Don: Hey Judy, It's been a long time. Hope you are doing well. 2024-12-02, 22:41:41

JennyW: Hello Everyone! Just checking in to see if anyone wants to get this group going again! Hope all is well where ever you live! 2024-08-14, 08:21:59

Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Oldiesmann: So sorry for your loss Carol. Praying for you and your family :( 2022-05-01, 17:13:05

Today is the Class of 1960 luncheon.  I will be glad when today is over.  I have been super busy this week.  But then this next week will be cleaning the house for Bible Study next Thursday.

It was fun playing with Kitty's cats last evening.  They were hungry for company and attention!

And the pizza place was a hit with the other Red Hatters.  Each of them got a brochure and the days and times of the pizza buffet so they can take their grandkids down to see all the displays of basketball.  We visited GoodWill and Everythings A Dollar store and came back home by way of the country roads.

My laptop is doing a Windows Update so I had better post before it restarts!

Ruth Ann Bice

Hi, friends,

Well, what an eventful time of it! I'm home from a 4-day visit to the hospital, including a bit of surgery. So, now I've learned how to administer the IVs in my arm for the next 2 weeks, and a home health nurse will be coming daily for additional wound care and other things.

I developed an infection last week, treated it myself until Friday, then saw the doctor. He cautioned me that if the site got worse, it would require an immediate call to the on-call doctor. He send me to the emergency room, and then they admitted me.

So, now y'all know the first of the story...we'll all learn the rest of it as my health improves! :)

Much love to all.

Ruth Ann
...his compassions fail not.  They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.

Marilyn

Oh Ruth Ann  I will be praying for you. I am sorry to hear that you got that infection and had to have some surgery.

Hi Folks.
Ruth Anne sorry to here about your hospital visit. Glad to hear your home again. Know how you feel. Its not nice to have to go to hospital and endure the tests and surgery, but it is the best place to be when something is amiss. Anyway hope you are feeling better and on the mend again.
Had a slow day today. Just kind of puttered around a bit but not doing to much of anything. Enjoying the warm summer weather and according to long range forecast this weather is suppose to hold right through to next Tues so far. Good for the farmers in our area. They are sure making the best of it in the fields. Had a friend invite me to go fishing. think I might take him up on his offer sometime next week. Well going to call it a night for now Be back Tomorrow. Bonesy

Al: Thank you for your special prayer for Don and his new doctor.  You are so thoughtful with everyone and it is so much appreciated.

JudyB:  and Ruth:When we were in Nanaimo, Don was able to get into a little clinic - he was taken last but we were so grateful.  A very nice east Indian doctor - caring and he took time to talk to Don and also consulted with another friend who was a specialist.  Total bill for us was $80 Canadian which we thought was very reasonable.  Have heard too many horror stories though.

Ruth Ann:  Oh, my goodness.  You are doing well now it sounds like in your note.  Do you have someone to check on you & bring you a meal or attention?  Hugs to you.

Larry:  It is an MP3 and actually, I am figuring it out.  A docking station was ordered - it doesn't work.  What kind of a donut did you have with your coffee?  I like to have two small ones at least to make it worthwhile the trip.  Must stay away now.

Don had over an hour in the meeting with the new doctor and he had a full hearing test.  He is on Prednisone for a while in case there was any damage.  I could tell them that yes, there is a lot of damage.  There is hope that this will pass in 6 to 8 weeks with time.  For his sake mainly, I am praying that there is healing - most certainly he will buy a stronger set of hearing aids after the 2nd. appointment and checkup.
Today, he awoke with a raging sore throat so I have given him antibiotic cough drops and amoxocillan - all bought in either Canada or Mexico because we in the US cannot be trusted with any over the counter meds.

Don't get me started on the forced health care this administration wants - they want to control 1/6th of the economy with health restrictions.

The temp is 59* F and nice and cooling off the house.  I am going to take a walk.  Always grateful for walking and it is a good time to reflect on blessings.

QuoteI am going to take a walk.  Always grateful for walking and it is a good time to reflect on blessings.
That's the way I feel when I am mowing the lawn.  Count my blessings and solve the problems of the world.

I don't know what is going on but Ivalou called with sad news yesterday.  Her granddaughter, Lauren, age 22, not married, found out yesterday that she has breast cancer also.  The doctor told her to go home and that he would take care of getting her to the hospital for surgery!  So now she is waiting for the call.  And with no insurance.  Even though Lauren is deathly scared of needles, she will be fine.  She has such a bubbly attitude on life!  So say a prayer for Lauren while praying for Keri, my niece, with breast cancer also.

The Class of 1960 was fun.  We had 14 class members and one came that I haven't seen since May 18, 1960, the night of graduation!!  I had to get dressed in a hurry and the first time ever, I left my partial plate in the bathroom sink!  I tried eating salad first and gave up.  I would still be there.  Then I started taking pictures with my camera and the LCD screen went black.  Battery died.  And my other 3 sets of batteries were at home...so no pictures!!  Bummer of a day with lots of good tossed in!

