Janet: Hello, Friends!  Let's get this going again!  I miss  hearing from all of you! 2025-01-23, 19:26:16

Don: Hey Judy, It's been a long time. Hope you are doing well. 2024-12-02, 22:41:41

JennyW: Hello Everyone! Just checking in to see if anyone wants to get this group going again! Hope all is well where ever you live! 2024-08-14, 08:21:59

Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

I can't imagine that strong a reaction from a young girl just because something was PINK!! :o  Sounds as if this one is either very spoiled or has some mental problems.  Poor kid.  Don't let it discourage you, Etta Sue.

Etta Sue Please would you email me that pattern for the 3 fingers mittens.

Jeanne I wonder if i could learn to knit them too.

Janet I agree with yo.  My Grandson Forest  (Gilbert's boy) who is 11 Knitted a beautiful hat last year  after I showed him how to do a double cast on and the knit stitch. He also had instruction from his teacher at school. The hat is made with very soft fuzzy yarn. He knitted that hat in only 2 nights. there is  no way I can knit that fast.

Learning to crochet at about age 8 was such a wonderful experience for me. My Alabama grandma taught me, and she was so witty and so loving, that it was relatively easy to do.

My other grandma (Mother's mom) taught me embroidery.

What precious memories!

It's been such a busy week - today I played and sang for the Golden Agers at Salvation Army. And, now am psyching myself up to arise at 5:30 a.m. for an all day meeting at the church across the street that begins with registration and continental breakfast at 7:00 - more than 600 are registered, and there aren't that many parking places, so this ole handicapped lady has to get there early enough to at least get onto the lot, and hopefully in one of the handicapped spaces.

This week has been one of many thanksgivings in my life. And, this afternoon, I downloaded a copy of the KJV Bible to my cell phone, and promptly arranged to do the read the Bible in a year program. :) What blessings these new contraptions provide.

Janet, if you have Skype, either Larry or I would be able to speak with you "face to face" about your questions, and even we could see your screen to give some specific instructions. I've used this option with more than one of our CP members with success, so try it - you might LIKE it! :)   www.skype.com will get your there, and then all you do is choose a user name and set up a password. My user name is Grandma.rab, so let us help you this way, too.

By the way, it's supposed to go below freezing here tonight. Brrrrrrr!!!

Much love to everyone.

:)  Good late evening to all at C.P.    Well since I was last on this site again it has been very busy with family and others coming to the Brown B AND B and we have had a few from out of town.  But it makes things very interesting.

My grand kids both started junior kinder garden  and like it a lot.  Our weather has been rain rain for the last two days and very heavy.  We were able the other day to go and get our flu shots so that's an other thing done for this year.

Etta Sue and Ivalou.  That is such a good story about the gas station one way to get a free coffee. and it sounds like you are as busy as ever.

Janet:  Have you finished the house yet I hope so.  I see you are talking about the book have you any idea when  we will be able to get copies.

Ruth Ann Bice:  Do you ever get fed up going to doctors it seems now that it never stops.  Hope that you are feeling good.

Larry:  I must have missed some posts so I hope that your son will be O.K. as I know some people that have had the same problem and it is very painful.  How is your wife and daughter doing? Look after yourself and don't overdo it.

Jaenne Lee.:Hi to you.  You know I am glad that I don't have that problem with hair because I don't have very much left.  Ha Ha.

Ruth V.  Well well its been a long time but how are you all doing up there I do hope well.  It sounds like you are very busy and thanks for sharing the pictures.  Say hi to Everet and the kids if they remember  Noreen and I. and if you are talking to Judy B. say hi and give her a big hug from her little brother.  Gods richest blessings.

