What a blessed family!

:) From Our Forums

  • Prayer and Praise     Thanks for visiting this area of our site to share prayer requests and items for praise!

Morning Devotional...

Psalm 33

The congregation - the people of the most important family on earth - turn toward one another and sing, "Rejoice in the Lord, O you righteous!  For praise from the upright is beautiful." They also urge their instrumentalists to play mightily for God in response to their praise.

Then they turn again, lift their hands upward and sing and shout praise directly to the Lord Himself.  They do it in words that express all their experience of Him, all they know and love about their wonderful God.  They sing, "For the word of the Lord is right, and all His work is done in truth.  He loves righteousness and justice; the earth is full of the goodness of the Lord!"

They sing of a God Who made everything there is by His mere word, and of a God before Whom all peoples should stand in awe as their Creator and Lord.  He's a God before Whom the plans made by even the mightiest nations are as nothing, but a God Whose own plans stand forever.  At the same time, though, He's a very personal God - all Who love Him are a truly blessed family.

And He is SO great!,  He knows every action and even the innermost thoughts of the heart of every person in the world at every moment!  No one can succeed in this world by means of great armies, great strength, or mighty weapons, but instead "the eye (the blessing) of the Lord is on those who fear Him" - on those who recognize that He alone is LORD of all - and on those who hope in His mercy.  He will deliver them in every situation.

Finally, in the last stanza, the family of those who love and fear Jehovah all join together to declare their faith and love.  They sing, "Our soul waits for the Lord; He is our help and our shield.  For our heart shall rejoice in Him, because we have trusted in His holy Name." Then they all sing the family prayer: "Let Your mercy, O Lord, be upon us, just as we hope in You!"

Are you part of that beautiful family?  Do you sometimes simply rejoice to stand with the other members of God's special family to praise Him?  Do you rejoice to be reminded of His sovereignty, faithfulness, and love?
Al Moak

Here's a hymn that reflects these thoughts.  Just click to hear the music.

BIND US TOGETHER, LORD

Bind us together, Lord
bind us together,
with cords that cannot be broken.
Bind us together, Lord,
bind us together,
bind us together with love.

There is only one God,
there is only one King
there is only one Body
that is why we sing:
Bind us together, Lord ...

Made for the glory of God,
purchased by his precious Son,
born with the right to be clean,
for Jesus the victory has won.
Bind us together, Lord ...

You are the family of God,
you are the promise divine,
you are God's chosen desire,
you are the glorious new wine.
Bind us together, Lord ...

:) Good evening to all.  I was just reading the last postings before brother Al put the new week on hte post's.  If you have not gone to Colin's new site don't miss doing it.  When I was a little boy from as small as I was aloud to go I went to my grandmothers in Northern Ireland and always loved it.  My mum was born in Ireland and lived there till she got married and moved to Scotland in 19-40.  If anybody ever gets the chance to go to there you should.

Ruth Ann:  I hope that you have no problems when you get your P.T. Cruiser back and hope that you are o.k.

Well it late must get to sleep.      Al thanks for your devotional and that great hymn the Lord bless you for it. :)

Pat ~ That sure is a beautiful pumpkin!  How many pies do you think you can get from it?   :D

Carol and Ruth Ann ~ I put the url to that "invitation" site in my browser and it is a legitimate place after all ... gospelpals.com.  I checked it out and still decided to pass, tho.   :)

Hi everyone.  The big move is over and it went very well.  By the time to got to Atlanta (Al we live about 30 east of Atlanta) the two men just about had everything moved up to the other apartment.  Two of Stacey's friends, one of whom is our housekeeper, came as the move was completed and helped clean up the old apartment and then helped unpack a lot of things in the new one.  I got her computer setup and hooked up for Internet, which should be available today and helped with the unpacking as well.  We got home about 4:30 and even though Pat and I didn't do much lifting or work we were both extremely tired.

I got a good nights sleep until about 3 am and then woke up and couldn't go back to sleep.  This seldom happens to me but probably was the result of being so tired last evening.  I have a quiet day today with only a luncheon at 1 pm.  I think the housekeeper is going to come over this morning and pickup the computer I finished putting together for her that has the Linux software on it (which I like a lot).  I will give her some instructions on using it as she isn't very computer savvy, nor is her daughter who will actually be using this computer.

Like several of you, I also got that request to join a website but since I didn't know who it was from and really have no desire to get involved in another website like that all I did was click on the link to the actual website.

Al, thanks for the devotional for this week.  Your writings on Psalms are also so good.

Pat, that is really a bright orange and also a beautiful picture of the pumpkin.

Time to go to coffee at McDonalds.

I must be gullible....I joined gospelpals.com  But haven't done anything with it since and may not.

What wonderful weather we are having in Indiana.  But I really don't think we will have a pretty fall.  It is too dry so the leaves are drying up, turning brown and falling.  There are a few trees that are colorful but not many.  You have to look for them.

Our sermon yesterday was on being humble.  Great message.  Then there were seven of us that went out for Chinese later.  A new couple went with us and it was nice getting to talk to them.

Tonight is Photo Guild and Kitty and I are furnishing the refreshments.  I fixed some Caramel Corn and plain popcorn yesterday.  Also taking the candy corn with peanuts and red hots with peanuts.  Kitty is making some brownies and taking pop to drink.  That should feed them.

Ruth Ann Bice

Hi, friends,

A good visit with the doctor today - Praise God, the new blood pressure medication is working as it should, and even more amazing to me is that since my knee surgery July 30, I've lost 39 pounds. Most likely, it's a combination of no more work stress and long hours along with increased physical activity to help rehab the new knee.

