God's Work, Today's World: Prophecy
by Dr. David Jeremiah

And so we have the prophetic word confirmed, which you do well to heed as a light that shines in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts.
2 Peter 1:19

Recommended Reading
1 Peter 1:10-12

As far back as 1500 B.C., the planet Venus was noted as the "morning star" and "evening star" depending on the time of year—the brightest object in the nighttime sky after the moon. When in its "morning star" phase, it became a symbol—a sign that the darkness of night was about to be replaced by the light of day.

The idea of darkness being replaced by light was a prophetic image as well: "The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light; those who dwelt in the land of the shadow of death, upon them a light has shined" (Isaiah 9:2). Isaiah also saw the Servant of the Lord coming as a "light to the Gentiles" (Isaiah 42:6; 49:6; 60:3), a prophetic theme that continued with the coming of Christ (Luke 2:32; Acts 13:47; 26:23). Peter reminded his readers that the prophetic word about Christ has been confirmed; we should heed that word until Christ the Morning Star returns to fill the world with His light (Revelation 22:16).

Prophecy is the light that cuts through the darkness with hope in Christ's return.

No Bible subject holds more practical implications than the matter of prophecy.

Here we are on a fresh new page!  Jeanne, thanks for that word from David Jeremiah.  This year, I am reading/studying from the Jeremiah study Bible, and what a wealth of insights I gain from his notes!  I certainly agree on the importance of prophecy!

Our pastor Kris spoke this morning on "What are you doing, living without JOY? "  It was a good and inspiring message.  Jesus commanded us to rejoice, and again He said rejoice!  What a difference it would make if all who know the Lord truly lived joy-filled lives.  For the most part, I am a joyful person, but of course I don't claim to do this, or anything else, perfectly.  But I am growing in the right direction.

John called yesterday.  He was in Ohio and making good time.  Said he thought he will be here tomorrow!   :)

I will wait to see what else John brings with him before taking more to his apartment.  I have no idea what he will bring in the way of kitchen stuff.  One thing he needs right away is a shower curtain!  But he can buy those things here, too.

I need to call Jeff.  I got an invitation to Tiffany's shower, and it is this coming Saturday--near St. Louis!  This is grandson Mark's fiancee.  Mark flew the plane there, and will fly out to take his mom and me or Jeff, if he wants to go, to the shower, and then back home!  So I think I need to be finding out if I'm going!  ;)

I hope all of you are having a wonderful Sunday and beginning  a blessed week with our loving Lord!

Hi, friends,
Last night, something moved in either my right hip or my low back. At any rate, I'm very sore and moving gingerly, I believe our Lord has touched my back that has kept me so close to home recently. I hope to be able to go back to church next Sunday.

Other than that good news, I think I'll ponder Dr. Jeremiah's teachings and rest today.

Much love to all,
Ruth Ann

Hi everyone on this Monday morning.  There was a very fine mist in the air as I walked the 5 minutes this morning.  I like to get out early before it warms up. I have a light schedule for today.  Just need to dump the ice from the ice maker as it isn't dispensing correctly this morning and then at noon plan on attending a meeting.  I will also replace three more batteries in my smoke alarms.

Yesterday some batteries I had ordered from Amazon were to be delivered but when I looked on my porch after receiving notice they had been delivered they were not there.  Last night in bed I realized they might be in the mail box and when I looked this morning there they were.  It made sense as they were delivered by the Post Office and it was raining fairly hard at the time of delivery.

I just listened to two beautiful pieces of music and want to share them with you all today if you are interested.

Ruth Ann, sorry to read that you have some new back problems and pains.  Not a good way to start a new week.  Please don't overdo this week and take care of yourself first.

Janet, I know you will be relieved to see John and know his long trip is over.  I also try to live a joyful life and feel that for the most part I do.  Hope you get to attend the Tiffany's shower as I expect you would enjoy it a lot more than Jeff would.  Going to a bridal or baby shower is just not my thing--guess I am too old fashioned as these were always things the ladies did.  It is a different experience to fly in a small plane and you really get to see a lot of the land if you are not flying through clouds.  It also avoids all the hassle of a big airport.  Does your town have a airport runway?

Jeanne, thanks for the Devotional from David Jeremiah.  Christ will fill the world with His light and it is certainly needed in today's dark world.

Janet

Good Monday morning to you all!  I see Larry has been here, and I am so thankful for his faithfulness in posting.  I really miss those who don't often come--please come back, folks!

