JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

As I read about Nards' results I thought of a hymn - because it's our Lord Who has held Nards in His hands every moment.

The God of Love My Shepherd Is
(Click to hear music)

The God of love my Shepherd is,
And He that doth me feed:
While He is mine and I am His,
What can I want or need?

He leads me to the tender grass,
Where I both feed and rest;
Then to the streams that gently pass,
In both I have the best.

Or if I stray, He doth convert,
And bring my mind in frame;
And all this not for my desert,
But for His holy Name.

Yea in death's shady, black abode
Well may I walk, not fear,
For Thou art with me, and Thy rod
To guide, Thy staff to bear

Surely Thy sweet and wondrous love
Shall measure all my days;
And as it never shall remove,
So neither shall my praise.
Amen.

I got to see bernard.  he looked really good, and was doing really good (though he obviously felt like anything that is not good.  He came to recovery from surgery with fewer tubes than most open heart patients, he came off the ventilator quicker, and was responding well.  His color is good, and the nurse felt he would move to a regular room early in the morning.

When he moves, visitors are welcome, though they may limit how many at a time.

It is about time for me to go back up for a few minutes, so I'll sign off for tonight.  Thanks for the prayers!

How wonderful to hear that Nards is doing so well, Karma! Thanks be to God.

I caught a cold from Kassie and, of course, it progressed to such hard coughing, etc., that I was glad today was a scheduled 3 month checkup. So, I "donated" blood and will hear the results in a few days. And, he prescribed an antibiotic, saying that my vocal chords are inflamed, too. Ah, well, it's just as good that I can type with my "soprano" voice, even though in person I'm a deep bass right now. :)

I'm so sorry about Judy's upcoming operation. How difficult life has been for her recently!

Y'all have a really good evening.

Ruth Ann

Oh, how wonderful to read your update, my friend!  Oh, what good news!  And while I was reading your update, I started to hum a hymn and would you believe it was the one that Al posted?

What a wonderful Saviour!

Hope you get some rest tonight now.

Luvyu!

WOW - we have been gone for two days and so much happening here.  We stayed over at son's house last night after going to a band concert to watch 5th. and 6th. graders - over 200 of them and they were so good.  They played a lively "Louie Louie" and last was best, "America the Beautiful".  Fantastic

But - back to the posts here:

Ruth Ann:  It must feel better to have your hand stitches out.  Hope healing is progressing well.

Karma:  Love the technology that you can be in the waiting room sending messages to all - things are looking very good for you two on Nards recovery.

Gordon:  We love to see all the animals - they are our gifts, are they not?  Your Easter combined service sounds wonderful to me.  We felt really lost when the weather here was so bad that we had to cancel driving & having the children visit but had been able to get to the special Saturday night service.  Nice to see you posting.

Al:  Thanks for the beautiful song.  I hope you are well and not having any foot swelling problems.

Pat:  Just sick at heart to learn that Judy McKenna may have another surgery.  How about you, are you feeling better?

We drove home today and stopped at a neat shop that sells cheese from all over the world, it is so cold that they give you a jacket to go into the refrigerated area.  Came home with a small bag - we are having a couple over for dinner tomorrow night and now we have samples of cheese before dinner.  We hope that everything goes well - a winter storm is headed this way beginning tomorrow night.  Expecting company for a couple of days & they should arrive Sunday afternoon if the drive is alright for them from Arizona to their home in Minnesota.  I am dizzy from talking - we have had everyone coming this month and three more couples to visit.  It is a blessing that people want to see us!

:)  Hi to all.  KARMAT.   Praise the Lord for Nard's coming through this surgery so well and we will continue to remember him  please l let him know that we are all thinking about him and that the Lord will give him strength daily.

PAT: Sorry to here about Judy having to have more surgery and its good that she has such a great friend as you.  Look after yourself and continue to get well.

To all others that post today have a great day and may the Lord be with you all. <3

Good morning!!!!!

Bernard was in a lot of pain last night, but managed a smile or two and the nurses were amazed at how well he was doing.  He is supposed to go to a "regular" room sometime this morning.

Last night, he was complaining of pain, and I asked, "where does it hurt?"  I was thinking if he was having arm or leg pain, I may need to get the nurse.  He said, "Right down the middle of my chest."  :)  yea, it's supposed to do that.

The weather is finally getting "normal" here, so maybe Spring is here.  Hope all have a wonderful day!!

Marilyn

Praise the Lord that Bernard is coming along just fine.

Thank God that He was concentrating on the happenings in WNC yesterday.  God is good always!  Sounds like Nards will kicking up his heels in no time!  Karma, get ready!  There will be no holding him back.

