JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Morning Devotional...

                                    RESURRECTION LIFE

"Now upon the first day of the week, very early in the morning, they came unto the sepulchre, bringing the spices which they had prepared, and certain others with them. And they found the stone rolled away from the sepulchre. And they entered in, and found not the body of the Lord Jesus."
(Luke 24:1-3)

Truly, it's time for us to stop looking for the living among the dead. It's time for us to stop wandering around in the cemetery of sin, sickness and failure and to step into resurrection life!

As a resurrected creature, you're no accident going somewhere to happen. Your life isn't just a loose web of events and circumstances. God has specific plans for you.

Maybe He intends for you to have the greatest healing ministry of this century. Or perhaps He wants to turn you into a tremendous preacher. Maybe He has a revelation prepared for you that will enable you to bless the whole world. But you'll never know what He has in store for you until you put your attention on Him.

That's why the devil works hard to keep you focusing on the problems of life. That's why he tries to keep your attention turned away from the living Word of God. He doesn't want you to know you're full of the resurrection life of Jesus. In fact, the prospect of it terrifies him.

Why? Because once you truly understand that you have the life of God inside you, you'll begin to act just like Jesus did. You'll lay hands on the sick and they'll recover. You'll cast out demons. You'll preach the gospel to every creature.

In short, you'll be just what God intended you to be. You'll be the Body of Christ on the earth.

Don't let Satan bind you with the grave clothes of yesterday's sin and defeat. You're not dead anymore. You've been raised with Jesus. Come out from the tombs and start living resurrection life!

Thank you Janet for the devotional.

Our service this morning was very touching and sobering. Pastor Danny' showed a music video that used part of the passion of the Christ as the  video part.  The crucifixion part anyway. I was called into service as one of those to serve communion. The children were all so cute in the angel costumes that I made and with all the colored lights on them they sure stood out. It was so hard to get the red eyes out of the photos, some still have them. I forgot to set my flash to "red eye"

Fay and I ate Chinese for lunch then we had a little ice cream and shared a cupcake for desert at her house.  No I didn't pig out.

I would like you all to know that the dress I wore today was a 12/14 and I still had room in it. My size 16  was way too big. I wasn't sure the 12/14 would still fit as I haven't worn it for a long time. Was I ever surprised. I have lost 6 lbs so I weigh 174 again, but I have also lost 3½ inches and firmed up.

I  hope you all go to lood at the cute photos of the children that I have posted

:)Congratulations on the weight loss Marilyn, I know you are proud of that achievement!  I'm still working out but not as much, (remodeling the kitchen is exercise in itself!)  So far I've lost about 7 lbs and went down 1 dress size.

Not been posting much, but reading every day, and praying for those with needs.

May God bless each one who comes through today.

I have read all the wonderful posts but no time to comment.  I am out the door in a few minutes.  Dentist!  Then this evening is Photography Guild.

At least it is warmer today.  Some.  33°!!  Dark and gloomy.  A great day to stay inside if I could.

Hi everyone.  It looks like I am first to post today.

Not much to write about.  Went to the cafe for coffee as usual this morning and now have the entire day ahead of me with nothing that particularly has to be done or anyplace where I need to go.

Marilyn, it looks like you did a very nice job on the costumes.  I am sure you are glad that project is over as it looks like it was a lot of work.

It is still very chilly here but think it is now above freezing and hopefully our freezing weather is over for this season.  My good friend, Rod, and his wife are headed to the North Carolina beach for a week.  His brother-in-law has a timeshare week there and they were invited to join them.  The man I pick up for coffee each morning is on his way to Pittsburg to visit family and will be gone for several days.

Thinking and praying for Nards and Karmat today.

Hope everyone has a nice day.

Hi, friends,

Happy Monday to you! My hand stitches are out and I'm to return to work 1/2 days beginning tomorrow. Next surgery Mary 10th.

It was a wonderful weekend in Atlanta with the kids. My son was ill so I went alone.

