Janet: Hello, Friends!  Let's get this going again!  I miss  hearing from all of you! 2025-01-23, 19:26:16

Don: Hey Judy, It's been a long time. Hope you are doing well. 2024-12-02, 22:41:41

JennyW: Hello Everyone! Just checking in to see if anyone wants to get this group going again! Hope all is well where ever you live! 2024-08-14, 08:21:59

Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Oldiesmann: So sorry for your loss Carol. Praying for you and your family :( 2022-05-01, 17:13:05

Carol: My husband Don is with the angels.....Our family was able to hold  ourselves together for the last moments.  Juar rhoufhr you might want to know. 2022-04-29, 23:35:15

Morning Devotional...

A LITTLE ADVERSITY

Scripture: Job 36:15
"But by means of their suffering, he rescues those who suffer. For he gets their attention through adversity." NLT

Have you ever noticed how some Christians can just not be stopped? They have accomplished much despite adversity. They refuse to be controlled by their circumstances. They look fear in the eye and come out rejoicing. Nothing --- their circumstances, lack of funds or pain holds them back from doing God's will.

Read on and see what God can do with A Little Adversity!

Banish a murderer for life --- you have a Moses
Riddled with fear and running away --- you have a Jonah
Penniless and living in the wilderness --- you have a John the Baptist
Filled with doubt, fear and cowardice --- you have a Peter
A thorn in his flesh and lock him in prison --- you have a Paul
Raised in poverty by candle light --- you have an Abraham Lincoln
Born black subject to racial discrimination --- you have a Martin Luther King Jr.
Put him in prison for a crime --- you have a Chuck Colson
Cripple her --- you have a Joni

Prayer: Father thank you that A Little Adversity today gives way to glory forever in your kingdom. In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.

I have to leave now to take Abby halfway home to meet her Daddy.  Back later.

:)  Hi to all .   I finally got back to post.   Well  much has been going on in our lives. My wife has had a couple of doctor app. and then we both saw our regular doctor on Friday for the regular check up.  We have been busy with our grandchildren.

Some bad news two of our kids were let go from there jobs last week and this is so hard as my son had a very well paying job.  It is so hard for our young people these days when this happens. :)

The mission that I volunteer at is doing very well last year they started a program called Redeemed Goods and this done in a store type setting to help get people back into the work force.  They mostly have been involved in drugs or are alcoholic's or from a bad family life.  This is for ladies.

Then just recently they have started one for men and I hope to be able to help in this program.  So things are exciting as this moves along.  The Lord is so good and it is so wonderful to see these people changing there lives and going back to there  families and to stop drinking and many other things.

Janet:  Those are early hours I know how hard it was to get up and be at work on time.  We pray that the Lord will continue to give you strength.  That first coffee is always good. :coffee:

Judy B:  Hi Sis.  Boy you have been having your fun with your vehicle I do hope that John was able to get it working so that there will be know more problems.  I don't know if you remember your dads friend from North Bay called Bill Storey who drove for Gray Coach well I had a very long conversation with him today and he is doing fairly well.  He did remember Pat and You.  He may give you a call. <3

Etta Sue:  Hope that you are looking after your self and you always sound very busy.  God Bless you.

Colin:   WHERE ARE YOU.  DON'T BE SHY WE MISS YOU.

Well must go for now keep praying for each others prayer requests as there are so many. <3

Right, Gord, that first  :coffee: really hits the spot; unfortunately, when I am working, I don't get a break to have that  :coffee: until 9 o'clock!

It was an unbelievable 69 degrees here today, but windy.

Hi everyone.  I got back home about 3:30 today from my weekend out of town.  We had a good meeting but didn't finish until a little after one pm today.  I was tired when I got home and took a couple of hours nap.  I have been trying to catch up on the computer.

I was concerned my room would be cold in the motel but it was very comfortable and a very nice room.  Today we had some rain and by the time we got on the road this afternoon and got home the sky was clear and it was much warmer.  Right now it is 47 degrees.

Pat

Well, those of you who have been in the past members of SeniorNet, did you all get your email today about their huge donation that they received for the Learning Centres?

Interesting.  No discussions back yet.

"Click for Waterloo Wellington, Ontario Forecast"

Jane Walker

Yup ... got the email.  From what I've been reading, I don't think they plan to bring the discussions back, Pat.   :-\
Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass .... it's about learning to dance in the rain!

Carol

Gord:  Sorry that your two sons have lost jobs.  My best to them.  We went through a grim time in our life - it can be overcome.  Tell them to keep faith.

Thankful that we could take an hour walk again tonight.  Both of us taking Ibuprophen for various pains.  It gets old.

