Hi everyone.  I have more than 3 minutes available today but not much to write about.  Fortunately, I took a lot of typing in high school and also in college as I wanted to be a high school business teacher.  I never was a teacher in a public or private school, just iin a work related situation.  Therefore, I type reasonable quickly and don't have much trouble spelling.

Today is Bible study with our pastor.  He wasn't there last week as was out-of-town but hope he will be back today.  He always provides such interesting discussions of the Bible.  We will probably go out to-lunch and then tonight I have to miss choir practice to attend an important business meeting with a group I work with.  That will be my day as I know it now.

Pat spent the afternoon with a friend yesterday and then stopped at the grocery store.  She was tired yesterday evening so we went out to eat at the Mexican place nearby.

Judy, it is getting late in the season for snow.  It sounds like the drought situation has moved north.  Our drought is over for now and we are allowed to do some watering again, but with restrictions as to days and length of time.

Ruth Ann, sure don't envy you having to deal with the results of the flooding.  Just glad it wasn't worse.  I just read a posting on another location from Papa John and he said his house was fine but there were some down the street from him that had flood damage.  He last the food in his freezer due to the power outage.

Etta Sue, should think this is a tough time to begin a new building project.  I know our church has trimmed its budget and so far we are staying on budget and the offerings are staying with budget needs.

I got my entertainment center shined and cleaned!  Four more days to go!

Kitty and I went swimming yesterday.  I didn't count how many laps I did since I hadn't been swimming all of April.  Like I told Kitty...I was doing things in the water that I found out didn't work but failed to improve my swimming!  It was fun.

After that Kitty visited the cemetery where her parents are to put flowers there.  Then we went to Barnes and Noble.  Kitty got a Nook Book...electronic book that you can download books to read from the internet and also she can check her email.  She had some questions to ask.  I thought the idea was great until I saw how much it cost and then possibly paying to download books to read!  I don't think I would get my money's worth or have the time to use it.  She doesn't either but then, money is no problem for Kitty and Bob.

We went to Chili's for chips and salsa and then home.

Today as soon as I get caught up online, I want to mow the dandelions and then clean myself and leave for rehab by 2pm.  Hopefully this evening I will have time for day 5 of cleaning.

It is bright and sunny today and suppose to get to 80°.  Then this evening my WeatherFX says severe thunderstorms....

JudyB

We have no restrictions with water.  We do have fire restrictions.  Usually this time of year we (all the neighbors in the surrounding area) burn off last years grass and this is an annual event.  This year there are fire restrictions, which is unheard of for the time of year.  I mess seeing the blackened ground and the new grass growing up around and through it.  Only one neighbor had his burn...before the restrictions went on.

It is another cold day, we will have the furnace lit tonight.

This week's promise: God delights in those who honor him
Greater than our dreams

May the words of my mouth and the thoughts of my heart be pleasing to you, O Lord, my rock and my redeemer.

Psalm 19:14 NLT

I have found that the most extravagant dreams of boyhood have not surpassed the great experience of being in the will of God, and I believe that nothing could be better.

Jim Elliot

No locked closets

What does it mean to be a person after God's own heart? Seems to me, it means that your life is in harmony with the Lord. What is important to him is important to you. What burdens him burdens you. When he says, "This is wrong, and I want you to change," you come to terms with it because you have a heart for God.

When you are deeply spiritual, you have a heart that is sensitive to the things of God. "For the eyes of the Lord move to and fro throughout the earth that he may strongly support those whose heart is completely his" (2 Chronicles 16:9).

God is looking for men and women whose hearts are completely his. They have no locked closets. Nothing's been swept under the rugs. When you do wrong, you admit it and come to terms with it....You long to please him in your actions.

May the Mind of Christ, My Saviour
(Click to hear music)

Let this mind be in you,
which was also in Christ Jesus.
Philippians 2:5

Author:  Kate B. Wilkinson, 20th Century
Musician:  Arthur C. Barham-Gould, 1891-1953

May the mind of Christ, my Saviour,
Live in me from day to day,
By His love and pow'r controlling
All I do and say.

May the Word of God dwell richly
In my heart from hour to hour,
So that all may see I triumph
Only through His pow'r.