I've appreciated the good messages, and am thankful to hear from each of you.

Will be praying for Bernard's surgery, and also for those who are surrounding him with love and also with medical skill and attention.

The poetry is good, and forces me to slow down and visualize what the poet is talking about.

I hope to get a photo or two scanned so someone can post them for me. That wonderful Christmas celebration made for a wonderful packet of pictures my daughter in law had made for me. I enjoyed going through them again this morning while waiting for the doctor's appointment.

Much love to all,

Ruth Ann

I think I messed up last evening when posting the new Thoughts.  Larry and Ruth Ann posted on last week's (because of my mistake) so I have attempted to copy and paste their replies here.  If someone more knowledgable than me (nearly anybody fits that category!) wants to straighten things out, be my guest.  I have locked the door there now, sorry I forgot to do that last night.  :-[  :(

I am not feeling well today, think a cold and sore throat is trying to get me.  I am trying to outrun it, though, but feel as if I ran all night.  Very little sleep, so am tired.

Errands to run, back later.  Thanks for your patience.

Is this an April Fool's joke?  Larry, you have turned into Janet.... :D

Larry:  What a nice day for you.  We should all set aside a do nothing day & enjoy it.

Today, the weather is beautiful.  We had to cancel Easter with the children yesterday with ice on the roads and perhaps we were too skittish about it but...after seeing tragedy on the freeway & hearing about oldest son almost rolling his Bronco on sudden ice - we were quite unnerved and called everyone not to come.  Drat is all.

Maryilyn:  Congratulations especially on your lost inches.  I have started (2nd time today) a class in Deep Water Aerobics & it is exhausting but should help if I can keep on with it.

Don is having printer problems & may have to order a part - the printer sat for a month & we can't get it to work properly - it is the little one we take on trips.

Must do something.  Carol

Pat

Hello everyone...

I do hope you all had a lovely Easter with family and friends.

I got home very late last evening from my son's.  If I had been driving I would have left earlier but it was after midnight when we pulled into my driveway.

So strange to have a GREEN Christmas and a WHITE Easter!  But that's how we had it this year.

Ahhhh...

I finally found where this was hiding.  I found today's "Thoughts" in the Prayer and Praise area.

I'll get it moved out of here to the right place in a jiffy.

:)Good evening to you all.  Again I just got caught up on all the postings as it seems that the days seem to disappear so fast. Our easter weekend was a very busy one with our kids and some family came to our place for dinner and we had a wonderful time with them.
The services at our church and at an other one were fantastic.  The one that we went to on Sunday night was a joint service of about 13 churches in the city of  Welland and the testimonies were powerful and so was the music and message.  God still reigns and he has risen.

Etta Sue: Thank you for your devotional last time and always encourageing words.  Your animation of the giraffe brings back many memories of the days when I did bus tours through the place up in Canada called African Lion Safaria and I had the giraffes come up to my small window and lick my hand through it but I would cheet sometimes and have a banana.

Karmat and Nards.  You are in our prayers and will be in our thoughts this Wednesday  Bernard keep the faith baby.

Jane I hope that you are well and that your strength will get better. It is great to meet new people and it does take a while to feel comfortable but the Lord always puts us in the right place. Belated birthday.

Jeannine and Michael: Will be thinking about you and praying for your husband

Judy B. : How it going up north and hope that you don't get to much rain as it can get sloppy.  <3

Pat:  How are you doing hope that your health is getting stronger.  Stop staying out so late at night trying to burn the candle at both ends.  Love ya. <3

Al:  How are you hope all is well and that you are also looking after your health.

Larry: also good day to you . All is well up in Canada and I think that we have had our last snow I hope God bless.

Janet: Hope that darrel is o.k. and also that you are looking after your selve.

Shutterbug and Mom :  Please know that God will be with you and he has told us in his word. My wife claims his protectionas she has cronic back painso keepthe faith. :)

Ruth ann: Praying for your medical needs and its great to here the things that we are able to talk about openly  then we are able top pray much better for them. God bless you.