John called yesterday evening to tell me he is back in Kansas!  He was spending the night in Bonner Springs, somewhere near Kansas City, so he should be arriving this afternoon!  Beth will be SO
happy!!

I had a really hard time going to sleep last night, so got up and stayed up until I felt like I could sleep.  It was a short night, but I asked my Father to make it sufficient for the day!

Plans for going to the shower have changed.  They decided it would be too costly for Mark to fly here to get us, fly us there, then fly us home and return.  So Jeff and Diane are driving.  They said both Darrel and I are welcome to go with them, but he doesn't want to go, and I am wavering about it.  I'd really like to be there, but it will mean three days away, missing Beth's birthday, and probably getting home tired again.  We do plan to go to the wedding.  So I may not go this time.  I'm still praying about it.

It's another beautiful morning here in our corner of Kansas!  We have been to the gym and now I must go shower and see what else the day holds for me.  I might drive over to Hugoton and have lunch with daughter Diane and discuss plans for the weekend.

Prayers for Ruth  Ann's back pain to cease!  thank you R A for your comment - my back pain is very little as compared to most everyone else - I shouldn't even mention it.

We watched a movie last night that was incredible and now I don't have the name.  It is all about Israel and the mixture of Jews and Christians with Pastor Hagee, D'nish Desouza or however you spell their names - others well-known commenting as well on how we need to support Israel in prayers and all ways.  I learned so much - how there have been miracles in Israel so many times.

Today, still more heavy haze from the fires.  No, so far neither of my brother's have had fire near their houses.  The damage is incredible though and loss of life so traumatic to the area.  Loss of houses, jobs, transportation and I just can't imagine the stress.

We are setting up a week of care for neighbors - Don is taking her to the doctor one day - or I will and he can stay with her husband.  She has bruised hip tissue and wrenched her back in a fall - on a walker and really told to rest in bed.  She is better this morning.  They are the couple who invited us to church - and we stayed with them on Sundays.  Now, we are all moaning about the loud and jazzy music that irritates us older folks.

Thank you Larry for the wonderful music.

I know the stock market is plunging - it is time to reevaluate how we live.

Hi, friends,

Hi everyone on a sunny Tuesday morning with the temperature to be around 90 degrees this afternoon.  As I walked a little while ago it was very pleasant outside.  Our son was over to have dinner with us and enjoy some of his mother's homemade chicken soup.  While here he was able to get my other desktop computer working with Windows 10.  He is going to meet me for breakfast when I go to coffee at 10 am this morning and then plans on coming back over for awhile this morning as he doesn't have to work until 5 pm this evening.  I have no other plans for today as got a lot of little chores done yesterday and am looking forward to a more restful day today.

Janet, good to read of the progress John has made on his trip and to know he will arrive this afternoon.  I bet this will be a long morning for Beth as she awaits his arrival.  I am sure you will make the right decision on attending the shower.  I wondered when I read about the flying plans if it wouldn't be pretty expensive for the two trips.

Carol, of course you should mention your back pain as it is affecting your life at the moment.  That sounds like an interesting film.  It has been a long time since I watched Pastor Hagee but found his messages good and very Bible based.  It is undoubtedly a tough time for Israel with the United States government basically turning out backs on them.  Nice of you to plan for a way to help your neighbors.  There are so many good people in this world and yet all the focus is generally on the not so good in people. The stock market situation is scary but we have been through times like this before and recovered although it took a long time.

Ruth Ann, hope today finds you feeling better and your foray yesterday didn't set your back recovery back.  (That isn't a very good sentence but says what I wanted to say.)

Well this has been a day .........I had the brakes done on the car, It took time and I was content with reading a book from John's cousin.... (Great book I must say!) We went for a test drive and all was good. I drove off and stopped to text my daughter. And noticed the break pedal went to the floor. Pumped the brakes and again to the floor. I thankfully hadn't left the parking lot so backed up and stopped. I told the mechanic that we had a problem and he came and hopped in the car.....and found there was no break pressure. Back up into the sky and he found the problem. A break line had sprung a leak, and he hadn't touched any of the break lines....Not his fault. They took the line off and fixed the line. It had been rubbing on something, rusted out, and started leaking at the place where I could get the necessary help. About 5:30 I was on my way with full working brakes. I am so thankful it happened there at Wasi Garage, not coming down the road at Blue Mountain. God is good! All the time!

