Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

I have been singing as I have mowed.  Thankfully the roar of the engine drowns out my voice!  Only God hears me!!!  This is what I have been singing.

Jesus Name above all Names
Beautiful Saviour, Glorious Lord
Emmanuel, God is with us
Blessed Redeemer, Living word

I am out of gas so have to run into town.  As a result I will do all my running around and be done for the day.

Janet

Judy, I love that little chorus, too!

Busy day at work, now I am tired, so early to bed and early to rise---again.

We had a funny thing happen two days in a row.  We saw a turtle on the road, and picked it up.  It was not happy about this and proceed to let us know.  Today we saw a turtle again......and it did the same thing!  Both times we put the turtle into the river or creek.  Kass is sure it was the same turtle!!!

Ruth Ann Bice

Judy, maybe y'all would like to try putting that turtle on the OTHER side of the road! ;D

With various doctor appointments for my elderly friend being this week, I took a "vacation day" today. I'm still in my robe! :)

Ahhhhh, it's really nice to be retired and in charge of my calendar.

Tomorrow, of course, will be devoted to preparing the powerpoint files for Sunday's worship service, then deciding what to cook to take for our all-church dinner after church.

So, I'm ready to rest the remainder of the evening away.

G'nite, friends.

Ruth Ann
...his compassions fail not.  They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.

Janet

Ruth Ann, I think I am going to have to re-retire in order to be in charge of my calendar!  This is getting ridiculous!  So good to know you are doing well at this time.

Judy, if you and Kass meet your turtle friend again, try marking it with just a dab of fingernail polish on its shell.  Then you will know for sure if it happens again.
My book Rising Above available at JanetDamon.com

JudyB

You know Janet I suggested to Kass that we do that, but we didn't have any with us.  I think I will grab some from the dollar store for that purpose.  Ruth Ann e have now tried both sides!  Silly turtle is going to get killed.

It is a cooler morning, the humidity is gone, and we have another lovely day.  John is home and is wanting to till the garden.  I have the lawns to finish and Kass has her things to do.  In all we all will be busy.

Have a great day every one.

The servant's reward

If the master returns and finds that the servant has done a good job, there will be a reward.

Matthew 24:46 NLT

A day of reward

There are as many ways to look at the return of Jesus as there are opinions about how it will happen....To the Romans, Paul calls is the "day of God's wrath" (Romans 2:5)....In his first letter to the Corinthians, Paul refers to it as the "day of the Lord" (1 Cor. 5:5). And in his second letter to the same church he calls it the "day of salvation" (2 Cor. 6:2)....To the Ephesians he calls it a "day of redemption" (Eph. 4:30). And he encourages the church of Philippi to stand strong until the "day of Christ Jesus" (Phil. 1:6). Jude doesn't even try to describe it—he just calls it the "great Day" (Jude 1:6).

Each of these phrases suggests a unique and different view....But there's one I like the best. For followers of Jesus, it will be a day of reward.

James tells us, "God blesses the people who patiently endure testing. Afterward they will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him: (James 1:12)....In his second letter to Timothy [Paul says], "Now the prize awaits me—the crown of righteousness that the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give me on that great day of his return. And the prize is not just for me but for all who eagerly look forward to his glorious return" (4:8).

But it is Jesus himself who puts it best: "Be happy about it! Be very glad! For a great reward awaits you in heaven" (Matt. 5:12). As Christians, we have a lot to look forward to!

Beulah Land
(Click to hear music)

"You will be called Hepzibah, and your land Beulah." Isaiah 62:4

Words: Edgar P. Stites:
It was in 1876 that I wrote 'Beulah Land.' I could write only two verses and the chorus, when I was overcome and fell on my face. That was one Sunday. On the following Sunday I wrote the third and fourth verses, and again I was so influenced by emotion that I could only pray and weep. The first time it was sung was at the regular Monday morning meeting of Methodists in Philadelphia. Bishop McCabe sang it to the assembled ministers. Since then it is known wherever religious people congregate. I have never received a cent for my songs. Perhaps that is why they have had such a wide popularity. I could not do work for the Master and receive pay for it.

