Morning Devotional...

The Greatest Preacher Since Paul?

It is better to have self-control than to conquer a city (Proverbs 16:32, NLT).

Dear friends:

Some years ago, a young man emerged as a powerful evangelistic preacher. He was handsome, intelligent, and so exceptional that he was even courted by Hollywood.

After one eloquent sermon, he was described by the press as "the greatest preacher since the apostle Paul."

Ten years later, however, the young man was found dying of cirrhosis of the liver, too weak to continue supporting himself as he had been by selling trucks at a local dealership. Sadly, alcohol and financial irresponsibility were blamed for taking his life just days later.

Clifford lacked one essential quality necessary for sustained leadership: self-control. And it is the lack of self-control that frequently renders a disciple of Christ spiritually impotent and fruitless.

I once counseled and prayed with a husband and wife who were struggling with a problem of self-control in the area of overeating. Because of their overweight, they had lost self-confidence and were plagued with guilt. As a result, their witness for Christ was greatly hindered.

Then one day, while reading the Scriptures, they realized that their bodies were the temple of the Holy Spirit and that they were actually dishonoring the Lord by their lack of self-control.

In a spirit of brokenness, they prayed, "O, God, please help us. We have tried and failed again and again. Now you must help us. We invite you to control our appetites. Help us to be more careful in choosing the kind and quantity of food we eat."

In answer to their prayers of faith, God enabled them to discipline themselves. In time they slimmed down. Their self-confidence returned, and they again became bold witnesses for our Lord.

After counseling with thousands of people through the years, I am convinced that an undisciplined Christian cannot be an effective witness for Christ.

Do you lack self-control in some area of your life? You may not have a problem with alcohol or overeating, but you may be struggling with a critical spirit, with lustful thoughts, addiction to pornography, a feeling of defeat, an uncontrollable temper, or something else. Take it to the Lord in prayer. Ask for His help. Believe Him for the answer that you know is His will, according to 1 John 5:14-15: "This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us -- whatever we ask -- we know that we have what we asked of him" (NIV).

God says, "It is better to have self-control than to control an army" (Proverbs 15:32, TLB).

Yours for helping to fulfill the Great Commission
each year until our Lord returns,

Bill Bright

:)   Al:   Thanks for the good devotional and it is always good anyway.  Bill Bright is a wonderful person and I remember when he came to our church in Toronto.  I hope that you are o.k.

Judy B. How are you feeling I hope that you are getting your strength back.   Take it easy sis. <3

To all others you all have a wonderful week and give it all to the Lord. :)

Thanks Al, for that great devotional.
I can relate to this in many ways.  Lately, I have been slack in my eating habits.  A few months back, I started eating better, healthier foods....then I started slacking off.  I can really tell the difference in the way I feel.  I have just recently started to get back on track with eating better.  When I do, I feel so much better.  I have to remember to lean on & trust in the Lord in this aspect of my life, too.  After all, as mentioned in the devotional, my body is a temple of the Lord.  I should treat it that way.  Now I just need to lay off the Starbucks coffee!   :coffee:
LOL!
I hope everyone has a blessed and safe week.  I start my 3rd week of my new schedule.  Still adjusting.  But I thank the Lord every day that I have a job, and one that really works for me to boot!
Prayers and Blessings,
Kelly

Hi everyone from a rainy Georgia.  It was rainy most of the day yesterday until late afternoon when we had a period with no rain.  Tomorrow is suppose to be dry and up to 71 degrees.

Nothing new to report on Stacey.  Her mother talked with her this morning and she was upset because she was suppose to be NPO last night and no one told her.  They were going to do a stress test this morning (I am assuming it would be a chemical one as she can't walk more than a few steps and would do terrible damage to her foot on a treadmill.  However, they had to cancel it as she started having chest pains again.  We tried to call a little while ago but she didn't answer so may be having some other testing done.  Thank you all for your prayers.  I know that God is in control and that allows me peace of mind even in times like this.  At this point I don't think we will be making a trip to Atlanta today.  I expect to go tomorrow afternoon as the man is coming to replace the batteries in her wheelchair at 2 pm.

