Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

The Gospel is open to all;

Morning Devotional...

Jesus Talks with Peter
John 21:15-25 NLT

    After breakfast Jesus asked Simon Peter, "Simon son of John, do you love me more than these?"

   "Yes, Lord," Peter replied, "you know I love you."

   "Then feed my lambs," Jesus told him.

   Jesus repeated the question: "Simon son of John, do you love me?"

   "Yes, Lord," Peter said, "you know I love you."

   "Then take care of my sheep," Jesus said.

   A third time he asked him, "Simon son of John, do you love me?"

   Peter was hurt that Jesus asked the question a third time. He said, "Lord, you know everything. You know that I love you."

   Jesus said, "Then feed my sheep.

   "I tell you the truth, when you were young, you were able to do as you liked; you dressed yourself and went wherever you wanted to go. But when you are old, you will stretch out your hands, and others will dress you and take you where you don't want to go."  Jesus said this to let him know by what kind of death he would glorify God. Then Jesus told him, "Follow me."

   Peter turned around and saw behind them the disciple Jesus loved—the one who had leaned over to Jesus during supper and asked, "Lord, who will betray you?"  Peter asked Jesus, "What about him, Lord?"

   Jesus replied, "If I want him to remain alive until I return, what is that to you? As for you, follow me."  So the rumor spread among the community of believers that this disciple wouldn't die. But that isn't what Jesus said at all. He only said, "If I want him to remain alive until I return, what is that to you?"

   This disciple is the one who testifies to these events and has recorded them here. And we know that his account of these things is accurate.

   Jesus also did many other things. If they were all written down, I suppose the whole world could not contain the books that would be written.

What difference would it make to you to read these verses with your name in the place of Simon Peter's?

   Peter asked Jesus how John would die,  Jesus replied that Peter should not concern himself with that.

   We tend to compare our life to others, whether to rationalize our own level of devotion to Christ or to question God's justice.  Jesus responds to us as he did to Peter:  "What is that to you?  You follow me!"

We had a great turnout for FROGGS.  Forty people with only one being a guest...the rest family.  No mosquitoes but we were plagued by Sweat bees.  NO RAIN!  We did hear it thunder but no rain.  No breeze...that would have helped a lot since it was so hot!  But lots of wonderful conversation and great food!  Best FROGGS to date!

It is another hot scorcher day again!  93 degrees!  Hot.  I am doing some laundry.  I want to burn a CD and see if I can burn a DVD of the movie I made from the church photos.  They gave me a photo of the composite for the new building and want me to make it .jpg and change the wording on it from Life Center to Worship Center.  That's my small projects for the week.

And next week is our little church's 150 Year Celebration!  Pray for no rain, temperature in the low 80's and a gentle breeze since a lot of the celebration is to be outside in a tent!

Footsteps of Jesus
(Click to hear music)

Then Jesus said to his disciples, 'If anyone would come after me,
he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me'.
Matthew 16:24

Words - Mary B.C. Slade, 1826-1882
Music - Asa B. Everett, 1871

Sweetly, Lord, have we heard Thee calling,
Come, follow Me!
And we see where Thy footprints falling
Lead us to Thee.

Refrain
Footprints of Jesus,
That make the pathway glow;
We will follow the steps of Jesus
Where'er they go.

Though they lead o'er the cold, dark mountains,
Seeking His sheep;
Or along by Siloam's fountains,
Helping the weak.

Refrain

If they lead through the temple holy,
Preaching the Word;
Or in homes of the poor and lowly,
Serving the Lord.

Refrain

Then at last, when on high he sees us
Our journey done,
We will rest where the steps of Jesus
end at his throne.

Thanks for the devotional, Etta Sue.  I really missed church today.  Usually, I listen to four sermons before we leave for Sunday School, but not at 5 AM.

I had a sleepless night last night, so am pretty draggy now, but determined to stay up at least until 9, in hopes of sleeping tonight.

Etta Sue, your FROGGS gathering sounds wonderful!  You need the weather for your church celebration that we have here today.  It was in the 60s when I went to work, and got up only to the low 80s.  Wonderful!  It was cloudy all day, but nary a drop of rain!  We really need rain!!