Carol:  It must have beengreat to see all the  ELK it is also greathow the Lod shows us where the right group is that he wants us to go to.

Kevin:  How are you beautiful graetings.  Have not heard from you for a long time via email.

Colin:  The poem's were beautiful and it is something that I wish I always could have done. Time is flying buy and hope that we can meet up in Ireland.

He's ALIVE AND PRAISE HIS NAME FOREVER.

Good evening all!  Today has been a long day.  Bernard had pre-op today, and then we were trying to do some errands before wednesday.

Travis had been sick all day (fever, etc), so while I was running errands with Kristi, Bernard called the pediatrician.  My phone rang and he said that the dr. would see him in 30 minutes.  I was 20 minutes from home, and we live 30 minutes from the dr.  We were late, but we got there.  Travis has strep throat.  My initial concern was for Bernard, but the nurse said that if he was going to get it, it was already "growing.'  however, he will be on antibiotics for the surgery, so that will take care of it.  her greater concern was kristi and me.

(I interrupt this saga to apologize for the lack of caps.  i promise I'm aiming for the shift key :/ ).

so.  Such is life I suppose.  I've gone from the "scared" stage to the "overwhelmed" stage and when i become overwhelmed, i consciously make myself take one day (hour) at a time, and deal with things in little bitty steps.

Thanks for praying.  I'll keep you updated. ;0

Etta Sue

Gosh, I think I am first today and it is almost 10am!!

I have already been to the doctor's office where the nurse took some of my blood.  It was a zip this time.  Ever since I was told to hydrate myself with liquids and tell the nurse to use small needles, it has been a breeze getting my blood.  Keeps my blood pressure down also... ;)

Then I went to Perkin's for breakfast since I didn't have breakfast this morning.  Breakfast out is my favorite meal out.  I sure don't fix eggs and bacon for myself for breakfast!

Nards ~ I am praying for you for tomorrow and for a fast, quick no-nonsense recovery!!

Now I am doing laundry and watching the sun shine.  But it is deceiving...only 33°F out there!  All the grass was frosted white when I left home 2½ hours ago!

Everyone have a Blessed Day!

@_@_@_@_@_@_@_@_@_@_@_@_@_@_@

Al Moak

Etta Sue - hope the blood test turns out well.  With me the person drawing the blood has to try both arms first - only one will be easy.  Certainly pray for Bernard.  Our dear Father in heaven has you right where He wants you, and He's watching over you with absolute and merciful control.  Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits.
Thankfully, I seem to be well today, but Marbeth has a very heavy cough, etc.  We thought she had gotten over a cold, but either it came back or a new one came on.

Janet

Happy Tuesday, everybody.  Still cold here, cloudy, but the sun peeks through intermittently.

I finally gave up and called for a doctor's appointment.  My efforts to treat myself don't seem to be having the desired effect, or at least not quickly enough to suit me.  And I don't want Darrel to get a cold and sore throat on top of his other problems.  They can't see me until 3:15, so I will help Darrel hang a big outdoor camera before then.  He can't use his left arm for overhead work.

Karma, I pray little Travis will feel better very quickly.  Sore throat pain is just awful.  I had tonsillitis so often when I was a kid, and still get it sometimes.  Never had strep throat that I can remember, though.  Prayers are still going up for your family from my corner of Kansas.  <3

Etta Sue, glad the phlebotomist got your blood easily. That has only been a problem for me once, and it was the girl, not my veins.  I sure wouldn't like getting stuck more than once.  Hope whatever the tests are, that you get a good report.

Pat, I hope you are feeling much better by now.  Love you!

Hi everyone.  It is absolutely glorious here in Georgia today with beautiful clear air and warmer temperatures.  Hope that spring is back to stay.

Not much happening here today beyond the usual activites for a Tuesday.