Last night we had our choir chili show and talent supper.  We estimate somewhere between 200 and 250 people were in attendance and I think a good time was had by all.  The free will offering raised over $800, which will be used for choir needs and for special holidays when we need instrumentalist or special soloists.  I helped open many packages of hotdogs and then had to sit down as was having chest pains again.  We made it through our fun song that the men sang.  We were suppose to be sailors and it was a humorous song that seems to go over well.  The ladies did a number that used classical music, such as the 1812 Overture, as if it were sung by chickens (hens).  They wore their choir robes with yellow stoles and one of the choir ladies made little beaks that each of the women wore.  The pianist had tail feathers and paraded across the stage before sitting at the piano.  I took a few pictures and if any of them turned out I will see if I can post one.

I went to the gym this morning and was able to walk a half-mile without bringing on pain so am hopeful the new medication is starting to work (which it wasn't yesterday).  I am taking it twice a day.

Our housekeeper is here today and she is also has her beauty license and is giving Pat a haircut before starting the housecleaning.  I have a luncheon to attend at 1 pm.

Al, thanks for posting the Devotional for this week.

Marilyn

Good Morning My last three days that I am available are going to be filled with meals with friends, This morning I have been to Curves, I am going to Tai Chi, then at  11 I have Physical therapy at noon lunch in Eureka with my Chiropractor and another friend. Tomorrow it is breakfast with a friend, Taco dinner with Willa and her family. Wednesday I have to be here from 10-1 waiting for the Cable man to come pick up the HBO box and remote and my last PT appointment at 2:30. Somewhere in these three days I need to go recycle the last of the trash, finish packing, get my nails done and gas my car for the trip  to Oregon to pick up Keith. Whew I am already tired.

Have a great day y-all.

Al Thank you for posting that devotional for Janet.  You are such a blessing.

Have a good day everyone.

I had better hurry with this Good Morning.  It is almost noon!!!

Larry, so sorry to hear Stacy and yourself are having problems.  God Bless Both of You!

Marilyn, don't you wish your were Samantha on Bewitched?  Just wiggle your nose and you would be moved and settled in Oregon?

We are suppose to have nice warm weather this week in Indiana.  Spring is coming...one of God's promises...Seasons.

Nothing else new here!

This weeks devotional was speaking to me.

Judy:  Too many carbs for me as well.  I need to get back on track in a positive way.

Larry:  So sorry to hear of Stacy and her problems.

Marilyn:  You have a very busy time in the next few days.

I had made a phone call and changed an appointment and in a few minutes I need to make another to schedule an appoointment easy to do, then will hide in my corner with some knitting.  A sign of spring, Mel is out doing a little of the tree trimming and yard clean up and earlier I had been out chatting with our neighbor.

I will be on my way.    Ruth

Ruth Ann Bice

Hi, friends,

I've appreciated getting caught up on CP today. Now, it's time to head for the laundry room. I think, instead of a book, I'll take a magazine or two to read.

Someone called to ask me to do a bit of consulting for my old company. That's exciting!

And, someone else invited me to play the piano again for a devotional period the last of the month and also asked that I sing a solo at that time. Yikes! How many years since I sang in public???  ::)

Well, the laundry's sittin' here watchin' me, so I'd better quit procrastinating!  :D
...his compassions fail not.  They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.

JudyB

Ruth Ann I hear you about laundry.  I have a load to do as well and the girls have theirs to do as well.  I am on strike when it comes to their laundry.

Kass is making dinner, and Elizabeth is doing the fire.  I need to take Elizabeth to Dougs for the week to look after the boys.  This will give me some time to start renovations in her room.  I am wanting to paint it but have the walls to fix first.  They are the very old thin wood type of walls not plaster or drywall.  I just want to pretty it up for her.

Kass and I will have a good time alone together, one on one.  We are looking forward to that.

Ruth I have lost weight, but have more to go and the carbs are the hold back.

Must run

Carol

Al:  Thank you for devotions.  Food for thought!

I was reading posts in here this morning when Don came in a hurry to say that I had to get off the computer for his SKYPE teleconference - we were forgetting that AZ does not spring ahead on time.  Six hours he is on the phone with only a couple of breaks so I drove a friend to lunch and then a mall.  She bought grandbaby clothing for the baby arriving from South Korea in April.  Fun.