Music: John R. Sweney

I've reached the land of corn and wine,
And all its riches freely mine;
Here shines undimmed one blissful day,
For all my night has passed away.

Refrain

O Beulah Land, sweet Beulah Land,
As on thy highest mount I stand,
I look away across the sea,
Where mansions are prepared for me,
And view the shining glory shore,
My heav'n, my home forever more!

My Savior comes and walks with me,
And sweet communion here have we;
He gently leads me by His hand,
For this is Heaven's border land.

Refrain

A sweet perfume upon the breeze,
Is borne from ever vernal trees,
And flow'rs, that never fading grow
Where streams of life forever flow.

Refrain

The zephyrs seem to float to me,
Sweet sounds to Heaven's melody,
As angels with the white robed throng
Join in the sweet redemption song.

Refrain

I am highly impressed with the new high school.  They have a little over 400 in attendance and this is the end of the third year since the school opened.  My, 45 computers in the computer training class where they learn everything you need to know about computers but are afraid to ask.  In the English room, the computers are in the desks where they write their essays and takes their quizzes...can't copy the person beside you!  The weight room is full of bench presses, treadmills etc. for strength and cardio workouts.  The gym is three basketball courts with dividers between them when necessary but when a official game is played the bleachers come out to seat 7,000!!!  The auditorium seats 700 with an orchestra pit and you can't even see anyone in the pit.  The Science Lab is better than Ball State University's Science Lab!  All classrooms are furnished with overhead screens so what is on the teacher's computer is seen by all the class.  The only thing I truly recognized the same as to what was in the old high school were the pencil sharpeners!! !!  They were still the 'stick your pencil in the left side and turn the crank on the right' kind!

After the tour, we met at the Lions Club for our evening meal.  There were 43 there.  25 classmates, one class sponsor and 17 spouses.  And we voted to go to Cornerstone Inn again next year!!  I am to call today and get a block of rooms reserved!

Now we go to the 2010 Commencement next Saturday evening.

Etta Sue Wow you talk about an up to date school.  I have never seen anything like that up here.  That is really great for the students.  How many students could they accommodate?

It is cool enough today after the intense heat of the past couple of weeks that I am wearing a light weight jacket.  It is a beautiful day.

Etta Sue

I think that I forgot to mention that the high school that I went to was fairly new.  The class of 1955 was the first class to attend that school and graduate and they only attended their Senior year.  The Class of 1954 had their Commencement in the gym but didn't go to school there!

Another beautiful day in Indiana.  Not a cloud in the sky and already 72°.  It got to 90° yesterday.  Thank God for air-conditioning!

I am ready for church.  I don't know if Ivalou is going or not...her daughter, Jo, is here.  But I won't call or worry if they don't show up like last week!

This week's promise: God's Word is powerful
Blessed rest

Blessed are those who die in the Lord...They are blessed indeed, for they will rest from all their toils and trials; for their good deeds follow them!

Janet

I have more time this morning because we are going to the worship service at the all school reunion, which doesn't start until 10:30.  We went to the banquet last night.  There were hundreds of people there, and it was very nice.  Of course, we saw and visited a little with lots of people we don't see often.  Darrel's class was the class of 1956. (I didn't attend school here, but all my kids graduated from this high school.)

Etta Sue, glad you had such a great time at your class reunion.  ;)

I am watching Jentezen Franklin on TV.  On Sunday mornings, I hear four sermons before I go to church!  ;)

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone on a beautiful Sunday morning here in Georgia.  It is sunny and suppose to reach 80 today.  I just stepped outside to take out the trash and it is very pleasant.

We had a full day Friday and then yesterday morning took our daughter back to her apartment.  Pat and I were both really tired yesterday evening.  It is unusual for her to go to bed before I do but she did last night and slept well until about 8 am this morning.  I enjoyed an extra hour of sleep as well.

We will be attending church this morning and then going out to eat either with the group or just Pat and I.  She fixed chicken on the grill last evening and it was very good along with some sautéed squash. Then think we will have a quiet afternoon and evening.  We have nothing planned for tomorrow other than I will go to my men's luncheon.