Al:  Glad to see your posting as I seem to go to long between posts. :coffee:

I had the privilege of a friend came up to our place on Monday from Maryland  U.S.A. and we had a great time and I met this man on a cruise that my sister-in-law took me on about 5 years ago and we have kept in touch .  his wife had M.S. and also had had cancer but it was in remission but it came back like dambusters and she got very sick fast and did pass away.  But the funny thing is that this man which I did not know had been on C.P. under  an other name so if you all remember PAPPA SMURF this is who it is and it is such a small world.  His proper name Is Mr. Earl Kauffman  and could you please remember his Daughter-in-law as she is pregnant and due in Feb 2012 but the other day she was rear ended in her so please pray for her.  Then as Earl was on his way to the Border to go home his car engine quit and would not start so he had to stay an extra as the car was finished it blue a rod through the bottom of the engine so it was a lot of excitement for him and us just trying to get him back home to Maryland.

Well I must go for now May the Lord richly be with you all and have a wonderful weekend.  Gordon and Noreen. :) :cp: :nanadance:

Marilyn, if you haven't looked at your email lately, do.  Your Thumb and Forefinger Mitten pattern should be there.

Ruth Ann, it certainly is a blessing to have the Bible on your phone.  Now, look at it.  Does it have a little speaker anywhere on the screen?  If it does, it is sound as well.  Click on that speaker and you can hear the words!  I am reading the Bible in a year on my phone.  What a blessing to read and hear the words.  Keeps your mind from wandering and then wondering what you just read.  On my phone the sound only starts at the beginning of a chapter but that is a minor drawback.  The positives out weigh the negatives, for sure.  My phone has sound for KJV and I am praying that your KJV has sound also.

While playing Euchre we found out another lady has water therapy.  So I called her and her session is at 10:30am today.  I asked her if we got there at 10, would that be too long for her to wait?  No, since she said it will take her a long time to change clothes.  So in a few minutes, I will go to Ivalou's, drive her car and we will go get Janet and head to the rehab.  I told Janet that we usually eat somewhere afterwards so be thinking of where she would like to eat.

My bed was warm and cozy last night.  Slept wonderfully!

Today it is bright and sunny.  Looks really nice to see the sunshine after a few days of drizzly rain!  It's only 44° but with the sunshine, I am certain it will get higher.  The weatherman said we are to get into the 70's again soon!

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  We had a very cool night here in Georgia and frost was predicted including the Atlanta area.  I see no evidence of it on the yard this morning but sure the mountains and higher elevations must have had some last night.  Our son is still in the hospital as was in a lot of pain and still passing blood.  We spoke with him last night and he hopes he will be able to go home today.  Our daughter got her new power chair delivered yesterday.  I was able to stay home all day yesterday, which was enjoyable.  Today only have the coffee at the senior center and then  the ROMEO's men's luncheon at Red Robin.

Janet, the tea sounds nice.  I know we seldom use our nice Lenox china and the crystal we have.  It is just too much trouble to get it out of the china cabinet and then get it back inside.  Pat isn't doing the big holiday dinners anymore and that has something to do with it.

Gord, my wife is feeling better than she did for several weeks and my daughter is doing OK at the moment.  Hopefully our son will enjoy a time of good health after getting this kidney stone problem behind him.  Your friend from Maryland sure had a bad time trying to get home.

Etta Sue, must be unusual for a young girl not to like pink.

Ruth Ann, good idea about using the Skype if you have a portable type webcam to use.  It sounds like you have a very busy day today. with your church meeting.

Thanks for asking, Gord---no, the house isn't done yet, and I am thinking it's going to be close to Christmas when it is finished, at the rate it's going!  And I don't know yet when my book will be released, but you friends here will be among the first to know, when I find out!  It's exciting, frustrating, and painfully slow.... :-\

Etta Sue, I love that pink Cheshire cat!  Have a good water session and enjoy your lunch!

Etta Sue I got the pattern and I thank you tremendously for sending it to me. Currently I am making a Shrug for myself and also have a dishcloth on my knitting needles that is almost finished.

Excuse me whilst I vent a bit.