Karma, I hope you were able to see my late-evening wishes to you yesterday for a great birthday. You're a valued member of CP, and we love you. Please give your family members a little hug from Ruth Ann today, and tell them you want one back. That way, for sure you'll reap many rewards, including 3 - not 1 - hug from me.  ;)

Also to WeAre1 - happy birthday to you on this October Monday. I surely do hope your day is wonderful, as well. May your new year be good to you with life, love, faith ever strengthened, and health either great or improving!  :)

These Canada Thanksgiving graphics are wonderfully prepared! Y'all do so well. Now that retirement's here for me, and as soon as (isn't that always the beginning of an excuse!!) I can spend less time dealing with operation bills that should not be coming in to me, rehab exercises, and working to prepare my home for the upcoming renovation (41 years of living in this house - YIKES!), I hope I can begin learning various graphics and photo tactics.

I've been doing the church's PowerPoint presentations for a few weeks, and truly do want to take some original photographs of things like our own decorations at the front of the church, our offering plates, etc., so the time's fast approaching for me to chuck my timidness with a digital camera.

Y'all have a great rest of the day.
...his compassions fail not.  They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.

Carol

Jane:  Thanks for checking on that site - I barely have time to come in here some days.

Summicron:  I am positive that every Christian on earth has had moments of doubt as you mentioned in your note.  My little advice - come in here often.  Read all the notes and especially the very good news at the top of each Thought for the Week.  May the words work their way into your heart.  Ask lots of questions.  Remember that we are given Grace each and every moment of our lives.  You are loved.

Ruth Ann:  Hooray for you & your numbers being down down down.

Don is taking his walk - we painted the room that I will use for sewing.  It is an uplifting vanilla almost yellow color.  Just love it and the closet is painted as well.  I shampooed part of the carpet and will do more & move the furniture when that part is day.

I am at Heather's fot turkey..... Looks like a good meal to be had by all.

The church collected mounds of food, which has been distributed to those without.

IN ABOUT 3 WEEKS i will have my own computer.  Woohoo it has been a long time without.  we lost ours in January,  everything on the hard drive is gone, but we can rebuild.

I am about to be called so I will close down before they have a chance!

Have a great day folks,  I will be back on Wednesday.

Janet

Hey, Kids, I'm HOME!  But only for a few days.  I haven't time just now to read all the posts I missed, that will have to wait.

We were 34 hours in transit, and our ankles are still swollen.  We got home at 1 AM Sunday, and are still not back on Central time, woke at 4 this morning, both of us, and couldn't get back to sleep again.  I hope tonight is better.

I hope everyone is well.

We had a good trip but as usual, were very glad to get back home!

The turkey is cooking upstairs, my pumpkin pie is cooling down here.  In a short while I will make a salad.  We are having our Thanksgiving dinner today.  Good thing as the power went out around dinner time last night and 200,000 folks were in the dark for about two hours.  I hate that!

I was playing Spades on the internet, had a most wonderful hand to bid, a good partner who understood the game....then pow.  Will never know the outcome of the game.  Enjoy playing Crib, Spades and Hearts and that is all the chat I personally care for on the internet.  Also got that e-mail, checked it out, going to pass.  It is probably fine...I haven't much to chat about.

Tues. going for a haircut and to get my heavy parkas out of the cleaners.  We  have been having lots of rain and some quite cold days.  Not bad today, except for the rain.  Wed. I am going to take my little train trip to Parksville and see my long ago friend.  Will probably bore her terrribly, as her life has been so interesting and mine not.  Simple, will let her do all the talking. ;)

Summicron, I read your post and sometimes most of us feel down at times.  When that happens, I listen to music, go for walks, hug a pet, always knowing that God is in control, is real, and there is much to be grateful for.  When we accept Jesus, all past sins are forgiven.  Take your Bible and check it out.  Along the way, you will find comfort.

Time to go and make my salad.  Boy, that turkey does smell great. :)

Pleasant Day/Evening and God Bless.

Liz

Hi I am home too Got home this morning about 11:45. Will tell  you more about it later, tired from trying to catch up on all the postings I have miss both here and on SN. I have a headache too.

I'll just paste here what I posted on SN.
The dogs managed to break out the drivers side front window out of my car to escape, I left it down for them to have air and put them to bed in the car after that  night of barking with Happy; and Bebe tearing the trim off the inside of the door that goes into the garage. After they got out of the window they (I assume Bebe) did a number on the trim on the outside of the same door.

When I got home I ordered the glass for the door from an auto dismantler for $85. and called a friend who owns a body shop and he is going to install it for  a discount on the labor for $50.

It was good other wise, they got along great with the cat, in fact Bebe gave the cat a wide berth acted like she was afraid of the cat.  Fritzy would go sniff them and examine them but the dogs din;t do anything. Just took it all in. It was so funny to watch them. I am not going to take them again until I move up there. Last night they were very good dogs, I found both of them sleeping together in the small bathroom in the hallway.

Hi everyone.  Glad to see the travelers are home and each says they had a good time.  Marilyn it sounds like your dogs don't like being confined.  Janet, hope you and Darrel were able to get a good nights rest last night.

This will be a busy day for me as I have a meeting this morning to attend and then will leave for a 2 pm doctors appointment.  I hope to get back in time to stop for my flu shot as it will save a separate trip.  The housekeeper is coming today to clean.  She and her daughter were here yesterday to get a computer lesson in using the Linux software and then they took their computers away.  So my computer projects are over for a little while, at least.

Liz, don't sell yourself short on terms of interest to your friend.  Often it isn't the words that are said it is the sharing of oneself that is important and the things in your life are as important as what has happened in the life of your friend.  You have family and experiences of life.  It sounds like all of you were having great meals yesterday.

Judy, nice to see you will be getting your computer back before long.  It is tough to get along without it when we get used to using it.

Carol, that sounds like a very bright and cheerful room for sewing.

