Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

As if life isn't hectic enough, what did I do yesterday??  I now have a Droid through Verizon!  I hope the learning curve is easy!

Off and running.  I may go and help Kitty work on her computer!!

Doing some more dirty laundry right now!

This has been an interesting day.  We delivered Kim back home and then took Kassie for her new glasses.  It is so great that Zellers provides 2 pair of glasses for $99.00.  With our benefits we have an allowance of 200 in 2 years thus Kass is covered till she is off our benefits, even if it means replacing every year.

Kass has a new corner desk, for her new computer, both of which we got off free cycle!  It is so good to be able to get these things that others don't want.

John will be leaving tomorrow.  He will be working the holiday.  That really doesn't bother me as it really isn't one where we do a lot.  Kass has to work with the food bank that day.

Welol I am off to bed.  Night all!

According To Thy Gracious Word
(Click to hear music)

He took bread, gave thanks and broke it,
and gave it to them, saying ˜This is My body given for you;
do this in remembrance of Me.
Luke 22:19

Words: James Montgomery

According to Thy gracious word,
In meek humility,
This will I do, my dying Lord,
I will remember Thee.

Thy body, broken for my sake,
My bread from Heaven shall be;
The testamental cup I take,
And thus remember Thee.

Gethsemane can I forget?
Or there Thy conflict see,
Thine agony, and bloody sweat,
And not remember Thee?

When to the cross I turn mine eyes,
And rest on Calvary,
O Lamb of God, my sacrifice,
I must remember Thee.

Remember Thee, and all Thy pains
And all Thy love to me;
Yea, while a breath, a pulse remains,
Will I remember Thee.

And when these failing lips grow dumb
And mind and memory flee,
When Thou shalt in Thy kingdom come,
Jesus, remember me.

Ruth Ann Bice

Thanks for that song, Judy. It's a new one for me.

Also, you may wish to look at your temps in the "weather thingy" - 999C seems mighty suspicious to me!  ;)

It's late again because I just emailed off my latest "edition" of the data work my former boss's client needs to have done. Whew! This has turned into quite a project.

Y'all have a good rest of the day.

Christ as our High Priest

This High Priest of ours understands our weaknesses, for he faced all of the same temptations we do, yet he did not sin. So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it.

Hebrews 4:15-16 NLT

I am overcome with joy because of your unfailing love, for you have seen my troubles, and you care about the anguish of my soul. You have not handed me over to my enemy but have set me in a safe place.
Psalm 31:7-8 NLT

The depth of the Divine mercy
I did not then see what is now the most shining and obvious thing: the Divine humility which will accept a convert even on such terms. The Prodigal Son at least walked on his own feet. But who can duly adore that love which opens the high gates to a prodigal who is brought in kicking, struggling, resentful, and darting his eyes in every direction for a chance to escape. The words complle intrate, compel them to come in, have been so abused by wicked men that we shudder to use them; but, properly understood, they plumb the depth of the Divine mercy. The hardness of God is kinder than the softness of men, and His compulsion is our liberation.

C. S. Lewis in Surprised by Joy

Not many posters yesterday!

My Droid is coming together.  Instead of playing with it yesterday, Kitty wanted me to come over and work on her desktop.  We got back:           PhotoShop CS4, Lightroom, Corel Paint.
Installed her webcam and Wacom pad, mouse and pen
Freed up 25gb of space on the hard drive.
Used Disk Cleanup and Error-repairing.
She's a happy camper now.  Was seriously thinking about getting a new computer but now she is happy!

Then Bob and Kitty took me out to eat since I saved them $$$ or $,$$$!

I took Ivalou for her blood work yesterday then had breakfast out and went to Walmart.  Don't know when I will have time to clean the basement and put in the new shelving unit but it is here when that time comes.

Now I am ready to go with classmate Judy to have pizza and then see if we can find some clothes for her.  Her son and DIL is taking her to Greece in Sept for 2 weeks!!  Could I be a mouse and tag-along?

Off and running!!

Big afternoon planned for today. Need to vacuum and unload Dishwasher, and take Kassie to work.  She needs new tires on her bike, or she would bike it today.

I will be back later.

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  I didn't find time to get here yesterday.  The morning was taken up with coffee, Bible study, visiting with friends at Dunkin' Donut and then eating with them.  It was after 1 pm when we got home and I was tired so rested until about 3.  Then got up and did work needed before the business meeting I had to substitute chair last evening.  When I got home was tired and went to bed.

