Morning Devotional...

Psalm 39

David was SO much like us!  The background to this psalm, was apparently a situation in which it would have been best for him simply to remain silent, to let the "wicked" have their say without answering, even if they spoke about him.  And he was quiet for a while.  In fact he held it as long as he could.  But all the time he was nearly bursting inwardly because of the injustice, falsehood, and pride of his persecutors. It's likely that if he could have continued to remain silent they would eventually  have "hanged themselves" with their own words -.  but he couldn't.

When he finally couldn't take it anymore and just had to defend himself, the inner dam burst, and a torrent of words escaped his mouth.  He became nearly as bad as his accusers had been, and he actually sinned with his mouth - grievously.  He knew he shouldn't have done it.  He had purposed before the Lord to hold his tongue.  But, just as we often do, he failed, and now there were consequences. He began experiencing various troubles, and it didn't seem like the Lord was helping him at all - and he knew why.  he had sinned.

The real problem was that David (so much like us) was trying to take things into his own hands. God's covenant people should never do that!  They should always trust Him and let Him take care of their problems instead.  But, like David, they fail, and God is dishonored by it.

But dear brothers and sisters, that's why David composed this psalm and introduced it into the daily worship - he knew everyone who sang it could relate to it, because such things happen to everyone.  So he led them in a song of confession to God and prayer for His mercy and restoration.  He knew they'd all need it.

In the first three verses, he simply tells God what he's done.  Then, in the next three verses, he confesses his weakness, his foolishness, and the shortness of his time on this earth.

Finally, he confesses that the Lord is his only hope.  He begs God's merciful forgiveness - that He would turn to him again because his life is too short to spend it apart from Him.  He begs His gracious restoration and says, "Hear my prayer, O Lord, and give ear to my cry; Do not be silent at my tears, for I am a stranger with You, a sojourner, as all my fathers were.  Remove Your (reproachful) gaze from me, that I may regain strength, before I go away and am no more."

Has this ever happened to you?  Have you ever "burst" out with words that should never have been said?  I suspect we all have.  Confess your sin to your Lord.  Seek His restoration.  He's merciful.

He Looked Beyond My Fault
Lyrics by Dottie Rambo
(to the tune of "Londonderry Aire")

Galatians 5:1
"Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage."

Amazing Grace, shall always be my song of praise.
For it was grace that brought me liberty,
I do not know, just why He came to love me so.
He looked beyond my fault and saw my need.

I shall forever lift mine eyes to Calvary,
To view the cross, where Jesus died for me
How marvelous, His grace that caught my falling soul
He Looked beyond my fault and saw my need.

Thanks, Al, for this very timely devotional on Psalm 39.  I love the song you posted, as well.  Truly it is amazing grace that saves us from our own self-destruction.

Larry, I'm glad you made it home safe and sound ... I well remember the long drives I have done in the past, and how happy I would be to get home to my own bed!  ;)
Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass .... it's about learning to dance in the rain!

Don

Thanks Al for the devotional. Boy can I relate to this Psalm. Seems like I always know when I should keep my mouth shut before I say anything but my mouth is already in gear and there is no stopping. Forgive me Lord!

Thank you for your Grace.

Al:  On the question of bursting out with the wrong & awful words - no, but I have "thought" the evil words and that is just as bad.  Thank you for the message.

I am up early and awoke with the thoughts and prayers for daughter and all of her work friends who are high tech and marketing experts - out of work.  She has formed a club for them to meet as they are really struggling and two have homes for sale.  The work is suddenly going to 20 year olds - so this is a crises in their lives.  I pray that all handle everything well and look to Lord as guidance.

Nita:  Sorry that you did not get that clickable.  It is about Christians being forced out of an Arab country because they are being condemned for being "overactive" - which means the muslims don't want any Christians around because they fear the message.  I just think it will get worse and worse.

Gotta have my  :coffee:

Thank you Al for that devotional.  So many times in the past 5 hears I should have held my tongue but like David the dam broke.  I learned, as did David.  Thank you

My doctor appointment was this morning to discuss my blood work done last week.  It was just for cholesterol and it went from 215 to 175 and my triglycerides went from 246 to 134.  HL from 70 to 67 and LDL-C from 95 to 82...in 6 weeks.  And I lost 6 pounds.  She was pleased but gave me a new prescription for Vytorin...10/80mg.