We are going to Hugoton in the morning on business.  And to see the grands and greats!  :)  Then I have a Dr. app't at 1:00, with the ENT who did the surgery on my tongue.  It still bothers me constantly; not sure I will ever be the same.  :(

My internet was down a while ago.  I checked and found the wireless router wasn't working.  Told Darrel, and he discovered the cat had chewed the wire (power) really bad.  He replaced that and voila!  Now I have internet again.  Darn cat! >:(  I wonder if she got shocked.

Supper is ready, see you later!

Hi everyone.  I see it has been pretty quiet here since my last visit.

I have to leave shortly for Monday luncheon with the group of men.  I am still not feeling at all well as my back continues to ache.  I did get a good nights sleep.

I did go to have my followup bloodtest done this morning.  Kaiser has a new small facility that is closer than where we normally go but will draw blood and send it to the lab.  I found out they are opening another one even closer to us.  They are changing the way they do somethings.  They will have Internal Medicine and a few other doctors in these small centers, with the ability to do lab work and have a pharmacy.  Then they will have the specialties in the larger centers like the one we normally have had to use.

Etta Sue. thanks for the devotional thought for the week.

Good afternoon.  I finally got here.  After visiting with Kaye Don and Ivalou this morning, I went to church to load an image on the computer there.  Then to Noblesville to White Castles for lunch.  While eating, I had the feeling that I didn't do the image right.  Sure enough, once I got my devotions read and online, I checked the image and I didn't change the wording on the image.  So now I have to go back to church and replace that image!  Grrr!  My mistake!

Looks like today isn't going to be as warm as the last two weeks.  We have had too many days with the temp being over 95 degrees.  Hottest summer in Indiana since the early '80's!  Just glad for A/C!

That's about it for today.  I am off to make some Spaghetti Slaw for Euchre at Ivalou's tomorrow afternoon!

Hi, friends,

The baptisms were so inspiring for my granddaughters as well as we who were there.

I'm so tired this evening, so will post early, then "hit the sack" early, too.

G'nite, friends!

How wonderful that you got to be at your granddaughters' baptisms, Ruth Ann.  That's a blessing, for sure.

Etta Sue, sorry about your mistake.  At least you realized what you had done in time to correct it.

Larry, praying about your back pain.

We went down to Hugoton this morning for the closing on that house for Curtis and Toni.  Boy, that baby has grown!  Goodness!

I have a doctor story to tell you, but am running late for something I want to attend tonight, so will tell you tomorrow.   ;)

TRUST AND OBEY
(Click to hear music)

When we walk with the Lord
in the light of his word,
what a glory he sheds on our way!
While we do his good will,
he abides with us still,
and with all who will trust and obey.

Refrain:
Trust and obey,
for there's no other way
to be happy in Jesus,
but to trust and obey.

Not a burden we bear,
not a sorrow we share,
but our toil he doth richly repay;
not a grief or a loss,
not a frown or a cross,
but is blest if we trust and obey.

(Refrain)

But we never can prove
the delights of his love
until all on the altar we lay;
for the favor he shows,
for the joy he bestows,
are for them who will trust and obey.

(Refrain)

Then in fellowship sweet
we will sit at his feet,
or we'll walk by his side in the way;
what he says we will do,
where he sends we will go;
never fear, only trust and obey.

(Refrain)

Hi everyone.  It looks like I am the first to post for today. (Whoops, while writing I see Judy paid a visit.) My back seems to be feeling somewhat better and isn't aching as it has been the last few days.  Sure hope that lasts throughout the day.  I have a fairly quiet day ahead with only a meeting to attend this morning.  It seems to be a bit cooler here this morning and we had some rain during the night.  It is still overcast and that helps keep it cooler.

Janet, sure glad the house closing went well and know your grandson is thrilled to have his own home.  Thanks for your prayers as know that prayer helps.

Ruth Ann, it sounds like you had a great weekend.

Etta Sue, it has been a very hot summer here in Georgia as well.  We have been fortunate to have quite a bit of rain although parts of the state as back in a drought situation.  My yard is very green and almost looks like springtime.  Usually by this time of the year the yards are looking pretty brown.  Glad you realized you hadn't made that language change on the graphic as saved you a time of embarrassment on Sunday, although I doubt that anyone but you would have been upset about it.  We are often our own worst critics.

JudyB

We have had a cooling of temperatures here in the north.  I think tonight there will be blankets on the bed, not kicked off.

We are looking forward to an exciting week next week. As a result of that we have a lot to accomplish this week.

