Morning Devotional...
Questions Given and Taken
Mark 12:28-34 NLT
One of the teachers of religious law was standing there listening to the debate. He realized that Jesus had answered well, so he asked, "Of all the commandments, which is the most important?"
Jesus replied, "The most important commandment is this: 'Listen, O Israel! The Lord our God is the one and only Lord. And you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your mind, and all your strength.' The second is equally important: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' No other commandment is greater than these."
The teacher of religious law replied, "Well said, Teacher. You have spoken the truth by saying that there is only one God and no other. And I know it is important to love him with all my heart and all my understanding and all my strength, and to love my neighbor as myself. This is more important than to offer all of the burnt offerings and sacrifices required in the law."
Realizing how much the man understood, Jesus said to him, "You are not far from the Kingdom of God." And after that, no one dared to ask him any more questions.
(https://www.christianphotographers.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi195.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fz77%2FEttaSue%2FCP%2FAnis%2FStarblinking.gif&hash=27e115f9cd5672d07457eb7160f143473dc479d4)Whom do you know who is not far from the Kingdom of God?
God's laws are not burdensome in number or detail. They can be reduced to two simple rules for life: love God, and love others.
These commands are from the Old Testament (Lev. 19:18; Deut 6:5). When you love God completely and care for others as you care for yourself, then you have fulfilled the intent of the Ten Commandments and the other Old Testament laws.
According to Jesus, these two rules summarize all of God's laws. Let them rule your thoughts, decisions, and actions. When you are uncertain about what to do, ask yourself which course of action best demonstrates love for God and love for others.

Everyone, I wish I had some pics to post, but I haven't taken any lately. Maybe when the weather gets better I'll be able to get some.
We had more snow yesterday. We also got quite a bit of sleet. Today it's mostly cloudy we had more snow this morning, but once again it didn't stick.
Etta Sue, Very nice devotional, and I hope you fell better soon.
Hi to everyone else.
hi, friends, i'm back and so very thankful for safe travels and a wonderful visit. much love to all.
Ah Etta Sue who kicked me off last night just when I was posting, a very nice devotional! I do hope you are feeling better. Please take care of yourself.
I was just posting last night to thank you Gordon for your kind comment on my poem and so good that you and your wife got to church yesterday.
Warm Irish greetings to all. Have a blessed day.
Good morning all,
Beautiful devotional Etta Sue, I do hope and pray you are feeling better soon.
Hi Gord, so good to hear things are getting better bit by bit.
Hi Colin!
Hello to everyone who visits today!
Well, getting down to the wire here, 2 days left to finish packing and making sure all my bases are covered then off to the Emerald Isle for a much needed break. And I am so excited to be meeting Colin and his family and all the other people I have spoken too and know about from Colin. I cannot wait to see all the beautiful places that are in our dvd "Poems from the Heart". God surely made an awesomely beautiful place there in Northern Ireland.
Hope you all have a God filled and blessed day!
Trusting In Him
Jeannine
Hi Jeannine, we are all waiting...ahem..patiently for your arrival! You got an annoucement on the radio yesterday so the whole of N. Ireland knows you are coming now. <3 I wish you a safe journey over and looking forward to seeing you on Thursday. Heard Marlene saying she is going shopping on Wednesday to buy soda, fadge, eggs, pancakes etc. Sounds like an Ulster fry is going to greet you! :coffee: God bless
Hi everyone. I am a bit sad today in the loss of my coffee drinking buddy yesterday afternoon. The cancer took him quickly and he is now in peace and without pain with our Savior, Jesus Christ. I called all the men in our Friday coffee group to let them know about the arrangements. There is a viewing and meeting the family tomorrow evening and then the funeral is Wednesday afternoon. I am really going to miss this man and I was thinking that I have spent somewhere between 3,500 to 4,000 hours with him around a table in our morning get togethers during the last 12 years or so. He was a very kind and gentle man, soft-spoken and I never heard him speak an unkind word about anyone. Of course I am grateful to God that he didn't have to suffer over a long period of time as many people have to do and he was lucid until the end.
We are anticipating the return of Pat and Paul later this afternoon. It is another gorgeous day here in Georgia so they will have nice driving weather. It is going to be warm today. We had some of the Irish soda bread for breakfast yesterday and it was very good. Pat cut it into slices and we froze two or three pieces in individual packages so we can keep it from spoiling and enjoy it over a longer period of time.
Colin, it sounds like you speak a different language over your way. I have been enjoying some BBC television series that I can get on the computer with Netflix. One was set in Ireland and was called Ballykissangel. The other, that I am currently watching, is called Monarch of the Glen and I am enjoying them very much. The scenery is breath-taking and they are good stories.
Ruth Ann, it sounds like you had a wonderful time.
Marilyn, glad you had a nice weekend and that your family is keeping an eye on you. :)
Jeannine, I am sure you are getting anxious to make your trip. Hope it is just a wonderful experience. I am sure with Colin's sense of humor that you will be strengthening your laughing muscles.
Etta Sue, sure sorry to hear that you are still feeling poorly. Glad your brother was back to help you with your yard. Thanks for the fine devotional for this week.
Happy Birthday, Nards. Hope it is a good one for you but sure with those two little ones it will be a lot of fun. The little ones keep us young.
Hi Scotty and Sarah.
Gord, nice to read your posting and see you are feeling stronger and that your wife was up to attending church.
Al, I agree with your comments on our visitors. It has been a delight.