Today is a nothing day.  Nothing planned.  Hooray!

I've been having some dizziness that started in the middle of Wednesday night. It is only when I  turn over in bed or hang my head off the side of the bed. I think it is my ear again and something called Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo.

I've had it twice before years ago.  The first time it lasted 3 months, when I was still living in the desert and working at the library there, that was also when I first  became a member of the old site that Anthony had and met y-all.

The 2nd time only 24 hours not too long after I moved to McKinelyville and was living next door to Gilbert. There are exercises that are supposed to help it to stop but so far it hasn't worked.

I went to exercise class yesterday and  when we had to lay on the floor the dizziness came on very bad and I had to get myself together  enough to drive home and lay down on the couch. good thing I only had to drive  about 3 blocks.

Oh well this too shall pass.

Etta Sue I have prayed for Lauren and Keri as I was reading your post.

Hi everyone.  This has been a very busy day and I am feeling the weariness from it.  Went to coffee (as usual) and walked a mile at the gym.  Then I went to the Senior Center for our SeniorNet Computer Learning Center meeting.

This was a very important and we voted 45-0 to disassociate with SeniorNet because they have basically disassociated with us except to accept our money.  As of January 1st we will become an independent computer training center for seniors.  Our county people have been most helpful and cooperative with us.  Following the meeting we had a business lunch.

Then I had a meeting with a friend at from 1 pm until after 2:30.  Finally I stopped at Sam's Club to return some memory foam pillows we purchased yesterday.  I came home and rested for an hour or so.  While resting I continued to explore my iPod Touch, watching streaming video and amazing things you can do with it.  Fortunately I am through running for today.

Marilyn, I have had a couple of friends who suffered with vertigo and the treatment was to do something that would reposition the "rocks" in the ear that relate to balance.  When you said you hung your head over the side of the bed I thought of what my friend said he had to do and it worked after a bit.

Etta Sue, so sorry to read of the cancer problems of these young women.  Hope this was early detection and full recovery will result.  It sounds like your luncheon was just one of those things that happen when nothing seems to go as we would wish.  Makes us appreciate all the times when things go right.

Carol, I usually just split a soft drink with Pat but occasionally have a bagel (cinnamon and raisin).  The last couple of weeks Pat has ordered three donut holes.  Sure hope Don's hearing improves and glad he is getting treatment.  Too bad about the iPod docking station.

Bonesy, hope you will treat yourself and go fishing with your friend.  Hope your leg is getting better.

Ruth Ann, I wondered why we hadn't heard from you.  It sounds like you are experiencing what my daughter went through about three times, including a fairly long hospital stay.  She had to have a pic line put in two different times to accommodate the IV antibiotics.  Do you have a pic line?  Please take good care of yourself.

JudyB

Well today I have done more peas and beans down.  Have a wack load of zucchini to do but that will be tomorrow.  We both are tired.  I was mowing yesterday and a branch from a cedar tree bounced back and hit me in the eye.   John's compression hose has been denied by our benefit plan.  As a result this hasn't been a very good day.

You know I keep saying that God will provide.  And I know He will.  It is just tough some days.

Good news though, we finally have summer.  Hot and clear.  This is to continue till next Tuesday.

Janet

Prayers flying upward for you, dear Ruth Ann!  I'm so sorry you have had another rough patch.

Carol, hope you and Don soon get some good news. For sure, we all have a lot to be concerned about regarding health care.

The cyber gremlins seem to have it in for me tonight.  2/3 of my post just disappeared!  :-\  I guess I will take the hint and go away.  :'(

Just going to say hi for today.  Nothing new to write about.  Just plan to do the normal things for today.  If anything exciting happens I will pop back by.

Etta Sue

Kitty gave me an Espon Stylus Photo 1280 printer.  I was looking forward to being able to print my large photos since it prints larger than 8" x 10".  I tried installing it for my laptop but it wouldn't work.  I needed drivers for Vista.  So I downloaded and paid for Driver Robot.  Still didn't work.  Then I went to the Epson website and found out that Vista drivers are not available for that printer.  So now I am trying to get my money back.  Next week I will try the desktop.

In the meantime, my laptop was running terrible.  So I did a restore and then uninstalled Driver Robot.  Now it is back to normal.  Sometimes we mess things up trying to do things.  Funny part was Driver Robot found 15 areas to update the drivers.  Then I checked with a Free scan from Epson and they said I had 15 drivers that needed updates AFTER I updated with Driver Robot!  Hoax!!!

This evening Ivalou, Betty, Marge and I are going to the movies!  Then out to eat.

Nothing else planned for today.  Just still picking up and putting away for Bible Study.