I also told her about my upcoming surgery and asked her why I am not to have any vitamins or herbal medications for two weeks prior to surgery.  She said 'and that includes fish oil capsules'.  And she said because they all thin your blood!  So I am not to take my One a Day Vitamin, Calcium with Vitamin D AND four fish oil capsules!

Then Ivalou and I ate Chinese.  Then to WalMart.  I had to get a prescription refilled and purchase some other things while there.  I told Ivalou to not let me forget to go to the bank and cash a check...she did.  After I got in the house, and was doing my paperwork, I saw the check in my purse.

Oh, yes!  The Check!  It was for $25...the monetary amount for my first place computer generated photo at Kokomo!

Re Judy McKenna:
I am home from taking Norm to see Judy in Hamilton, Ontario.  She was in good spirits.  The room was very hot and she asked me to gently fold the sheet down bit by bit so that she'd be a bit cooler but still be looking decent so I did this for her.

She's quite bandaged, has a morphine pump to administer her own pain meds and she has weights hanging off the end of the bed that are attached to her limbs.  She'll be like this for 8 weeks!

I'm sorry but I came away very sad.

We had a time of prayer together and I was able to share some verses from the scripture with her.

Thanks Al, for the devotional today.  Yes, I am guilty too, my tongue betrays me.  I am reading in the book of James currently, and in chapter 3 I read about how "no man can tame the tongue."  We have good intentions, but Satan loves it when we fail.  God's grace is our only hope.

Carol, I hope your blood pressure is stabilized now, that can sure get dangerous.  Been there myself.

I would like to ask you all to pray for this little family in Texas.  We got an email this evening from Earl's brother, and he sent a forward from an email he received from his grandson's wife.  How sad this sounds.  I don't know this girl, we have not met her, but we know Josh of course.  These kids need uplifting in the coming days.

....."Good Morning Papa Ray,
I wanted to check in on you and see how you were doing.  I am assuming that Carol or Randy told you about the baby.  It was confirmed last Tuesday that our little Rowdy has an extremely rare and fatal disease.  He has no chance to thrive and they think it best that they go ahead and induce my labor due to safety concerns and risks if I wait until his due date in July.  They are going to induce me tomorrow morning in Brownwood at the hospital.  Josh and I have to be there at 5 am.
This is definitely not what we had wanted or expected!  I guess the Lord knows best and I find comfort in know for sure where Rowdy is going and that when he gets there he will have a New body!  Praise God for that.  That is what keeps us going.  The Dr. told Josh and I that this happens 1 in a million times.  I told Josh that I already knew we were special but not 1 in a million!  On a brighter side, he said the chances of it happening again are slim to none.  We should be able to have another healthy baby.  Just wanted to let you know what was going on.  We are going to have a graveside service out at the cemetery in Caradan where Josh and I were married.  We are thinking it will be Thursday at 10 am.  There will be a lunch following at the Cowboy Church in Goldthwaite.  We would love to have you if you would like to come.  I have really been proud of your grandson.  He is a fine man and has been my rock. He is having an extremely hard time so please keep him and I in your prayers.  I am confident in knowing that blessings and good things will come from this experience.
Love you much,
Sandy. "

Al, as I read the devotional this morning, my mind began to hum the little children's song "Oh, Be Careful Little Eyes What You See" and thought through all the verses. How necessary it is for us to guard our eyes, ears, thoughts, tongue, hands, and feet!

1. What is you favorite thing to eat, Be specific? (not a nonspecific like Mexican or Chinese...But just ONE thing)

Chicken Curry with veggies on brown rice

2. What is your favorite time of day?

When it's very late in the afternoon, shadows are long, and things in the landscape are silhouetted against an almost dark sky. It seems peaceful then, as if God is wrapping us in His love as we prepare to rest for the day.

3.    How can we pray for you today?

Please pray with me for the salvation and spiritual growth of my children and that the Lord can use me as He sees fit.

4.  Do you read your Bible daily?

No - I need to ask forgiveness for this and ask for strong resolve to begin once more to do so.