May the peace of God, my Father,
Rule my life in ev'rything,
That I may be calm to comfort
Sick and sorrowing.

May the love of Jesus fill me,
As the waters fill the sea;
Him exalting, self abasing,
This is victory.

May I run the race before me,
Strong and brave to face the foe,
Looking only unto Jesus
As I onward go.

May His beauty rest upon me
As I seek the lost to win,
And may they forget the channel,
Seeing only Him.

The devotional was lovely this week.  Sometimes we forget that the Lord knows the very hairs of our head.  It is a wonderful thought.

I am struggling today with a horrible stomach upset and feel as weak as a kitten - I must try to continue at work and not have any time off.

I had a message from Janet on facebook who is in Costa Rica.  She seems to be having a great time.

God bless to everyone.

Anthony.

p.s. does anyone use Skype? I just bought a Skype phone and would like to talk to anyone who is willing.  Unfortunately there is some disturbance on the line and people cannot hear me very well,k but I would love to have a chat with someone.

I have Skype, Anthony, but right now life is really hectic. We've had floods of monumental proportions here in Nashville, and that has affected life for everyone.

I've been trying to save all our family's historic old photos, as well as literally hundreds of snapshots. Whew!! All that work in 80+ degree weather with no fan or air conditioner at the old house is really causing this ole gal to be a bit tired and actually drenched in sweat - oops! I forgot - we Southern gals don't sweat, we "glow!"

;)

Ruth, sorry I didn't notice your birthday either - may it start your new year with our Lord in a great fashion.

Love to everyone,
Ruth Ann

Hi, everybody.  Sorry I wasn't here yesterday.  No internet....again!  So today they came out for a few more hours to try to troubleshoot, and now my laptop is no longer wireless (they say my NEW wireless router is no good) But at least Darrel is back online, he has to have his computer for our business.

I went last night to see/hear Abby in her very last elementary school program, the band and choir concert.  It was good.

And now I have another serious prayer request.  When I went to see Beth just after we got back into town, I was showing her a necklace I brought her, and she asked, "What is it?"  So I held it about a foot from her face, and she said she cold tell it was a necklace, but couldn't tell what was on it.  I asked her when she first noticed her sight was diminishing, and she said about a week ago.  The home called and got her an appointment for May 17th.  I said, "I don't think so!" and went out to talk to them in person, and they saw Beth today.  I talked to the doctor, and the sad news is, he thinks it is either tumors growing on her optic nerves, or TIAs.  He said her optic nerve is very pale, in the one eye in which her pupil was somewhat dialated and he could see.  In either case, there is nothing they can do without risk of more damage.  Once again, we are crying out to the Lord for His mercy.  Thanks for praying.

Dr. Copeland is a family friend, which is why I felt confident that if he knew what was happening, he would see Beth.  And he said, "Bring her in TODAY!."  Thank God for friends!

I got an email from Beth's friend John.  He is coming to visit her again in July, flying this time instead of taking the train.  I am so glad he is coming; Beth needs to see her special friend.  I am very, very concerned about her eyes.   :'(

Ruth Ann, I'm so sorry about the flooding.  Please take care of yourself and don't overdo, okay?

Anthony, this laptop has Skype, but I haven't called to activate it yet, will love to have a chat with you as soon as I get that done!

I am really tired, it's been an emotional day, what with all the problems.  So rather than keep chattering, I am going to bed.  God is in control, and things will look brighter tomorrow.  Praise His name.

Hi everyone.  Not much to write about today as my schedule is clear after coffee and perhaps walking at the gym this morning.  It is going to be another beautiful day here in Georgia.

Regarding Skype, Anthony my daughter has used the Skype phone for a couple of years now and it works well.  However, when she calls us there is sometimes a delay and we hang up and we call her back and it seems to be fine.  We subscribe to the services they have where she can call any number (not limited to another computer-which is free) and also another service so she has a telephone number and others can call her without having Skype.  One costs $2.95/month and the other is something like $12.95 per quarter and a little less expensive if you pay for a year.