Well, while waking up this morning, I could hear the wind.  That's hard to do in this house.  When I got up, I noticed it was snowing!!  On April 12!!  No accumulation but snowing.  It is cloudy and in the 40's but it is nippy outside because of the strong winds.

Last night Indiana had two tornadoes touch down.  One was next to a long-time friend of Kitty's.  I was at the friends house last week.  But the tornado only took a tree in her front yard.  A neighbor lost his roof.  But with both tornadoes there was no injuries.  Thank God.

I am waiting on my dryer repairman.  He should be here any minute!

God Bless You All (Ya'll)

Whooppeeee!  I am now sitting in Bernard's room.  He's drowsy, and trying to sleep, and said he wasn't very good company, but I'm just glad to be able to stay with him now.  He's talked to the dr. and just gave me a thumbs up when I asked what he said, so i am assuming between that and the report from the nurses that all is going very well still.   Thank you so much for your prayers.

Etta, I'm so glad Kitty's friend was okay, and the losses weren't greater.  Tornadoes scare me.  Of course most major storms do.  Here in the Appalachians, we don't get a lot of the big stuff you all do.  An occassional hurricane (haha -- usually a lot of wind and rain) passes over and there have been tornadoes, but they are just breezes compared to the midwest.  ;P

Take care.  I have a feeling I'll be online a lot today simply because I'm just sitting here.

Janet

Karma and Nards, just reading about the lead up to the surgery, and how your faith is sustaining you, and now the wonderful results, is a real booster to my faith, and an upper for my whole week!  GOD IS SO GOOD!!  HE GIVES GOOD GIFTS, IN GOOD WAYS, AND LOVES US ALL SO MUCH!!  Yes, I could shout it from the housetops!

Carol, good to have you back.  You must be a fantastic hostess, to have so much company.  Hospitality is a real gift from God, I think.

Etta Sue, glad Kitty's friend didn't lose more than a tree.  Tornadoes are scary.

I should see if I can get a little work done today, since yesterday was a day of R & R (Rest and recovery) for me.  I'm not going to overdo, sure don't want a back set!

Have you ever felt, as I have, that what you do or do not do in the church doesn't matter at all?  This little story is a jolt of reality, so just keep doing your job of being the insignificant little nail..........

THE NAIL
--Author Unknown

As the story goes, they built a new church building and people came
from far and wide to see it. They admired its beauty! Up on the roof,
a little nail heard the people praising everything about the lovely
structure-except the nail! No one even knew he was there, and he
became angry and jealous.

"If I am that insignificant, nobody will miss me if I quit!" So the
nail released its hold, slid down the roof, and fell in the mud.

That night it rained and rained, and the wind blew hard! Soon, the
shingle that had no nail blew away, and the roof began to leak. The
water streaked the walls and the beautiful murals. The plaster began
to fall, the carpet was stained, and the pulpit Bible was ruined by
water. All this because a little nail decided to quit!

But what of the nail? While holding the shingle, it was obscure, but
it was also useful. Buried in the mud it was just as obscure, but now
it was useless and would soon by eaten up by rust!

The moral of the story: EVERY HUMAN BEING IS IMPORTANT! Like the
nail, you may feel obscure at times, but just like the nail, your
absence is felt. When you are not present in other's lives, in some
way they hurt...

We are ALL a part of the Lord's ministry. --1 Corinthians 12:26-27

I'm just off to give my elderly friend her Thursday injection but wanted to give you this SOS first.

JUDY

I just phoned Judy and she's on her way now to Hamilton for surgery on Monday.  She was given no notice as the surgeon is cancelling everything on Monday (EVERYTHING) just to concentrate on Judy's case.  It was supposed to be in two weeks but now it's an emergency so that she does no further damage.

She's now on her way in order to have all the pre-op stuff done in time for Monday's surgery.

I was with Judy when the doctor spoke to her the other day and he said that he knew of no other doctor in Canada or even the USA that would attempt what he's going to attempt to do.

He says that he "hopes" he doesn't have to remove her hip thus making it impossible for her ever to be mobile again.  But he won't know till he's in there.

This is what we must pray for folks, that he can fix it in some way.

I'm going to attach a copy of her hip x-ray for you to see.  I got the doctor to mark it and he put two arrows on it.  The bottom arrow is showing how far the hip cup has moved UP since Feb. 20  The tip of the arrow is where it was on Feb. 20 and this upward movement has caused a gap where the other arrow is causing her debilitating pain.

I tried to scan the x-ray copy that they gave me but it was terrible so I took a photo of it.  Digital cameras sure come in handy.

And this is an x-ray from the front so the hip on the left of the photo is her RIGHT hip.  The one on the right side of the photo is her left that they last did surgery on and it's working wonderful with the bone of someone else in there plus all the steel wires, etc.