Etta Sue, the same sort of thing happened to me a couple weeks ago.  :-\  I was having trouble staying online, kept getting kicked back to the home page of MSN.  Then I got the message that I had several viruses present and should update to something or other.  I followed the suggestions and got into worse trouble than before!  I decided to run SpyBot that I already had on my PC and there were no viruses found.   About that time I realized I had been caught in a hoax.

Well, I restored to a date previous to the famous MSN update and, while I still have a few problems, everything is working as before.  I understand what's happening, at least, and know the reason I'm getting dumped.  I'm still on dial-up and running WinME, so whenever I'm at a site where there are lots of photos or other applications (like Facebook), the memory gets full and can't continue to run the programs until I reboot.

That's okay ... I don't have much else to occupy my time these daze so I can afford to mess with this machine for longer periods than others of y'all can.  One of these days I'll get myself in gear and make the trip to California again and my grandson is going to make everything all better for me!   I've heard that patience is a virtue ..... I can wait.  :D

Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass .... it's about learning to dance in the rain!

Marilyn

No one has been here since this morning. I am not dizzy anymore, Thank you Jesus!
I called Gilbert today to see what their plans are for the weekend of Labor Day. I may be going to California to visit them and also to go to church with Willa at my old church.

Well Good  night everyone, Have a blessed night.

Back home - I went up to the mountains with son & wife to work on the cabin for two days.  Yikes, am tired.  Don stayed home with sore throat.  He doesn't dare try to go to church tomorrow until his throat heals.

Marilyn:  Thankful for your dizzy spell is over!

Etta Sue:  A real concern for two of your nieces having breast cancer - they are in my prayers.

Etta Sue

Thanks for all the prayers for Keri and Lauren.  We know Keri is having surgery Sept 11.  She has opted to have both breasts removed and to have re-constructive surgery.  Lauren, I don't know yet.  On Facebook she says she is 'scared'...as she should be.  We don't know if hers is malignant or not but the doctor says it must come out.  When we don't know.

'Julie and Julia' is a fantastic movie.  Go see it!  Of course, Meryl Streep is wonderful in every movie she is in.

I found out Kitty is back home from St. Louis.  Her and Bob took their grandson, Alex there.  He will be 14 so he may become too big to go with grandma and grandpa soon... :'(

I am all ready for church.  I am sure we will eat out somewhere today and then Sunday is my day for an afternoon nap.  Didn't sleep well last night.

Hi everyone.  It is quiet in our house this morning as Pat is still asleep.  She got little, if any, sleep during the night as her foot was cramping.  So she was up all night.  Finally about 6:30 this morning she took a muscle relaxant and feel asleep.  I am pretty sure she will not be attending church today.  I am ready and will leave in about 40 minutes.

We had plans to go down and have lunch with our daughter.  However, she called this morning saying she was in a lot of pain and would just as soon reschedule.  I told her that worked out well as her mother hadn't rested during the night.  It is also suppose to rain here today.

Etta Sue, those popup warning of virus are almost always hoaxes and should be ignored.  I have heard it is better to go to control-alt-delete and select and close them rather than using the red x as some programmers are using the red x as a link to install their malicious program.  I have run into the problem of hardware not working with VISTA in the printer category.  So far I have the XP desktop so that hasn't been a problem.

Carol, it sounds like you working really hard on that cabin.  Hope it will soon be ready so it can be used for relaxation rather than work.  Hope Don is feeling better today.

Marilyn, I hope you will be able to see your son soon.  We have worked out an arrangement with our son to meet he and his wife about half-way.  This makes it a much more enjoyable trip for all concerned.

Jane, I don't think I would have the patience you describe having with the computer.  I do hope your grandson can update your computer soon.

I hope this is a wonderful day for all who visit here.  Even in our trials God is with us to help us carry the burden and his blessing are so freely given.  Someone shared this with me the other day and I really like it:  "Worry is interest paid on troubles that haven't come yet".  I don't know about you but I sure don't like to pay interest.  :)

Al Moak

Good thoughts, Larry.  We ought to have more interest in the interest-free gift God gave us in His Son.

Ruth

Larry:   Meeting with family halfway is fun less driving and longer to visit the only draw back you miss out on the visit in their or our home.

A beautiful day here in southern Ontario.

Hi Marilyn - I will check email.  Thank you.  I have had him gargling with warm salt water & it is better.  I think both of us were run down by the long drive of over 5,000 miles.  He is taking out a little hornets nest right now.

Lots of phone conversations & two sons stopped by - standing their distance so they wouldn't catch the crud at this house.  It is great - we are pretty involved with them by living close & next Saturday the entire family meets for a going-away party for a grandson - to private school so he can play hockey.  We will be asking for angels to watch over him.  Group of angels.

Larry:  It isn't too bad to work up there but then - there is our own place here.  Grateful to have the health we do have right now.  Sorry about Pat's foot aching all night long and I hope it went away with the muscle relaxer.

Time to start a new week, and new page. Here

Hopefully we'll have lots and lots of post during the coming week!