Time to get ready to leave for coffee.  I always try to put somethings away in my office to make it easier for the housekeeper to do her work and haven't done that yet.

Carol

Judy B:  Say hello to Heather!  How is she doing?

Liz:  I am supposed to write about my life for the high school reunion.  So many moves - the children and the moves kept me busy but my life isn't that interesting to me.  I do believe it was all planned by the Master and it has been perfect in that way.

Janet
:  Welcome back Tell us about your trip.

Marilyn
:  Sorry for the mishap with the dogs.  We went over to son's house & their rescue German Shepherd had eaten two cushions off their couch .

It has been right around the freezing mark here in the mornings.  Don is pouring my  :coffee:

Am much too stressed about worry over this election.  After all, my new neighbor told me yesterday that God is still in control.

Photo Guild was fun.  Seems they would all like to come to my house for a field trip and take sunset photos out my bathroom window!!  Then I surprised them with a photo of downtown Indy.  I told them I got out of the bathroom and went to Indy!

Ivalou came over this morning and cut my hair.  Tonight is Beef and Boards and we are to see 'Sound of Music'.  I know it well be great.

Cloudy today in Indiana with chances of rain.  We need rain.  Not too much though.  The farmers still have soy beans and corn to get in.

Janet

Carol, that is what I am holding fast to--the knowledge that God is in control.  And I am hoping that Americans have good sense, will believe that unless and until they prove me wrong.

Oh, my, now Mickey Mouse has registered to vote in Florida!  :ticked:

On our trip we visited Germany, Hungary, Serbia, Croatia, Bulgaria and Romania.  We had a little tour in each country, with local guides telling us their history from the distant past to the present.  After a while, my head was spinning with all those facts; but I did take copious notes.  When you consider that in Europe, every country is comparable in size to one of our states, and each has its own government, it is easier to understand why their history is so confusing.  Of course, we heard much about the way they lived under Communist rule, saw thousands of the ugly blocks of housing thrown up by the Communists after they destroyed the people's homes.  So much misery and bloodshed, all driven by greed.  Greed for power, greed for money.  Have we here in the US learned from their experiences?  I truly hope we have.

We saw lots of lovely sights, met really nice people, ate far too much great food, took hundreds of photos.  Today my ankles are closer to their original size, thank goodness.

If you have specific questions I will be more than happy to answer, otherwise, I don't know what to tell you, there is so much to tell!  And I don't want to bore you.

Pat, I am leaving on Thursday to go to Florida (Walt Disney World) with the kids.  Abby wants me to go, but if I hadn't already said yes, and Jeff bought the tickets, I would back out and stay home. because I'm so tired and also need to be here to help Darrel sponsor our Pilgrims on their Walk to Emmaus.

We drove home from Denver in a driving wind and rain storm, and it has been raining here ever since!  We are rejoicing because we need the moisture so much.  Darrel looked at the rain gauge this morning and we have over an inch and a half, and it is still raining.

I need to get some things done here, I wish you all a wonderful and God-filled day.
My book Rising Above available at JanetDamon.com

Marilyn

Janet it sounds like you had a very nice time on your tour.  Some of that history is pretty ugly when you see what all has been done there and listen to the true stories.

I have a Doctor's appointment this afternoon for my yearly checkup. I have nothing new to report to them. All the same aches and pains haven't change in the last year.

Carol dogs do many different things when they are nervous or left alone in a new place. I had a dog that ate part of the carpet when I moved to the Mojave desert from central California. The same dog ate a hole in  the couch. But we love them anyway and excuse their behavoir when we understand that they too are nervous and lonely

Kassie is somewhat better today.  She is struggling with stress at school, and it is coming out as nusea.  Keep her in prayer please.  She comes across as hard and tough, but at the core that toughness is replaced th a marshmallow interior.

Not much activity here since my last post.  Our rain has stopped, it is still cool.  And we managed to sleep until after 5 this morning.  8)

I packed my suitcase for Florida this morning, am packing really light, as the condo Jeff rented has a washer and dryer.

Today I need to get my painting stuff together and ready, because when I get home from Florida, I won't have DAYS but only HOURS before my week long class starts!  Whew!  After that, I hope to stay at home for a while!  :)

I just went and looked at all the porch photos and cast my votes.  Some really nice entries, as usual.

The state is having a contest of photos of people over 60, engaged in daily life, so I am going to see what I can capture for that.

Talk to you later!

Well , its the day after election day here. So I guess things will settle down now. :)
I was to our ladies prayer meeting this morning. And I did the devotional and brought the word on how we are to be continually growing spiritually.
The weather is damp here today but still not bad for this time of year.
Hello to everyone and may God richly bless you today.

Marilyn

I tho't I came in and reported on my DR  appointment, but I guess I didn't. The report is all good. Bone Density has improved from the year before, Mammogram  normal. Blood work normal. Had two warts frozen on my leg and a teeny tiny one on the end of my nose that I didn't even know was a wart. Got the order for my shingles injection and commended  on my good health. Still not taking any meds.

My insurance covers the shingles injection and my co pay is only $3.10.

That's all folks.

Hello everyone

Was interested in listening to the election results last night.  Sort of happy but it would have been better to have a more solid result.

I forgot to tell you all that I went to see our Prime Minister last Saturday and chuckled to see myself on three major TV networks on the news in the evening!  He shook my hand and said, "Nice to see you here."  I said, "God bless you, Mr. Harper" and he bent down his head and said, "That's the nicest comment I've heard today!

So, that was my interesting day on Saturday.

Good med results Marilyn.

Sound of Music was wonderful.  Such wonderful singing.  Wonderful how they can do a stage show on a tiny stage and in a movie it takes mountains and fields!!