My DIL has been involved in some of the "Occupy" events in Eureka, and Arcata and also on the HSU campus. She has done some of the organizing etc. I do not want to offend anyone of the left persuasion but I think the occupiers should do some research, and have more consideration for the people who live around the area where they are camping out, defecating and urinating in the streets and on police car and doing other abominable  acts. I really feel like all this "Occupation" is a bunch of bologna from the far left, Obama supports it and yet Wall street is one of his biggest contributors, if that isn't hypocrisy I don't  know what is. My DIL says she is a socialist, I don't understand how Gilbert as well can be so far out to the left, He certainly wasn't raised that way, I know her parents are  very left and I don't understand that either,. How can any Christian  be a Democrat?  Done with my rant thank you for bearing with me.

Well, it's what I always called "Indian Summer" here - warm, sunny weathers almost every day.  One of these ddays it'll be cloudy, then some rain, then it'lll gradually cool  down into november, voila - winter! In the meantime, though, lots of sunshine in the sunshine state.  We go almost daily over to Starbucks and get an iced green tea.  It's refreshin'!

Carol

Paul:  Surprise ---- it is your birthday.

Carol

Al:  How nice to see you and know that you are enjoying some great weather.

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  After a chilly morning, with some frost showing in places, we had a beautiful day and I think another is on tap for today.  I didn't do much yesterday but go to my ROMEO's luncheon.  We had a nice time with eight men in attendance but I didn't have a very good hamburger for lunch and should have sent it back as it was cool when it was served.  Today should be pretty light with just a meeting to attend this morning and then will rest and watch football this afternoon and nothing scheduled for this evening.  Our son was released from the hospital yesterday afternoon so is on his way to recovery during the next few days.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY PAUL (a day late).

Marilyn,  have to say I agree with most of what you have ranted about with the exception that I wouldn't want to say that no democrat could be a Christian.  Unfortunately, it appears a lot of young people and some others who are frustrated with our economy and lack of jobs are demonstrating and often really don't know what they really want.  If you have any knowledge of history you know that a socialist society always has a ruling and often brutal leadership and the societies just are not sustainable.

Etta Sue

PAUL!!

I know that coffee is usually a morning thing but since I was up late last night and up late this morning, I am now having my second cup of java!

The three of us in the pool was lots of fun.  There were a lot of people in the pool...almost like a class.  But we managed to be out of each others way.  Like Ivalou said...she was getting her neck exercises by looking this way and that way to see if she was running into someone.

Afterwards we went to Pizza Hut where we each could pick from the buffet.  We will probably do it again next Friday since Janet has pool therapy on Friday's.

Then we went to CVS in Lapel.  I got a flu shot and Janet got her prescription.  Janet had thyroid cancer and the tumor was removed last year.  Then this year she fell on her bicycle twice.  The second time she broke her hip so she had hip surgery...the reason for rehab.  And she is a year younger than me.  Her and her husband are also neighbors of Kaye Don and Barb in Florida.

When I got home, I watched TV and crocheted.  As I said I was up late but I did finish a pair of Thumb and Forefinger Mittens.  As crocheters and knitters know the first 2-3 rounds/rows are the hardest and these mittens have three of those beginning areas.  And you certainly want the two mittens to be the same...not one bigger than the other!

Today it was very cold when I did get up but sunny.  It is finally in the 40's.  My Droid said a Frost Advisory but I wasn't up that early!!  I think this afternoon I will finish a book and start another hat.  A woman at Crochet Angels bought some yarn that she really likes but knows she would never get it done up so she gave it to me to make a hat, scarf and mittens.  So I want to start it.  It is variegated yarn and sometimes that makes very pretty patterns.

Well, we are making some headway today toward putting things back where they belong.  We are weeding out a lot as we go.  Strange, how it takes one day to take everything out of several rooms, and then it takes three months to get it sorted out and put back away.  I just hope we can find everything, as lots of stuff gets new homes in the process.

It's gorgeous weather here today!

Back to work now!  I have had a little break and a sandwich and glass of chocolate milk!  :thumbsup2:

Ruth Ann Bice

Well, that cheese and tomato sandwich got me going again. :)

Now, let's see.