I was reading my home town's newspaper (Seattle) and it is so totally biased that they should be ashamed but they think they are fair.  Unreal.

I will look at my email.  The place is ready for cousin & wife tomorrow.  Want to bet that he will ask how much we are paying for rent?  Don said he would bet me that my cousin would ask - I would never ask anyone.  I don't care.

Gord Brown

:)  Carol:   It was one of my sons that lost there job and also my daughter.  The big concern is that it takes at least two weeks for there unemployment pays to come through.  We just hope that they all can make there mortgage payments.

Well it is very late must hit the sack.  God bless to all.  Gord. <3

Hi everyone.  I had a good nights sleep and am ready to leave for coffee.  It looks like it will be nice here today.  I have a luncheon today but the rest of the day is free.

Gord, sorry to hear of the job loses for your children.  So far our son has been able to hold on to his fairly new job.  It is associated with the car industry but not for American cars.  They have had layoffs but he works in the Human Resources department and handles the payroll.

I got the message from SN last night and looked further at their homepage.  I agree with Jane in feeling that there is no inclination to bring back the discussions as a part of the organization. Our Learning Center leaders are meeting with a lawyer today to discuss the pro and cons of leaving SN.

Carol, some people are just very inquisitive and want to know things.  :)  Hope you enjoy your visit with relatives.

Etta Sue

I got the email from SrNet.  Truly, I didn't know they had anything but discussions.  Hope their move to DC was not in vain.  But I don't think many would return to SrNet even if they started up discussions again.

I am in a hurry and ready to head out the door to my urologists.  I have done my homework and want to discuss a few things with her...hopefully after she says my bladder looks clean!

Everyone take care in this changing weather.  At least we don't have to go to the mailbox today!

Etta Sue

Forgot to say, Janet ~ thanks for the devotion.  Very thought provoking!!

And Hi to All!

Janet

You're welcome, Etta Sue.

Gord, sorry about the kids' jobs.  I'm about ready to give my job to someone; problem is, it wouldn't make them a living wage.

Carol, glad you're having nice weather where you are.  I guess you could use Ann Landers' method of answering nosy questions.  She always said to look them in the eye and ask, "Now, why would you ask me a question like that?"  Might work, but with some people, I don't know.

I need to go spend time with Beth today, sorting out the stuff in all of her drawers--paper stuff.  Probably 90% of it is trash, but it isn't something the girls who work there would know what to do with.  Also, she is selling a big locking cabinet out of her house to someone, and I have to go clean that out, as well.  Yesterday, she threatened to go on a hunger strike, stop eating altogether.  I told them that she will eat when she gets hungry, I know Beth!  She was upset because they had food she can't manage, and she wanted one of the girls she likes a lot to help her.  And she refuses to sit with the others who have to be fed.  The nurse told her she can have only three of her girls in the dining room, that they can't spare one just exclusively to help Beth.  So she said, "Well, I just won't eat, then!"  :-\  We are trying to force her to do what little she can still do, for herself.  And some of the girls baby her too much. So it's always something.

What will Senior Net consist of, if they do away with the discussions?  And what will the huge donation be used for, anyway?  Sounds strange to me.

I slept poorly again, and got up late.  So it's time to get with it!

Glad to see you're home safely, Larry.

Janet, a Good devotional today . Surely gives you lots to ponder
Gord-it seems the story all over that people are being let go from their job.
I am glad the Lord said he watches  over us and knows our needs/
-seems like a good program that you have going there. may God bless you for giving of your time to help others who need to know the love of God in action.
Hello Pat, Marylin, Carol , Etta Sue, Larry, Al and to all here <3

#15
Cold here on the island.  Here in my world, we still have snow and ice all over the ground.  Went to Victoria and no snow.....sort of like being in another province.  At least it isn't raining today :)

My daughter & SIL went away for a couple of days rest.  He plans to ski a little...hope it doesn't mean anything gets hurt!  Wendy will stay in the condo they rented for three days.  At least it will give her some badly needed quiet time.  We have been having a lot of slides and stuff here and the slopes are dangerous at the moment.  She may spend most of the time worrying :-\.

Amanda is looking for work without much success.  I am getting too old for all this worrying....Sorry about your kids job loss, Gord.  Seems as if the world has gone completely mad.  I wish it were at least possible to get to a church.  Feel so lost without that to give encouragement.  The TV churches are a poor sub. and seem to be getting worse by the moment.  Guess that I am just getting sad from all the cold and lack of sunshine.  Must keep thinking SPRING!

Agree that Sr. Net seems to have taken a different and not too great direction.  Did enjoy the discussions and found some of them quite helpfull.  Especially enjoyed the pet sites and also the computer site was often interesting.  People were quite civil there.....