Marilyn:  Your move is getting close.

My cousin canceled tomorrow's lunch here - was going to make quiche for six of us and fruit salad.

Stay well everyone.

Ruth Ann Bice

Larry, I certainly hope your daughter's feeling better today - do please take care of yourself.

While I was waiting for the dryers to stop, my cell phone rang - my cousin on the 8th foor. "Ruth Ann, I cooked too many white beans this weekend, can you come by and get some?"

Well, OF COURSE I could!  We enjoyed an hour of chatting, singing hymns together with me playing her beautiful old fashioned upright piano and harmonizing with me on lead and her singing a wonderful alto.

What a delightful time we had!

Y'all have a great rest of the day.

Ruth Ann

Oh, by the way, the beans were delicious.
...his compassions fail not.  They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.

Carol I will come for quiche and fruit salad!  I love them both!

I am leaving in a minute for Dougs.  So I am off and will be back tomorrow.

Al Moak

Well, today is Katie's Krafters for Marbeth (they make quilts, lap robes, etc.), and I take her there then go over to "The Coffee Break" to read the paper and study a bit.  I've got to get all studied up, because it's this coming Sunday that I preach here.  We're going to be looking at the first Beattitude: "Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of God."  I've got an outline ready, but I've still got to get me ready!  Then I'll go back over, get Marbeth, and we'll do our weekly shopping at the CoOp.  God bless all y'all.

Etta Sue

The luck of the Irish to you all!!  Ha!

What a beautiful day in Indiana!  Bright sunshine.  I hear birds singing and I see grass greening up!  I even see a hint of color on the bushes that will be budding soon!  I am thinking this might be a day to shut off the furnace, the fireplace and the solar heat...open a few windows and let in some fresh air!

But first, I need to go to church and install some images and clip art in the computers and go to the bank and make a deposit!

This afternoon is Euchre at neighbor Jane's house.  I just know that will be fun!

Also I downloaded Skype!  Rex, my classmate in Mexico, and I used Skype last night.  He asked me why we didn't do this sooner?  Well, I told him because a stubborn person in Mexico didn't want to download anything new on his computer!!  I know I mentioned Skype when I got my laptop last August because I have a sticker beside the built-in webcam and video calling never worked on MSN IM!  What a great invention!  Love the real time of it...no delays in voice or video!

That's it...not going to waste this great weather sitting at the computer all day!  Unless I take the laptop outside!!!  Hey, that's an idea!

:coffee: Help yourself - I am still groggy.  Usually, I bound out of bed and ready to go.

Al:  Can you explain "poor in spirit'?  It is wonderful to be blessed.  Such a good time and deed that Marbeth is experiencing with her craft group.

Judy:  A quiche is so easy to make that I wonder why I don't do it more often.  Once, someone made a quiche crust with hash browns - shredded potatoes in case you don't use the same words - and it was delicious.  I was going to do the same for a change.

Etta Sue:  You will love SKYPE.  I would do it more often but Don is on so many conference calls and until he stops this volunteer work, I just don't encourage anyone to call because sure as shooting, they would be calling at the same time he is online and it knocks him off.  That is the only downside.  Enjoy talking with your friend.

JudyB

Well Kassie has come in from her walk....she is so energetic.  I am heading out after I have eaten.  She takes her dog with her and runs her.  This is such good exercise for them both.

I have a load of laundry to do and Elizabeth has left her hamper in the laundry room I will do hers for her as well.

Must go,  Have a great day.

Marilyn

Top "o" the morning to all y'all. I am having  breakfast with a friend this morning, we are going to the Chalet for Biscuits and Sausage Gravy. Mmmm I love biscuits and gravy. Then tonight I am going to Willa's house for a Taco dinner. Getting my nails done after breakfast. Well the time is flying by and it is the day after tomorrow that I go up and get Keith. He has to work at least 'til noon on Friday, then we will head back here.

Happy St. Patricks Day

What a wonderful day:    MY Aunt had called yesterday saying that she was getting low on groceries, it was decided that we would go out today to enjoy the sun as well as shopping and have lunch together.

Now I am home and it is time to start dinner which will be my kind of Chinese & rice.