Bye for now

The new and improved image is loaded on the church computer.  Even then I put 'The' instead of 'A' but no one will notice that, I hope!

When at church yesterday, I asked the secretary if she had the list for the Bible reading in a year since I am ahead.  The books, chapters and verses are on the Church calender for each month and I have to guess at the end of the month what ones to read next.  So I got copies of the next calenders.  I spent last night putting them on WORD and have all 365 days on one page.  I printed it and took it to the secretary this morning in case someone else asks for the advance readings.

If anyone wants Read the Bible in a Year, email me and I can send it as an attachment.

Today is Euchre but first Ivalou and I are going to Lapel to eat and then to Subway to get sandwiches for Euchre at Ivalou's house.

So I need to run.......

Good Morning, I haven't posted here in a couple of days so here I am.  have been to the gym to workout  and now I am going across the street to pick more Blackberries, I only  pick about a quart at a time. some I can't even get too as they are either too high or too far back int he brambles.

We have high fog here toady which is pretty much the norm for this time of year, it will burn off probably before noon,. Sometimes we don't see the sun until it is going down over the ocean.

I have to call around and find a dentist who will take the Oregon Health plan to repair my lower denture, I found a chip  this morning that is catching on the side of my tongue. I also have to call the vet to see if I am giving happy the correct dose of his allergy med because he is still itching.

Hi, friends, it's good to hear from y'all this afternoon. I'm heading out for several errands, but wanted to say you're loved, and many prayers go up for those who suffer - suffering comes in many ways, doesn't it: soul, body, finances, sometimes even boredom. :)

My God hold you close today.

Hey, I'm back!

Yesterday afternoon I had an app't with the ENT doctor who did the surgery on my tongue.  He was really perplexed as to why it still bothers me constantly, burning, food doesn't taste right, etc.  He told me to take mega-doses of vitamin A and Zinc for a month, off a month, then take for another month.  Then he asked me if I believe in prayer!  I said "Absolutely!" And he said I should get my chutch to pray for me, because there is nothing more he can do for me.  That really lifted my spirits, and was a bright spot in my day.  Until then, I had no idea whether or not he was a believer.  I told him I am a BIG believer in supernatural healing, and he said, " I am, too!"  COOL!  8)  :thumbsup:

I worked this morning, and this is supposed to be the last day for this month.  We will see.

It is still lovely and cool here in my corner of the world.

It is to late in the day for me to have  :coffee:   but I will share a bran muffin that I made fresh this morning.  I also made a special trip over to Bolton to give auntie 3 I was thinking of more but she did say that sometimes my treats are all gone by bed time. I kinda think that too many would be to much.

I have a sewing job that is waiting for me so perhaps tomorrow will be the day.

I am on my way to visit the bank web site.   Have a great evening.   Ruth

I haven't been here in a few days either.  I think. LOL

Marilyn,  we checked on dentists for my granddaughter, who has a medical card, and they almost don't do anything dentally anymore.  Let me know if you get someone for your dentures that takes the Oregon Health Plan.  I don't have the plan, but I know my Medicare and insurance, neither will help with vision or dental.

We had rain tonight.  It felt cold to me tonight.  I added another blanket so will be warm when I go to bed.  I noticed that by 9 pm it was almost totally dark.  Summer is sure on a fast track this year.

Janet, I believe in supernaturally healing too!   Have you noticed more and more are believing in the power of prayer for healing?  And some not even believers really....they just know it works. :)

Ruth, I love bran muffins.  I like to add raisins, or apples.  yumm.

Marilyn

Nita if she has OHP there is a booklet that she received with the  listings of all the dentist is Oregon that take the OHP. There are 4 in CB and 2 in NB. The plan is call the Advantage Dental Plan. Ask her if she has her paperwork, if not I will  make a list of all the numbers and email it to you.

Euchre was fun.  Nice to walk next door instead of driving to play Euchre.  We even pitched in and took the two sets of card tables and chairs to the garage for Ivalou.  Next month I have Euchre here.  I asked if it would be too hot for chili.  Several said, 'Not your chili.  It's delicious.'  So I am having chili...the rest of the food will be brought by others.  That makes it nice.

I have already been swimming today.  I finally checked after over a year...it is 19.8 miles from my garage to where I parked.  I wish there was some place closer to swim but so far I haven't found a place that is a lap pool.  I was faster today.  36 laps in 45 minutes.  That's good for me!  It's getting easier...not struggling near as much.