Janet, so sorry to read of the new problems Beth is having with her eyes.  Of all the senses I think losing the ability to see would be the most undesirable.  Glad the doctor came to see her as quickly as he did.  I am sure it will help her spirits to know that John is coming to visit again.

Time to leave for coffee.

Anthony

Good afternoon everyone.  It was nice to read the posts this morning.  It is always an encouragement to come onto the C.P.

Today is voting day in the U.K.  The polls are the closest I have ever known and it will be interesting to see the result.  There may be a hung Parliament which I can't remember happening before in my life-time.  It's good to know that God is ultimately in control.

I am not sure which Ruth has had a birthday, but God bless you #Ruth#.

Janet, it was upsetting to read about Beth's suffering.  Your possitive attitude is truly a testimony of putting faith in the Lord.  I do trust that something can be done to help Beth in the coming days. (I really would love to speak on Skype one of the days.)

Ruth Ann the flooding sounds alarming.  We have had a lot of flooding here in the U.K. recently so I know how devastating it can be.

Larry, it's good to see you posting.  Thanks for the info about Skype.  I have got the "Skype for Dummies" book and maybe I will learn something from it.

Today I have a virus and could not make it to work, so I am feeling disappointed.  Must rest up though and get myself better.

God bless all,

Anthony.

Janet, I am so sorry to hear of Beth eyesight failing.  I am praying that John comes and Beth can see him before complete eyesight failure.

I slept so good last night.  And why wouldn't I with my busy day yesterday.  Mowing the lawn, going to rehab, cleaning crystal  and two loads of laundry wore me out.  Today isn't near as busy.

I plan to do more crystal and that's it!

It is bright and sunny ... not a cloud in the sky.  We didn't get the storms last evening.  The clouds looked menacing but nothing developed.  God is good.  It rained for maybe 5 minutes.  It is cooler today and very nice.

I have been to the mailbox three times today!!  I got my bottle gas filled yesterday so took out the payment for it to the mailbox.  Then as I was filing the copy of the bill, I noticed the cost and I had written the check for the product sale before taxes!  So I go out the mailbox and bring my payment back in, void the check and write another check.  Then back to the mailbox.  I guess the plus side is I got my exercise!

:coffee:       Thanks for the Birthday Greetings.

Another nice day.

Mel is working on a small wood project and keeps coming asking questions. His ideas and what do I think of how it looks.

Janet:   Yet another problem I will be remembering Beth in my prayers.

Anthony:   I am the Ruth with nothing added to my name but I will start using  both names if that is a better idea which would be Ruth Marie.

Larry:   Now we know why you can be so fast.

Pat:  It is nice to see you more often.

I must go and phone my Aunt as I have not called for a couple of days.      Ruth

It's a nice day here today, a little windy, but not too bad.  Darrel and I attended a National Day of Prayer event--so vitally important to keep praying for our country.

I have so much to do, and am so sleepy I can barely keep my eyes open.  I might take a little nap and then try again.  I didn't sleep well last night, finally got up around two and sorted more of that mail.  I'm nearly done with that chore now.

Etta Sue, would you like to come over to my house and clean and polish for a while?  ;)

I will be going to see Beth after a while, see how she's doing today.  Thanks so m,uch for your prayers for her.

Jehohaz prayed for the Lord's help, and the Lord heard his prayer. The Lord could see how terribly the king of Aram was oppressing Israel. So the Lord raised up a deliverer to rescue the Israelites from the tyranny of the Arameans. Then Israel lived in safety again as they had in former days.

2 Kings 13:4-5 NLT

Prayer is weakness leaning on omnipotence.

W. S. Bowden

A God who rescues

Jehoahaz, king of Israel, lived an evil life. He committed all the sins of Jeroboam and continued leading the nation into the sin of idolatry. So the Lord turned the people of Israel over to be oppressed by the Arameans. But even though Jehoahaz had been a failure and disobedient to God as a king, when he sought the Lord's help, God heard. And seeing the terrible oppression Israel was living under, he intervened. He raised up a deliverer and savior (a foreshadowing of Christ), one who rescued them from tyranny, and Israel once again lived in safety and peace.