Judy: Loosing weight is so difficult but carbs & almost any kind of salt are a big block to reaching ones goal fast.   Drink water we must but I fail to do enough of.

Etta Sue & Marilyn:  I did some copy and paste to forward to a couple of shut ins that need some cheer.

Keep happy   Ruth

Ruth Carbs are the problem with me.  I have a medical condition that is aggrevated if I don't get enough carbs.  Too much water aggrevates it as well.  The meds I need are not covered by benefits and cost nearly $90 every time.  So I do struggle.

Taco's seem strange on StPaddy's day!  Irish stew and scons seem more appropriate!

Kass bathed 2 of 4 dogs today.  They are so soft and smell so fresh now.

Got to run God Bless
Judy

Hi everyone.  We had a most beautiful day here in Georgia and tomorrow is suppose to be as nice.

I left at 7 am this morning and it took me 2 hours, due to very heavy traffic, to get to Stacey's apartment to pick up a coat for her.  Then I picked her up at the hospital since she spent last night still in the hospital.  I got her to Grady Hospital for her 10 am appointment with the foot doctor.  She had x-rays that were taken a few days ago and the doctor looked at them and said she now has three broken bones in her foot.  No wonder it is so painful.  She will see him again in a month.  I took her back to her apartment and then headed home.  Think I will turn in early tonight and the day is catching up.

Happy to be able to say that I have felt fine the last two days.  I think the Renexa is keeping the pain at bay.

Carol

Larry:  Glad that you are feeling fine.  Now it is Stacey with more broken bones in her foot.  It is so difficult for her feet to heal completely.

My back is half in pain - along the right shoulder blade.  Yeow - what a day - and sneezing is painful.  Yes, am on an Aleve and also took 2 Ibuprofen pills later - it will go away in a day or two.  The shower feels best but I can't stand in that all day.

Arizona continues with this ten-year drought.  Huge fire danger and limited water.  Colorado has the same problems - this is really a challenge and I just wish that people would stop wasting our precious water.

Don fixed a pizza tonight & has been doing any and all lifting.  Taking it easy.  See you.

Carol - "poor in spirit" can be equated with humility before an awesome God.  Rather like Job experienced in Job 42:1-5.  It's when self has been taken out of the way enough so that we fall on our faces before the Lord of lords and King of kings.  If you'd like, and if you'll send me your email address, I'll send you the sermon in printed form.

Etta Sue

I got everything accomplished that I set out to do yesterday plus pruning my hibiscus and butterfly bushes.  I can't pick up sticks until I get the wooden cart emptied...best excuse I can think up at the time... ;)

Today Ivalou and I are going to Kokomo to see the photography at the Kokomo Art Association.  We are going to eat at Cracker Barrel...I want to get a Gift Certificate for my Secret Sister's birthday that is next week.

Then when I get back home, I need to do some laundry!

Carol

Al:  Yes, please send your sermon.  At the moment, I can't access my yahoo mail but am sure that it will be working soon.  Thank you.

Etta Sue:  Love that crazy cat.  Actually, our children used to love to play with the toilet paper - I should remind them  :D

Our landlord is bringing people through here to rent next year - we are not interested as it is far too long to be away from the family.  A high of 91* predicted in Phoenix today so Tucson will be hot as well - about 15* above normal.  My back is a tiny bit better but the pain is more spread out today - ugh.  Wish we were home & I had my own bed.

JudyB

Carol sorry about your back.  Have you been to a Doctor?  Interesting you would ask that question.  I have been studying the fifth chapter of Matthew and was looking at that phrase as well.

Our high today is to be +7 which translates to about 45F  that is good weather.  Our friend has sap running now so he will be busy for the next several weeks boiling down the maple sap.  His grands are with him helping.  they do so enjoy having the kids with them.  The entire family (son, daughter in law, and children) are muslim so this gives our friends a chance to portray Christ to them.

Larry I am sorry about your daughter and the problems she is encountering.  Also your health problems.  I am praying for both of you.

I have some jobs that I have been procrastinating on so I must get at them.  I will be back later.

Judy

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  I am eating a bite of lunch at the moment.  We attended Bible study this morning and then sent an hour or so at the donut shop with several friends.

