JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Our snow is gradually leaving us - now we wait for the squishy ground to dry out and get green instead of brown - and for the buds to swell on the trees.   :D  Bright sunshine today and mid-40's for a high.  Promises are that tomorrow will be mid-50's here, (around 60 in Albany) but with 20's at night.  Dare I say that it does look like spring is on the way?   :)

Waiting for the same thing here, Jeanne.  There's a huge pile of snow on my deck where the sun doesn't shine much.

Our lawn/mud between the house and the driveway is just about clear.  Right now it is pretty much a mud bath.

I went into panic mode yesterday.  I had a duplicate picture and went to delete it.  Clicked delete and yes, and proceeded to loose ALL my pictures.  I was able to restore them however I have no idea why this happened, only one picture was highlighted.  Time to back them all up onto discs and protect them.  These included pictures from before we were married!...  Like I said panic city!

John is delivering tomorrow morning in Cedar Creek Iowa, He was informed of his backhaul before he left.  That was unusual, I suspect they know he is up to something and are uneasy as to what!  LOL Good to keep them guessing.

Here is the latest on Thomas.
QuoteThe past day and nights have been better for Thomas as he has slept better and been far less agitated during the day. His short term memory isn't great, so we keep re-orienting him during the day. We also try to monitor him and recognize that his agitation increases with over-stimulation and give him lots of breaks to rest quietly.
He did well in both physio and occupational therapy yesterday and has both of these again this afternoon.  The doctor visited this morning and reminded us that this will be a very long healing process.  Joe and I have accommodations in this building until the end of May, so are able to take sleep breaks as needed.
Keep sending those prayers and positive thoughts!  :)

Well I am off,  have a good night everyone!

Carol

Thank you for the lovely lilies - the wonderful promise flower.

Judy:  Oh, ugh to muddy springtime - it will pass quickly and everything will sprout so beautiful.  That is continued good news for your Thomas.  Each week seems to make him stronger.  There are memory exercises that can be helpful in the short term memory loss.

I almost took my morning vitamin instead of the nighttime calcium and 1/2 of a mild sleeping pill.  The sleeping pill is just enough to help me go back to sleep if I wake in the night but I sure have been "sawing logs" lately and sleeping through the night.  This weekend, I look forward to spending time with our good friend who was widowed last fall - just the two of us and Don will join us after two days.  We will fix biscuits and sausage gravy for her and another couple here first, then then drive to her house for two days where I hope to be of some help in sorting her late husband's effects.  Whatever she wants.

Yes, my church has always burnt the palms and used them for Ash Wednesday.  Well, we go to two different churches and one doesn't have that ancient custom.

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  It was a chilly morning but the sun is out and it is suppose to reach about 75 today.  I slept in this morning as have nothing on my schedule for today so am taking things at a slow pace.  Pat has a massage scheduled for 11 am.

Jeanne and Pat, glad your spring seasons will soon be with you.  Most of our trees are fully leafed out, some of the early flowers have finished their season and the azaleas are in full bloom.    I certainly hope all of our freezing weather is over this spring.

Judy, glad you didn't lose your pictures and that was certainly a wake up call to backup your pictures. Thanks for the update on Thomas.  It is hard to imagine such an ordeal as his parents are experiencing.

Carol, nice of you to help your friends start some of the sorting that is involved in the passing of a loved one.  Our church uses the palm fronds but they are not burned as a part of the Easter service although they are burned later to be used on Ash Wednesday.

I heard about the "Heart Bleed bug" on the news last night.  This is so serious that CRS has shur down all out and in going information.  Information can be found here.  The CRS is the Canadian equivalent to the IRS.  This is not good news.

I am heading out shortly, we have a windy day however the current temperature is about 57F outside.  The wind is thankfully drying things up.

I leash Zeke when he goes outside unsupervised.  Last week John told me that hook on the end of the leash was broken, still frozen in the ground though.  Today he managed to get the leash free and was having a gay old time outside.  I called him in and in he comes soaked to the skin, dirty but happy!  He has eaten and is now sleeping!

Have a great day folks!

I read a post of Janet's on Facebook....Let us unite in prayer for Darrel!

QuoteWell, today hasn't gone as planned, for sure. Darrel is so listless, and Kristi (exercise guru) suggested it might be a blood problem. So I talked to the doctor who ordered more blood and urine samples. They called a while ago and said Darrel needs to come to the ER every day for the next five days for IV fluids, that he is still dehydrated. I have really been pushing water at him, too. Only 15 days until we leave, so please, all of you who believe in God's power to heal, please pray for him. We will appreciate it so much!