Today is a laid back day.  Pat isn't here this morning as is attending a Kay Arthur study that her friend is teaching at the Baptist Church and won't be back until after lunch.  I did walk at the gym and then made a trip to the credit union and plan to stay home the rest of the day and catch up on some work here on the computer.  It seems like it never gets done completely.

Etta Sue, I am excited for you with the Droid phone.  I think you are going to love it.  I believe it works very much like the iPhone and the iTouch and there are many applications for them.  I have the iTouch and use it everyday alot.  They came out with a new one yesterday but not in my budget at this time.

Judy, hard to understand why someone would abuse their truck since that is a source of livelihood.  How do you drive a truck without a clutch?  Sorry it is so hot up your way.

Ruth Ann, that sounds like quite a project.

Janet, with the new road it sounds like your quiet time will soon be over where your place is located.  Is there building going on in your area.  Sure not much building in the Atlanta area.

Janet

Larry, as far as I know, there will only be the one house south of us.  It has been fun to see how they built the road, and it is a nice road.  We might start using it, after a time, as we don't want to pick up nails in our tires.  We had two of those recently, and it cosst us $15 each time to get the tire fixed.  Remember when fixing a flat cost 50c??  (Now I'm showing my age!)  I don't know of much building in our area, however, houses are still really high, and we ha ven't seen the slump in housing prices that other places are having.

Etta Sue, our grandson Mark has a droid, and boy!  That thing can do everything!  As for me, I don't even know how to use half the features of my simple cell phone!!

Wow!  I'd love for someone to take me to Greece for 2 weeks!  She is blessed!

I swam 3/4 of a mile today, working my way up to a mile.  Our pool is Olympic sized, so 32 laps make a mile.  That was plenty, as I am out of practice.  Etta Sue, I'm glad you are enjoying swimming.  It's the very best cardio-vascular exercise ther is.  But I'm going to start back to the gym, too, as I want to do strength, balance and weight loss exercise, as well as cardio.

See y'all later.

Hi everyone.  I think everyone must be away for a long weekend as very few postings.

I just got back a little while ago from going down and picking up our daughter, who will spend the night with us and I will then take her back home tomorrow.  She has decided staying two nights is just too much for her.

I have nothing else planned for the day except to rest this afternoon.  I think the air must be very heavy today as am short of breath upon exertion.

Janet, you are fortunate that the real estate values have held steady.  There are so many homes here that have been lost of foreclosure and the value of all real-estate has gone down quite a bit.  It is very difficult to sell a house now in the Atlanta area.  I did see a new home under construction this morning but it was in a high-price development.

Ruth Ann, sorry that you are feeling so tired.  Hope you will feel better after rest.

Jeanne Lee

Still "sticky" here, although it's not supposed to get quite as warm today.

My mechanic is on holiday until Tuesday so I won't be driving anywhere until then.  I'm not looking forward to what the bill will be - the noise it's making sounds like $$$$$.

Pat has just headed home.  We have had a wonderful visit!  She arrived in time for dinner last night.  She should be home about 7;00.

I have tomatoes and peaches to freeze, better get going!

Janet

We got a box of Colorado peaches today.  $28.00 for the box, and probably there are about 30 peaches!  But they are HUGE!  I ate one a while ago, and they don't have nearly as good flavor as our own have had this year.  But need to put them up; don't know whether to can or freeze them.

Curtis and Toni are home for the weekend, he is working hard trying to get the house wired.  They brought a trailer load of their stuff with them.  He said they want to spend the night in the "new" house tomorrow night!  Of course, they want help  with wiring, painting, or whatever.  We will see.....

I went in and read to Mom this afternoon, also visited Beth, of course.  This morning, I took my 93 year old friend Maxine to visit our 89 year old friend Arline.  They visited for two hours and weren't caught up!  I must do that more often.  They both get lonely and really do enjoy visiting.  Both of them painted with me until they started having health problems and had to stop.  I miss them, but I see Maxine at the Senior center.

It's supper time, maybe I should see what I can rustle up.