Time to go and get busy.  I hope that you can get Beth to feel better about things, Janet.  Must be so hard for both of you.  I will continue to remember her in prayer.  Also, glad that your dog is okay, Marilyn.  I have to get Misty in for her yearly shots...not looking forward to trying to encourage her into the carrier.... ::)

Thanks for the devotional, Janet.  It helps to remember that God is in control and good things do happen.  We have to do our part...right!

In answer to your question about crispy critters, Al.  I do not have an answer.  Feel a bit more like a 'lame duck' at this point in time...

Pleasant Day/Evening and God Bless.

Carol

Gord:  It surely hurts and worries a parent when we hear of job losses.  Such a dark time for so many people.  There is the mortgage & the heat & food - just overwhelming.

Liz:  Spring will be coming soon - hang in there.

Melody:  Hi back to you!  Take care.

Janet:  My prayers continue.

I have a pair of pants and a top outside drying after soaking & washing - I opened a can of anchovies for Don's side of the pizza & the oil popped out all over me.  Yuk.  Just hoping that my clothes are OK because I like these old duds.  Have a flank steak marinating for tonights meal with cousin & wife arriving.  Love those sales & this is easy to BBQ on the grill.

Ruth Ann Bice

Hi, friends, Well, I'm peeking in while resting again. Little by little I'm seeing progress at the apartment. Will most likely begin sleeping there on Thursday. My son from Atlanta, daughter who lives nearby and son who lives with me are going to get most of my stuff moved that day.

Y'all have a wonderful few days. Will get my internet and tv hookup done on Saturday morning, so maybe life will simmer down then.  :)

Ruth Ann

This has been another of "one of those days".  My hours have been cut.  That means Kassie's piano lessons will be cut.  There is always a domino effect isn't there.

The weather is considerable milder.  Van started juft fine today  That was a good thing.

I must go I have a lot to get done tonight.  On the other hand....I may just vegetate as I am off tomorrow.

Good night all

Janet

Carol--anchovies??  YUK!!  I hope your clothes recover!

Liz, I wish I could send you some sunshine and warm weather.  It was 73 here today.  We are concerned that the sap will rise in the fruit trees, then the cold will come and kill them.  So it isn't all good to have such unseasonably warm weather.  Hope Wendy and hubby have a nice trip and get some R & R.  Best wishes to Amanda in her job hunt.

I am bushed tonight.  I spent several hours in Beth's room, sorting out all kinds of paper stuff, mail, etc.  Most was trash, but you don't dare just pitch it all.  I did find a check from the electric company which should have been cashed weeks ago.  (Capital Credits refund.)

I am working again tomorrow.   :P  Not looking forward to it, as I am stiff and sore.  I did walk about a mile today on the treadmill.  But I sure need to get back into stretching and weight lifting; just cannot seem to get with it again.

Judy, sorry your hours were cut.  You are welcome to work for me tomorrow. ;)  Too bad about the piano lessons, but I sure understand.  Hope Kassie does!

Ruth Ann, good to see you!  We will all heave a big sigh of relief when you get all moved and settled.  God bless you.

I have to go out and unlock Beth's house, because Jennifer and her husband are coming to get that cabinet they are buying from Beth.  And I have some stuff in the car that I brought home from her room that I need to unload, too.

Have a good night, sweet dreams, and a pleasant Tuesday.

Hi everyone.  I am watching the Today Show and all the activities in Washington, D.C.  Regardless of our political views, this is a history making day.  I sure wouldn't care to be in Washington as it is really cold.  I just heard them say that the city is locked down at two miles from the Capitol.  I hope all goes well.

Janet, sorry that Beth is struggling so and I know that makes things so difficult for you.  However, just remember we can't live someone else's life--we can just be there to support them and do what we can to aid that support.

Regarding SeniorNet.  I have been involved with the Learning Centers since shortly after the time the website started.  The organization was created specifically to train seniors in using computers and the vehicle was the Learnining Centers.  This involved helping communities set up these centers, providing initial financial support and software and instructional materials.  Over the years many of these centers have matured and no longer really get much from SeniorNet although they continue to pay a portion of the fees they collect for their classes to the Headquarters.  Initially SN had a place on AOL and then later decided to open a world-wide web presence.  However, this has never been their main focus.  I hope this provides a little background of the situation.  It is a shame that the discussions seem to have gone away but seniors are resilant and are finding ways to accomplish the discussion needs thanks to folks like Pat Scott and also others who have stepped forward and provided a web presence.

Time to leave for coffee and then have a busy morning.

Samantha

Hey Marilyn!  Where you at?