Hebrews 11:1 (KJV) Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

[attachimg=1]

Today when the young man was fixing the break line he was working with one hand looking out the door....I took this picture as it reminded me of the above verse. He had faith in the fact that the part he was fixing was exactly where it should be.
Do we have that kind of faith in an "unseen" God?

Janet

Judy, there are so many tight places when working on a vehicle, that they do have to have faith, to know what they are doing by touch.  Glad your problem was discovered there at the garage and not on the way down a mountain!!  Yes, God is good----all the time!!  ;)

Larry, glad you have had some quality time with your son.  I drove over to Hugoton to spend a little time with Diane yesterday, and it was good timing, as she was needing to 'vent.'  Mom is a safe one to do that with!  She really wants me to go with them this weekend, so I guess I will do that.

When I got home, Darrel said John had called at 1:30 to say he was here, so I called him, then met him at his apartment and helped him unload his car.  He looked pretty weary!  I gathered a car full of things he needs so I will take those to him when I finish here.  I talked to him about not being here for Beth's birthday, and he thinks having a little something for her after I get home will be fine.  I have had a party for her every year for several years now, so hadn't planned to do that, just a small celebration with her, John, Darrel and me, probably.

Boy!  I'm tired!  We went to the gym and worked out, then came home and I changed into old shoes and we went out to try to dig the mud out of the well housing.  UGH.  Wet mud is HEAVY!!  I climbed down a ladder into the housing, stepped into the mud, sinking almost to my shoe tops, and then dug away with a little garden trowel (not enough room in there for a shovel!) put the mud in a 5 gal. bucket, not half full, and handed it up to Darrel.  By the time we did the first bucket, our renter who lives right by the well and was off work came out, and he got a rope and tied it to the bail of the bucket, and from then on, he pulled it up and dumped it.  I barely had room with the pressure tank, the relays, the pipes and the switch box, to bend over and dig!  After we had removed several inches of it, I told them, "One more bucket, and I'm done for today!"  We left the cover off so it can dry out better.  We have to get it out of there, before it rains again!  Anyhow, that's why I'm tired.  :P

I need to call John and see when he will be able to meet me so I can unload his things from my car!  Talk to you later!

Hi everyone on a beautiful 71 degree South Carolina morning with clear skies and a high today only in the high 80's (still warm but much better than the high 90's).  Yesterday I did go to coffee at 10 am and then had a quiet afternoon.  Last evening Pat and I went to Wifesaver's for a very good chicken dinner.  I have nothing on the schedule for today until this evening when Pat will go back to spend the night at the sleep clinic for the second part of her sleep study that she wasn't able to do before. I did do a 10 minute walk this morning as want to increase my walking time gradually.  I find taking a nitro tablet before starting to walk works well and that may be the key to being able to walk more.  I would like to get away from having to use the riding carts at the large markets.

Judy, I just now read through the postings regarding Mike's successful heart transplant.  How fortunate you had not left the repair facility when your brakes failed.  God was looking out for you.

Janet, I think Pat and I are serving as a safety valve for our son as he continues to struggle with his grief.  He knows he doesn't have to try to hide his tears or his feelings from us and we know that our role is to listen and give him lots of hugs each time we see him.  He did come to coffee and we had breakfast yesterday morning.  He was in a better emotional state that the day before.  I am sure Beth will understand your attending the shower and whether a birthday is celebrated on the actual calendar day or early or late is usually not very important.  Janet, are you sure digging mud out of a hole in the ground is in your job description?  No wonder you are exhausted.  Nice of your renter to lend a hand.

Janet

No, Larry, I don't think that mud digging job is in my job description.  But--who would we get to do it?  Nobody seems to want to do odd jobs any more.  And since I am the only one here who is able to get down in there in the very cramped space and do it--I guess I'm it. :-\  Boy, I was so sore by mid-afternoon that every move hurt!  And same all night.  So I went to the gym this morning, so Kristi could show me the proper stretches to relieve the pain, and she did!  She is a wonder, that girl!  I feel a lot better, still tired but not in as much pain.  We figure we got the job about half done.  :-\

John is getting settled in nicely; getting things he needs to add to the things we gave him.  He cooked for Beth today at his place today, and since I was there at that time, I got to eat some pizza, too.  ;)  They are both so happy to be together and know it's for keeps.  It's really touching to watch their interaction and the looks of happiness and love on their faces.  :)

I'm having so much frustration with this new iPhone!!!  Grrrrr!   :ticked:

Gotta go, need to rest a bit.