5. What is your favorite time to spend with the Lord each day?

As I'm driving, at the computer, and when there's a moment to rest. My longest prayer time is just before I fall asleep.

6. Do you have a prayer partner that you call frequently?

Yes, several ladies and I support each other in a prayer group.

7.  In one word how would you describe how your home looks at this moment?

Happy/peaceful/welcoming

Oh Janice.  How touching.  I am in tears at the genuineness and unspoken heartache.  Let them know that a sister in the Canadian town of Powassan is praying.

Janice ~ You can read the peace from God in the email from your g-niece..I think that is how you are related.  Only God can give peace when someone is going through the trials that these two are going through.  God is already with them.  I read in Our Daily Bread this morning...When we know that God's hand is in everything, we can leave everything in God's hand.  True!

I was on the phone for over an hour with a person from Ultimate TV last evening.  Seems most of my recordings since coming back from Florida are pixelated...not constant but intermittent.  She had me to reset the receiver to like new.  Now we will see if it worked.  If not, I will have to get a DVD-R.

Dark and dismal today.  A great day to stay inside and do laundry...which I am doing.

Have a God-filled Day!

I am back from grocery shopping.  A lot of meat specials today.  Heather came with me as she had shopping to do too. What a good time we had.  It has been a long time since we have had a day out like this.

The weather has been beautiful.  Nearly all the snow is gone.  Even the river has the chanel opened up.  Soon the Geese will be back.

John is in Superior Wiscinsin right now.  He has battled weather all day.  He may move on depending on the weather report for the night and tomorrow morning.

Well have a great evening everyone.

Hi everyone.  It is going to be a rainy evening here in Georgia and they are saying the drought we have had for three years is over.  They had about 5 inches of rain here just while we were in Florida.  I don't know whether they will remove the watering restrictions or not.

Pat, it is about 500 miles from here to St. Petersburg, as I recall.

Al, thanks for the new devotional for this week.

I am sitting with a heatpad to my back as it has been aching for a couple of days and seems to be worse today.  It may be from all the hours spent sitting in the car as don't seem to have any symptoms of having the flu or something like that.

Etta Sue, congrats on your cash prize.

It is raining here again in the north.  We had several power outages which messed up the alarm and we all slept in.  The girls are home today.  That is fine they will catch up tomorrow.  They each can call friends to find out what was missed.

I will be back.  I am going through the pictures.  If you have time check out the pictures that have been posted.  We have some very talented photographers here!

I got up early for me and went to Noblesville and had breakfast.  Then went to the grocery store.  Then filled the car up with gas.  Then to Lapel to the bank.

Ivalou called when I got home and I am going with her to Woody's..a restaurant in Lapel and then to the drug store at noon.

Then this evening Ivalou and I are meeting Marge at the funeral home for a visitation and then will go to eat somewhere again....

There goes my cash prize for my photo win!!

And I have to shower and wash my hair and make a salad for the funeral dinner tomorrow before leaving this evening.

Bright and sunny today.  Beautiful day!  Nothing like yesterday!

It was so windy yesterday that my umbrella broke from the wind when I went for my mail.  Got a new umbrella today!

Also I am getting a DVR Thursday morning...my Ultimate TV is sick!

Hi, friends, I can't believe it's afternoon ALREADY! Where'd this day go???

Well, for one, I was off to the dentist's chair today. The tooth will have to be capped, but he put a temporary filling in - said it may not last through today, bt then again, it may last until I have that appt on May 20. He was so great and didn't even charge a cent for the work he did this morning.

Also, the folks in the office called me in (here at the apt) - I felt like I was being called into the principal's office...instant oh-no gut reaction. Well, they would like to interview me for the activities director position! I didn't even know they had a vacancy! Whether or not I take it, it certainly is an honor that they'd approach me about it.

Then, returned to the apartment, unloaded more stuff I'm moving from the house, and am now figuring out a place to put it all --- OR, if some of it gets to go to charity.  ;)

Well, gotta go - lots to get done today, since I'll only be here one more day before vacation begins on Friday. I'll enjoy being in Ohio and Indiana for the next week. HOORAY! Haven't had a vacation in quite a while.