Today was Federation Day.  Six ladies from Clarksville Christian Church went to Carmel Christian Church to meet with other ladies from Christian Churches in Hamilton County.  There were 43 women there.  We had a meeting of past memories, remembering those who have left us this past year, singing and prayer.  Then a lovely lunch.  Then back to the sanctuary for more prayer and entertainment.  The Mossburg's played their violins.  Seems these two teachers were married 6 years before they had any children and then they had 8 kids in 10 years.  They thought they were done and then Hannah showed up 6 years later.  A boy 18, a girl 17 and another boy 15 played violins accompanied by CD background music.  They played a variety of music and made those violins sound like one.  Great entertainment.

Now I am home...doing some laundry.  My next big thing is Euchre at my house next Tuesday.  So that means dusting, sweeping, mopping, cooking, shopping....all before Tuesday at 3pm.  Oh, yes!  And calling to see who is coming and who isn't and getting subs for ones who aren't.  I know I need two subs already!!!

Hi everyone.  It is a warm and sunny day here in the south.  We attended Bible study with the pastor this morning.  We are studying I John and it is an interesting study.  From there we went to the Donut shop and after asking them to turn up the heat we had a comfortable and enjoyable time of visiting.  Then Pat and I went to an Italian place that has a nice buffet.  The owner is the chef and makes everything himself fresh each day.  It was very good and the serving were small so hope I didn't do too much damage to my Weight Watcher's diet although don't have a clue on how to record it.  Guess I will just put in an estimated guess for the lunch.

Today is choir practice.  I just now worked on the Messiah pieces we were asked to practice with the CD the choir director provided for each part.

Janet

Wow!  Our very own Pat is a TV celebrity!  How cool is that?  8) 8) 8)  Glad you were able to bless your Prime Minister with those words and that he accepted and appreciated them.

Tonight we take our "Pilgrims" to the Emmaus meeting in Lakin (about 20 miles away) for them to be prayed over before their big weekend Walks.

I learned that the lady who went to the Spelling Bee in my place because I went to Europe, came in 7th.  Not too bad!  :)  Next year I will go, and I will WIN!!  ;) (I hope.)

Beth is having a lot of headaches lately, and they are not sure why.  :(  John is calling her every day now, and has made his plans to come here for Christmas.  He will be coming by Amtrack rather than flying this time.

Dinah (our cat) and Sarah (new puppy) have gotten used to each other now, and romp and play really well together.  So cute to watch.  Dinah is still twice Sarah's size.

See you tomorrow if I have the time.

Good day to all. It is a sunny day here and I am going to go for a good walk and soon has my pot of Turkey soup is cooked.
I trust you all will have a good day.

Turkey soup.....mmmmmm sounds good, Just what the doctor ordered.  Kassie's cold has caught up with me.  I rarely get colds so I find this a real nuisance.

It was a bright clear morning today.  I wish I had one of you lovely folks to take a picture of the sunrise.  It was beautiful.

Today will be a full day with classes and and my marching orders while the boss is gone.

Have a great day folks

Good Morning, I should be getting my window today and hopefully installed as well. My heater came on this morning and I had it set at 60°, I was surprised when I got up and found it had turned on.

Happy has started shedding and I have been picking up dog hair everywhere. It seems that I am spending a lot of time doing that.

Good morning.  Not much happening since I last posted.  I did watch the Presidential Debates.  Of course, I know who won!

Not going anywhere today.  Just need to start house cleaning for next Tuesday.

I think Ivalou left this morning for Ohio to be with her two girls, grandkids and great.  She will be home Sunday or Monday.  She had to test her blood and if the numbers weren't okay, then she has to wait for the doctor to call her.  But she will be going sometime today...even this evening, if she has too.

That's it.  Kind of cloudy, overcast and cool today...even though I have a fan on me right now.

Thanks for asking about Beth, Al.  I don't have any connections to even inquire about stem cell research and how it might help her.  And Mayo Clinic called and told her they will not accept her into the trial they have going with the new medicine, because she is not ambulatory.  :'(  I told her we will just keep on trying.  She is having a lot of headaches now, and they are telling her it is probably because of the neurofibromas growing inside her spinal column, plus the fact she is starting through menopause.  It is so hard to see her suffer, besides becoming more and more helpless.  :-\  Right now, the relationship with John is at the center of her thoughts, and I pray she doesn't get depressed after he comes and then leaves again.

Darrel came home with a cold, is going to see the doctor today.  I'm taking vitamin C and Zinc to ward it off, as I am feeling some symptoms myself, and I surely do not have time to be sick!

I will be leaving this afternoon around 3 for the Florida trip with the kids, back on the 25th for a day, leaving on the 27th for 5 days of painting.  Whew!

We had a really freaky, sad accident here while we were away.  A man was riding his motorcycle and an owl hit him in the face, causing him to lose control, and he was killed.  His wife was following in the car.......such a hard thing on her.  They used to attend our church, but changed to another about a year ago.  In fact, they were on their way home from church when the accident happened.

I am going to school to eat lunch with my Youth Friends today.  Talk to you later.  I hope each of you is greatly blessed by God today and every day.

Oh, Janet, I'm so sad about Beth.  What a sad life she's leading right now.  Please know that I will continue to remember her before the throne of Grace.

I don't know how you are keeping up with your schedule.

Hi everyone.  Another beautiful day here in Georgia and I have had a very busy morning.  As soon as I got home from coffee I called Midas Muffler about having them check the brakes in my Hyundai.  I had them checked in May, after the dealer tried to tell me they were shot and the rotor would have to be turned and I Midas checked and said they didn't need to be repaired.  That was the same result this morning, which was indeed good news.

Then I stopped at Walgreen Drug Store and got one of those grabbers for Stacey to help her reach things on the upper shelves of her cabinets and also from the floor.