I wish I could say I feel as perky as this rose but I can't say that. I feel much better but I still have a way to go before feeling back to normal.
I didn't go to the funeral this morning for my growing up friend's husband. Just couldn't get motivated.
I did eat some breakfast and it tasted good. Now I wish I could think of something mild to have for lunch. Don't want to upset my stomach again with anything too rich.
My daughter-in-law sent this website http://folkworm.ceri.memphis.edu/recenteqs/Quakes/quakes0.html
to me this morning. It seems that just over the Indiana/Illinois line there has been some earthquakes since Friday that have been felt in Chicago, Indianapolis, Cincinnati and St. Louis among other places. Looks like four now. I haven't felt a thing. This is unusual for the midwest, I think. I remember one tremor in '87...everything shook. But nothing around here since.
It is bright and sunny here today. I have a window open. A man is disking Kaye Don's field. The newly turned over sod smells soooo good. And the sod farmer is working in Ivalou's field. Spring is finally here. My forsythia is in full bloom and my narsicus is in bloom. That's all for my yard. Not many flowers at all. (*)*(*)*(*)*(*)*(*)*(*)*(*)*(*)*(*)*(*)*(*)*(*)*

Thanks, Etta Sue, for the devotional for this week. I truly hope you are feeling better today and will continue to improve. I believe you really do need the rest as that can be the best "medicine" sometimes.
I really love this quote from Max Lucado!
Nards, sorry I'm late with your HAPPY BIRTHDAY greeting. Hope it was a good day for you. Here's to many more.
Today is my daughter Joy's birthday. She called me yesterday and told me of the party she threw for herself. She didn't tell anyone it was for her birthday, just invited people to come to a "Music in the Garden" time. She and John have a really large backyard that runs down to a creek. They have a neat deck--part of it is covered--and lots of special touches out there for a great place to congregate and fellowship or just relax. She told me about 15 people showed up. She had asked them to bring musical instruments if they had them and it would be just an informal time of being together.
She was really surprised when I told her we'd had SNOW here for the past couple days!! :o
Larry, I extend my condolences for the loss of your good friend. I understand the void this leaves in your heart and with the others who have met for coffee for so many years. That's a lot of hours to be together, and a lot of good memories to cherish, as well.
I am so sorry about your friend Larry. I am glad he did not suffer too long and was a saved man. I know the two programnes you speak of Larry... think the Monarch of the Glen is set in Scotland. We do speak proper English over here Larry but we have an Ulster Sots Society which is trying to keep our native tongue alive. This is for the mainly Protestant population here whose ancestors were brought over here from Britian in the Plantation. The native Irish Catholic would be taught the Irish language which the Protestant people have not much interest in. As you might grasp..we live in a divided community here but most people get on quite well with each other and I can assure you you will not get much better people than us! I think Jeannine is in for a fantastic time!
Hello everyone. Not much is new here today. I have been to Curves before work, worked both jobs, talked to Keith twice.
Larry {{{hugs}} and condolences regarding the loss of your friend.
Jane that sounds like such a fun time for Joy and her friends. We used to do stuff like that as a family when I was growing up. everyone in the family played some kind of instrument, Grandparents on my mother's side and all my uncles. Keith said he didn't think it snowed at his place, but then he didn't get back there until 4:30pm could have melted by then.
Etta Sue I hope you are feeling better and better as the day progresses.
Janet have you received the results from Beth's MRI yet?
Hey, all! I had a great birthday yesterday spending (windy) time at the park with my beautygirl and our two babydolls. Thanks for all the good wishes!
Hi, everyone; I took some good pics today. The sun finally broke through the clouds.
So I'll post them in a few minutes, I'm waiting for the Batch Process to finish.
Over and out,
Scotty
OK, I posted them in Flora.
I enjoyed the devotional, Etta Sue. Sorry that you are feeling ill and hope things get better real soon.
We have had snow for the past three days. Can't figure out what is happening to our weather...I think they should call this Global Cooling, at least in these once balmy parts!
The horror of updating continues. The kids were without heat all weekend and today and tomorrow...Gas is not connected yet and the sad tale goes on. I try to stay calm and cook, and cook....! I am not that fond of cooking ::)
Must go now and finish a few things. Also get Misty inside...she is in a constant stage of terror.
Where is Janet????
Pleasant Day/Evening and God Bless.
Liz
Weren't Janet and her hubby planning a long trip to see a relative?
Yes, Etta Sue, I really enjoyed the devotional, also. Every person who puts their time in for these devotionals should receive lots of <3 from all of us.
My thumb surgery site looks as if it wants to get infected. Will call tomorrow - hope they'll see me tomorrow.
Went back to work today, and of course, ended up staying over a couple of hours or so. BUT, the good news is that the formal "get the person hired" process is about to start, so maybe will be able to do some training before I retire.
AHHHHH, blessed day!
Hi everyone. Another beautiful day here in Georgia. We had a lovely evening out with Pat and Paul. They didn't get back until after 9 pm so we met at a restaurant on their way here. Due to the hour the place wasn't busy and we all had a nice dinner and a lot of fun. Everyone slept in this morning and are just now getting up and about.
About 10:30 last evening our neighbor lady called us to say her husband, another good friend, was in the hospital. His blood pressure had been out-of-control during the day but had come down and while they were eating in the hospital cafeteria before coming home he apparently had a TIA and was back in the ER and then they wanted to keep him overnight.
This evening I will pick up two of my friends and we will go to the visitation for our friend who passed way.
This is going to be a busy day as also have something I must do this evening.
Etta Sue, I heard about the earthquakes and aftershocks. Glad there wasn't any serious damage or loss of life. I remember earthquakes from living in Alaska years ago. Hope you are feeling better today.
Ruth Ann, sure hope you don't have infection in your hand and will be able to see the doctor.
Liz, it does seem to be taking a long time with the remodeling. Know that must be frustrating. Hope it will be over before too long.
Jane, that sounds like it was a lovely party your daughter had.
Well our guests are stirring so will be brief today.
Well, I thank our Lord this morning for Pat's son and for restoring CP to us! It was down when I first came online this morning, so I emailed Iain, and look, here it is up again!
It's raining here today, and it will probably continue to do so through tomorrow, then brief clearing. We need it, so I'm thankful for it. Our Father is gracious and merciful to water and refresh His earth.
I'm glad to hear, Larry, that Pat & Paul have had a good trip thus far. Pray it'll continue.