It is snowing in the foothills now.  :snowman: I ran for groceries and lots of veggies to make a soup tomorrow.  Just checking in before friends come for dinner - they are much younger and so much fun.

Karma: Your updates are getting better and better.  Such great news!  Here is a thumbsup to you and Nards

Pat:  The digital picture of Judy's hip bones are shocking.  Cannot imagine the pain she has gone through.  Praying for success in her operation.

Janet:  You are so funny - I am most certainly not a great hostess - I have always thought that people like to stay longer and more often when they don't see you slaving over their visit.  We are here to talk and listen and have some hopefully good food.  I wonder if you will get some of the latest snow/ice that is coming to the SE corner of this state today?

Prayers for all who are in need!

Bernard is sitting in a chair right now.  He's still in pain, but is doing very well.  I'm super proud of him.  I have pictures, and may post some later, if I get bored.  not that he is particularly crazy about being seen in his "dress" but he hasn't objected either.  i get to stay at the hospital with him tonight.  Yeah!!!!!

pat, give Judy a very tender hug from me and let her know I'm praying for a miracle (a quick, and painless miracle).  hope you get to feeling better as well.

Carol, the snow is gone, but we have this horrific wind whipping around.  It's crazy.

goin' run for now.

As you all know I have not posted in some time but I have been remembering Bernard & Karma in prayer.   Karma  stress to your sweetheart that he must follow Dr's orders when he gets home, if he tries to lift something too big he will pay the price for a few days. Then approx 5 months following surgery he will say I feel like new again.

We must also remember Judy M in our prayers as she has a tough road ahead, but God is always good.

It is a wet and cold evening so will soon be heading off to bed for a good nights rest.

In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.  Proverbs 3:6

Ruth Ann Bice

Such good news from you and Nards, Karma! Thank God for allowing our medical personnel to gain the wisdom, knowledge and experience to handle such big jobs.

And, oh, my, what Judy is enduring!!! I pray for her, the family, and the surgeon who will attempt this huge undertaking. May God be merciful.

I was home today taking care of this cold and bad cough. Slept often throughout the day, and am now beginning to recuperate.

I'm also very thankful for my son's patience and persistence. I couldn't get onto the internet this evening, and it has taken him hours and hours to get it fixed.

Pat, I continue to pray you'll soon be over this.

Ruth Ann

I am surprised that I am first

Today is April 13th and it was 44 years ago that Mel & I were married.  Later we will be going out for dinner at one of our chosen places.   When we were married it was a most beautiful sunny day but today the Lord has given us another beauty in that every is covered in white.(snow)
In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.  Proverbs 3:6

karmat

happy anniversary Ruth!!!!!  May you have at least 44 more. :)

Bernard is still doing okay.  He had a scary moment this morning at 4 am.   He was sleeping and they came into weigh him.  He stood up too fast and starting shivering/chilling.  His oxygen level dropped, his heart rate when from around 60 to around 100, and his blood pressure went up.  It took about an hour to get everything back to normal.  So,now they are reducing one medicine and adjusting some stuff.  he's also complaining about being really hot one minute, and really cold the next.  The nurse told him that it is probably a side effect of the percoset, and that they often call it "percosweats."

Another little bit of humor for today.  The cardiologist on call today is Dr. Kuehl (pronounced Kill).  Bernard's head nurse last night was Nurse Posthumous.  She was German, so it was actually pronounced 'Pahs to mus" instead of Post Humous like we say, but it was still a bit "odd."  Kill and posthumous.  Real encouraging. :)

Ruth Ann, I hope today makes you feel a whole lot better.

I'll try to post some pictures later.

Al Moak

Karmat - you've done wonderfully as far as keeping us posted is concerned!  THANK YOU!  Oh Father, I pray You'll keep giving Bernard a very positive recovery. And thank You, Father, for Your mercy and grace to keep he and Karma (and kids) thus far.

Larry Hanna

Karmat, thanks for the updates and so good to read all the encouraging news.  I felt confident that he would be fine and, in fact, better than he may have ever been when that hole in his heart was fixed.  He will find that some of the less than pleasant things he is experiencing will soon be forgotten as he recovers.  It sounds like he is tolerating it well and they always say that after the third day you really begin to detect feeling better everyday.  Tell Bernard welcome to the heart club.

Pat, thanks sharing the information on Judy.  I just feel so sad for her having to endure so much pain and surgery.

Carol, I am sure you must be a wonderful hostess.  If not people would not be stopping so often to be in your company.  I always think it is the warmth of the greeting and evidence of the enjoyment of the visit that spell success, not that everything may be picture perfect.  Your thoughts on the food certainly seem right on.  Having things prepared in advance assures you will not be exhausted when they visit and will be able to enjoy their visit.