Karmat, been thinking of you and Bernard today and certainly will be tomorrow.  Sorry to read that Travis has strep throat.  I don't think I have ever had it either.

Janet, sorry to read you are not feeling up to par and hope the doctor will be helpful.  I have to admit I was shocked to see my postings under your name but understand what happened and it certainly isn't anything to be concerned about.  I appreciate your doing the devotional and being so faithful to follow through with it.

Marilyn, congratulations on your health improvement and diet efforts.  It sounds like it is really paying off for you.

Samanta, it sounds like congrations are also applicable to you as well.

Ruth Ann, glad you had a nice weekend here in Atlanta with your family and that you now have the stitches out from your surgery.  It is always good to get back to our work as well.

Carol, it seems that something related to the computer or the peripherals is always needing attention.  Guess that is what keeps them interesting.

Pat, this weather has been very strange this spring.

Gord, your combined church service on Sunday evening sounds like it was a very powerful.  Were all of these churches of your denomination or were others represented?

Al, sure hope Marbeth is feeling better soon.  A nagging cough is always very unpleasant.

Marilyn

Thank you all who commented on my sewing efforts and photos of the Easter Pageant.  I recently bought an MP3 player and Gilbert is going to bring over some of his Cd's for me to rip. He also got me to a website for MP3's that doesn't have all the usual garbage that come with those kind of sites. It is www.limewire.com

I took Ruth to the Beauty school in Eureka to have her hair done this morning then we went to lunch.  When I go back at 4 I will be cooking a pizza for her and fixing a quiche for her to have tomorrow for breakfast.

Thanks Larry for saying something about my health and  diet program. I feel so good, so energized and so healthy. I think  it has a lot to do not only with the diet and exercise but also the supplements that I take. My diet is really just being careful what I eat and  very few carbs, lots of veggies and protein, protein drinks and protein bars between meals. I am due for a lipid panel blood draw soon, just to check on my cholesterol. I am not even concerned about it. It won't be high. I am not taking anything to keep it down anymore I took Niaspan for 3 months and that brought it down. Niaspan is  prescription Niacin so my prescription drug insurance pays for it. My copay is $3.10

Gotta go now.

:)   Hi to all  today was the day that I go to do volunteer at the mission and because we were closed yesterday for the easter holidays it was very busy.  But still a blessing to be able to serve people who need the help.  PRAISE THE LORD.

Larry:  The services on Sunday that you asked about were different chuch denominations and I think that this was the first time that they have done this on Easter Sunday and again it sure was very exciting and the Holy Spirit was sure in that place. HE HAS RISEN.  :)

God bless you all this week.

Should be asleep right now, :) but here I am.  Bernard's catheterization today went well -- he has good internal heart pressure and no artery disease, so the surgery is a go.  I don't know that a bad report would have stopped it, but now the cardiologist feels fairly sure that the surgery will go very well.  He's a bit sore, and nervous, right now, but definitely ready for this thing to be over with.

Me?  i need chocolate.  :P

later, guys.

Pat

Awwwwww ... Karma, wish I could personally deliver you some chocolate.  I've been praying for you all off and on during today and will do so tomorrow.

I'd like to request prayer for our Judy McKenna.  I took her to Hamilton today and the news wasn't good about her right hip.  She will be having more surgery in about 2 weeks time and no guarantees for her to be able to ever walk again.

Me?  I've kind of fed up resting.  Know the feeling?  But I feel I need it so much with this virus.  Spoke to a friend here in Guelph whose wife has a simlar virus and she's had it since Feb. 2 and no let up is in sight.

Talk to you tomorrow.

Hope you are starting to feel better, Janet

Also, Marilyn, wish I could say I've lost weight!  ;)

Karma and Nards, I pray that all goes well today!

Now must shut the computer down and head for sleep.

