Time to head out and buy a few groceries and drop off some sewing I did for quilting.  I fell asleep for a little bit after doing the laundry, cleaning, etc for cousin & wife arrive tomorrow.  All the meals are planned with some things being cooked ahead of time and I made reservations for one meal out - needed the reservations because this is a huge art fair weekend.

Talked with two sons last night & daughter the previous night.  Other son is out of the country.  We love it when they check in with us.

Ruth Ann:  My sympathy on the loss of your friend.  We still feel the loss of our good friend here & there may be more this year.  Maybe you can go for a visit with your friend's relatives when the weather warms & roads are good?  Best to you especially on your health issue.

Don painted the patio floor two days ago and we found three salamanders preserved for eternity on the edges.  Some of that paint is still tacky - it should have dried yesterday.

Larry:  Good idea to hire the movers for that is just too much.

Janet

It is already mid-afternoon!  But I have gotten quite a lot done today.  When I finish here I will go in and visit Beth, as it has been a few days since I visited her.  She will be calling to ask, "Are you ever gonna come see me?"  ;)

Liz it surely was good to read a post from you!  Do come chat with us more often, will you?  We miss you when you don't.  Larry, great news on your getting a charity to come take Stacey"s things.  Hope the cleaning, etc. goes well so that will all be done.  It seems such a short time ago we were dealing with those issues after Darrel's mother passed, and then two months later, my mom.  But I know that can never compare to the loss of a child--of any age.  I intend no disrespect, as I'm sure you well know.

My 97-year-old friend Maxine is doing really well just now.  She isn't in any pain, her hearing has come back, and she seems bright and 'chipper.'  She had lost down to a mere 80 pounds, but assures me that she has gained back THREE of them!  ;)  I do love Maxine!

Ruth Ann, sorry you have sent another dear friend on ahead to heaven.  But you can rejoice for her, she is having a wonderful time there!  And Carol, sorry you, too, have felt the sting of losing another friend.  The older we get, the more loved ones we have there than here!

Judy, how are things in the snowy Northland?

Marilyn, sad to hear of the vet tech's husband's sudden death.  Those things are such a shock to the ones left behind.

Ruth, how are you doing today?  My back is hurting some after another heavy workout.  What doesn't kill me makes me stronger, though!

See you all tomorrow, if not sooner.

Janet I just heard the weather report for the next few days.  Rain on top of our heavy snow load then ore snow. March is to be really cold for most of those who got the Polar vortexes in January. In other words our report isn't good.  Today was beautiful with a +5C (41F) most of the day.

Keep John in prayer as he will be coming home in the weather tomorrow.  He is a safe driver, it is the others that are out there!

Ruth Ann Bice

Hi, friends,

I spoke with my brother who knows a lot about the roads in Ohio, and he strongly advised me against driving there for the funeral, which will be Saturday. So, although it's with deep regret, common sense tells me he's right. So I'll make a charitable donation in her honor and contact the family with my regrets. It certainly was an honor, though, for the daughter who called to tell me of her mother's death commented that I was like a second mother to her. How humbling to hear that.

I've got some challenges for tomorrow. Someone is in dire need of assistance, so I've decided I'll do what I can to help in the situation. But will hold it to what I can do given my own limitations.

Oh, the great news is that the blood reports from my last doctor's visit are great, with one reading, especially, that I've been concerned about for 9 years now being at a normal level. Thanks to our wonderful God.

I've written such a long note tonight - may our Lord richly bless all of you with a real outpouring of His love and grace.

Hi everyone.  It is going to be another pretty day.  I am awaiting a call from the Atlanta Mission to let me know the time I need to meet them at Stacey's apartment today.  This will be a big burden lifted as this will finish getting her things our of the apartment.  I also plan on going to the Cremation Society to  pick up the remains.  Not a pleasant task but necessary.  We have selected a lovely little quilt chest in which to keep them safe in our home. I will also stop and cancel the renter's insurance on the apartment on my way home today.

Our DIL came through her surgery fine yesterday afternoon although it took the doctor longer than he had anticipated as she has become so thin and frail.

Marilyn, what a shock for the Lawrence Family for this to happen so suddenly.  It reminds us that we never know the date or time that the Lord will call us home.

Carol, it sounds like you are ready for your guests.  Pat is at the point that she tries to fix as much a day or so ahead of a meal for guests (and often for us) as possible. Nice that your children keep tabs on you.  I am glad that it wasn't necessary to hire movers and I hadn't contacted any of them when the charity called saying they could pick up today.

Janet, you know your visits bring sunshine into the life of Beth. I would never think your remarks indicated any disrespect so put that out of your mind.  We each have our own experiences and sharing them with others can be helpful to the other person (me) knowing that I am not the first and won't be the last to experience these things.  Glad that Maxine is doing so well.

Judy, bad forecast.  I understand a lot of places will likely experience flooding.  I saw that in Chicago they are preparing sand bags.  I know you will be relieved when you see John pull in to your driveway.

Ruth Ann, sounds like a wise decision to not make the trip to Ohio.  I am sure the family will understand and certainly wouldn't want you to get stranded on the highways. Glad your blood tests turned out well.