Now I am resting and later I need to mow the grass.  I wish it would stop growing...maybe September!

Hello from sunny Vancouver Island. Yes, I did say sunny!  After weeks of rain and cool weather, we have been getting really great weather.  Not so great for the forests tho' as it seems they are tinder dry.

Rarely post anywhere these days.  Thought I would come to this site and seek a little stress relief.  Really enjoyed your devotion from last week, Al.  Right on track.  The world has become too confusing for this old lady.

My granddaughter is about to share a condo with a longtime girlfriend and is in the process of getting her things together, talking her parents into helping with her bedroom furniture, etc.
The friend also goes to University and lost her former roomate.  This is the first time a place with decent rent has come along for Amanda, so it is a real blessing.  She has another part time job with the same store and will stay a supervisor, so with us helping and her job, things should be okay.  It will be so much better than driving into Victoria each day and a whole bunch safer.  My daughter is sad tho' and will miss her lots.  Even if it is only a short drive away and her laundry will be coming home on a regular basis....

Have you ever heard about 'exploading glass doors'?  That happened to the bottom part of my  entrance glass door.  I was in another room when there was a sound like a rife shot that scared me good.  Went out and saw my door had literally exploaded at the bottom panel.  Glass everywhere.  I have had it repaired today (169.00) and found out lots about the problem on the internet.  People thought I was nuts saying it did it all by itself.  If you Google 'Exploading Glass Doors' the list of problems is really something interesting.  Seems the problem has been around since 1960 but the public has been kept in the dark....not to mentions pieces of glass.    Shower doors, windows, you name it......
the wonders of our modern age!

I am tuckered out today.  My cat Misty tossed up her snack on my bed at 3 A.M. and I had to change everything and re-do the linen.  She sleeps on my bed at night.  Tried to lock her out and she kept crying, so got up and let her in again.  No more accidents, thank goodness.  Why do we hava a cat, Janet?  guess because they are so nice to hug..... :)

Pleasant Day/Evening and God Bless

Liz
CHANGE NOT THY FAITH WITH CHANGING TIMES

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.
This is another busy day for me. I went to coffee with the men for an hour this morning, then Pat and I went to Bible Study.  We then went to Dunkin' Donut for another hour or so of visiting and then to lunch with the group to the Chinese Buffet.

Needless to say I won't be eating any supper tonight.  There are several items on their buffet that I really like such as the buttered shrimp and a baked artificial crab dish with cheese that is delicious.  Of course I had to have a few bites of a few other things and then top it off with a bowl of ice cream.  I couldn't eat like that everyday and wouldn't want to but enjoyed it today.

Todnight is choir rehearsal and the church is resuming it regular Wednesday night programs, which are suspended for several weeks during the summer.

Janet, what a nice experience with your doctor.  I believe we can never have too much prayer.

Our son had the procedure today to try to break up the kidney stone he has.  He called about 1:30 to say he is home and now it is a wait and see if it was broken up and the small pieces can be passed.  He said the procedure this time was pretty painful, more so than when he has had it before.  I sure hope he doesn't have to have it repeated for this stone.

Those of you who know Pat Howe from SeniorNet days or even if you don't know who she is, please put her on your prayer list as she is having cancer surgery on her mouth for about the third or fourth time.

Marilyn

I got a lot done today. May nails are a pretty  pink color,  I baked a cake worked out, went to Coos Bay to gas my car, the Farmers Market to buy a Lavender plant, stopped by the Episcopal church for a minute before I headed back home. I did come home and have lunch with Keith during his lunch break. Now all I have left to do is walk the dogs and Ican take a break too. Happy has chewed/licked another place on his hip that he has bloodied up. I managed to  get a couple of sprays of medicine on him but he keeps hiding from me. Tonight I am going to put that E- collar on him so he can't reach that spot.

Does God hold our sins against us?

Oh, do not hold us guilty for our former sins! Let your tenderhearted mercies quickly meet our needs, for we are brought low to the dust. Help us, O God of our salvation! Help us for the honor of your name. Oh, save us and forgive our sins for the sake of your name.... Then we your people, the sheep of your pasture, will thank you forever and ever, praising your greatness from generation to generation.