Good afternoon!
I am much better today. Kitty and Bob got home from St. L yesterday and I went over last evening to see some of the pictures she took at the St. L. Zoo and the Botanical Garden. Beautiful. I hesitated but had some popcorn. Tasted soooo good. Testing the waters. Don't want to jump in full force to eating again.
Then this morning I had to be at the doctor at 8:20am. Ivalou surprised me by ringing my doorbell at 7:45am and said she changed her mind...she decided she wanted to go out to eat breakfast after all. So she went with me. My blood work went fine. I just need to lower my cholesterol ... well, not lower it but lower my LDL count. And my triglycerides. That's hard for a sweet-aholic to do!! Then she knocked me for a loop when she asked me if I had ever been told I have a heart murmur!!!! NO!! So now I go next week for an Echocardiogram. Also next week for a Bone Density test. And I called awhile ago for a mammogram and I go tomorrow at 2:30 for that. Might as well get it all done and over with!! It's not fun getting old.. :'( :'(
I have all my windows open and the cool breeze sure does feel good. The sod farmer is mowing the sod. He uses a gang-mower...that is like 20 old-time rotary push mowers put together. Sounds neat plus the new mowed grass smells so good!
I forgot to say to Larry that I am sorry to hear about your friend's passing. That sure is a lot of hours to chat over coffee but just think of the wonderful memories he has given to many.
That's it! ~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^

Thank you for the beautiful devotions.
Larry: I am so sorry to learn of the loss of one of your coffee buddies. My prayers for you and his relatives.
Etta Sue: No matter how sick you feel, you still can post some fun and darling stuff. How do you do it? So much talent!
Hi carol you were posting as I was reading.
Etta Sue I forgot to thank you for the nice devotional this week. Glad you are feeling better.
Not much is new here today, The rain has stopped and I took the dogs out for their walks, short ones today. I am going to be working another couple of hours per week for my client's grand daughter, she is due in 6 weeks and all you mother's know how difficult it is those last few weeks of pregnancy.
It will only be for these last few weeks. I don't want to take on much more work than I have already, I need time for myself to do the things need to do, Dr appointments, dogs for walks, my own leisurely housework, shopping etc.
TTYL
Where is Janet?? Here I am! 8) And yes, we are planning to leave on Saturday to go to Mc Allen Texas area to visit Darrel's only brother. In the meantime, it's been a Zoo around here.
Yesterday I worked from 6:30 AM until 8:00 PM!! Whew, what a marathon. I didn't really have to do that, but the girl who was on the afternoon shift really needed help, because they had a board meeting there and had to feed those people. So I worked. I told Darrel that was too long a day; I don't plan on doing that any more. :-\
My sister from Nebraska was here, so of course I took time to visit with her. Went to see "Nunsense" in which my younger sis had the leading role, twice. Once with older sister, then to take Beth on Sunday afternoon.
Now Beth's friend from Fargo, N.Dakota is here. They met about 15 years or so ago, at a neurofibromatosis camp near Dallas, and have kept up their friendship since that time, through email, chat room, phone calls and letters. Becky is a little younger than Beth, about 5 years or so. She was afraid to set out on such a long trip by herself, and is so happy she made it here fine. The trip took her two days. Becky and Beth look so much alike it is uncanny!! I was shocked! Not their features, but they have the neurofibroma tumors in the identical places on their faces, hands, arms, etc. I could look at Becky's arms and hands and almost swear they were Beth's. Strange. Becky doesn't have the tumors inside her body, just the surface ones, so she is still able to work, drive, etc. I gave her the keys to Beth's van and they are happily doing their thing--eating out, going to the museum, going to the movies, etc. Becky said she had never driven over 300 miles from home before, so this was a real feat for her. She seems like a really sweet gal, and this visit will be so good for Beth. She is staying here with us (to sleep, anyway! ;)) and plans to stay a full week. TMI? Sorry.
Larry, I send my condolences on the loss of your friend. One can never have too many friends, and a close one like that will be sorely missed. So good you have the assurance of meeting him again in heaven. I'm also happy for you to have had such a nice visit from Pat and Paul.
I have a close friend whose husband is losing a long battle with cancer. So many sadnesses.....
Oh, Ruth Ann, I do hope you don't get an infection in the surgery site! {{{hugs}}}}
Marilyn, sounds as if things are moving right along with Keith.
I cleaned house today, as we are having Seven For Dinner on Friday night, then we will leave on Saturday morning. So again---I am tired. Gotta slow down!!
Etta Sue, so sorry to hear of your illness. That stuff is NOT FUN, for sure. Glad you're feeling better now.
Liz, hang in there. Sure seems to be taking a long time, doesn't it? And I'm sure that to you it feels like forever!
Hello, Carol. Are you selling your house? I think I am confused about what your plans are.
Hi to Colin, Jeannine, Gord, Sarah, Scotty----and anyone else whose name my tired brain is not recalling at this minute. Blessings to all of you.
Good Morning Everyone.
Jeannine are you on your way to Ireland yet?
Janet it is good to hear that Beth's friend has come to visit her. What a brave lady to drive all that way. It is a good thing it took her two days that means she stopped to rest.
Gord how is your recovery coming along?
Nita are you feeling better, Happy and Bebe tell me that you have been barking a lot. Please email me your phone number so I can program it into my cell.
Jane I have programed your number for this next trip to Oregon next weekend. I will try to call you.
This weekend I am cat sitting my neighbors cats. I have taken care of them before. No cats here I will go there 2-3 times per day.
Hello Samantha, Colin, Larry, Etta Sue, Kevin, etc.
TTYL
Good morning all,
Well, in about 7 hours I will be on the plane heading for Newark, NJ, then on to Northern Ireland. I am so excited :D and nervous :-[at the same time. Nervous because flying just makes me that way. It will be a wonderful trip, I know it will. Next time I post it should be from, what's Colin call that again?...."the auld sod" I think. <3
May you all have a God filled and blessed day.
Trusting in Him,
Jeannine
Hi everyone. Just back from Bible Study with the pastor. We are starting a new study on the mission of the Church and studied Acts 1:1-11 today. This afternoon we have the funeral for my friend. The coffee group are serving as honorary pallbearers. Then this evening we have choir practice. So it is a full day. Tomorrow should be quieter. I appreciate your comments of concern and prayer support.
Etta Sue, I have had the same experience this year with a heart murmur showing up. I have never had it before but it has been noted by each doctor I have seen since I was in the hospital a few weeks ago. My cardiologist wasn't particularly concerned about it so I am not worrying about it. However, good to have it checked out.
Janet, that was certainly a marathon day and I don't see how you held up. Certainly nice that Beth's friend came to see her and that they are able to get out and do somethings.
It is time for lunch so will stop for today.