If God will do this for an evil king and an idolatrous nation when they call out to him, how much more will he hear and respond to the prayers of his children, who are reconciled to him because of the sacrifice of our savior, Jesus.

LORD, I thank you that your ear is open to the cry of your children and that you will act on our behalf. With that knowledge, we don't ever have to hesitate to cry out to you for your help and intervention in our lives. What a wonderful Father you are!

Sweet Hour of Prayer
(Click to hear music)

Pray continually.
1 Thessalonians 5:17

Words: William Walford, 1845; appeared in The New York Observer, September 13, 1845, accompanied by the following, written by Thomas Salmon:

During my residence at Coleshill, Warwickshire, England, I became acquainted with W. W. Walford, the blind preacher, a man of obscure birth and connections and no education, but of strong mind and most retentive memory.

In the pulpit he never failed to select a lesson well adapted to his subject, giving chapter and verse with unerring precision and scarcely ever misplacing a word in his repetition of the Psalms, every part of the New Testament, the prophecies, and some of the histories, so as to have the reputation of "knowing the whole Bible by heart."

He actually sat in the chimney corner, employing his mind in composing a sermon or two for Sabbath delivery, and his hands in cutting, shaping and polishing bones for shoe horns and other little useful implements. At intervals he attempted poetry.

On one occasion, paying him a visit, he repeated two or three pieces which he had composed, and having no friend at home to commit them to paper, he had laid them up in the storehouse within.

"How will this do?" asked he, as he repeated the following lines, with a complacent smile touched with some light lines of fear lest he subject himself to criticism. I rapidly copied the lines with my pencil, as he uttered them, and sent them for insertion in the Observer, if you should think them worthy of preservation.

Music: William B. Bradbury, Golden Chain (New York: 1861)

Sweet hour of prayer! sweet hour of prayer!
That calls me from a world of care,
And bids me at my Father's throne
Make all my wants and wishes known.
In seasons of distress and grief,
My soul has often found relief
And oft escaped the tempter's snare
By thy return, sweet hour of prayer!

Sweet hour of prayer! sweet hour of prayer!
The joys I feel, the bliss I share,
Of those whose anxious spirits burn
With strong desires for thy return!
With such I hasten to the place
Where God my Savior shows His face,
And gladly take my station there,
And wait for thee, sweet hour of prayer!

Sweet hour of prayer! sweet hour of prayer!
Thy wings shall my petition bear
To Him whose truth and faithfulness
Engage the waiting soul to bless.
And since He bids me seek His face,
Believe His Word and trust His grace,
I'll cast on Him my every care,
And wait for thee, sweet hour of prayer!

Sweet hour of prayer! sweet hour of prayer!
May I thy consolation share,
Till, from Mount Pisgah's lofty height,
I view my home and take my flight:
This robe of flesh I'll drop and rise
To seize the everlasting prize;
And shout, while passing through the air,
"Farewell, farewell, sweet hour of prayer!"

Sweet Hour of Prayer!  What a great hymn for this day!

Well, we are outside the McDonalds here in Winchester for our internet today.  Now we're on our way to visit Paul's son and daughter-in-law and then on Saturday, we leave to drive for Guelph!!!

I'm checking in again.  Beth is sick today, seems to be a stomach flu.  Her vision seems somewhat better, though.  Getting her glasses adjusted helped a lot, I think.  God knows, and He has her in the palm of His hand.

Good morning all. It's been a busy week and I'm glad today is Friday. Thursday was spent in court and it appears our foster child will be with us until the end of this month unless God intervines. The day promises to be nice with the possibility of scattered light showers. Nothing to greatly hinder the cleanup process so many are dealing with in this area.

Janet: My prayers are with Beth.

JudyB: Sweet Hour of Prayer is one of my favorite hymns. So very lovely.

Gord: A good friend once told me "Nothing gets old but your clothes".  I keep telling myself that.  ;)

Hi everyone.  It is going to be another day in the 90s but nice here in Georgia and then is suppose to cool down for a few days.

