JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

I would love to be able to see a Chiropractor here in Oregon. However  here they all charge an initial fee of $150 before they will bill Medicare and I can't afford that fee. I have really missed having adjustments.

I got my new CPAP machine today, it is totally programmable and the tubing is even  temperature controlled, I can set the  temperature that I want it to be.  http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/dd222/tudogmom/Machine.jpg,  I am looking forward to  using it tonight. It has been over cast here  all day and the fog/mist  sure got me and the dogs  wet when we took our walk.

Since this is Friday we will either have supper out or take out. We do this every Friday I wonder what Keith is going to have us eat tonight. It is pretty much a surprise every week although we do discuss it before we go so we are both in agreement. However he does surprise me every now and then, and takes me out to eat either Chinese or Mexican instead of  take out. We usually have Little Caesars Hot and Ready Pizza, or Subway, or Safeway Deli Chinese.

Jeanne - The adjustment seemed to help, so of course I figured I was in the clear.  I wasn't.  It's hurting again.  The chiro is completely booked for the rest of the day.  They suggested I go to my primary care doc to see what they can do, if anything.  So I tried that route. Turns out that Dr. is out 'til Monday.  I'm waiting for the nurse there to call me back.  Please pray.  I don't know any other route except ER if they can't do something.  I could, possibly, try walking around to see if I can exercise it out of me - that is a slight possibility, but that worries me too, 'cause it could make it even worse.  As I said, please pray.

Hi everyone.  Thought I would pop back by and catch up on the day.  My day went well and everything got done as I had planned.  I really enjoyed the luncheon with other retired men from the church.  We meet about every 2nd Friday.  We ate at Wild Wings today but no one had wings as they have many other delicious things.  I had a delightful chef salad that included some shrimp and an a boiled egg.  I had tried it before so knew it was very good.  Everyone liked it and wanted to go back before long.  Earlier this evening I spoke with my son and DIL for over an hour and we had a great talk.  We are planning on meeting them in two weeks to celebrate his birthday.

Al, so sorry to read your last posting indicating the chiropractor hadn't helped as you had hoped.  Hope you find something to give you some relief.

Marilyn, I was interested in seeing the new CPAP machine you will be using starting today.  They sure have changed them from the one that Pat had quite a few years ago now.  Hope you enjoyed your night out and then a great night's sleep.  Since you are used to using a CPAP machine you probably won't have that learning curve of getting used to sleeping with it.

Jeanne, we see only slight evidence of color in the trees here but the nights are definitely much cooler.  It was a beautiful day here today.

Etta Sue, am curious as to the reasoning that suggests using your furnace only every 5th night.  Hope you had a most enjoyable photo guild meeting tonight.

Janet, am looking forward to your next posting to find out what is in that "chapter".

The best laid plans of mice and men......I wound up falling asleep, which was no surprise as I had only about two hours' sleep last night.  They got the carpet laid in the bedroom but didn't get our bed put back together nor any of the other furniture in there.  So we slept upstairs, where we could hear the wind howling, and the air was dusty and I sneezed and sneezed.  Just couldn't sleep well at all, finally got up at 4:30, went to work at 6:30 to help out for a couple of hours.  Then a chiropractic appointment, then Pat did my hair......

Anyway, when I got home, Darrel had vacuumed the new carpet but was unhappy with the way it looked.  There was a strange looking spot, he said, "What is that, anyway?"  I looked at it and told him, "It's a HOLE!"  It is about the size of a man's thumb, out about four and a half feet from the wall.  There is another place that looks like a poorly done seam, but isn't a seam.   >:(  The guy came back from Hugoton, looked at it and was a shocked as we were.  He did raise the sliding shades on (over) the glass door, as they were dragging on the carpet.  They had to raise them twice, leaving 24 screw holes in the wall.  I asked him if he wasn't going to put spackling in those, and he said he could go get a can.  Then he asked me for the paint used on that wall and touched it up after filling the holes.  He had broken one tile on the bathroom floor, so had to get that out, lay another tile, and will have to make another trip to grout that little bit.

We called about the defects in the carpet and were told that their sales rep would be here in two to three WEEKS to look at it.  They said go ahead and put the furniture back, and if they have to move it, they can move it.  So we may get another new carpet, as they don't know that those defects can be corrected in such a way as they should be, to look right.  Boy, this just goes on and on!  Sigh...

I cleaned the living room, everything gets so dusty in just one day.  Lon and Dallas came back out to move the furniture for us, so at least we can sleep in our own room and bed tonight.