See y'all later.

Hi everyone.  It has been overcast and damp here all day but got up to 68 degrees so wasn't bad.  Both Pat and I had eye appointments this afternoon for our yearly checkup.  All was fine and no need to change glasses.

We then went to a medical supply business and bought a shower chair to take to Stacey tomorrow and finally to Wal-Mart for a few items. Came home and rested for about 45 minutes, since most of the afternoon was over.

Pat is fixing supper (we are having salad and scrimp).  She has a class to attend at the church this evening and I have choir practice.  We both have to drive as her class ends well before choir practice.  We have only this rehearsal tonight and the dress rehearsal on Saturday with our guest soloists before performing our Easter music on Sunday.  We are doing a very powerful cantata.

Ruth Ann, that was quite an honor to be asked.  I assume this is not a volunteer position as I am sure it would involve a lot of work and responsibility.  Hope you have a great time on your vacation.

Marilyn, it sounds like you are getting things organized.

Etta Sue, it sounds like you had a busy day today.  Nice that you had your prize to pay for the meals.

Pat has called supper so bye for today.

Al Moak

Larry - wish I could hear your cantata.  Which one is it?  I personally believe that such things are quite conducive to worship.

The doves around here wake us much too early in the morning.  Their constant cry does get annoying because it just doesn't sound like a happy bird.  My favorites are the quail with their little head tops and it is so cute when they waddle past always in a straight line.

Two cousins & spouses arrive for lunch today.  The menu is a cheese and bacon quiche, mandarin orange and red onion salad with raspberry vinaigrette.   Dessert is fresh lemon pie.  It should be nice enough to sit on the patio.  Yesterday, we took in the local thrift shop and I bought 12 plates for our deck at home - two sizes.  They had an antique Singer in the desk and so forth but there just isn't room in the van to bring it home.  Drats.  We leave a week from today.  I spent over two hours visiting with a friends sister-in-law.  She is 85 years young and a very sharp lady - just a kick to visit with over these months.  She loves anything I make - homemade soup or cookies.

(My favorite animation above...keep looking at it, please)

I have a new DVR!!  The old one was getting signal from the satellite for the satellite receiver part but not for the recording part.  So I got a replacement...no to learn how to operate it!  And no cost to me!  Not even a service call!

Last evening I went to the funeral visitation.  The lady was 99 years old and the oldest member of my church.  I went to school with her two youngest children and it was really great to see them and some other people I hadn't seen for years!

Today I am leaving at 11:30am to help with the funeral dinner.  Always good to be with other church members in a different setting.

Around here its the Mockingbirds. They rattle on well into the night, 2, 3 a.m., singing like fools right on top of the gable of my house, or on the light pole in the street. I don't know when these crazy birds get any sleep, or what they could possibly have to be so happy about at 3 a.m. except that perhaps they know something I don't know.  :P

Good Morning Everyone!

It's lovely to read your posts.

Last night I was able to take supper over to Andrew and Terena's and enjoy Slow Cooked Pork Tenderloiin with mashed potatoes and a fruit jelly I made for dessert.

I was talking about my pork tenderloin over on Photography Cafe and Scott mentioned "garlic" and I realized that I had forgotten to put garlic in and I raced to the kitchen and got the garlic added and my, it was delicious!

So, thank you so much Scott for the nudge you didn't even know you were giving me!

Isn't it strange to hear what some folks get "annoyed" or "bothered" with?  I have a Mourning Dove nest in the tree not too far from my bedroom window in Guelph here and I love hearing its "cooing".  I find it so lovely to listen to.

I don't think I've heard mocking birds though!

Ruth Ann, what an honour to be invited to head up that programme.  I will be praying for you about this.

I think that after you've been so busy in your career for so many years that this would be a "piece of cake" so to speak for you and it would keep you occupied in a nice way.

Keep us posted my friend.

It's lovely outside.  I found myself humming this hymn and then I thought we could all sing it together.  It's an oldie for sure!