I just turned on the TV and missed the swearing in of the new president by a few minutes.  Just now watching PAST President Bush leaving Washington as a civilian in the United States of America helicopter.  Sad time for some...happy time for others!

I got a great report from my Urologist yesterday and may even have a solution to my problems that may be made by surgery.  I am mulling it over a few days but things look positive.

Today is Euchre day.  Ivalou will be driving since it isn't bad out.  It will be a fun day.

Tomorrow Kitty and I are planning on going downtown Indy to the Indiana State Museum and have lunch at the L.S. Ayres Tea Room.  Then we want to go to the White River Gardens and go see the Butterfly Museum.  We plan to take our cameras.  Thursday is Kitty's birthday so this is for her birthday!

I may not be here tomorrow...also have a Projection Team meeting at church tomorrow evening.

Janet: Thanks for the devotional.

Here it is Tuesday, Mel & I went to the last company breakfast as we are now fully retired.  Mel had been a spare driver helping them out lots with no real rewards only verbal, yes I got the verbal as well but I was presented with a huge framed picture of the children's first day of school waiting for their school bus to arrive, a very big surprise for myself and another long time driver. (Jackie).  The picture will be hung in our living room as that seems to be the only place.

Larry: I never did sign up with Sr Net and now I am wondering if it is a dying site, do I not bother?

Janet: Beth's acceptance of her health problems must be very difficult and for you as well.

Pat:   If it makes you feel some better I have been told that Nobleton has much more snow than Guelph.  Already I wish it would go away. The snow I mean.

It is getting late and dinner is ready.
In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.  Proverbs 3:6

Janet

Hi, Kids.  I worked today, then went by to pick up Beth's Valentine cards to address for her.  We were too late for Christmas cards with hers and John's photo, so we are sending Valentines instead.  So I need to get them ready, lest they be late!

I am helping my sister write a book.  I contributed a lot of the story; also will be doing the editing of it.  That will save a lot of money.

Boy, I'm tired today.  I slept very fitfully, then went into a sound, deep sleep just before the alarm sounded.  I really had trouble getting myself roused and up and going.  But I had a good day at work.  I made some awesome pecan pies!  The residents made a point to come and tell me how much they enjoyed them.  That makes it worth it.

Better get to the addressing!

Janet good for you with the book.  It may be tough going, but the end product will be worth it all.  Hope you got those addresses all done.  That is quite a job.

It has been quiet in here for the last few days.  Wake up everyone it is morning!!!

God Bless

Hello Everyone...

It's been very cold here in Falls Church, VA   I almost feel it more than (when the temperature says it's colder) up in Guelph.  It's a warmer day today though.  Geordie is enjoying himself down here.

We're off to Winchester today to work on things.

I had this devotional come into my email box today.  Thought I'd share it with you all.

January 21st
READ: Mark 11:1-25

Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours. And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive him so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins (Mark 11:24-25).

What Jesus is saying is, "The great hindrance to having faith in God is pride, the pride that refuses to forgive. That is like a mountain that fills up your whole life. All you can see is that big mountain looming before you, and it is blocking the life of God in your life. You have the power to have that removed if, when you stand and pray, you will forgive those who have offended you." Because the only thing that stops us from forgiving one another is pride. We feel justified in wanting others to forgive us but also in feeling that we have to exact a price for the hurt they have caused us. So, in many ways—subtle, or direct and open—we insist that we will not forgive, that our offenders have to pay for what they have done to us. Somehow, we are going to make them crawl, make them beg or plead for forgiveness. "And that," Jesus says, "is a great mountain that needs to be removed, for it is blocking the flow of the life of God to your faith." So when you stand and pray, life will flow from God when you are able to recognize that you, too, need forgiveness. God has forgiven you. God has offered it freely to you; give it just as freely to the one who has offended you.

After many years of ministry, I can recite evidence by the yard that this is true. The one thing above all else that seems to block the flow of the life of God to an individual, to a church, or to a nation, is this unwillingness to forgive, this holding of grudges, this desire to put somebody down in order to feel good yourself, this unwillingness to set these things aside and let God heal all the hurts of life.

That is why Jesus puts His finger on this one thing. Is this not amazing? The nation Israel lost its life because it would not forgive the Gentiles, the Romans, who had offended and grieved it. Instead, it gathered its robes of self-righteousness about it and looked with pride up to God and said, "I thank God I am not like these other people." God says that is what ends the life of a nation. That is what ends the life of a church. And that is what ends the spiritual life of an individual, as it cuts him or her off.

Father, how many times I have refused the forgiving word, the restoring act, only to be tormented by fears and anxieties and worries. Thank You for the forgiveness that is mine in Jesus Christ. Teach me to extend it to those around me.