I am supposed to go to my painting meeting tomorrow, must call my buddy and ask.  I should stay here and sort stuff, but it is so discouraging, trying to find stuff!

That's my story, and I'm sticking to it!

My!  That was quite a little flurry of posts!  All while I was typing.  :)  Good to read all your posts!

We had a real "frog strangler" of a rain, just for a few minutes.  Should clear the dust from the airand that will help with breathing problems for lots of people.

I must call Winona, if I am to ride with her tomorrow.  She is teaching the project tomorrow and I would like to know what it is.

My sister who lives in town just called to ask if we had any hail (no).  She said she got golf ball sized hair, which knocked holes in her siding on the house.  She just got a new roof finished today, so is hoping it didn't ruin that as well.

Later!

Al, again time has passed since your last post and I'm praying our Lord has touched you with His healing.

Janet, you must be ready to scream!  :yikes: Unbelievable that the installers would leave the carpet in that condition.

Marilyn, you sound pleased with your new cpap machine.  Do let us know tomorrow how you make out with it tonight.

Jeanne, I am trying really hard to stay calm and act like a child of God should.  Is this a test??

Jeanne - I called and talked to a nurse at the clinic where our Pri. Care is, and she said it would be ok to go ahead and see if I could "walk it off," but to quit if it hurt much.  So we did, and it didn't hurt that much, may have even walked a little of it off.  Thanks be to God for that!  So here we go through another night, during which I will have to get up and go down the hallway several times.  That's the big test.  But our Lord is indeed Lord, and His mercies are everlasting.

Oh my, so many are having back pain.
Al, you may have to have an MRI done to find out the cause of your pain.  I had to have that done about two years ago, and learned much.  No wonder there is so much pain.  Dr told me that I had severe scoliosis (spine is curved twice and also is twisted). He said that alone causes degeneration much faster. Also I have a misalignment in L4 or 5, forgot which.  It is similar to stairsteps he said, one vertebra is not stacked on the one below, but is set back away from it some.  Also something about "stenosis" .

I had a couple of injections that helped only briefly.  I knew I had arthritis in my spine for several years, but not to the extent that it is now.  He told me that none of these things can be fixed, so I just have to live with it.  I have to use a 4 wheeled walker because I cannot hold my back upright.  I am a little more than 3 inches shorter than I used to be.

I will pray for you too, that you can get relief.  I know what it is like, and how desperate you can feel.  God bless you, and Marilyn, Etta Sue and others who suffer back pain.
This is the day the Lord has made, we will rejoice and be glad in it.   Ps 118:24

Hi everyone.  Already been a very busy morning.  I got a little earlier and was at Walmart by 6:40.  It is a great time to go as very few people and no waiting line.  Just got back from McDonald's and have a meeting to attend in a few minutes.  Then the rest of the day is mine to watch football, read and rest or do whatever I want to do.  Don't think anything else is on the schedule.

Janet, you all sure didn't need to run into these type of problems.  If looks like your workmen aren't paying a lot of attention to what they are doing.   Nice to hear you had rain.  Glad you didn't get the hail.  Just remember that "this too shall pass" as it will eventually all get done.

Al, hope you were able to get some rest last night.

Janice, sounds like you do indeed have more than your share of back problems.  Glad you can still get around even with a walker.  I also have shrunk about 3 inches in height but have no back problems.

Marilyn

Janet when I read about  you new carpet last night I was in shock that  the carpet layers did say something right away and try to get it replaced themselves.

Jeanne I slept so good last night, I did have to adjust the  humidity up to 80% because I was getting dry mouth. I am very happy with my new machine.

Janice i am sorry to hear about your back problems and am praying for you as I type this.

Al I hope you are pain free this morning, I remembered this morning that I have some Voltaren Gel (pain med) That I could have had Keith rub on my back.

Janice, I didn't realize you have such problems with you back.  I'm praying for the easing of your pain.

Al, I hope you're able to walk out some of your pain.  That would certainly be the least expensive way to treat it!

Marilyn, what wonderful news that your new machine is living up to its promises.

Janet, I'm praying for solutions to your ongoing problems, and for your strength and peace as you tackle them.

My, you guys are chatty-Cathy's!  I love it!  Janet, your house problems sounds like a repeat of mine when I was getting this house fixed up before moving in.  I feel for you!