Then I went to Kohl's and bought our oldest great grandson birthday presents as his 6th birthday is on Tuesday.  I also found a couple of pull over sweat jackets with a 1/4 zipper at the neck, which is really like as they are so warm.

I have now had my lunch and will rest shortly.  Pat has been away all morning at the dentist getting preparations done for a crown on a tooth.  She was also going to the sewing store to ask them some questions on using her machine on repairing jeans.

Janet, you are one busy lady.  So sorry to hear that Mayo's refused to accept Beth in their experimental program and know this must be discouraging for you all.  Perhaps something else will be revealed where she can find some help.  Enjoy your trip to Florida.

Nita

Good morning, everyone.  The workers are here today to install the last two windows.  That means it's cold in the house, so the dogs and I are "holed up" in the computer room with a space heater, a cup of Breathe Right Tea and three bones.  You can decide who has which.:)

We decided not to start the painting project until the Spring.   I don't know if we'll have enough dry weather now to complete painting the house.

Colds are everywhere around here.  Both of the babies were sick, and I woke up this morning with cold symptoms.  I used to never get colds.......my body would fight them off at the first twinge.  Now I find I am getting whatever the babies have.  Twice now.  Mine still is light compared to most people, but I sure need to take precautions where I didn't think about it before.   Is this aging? lol

Janet, yes, that's so sad that Beth can't be accepted in the Mayo program.  I know you are grateful for her relationship with John and that he will come to see her.  Bless her heart.  I'll be praying for her too.

Larry, those little grabbers are great.  Also, when my mom died, I inherited (some took furniture.....I took the broom and dustpan :)) her dustpan on a pole.  I don't have to bend over.  I used to clean her floors for her and got really used to not bending over.  Great things they make to help us.

Melody, your turkey soup DOES sound good!  Turkey sounds good. lol  My granddaughter and I were talking about Thanksgiving dinner just yesterday.  She's craving turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy, corn.  I like the green bean casserole and fruit salad and for leftover rolls.........I like turkey, cream cheese and cranberries to make little sandwiches.    But back to soup..........what all do you put in it?

Marilyn, Mia(the Pom)just went through her shedding time.  Hair Everywhere!!!  Times like this we definitely have to be "dog people". :) The boys don't shed much at all, but even they have times of dropping hair.  I try to cover the furniture with throws, and yank them off when I see company coming, but mostly it's just family, and they know me and my dogs. lol

JudyB, take care of that cold.  I hope it's just a little one and you'll be over it quickly.

Blessings, Nita

I wish y'all would be quiet about turkey sandwiches with cranberry!  That's one of my very favorite foods.  Oh, ya'll are so cruel!

Nita - how were the bones?

Janet - I haven't quite accepted mayo's answer yet.  I just prayed to our Father, Who is sovereign over Mayo and eveyone else as well.  It may be that He doesn't mean to heal Beth in this life, but - until we know for sure - I'm continuing to pray.

I'm still praying for my legs and the edema.  Nobody seems to know what's causing it or what to do about it.  Would appreciate your praying with me.

Hi everyone.  It is a gloomy day here and I just went to the post office to mail our oldest great grandson his 6th birthday present and it was actually raining, which was nice.

Yesterday afternoon I did more cleaning in my storage shed and got a couple more big bags of garbage into the trash collection.  I emptied off a set of 4 metal shelves and brought them to the garage.  My job today is to break them down so I can take them down to our daughter's apartment so she will have them for storage.  Some of the bolts don't want to come out.  I am taking a break from the project at the moment.

Nothing else on the schedule for today so will be taking things easy after getting the shelves ready for the trip.

Nita, a couple of years ago I bought one of those dust pans with the handle and we love it as no longer need to bend over when using it.  This usually brought on dizziness and it is painful for Pat to pick up things off the floor, although it seems she is always dropping something.  Probably a good idea to delay your house painting until spring as it won't be long now before the colder weather arrives and I know you have a lot of dampness.

Etta Sue

Tony called last night.  Charlene and he are in Gatlinburg on vacation.  Seems the first night was too hot and he caught a cold/sinus trouble.  He hasn't been very mobile.  Her parents left yesterday from Gatlinburg for Florida so she will probably have him out walking today.  Great weather so far though.

I got the floors mopped yesterday and the bathroom carpet cleaned.  Whew!  Today I need to dust real good.

But first I am going to Noblesville for a bite to eat and to the grocery store to get in needed items for Tuesday.

It got down to 40° last night but my furnace didn't turn on.  It was still two degrees cooler than what the thermostat was set for when I got up.  I am dreading winter and the winter bills.

Partly cloudy and still only 54°.  Cool.

Cool and cloudy here on the island.  Better than yest. tho', as the rain poured down and even Misty didn't want to go outside.

I went on my little train trip and had a lovely time.  It was sort of like stepping back in time, seeing my old friend and her husband.  We had lunch at their home and I was able to meet and spend time with their little dog.  She never goes to people, but came to me and sat on my lap.  My friend was amazed and said that her dog is a good judge of character.  That was nice!

My friend is the same lovely person and also still talks non-stop.  So it was not a problem, as predicted by Larry and Carol.  Their life was not as picture perfect as I had thought, and I learned about many of our old friends and some of those stories were quite sad.

Pat, how nice that you were able to speak to our Prime Minister.  Years ago, Wendy had a chat with P. Trudeau (?) when he was in Edmonton.  Even got a picture.  Now they probably wouldn't allow such a thing....

Time to go.  My body is rather painful at the moment and staying on the computer is not wise.
Pleasant Day/Evening and God Bless,

Liz

CHANGE NOT THY FAITH WITH CHANGING TIMES

Carol

Liz;  What  a peaceful and lovely picture of you.  I just knew you would have lots to chat about - and are you not glad for your own life instead of somebody's life?