Today, I took Ivalou to the doctor for an appointment.  Then we ate at El Rodeo.  Ivalou got a phone call from SIL Barb before leaving and said she was having surgery on her hand this morning at 11am.  So Ivalou and I went there after eating.  Kaye Don was gone to his ear doctor so we visited with their oldest daughter, Robin.  They didn't take Barb in until after 1pm so we waited until she was back to her room.  She has arthritis in her left thumb so they took out a bone and put a cadaver bone back in.  Remember Barb has a pain tolerance as thick as a thin dime.  Hope this works but she will have another surgery before the year is up.  She LOVES surgery!  I'm not kidding either!

Then it was after 5pm so Ivalou and I went to Bob Evan's for dinner.  We both had their Wildfire Chicken Salad.  MMMMmmmm!

Yes, my Droid does about everything.  The only complaint I have is the battery runs down before I do!  But then I am putting in email addresses, phone numbers, home address, etc.  Still can't get my 16gb mini-card to work.  Larry, would a 16gb card be too big for my card reader to read?  Wondering if that is the problem.

Marilyn

Etta Sue I am having surgery on my left thumb and  my fingers at the same time. But as far as I know they won't be using a cadaver bone, they will use  a piece of a tendon rolled into a ball to replace the  bone in the joint that the longer bone rolls on.

I am going to Californian tomorrow to see the kids and to visit with Willa.

Hope your visit (and your surgery) go well, Marilyn.

I'm certainly thankful for the carpal tunnel surgeries. They really helped me with the pain in both hands and arms.

If I stay on the computer too long these days, I get out my wrist brace and sleep in it. Yesterday it was throbbing so much I took a pain pill. Well, between the pill and the exhaustion, I didn't even awaken this afternoon till almost 3 pm. Needless to say, ALL of me felt rested, even the wrist. ;)

Y'all have a good rest of the day.

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  It is suppose to be cooler here today and only get up to 83 degrees, a much welcomed event.

Yesterday I picked up our daughter and brought her out.  She was feeling better so we had a nice visit.  However, her sugar count is totally out of control as was over 300 yesterday morning and below 100 after dinner last night.  Her doctor is concerned and she is to get an appointment at the diabetic clinic as soon as she can.  The pain in her foot wasn't as bad yesterday either so have to say she had a reasonably good day.

We will take her home this morning after I get back from coffee.  She is much more comfortable in her own apartment.

Etta Sue, most of the card readers will read multiple types of cards.  I should think the card would work with the Droid seamlessly so wonder why you are having trouble with it.  If this is a card you already had on hand it is possible it is not compatible with the reader in the Droid.  I also have an issue with the battery life of my iPod Touch and keep a spare cable for charging next to my easychair and also have my main recharging cable available so I can use it at my bed if I watch a movie.  The music doesn't seem to draw it down a lot but programs using the display screen do.  I recharge it every night.  It does recharge quickly, however.

Ruth Ann, nice to read you were feeling rested when you arose.  Hope you will feel the same today.

Janet, how nice of you to help your older friends visit with each other.  These things we do for others always seems to pay a reward in terms of how we feel about ourselves.

Marilyn, hope your trip to California today goes without a hitch and you enjoy your visiting.

Judy, nice that Pat could visit you although it sounds like it was a short visit.  I am looking forward to she and Paul dropping by our way one of these days.

Jeanne, maybe the bill won't be as big as you anticipate.  Don't fret as God will provide.  This also gives you more time to heal and your friends wonderful opportunities to feel good as they are able to help you as you need it.

Time for coffee this morning and then the trip to Atlanta and then home to watch Georgia play football today.

Janet

I had another of "those" nights, finally gave up and got up.  I went outside and just looked up at the stars, thanking God for their beauty and His infinite creativity.  Lots of times I am not outside at night, and it is refreshing to look at His handwork and enjoy the night sky.

I need to go to the store for canning lids and ascorbic acid this morning.  I think I will put some of the peaches in the freezer.  If I do a batch or two a day, the chore won't seem as big.

Darrel plans to go to Moscow today to help Curtis with the rewiring on the house, so I'm sure I will go along and probably help do some painting.

Ruth Ann, please don't get back into working mode so much your health suffers for it.  Glad you had a restful night.  Love you!  <3

Larry, you are such a good Dad, I hope Stacey appreciates the things you do for her, and sure she does, as she is your daughter.  :)

Well!  Now that it is time to get up, I am finally getting sleepy.  Go figure.  :-\
My book Rising Above available at JanetDamon.com

Etta Sue

Yea!  I don't have anywhere to go today!  I need to go to the basement and sweep it.  Then assemble my shelving unit to put where the big freezer was.  Storage!

