Don: Hey Judy, It's been a long time. Hope you are doing well. 2024-12-02, 22:41:41

JennyW: Hello Everyone! Just checking in to see if anyone wants to get this group going again! Hope all is well where ever you live! 2024-08-14, 08:21:59

Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

I have river rocks around my house for landscaping.  I also have sea shells scattered on the east and north side in the river rocks.  Makes me smile when I see a pretty sea shell among the rocks.

And Jean, I am with you.  Too much trouble for me to put up decorations and then take them down.  I never have much company so no one would see it but me and the kitties.  I did get my red plastic bows from the garage and I like to wire-tie them to spindles on the deck but it is too cold out there to do that right now!  I did get out a little tree that is motion detector that sings Ho HO HO!  Merry Christmas...when you pass by it.  The cats jump each time!!

I see the big truck just drove in my drive to fill up my tank of bottle gas....$$$.  But I haven't had a fill since May!

Not going anywhere today.  Just want to make a grocery list so when I do go out I can get some groceries.

It has been a much nicer day than yesterday with lots of sun.

Our dinner last evening was the best, roast beet, mashed potatoes, mixed veg. a green salad, and cake for dessert, tea or coffee plus a glass of wine if you desired.
\The entertainment was the guides and brownies singing carols followed by all of us a candy cane.  Then after we ate the Fiddlers group from the area played while those that could danced.

Then we had a 10 am appointment which we had to have changed as we really did feel that it was later in the day.

Happy Birthdays to all.
In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.  Proverbs 3:6

It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas
(Click to hear music)

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas
Ev'rywhere you go;
Take a look in the five-and-ten, glistening once again
With candy canes and silver lanes aglow.

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas,
Toys in ev'ry store,
But the prettiest sight to see is the holly that will be
On your own front door.

A pair of hopalong boots and a pistol that shoots
Is the wish of Barney and Ben;
Dolls that will talk and will go for a walk
Is the hope of Janice and Jen;
And Mom and Dad can hardly wait for school to start again.

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas
Ev'rywhere you go;
There's a tree in the Grand Hotel, one in the park as well,
The sturdy kind that doesn't mind the snow.

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas;
Soon the bells will start,
And the thing that will make them ring is the carol that you sing
Right within your heart.

JudyB

Ruth Glad you've had sun we have had snow..... trade places?

Why don't doctors listen to 78 year old ladies about things they've dealt with all their lives?  >:( My GP refused to believe I needed Vitamin K before extraction of my teeth and wouldn't prescribe it.  So I had six teeth removed yesterday and it took over 4 hours before the bleeding stopped enough to stop biting down on gauze 2 x 2's and give up the ice pack.  Today there's still a little "oozing" and I'm avoiding any hot liquids, although my tongue is hanging out for a cup of hot coffee.  And of course I'm only eating very soft things like yogurt and drinking Ensure.  Maybe I'll lose a couple of pounds.   ;)

Hello, Soni!!!  Come back and tell us all about yourself, those four lovely children, your daughter-in-law AND your precious grandson!  You are too young to be a grandmother!!

Brrr!  Still cold in Indiana.  I took some letters to the mailbox this morning in 8 degree weather.  No wind so it wasn't too bad.  Just glad to be back in the house!

Please pray for my classmate Rex in Mexico.  I haven't heard from him since a week ago yesterday when he called me on his cell phone from Tijuana.  Marina and him were there for her to buy some clothing for her little store in Magdelena and to get her daughter and granddaughter from Cancun at the airport.  They were to go back to Magdelena on Friday but I haven't heard anything.  Just wish someone in the family knew better English AND the computer to let me know...or his son...or his sister.  Just pray that I hear something soon.

Jeanne that is terrible.  Do you have any straws?  Perhaps you could have coffee through a straw?  Perhaps you need a new GP? I know we can't change here...

SONI!!!!!  Welcome back!

I pray you hear something soon Etta Sue.

Now to sing again.

Let There Be Peace on Earth
(Click to hear music)

Circa 1955
Words and Music by Jill Jackson and Sy Miller

Let There Be Peace On Earth,
and let it begin with me.
Let There Be Peace On Earth,
the peace that was meant to be.

With God as our Father,
brothers all are we,
Let me walk with my brother,
in perfect harmony.

Let peace begin with me,
let this be the moment now,
With ev-'ry step I take,
let this be my solemn vow,

To take each moment and live each moment
in peace, eternally.
Let There Be Peace On Earth,

Judy, I mentioned straws to the dentist and he immediately said not to use a straw.  It puts pressure on the extraction site and makes it bleed more.  I'll just continue drinking my coffee cold for another day or so.

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  It is almost 4 pm and it is only 34 degrees here in the South.  It didn't even get to 40 degrees today.

I just spoke with Paul and they are planning on stopping here Friday night and then will continue on home on Saturday.  We look forward to another brief visit with them.  I am sure they will have some interesting things to say about their visits in Florida.