Carol ~ Thanks for the lovely comment about my being talented. Not really talented. If you knew what I call my animations, you would realize they are posted alphabetically!! Just my thing to bring a smile to everyone. My mother taught me that if you look hard enough, you will find something to smile or laugh about. I try!
I will look east this afternoon to see if I see Jeannine flying to Newark! Oh, I wish I were she!!
Larry ~ You posted while I was composing. Hearing about my heart murmur was a shock but I am not worrying about it. I am thinking positive and giving the concern to God. Besides getting an echocardiogram is a good thing...to find out how the old ticker is doing! The EKG was great!
I am pleased as puddin'! Tony came last evening to fix the flat on my lawn tractor. He plugged it 8 times and put Slime in it and it still leaked. So while he removed the wheel and tire from the rim, I went to Noblesville to purchase a new tire. After going to 4 places, I bought two tires since the external diameter was smaller than the original...didn't want to feel like I was driving on a hill all the time. I called back to tell him I was on my way back. He said, 'Mom. I got the Honda going!' Wow! The Honda hadn't been started in 4 years. He said all he did was clean the battery terminals and it started right off!! So I now have two mowers to use again. I will mow one time with one, the next time with the other! Makes mowing more exciting!!! Haha!
Yesterday morning gas in Noblesville was $3.45.9. Last evening it was $3.65.9. One station raised it $.25 a gallon!! Price gouging!!
Ivalou is at her dentist getting a crown prep today. I go to the Women's Center for a mammogram at 2 pm. I slept late today purposefully so that afterwards I could have a late lunch of Mexican food. My stomach is back to normal!!
And Friday, Ivalou, Kaye Don, Barb and I are going to Ohio to watch Ivalou's grandson pitch in a baseball game. He is a Senior this year and is hoping to get a baseball scholarship for Cincinnati University!! He is good. Really good! Looking forward to getting away and more to see the families in Ohio.{{{HUGS}}} {{{HUGS}}} {{{HUGS}}} {{{HUGS}}} {{{HUGS}}}

Well, after 2,246 miles from Falls Church, Virginia, to Larry Hanna's place and then on to Pensacola, Florida and then back the same route, I'm here in Virginia ready to set off for Guelph tomorrow. So add about 1000 miles to that total and not bad for 6 days!!!
I'm tired and have to make a further trip when I get home to Canada's capital city, Ottawa, to attend the funeral of an extended family member so will be certainly tired at the end of the week. (Another 600 miles return)
WELCOME HOME, PAT!! When you get here, anyway. ;) I mean THERE. Oh, I don't know what I'm saying. Anyhow, we miss you.
I went to the Home and got the results of Beth's MRI a while ago. Of course, I don't understand most of it, as it's written in "doctor-ese". I took a copy to our wonderful chiropractor, Dr. Saxon, who is so determined to help Beth. He copied it, said he will do his homework tonight and then try to explain it to us. We will also consult her regular doctor here about it and ask if it indicates that anything can be done to help her.
Etta Sue, although I don't mention them often, I really do enjoy your graphics, and they do make me smile. So you're doing good!!
I'm going to try to rest a bit. See you later.
Check out this You tube video.

Janet: Rest easy tonight. How interesting that you could see similarity between Beth and her friend because of the dreadful disease. And, because of it being internal as well for Beth, her load is much heavier. Bless her soul. It does sound like you are doing too much. Oh, we are going to put our place up for sale soon - to move closer to the children. We are so tired. Don restained a deck today and painted some concrete at the entrance - had an agent over. She will be back & we will interview one more at least. I spent hours going through my sewing stuff - I have had a wonderful big room downstairs with two stainless shelving units & my sewing machines. But - will never be able to duplicate this space so am going through thread, fabric & many magazines. Donating a ton. I also boxed up several things today. Just so tired.
Marilyn: Missed seeing you - I am not sleeping well right now with so much on my mind. But - your posts sound positively serene - something is changing in your life. I usually feel serene and calm but just the prospect of moving has caused stress and we haven't even listed yet. This too shall pass.......
Larry: It is hard to attend funerals - at least for me. I will never forget years before when a neighbor lost her very young son to an industrial accident. Expecting a sad group, it was really a shock to me that she was smiling and so happy that her son had gone on to heaven - he was about twenty. It made me really think about how I would accept anything like that in my life. Thankfully, I never had to go through the ordeal - but we always worry about our grands, don't we? My neighbors faith was so overt that it was stunning and beautiful. Anyway, my thoughts are with you as you mourn the loss of your good friend.
Hi, friends, thanks to your prayers and God's touch, my surgery site is better. However, I've worked so many hours this week that now the right arm is acting up. At any rate, y'all have a good rest of the day.
Much love to all.