Janet

Ruth Ann, I echo Larry's words and also add please don't overdo in trying to help the other person.  You deserve the best of care yourself, you know.  But we also understand your big heart of compassion and your desire to help people.  So just be sure you know your limits, okay?   <3

Larry, I am so glad the big burden of disposing of Stacey's thing will soon be lifted from yours and Pat's shoulders.  I know it's been so hard for both of you.  I'm sending you a big cyber hug! [[[[[ ]]]]].

I am having computer problems!  UGH.  It keeps saying it is configuring Windows update--DO NOT turn off your computer!  Last night it stuck on that for 16 hours, so I powered it down anyway this morning and now it's working again, but I wonder for how long?

Larry, what kind of computer would you advise me to get, keeping in mind that I am the least techy person you know!?  Curtis wants me to get a Mac, but I wonder how hard it would be to learn a whole new thing?  He says Windows 8.1 is really bad, that most people hate it, and that's what all the new Microsoft machines come loaded with new.  Sigh.....what to do?  What to do?  I have to keep computer access to finishe the book I am publishing, and then also my web page to sell them.  And to keep in touch with all of you wonderful friends!

Lon is here!!  Praise God.  He has recovered and is feeling pretty well, so he is trying to finish up the work here.  That will make us and him happy!

I must run, sorry not to finish speaking to each of you but have to go help Lon with something!

Taking a break & I had women's hockey CAN vs USA on.  Our grandson knows some of the young girls from his school so we know he is keeping track.

Coleslaw is chilling.  It is so much cheaper to chop everything yourself but the stuff flys all over the kitchen.  2nd. cleaning today.

Janet:  Beth has been a model of acceptance and faith has carried her though as to living in the assisted home.  Not many people could deal with the separation and I pray for her and you often.  Hugs to you two.

Stay safe everyone.

I had to come back in and share this today:

This has been the most unusual morning.  The man called from the Atlanta Mission saying he would be at the apartment between 9 and 10:30.  It was about 8:35 when he called and it takes me 45 minutes to get there.  He calls again a little after nine from the apartments and I had only made it to I-85 and was about 15 minutes away.  I begged him to wait for me and he said he could wait a few minutes.  I hung up and thought I can call the apartments and ask them to let the man have access to the apartment, which I did.  In a few minutes my phone rang again and the pickup man said they went to the apartment and it had nothing in it.  I was totally shocked.  I get there and the lady who does the leasing went up with me and everything was gone and maintenance had started getting the apartment ready for release.  I asked if I could go ahead and turn in the keys and other items and was told yes and they will refund the security deposit with the overpayment of the rent I had done at the first of the month when I paid her rent.  I had expected to have to make two more trips down their on Saturday and Monday to clean the apartment and then to close out.  I then called the Cremation Society and they told me I could come on over.  Thanks to GPS I found it and signed for the remains and brought them home.  On the way home I stopped at the insurance agency to cancel the renter's policy we had and they are making that effective on the day she passed away.  I also had a call back from the food stamp people saying all is taken care of there. This is a big burden lifted.  We have selected a lovely little quilt chest in which to keep the remains safe in our home.  I also found a handicapped parking space close to the door at the apartments.  No one will ever convince me that God doesn't provide what we need plus more and I am very grateful.

Janet, I think any of the name brand computers should do well for you.  I have had several Lenova computers and will buy that brand again after the way they bent over backwards to correct what I thought was a serious problem, even to the point of replacing the computer with a more expensive one.

Janet

How strange, Larry!  Who could have taken the things from Stacey's apartment?  I know you are relieved just to not have it to deal with, but I would really be wondering who took the stuff!  God does indeed take care of His own.  And He does it in marvelous and sometimes mysterious ways!

I got a new cell phone, but it is on AT&T and their coverage isn't good here in our rural area.  More decisions!  I do have 30 days to return the phone to Sears for a full refund, but have to make the decision  (or need to!) before my contract with Verizon expires on Feb. 27.

Carol, thank you so much.  I do appreciate your kind thoughts and your prayers.  God bless.

Hello everyone.  Larry that is so strange that Stacy's apartment would already be empty. Like Janet said I wonder who  took everything. Did you ask management if they cleaned out the apartment?

Ruthann I hope you don't over do in helping the person who needs help.

I have just been doing busy things today mainly it was the laundry.

Yesterday I managed to get to the Library to get a Library card. I've been thinking about getting a Kindle  after I get my computer paid off, but I do like the fell of a book in hand when I am reading.

Hello everyone:  I have had a full day, I had lunch at a restaurant where a friend works the next time Mel and I will go she is someone that is full of encouragement even if the day is cloudy.  Following that I went to Bolton to pick up a Sears catalogue the also to a health store for some pure cranberry juice, then back home to our local drug store to do a return, picked up the mail. Went to the Tim's drive through for a 2 coffee's and home  Whew I was busy.
I also made it home in time to watch the last of the Canada vs US ladies hockey game. Boy are Ladies are good, in overtime they came through the winners.