Happy anniversary to Ruth and Mel.  My wife and I are coming up on our 45th anniversary in July.  Where have the years gone.

Ruth Ann, sorry to hear that you now have a bad cough.  Your immune system must be very low.  I hope you are able to get some extra rest.

Today is our SeniorNet Computer Learning Center volunteers meetings and then the PC User Group meeting so will be gone for most of the day.  I am making a presentation at the morning meeting on recruiting and retaining volunteers.  This is the last step of a committee project on this subject that was started several months ago.

Last evening we had a very enjoyable time dining out with good friends and then going with them to their clubhouse where they play Bingo once or twice a month.  I actually won one of the games and so did my wife.

It is another beautiful day here but supposed to be stormy tomorrow.

Marilyn

Good Morning.

Karma it is so good to hear that Nards is doing well after his surgery. Please let him know that I am also praying for his speedy recovery. It is good that you can be there at night with him.

Hi Larry. I got the  MP3 player figured out finally but I haven;'t laded anything into it since i got all the garbage deleted that I accidentally put into it.

My dogs did well at the vet  on Wednesday. They both got blood tests but I don't have the results yet. The Vet put both of them on a diet of prescription dog food but it is $50 for 35lbs. Right now  I have to get through a 40 lb bag of Beneful I have also  prepared a veggie concoction mixed up with 1 can of thier food. I am cutting them way back on their treats and breaking them up into little peices. Happy is 10 lbs over 2 years and Bebe has gained 12 lbs in one year. I won't be running out of dry food for at least 3-4 weeks.TMI about my dogs.

Hope y-all have a great and belssed day.  I hit my 100th workout at Curves this morning. I am not going 6 days per week.

B-r-r-r-r-r!!  Blizzard weather here in Kansas, too.  But I am so happy we are not having the really high winds that were predicted.  It rained all night and the snow started about 10 or so this morning in earnest.  It is accumulating rapidly, and I'm gald I don't have to go out again today.  :)

Now, Carol!  I know you must be a wonderful hostess, or people wouldn't be flocking to visit you as they are!  And you do the bulk of the work ahead of time, so they don't have to feel they are a burden to you---another sign of a good hostess.  ;)   <3

Big hugs  (gentle ones) to Nards today.  We are all cheering you on and praying for you.  Can't wait to see your "fashion photos."  ;)

Marilyn, if you are not going to Curves 6 days a week, you must be going only one day!

I think I have "news overload"........my stomach hurts, just hearing all the evil going on in our world today.  And I watch Christian TV a lot, too.  Folks, I really believe our time is short, and we must be ready for the trumpet call!

Ruth Ann, so sorry about that cough.  Not good.  Did you get the results of the tests about the blood loss yet?  I'm still praying for you, sweet lady.

Happy Anniversary, Ruth and Mel!

Larry, hope yours and Pat's prizes were good ones!  The only one I won last time I played Bingo was for being the only player to NOT get a single letter!!

It sure is good to hear the great reports from WNC.  Karma, please tell Nards that I am praying and thinking of him during his recovery.  And the third day after the surgery, it is uphill from there.  Count on it!

I went with Ivalou to Tipton, Indiana, today for her to get her car maintenanced.  Her car is a year older than mine but I have twice the mileage on mine... :-\  She only has 30,000 miles on hers and I have 63,000+ on mine.  She gets hers maintenance when it is three months since the last one instead of 3,000 miles!

Then we went to the Pizza Shack by the Track.  It used to be an old train depot but it is a pizza buffet and salad bar.  Great food.

When we got home, I went to Lapel to get some cash from the ATM and then to Dollar General.  My bank is changing names and I grabbed my card from my purse and went to the ATM which is just inside the doors.  It kept saying that if I continue I would be charged $2 to my account to withdraw cash.  I tried it three times and it was the same message.  I went inside and asked if they started charging to get cash from the ATM since they are changing names.  No!  Then I noticed I was trying my Discover Card.   :o

So I went to the car and my ATM card AND driver's license were missing!!!  I changed purses for Red Hats and put them in that purse.

So I drove home.  Checked my other purse.  Nothing there.  I went all through my first purse and nothing.  Finally I remembered I had a little leather coin purse and was I releived to find my ATM and Driver's License in it.  It was in my purse all along.

So I went back to the bank.  Got some cash and then to the Dollar General.

Things like this are happening more and more to me!  Do you wonder if it is old age?   :idiot:

Or maybe it was because today is Friday, the 13th.  But Friday, the 13th's are great days!!

I should mow but I really don't think the grass is high enough.  It is predicted that we are to get 1.5-2 inches of snow tomorrow and more Sunday.  So I will wait to mow.

Kaye Don and Barb are to be home from Florida today or tomorrow!  The family all together again!
