe the cooks are back for the Sr. center.

Etta Sue, good to read your new mattress set afforded you good sleep!

I saw on TV this morning about the earthquake, glad to read that Al and also Marilyn's family are all right.  Another of the many signs of the end times!

I hope you all enjoy your afternoon, whether napping, visiting, watching football, or whatever!  ^-^

Hi everyone.  It has been a very pretty day here, cold but no wind.  It was warm in church this morning, in fact, it was almost too hot.  There was a good crowd attending despite the cold.  The road are fine here now, especially those that have any significant traffic.  Where we live we didn't get as much snow or resulting ice as some other areas.

Pat appears to be coming down with a cold or sinus infection.  She stayed in this morning and doesn't have any energy.

Al, glad you didn't have damage from that earthquake.  I think you have to experience one to appreciate how helpful one feels while they are occurring.  I can still remember a few of them while we lived in Alaska in the late 1960s.

Etta Sue, glad you were able to get a good night's sleep on your new mattress.

Anthony

God bless to everyone.  I'm just off to bed.  I start a new job tomorrow doing care work.  I wanted this as a career after looking after my mum; I'm looking forward to it.

Janet am thinking about Darrell and yourself.  God can do wonders.

Sorry for the short post, but feeling a bit bushed.

See ya tomorrow after work.

Anthony.

Anthony, it's good to "see" you here again.   I'm glad you were able to get to church without having to scrape ice..  I think you will do very well with your new job as care giver.  You have had experience with caring for your mother and you have a compassionate heart.   :)

I have had a bit of "adjustment" today, to get connected to the internet.  I am still on dial-up, and the number dialed is a local number ... however, Oregon is adding a new area code, which makes it necessary to dial 10 digits for any number -- even locally.  I couldn't connect to the internet!   :-\   Finally, after much "discussion" and setting adjustments, I have a "temporary connection" and the tech is sending me a new CD for my ISP.   Lotsa fun!

Now everything is extremely slow because I was using PeoplePC accelerated to browse the internet and now that is "temporarily" out of service!   :ticked: That's okay, I can always play Solitaire while I wait.
Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass .... it's about learning to dance in the rain!