Sunlight
(Click to hear music)

"In his right hand he held seven starts, and out of his mouth came a sharp double-edged sword.  His face was like the sun shining in all its brilliance." Revelations 1:16

Words: J. W. Van De Venter
Music: W. S. Weeden

I wandered in the shades of night,
Till Jesus came to me,
And with the sunlight of His love
Bid all my darkness flee.

Refrain

Sunlight, sunlight in my soul today,
Sunlight, sunlight all along the way;
Since the Savior found me,
Took away my sin,
I have had the sunlight of His love within.

Tho' clouds may gather in the sky,
And billows round me roll,
However dark the world may be
I've sunlight in my soul.

Refrain

While walking in the light of God,
I sweet communion find;
I press with holy vigor on,
And leave the world behind.

Refrain

I cross the wide extended fields,
I journey o'er the plain,
And in the sunlight of His love
I reap the golden grain.

Refrain

Soon I shall see Him as He is,
The light that came to me;
Behold the brightness of His face,
Thro'out eternity.

Thank you Pat for posting Sunlight

When I was a kid, the church I went to sang that song quite often and I really liked it.  After I moved to Mississippi, I realized no one ever sang it or even really knew how it went.  I've missed it for 26 yrs!
Choose you this day who you will serve; As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord. Joshua 24:15

Isa 41:10     Fear thou not; for I [am] with thee: be not dismayed; for I [am] thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.

Hi everyone, I t is so nice to come here each day and read all your comments, and what you are doing. this is such a pleasant place, I really have enjoyed the years I have been a member of this site.

I baked a Swiss Chocolate cake this morning and frosted it with Chocolate Butter cream frosting.  I am going to California on Saturday and returning here on Sunday evening. It is Forest's birthday tomorrow and the party is Sunday.

Tomorrow I have to go get the Oregon plates for my car as my California plates have now expired. In Oregon the  tags are good for 2 years for the same price as 1 year in California. I saw on the news where California might be banning black cars because  they say that black cars are  too hard to cool and  might be causing  green house gasses. What will they think up next? Geez.

Larry how is Stacey doing now? I still pray for her when she comes to mind. The same for Liz's Wendy and for Janet's Beth.

Well I have to go to the store and get a few items.

I'LL KNOW

When I see the land I long for
When on hallowed ground I stand
When my heart will overflow
When I take my Saviour's hand

Then I'll know I'm home at last
Journey's end has come for me
Standing on the golden shore
Beside the sparkling crystal sea

When my eyes will cry no more
When sorrow leaves my heart at last
When I can lift my head to smile
When before I was downcast

Then I'll know such awesome joy
Peace so calm that soothes the soul
Embraced and held in loving arms
Of Jesus Redeemer who made me whole

When I gaze upon His face
When I feel His gentle touch
When I see His lovely smile
When I'll say, thank you so much

Then I'll know yes surely know
As I've never known before
Peace and rest and joy overflowing
When Heaven is mine forever more

Anyway, I wish you well with the site.  Thanks so much for posting one of your lovely poems once again.

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  I didn't have a chance to get here yesterday as it was sa very busy day.  I had a doctors appointment in the morning with the cancer doctor.  This coming December it will be 5 years since I had the treatment and all is well.  I need to see him a year from now and, if all remains well, I will only be tested once a year and not need to see him.

We then went to Stacey's apartment and unloaded some things we had taken her.  We got her a bath chair and a new shower head.  She told us yesterday that she had almost fallen in the tub several days ago and had been afraid to use it since.  The maintenance people at her apartment came late yesterday afternoon and installed the new shower head with the hand held attachment.  She called last night and said she had spent an hour in the shower and it was great.

We took her to lunch at TGI Friday's, which is within a block of her apartment.  She can just go there in her powerchair and doesn't have to get in and out of the car.  It was raining when we came back.  I went to Kroger's and got her a rain poncho as she had gotten very wet when she had to go to work yesterday morning (was called back yesterday).  We helped clean up her apartment and straighten things up for her and then came home.  It was almost 5 pm when we got home.

I have a day at home today other than coffee and probably walking and then a quick trip to the grocery store.  I have some computer projects to take care of today.

Al, I can't remember the name of the cantata but will post it later.

Colin, good to see you posting and thanks for sharing your poem.  I will have to check out your website.