One of the men I have known since coming to Grayson died yesterday.  He participated in our Friday Men's Coffee but a lung fibrosis condition develop and spent most of the last month in the hospital and rehab.  He had been having to use oxygen for the last 6-8 months and his doctor had told him he probably had 6 months to 2 years to live.  The funeral is this afternoon and I plan on attending.  He was in his early 80s.

This evening I have choir practice.

Carol, Stacey has a condition called Charcot that is a condition where the bones soften.   She has gotten to the point that just putting pressure on the foot can cause the breaking of the bone.  Sorry to read that you are not feeling well.  I agree with you that our own homes are the most comfortable place to be, especially when not feeling well.

Ruth

This morning Mel & I joined the coffee group at Tim's then later in the day I had 2 Medical appoointments.  Both were good news.

Yesterday Mel trimed an acorn tree/bush in the back yard, it looks much better.

Now we are waiting for a call from our daughter as we will be leaving for her home for an hour or so. Yes it is income tax time and she needs the paper work.

John is home today.  A little early but he has his miles in.  I have a stew in the slow cooker, so half of his meals for next week are nearly done.

We had a skiff of snow on the ground this morning.  Last night I couldnt sleep so found a book and read,  The dogs woke me at the normal time this morning so I lay back down and read a little longer.

Most of todays chores are done, just have a sweep fhrough to do, as well as another load of laundry.

We have a nice day sunny and we are seeing less snow and more ground.  Once the snow is gone then we can start waiting for the black flies.  That is the first sign of the nice weather!

I have been dwelling on Romans 6 today.  It is a good read!

Etta Sue

I didn't get much done yesterday other than some laundry...dark dreary day.

Today I woke to sunshine.  I decided to take my Secret Sister's birthday gift to church and I installed some Clip Art on the secretary's computer.

Then I went to Lowe's.  I have been thinking for about 6 months that if I could find some peel and stick black vinyl, I would take up my black carpet in the bathroom and put down the vinyl!  Don't ever put black carpet in a bathroom...I repeat...don't ever put black carpet in a bathroom!!  Especially when two cats live with you!  I had measured my bathroom and I found ebony marble peel and stick vinyl tile and purchased three boxes.

Then I went to Pet Supply store and bought 8# of Purina Pro Plan UTI cat food.  Cheaper than at the vet and hope my girls like it.

Then I filled three containers up with gas for the lawn mower...that time approaching very quickly...and the car and then back home again.

I have faux black marble formica counter top in the bathroom and the vinyl ebony marble matches perfect!  It is shiny where the counter top is matte!  Now to get the job done!

I went out to get the mail and I didn't have any but Ivalou did so I took hers to her and chatted awhile.

Now I am home for the rest of the day!

Hi everyone.  I am watching the NCAA basketball tourney on TV and writing using the laptop.  I had a busy morning.  After coffee at McDonald's and walking at the gym with the guys, I took the Saturn to the place where I bought the tires and had them rotated. When they took the tires off they discovered that the right passenger side drive axle was leaking grease and needed to be replaced.  So I had that done.  I called Pat and she brought up the other car to get those tires rotated as well.  I have about one more tire rotation, i.e., 5,000 to 6,000 miles of tread left on them.  At that time I will have to get 4 new tires and will then check about a front end alignment.  I had thought about having that done today but decided to wait for the new tires.

We had all that work done in less than two hours so was glad I didn't have to spend the day there.  When we got back home we decided to go to a nearby eating place for a hamburger.  I came home and had a nap and now am settled in for all of the games.  I know all of this was exciting, but that is what my day has consisted of so far.

It is a beautiful, sunny and warm day here.  We have decided to go to Florida for a few days next week to visit with Pat's 90 year old aunt and probably just one of the cousins.  I am certainly glad I had the car checked before we put it on the road and sure wouldn't have wanted the drive axle to fall off and perhaps cause an accident.

Etta Sue, will you put the tile down yourself?  I am sure it will look very nice.

Marilyn, hope you have a good trip today and then back and forth this weekend.

Judy, sounds like you have your day under control. Glad you are seeing some signs of spring.

Ruth, isn't it fun to have the time to join in unhurried coffee times?  This is something that has really enriched my life and I have been doing this for almost 14 years.