First, Paul you and my daughter share birthdays. That will help me remember yours. She was 39 yesterday. I'll get to be with her and hubby tomorrow - looking forward to that.

Gord, sometimes I do get tired of going to doctors, but then, to have lived to be my age and to be able to see and be with my children, grands, and great grands is such a blessing.  Without skilled physicians, it would never have happened. So, I'm very thankful for their services, also.

Marilyn and Etta Sue, you're gonna get me back to crocheting yet! ;)

Much love to everyone else. My God richly bless you and your family this evening.

What a lazy day yesterday!  I watched TV and crocheted.  Watched more TV and crocheted more.  I started on a hat.  I finished the hat and started on a scarf.

And did something that I hadn't done before since living out here in the country.  Off and on all afternoon and evening, I kept thinking of a hamburger!  Then it was a Big Mac.  Finally I gave in.  I changed clothes and went to a new McD that Droid said was 6.5 miles away.  Well, it was closer to 7.9 miles but I got my Big Mac.  And what a crowded place McD was at 7pm!  Lots of little kids dictating where they want to eat!

Then more TV and crocheting when I got home.  I went to bed close to 11pm and finished a book.  Then I shut off the light and tossed and turned.  I saw 3 something on the clock.  A 'J' night.  Then the alarm at 7:30am.

I feel a nap coming on this afternoon!!

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  A beautiful morning, not so cool, following a beautiful fall day here yesterday.  We are going to church this morning but since the bells are playing the choir will only lead in congregational singing and at the end of the service and not sing an anthem today.  So we don't have to be there as early.  I am sure we will eat lunch out and then enjoy a quiet afternoon and evening.  I did talk with our son yesterday and he sounded much better than the day before and said he was basically without pain except when getting up or down from a chair or the bed.  The drain will be removed tomorrow but probably a good thing he was sent home with it as three more kidney stones appeared, making about a dozen in total.

Etta Sue, sounds like a very full day for you yesterday but that you had a good time and enjoyed each moment.  There are certain times you don't want to be at a particular place to eat.  McDonald's is interesting because sometimes when we go they are very busy and other mornings they are not.  However, our McDonald's seems to have cars in the drive-thru all the time we are there and whenever I go by.

Janet, nice to see you are making progress on getting things back in order.

Ruth Ann, I agree with you in gratefulness for my doctors and, even though it is expensive, the medicines that have been developed to keep angina under control.

Marilyn

I had a relaxing day yesterday too. I created a few new birthday cards, crocheted a bit , knitted a bit and spent 4 hours watching the  University of Oregon Duck beat the Colorado Buffaloes 45-2. I did get out and walk the dogs as I do every day.

We had some excitement last night. Sirens woke us up then we could hear loud engines running right outside. We got up and there were 4 big fire engines and two rescue squad SUV's park right in front of our house.  They were across the street, we walked over there as those neighbors are friends of ours. They told us that the husband got up to let the cat out and the house was filling with smoke, so they leashed the dog called 911 and went outside. It turns out that the refrigerate was smoking, and it smelled like burning wires.  When they could go back inside we left. So we don't  know anymore about it.

It's a beautiful day here with the temp at 52°

We are having a good problem at church--running out of space!  Attendance has more than doubled in the five months since Kris came to be our pastor.  They got a set=up that allows people to watch the service from the fellowship hall, and that room was too small way back when it was built!  Anyway, remodeling is in progress, hoping to ease the problem and give us more time to build a new facility.  We purchased land several years ago to build a new church, so we are hoping to make that happen before too long.  If it becomes even more crowded, then we will have to go to 2 services on Sunday mornings.

Larry, glad you son is feeling better, and you, too!

I am sleepy.  I did get a good night's sleep, but just overdid it yesterday, so plan to rest some today.  At least I didn't hurt every time I moved this morning, the way I  did last night.  Thank you, God!

My eyelids are getting heavy....zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