Pat:  Why did I not catch the fact that you talked to your P.M.?  And, you gave the very right message.

Al:  Praying for an answer to your leg edema.

Janet:  Praying for Beth - and you too.

What a beautiful day here but I know it is warmer than normal.  We took two walks today and that is good because I went to lunch with about a dozen gals in this area.  Very nice.  I should be working and instead, took a book by Jan Karon out on the deck and sat barefoot in the sun.  Just finished an Instant Message chat with g-daughter and she is so quick - just a pistol, like her mother.  We are so blessed to have three grandchildren - at one point, I felt really dark feelings about not having more grands and had to come to terms with that fact.  It is still something that I have to ignore at times and can't think about what might have been.

Gord Brown

Good evening to all.  Have had a very busy week and it is nice to just have the time to sit and read the post's.  Many of you have also been busy.  My wife and I are doing as much as we can to help our daughter and son-in-law wirh looking after our grandson so that they can save money  and pay it out on babysitting.  It is so exspensive to send them to one. My wife still has not heard anything regarding her appeal with the government to do with her back so please continue to pray for us .

Ruth Ann; I am so glad that your meds are working for you and I have lost some lbs. but not enough. :)

Carol and Don: It sounds like you are getting things done around the house and the colour sonds nice also. ;)

Janet:  Boy are you one very busy lady don't forget to stop once in a while and have a breath. It sounds like you had a wonderful vacation.  Have fun with your family and Mickey Mouse.

Larry:  Well it was so nice to talk to you on the phon tonight and to catch up on much news. I hope that you can get those bolts loose I know that w.d. 40 will work. Look after yourself and Pat.  God Bless. :coffee:

Etta Sue: Hope that you are well and not doing more than you should be. I just love the pictures of all the pussy cats. They are great. :)

Melody: Your weather sounds just like the weather in Scotland lots of rain.  I was always told that Newfoundland was part of Scotland it was a big rock that boke of and just floated over and stayed there.   ;D ;D ;D ;D HA.HA.

Pat: What a priviledge to have had that oppertunity to meet Mr. Harper and to have him say what he did back to you. Praise the Lord for that

Nita:Hope that you are well and that you get all your work finished before it gets to cold :)

Al:  My wife made a turkey pie with all the trimmings and of course the flake topping but the fresh cranberry was wonderful.  EAT YOUR HEART  OUT.

Judy B.  Sounds like all is very busy and you have your hands full.  How is John tell him I say hi. Don't forget to say hi to Heather. <3

Well to all others that I missed may you all have a wonderful weekend and a great day in the Lord house this Sunday.  Good night to all.  Gord and Noreen :)

Gord:  Take care in lifting that baby.  I am sorry that the government is so slow in their answer.  It seems as though there isn't a government around that does anything with haste - except when they get themselves into trouble.

Pat:  Great picture - thanks, we need to know these things as well.  You just might want to set up a news bulletin here of what is happening in Canada because - and this is ridiculous, our news stops at the border.   :(

I had better get going - have to hit the stores early because it is Saturday.  Am looking for fabric for making a quilt for grandson who is heading to be an Eagle Scout.  He is working with disabled children at his school right now on one project and I don't know if that is his only one.

All of a sudden, things are speeding up around here.  Looking forward to tomorrow morning when we sit and contemplate our faith.

Morning Al:  I see you online - Blessings to you today.

Marilyn

Good Morning every one. Not much going on here so far. Got up at 4:30  could not sleep any longer, I guess that happens when one goes to bed at 8 pm.  ;) So I have been sitting here  having 2 cups of coffee and a donut , reading on SN, here and my email.  Fed the dogs, made the bed and got dressed, I will be cleaning the house and brushing Happy again still trying to get all the loose fur off him. This time of year it is a daily brushing for him instead of once per week.

Will be going back to my old church tomorrow, Willa has insisted that I go there. So I will and see if anything has changed.

Bright and sunny in Indiana but cold.  Not sure if the furnace came on last night or not.

Today I want to wash some windows inside and out.  Then I need to get warm clothes on and go mow the leaves!

That will be enough for today!

No, I am not doing too much.  Anyone else with me.  What I used to do in one day, takes all week now!!

Nita

Etta Sue, no sense in getting it done in one day.  What would you do tomorrow? :)

I'll take those blessings, Carol.  And to you as well.

Yes, it's been a very slow week for posts in here and I guess I'm one of the culprits.

But I know that so many, many of our members sit at their computers and read and then don't post!  :(  Come on folks, at least say, "Hi!"

I just received a Prayer Letter from a missionary in Italy.  He used to live in our parent's basement while he went to Bible School.  Mario and Rose Bruno share their news quite regularly.

We have many of his Prayer Letters here on the site but I thought I'd just share it in here for those of you who may not be able to find them in our Missionary area.

The Garlic Press

Hello,

"You're a fool for what you are doing. Why don't you just quit and go home!" Those words and many more a man with a severe limp hurled at me over a year ago. Apparently, he had taken one of my evangelistic flyers the week earlier. He started speaking as soon as he came out of the Metro (subway) station and continued to speak negatively with insulting remarks until he was out of sight. This continued every Wednesday morning. Each time he passed I tried to have him stop long enough to respond but He never would. Last Monday (as only God can arrange) I met him by chance on a street corner and he was not in a hurry. As I suspected he was angry with God because of his inability to walk well. We spoke for almost 30 minutes. His last question to me was: "What is life?" The answer Christ gave seemed to touch his heart: "This is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom [He has] sent," because he then said: "I admire you. I wish I had your faith." We parted shaking hands with my offer to have a coffee together the next time we meet.