Larry Hanna

Good morning everyone.  We are getting some drizzle this morning and suppose to have a chance for some thunderstorms this afternoon.  We sure need the rain and I have been counting on some rain in April as the lawn service applied preemergent onto the lawn and it was suppose to be watered within 10 days.  My kind neighbor offered to water it for me as I am just not up to dealing with the hose and doing the watering.  Now that won't be necessary.

Karmat, I understand how Bernard feels after the angiogram he had yesterday.  I have had the catheter inserted over 25 times.  While it is not something I have ever looked forward to you do recover from it with just probably some bruising and soreness.  I know you both are looking forward to the beginning of the healing following the surgery.

Pat, you are certainly having a hard time getting over this virus.  Thanks for the info on Judy Mc.  I am so sorry to hear that once again she faces more surgery and perhaps won't be able to walk again.  That is very daunting.

Gord, glad your churches were able to get together.  We have 4 or 5 churches that have an annual Thanksgiving service and we have a combined choir.

Today is Bible study with our pastor.  We are into our last two weeks of study of the Book of Revelations.  It has been an interesting series of studies.

Time to go to coffee.

karmat

We are at the hospital.  nards is feeling pretty good right now,and i'm doing okay, too.  Just waiting for now.

thanks for the prayers.

Etta Sue

I woke up thinking, April 11.  Nards!  It's today!  Nards, you are in God's hands and the surgeon is guided by God's hands.  What better hands to be in?  You will be fine.  Just don't rush the recovery!!  Ya hear?

Also today would have been my husband's 77th birthday.  That seems old to me since he was 61 when he passed away.

My blood draw was for my yearly routine blood tests...lipid, glucose, thyroid, protein, postassium, etc.

Today is Red Hat's Day.  And I was going to mow this afternoon BUT it is raining.  So no mowing today.

Yesterday my dryer quit on me.  I hung clothes outside on the line.  They didn't get all dry so I have a clothesline here in the computility room and hung some things there.  Also a hanger on my bedroom door for clothes hangers.  This morning all was dry and the dryer repairman is to be here tomorrow between 9:30 and 10am.  It is just dead.  Nothing.  Hopefully it is just a fuse but I know nothing about it so I have to pay someone that does know.

I have to get outta here.  Time to get dressed in my red and purple!!

^+^+^+^+^+^+^+^+^+^+^+^+^+^+^+^+^+^+^+^+^+^+^+

Janet

I'm stopping in to assure Karma and Nards of my continued prayers.  I feel in my heart that all will go well, but will be very happy to read a good report later.

Pat, so sorry you are still feeling bad, and sorry to read about poor Judy Mc.  She's certainly had more than her share, hasn't she?

Larry........25 times???  :o  Goodness!  I hope Darrel doesn't have to have the cath thing done any more.

I'm feeling really lousy.  Doc said sinus infection, gave me antibiotic and inhaler, told me to drink lots of liquids.  I sure hope it doesn't hang on like Darrel's did!  And I know it is minor, compared to others' problems.  :-\

I'm heading to the shower, see if that will maybe make me feel more human.

Let's pray right now for Bernard...

Had an email from Karma and he's in surgery right now!

"Click for Waterloo Wellington, Ontario Forecast"

karmat

they got a late start, but the chaplain just came down and updated me.  The patch is in and they are currently "warming" the heart and taking him off the heart-lung machine right now.

(time passes-- like 10 minutes)
I just talked to the surgeon.  the hole was actually the size of a half-dollar (quite a bit bigger than they thought) and the right ventricle was twice as large as the left (not good).  However, by the time the surgery was over, it had already started shrinking back to the normal size, so there is an excellent chance of a complete recovery.

So, now he is waking up,and I will get to see him within the hour.

K.

Jane Walker

Karma I am so thankful that the surgery is over and there are signs of a complete recovery.  Now you go and be with Nards and let him know we have been praying and believing with you all .... Take care of yourself now, my friend, and get some rest ... you as well as Trav and Kristi, need it. <3
Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass .... it's about learning to dance in the rain!