Hi, friends,

I'm so thankful the cleaning lady came today. We're in the process of having our annual inspection, so it's good to know I should pass without difficulty.

Yes, I'm still having my back problems. I may be forced to go back to the doctor to get another of those steroid injections in my spine. Since that's a surgical procedure and very painful, I still hope I will be able to avoid that visit.

Other than that, it's a joy to be able to "listen" as y'all converse.

May our Lord touch us as He knows our individual needs.

Much love to all,

Blessings of a beautiful rain that should clear our smokey air - all from the Northwest and West.   My brother sent me a video he filmed while a fire and a very high wind was there - it is just devastating.  He drives a water truck - believe I said it before that he is a volunteer fireman.  He is right outside of Chelan, Washington.
Today, the town of Omak is evacuating again, my cousin's daughter and family live there.  A grim time for all.

Larry:  It sounds like you have discovered the best way to walk and safest for you.  Nitro first then walk.

Ruth Ann:  Our friend and neighbor has spine pain and has injections pretty much on schedule then the week before each injection, she has a lot of pain.  May this really help your back pain!

Janet:  If you have to do this ditch digging, it is very nice that you can have therapy - maybe a massage or two would be nice.  Once, a sciatica episode drove me to a massage therapist and it helped right away.

We are tuckered - after several stores for shopping, etc & one big box one that is just loaded with cars and people - why aren't these people working?  I know - they work out of their houses like two of my children.   ;)

Janet

Carol, I wasn't digging a ditch!  I was down inside the well housing, digging out mud that was threatening to cause us thousands of dollars in well repairs again!  And it was such tight space that I couldn't get in a good position for the work I was doing!  Altogether a really hard job.  I have friends who swear by massages, and I'm sure they do help a lot of people, but it hasn't been my experience for them to help me very much.  However, I had a few in other countries that really did help!  I like the really deep tissue type massages.

:( I still haven't gotten the invoice for Beth's new wheelchair.  It was supposed to get here by the end of the business day YESTERDAY.  I do appreciate it when things are done as promised.  But I talked to Aaron today and he said he was the hold-up, so I can't blame the office staff.  I am leaving early in the morning, so now it will be Monday I guess, before I can get the money to them and they can start building the chair.   Of course, we want it yesterday!  ;)  I am so hopeful it will make Beth's life easier and more comfortable--John's, too!  I want to have it before their wedding!

I am doubly frustrated with this iPhone!!   :ticked: :ticked: :ticked:  I cannot get the voicemail set up on it, as it wants a password  (MORE passwords!!) this one four digit number, and if I put anything in there, I do not remember doing it.   And of course, I can't find a way to change it, either!

Diane and Jeff are to stop by and pick me up at 7 in the morning, so I'd better go pack a few things!  See you Monday, I hope!

Hi, friends,

Well, it was a relatively busy day today. I took my sister in law to the doctor, then to a couple of other places for her errands.

So, I'm a bit tired this evening.

It's past time for dinner, so I'll close, wishing that all who come here have a wonderful rest of the day with our Lord.

Hi everyone on a very pleasant 71 degree morning.  It was very nice weather in which to walk this morning.  Today the housekeeper will be here and I need to go to Walmart to make a return and to pick up some medicine as well as a few grocery items.  I think that will be about it for today.

Carol, the fire situation is very personal for you with family caught up in fighting it or having to leave their home.  I have come to believe there is another working world out there who are night time workers and thus have time to shop during the day light hours.

Janet, I have never had a massage but Pat got started a few months before we moved and went almost every week.  She resisted the idea thinking the many sore spots would make it too painful but finally found out that is not the case.  Take a look at this website as it may help you in resetting your password for voicemail  on you new iPhone.

Ruth Ann, hope you got along well yesterday with your busy day and that your back behaved.

Hi, friends,

Well, poof!! My post disappeared.

Activities today were accomplished quickly. First I cast my ballot today. I'm so thankful for the opportunity to vote early, which allows Nashville voters to go to the early voting location of choice and usually there's not a long line with which to deal.

Second, I planned to go to the voting location in accordance with my need for gasoline. One area of town is offering gasoline at $2.019.  Other areas are charging as much as $2.399. What a savings!

Now, I think I'll check a few other things on the internet, then enjoy a snack and watch a bit of television.

Y'all have a really good day.