Ruth Ann Bice

Hi, friends,

Goodness, Janet and Darryl are having quite a difficult time. My prayers go out for them.

That Heart Bleed computer virus sounds terrible. Yes, I figure we all need to go about changing passwords, etc.

It's a great thing, I think, to remember the ancient rituals, as long as "ritual" is not the only means of worship in a church. I like a bit of spontaneity also. I think our Lord, at times, acted spontaneously, as the situation dictated.

Sorry you almost got mixed up on your meds, Carol. Y'all certainly have been busy lately!

It's nice there's a pharmacy here in Nashville that will sort and package the medications I take and label them, so there's no mix-up on which medicine I'm to take at a certain time of the day. I chose to use that pharmacy solely because I know as I continue to age, I could get forgetful. So, I'm trying to be proactive on preventing problems. :)

Well, I must close, y'all have a good rest of the day.

Hey!  I'm back!  Thanks to Pat, I'm back.

Judy, thanks for updating the folks here on Darrel.  It is disappointing, but I know God is in control and fully believe Darrel will be healed and strong in time to go on the trip.  I'm glad we do have the insurance that will allow us to get a full refund if we have to cancel, but am really hoping we won't need to do that.

I've spent too much time reading all the posts I missed for the past almost two weeks, so will keep this short and try to fill you in later.  So good to have Zeebers post and know she is doing well and still serving God.

I love you all, and will be back!

Janet, of course you and Darrel are, and will be, in my prayers.  I hope you don't have to cancel your trip, but maybe this is God's way of preventing it for some reason.

Hi everyone.  Another beautiful day here in Georgia and headed to 75 degrees this afternoon.  Nothing special for today as plan to stay home the rest of the day as I think Pat will.  She is watching quilting videos on my Ipad this morning.

Judy, I haven't heard anything about our Federal agencies shutting down their websites.  Fortunately we have received both our Federal and State Income Tax refunds.  Nice temperature you had yesterday.  I bet you made Zeke's day by letting him out and being free of the leash. Thanks for posting Janet's Facebook message as hadn't seen it.  Dehydration can sneak up on us as we get older.

Ruth Ann, I used a program called LastPass to store my passwords and it has the ability to analyze your password and tell you the ones in danger and also another tool that tells you if any of the sites have been compromised. I need to delete a lot of mind that I don't use anymore and change some of the passwords. That is a nice service your pharmacy provides.

Janet, so glad to see you back in CP. Darrel will probably see big improvement after the IV's. Glad the problem showed up now and not when you are on your upcoming trip.  It sounds like you made a wise purchase of the trip insurance.  I did that also when Pat's sister came down for Stacey's memorial as she isn't very well and the weather was certainly a factor in February.

Ruth

A lovely day here in southern Ontario.

I have done the catchup reading and  now will continue with some of my other chores. I.e. watch Mel do some tree trimming with is cleanup from the winters big ice storm.

Time for lunch so y'all have a great day.

Larry I have installed Lastpass, not to figure out how it works.  It seems to automatically remember all the passwords and every site automatically logs you in.  Very good as I keep forgetting the passwords as I have several and forget which applies to what site!  LOL I think that is called oldtimers!

Ruth Ann Bice

Well, I certainly need LastPass. That sounds like a very good program to have.

Also, Janet, it's good to see you back in fine form. :)  The trip insurance is a wonderful idea.

Hi, Ruth, it surely is nice when we can watch someone else work! ;)

I was able to help a relative get on a waiting list for an apartment. It will be so helpful to her when she can get moved.

Love to all who come here, either to comment or to read.

I also use Last Pass and I like it very much. I was supposed to take the dogs to the vet this morning but had to change the appointments to next week because when I got up this morning I went into my normal routine mode and fed them. Happy was to have a fasting blood draw the check his thyroid and liver functions.

It is a such a beautiful day here today, and would be a nice day to go to the beach to take pictures. I do want to get more reading dne in my bood and get back to crocheting on the baby afghans for the twins, I have completed on set and started the other set. They are due in July unless they come early.

Praise the Lord, after just the first IV infusion, Darrel is feeling so much better!  I am relieved and greatly encouraged.  God still and always is an answerer of our prayers!  Thank you to all who did pray for him.