Larry, my card reader in the laptop doesn't work anymore.  I put a card in it during my class reunion and it was a smaller one than usual but bigger than a mini.  The only way I got it out was with one of the ladies two bobbie pins!!  I think I must have shorted out where the pins connect...confused it.  So I am using my old USB Card Reader ...wondering if it was so old it wouldn't read and let me open a 16gb card.  Hope that clarifies what I am talking about.

I just printed out 26 pages of emails to load into Droid.  There probably is an easier way but I don't know it yet.  Also want to add mailing addresses to the ones that I know their mailing addresses.

It's fun working with Droid.  I have already eliminated carrying an data book in my purse...just put all the future appointments into Calender on Droid.

<: )) ))><<~~>  <: )) ))><<~~<  <: )) ))><<~~<

Janet

We are back home, after spending the afternoon helping on Curtis' house.  Darrel helped with the wiring and I painted Lexi's bedroom.  Well, I mean I did the hard part, all the cutting in.  Toni rolled the middles of the walls.  They cooked hamburgers and hotdogs on a little bitty charcoal grill, for supper.  It was fun and we got a lot accomplished.  Their neighbors across the street came over and visited.  The folks in Moscow are excited about the kids moving there, which is nice.

I am tired, time to go to bed and read for a little bit.  We are going to attend church in Hugoton tomorrow.  Still praying for God's direction about the church here, whether to go elsewhere or stay there.

I hope everybody has a nice holiday weekend--anyway, the rest of it!

Hi, friends, yes, I KNOW it's in the middle of the night. :P

Achy ole bones awakened me, so I think I'm gonna warm up these ole bones with a warm shower. Besides, my friends at church will be thankful I bathed!!!

Y'all have a wonderful Sunday.

Another one of those Saturday nights last night.  I woke at 3 and I really don't think I went back to sleep.  Rested but that isn't like sleeping.

I am running the projector system again today, then Sunday School.  I think I will ask my sister if just her and I would go out to eat somewhere.  Then this afternoon is the Baby Shower for the youth minister's wife, Krista and baby Ellianna.

That's it for today.  Cold today...48degrees.  September is here!!  I even have long sleeves on and real shoes.  Not sandals!

THIS IS THE DAY THAT THE LORD HAS MADE ....LET US REJOICE AND BE GLAD IN IT!!!

As we prepare to worship Him may we all prepare our hearts in humbleness toward our Father and Lord.

Have a good day folks!

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  It is a truly glorious day here in Georgia.  I was outside a little earlier and the temperature and humidity are just about perfect.  We know that fall days can't be too far away when we start having the cooler mornings.

I was deeply shocked and saddened yesterday morning when we got home from taking our daughter back to her apartment.  My neighbor came over and told me one of my coffee drinking friends had died suddenly yesterday morning.  He had had coffee with us on Thursday but apparently went into cardiac heart failure on Friday and went to the hospital but was released and died at his home yesterday morning.  His funeral is tomorrow at 11 am at the church where we walk.  I am sure it was will a very packed house as he lived his entire life in this area, as did his wife.  They have a lovely family.  His daughter is in my church choir and it was his son-in-law who put in the windows in our screened in porch.  Our choir is furnishing food today for our congregational care committee to take to the family.  He was only 71 years old but had been a very large person all his life.

Janet, I know our daughter does appreciate what we do for her as she often tells us.  Just this weekend she made the statement that she knew she would not be alive today if we hadn't helped her.  Just glad we are able to do so.  It sounds like you all made a lot of progress on your grandson's home.

Etta Sue, card readers are really quite inexpensive so you might want to pick up one that says it will read the type of card you have.  It is too bad they couldn't standardize on one size and type rather than have so many.  Do you have a cable link from your Droid to your computer that came with the Droid such as a USB cable?  If so, you should be able to connect to your computer and access your memory card that is in the Droid.  That is the way I update my iPod Touch and change out the music.  These devices are a lot of fun and pretty amazing.

Ruth Ann, hope you will allow yourself a restful day today.

Judy, hope you have a good day also.  Thanks for your thoughts that bring us back to think about our Lord and Savior.

About time to leave for church.

JudyB