Our sky is more blue than gray today with lessening of smoke - still not healthy.  Don treated me to a wonderful fish lunch since a terrific coupon arrived in the mail.  I had lemon sole and he had walleye.  Both are favorites to us.  It was just perfect - and then we had coffee at a little shop - waited on by a young girl with two silver rings in her nose large fake black eyelashes - layered makeup.  It was all I could do to order two coffees - but they were really good.

An email arrived from our very lonely now single friend in Scottsdale - he wants us to visit in October so we will fit that into our schedule and he wants to come to the genealogy classes I am planning to register in - so I will do my best to get him started.  Little do I know  :-[

Our gasoline is higher here - for whatever the reason.  Politics, I suspect.  Also, the state is planning many more lanes for traffic but a one-way commute into Denver is $7 plus.  It is insane.  That is all I have to say.  I will never cross into that lane.....

Janet:  Is the wedding coming up soon?  I hope it isn't too hot of a day for all of you.  If it is Sept., think about all those beautiful mums - my anniversary is in Sept.

Don fixed my laptop and it is not dragging - I have been washing clothes, bedding and everything in sight today - still at it.  Wonderful sun and breeze outdoors and with two drying racks, all is fresh and nice.

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  It is an overcast day and there is a good chance we will see some showers sometime today.  It was 67 this morning when I was walking.  I had to stop at 9 minutes today as was getting some serious arm pain.

I can't think of anything significant that I accomplished yesterday other than the trip to Walmart yesterday morning.  Then just had a quiet day until evening when Pat and I went to a new Mexican Restaurant that opened this week over by the Walmart to go to.  They were very busy and unorganized and when we finally got our food it was only warm and not hot as they always serve Mexican food.  I saw one couple get up and leave their food uneaten and know it was because it was cold.  The flavor of the food was good but they are going to have to get their act together and improve their service or they won't make it.  We won't go back for a few weeks to give them time to get a trained staff and get organized.  I think they were just overwhelmed.  It was called Pablo's and I think it is part of a chain but not sure.

I fixed Pat some scrambled eggs with sausage and cheese for breakfast so she could conserve her energy.  She is going to attend a ladies event at the church this morning where they are making small pillows to give to cancer patients.  Their goal is 100 pillows.  She has a bag of fabric to take and hopes to be able to stay for the two hours they are meeting and help.  I am going to take her because parking may be a problem.  This is her first such outing since her surgery.

I did get out early and water my flowers on the front porch and do my morning walk although had to stop at the nine minute mark as I was getting some serious pain in my left arm.  I had taken a nitro before starting to walk.  I will probably watch some of the golf tourney this week.  Next week college football will begin and I am ready.

Ruth Ann, is that a local election?  Our gas as of yesterday was $1.89 and I plan on filling up today.

Carol, when you said "it was all I could do" I expected to read "not to break out in laughter".  Glad the coffee was good to top off a good meal.  I also watch coupons for good deals at restaurants as every little bit helps.  Atlanta has the special tolled lanes on the Interstate and the cost varies by the time of day and the traffic volume.  The more cars in the lanes the more it costs.  People have to have special stickers that can be read by the scanners and then are billed monthly for the use of the lanes.

Carol

We are expecting a SKYPE call from one grandson  after dinnertime.

Larry:  I am sorry that your nitro pill didn't do its job yesterday.  Thank the Lord - you had a warning to stop and go home to rest.

Yes,  that girl was one shocker - I wanted to tell her that she would look so pretty by changing a few things - = but it isn't my business.

There is a family walking past the ravine, pulling a little red wagon with a toddler in it - we had a med size red wagon and pulled two or three at a time - the oldest one pulled.

Hi everyone on a lightly raining Sunday morning.  I went out and brought back breakfast for Pat and I this morning.  It is a change from the routine and it was very tasty.  She is hoping to come to Church this morning but is not going to try to do both Sunday School and Church.  I will go ahead and attend Sunday School.  We will probably go somewhere for lunch.  That will be it for today.

Carol, I had the same problem again this morning and had to stop after 8 minutes of walking.  I opened a fresh bottle of Nitro so know it wasn't ineffective pills.  At least I got some walking in for today.  We don't see my children's wagons anymore.  Pat and I gave our great grandchildren a red wagon for the one Christmas we were able to be with them.  I doubt that it got moved when they left and went to New York.

Marilyn, nice pictures of a beautiful dog and nice looking lady.  I had to chuckle at the Tutu and collar.  Did Freckles mind wearing these?

Larry she didn't seem to ,ind but was a little reluctant to do her dead dog routine when I issued the BANG! command.