We are going to a play in Dodge City tonight with friends.  It's always a fun evening.  Then tomorrow my friend Pat and I are going to Garden City, as Darrel feels enough better to go by himself for his next IV treatment.I do believe I will drag out the suitcases and start packing on Sunday afternoon!  :)   :D   8)

I guess there is no point in telling you the long story of last week, when Darrel was desperately sick and I was in Moscow taking care of the adorable little great-granddaughters.  My sister Jeanie came to my rescue and I was able to get home and get him into the hospital, then Diane took over the kid-sitting until Toni's grandma could take them.  What a stressful time that was.  BUT GOD....oh, how I love those two words!  BUT GOD always leads to a good conclusion.

I'm so happy Pat was able to help me get back in here as a MEMBER!  I was feeling really sad and missing all of you!

I must run, see you later!

Hi, Janet and Marilyn (and anyone else reading at this odd hour of the night...) :)

It's good to know you use LastPass, too, Marilyn. I feel much more comfortable with it now.

Y'all have a good night.

Good morning everyone!  Unusual that I am the first one here!

Looks like we are in for another beautiful day. However there is a snow/blizzard warning out for tomorrow evening and Monday.  At least we can see signs of spring!

I listened to an episode of Adventures in Odyssey this morning.  I forgot how much fun and educational they can be!

Have a great day everyone!

Hi everyone.  Another lovely morning here in Georgia, sunny and to be warm today. I enjoyed coffee with the men today, filled the car with gas (a quick way too spend $50) and in a few minutes I will leave to attend a meeting.  That will be it for the day.

Ruth, don't envy Mel in doing the cleanup from the ice storm.

Judy, with Last Pass you really only need to remember your master password and it should be typed using the  "show keyboard button" under the sign in box.  That way should you have a keylogger active on your computer your password wouldn't be comprised by the key entry using the computer keyboard.  I just learned this today.  Your passwords are heavily encrypted and stored away from your computer in the cloud so they will be available at another computer simply by signing in with your master password.  Let me know if I can help you with any specific questions concerning using the software.

Ruth Ann, hope your friend doesn't have to wait too long for an apartment.  Will this be in your same building? If you do some reading of the computer newsletter from Kim Komando or some of the other writers they all praise LastPass.

Marilyn, it is easy to get into a routine and do it without thinking much about it such as feeding your dogs first thing in the morning.

Janet, so glad Darrel is feeling better.  Glad things worked out for you last week but wow, how stressful.

Jeanne Lee

An absolutely beautiful weekend here.  Should be up close to 70 both today and tomorrow, and maybe even Monday.  We may have some rain, but that's OK - much better than ice and snow.     But then Tuesday and Wednesday back to the low 50's and below freezing at night.  Oh, well.

Ruth

A beautiful day here in Southern Ontario.

Ruth Ann: I trust that your friend does not have to wait long.
Janet: My wish is that Darrel continues to improve.
Pat: Are you seeing that Advertisements are attaching to some of the posts.

As Judy said hackers getting into the government info makes you wonder how private is our info.

Larry:   About what seems like pain in my knees is really coming from my hip. I will now be having a hip replacement not knee and the pain is getting worse by the day.  I had a second opinion and it was this surgeon that did further checking to find out the source of the problem.  In my opinion you should have both the knees and hip ex-rayed to really know what and where  the problem is. I had also asked to see the X-rays. I might still need to have a knee replacement but for know the hip is worse. Muscle pain in the groin is most likely the hip area.

A few minutes ago the girl guides came to the door selling cookies  I remember paying .50 cents a box to now $5.00 wow.
In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.  Proverbs 3:6

Larry Hanna

Ruth,  my wife had the same experience as she thought she needed a knee replacement as she had on the other knee.  The X-rays showed it was her hip and thus the hip replacement which took care of the knee pain.

Jeanne, nice to hear of your 70 degree days.

JudyB

Ruth I spoke to Scotiabank yesterday and they have put up extra firewalls and are sure they are safe the Heart Bleed bug hasn't touched them.  I was told that it was more the social networking like facebook and others where the problem is.

JudyB

Ruth sorry about your hip.  Is a surgery date set?

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  It is a bit overcast this morning Palm Sunday morning but going to get in the high 70's this afternoon.  Nothing has happened since I wrote yesterday.  I will go to church this morning but not out to lunch as Pat isn't going. I will watch some more of the Master's Golf Tournament this afternoon and rest.  I expect by now everyone has heard about the Heartbleed bug.  The head of the computer club sent out this link yesterday that was helpful to know which sites have been impacted.  http://mashable.com/2014/04/09/heartbleed-bug-websites-affected/