Our evangelistic campaign of 3 days went very well. An Italian pastor spoke on the topic: «Why Believe?» What encouraged to me was the 10 new people who came over the weekend were individually invited by the members of the church and came because of a personal relation with them. Though none made any kind of a public profession of faith they all remained after the meetings for the refreshments to ask questions about the message with the speaker and their friends. These meetings are another link in the chain that we pray will lead them to salvation.

I had a similar experience to that of the apostle Paul found in Acts 28:14,15. "And so we came to Rome. The brothers there had heard that we were coming, and they traveled as far as the Forum of Appius and the Three Taverns to meet us. At the sight of these men Paul thanked God and was encouraged". While I was out very early one morning a young man introduced himself as a fellow believer. He was in Rome to seek for a job. He told me of his conversion 3 years earlier and of his home church in Catania, Sicily. He then said: "Here, let me help you give out these evangelistic flyers. My train doesn't leave for half an hour." With that he took a large stack and began to give them out. He told me, as he was leaving, how happy he was that he could do something to help spread the kingdom of God. I thanked the Lord for the encouragement he was to me to keep strong in the Lord.

"The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God's children. Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ...The creation waits in eager expectation for the sons of God to be revealed. For the creation was subjected to frustration, not by its own choice, but by the will of the one who subjected it, in hope that the creation itself will be liberated from its bondage to decay and brought into the glorious freedom of the children of God." Romans 8:16-21. Let me share with you an illustration on this text that came to me while writing my latest flyer. My Italian is excellent but I must have the flyer proofread by an expert in Italian before I publish it. When I sent my copy to the lady who does the correcting I told her that if my flyer could talk it would say something similar to the text I quoted above. It is filled with mistakes and is eagerly waiting for her "perfecting and correcting" touch to make it polished and beautiful. Our hope is one day when the Lord returns He will do just that. We shall be like the Lord Jesus for we shall see Him as He is.

Thank you for your partnership with us in the cause of Christ. May God's grace be upon you.

Mario and Rose.
By awesome deeds You answer us in righteousness, O God of our salvation –Psalm 65:5 (NASB)

Hi...

Yup, I'm one of those who read but seldom post.    :-[  I just can't    don't find much to say, I guess.

I have been a bit concerned with events and circumstances surrounding a family member, and the property of which I am joint owner, in California.  It is pretty difficult to get information or cut through the bureaucratic red tape when I'm here in Oregon and stuff to be seen to is in California.   :-\  Soooo

I am involved in packing and getting ready to drive down to Sacramento tonight/early in the morning to my daughter's house.  She and I will then drive to the Veterans Home in Yountville to take care of some business and then back to Sacramento where I will spend the next few daze sorting through stuff and arranging for a yard sale/give away in preparation for selling the mobile home there.

Joy is moving to South Lake Tahoe the end of this month and I need to do this while I can still stay at her place in Sacramento (for free).   ;)

I've been reading and praying for each request and making mental comments to each of y'all .... you just can't "hear" me so I guess that's not too good after all is it?  hmmmm I'll be back toward the end of next week and (almost) promise to do better in here, okay?

Y'all take care......

Judy did I say I wanted to see if people had changed, I don't think I said or implied that. Sorry. there have been a lot of changes there, They have remodeled the bathrooms, the music may still be too loud or maybe not, but it sure hurt my ears enough that I had to wear earplugs. People have come and some gone. Lots of changes. I did not withdraw my membership there, so I am still on the membership rolls.  I left because I wasn't being fed there. I need to see if that has changed too.

I prefer to be fed from the word of God not someone else's message that has been copied from the web or that I have seen preached on Christian TV by someone else. I hear he is preaching his own sermons now.

I'm really not sure, Pat.  Joy will be home until Wednesday, but she says I can still stay at their house even if they're gone.  I don't know if I'll need to do that this trip.  I just don't have any idea  :-\   I'll probably come back Thursday.

For any and all who might check in here yet this evening:  Please pray for me.  I'm going to try to sleep in my own bed tonight. I've been using the recliner since January because of problems, first problems with the hip, then problems with edema of the lower legs.  But if I continue to use the recliner, I'm quite sure I'll develop pressure sores on my calf areas, and then I'll be in real trouble.  This is the night!

My wife and I were able to get out today after I came home from the mens breakfast.  We have lived now in Welland Ontario Canada for almost three years and we have a lovely farmers market and we had never been there but today we were able to go and it is a great market, there are many local farmers as we are in the fruit growing area also many vegatables.

After that we went and visited a senior citizen from our church who is not in very good shape but today she responded very good.  It was also a beautiful drive as many of the trees are turning into such beautiful colours.

Pat:  Thanks for sharing the Letter from Bruno I remember when he was at your dads and he is still supported by  Willowdale Baptist I think. :)

I'm doing something I never thought I'd do.  I'm watching Saturday Night Live in just a few minutes.  Sarah Palin is going to be on it.   My daughter and I were wondering when it became imperative that candidates stooped to late night talk shows.  They've all been doing it.  I guess maybe it's to get the younger vote?

I only saw part of SNL with  Sarah - still awake much too early this morning.  We must leave at 7:15 to get to the 7:30 service.  I haven't been to this early church in a long time.

Jane:  All the best wishes for everything you must do in California.

Al:  I dearly hope that you are refreshed after last night & slept well plus everything in those lower legs is operating correctly.

Etta Sue:  Isn't it funny how things take so much longer to accomplish?  And, to beat all things, we have to take a nap after doing something so many times  - that is if we sit down in a chair, the nap just happens.   ^-^

I am ready for church.  Ivalou is still in Ohio so this will feel like ol' times...going to church by myself.

I did get my windows washed in and out...the ones that I was planning on doing anyway.  And I got the yard done.  Two more things done on my list of things to do.  Not planning on doing anything this afternoon.  Tomorrow will be the big day with laundry, sweeping and cooking.