Ruth

The day was spent doing a little of this and that, then for lunch we went to a local restaurant for ribs, this is something that they have on Thursdays only, the rest of the week  is the faster food menu.

After being home for a short time we got the call, our eye glasses were ready for pickup so out we went again, the changes were slight but it sure makes for  sharper vision.

Mel has gone out for his weekly curling and I am home relaxing.

Marilyn: All the best with your move.

Larry: Good that you got the tire maintenance done,

Judy: With John home early does that mean he will have a longer layover.

Etta Sue:   A change is color is always nice.

John may ne going out again tomorrow, a fast trip to Guelph.  If we are able I may go with him.  Of course Cimi will be with us as well.

John is home and we had fish and chips for dinner.  Kass has become an accomplished cook, she made dinner.  She enjoys doing this.

Did you have the opportunity to read Romans 6?  It is worthwhile reading.

Well John is taking it easy watching a bit of TV, I am going to join him.  Perhaps read at the same time.  Have a great evening everyone.

Hi, friends,

I'm back online after having the computer in for a checkup and was out of town a couple of days, too.

I'm so tired, I think all I'll do is say "hi" and "bye" and wish y'all a good rest of the day. :)

Larry ~ I am thinking I can do it all myself.  I have everything but a pry bar and probably have one of them in the trunk of the car!  I used to do everything myself.  It will just take more time now...since I am older!

And it won't be a color change....just a texture change.  I can sweep that black carpet and in two hours it has cat hair, lint, threads, etc. again!  At least, vinyl I can use a dustmop or my battery operated sweeper..it picks up cat litter real well.  But it doesn't work as well on carpet...at least, that black bathroom carpet!

It is kind of cold here today...only to get to 42°.  Where did our spring time go???

Hi everyone.  It is 8 pm here in the Eastern time zone and I see I am third post for the day.  This was another very nice weather day.  I had errands to run this morning but got quite a bit done.  I got so interested in the basketball games this afternoon when I laid down to rest that I didn't take a nap and feel the effects this evening.

Nothing else new so will be brief and say be back tomorrow.

Ruth

I guess that I am the 4th and the day is almost over.

I tried and did something a little different with the bread machine, instead of the machine doing all the work I stopped it at the first rise then removed the dough from the machine and did the second rise and baking in the oven, the bread is the shape we are accustomed to with 2 loaves instead of one larger,  I will do this more often.

The rest of the morning was spent waiting for our house guest to come in, he did arrive  and was gone in an hour.  Then later in the afternoon a cousin arrived for a short visit it is always good to see him.

I will say nite nite to all
In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.  Proverbs 3:6

Carol

Don and I went for an early 50 min. walk today.  My blood pressure is not good & I am not sure why - very high for me.  So, I need to walk even more - we also walked blocks of a fair in Tucson today - hot & slow.  Everything was so expensive & not many people buying.  Our friends are helping on a food drive tomorrow - he runs it every year - and they may need our van so we are ready if needed.  Don spilled coffee with cream in it all over his shirt at the fair & didn't even notice until I asked him if he had tie-dyed his shirt.  It didn't come out with the first wash so am soaking the shirt and hopeful.

Larry:  I went to visit our friends instead of taking a nap.  Looking haggard in the mirror right now  ;)   Thank you for explaining about Stacey's issues.  I feel so sad for young people as we know things happen as we age but it just isn't fair in young life.

Friday nights are just not the same for old married couples as they used to be for singles - we are home & it isn't even 7 and we are just spent after a day of walking and visiting.  Oh, so much work  :D

Ruth:  Goodnight to you!

Etta Sue:  You will enjoy the tile.

Janice

Hello everyone.
I think Spring did arrive here, the wind blew all afternoon!  So what else is new?   :)

Ruth that is the way I use my bread machine.  I have arthritis in my hands so I use the machine for the dough cycle, and then take it out to shape and put in a standard bread pan.  Works for me!   :)

Reporting on my two brothers... we learned that Wes was very fortunate that the doctor found his prostate cancer early.  The surgeon told them that he had an aggresive form of cancer but it all came out clean.  He is doing well now.