Marilyn, maybe it won't be quite as expensive to live in Oregon.  The government telling us what color car we can have is another in a quick growing list of freedoms lost to us here in the USA.  It is really sad.

Pat, your cooked tenderloin dinner sounded good.

Etta Sue, I hope you like your new DVR.  We have become quite accustomed to using the recorder we have with Dish.  We can record two programs at once and while it is recording can watch a third already recorded program while that set is recording something new.  I like the fast forwarding through the commercials.

Time to get the day started and leave for coffee.  It is at the Senior Center this morning and my neighbor is riding with me.

Etta Sue

We had a great time working together yesterday at the funeral dinner.  Everything went smooth until one lady had an accident.  We don't know what she was doing but she was at the closet where the cleaning supplies are.  We think she was trying to put something on a top shelf and since she is short she reached up and grabbed the shelf.  The shelf wasn't fastened down and it tipped and everything fell...paint cans, spray cans and such.  She was hit in the forehead and yelled.  I ran in there and blood was spurting out of the injured area.  I got some paper towels.  Her sister-in-laws called her grandson which is a paramedic.  He came and said he would take her for a stitch or two.  Something must have changed his mind because the ambulance came.  She got 6 stitches and was home last evening...with a goose egg on her forehead and a headache!  She will be fine.

Today I am taking Kitty to a nutritionist for her to learn how to carb count.  She is diabetic but controls her diabetis with diet.  No meds or insulin.  Since her heart cath her blood sugar has gone high and then low.  She can't seem to control it.  Seems the drugs are doing something.  Anyway I am driving since it is raining and Kitty doesn't like to drive in the rain.

And yes, I like my DVR.  Lots more to learn about it but good.  It was doing something last night that I never seen on the other one.  It downloaded an update!!  Just like your computer!

We had an all-day visit yesterday - wonderful visit with two cousins & wives.  The weather was perfect for sitting on the patio.  Now this is the end of company and we have to think about packing and getting things ready as next week we should be home at this time.

Pat;  After three months of listening to a lot of doves, I would like things to quiet down.  We also hear an owl at night but they don't go on forever.  :)  The funny thing is that whenever we walk we don't wear any earphone & listen to music because then we really do want to hear all that nature has to offer.  I don't remember hearing the song "Sunlight" - very nice.

Colin:  I will check out your web site.  Another great poem.

Well, I'm just now getting here and what a lovely surprise to see the birthday greetings.  ;)  Thank you all, so much!

Marilyn that is a beautiful card ... okay if I saved it?

Pat, thanks for the "cake" and balloons.

Don and Judy ... I love your balloons, too, and all the other smilies and greetings.  Thank you, thank you.

My day started off with a phone call from my daughter Joy.  We talked a long time, because she and John have just returned from a cruise to the Panama Canal (with John's 95 yr old father!) and they are working on my place there in California.  Lots to talk about y'know.

Then Marilyn called to sing "Happy Birthday" to me ....  :) Thanks, Marilyn.

And, after that, my neighbor came over to invite me to share a pizza with her and her husband this evening.  Things are good.

I even got an email from my #1 grandson.  He is going with a group on a mission to Mexico.  He said it will be only adults as the teens have been diverted to Fresno, CA instead of risking taking them into Mexico at this time.  Tim will be delivering food to the various churches as well as being the First Aid contact for the construction crews.  He says they have been assured they will be in an area not effected by the violence.  We're still praying for their safety, though.

I imagine I will get a phone call from Dot (my other daughter) tonight.  I guess it's not so bad getting old(er) after all!   :D

Birthdays do NOT mark the passing of another year!  They are a celebration of the day you arrived in this world as a separate person.  I am glad you arrived!  i celebrate!  God's blessings!

I agree, Al .... and I thank you for celebrating with me!

We first played this hymn on Christian Photographers in April of 2003!!!

It's still a favourite on here so let's enjoy it together:

How Great Thou Art
(Click to hear music)

O Lord my God, When I in awesome wonder,
Consider all the worlds Thy Hands have made;
I see the stars, I hear the rolling thunder,
Thy power throughout the universe displayed.

Chorus:
Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee,
How great Thou art, How great Thou art.
Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee,
How great Thou art, How great Thou art!