Psalm 79:8-9,13 NLT

Petition for Mercy
A plea to God for mercy presumes that the petitioner is guilty. It is the cry of someone brought low, dishonored, and in need of forgiveness. When God shows mercy, he isn't forgiving that person because of what he or she has done, but because God is compassionate to those who repent of their sins and ask for forgiveness. It is only because of God's goodness that sinners are forgiven. Asaph understood that it wasn't his worthiness but the Lord's greatness that prompted the Lord to rescue him. In light of this truth, Asaph dedicated this prayer to praising God for being so merciful.

Are you in need of God's mercy? His love and goodness are the source of your hope. Cast yourself on his mercy and let your lips overflow with grateful praise.

There Is Power in the Blood
(Click to hear music)

They have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.
Revelation 7:14

Words & Music: Lewis E. Jones, 1899

Would you be free from the burden of sin?
There's power in the blood, power in the blood;
Would you o'er evil a victory win?
There's wonderful power in the blood.

Refrain
There is power, power, wonder working power
In the blood of the Lamb;
There is power, power, wonder working power
In the precious blood of the Lamb.

Would you be free from your passion and pride?
There's power in the blood, power in the blood;
Come for a cleansing to Calvary's tide;
There's wonderful power in the blood.

Refrain

Would you be whiter, much whiter than snow?
There's power in the blood, power in the blood;
Sin stains are lost in its life giving flow.
There's wonderful power in the blood.

Refrain

Would you do service for Jesus your King?
There's power in the blood, power in the blood;
Would you live daily His praises to sing?
There's wonderful power in the blood.

Refrain

Power in the Blood was one of my Dad's favorite hymns.

It has warmed back up here.  I was all set to start swimming again yesterday, only to find the pool is closed for repairs.  Seems there is a serious leak somewhere, and will necessitate tearing out concrete, etc. until they can find and repair it.  :(

Larry, I do remember Pat Howe, and will pray for her.

I must find something to do today, I have been doing too much nothing, and when that happens, I don't feel good.  I need exercise!

Liz, nice to see you posting again!  Wow!  Having a glass door explode all by itself would be scary--not to mention expensive!!  I have several of them, hope they don't do that!  Yes, cats are good to hug.  Mine comes and gets in my lap when she wants some loving, usually takes 30 minutes or so of attention to satisfy her, then she goes about her business for a while.  She brought us a nice gift the other day--laid a big dead rat right in front of the door!  :o  When you live in the country, they find such things.  A couple days later, it was a pile of feathers........

See you all later!

Good morning...for a little while in central Indiana.

Nothing much to write about today.  I did get the yard mowed yesterday.  I think the next time I will have to get the lawn sweeper out.  I don't like the look of so much cut grass laying on top of the grass.  Will mow around and around and then sweep it up in the middle!

I didn't do much last evening other than watch TV and crochet.  Our new Youth Minister and wife are expecting a little girl in October.  Elianna...what a pretty name.  So I am crocheting a girly baby afghan for Elianna.

Today?  Wow!  Nothing planned.  Just vegging out!

I remember Pat Howe...I met her at Calgary and a mini-bash in St. Pete.  A great lady!  And her husband is a great photographer!  I didn't know her cancer was back in her mouth.  Praying for her and her family.

Looks like it is suppose to get to 90 degrees again today!  A slight breeze.  Things are turning yellow here.  Some of the corn stalks are yellow...some of the soy bean fields are yellow...some leaves on trees are turning fall colors.  But the grass is still GREEN!!

The house is cold today.  We have had rain and it was cold last night.  We are now piling on the blankets.

Kassie's boyfriend is coming on Sunday, and we are preparing for that.  I have laid down some really tough rules....and they both have agreed to abide by them!  He is a gentleman, and has a lot of respect for Kassie and shows us a lot of respect as well.  His mom will pick him up on Wednesday so there won't be a lot of time , but she wants friends to meet him.

We have wonderful pictures in the challenge "Motorized Transportation".  Check them out and add some of your own!  HERE

There is Power in the Blood I love that song and love to sing it  can hear in my hear right now. Thank you Judy for posting that song.

I have been for my Mammo, went to Walmart to try on a couple of sport bras. I didn't like them.I see the Ortho Doc on Monday and will find out whether or not I will be having the surgery on my left hand and when. I have been trying to prepare myself and practice doing things one handed. That is pretty hard to do.