Al, hope your night was better than mine.  I kept dreaming about doing something on the computer..something like Webshots and I haven't done anything with Webshots for years!!!  Never figured out what it was but just kept on dreaming about it.  Tossing and turning all night long!

It is cold today.  38.2°.  I had to find shoes instead of sandals to wear today!!!  But it is sunny and bright out still with long shadows but it promising to be a nice day.

I am praying everyone has a day just as the Lord intends and that all of you will rejoice in it.

Yep Carol those naps just happen to me too. I didn't sleep all that well last night, I didn't use my CPAP machine because I have a few rollers in my hair and they make my  head gear way to tight and uncomfortable; so I was up and down a few times   and restless.

Church this morning isn't until 10:30 so I have lots if time to get ready.

This little house is so small that I can do it all in just a couple of house unless I'm deep cleaning. The Oregon house is another story, it is so big that I can't even vacuum it all in once try. I  have to rest in between. I have only vacuumed there once, mostly I stick to the kitchen since I am always in there cooking and I can't stand a messy kitchen. I do two of the bathrooms too if they need it, the small master bath is not used so I don't clean that one just the main master bath and the one in the hallway.

Hi everyone.  I just discovered that I apparently didn't read messages here yesterday so I had alot of postings sto read through.

Yesterday was a busy day.  When I went to start my Hyundai yesterday morning to go to coffee I discovered my battery had failed.  Took the other car and a friend from coffee came back to the house and got the old battery out.  It was quite a task since the clamp holding it is in a very tight space and at the bottom of the battery.  I called an auto parts place and they said they had the battery I needed but went there and another place and neither had it.

We had a meeting to attend yesterday morning so I didn't do anymore on the car until we got back after lunch.  I made several calls and finally located where I could get the replacement.  That took about 45 minutes.  Came home and watched the GA/Vanderbilt football game to conclusion and then went out and put the new battery in the car.  I had bought a socket wrench extension and that really helped in getting the new battery anchored down.

Then I went to work on disassembling the metal shelves.  I did apply the WD-40 and it did the trick and I finally got all the bolts out and the shelves disassembled.  I have a power screwdriver but the battery is old and it would only hold the charge for about 5 minutes.  I will invest in a new one before trying to put these shelves together down at my daughters as there are five shelves.

As Gord indicated we had a wonderful phone conversation the other evening.  It almost seems like we have been friends for many years.

Liz, nice to see that the visit with your friend from your younger days went so well.  I think all families have some less than ideal situations but often we don't talk much about that.

Pat, great photos of your PM.  Also, thanks for sharing the letter from your missionary friends in Italy.

I am too many postings behind to try to comment to you all so will end this for today.  However, Al, do hope you had a good night's sleep in your bed.

Church was good this morning, it was good to back there. Saw lots of old friends there and some new faces too. It was like going home.

OK, Marilyn, here I am.    :)

Marilyn told me that this is the place where folks "hang out" and suggested that I come here.  So, here I am.

I have read several of the posts in this thread, and I can see that there is a lot of Christian love here.  I know I will enjoy the fellowship here, if I don't go compeltely nuts from hitting the "reconnect to the Internet" button every time I need to get a new page to load.

I'll post a link to a little auto-biographical website that I built for the purpose of helping folks get to know me.  It has way more info than most people would care to know about me, so be warned... you may be overcome with boredom.

If you just want the "short version," my name is Tom Johnson, I am 59 years old, I grew up in Hammond, IN, I have been married to the same gal, Georgeann, for 33 years, I have two grown kids and two granddaughters, and I live in western KY.  I was saved by the Grace of God in 1960 as an eleven year old boy.

God bless.

Hi Tom so glad you decided to come over to this forum,

Not much  going on here where I am, quite afternoon here at home as always. Took both dogs for their walk and Happy seems to finally be recovering for whatever  was ailing him and making him hide under the bed all week. Today he was more enthusiastic about going for a walk than he has be all week.

Now I will go to om's link and see what he has there.

Tom, thanks so much for coming to our "Coffee Shop"

We start this topic over every Sunday night and keep it open for a week until the following Sunday.  Etta Sue will be closing it this evening and she's an Indiana lady!  ;)

I was happy too read your link.  I was especially happy to read about Jack Hayles.  He spoke often at the church I grew up in--Jarvis St. Baptist Church in Toronto.

Now that is just TOO COOL!  You have heard the man under whose ministry I was saved, Dr. Jack Hyles, preach!  It truly is a small world.

All during my teen age years, he was quite a regular in Jarvis St.  Dr. Slade was our pastor then and Dr. T. T. Shields before him.  Dr. Shields baptized my brother and I in 1953 and that was the last baptisimal service he had as he took ill right after that and died a couple of years later.  But he was the pastor of Jarvis St. from 1910 to 1955 so that's a good long time!!!  :)

Pat:

My family left Hammond First Baptist when I was about 13 or 14 years old.  We moved our membership to Meadow Lane Baptist Church, which was started by a group of people who split off from First Baptist.  I was just a kid and didn't know the reasons for Mom and Dad's decision to move our membership, or if I did at the time, I have long since forgotten them.  I don't remember having a problem with First Baptist myself.

I guess there was a lot of controversy surrounding Dr. Hyles in the 1970s and 1980s, but I don't know all the details.  I choose to think of him as continuing to be the man of God that I knew him to be in his early years at Hammond FBC.

Yes, we (my late husband and I) had moved from Canada to Northern Ireland and then when we came back we were no longer members of Jarvis St. due to where we resided but I did hear of some of this strife but didn't pay must attention to it.  We were busy bringing up our family then.

But it's interesting to know that the pastor who was instrumental in leading you to the Lord, I heard preach so often.

It's that time again.  Time to move to a clean, tidy new place to post this coming week.  You can find it here!!