Hi everybody. I have had some problems with my ISP in the past week or so and have been internetless (that a word?) for a little bit and then on DPChallenge.com (you guys are familiar with that site?) today I have been embroiled in a major controversy over wether the Christians on the site should be able to have a forum. It really shocked me at the outcry against this idea among the non-Christians. It has been at times very trying on there today. Wanted to stop in and let everyone know I am alive and breathing. Hope all of you are doing well. Tomorrow is another day. I believe it will be the best day of my life. Praise God and God bless all of you.
Hi everyone!
Marilyn, I saw that episode of American Idol. I thought they did a great job, except at the beginning. On the live show, they sang, "My shepherd, my savior" Not My jesus,. Like in the clip you linked. But I'm glad to hear that they sang it right to practice. If Dolly can sing, Jesus and gravity, why couldn't they sing Jesus too? Go figure.
Enough rambling for the day, gotta go!
Later,
Samantha :ticked:
Well, I just found out, (Looked it up!) They did sing it on live tv! I must have fast forward through that to get to something else. I just saw the one where they were all dressed in white.
Hi All I have been so busy lately that I have not posted here on Thought of the Week. Work is busy, our main computer programe has been down since Friday and we have had to do things the old fashioned way....manually.
We are excited with the results at the Kiwanis Festival. Kassie came in first and third in two competitions. She has done well. I am really impressed with the ajudicator, he didn't just comment on the playing of the contestants, he also used the time to teach them. He was amazing. At some point I would love to see him teach Kassie.
Well I have to go. God bless
JudyB
Hi everyone. Another sunny and beautiful day here in Georgia. After coffee at the cafe this morning one of my friends and I went to walk a few rounds at the church gym. Now I have the rest of the day free and told my wife I didn't plan on leaving the house again today, except to get the mail at the end of the driveway (which isn't very far). This has been a busy week and it seemed that I was on the go most of the time.
Last night at choir we only had 7 members show up for practice. I never like to miss choir practice as it is such a joy to me to sing under the direction of our fine choir director. In mid-may the Atlanta Symphony Chorus, of which she has been a part for many years, is flying to Berlin and will do three concerts with the Berlin Philharmonic. The choir performed there three years ago with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra. This time only the Chorus was invited back to Berlin. She and her new husband of a few weeks are using this as a special wedding trip.
I did attend the funeral yesterday of my dear friend. It was a wonderful celebration of his life. We had about 13 men from our coffee group who served as honorary pallbearers. I think it was the largest group of family I have ever seen at a funeral. I must admit I had difficulty keeping my emotions together and a few tears filled my eyes as I thought of all the times I had spent with him and what a fine man he was.
It looks like Pat should have a good driving day to return home. She has certainly clocked a lot of miles in this last week.
Samantha, I understand the same thing about the American Idol performance that Marilyn posted. I haven't watched the show so didn't experience that personally.
Ruth Ann, I think we are going to have to shake you and Janet up in a sack to see who is working the hardest as you both seem to know no limits. Hope your arm is feeling better today.
Carol, I can imagine the job you have to do with your sewing room. My wife has boxes and boxes of material, books and sewing things. Fortunately she has done some weeding in the past of material she knew she would never use (generally things that had been given to her) but still seems to have it in not only her sewing room but in other places in the house. Pat and verify that our dining room looks like a sewing room as that is where she does the cutting of the pieces. If it makes her happy then it makes me happy. However, I got a little worried a few weeks ago when it all spilled out into the kitchen and dining area but that was just for a short-term project.
Etta Sue, sure glad to hear you are feeling better. It sounds like you are all set for a lot of grass mowing this year.
Janet, hope you can get some answers from the MRI that Beth had. The unknown is always more frightening to me than the knowing, even if the knowing involves what I didn't want to hear. I at least know what I am dealing with.
I think I am going to do some computer maintenance today. I haven't cloned my hard drive for a year and this would be a good day to do it if I can remember how.
Well, here we are on a Thursday morning with the sun shining! As I look out my window here in the little office I have, I'm looking toward the mobilehome next over from us, but, above that mobilehome and just a few feet further on, there's a row of cedars along the drive over there. The early morning sun shines on them to reveal the most marvelous shade of light green possible. It's absolutely beautiful in that early morning sun. I could just sit here looking at that sight for quite a time.
Larry, I must admit that I don't know what you mean when you say you're going to "clone" your computer, but I hope you do remember it and that it goes well.
Ruth Ann, I too am very glad your hand's looking better today. May our God continue to provide improvement for it.