And Jay, the one who had the ladder accident, well, it is a month now.  He has had two surgeries.  Went back about week-or ten days ago for checkup.  When they unwrapped his arm, it was all red.  He had gotten one of those bacterial infections at the hospital and his arm looked awful.  It is still not sewn up or grafted...now he is having to have the continuous drip anti-biotic for 4 weeks and hope it works.  He is having this done at home with a nurse who comes daily to keep him taken care of.  Medicare would not pay for home care but they would have in a medical facility.  How about that?  It would have cost Medicare much more in a facility. You remember I was sort of worried that this traumatic experience might be the beginning of his decline.  I pray that is not the case but it scares me.
Thanks for your prayers for my brothers.

This morning I had a scary situation happen, it could have turned out tragic but the Lord was with me.
I was driving to my doctor's appointment, going west on Llano Estacado nearing my left turn onto MLK Blvd.   I was in the turning lane, blinker going, when I noticed a car approaching the intersection from the south.   I thought "he is going mighty fast, but surely he will stop at the stop sign".   NO, he (or she) just kept coming fast.

I thought "He acts like he is going to cross the highway in front of me."   So I hit my brakes although I had already slowed down to make the left turn.   Then suddenly he made a wild right turn and appeared to have lost control because of going so fast, and he swung way too far towards me, partly into my lane.   I did not have time to look to see if anyone was in the lane behind me, or the next lane, I just quickly swung to the right to keep from getting hit.   No collision, but there would have been had I not gotten out of the way quick.

Whew!   Thank you, Lord!

I am glad I did not have to have my blood pressure taken right then!!

Good night, y'all.
This is the day the Lord has made, we will rejoice and be glad in it.   Ps 118:24

Carol

Al:  Thank you so very much for sending the sermon on beatitudes.  Your story on Lot and those teachings are so clear in your message.  Have a happy sermon day tomorrow!

Janice:  Whew - you did some great defense!  Will pray for your brothers.

As hot as it gets in Tucson, and it is above normal highs, the place does cool down every night to 60* F.  Birds wake me quite early and this is the time when Don gets his best sleep now that he doesn't have to rise early to get to work.

Good morning, friends,

It's a sunny, but cold day here in Nashville - temp is only 35 degrees right now! Brrr - I agree...where did spring go???

Will be eating with frieneds at 1 pm, and am participating in our church's monthly 24-hours of prayer weekend. It's truly amazing the reports of answered prayer. God is so good to us, through the good times, the difficult times, and all in between, as well.

Y'all have a good day with our Lord.

Ruth Ann

Well, I am assuming that Marilyn's no longer a resident of our town here, but that she is in process of moving up to Coos Bay or North Bend, Oregon.

Carol - you're welcome!  I'm glad my voice can reach that far these days!

It's fairly cool here today, and supposed to continue to get cooler.  In fact, the snow level is supposed to get down to 2,000 feet in the next couple of days.  Marbeth is up at the laundry room doing the weekly thing there, so I'm sitting here alone 'til she gets done.  As a deserved reward, I take her to lunch wherever she chooses afterward.  Today, she's chosen the Seascape, a restaurant up at Trinidad.  From most tables you can look down over the ocean at Trinidad Bay, see the boats going in/out, watch the waves, etc.  Even though we're right along the coast here, there are only two restaurants that I know of that have views of the ocean itself, though there's also one with views of the Humboldt Bay harbor at Eureka.  That harbor has no direct views of the ocean though.  Besides the Seascape, there's just one, and that one overlooks the ocean just south of Trinidad.  That one's expensive and very special, whereas Seascape is more or less average.

Well, this gal is sore!  I have the carpet up and the tack strips up.  I believe if a tornado went through here, those tack strips would have still been intact!  I didn't find a pry bar so I used a blade screwdriver and then put a small hammer handle under the screw driver and pushed down.  Mostly I broke the wood on the strip!  But my arms are sooo sore!

Then Tony came this morning and he picked up sticks, trimmed bushes, used the leaf blower while I raked, mowed mole hills down and pulled the roller behind the mower.  We got my swing put back under the tree and the A/C cover off and the styrofoam out of the vents and the vents opened!  Good job!  Also my fireplace still heated and lit but it didn't look like fire burning.  He helped me pull out the insert but I found out I only had to take out one screw and replace a bulb...didn't need it pulled out after all.