And when I think, that God, His Son not sparing;
Sent Him to die, I scarce can take it in;
That on the Cross, my burden gladly bearing,
He bled and died to take away my sin.

Chorus

When Christ shall come, with shout of acclamation,
And take me home, what joy shall fill my heart.
Then I shall bow, in humble adoration,
And then proclaim: "My God, how great Thou art!"

Chorus

Hi folks. Just stopping in to say hello. Belated happy birthday to Jane!  :)

It's very late and I am trying to scan a couple of rolls of infrared film I just developed. I was out at my favorite place today enjoying God's creatures and the glories of it all, how fitting to see Pat post one of my all time favorite hymns that always brings tears to my eyes - thanks!

For you bird photographers, and I see there are many, I will need to start taking my digital camera - I'd have been perfectly positioned to shoot many varieties of ducks (among them blue winged teal and shovelers, some of the most handsome of our ducks) and tons of herons, woodpeckers, terns, hawks, coots, kinglets, a bald eagle, and all sorts of small little flittery things of which I did not positively identify. Amazing. One of these days I'm going to actually be prepared.

God reigns!

JANE!!

I think there was a party yesterday and I missed it!!!

I took Kitty to the nutritionist yesterday.  She said she learned a lot.  Then she needed some art supplies so I took her there.  Around the corner was a Burlington's so we went in there to find me a lightweight quilt for my bed..no batting...just material quilted.  I found one!  And shams.  Kitty has looked for Violet scented candles for ages and sure enough, there were Yankee Violet scented candles.  She was so excited...so she bought one and I bought one for her...just because.   ::)

We came home and I got my mail and needed to go to the bank to deposit a check.  I got a package delivered and I had ordered a surprise for Kitty.
Here it is. So I called her...she was at the grocery and headed toward home so I told her I was going to the bank and would be back at her house soon.  She was so surprised with another 'just because' gift!   ::)  So we washed the frogs and had a cup of tea!

Tony came this morning with a big roller and rolled my yard.  I walked my 20 minutes outside, then fixed a wind chime, hammered some of my lattice back in place, put my snow shovel back in the garage and wiggled a fence post until it was loose.  Then Tony helped me pull it out of the ground.  Another thing I don't have to mow around now!  The ground looks real nice...now I won't get a shaking when I mow now!

The rest of the day is for relaxing!

Hi everyone.  My main activity today was our dress rehearsal for the cantata tomorrow during our morning worship service.  Al, the name of the Cantata is "On the Passion of Christ" by David H. Williams.  There is no narrative and consists of three long pieces with several soprano, tenor and bass solos as a part of the three pieces.  It is a very dramatic and moving work.  I will try to get a copy of it from our service recording and will share it here.

I am looking forward to this evening when I will be watching the NCAA Men's Basketball Final Four games.  Hopefully they will be competitive.

It is very nice here today and a few minutes ago it was 74 degrees.

Etta Sue, that was a neat little gift for your friend.

Etta Sue

I am all ready for church.  It is bright and sunny here and suppose to get to 60 degrees.  The next couple of days are too be cold...not even the highs in the 40's!  We will probably go to our local Lions Club for breakfast today.  It is tradition that they have a breakfast on Palm Sunday.  I haven't been since attending church so it has been 11 years.  Remember I went to church 25 miles away and didn't have time to drive here after church for breakfast.

Everything is budding and changing.  I love Spring!

Will be back later...

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  It is another beautiful day here in Georgia but tomorrow the high is to be 51 and windy, certainly not as pleasant as today.

I am ready for church and will leave in about 10 minutes or so as the choir director wanted us there 45 minutes before the service begins this morning for final brush ups on entrances, etc., on the cantata.  Our cantata is the sermon today and it is a powerful one.

I expect we will go out to lunch with the group from the church but usually don't know where that will be until after the service.

I enjoyed the basketball games last night.  Unfortunately the second one really wasn't a very good game in terms of competitiveness but the first one was much better.  Tomorrow night will be the final game for the season.

Hope this is a wonderful day for each of us.  I so appreciate and thank God for each day he gives me and for his leading in my life.