Good morning! And what a wonderful morning! I have all the windows open and a nice breeze is blowing through. I can hear the birds singing. Occasionally a tractor humming or a motorcycle running. Sounds of Spring.
Today all of us are mowing our lawns. Then tomorrow afternoon we are all...meaning, Ivalou, Kaye Don, Barb and I...are going to Ohio to watch Ivalou's grandson pitch in a baseball game. He is good. He is a 6'5" Senior this year and has already been accepted at Cincinnati University where his older sister attends. Erik wants to be a physical therapist...Edie changed her major from Industrial Design to Nursing! So both of them will be working in the medical field. Erik will be good. He has always been a touchy-feely type of guy.
Well, time to find a bite to eat and then mow!! tra-la-la tra-la-la tra-la-la tra-la-la tra-la-la tra-la-la

Good evening from Northern Ireland, I arrived to a smiling Colin and Marlene and a group hug. It is wonderful here, so beautiful and the people are wonderful.
Well been a very long day plus so will write when I have more energy. May you all have a God filled and blessed day.
Trusting In Him,
Jeannine
I am going to have my nails done again this afternoon but for now I am home waiting for Keith to page me on Messenger for our mid-day chat. I am going to be helping my client's pregnant grand daughter with her housework a couple of days per week during these last few weeks of her pregnancy and I will go for the first time tomorrow. She had false labor last night so I know it won't be long before the baby comes.
Everything is fine here, I will be going to Oregon again next Friday after work. I'm going to make some sweet goodies to take along, Chocolate No Bakes I think the recipe is in the recipe folder. I will check, if not there I will post it.
On with my reading.
TTYL
Hi, everyone; not much happening today. But yesterday we went to the mall and my grandparent house. My grandpa made Chicken Fettuccine for dinner.
Yumm!
I was hoping to get some pics today, but the weather went bad, and my parents left on one of their date nights. So, maybe some other time.
Carol, I can just imagine moving after being here for over 25 years, the past ten in this building, having moved 300 yards from the big house over here. It's amazing how much more stuff we have accumulated in that 10 years. Sorry you are having sleep problems. I can relate; I have them most every night. :( I think that's why I have gained some weight, I eat to try to regain the energy I should have gotten from sleeping. I hope you find the perfect realtor for your needs. So much work.........oh, my.
I'm thinking I may have to quit the job, as my right hand is giving me problems in the Guyon's Canal surgery site, and on up that side of my arm. I sure don't want permanent problems with it, and I do not have to work. I enjoy it, but it isn't a necessity. And goodness knows, I keep plenty busy without a job. ;)
Becky and Beth are enjoying themselves so much. It's a blessing that Becky came to visit--over 900 miles. Today she brought Beth out while I was teaching my painting class, and they both made cards. (I made Beth's for her, but she told me what she wanted.) Then we took pictures, they went out to Beth's mobile home for a while, and then back to the home where they will eat a Subway sandwich and watch TV together. Becky comes back here when she's ready, comes in the back door and goes to bed. Both of them are such sweet souls, I wish everyone could see the real person rather than only the marred exterior. But life is short, and soon we will be in heaven and they will have brand new, perfect bodies. God is good!
Larry, glad you had a slower day today. We need those!
Etta Sue, it is so good to "hear" you back to your usual chipper, optimistic, happy self!
Pat, you home yet?? :)
Marilyn, I don't know how you manage to spend so much time on the computer and still do all your other stuff. I need your formula.
Jeannine---Colin--We are all envious here. So do share your fun and photos with us, will you? Ireland is definitely on my "want to go" list!
Hey there, Al! We don't have much of anything green here yet, it will be nice.
Becky is here, so see you later.
Good Morning: I hope all y-all are well and being blessed today.
Pat I pray you have had a safe trip back from Virginia, you must be home by now and getting rested up.
Janet I just take things at a easy pace and don't try to do it all in one day. If I don't feel like doing something I don't do it. Saturday is going to be a busy day though. I have mow, do some shopping at the Coop in Arcata, clean house, do laundry, shampoo my hair, cook a lasagna for the church potluck and be there by 4pm. The lasagna is a frozen one. Yes I do spend a lot of time on the computer in the evenings, except when I am at Keith's or he is here the computers are shut down.
Jeanine it is good to hear that you made it safely to Colin's and thanks for checking in here to let us know you got there.
Larry sorry to hear of the loss of your good friend.
Carol, where are you moving to? Is it far from where you are now I dread having to sort and downsize once more, and get things packed up. I know it is coming some time this year.Possibly before the time changes in October.
Etta Sue glad you are getting back to "normal" and doing the things you usually do.
Time for me to Call Willa and get to Curves.
Marilyn, That is kinda my approach. I know what I need to get done, and if I do it fine, if not, there is always tomorrow. Of course, I am the queen of procrastination, or would be if they ever got around to crowning me, so my way is probably not the best way.
Right now, I am in the middle of my "testing season." The state of NC requires that all homeschoolers between 7 and 16 be administered a nationally normed standardized test. I give one of them. I only tested four this week, but will be testing 8 or more for the next four or five weeks. So between that, my two days a week at the community college, tutoring 6 students, and my own little angels, I'm a bit busy. It's okay, though, it keeps me out of arguments on the Internet. hahahahahahhaha :P
Janet, I know you enjoy your job, but please don't hurt your arm. :( Would working less hours be less strain on your arm?
I got this joke in the email this morning
A group of Americans were traveling by tour bus through Holland. As they stopped at a cheese farm, a young guide led them through the process of cheese making, explaining that goat's milk was used. She showed the group a lovely hillside where many goats were grazing.
"These" she explained "are the older goats put out to pasture when they no longer produce." She then asked, "What do you do in America with your old goats?"
A spry old gentleman answered, "They send us on bus tours!"
*Thanks to Pastor Tim for this joke!*
http://www.cybersalt.org/cleanlaugh
have a wonderful day everyone!!! <3
As the saying goes: I resemble that remark.
Yeah Al I think you do resemble that remark. Did you think you could get that one by me without me saying something? <3
Karmat: LOL on the old goat.
Al: You do not resemble an old goat! A nice goat.
Marilyn: We will eventually move closer to the children - it is only 1 1/2 hours at the most to the ones farthest but - weather intrudes plus the worst freeway traffic & speedsters. It is a nightmare to drive. Snow & blowing is what cancels too many things in our lives.
Janet: You surely can't undo that surgery. You will make the right decision - we all want you to have some relaxation too. This is wonderful for Beth to have company!
Larry: I would like to learn how to "clone" the driver too. We have a real problem with our laptop and if we ever get a full day, Don reluctantly wants to take everything off and reformat the hard disk.
I have my quilting group today and I am bringing a pile of books and magazine for everyone plus my featherweight to work on pot holders - sorta crazy designs. Mostly, chatting  It is just so dreadful to me thinking about leaving my quilt buddies. :'( I have always hoped that one of the children would be able to move closer to us but it just isn't going to happen and it is best for us to get situated before they bring us there in an ambulance.
Hi everyone. We had a good group a the Senior Center this morning and then my neighbor and I stopped at the gym and walked 10 laps. Unfortunately, I think I am going into one of those tired periods. I can always tell by the way my eyes feel. I had plenty of rest last night so know that isn't the problem. Fortunately I have nothing else on the schedule for today so can take it easy.
Al, cloning is where you attach a second hard drive and use a program that makes a duplicate copy of the first hard drive. The trick is that when that process is over you must shut the computer down again and switch the cabling from the original hard drive to the cloned one and have it boot. Then you can put the cables back on the original drive and put the cloned one one the shelf. If the original drive crashes you can just replace it with the cloned one and be back in business. I backup my file that I have created off site either on DVD, CD's or using a website called Mozy that allow you to backup on their server. I keep my pictures on Snapfish and on DVD/CD's and the same with my music files as these are the large files. I use a free problem from Western Digital for the cloning and it isn't hard but does require shutting down.
Jeannine, glad to see you are safely in Ireland. That is a place I would love to visit along with Scotland but never well as I am not in good enough help to even attempt it.
Janet, I am sure you must have to do a lot of lifting on your job and that can't be good for your hands and arms particularly with the problems you have had. I know you will hate to see Beth's friend leave.
Carol, I agree with you completely about locating where your children are close by. After the experience we had with my folks I have every intention of seeing that we are close to one of our children. Unfortunately, right now it is working the other way in terms of us needing to be close to our daughter. Unfortunately we always pay a price in leaving friends and activities that we have come to know and enjoy when we move but new friends and activities are available if we seek them.
Al, I may resemble Karmat's goat as well. Sure hope not however.
Karmat, I agree with you that most things can be done tomorrow if they don't get done today.
Marilyn, I agree with your approach as well. I sometimes make lists of things I want to get done. However, some of those items often get carried forward to the next list.
Scotty, it sounds like your grandfather must be a good cook. Do you like to cook?
Etta Sue, if you all mow at once then the noise from the mowers of the others mowing won't be a bother. Hope it is a good baseball game today and that Ivalou's grandson is on the winning team.