I fixed spaghetti for us for lunch...so two productive days in a row.

I also found out that Kitty has to have a heart cath Tuesday!  If they find a problem and they can put in stents or the balloon, they will do that while she is under!  She has been so tired lately and gets out of breath easy.

The rest of today and tomorrow I am taking it easy!!!  Too sore to do too much!

Hi everyone.  This has been a busy day as Pat and I attended an all day affair in the area where we used to live.  We had a delicious lunch of "Low Country Boil", which is shrimp, small potatoes, small ears of corn and sausage cooked in water.  Think it is a custom from South Carolina or perhaps Louisanna.  There was lots left as we had aniticipated more people in attendance.  We were glad to get home and Pat is now resting as said her neck and shoulder have been paining her all day long.

This morning I changed the hard disk in my desktop to one I had cloned a year ago.  Now I am working to update the Windows software and other programs that need updating and will take a while to get it back into the shape I want.  Something happened to fill up my previous hard drive and it couldn't be accessed.  Once I get the computer back into shape I will reclone it on the old drive, which will reformat that drive and regain the space.

Janice, certainly a frightening experience on the road.  Good things you were paying attention and took defensive action.

Etta Sue, sounds like you deserve to be sore after all that work.

Al, hope you all had a delightful lunch.

Ruth Ann, it is curretnly 61 degrees here but it seems chilly to me for some reason.  I don't think the cold weather is suppose to get to us as tomorrow is to be 68 degrees and Monday 72 degrees.

Carol, sorry to hear of the blood pressure problems.  At least you are in a good place to be able to walk unless it gets too hot.

Ruth, that fresh, homemade bread sure sounds good.  That is one of my favorite thngs.

Hi from a soggy Vancouver Island.  I think we are going to miss Spring and go straight into Summer.....I keep looking with longing at my Spring clothes.

Wendy had another test on that lump in her breast and must see the dr. the end of next week.  The dr.'s are so booked that waiting has increased even more!  SIL is having terrible trouble with his tummy and finally agreed to another appt.  Amanda is ill with a cold.  Sometimes I get so depressed by all of this!  The arthritis in my neck has become almost more than I can deal with and this time does not want to go into remission.  And so it goes......

Now that didn't help a bit!  I spend time listening to music on Youtube at night, rather than the news, etc.  Watched 20/20 and got most sad by all the suffering that is happening, especially for the kids in our world.  Not that things are that bad in Canada yet...but it will come.  I am praying that your president will succeed in his efforts to get things back on track.  One must think positive thoughts and keep in mind the needs of others.  I guess that is what impressed me about so many in the US...how they are finding new ways to cope with their loss and work towards a future.  If ever our world needed hope, it is right now.  For those without a faith in God, it must be terrible.

Time to go and start dinner for the kids.  Wendy needs a rest after we went to Victoria this morning.  They needed something for the business, and I went to buy towels and a new pillow.

Pleasant Day/Evening and God Bless.

:)Good evening or good morning.   Well I have not been on the site since last Sunday.  I don't know where the time goes.  Noreen and have been kept going on Mondays we have our grandson here also on Fridays.  We love him so much and he loves to play and to give big hugs and kisses too  Then in the middle of the week we had to go north to look after our granddaughter so that was part of the week.  Other activities also include the volunteer at the mission work and then there was a doctors app.  So it just keeps on going and we thank the Lord for the strength that he gives to us.

Today we headed north to a 60th. birthday party and that was a lot of fun :coffee:

Well it is late and have to get up for church.  May the Lord give you all a marvelous day in his house.  God Bless. <3

I think I need to go to bed tired more often!  I slept over 7 hours without getting up!  I haven't done that for years!

It is bright and sunny today.  I love seeing the sun shine through the stained glass windows at church!  You can even see shadows of birds in a tree or two outside the windows.  God's eye candy!  It is suppose to get to 65°.  That's almost 'sit outside on the deck with my laptop' weather!!

Nothing else planned today except resting!  And getting over my soreness!  Ivalou has a dr. appointment tomorrow and Tuesday I have a blood draw.  Maybe Wednesday I can get back to my bathroom floor!