Pat and I attended Bible Study this morning but skipped the coffee afterwards.  We needed to do some shopping, including getting gift cards at Walmart for our three great grandchildren.  We did this for their birthdays and they apparently had a great time shopping on the Internet for the toys that they wanted.  Neither Pat nor I are really up to trying to do much shopping.  We are expecting our son and daughter-in-law to be here  on the 26th for our family Christmas.  This was a surprise and we are looking forward to it.  Pat has started to decorate the house a little by doing a little bit at a time.  Our daughter will be here also so it should be a fun day.

We have our next to last choir practice this evening.  I think our music is about ready.  We will have a dress rehearsal on Saturday morning with the orchestra.  I can't wait.

Jeanne, I remember having one tooth extracted and it wasn't fun.  I can't imagine 6 at one time.  IT sounds like a good time for a lot of ice cream.  :)  Hope you will be feeling much better tomorrow.

I have been in touch with Marilyn and she asked me to e-mail her the entries for CP as she is missing everyone.  For some reason she has not been able to sign on and has tried many different things.  Today I suggested she contact her ISP.  She can get on Seniors and Friends but cannot even get to the CP site.  It makes me wonder about the ISP blocking a Christian site.  Stranger things have happened.

I will not try to address everyone today as it is getting late and I have some other things to do.  I was happy to see Soni pop in for a quick visit.

Watchman, Tell Us of the Night
(Click to hear music)

"Watchman, what is left of the night?" Isaiah 21:11

Words: John Bowring, Hymns: As a Sequel to Matins, 1825

Music: "Watchman," Lowell Mason, The Boston Handel and Haydn Society Collection of Church Music, 10th edition, 1831

Watchman, tell us of the night,
What its signs of promise are.
Traveler, o'er yon mountain's height,
See that glory beaming star.
Watchman, does its beauteous ray
Aught of joy or hope foretell?
Traveler, yes—it brings the day,
Promised day of Israel.

Watchman, tell us of the night;
Higher yet that star ascends.
Traveler, blessedness and light,
Peace and truth its course portends.
Watchman, will its beams alone
Gild the spot that gave them birth?
Traveler, ages are its own;
See, it bursts o'er all the earth.

Watchman, tell us of the night,
For the morning seems to dawn.
Traveler, darkness takes its flight,
Doubt and terror are withdrawn.
Watchman, let thy wanderings cease;
Hie thee to thy quiet home.
Traveler, lo! the Prince of Peace,
Lo! the Son of God is come!

Hi everyone.  Peeked in here before going to coffee and see that only Judy has posted a hymn since I posted yesterday.

We had a good choir practice last night and Saturday get to practice with the orchestra that is accompanying us on Sunday Evening.  I have been looking forward to these two events for a long time.

I have a quiet schedule today.  After coffee I will send off the Christmas box for our granddaughter and great grandchildren.  While Pat is at Bible study this morning I plan on wrapping her gifts.  She know about all of them but one, which will be a surprise for her, as she picked them out and ordered them.  Carol, yesterday she bought the quilting calculator at Jo-Ann's for a little less than half the normal price.  It looks like a very complicated device.  It is suppose to help figure out exactly how much fabric is needed for a quilt.  Do you have one and if so, do you like it?

JudyB

Good morning /afternoon everyone!   Cold here today, but I am snug as a bug in a rug.   The dogs are enjoying the time to run and play.

I am going to get my tea and lets sing again!

Jeanne Lee

Cold here, too, Judy.  Not as cold as you, but cold enough.  I'm nice and snug, too, but I'm going to have to go out twice - once to catch the mail before it gets picked up and once for the impression to be made for my new teeth.

O Come, All Ye Faithful
(Click to hear music)

The shepherds said to one another,
Let us go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened,
which the Lord has told us about.
So they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph,
and the baby, who was lying in the manger.
Luke 2:15-16

Words: John F. Wade,

Music: "Adeste Fideles," John F. Wade (1711-1786)

O come, all ye faithful, joyful and triumphant,
O come ye, O come ye, to Bethlehem.
Come and behold Him, born the King of angels;

Refrain
O come, let us adore Him,
O come, let us adore Him,
O come, let us adore Him,
Christ the Lord.

True God of true God, Light from Light Eternal,
Lo, He shuns not the Virgin's womb;
Son of the Father, begotten, not created;

Refrain

Sing, choirs of angels, sing in exultation;
O sing, all ye citizens of heaven above!
Glory to God, all glory in the highest;

Refrain

See how the shepherds, summoned to His cradle,
Leaving their flocks, draw nigh to gaze;
We too will thither bend our joyful footsteps;

Refrain

Lo! star led chieftains, Magi, Christ adoring,
Offer Him incense, gold, and myrrh;
We to the Christ Child bring our hearts' oblations.

Refrain

Child, for us sinners poor and in the manger,
We would embrace Thee, with love and awe;
Who would not love Thee, loving us so dearly?