The little billboard above changes...keep watching!
Janet said...QuoteEtta Sue, it is so good to "hear" you back to your usual chipper, optimistic, happy self!
Believe you me, I am glad to be back also! Terrible sickness.
Well, Tony called last evening to see if I was going to be home. So he came and put on the second tire on the Craftsman. When asked if I owed him anything, he said he didn't have to be home for awhile. So I took him to Woody's at Lapel to eat. Woody's is a hole in the wall...nothing for ambience. But the food is good. I have never looked into the kitchen and I might not eat there if I ever did but, again, the food is good. ::) Tony got a big breaded tenderloin and I got a great hamburger!
I did mow yesterday with the Honda. It is slower and doesn't mow quite as well as the other but fun. Well, as fun as mowing could be, I guess. :idiot:
I am all ready for going to Ohio except getting dressed and going to Lapel for some money. Forgot to have Tony swing by the bank last evening.
So I may not be on here until Sunday evening... "++""++""++""++""++""++""++""++""++""++""++""++""++"

Hello friends,
I have been way from the forum for a little bit. I've been fighting some depression, :tissue: but at least I'm fighting and not just giving in, right? (It doesn't help that I'm a year older today...UGH! old goats, hu? I saw that post-pretty funny) I suppose getting older beats the alternative.
I decided to force myself to join in the "trees" mini challenge as part of my fight. I am bummed that my "natural welcome" photo had the bright green colors is should have, but something went wrong with the colors on upload/attachment, weird.
I am in prayer and the Word daily and I count my blessings each morning, but sometimes it just does not lift my mood, so I try to act as though I'm not depressed and hope the feelings will follow. Not too much luck, yet. So frustrating!
I have a new bird feeder and the birds make me smile, so that's a good thing.
I will be having lunch with my mother today and I think our family will be bowling tonight. Fun! I love to bowl.
I hope you all are well, considering present stresses and illnesses. You are in my prayers.
Blessings to you all,
Kathleen

We are supposed to have people coming in four minutes to dinner! So I will come back here later. Leaving in the morning for Texas........
Larry Hanna, I love to cook.
Etta Sue, Funny billboard.
Kathleen, sorry to hear about you depression. Hope you feel better soon.
I hope you all have a nice day.
How long will you be away, Janet?
Happy Birthday, Kathleen. I hope that you have a great day!
Nice to see you back Pat. Can relate to that tired feeling, tho' most of my travels have been in circles lately. ::)
Snow has finally departed....hopefully until next year. The sun has been out again, although the temps. are still cool for this time of year. Just knew it was wrong to press those light clothes a couple of weeks ago......
Another week and the hardwood will be completely installed. Another two weeks and the painters, electrician, etc. will be finished. My daughter has managed to charm most of the unpleasant guys and is exhausted from moving things around for the workmen. I keep cooking, cooking...will be happy when that is no longer my dept. After the workmen are finished, then comes the fun part of bringing things in from garage, etc. Cleaning all the furniture, washing all the china.....GAD! Life goes on.. the floors are lovely (what is done) and the house will be beautiful. The occupants will be a mess!
Janet, I am glad that Beth's friend has come to visit. She sounds like a sweet person. Will continue to pray for your daughter.
Marilyn, goodness, you surely do move fast. Hope things go well and it is nice that you are so happy.
I was given the latest AVG update as I am a subscriber, and it works like a charm. The new version is even better than the old, and that was the best I have ever used. Could not get my HP camera program to work most of the time. Then remembered that I had a Digital program with the Sony factory application disks. Had taken it off ages ago as didn't have a digital camera or scanner. So loaded up the Application Disks and re-installed it, along with a couple of other programs. Works like a charm, along with my Paint Shop Pro.
Wish I had remembered earlier, spent ages trying to get the downloaded HP working without sucess. They keep changing things for the newer cameras....
Time to go. Hope everyone has a Pleasant Day/Evening. I will go and vote on the many lovely pictures in a day or so...
God Bless.
Liz
My goodness, Liz. You've certainly been through a lot with the renovating going on in your home.
I do hope that you aren't too tired.
Happy Birthday, Kathleen!

Is it against the rules to use to many faces and things?
You're forgiven, Scotty!
HAHAHA!
Goodness, Scotty! That looks like a whole party there! :)
Pat, I will be away for about a week. I will send you a PM as soon as I post this message.
Becki (she told me she spells it with an i rather than a y) and Beth went to see Diane today. Tomorrow they are going to Garden City, one of the girls who works at the home will drive them; she says she is making 'brownie points' with Beth's Mom. And I said SHE SURELY IS! God bless her!
Our guests showed up, we ate--well everyone ate some, anyway. The two boys didn't eat much. One didn't like tomatoes, so he ate plain spaghetti, neither likes strawberries :o so they both ate plain ice cream. Neither one would touch their salad. Sigh... :-\ Then they all had to leave early because one of the boys was to baby sit his little brother. Well, next time will be at someone else's house! ;) Our turn is done for this quarter.
I still need to finish packing and am tired and so hoping for a good night's sleep. I will post if I can while I'm gone from home. Y'all be good---ALL y'all! ;) ^-^
Hi, friends,
Well, that proverbial "brick wall" hit ME (not the reverse) last night about 7 pm. Then, sadness in that we discovered a huge tumor in our dog's neck, so that kicked my son into a sobbing major depression attack with mom (me) holding him in my arms for aobut an hour at 3 am, then on to work and was surprised that the chairman announced my impending retirement during a staff meeting that I attended by long distance on the phone. Now - a MAJOR headache.
So, I'm going to find a quiet corner and try to let God pull me back together.
G'nite.

We went to the ball game. Erik pitched 7 innings. He was fine until the other team scored on his pitches. The final score was 9-8 with the other team winning. Seems if Erik had kept the other team scoreless, he would have broken a school record. Erik was mad at himself. It was 5-3 when Erik quit pitching with the Firebirds (his team) ahead. So he didn't lose the game.
We went back to Jo's house until the sun set and then stopped for something to eat. We didn't get home until 1am.
Then a tractor was disking at 8am and woke me up!!
I got some plants in the mail and need to get them in the ground today. But it is only 50° right now. A cold spell is coming through.MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM

Hi everyone. I had an fun morning doing something different. After an abbreviated coffee session a the cafe I went to the county senior center and participated in the Holeyboard game for the Senior Golden Games. I came in second in my age group so won a silver medal, which was a total surprise. There were probably 8 men in our age group but only three of us showed up to participate. I had never played the game before.
Not much else on the schedule for today. I have been enjoying some time at home the last few days without too many activities. Yesterday I did get my desktop computer hard disk cloned so have my computer spring maintenance done for this year.
Ruth Ann, it is tough when our pets are ill as we become so attached to them. You have a lot on your plate right now. Had it not been known in your company that you were planning on retiring?
Etta Sue, that sounds like it was an exciting game. Sure glad you are feeling better.
Janet, that must have been very annoying to have the two that wouldn't eat what you had prepared. Hope you and Darrel have a nice trip this next week. We will miss you.
Happy Birthday, Kathleen. I have never had any extended periods of depression so it is hard to relate. However, I guess sometimes we just have to keep going on as it sounds like you are doing. Hope the depression passes soon for you.
Liz, I hope your family will be satisfied with the results of all the work and that it doesn't do you all in. It sounds like it will be lovely when it is finished.
Hi Al, Pat and Scotty.
Good Morning. I am about to go curl my hair and get on about my shopping so I can get back and cooK the Lasagna for the church potluck at 4:00.
Not much new here this morning the sun is shining and it is a beautiful day for being outside. I should mow but if I don't then I will do it duringthe week if I have the time. It wil be a busy week and I am leaving Friday for Oregon again.
My left hand is hurting some today so I don'twant to irritate it any more than necessary.
TTYL
Hello everyone!
I just wanted to be sure to thank everyone for all of the birthday wishes. I loved the card from the community, cake on my profile, party of smilies from Scottyboy and all of the nice wishes for a happy birthday. I did have a wonderful day! :cheer:
Larry-I know this depression is temporary and I feel better today so I know that all of your prayers are helping me and I thank you for that. I think that as I go on this journey to worse and then renewed vision, Lord willing, that the depression will come and go along the way. Making sure I don't stay there is the key to dealing with it, I think.
Speaking of my eyes, I'm having a bad vision day today so I am just now on the computer for a bit to thank everyone and cannot read all the posts in detail, but I did skim over them. I'm sorry.
My hubby leaves to drive to Virginia Lakes, California to open ice fishing season with his brother at 3am tomorrow morning. I would appreciate prayers for his safety, if you wouldn't mind.
Have a wonderful Lord's Day tomorrow, friends!
Actually, they asked me not to tell even my assistant that does a daily report when I am not available that I am choosing retirement, Larry, so it really caught me by surprise!
And, immediately thereafter I got that blinding headache, so theorize that for some reason it really shot my blood pressure up.
At any rate, I was able to get some very healing sleep last night and until very late this morning. Then, had to go in to work so got there at 3:30 and left about 9:00, but in the quiet and cool afternoon, the Lord helped me figure out a very challenging programming situation that had me buffaloed since early March.
Isn't God good!
Samantha, depression is a very difficult thing to endure. I know, for I deal with it from time to time, also.
Pat, glad you're home safely.
Today's verse, "Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath: Neither give place to the devil." Ephesians 4:26-27/KJV
Is one that tells me it's OK to deal with anger, but not okay to become a sinner. Also, the admonition to not let the sun go down upon your wrath is a very wise one - the longer a problem simmers, it can fester into a bigger and bigger one until it really becomes a challenge to work with.
Thanks for participating here - God's blessings on all who come this way.
Hi everyone. We had some refreshing rain during the night and there is a chance we will have more today. Pat and I will go to church and then head to the subway station about 45 minutes away to pick up our daughter to go out to lunch and help you get a new TV set. She has worked overtime to save up the money for a new set that will get the digital signal. Her old set is many years old and the picture is fading. We are going to check out a store called BrandSmart that apparently has lots and lots of selection. I sure hope they have some of those electric riding carts as it is a huge store. We will then take her to her apartment and help her get it set up and dispose of the other one as she is not suppose to lift more than 7 pounds and I don't want her lifting. I am sure that will be a full day.
Kathleen, glad to read that you are feeling less depressed today. Hope your husband enjoys the ice fishing. Isn't it getting rather late in the season to be doing that? My nephew in Northern Iowa goes ice fishing but in the middle of winter.
Marilyn, hope you enjoyed the pot luck and got your yard mowed.
Ruth Ann, it is your company's responsibility for the impact of the announcement and not yours since they made the announcement. In my experience people approaching retirement and having made the announcement or having had it made for them could then enjoy the last weeks as they felt the burdens of the job being lifted from them. I doubt they will ever find another person as committed to the job as you have been. The work force has changed drastically since we started working as the mindset is quite different.
Hope everyone has a great day, I sure plan to as I worship and enjoy the beauty of his day.
Good Morning everyone. As I came back from walking me dogs yesterday afternoon Bill was mowing my front yard on his riding mower, he had already been next door and down the street mowing. I still need to mow the backyard.
About 35 people showed up for the potluck and that included the little kids, some one had purchased two boxes of chicken 96 pieces. The pastor had told everyone to bring enough to fee 8 people. Way too much food. I was not going to go but Willa bought me a frozen Lasagna and told me tat I was going. Well that was my last day at that church.
I turned in my keys to the kitchen and pantry, today I am going to Arcata First Baptist,. I may do some visiting elsewhere at another time. I know I need to find a church to attend when I am in Oregon. There is one directly behind Keith's house but I don't know what denomination it is yet. He will go to the church I choose, (not that denomination matters as long as it is spirit filled)
I better get busy here and get my breakfast.
Marilyn - you know you're always welcome at Sunnybrae Church. They don't do any dancing, but they are concerned for the pure Word of God.
I know Al Thank you. I will be looking around for a new church home.
Hello Everyone
I attended the funeral in Ottawa yesterday (about 400 km one way). We didn't get home till about 2:30 am!!! I'm so tired today. By the time I got to bed, etc. I just slept in this morning but will attend church tonight.

Church was awesome today. I don't like it when I have to miss like I did last week but I just couldn't go last week due to me being ill. When I left church I called Kitty to tell her I was on my way. I ate with her and Bob. Then Kitty and I went to Kokomo to the Award Ceremony where we each had three photos on display and brought our photos home.
We left there and browsed at Best Buy and salivated! I would love to have a printer that prints 11" x 15" photos. I would love to have a laptop. Wish! Wish! Wish!
Then going back to the car we both spotted a Chili's. We love Chili's chips and salsa. Best chips on earth!! I got Kitty home by 5:30.
I watered the flowers I put in the ground yesterday and now I am inside trying to get caught up on the computer so I can go watch TV. Last night was another sleepless night...I know it was after 1am when I finally went to la-la-land! SIN NO MORE SIN NO MORE SIN NO MORE SIN NO MORE
