Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Good afternoon!  It's another busy day for me.  I was behind when I woke up, as I like to get up around 4:30 so I have unhurried prayer and bib le reading time, but I had gone to a concert in Garden City last night (on the Senior bus) and we didn't get home until after eleven, consequently, I woke up at 7:45 this morning!  So I did not go to the gym, and have been hustling ever since.

I want to take the elements and go have communion with Beth.  I have been reading about the value in taking communion when praying for healing.  I pray I am hearing from the Lord on this.

It sounds as if everyone is busy as usual.  Glad to hear Larry is feeling better!  And that Ruth Ann is almost done working on her sil's apartment (and I do hope she appreciates all your hard work, Ruth Ann!)  Carol, you and Don always manage to have projects going, don't you?  You probably wouldn't know how to live any other way!  :)

A good friend's son and DIL are in Nepal, stuck on a mountain by the flooding and avalanches.  But they are so thrilled to have heard from them at 6 AM today and know they are safe.  They have had a very tense few days waiting to hear from them!

And----drum roll------you can all feel safe now!  Obama has appointed an Ebola Czar!!      :idiot:   :uglystupid: :uglystupid:

Today will be Happy's last day. tomorrow at 9:30 I will be taking him to be put to sleep and send him off to Rainbow Bridge with lots of love and kisses. Today I am preparing his last meal of Chicken Breast, Filet Mignon, I already gave him a nice piece of cake at lunch time.So I am spending today with my wonderful dog, he is 16.5 yrs old and the Vet said he is his oldest patient. He can no longer walk more than a few steps at a time.

Marilyn, Happy has given you many moments of loving attention, and many miles of nice walks.  May he enjoy today and then rest in peace. And, may you be comforted by all the good memories of times with him.

Janet, I don't even think of keeping a schedule like yours.  Wow! Such energy.

Love to all,
Ruth Ann

Marlyn, I'm so sorry to read that Happy's life with you must end.  You have certainly made Happy happy over the years with the love and care you have given him.   :'(

Hi everyone on another beautiful Georgia morning.  Other than coffee at McDonald's and a quick trip to the Post Office I have no other plans for today.  Of course, I will watch the Georgia/Arkansas game starting at 4 pm this afternoon.  Pat is going to meet a lady that will do the quilting on the two identical tops that she has made.

Marilyn, so sorry to hear you are losing your Happy as know of your caring for him so much.  I hope you can find comfort in knowing you have given him good care over these years.

I just watched this little video called "Whispers" and wanted to share it today.  http://www.youtube.com/embed/zf_0jzPQ8lo?rel=0

Marilyn, sorry to hear that Happy is going over the Rainbow Bridge, but you will always know you gave him a good life and did the loving and responsible thing for him in the end.

We went out for a tour of our new power plant, Rubart Station, this morning.  It is a really big deal for our county and area.  They have 12 huge Caterpillar engines made in Germany; the ONLY 12 in the world, specially made for this project.  The name is to honor a local fellow who was a long-time member of our Electric Company Board, Perry Rubart.  It was quite an interesting and educational tour.  The engines are gas powered, and generate a LOT of electricity.

I spent two hours looking for pictures of cardinals!  Need to paint cardinals on a binocular case for a painting friend.  :-\  Finally found a few, not really what I wanted, but will have to do.

We went to Dodge City to the play last night.  They did The Diary of Anne Frank, and my! what a great job they did!  And they also had a traveling exhibit of things from the Anne Frank home, so that was a special treat.  I didn't have enough time to look at all of it, which made me sad.

I need to get in there and at least get those cardinals base coated!

Hi, friends,

It's been a filled with not very good drama.  I strongly dislike when someone puts me in the midst of an issue that does not involve me. At any rate, other than the extreme distaste I feel for the situation, I'll be trusting the Lord for a good conclusion to the day.

May our Lord bless each of us as He sees we need blessing today.

Sorry to hear this Marilyn.  I understand how you must be feeling.

Hi everyone on a cool 45 degree morning here in Georgia.  We had to turn our furnace on for a short time to take the chill off.  This is going to be a busy day as have church this morning followed by a reception for our retired Church Administrator, who has been with the church for 26 years.  We will come home and have a quick lunch so I can rest a bit.  Then between 3 and 5 this afternoon, Ellen who is the lobby lady at McDonald's and who treats us so well has organized a get together for the men to bring their wives so they can meet each other.  This includes the Friday Senior Center coffee group.  Ellen is one of a kind and remember birthdays and will have us all sing get well cards if one of the group is sick.  She is a jewel and her husband has become a part of our group since he retired a year or so ago.

Janet, your tour sounds interesting as well as the fact that the engines were made for your specific project.  I wonder what is special about them?

Ruth Ann, just remember that you choices and we can always say no.   I hope the situation works out well.

Marilyn, touching photos.

Janet

Larry, I am copying the following from the brochure they handed me at the tour of the Rubart Station:

(Under a photo of the engine hall)  A look inside...12 of these 20-cylinder units are employed at Rubart Station.  The facility is the first in the world to use Caterpillar's medium-speed G20CM34, natural gas gen-sets, which are manufactured in Germany.

They are really proud of this new 130 million dollar plant!  The brochure also says this:  Complementing Mid-Kansas' existing generation fleet, Rubart Station will help meet the growing demand for electricity while providing Mid-Kansas' members with reliable electricity for many generations.  These fast-start capable internal combustion units allow for quick response to market conditions--which is particularly important in the integrated market, and growing integration of wind on our system.  Rubart Station also brings much needed voltage support to the region.

In a list of fun facts is this:  Each combined module, engine, and generator set weighs approximately 200 tons, equivalent to the total weight of all the players in the NFL.   :)

He said "You gear-heads will enjoy this" when speaking of the huge engines.  Not being a gear-head, I understood very little of what he talked about!  :-[

I am missing my Hugoton kids.  If we don't get to see them this week, I am going to skip church here and go to their church next Sunday!  It just isn't right to live 30 miles apart and not get to spend more time together than we do!

Larry, the lady at McDonald's sounds like a real jewel!  Glad she makes you fellows' lives more pleasant.

Ruth Ann, sorry about your inadvertent involvement in an unpleasant situation.  I dislike that kind of thing, as well.

Well!  Our K-State Wildcats beat the OU guys yesterday!  How about that?  (I didn't watch it, but Darrel did.)  :)

Marilyn, I could not view your photos.

Hi, friends,

I suppose I was so worn down yesterday, that today, the alarm went off, but I didn't. I awakened at noon. So, I really must have needed that sleep.

It's been a quiet afternoon, and now I'm waiting to hear from one of my sons.

Tomorrow will be devoted to working on sister in law's apartment and then dinner with my daughter to celebrate her birthday. It's so nice to be able to spend some time with her, because she's often called upon to work 5 12-hour days, thus keeping her exhausted. She really loves her patients, and is, in turn, well thought of by both patients and staff.

Y'all have a good remainder of the day.