Refrain

Yea, Lord, we greet Thee, born this happy morning;
Jesus, to Thee be glory given;
Word of the Father, now in flesh appearing.

Refrain

Another cold day in Indiana.  Only 17 degrees right now!

As I was preparing my coffee and cereal, I saw a fox in the lane to the woods.  I called Ivalou and she saw him, too!  I left my garage doors open all night twice last week.  I better not do that again or I might come face to face with a fox!  He was real skitterish!  Fox are in Indiana but not too plentiful.

Today is my class luncheon.  Not to enthused about it since it is a buffet at a casino.  Never been there.  But it is $5.95 for everything including your drink so you can't beat that.  And I plan to get in some groceries afterwards.  I am even looking forward to that!  It doesn't take much to please me....

I haven't heard anything about Rex yet.

Janet

I haven't yet left the house today.  I was going to go with Beth for her eye appointment, but the dctor was sick, so it got cancelled.

I started doing a little Christmas decorating, and just kept going.  I think I have done about all I am going to do.  I put up a small tree, as don't expect any company this Christmas, except maybe Beth.  But I enjoy the Christmas stuff, so why not?  I sure didn't get everything out, though!

Our weather is still pretty nice.  Sure not the same all across the country, though!

I had a call this morning that I won a prize from the electric company yesterday.  So I will go out and pick it up when I get out.

Larry, so far I have only wrapped one gift!  So you're way ahead of me on that score.

Hi Everyone...

Well, we're leaving Daytona in the morning and heading up to Larry's home.  It will be soooooo nice to see Larry and Pat once again.

I'm going to miss the ocean waves and breakers here though.  I love the ocean so much.

"Click for Waterloo Wellington, Ontario Forecast"

Jeanne Lee

From Larry's will you be heading back to Virginia?
Click for Corinth, New York Forecast" border="0" height="41" width="127

JudyB

Pat I think loving the ocean is inbred in us.  I wish I could go to one of the coasts and sit and watch the waves.  Where will you be for Christmas?

Janet you can do my decorating now that yours is done!  I am just not in the Christmas spirit yet.

Maybe singing will help!

Thou Didst Leave Thy Throne
(Click to hear music)

Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:
But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant,
and was made in the likeness of men
Philippians 2:6-7

Words: Emily E. Elliott, 1864

Music: Timothy R. Matthews, 1876

Thou didst leave Thy throne and Thy kingly crown,
When Thou camest to earth for me;
But in Bethlehem?s home was there found no room
For Thy holy nativity.

Refrain
O come to my heart, Lord Jesus,
There is room in my heart for Thee.

Heaven?s arches rang when the angels sang,
Proclaiming Thy royal degree;
But of lowly birth didst Thou come to earth,
And in great humility.

Refrain

The foxes found rest, and the birds their nest
In the shade of the forest tree;
But Thy couch was the sod, O Thou Son of God,
In the deserts of Galilee.

Refrain

Thou camest, O Lord, with the living Word,
That should set Thy people free;
But with mocking scorn and with crown of thorn,
They bore Thee to Calvary.

Refrain

When the heavens shall ring, and the angels sing,
At Thy coming to victory,
Let Thy voice call me home, saying "Yet there is room,
There is room at My side for thee."

My heart shall rejoice, Lord Jesus,
When Thou comest and callest for me.

Ruth

We had a sunny and cold day.

My sewing that had been waiting for a long time is now done.

I have a counted cross stitch that is almost finished so that will happen in the next couple of days, then I feel that I will do baking to have on hand for the Christmas season. Carrot pudding and a few cookies as I am planning on it being a quiet day.

Judy: I am enjoying the Christmas music.

It will be good to hear from Marilyn again.
In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.  Proverbs 3:6

Pat

What a lovely Christmas carol that is, Judy!  I love that one.  It's one of my favorites.

Pat

Oh, yes...  from Larry's to Winchester, VA--for me for a few days.  I have to watch my time down here.

"Click for Waterloo Wellington, Ontario Forecast"

Janet

Pat, where do you plan to spend Christmas?

Judy, that's another song I have never heard.  :)

I got a lot done today by never leaving the house!  Got the Christmas decorating done, along with some cleaning, finished a batch of Christmas cards I was making, wrote my Christmas letter....all time consuming jobs.  And Judy, I'll be right over!  If I don't show up soon, see Etta Sue's advice to me on that subject.  ;)

How I would love to be near the ocean, too, Pat.  Nothing like it!  But I would not want to be on that big cruise ship that is tossing about in those huge waves!  Wow!  What a ride!  Bet they won't soon forget that cruise!

Darrel worked most of the day today!!  I am so happy, as I was getting really concerned as to his state of health.  He has been spending day after day just sitting in his recliner reading.  So I know he is feeling better now!  Thank you, God.

Another sweet little lady at the care home went home to heaven yesterday.  She is the mother of two of our church friends.  So good to know she's with Jesus now---and her husband.