This morning I will take Pat back to see the eye doctor for the second scheduled followup visit from the surgery.  Then we will stop by our daughter's apartment in Atlanta and pick her up and bring her out to stay overnight.  She wants to be here to celebrate Mother's Day, which we will likely do tonight as she wants to go back to her apartment tomorrow afternoon.  This seems to work out best rather than wait until Sunday as she can rest a day before having to go back to work.  She was told yesterday that her job will continue for probably another two weeks and then they will be through for the tax season.

Today is men's coffee at the Senior Center and it will soon be time to leave.

Etta Sue

Good morning.  All the crystal is clean.  I knew I would do that.  I finished all 8 days on the 6th day!  Even the chandelier over the dining room table is sparkly!  Now for the rest of the house.  I am not cleaning for Euchre that I am having May 18.  Let's just say that I am spring cleaning...for 2002.  I am waaaay behind!

Today is an appointment with Nurse Andrea and this evening is another Baby Shower.  In between is Lowe's and WalMart!

And we are suppose to have severe thunderstorms today...this evening around 6pm...when the Baby Shower is!!

I may not be in here at all tomorrow.  I am going to an all day seminar about photography!

This morning's email from Pastor Tim:

Bagel Shop Student

"Hello Mrs. Frobisher" said the bearded guy behind the counter at the bagel shop.

My husband and I looked at him but drew complete blanks. "I'm sorry, do we know each other?" I asked.

"Yeah, you was my English teacher."

Leaning over, my husband whispered, "Good job, Honey, good job."

Oh, Janet:  My heart goes out to you and Beth.  I will pray for comfort for Beth and strength for you.

Ruth Ann:  So sorry for your job - I know from a tornado experience what a job it is to recover pictures.  You and your neighbors have a tough job ahead.

Good friends called and wanted to meet us in the mountains - just in time for  a spring storm.  Snow blocked us from driving all the way to Steamboat Springs as we had to turn back just before Rabbit Ears Pass (in case anyone knows the area).  17* F this morning as we left the cabin - then the pass was slushy.  Don lost his one remaining hearing aide and apparently dropped it in the parking lot after getting a haircut - a car drove over it.  It is about three weeks before his new aides arrive.  We did spot a moose in the park and I tried to get pictures, that will remain to be seen.  One coyote, lots of antelope, mountain sheep and one squirrel - lots of new calves in the ranching areas. Always a miracle to be seen.

Gord Brown

:)  Good evening to all.  As you can see that I am a bit earlier than usual and we have had a very wet day and much thunder tonight and lightning so we did not go anywhere today.

Carol:   I wish that I could see some of that wild life that you see.  We do have some around where we live but I never seem to be there when they are around.  Be careful on those slippery roads.

This weekend is not supposed to have nice weather and we hoped to play miniature golf but I don't think that will happen.

Well a HAPPY MOTHERS TO ALL THE MOTHERS ON C.P.

May the Lord bless.  Gord. :cp:

Prayer Is the Soul's Sincere Desire
(Click to hear music)

Written by: by James Montgomery, 1771-1854--James Montgomery  wrote 400 hymns in his career, approximately 100 are still in use; the more recognizable, in addition to "Hail To the Lord's Anointed" might be "Angels From the Realms of Glory", "Come to Calvary's Holy Mountain",  "Go to Dark Gethsemane", "Prayer is the Souls' Sincere Desire", "In the Hour of Trial", "Lift Up Your Heads", "Ye Gates of Brass" and "For Ever with the Lord".

1.   Prayer is the soul's sincere desire,
   unuttered or expressed,
the motion of a hidden fire
   that trembles in the breast.

2.   Prayer is the burden of a sigh,
   the falling of a tear,
the upward glancing of an eye,
when none but God is near.

3.   Prayer is the simplest form of speech
   that infant lips can try;
prayer the sublimest strains that reach
   the Majesty on high.

4.   Prayer is the contrite sinners' voice,
   returning from their way,
while angels in their songs rejoice
   and cry, "Behold, they pray!"

5.   Prayer is the Christians' vital breath,
   the Christians' native air;
   their watchword at the gates of death;
   they enter heaven with prayer.

6.   O Thou, by whom we come to God,
the Life, the Truth, the Way:
   the path of prayer thyself hast trod;
Lord, teach us how to pray!

JudyB

Thank you Larry for this hymn.  It is one I love.