The reason I run my furnace every 5th night is when my mother was in the hospital, the following winter I was living in this house.  The furnace while Mom was gone was set at 50 degrees.  That caused condensation in the flue.  Then when I moved in, I set it at 70 degrees...higher flame and caused all that crap and crude in the flue to fall down on the burner.  That caused carbon de-oxide.  Or something like that.  Anyway, I smelled gas when I went into the utility room all day and called the furnace man on Saturday and the coldest day of the year.  I left a message.  Jerry, the Gabby one, was in and out of the basement all day putting in phone lines to put in phone jacks throughout the house so he was used to the smell and didn't smell it.  I must have gotten used to it too and was about to call the furnace man to not come.  But the doorbell rang, the furnace man stepped into the house and literally pushed me out of the way, ran to the basement and yelled, 'Shut this off now!'  I turned down the thermostat and looked in the basement.  Fire was shooting out of the furnace two feet.  He told us later that if he had been 15 minutes later the furnace would have exploded OR the house would have caught on fire!

So I have the furnace cleaned every year!  Got that done Friday!  But gas is so expensive to heat this little house.  At least $8 a day in the winter.  But the heat pump only raises the bill about $15 a month.  SO....I use the heat pump four days and nights, then the furnace fifth night (to keep condensation from building up) and thus, I save money!  And I am very comfortable in my house!

Whew!

Again, I am very fortunate with my back problems only being when I stand for very long...meaning still for 10 minutes.  Then my back starts aching.  I can lean and it seems to lessen but sitting, it stops hurting.  And in the bed, I am not bothered any.  So I try not to stand for very long.  Walmart seems to always have a line when checking out.  I can put one foot on the bar at the bottom of the cart and that relieves the pain.  But the water therapy is great!!

I am crocheting up a storm in getting ready for my crochet class at church.  We are calling ourselves 'Crochet Angels' since eventually we want to make projects to donate to a place in Noblesville that houses abuse women and their children.  I have made a neck warmer, a hat and a scarf.  I want to start mittens today.  Then another scarf...hopefully to be done by Wednesday evening.

I ordered a long-reach stapler online...to staple in the middle of the pages to make a book.  I checked the tracking this morning and its to be delivered Thursday.  I forgot Monday is a holiday...Columbus Day.  But I will have everyone to bring their little booklet back to get stapled the next week.

And Photo Guild isn't until Monday night.  I have submitted my photos and the Candy Crackers just came out of the oven.  My house smells soooo good right now!!  Tomorrow I will make Caramel Corn.  Then I am ready for guild.

Colors are really getting bright in Indiana.  I am sitting at my front window and my huge maple tree in the front yard is almost all orange!!  Just a few leaves are still green.  The ground is getting covered with leaves also.  Across the bean field the trees are gold, dark red, yellow, brown and green.  Beautiful!  And its a beautiful day today with the temps to get into the 80's again!

Janet

The carpet installer didn't see the hole, and was as shocked as we were about it.  The fibers had turned in and covered it until Darrel ran the vacuum.  And he didn't see the flaw which looks like a seam, either, he said.  Sigh......  Well, I guess the longer we wait, the longet it will be new, huh?

The cabinets Lon built and installed in our bathroom are really beautiful, though.  He is dyslexic and ambidextrous, both of which work to his advantage in cabinet making!  :)

I am so blessed to not have back problems.  I had to have a back test when I started working at the care home, and the guy said I have the strongest back he ever saw in a woman my age.  I commented that I have never had back problems, and he said, "And you're not about to, either!"  Praise God.  But I do feel for those of you who suffer with back pain, I know it is terrible, and I pray each of you will find relief from this terrible problem.

I went and painted today, but have nothing to show for it.  My friend Winona gave my painting to our friend Linda who rode with us, when she got out of the car!  She was so apologetic, but I said, "Don't worry about it.  I know it will come back, and in the meantime, I don't have to find a place to put it!"  I didn't take Linda's, either.  :)

I am really sleepy, and I want to finish the book I am reading.  Wonder if I will make it through two pages before I fall asleep?  ???

Ruth Ann Bice

Hi, friends, I'm back. It's been pretty busy the last couple of days. So, now, it's 11:05 pm, and I'm still awake waiting for my sister-in-law to call. She talked over and hour and a half last night, and ended up putting me to sleep! <whew>

So, maybe tonight she will keep it shorter. :)

Days are gorgeous here in Nashville, and my brother was in Gatlinburg in the Smoky Mountains during this week, and he estimated that the tree color there will be perfect in about 4-5 days. Sigh...wish I were there to see that.

Y'all have a most wonderful evening with our Lord and arise feeling well enough to be at your favorite spot for Sunday worship tomorrow.

Love to everyone,
Ruth Ann