Etta Sue, it sounds like you had a wonderful weekend with former classmates.  Having lived far away from where I went to school I think I have attended only one or two alumni banquets.  Our school was so small that all classes attend the same banquet.  It has to be a dying event as there have been no new folks eligibile to attend since 1959, the year I graduated.

Janet, you and Darrel have such busy lives.  Sure hope Darrel's surgery takes care of his recurrent problem.  Infections are nothing to fool around with.

Judy, thanks for the daily scriptures and posting the hymns.

Marilyn, that sounds like a meal to remember and one not to be experienced too often.  Hope everyone enjoyed it.

Ruth Ann, it is nice of you to help a friend get to the doctor appointments.  Glad you can have a day to yourself.

Jesus, Your Blood and Righteousness
(Click to hear music)

Author:  Nicolaus L. von Zinzendorf, 1700-1760
Trans. By John Wesley, 1703-1791
Musician:  William Gardiner's Sacred Melodies, 1815

I will greatly rejoice in the LORD, my soul shall be joyful in my God;
for he hath clothed me with the garments of salvation,
he hath covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom
decketh himself with ornaments, and as a bride adorneth herself with her jewels.

Isaiah 61:10

Jesus, your blood and righteousness
My beauty are, my glorious dress;
Mid flaming worlds, in these arrayed,
With joy shall I lift up my head.

Bold shall I stand in that great day,
Cleansed and redeemed, no debt to pay;
For by your cross absolved I am
From sin and guilt, from fear and shame.

Lord, I believe your precious blood,
Which at the mercy seat of God
Pleads for the captives’ liberty,
Was also shed in love for me.

Lord, I believe, were sinners more
Than sands upon the ocean shore,
You have for all a ransom paid,
For all a full atonement made.

When from the dust of death I rise
To claim my mansion in the skies,
This then shall be my only plea:
Christ Jesus lived and died for me.

Then shall I praise you and adore
Your blessed name forevermore,
Who once, for me and all you made,
An everlasting ransom paid.

Carol

With the new & expensive hearing aides, Don could not hear anything at church and music was especially distorted.  Feeling sad.  We will go back and use the church aides that did work very well on the speaker not on any singing or any music.  Tough for a former musician.

It is very windy outdoors and has been all day long.  We had a quiet day at home and I did a little sewing.

Larry:  It does sound like Stacey is visiting with you and Pat more often and isn't that nice for you.

JudyB

Carol I am so sorry about Don's hearing.  I understand how you feel.....Helpless.  Dad had a hearing problem as well, He missed hearing crickets...funny eh....Sad too.  I have been praying for you both.

Janet

Carol, that is so sad about Don's hearing.  I am sure both of you are mourning this loss.

Beth had a pretty good time yesterday at the last of the reunion festivities.  One of the girls from her class took time to visit with her, which helped.  And she got to see several people who care about her, one was our former neighbor who came to the hospital in Wichita to visit her.

Both Darrel's brother and sister were in town for the reunion, but we only got to talk to them a little bit out there, neither one came to the house to visit.  Strange family sometimes.  :-\

I am up way too early, couldn't sleep any more.  Have to work today, then hope the wind isn't blowing a gale, as I want to go to the cemetery later.

See you later!

(Since the door was still unlocked, I posted on yesterday's.  If someone comes to lock up for last week, please move this to today's page.  Thanks.)

Hi everyone on this Memorial Day here in the USA.  We had a heavy rain about 6 am and more showers or thunderstorms are predicted throughout the day.  It also rained very heavily last evening for about 30 minutes.

I just spoke with our daughter and whenever the weather is stormy she suffers more from the pain in her feet and legs and back.  She is planning on staying in today.

I have my men's luncheon today and we are going to a new place for us that is a buffet.  That is all that is on my schedule so am looking forward to a quiet and restful day.  We couldn't walk this morning as the church is locked the Memorial Day.

Carol, sorry to read that Don's hearing aids are not doing the job.  Several of my morning coffee friends wear hearing aids and they were discussing them this morning.

Janet, it was nice to read that Beth enjoyed the class reunion.  Hope you don't have to work too hard today.