Now as I look out the window we have a raging snow storm I thought it was to be rain?????????????

This is usually the only game I watch when it comes to Hockey, Both teams played exceptionally well.  That was a marvelous comeback for the Canadians.  I was going to turn it off when they got their first goal.  so I stayed and watched the remainder.  Now I wonder if anyone caught what I said?  This is the 4th hockey game I have watched since '98!  Men's hockey is so full of unnecessary violence that I can't be bothered.  Thing is it is encouraged in the children when they are learning to play.....

One baby gift is finished and ready to start another for a gal at church. Then there is one more to be done for another gal at our church.  Just little blankets, easy to do but something for the mommy's.

Looks like John will be battling weather tomorrow. Rain, freezing rain and snow for southern Ontario.  Blizzard conditions foretasted for us in the north tomorrow through the weekend.

I am off to bed, Sleep well everyone.

:)  Hi to all.  We had a bad snow storm this afternoon and then tonight it started to rain very heavy so we are hoping that it does not freeze.

Colin:   It was so nice to see your name on this site as it has been so long since you have been here. :coffee:    How is the beautiful gardens I guess you will star very soon doing things in them.  God's richest blessing's  Gordon and Noreen.

Larry:  Boy have you been very busy but you are all finished now but have you been able to find out who took all the things out of Stacey's app.  I hope that you can now relax and take it easy.  God bless.  Gordon.Noreen my wife is still having a lot of pain in her leg and she still does not have an app for  surgery so we have to just wait.  The Lord is helping us get through this thanks to people like you who continue to pray and we ask you to keep on doing this. :)

To all others on C. P. we hope that you have a wonderful weekend and that you all look after yourselves and stay safe.  God's richest blessing's.  Gordon and Noreen. :cp: :rocker: :pine:

Hi everyone.  It soon will be time to go to coffee at the Senior Center.  We had a severe rain and wind storm in the Metro Atlanta area last night and early this morning but it has now passed out of the area and cooler weather is expected but several sunny and nice days.  I plan a quiet day.  This evening we are taking out our dear friends to eat at the Bonefish Grill, which is a very nice restaurant in our area and the only one we go to where you need to call and make reservations.  These are the wonderful friends who were with us at Hospice and helped so much with getting things out of Stacey's apartment that we needed to bring out here.  We are looking forward to the evening. We talked with our son and DIL last evening and she seems to be doing well and should get to go home tomorrow.  She may still have to use the feeding tube for up to 6 months more.

Janet, I don't know who did take the things out of the apartment but think it was the maintenance crew trying to help us.  Other than some cleaning products and some trash bags there was nothing left that I would have brought home.  Frankly, I was delighted.  If you don't have good cellphone coverage with AT&T that could be a problem.  We have AT&T but we live in a very populated area so cell coverage isn't a problem.

Marilyn, I didn't make any real inquiries as it was immaterial at that point as to who had done it as it really save me and the housekeepers a lot of work and extra trips to Atlanta.  I hope you do get a Kindle Fire as you will love it.  I plan on getting Pat a new version for her birthday in a few months.  I have written to my niece, who had the terrible car wreck, to see if she would like to have the one Stacey had as I don't need it since I have the iPad.

Ruth, it has been years since we have had a Sears Catalog and just use the website to search for what we want.  You had a busy day with all those stops. Congrats to the Canadian women on winning the hockey game.

Ruth Ann, hope you got rested last evening.

Judy, John can't seem to get a break with this winter weather.

Gord, hope Noreen hears soon on a surgery date.

Janet

We have a beautiful day here today, after a terrible day yesterday!  It was cold and we had winds up to almost hurricane force!  Ugh.  Did I tell you I dislike the wind  ?  ;)

I am still shopping for a cell phone.  Have decided against the AT&T one, as they use the Westlink  towers, and those are being sold soon, so their coverage around us will be even less than now.  I checked with United Wireless, and it won't save us any money, but would give me lots more features, with the Samsung Galaxy Phone like the one I got from Consumer Cellular.  Decisions, decisions.   :-\  :-\

Lon is better, and is here putting the trim in that room.

Gotta check more phone deals.  Seems any way you jump if you want internet access, will cost an arm and a leg!  :ticked: n And then they add all those unexplained taxes!

Later!

Hi, friends,

I've been resting today, so am beginning to feel more like myself now.

Thank you each one for your support, and for the reports of happenings in your area. I really enjoy coming here to read and to talk.

Y'all have a good rest of the day with our Lord.

Ruth Ann
...his compassions fail not.  They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.

Janet do they have StraightTalk Wireless in your area. You can go to their website and put in your zip code to find out. They use everyone's towers and are powered by tracphone. I  have them and get unlimited everything for $45 a month. Walmart sells the cards or you can get them on the website. I don't know if you can use your Verizon phone with them as i couldn't us my Motorola Citrus Verizon phone. But if your phone has a SIM card   you just replace it with one from Straighttalk you can probably transfer you Samsung Galaxy to them.

I took Happy to the Vet today with another UA It didn't come back good. a month ago it was 255 after two weeks of Amoxicillin it was 55 another two weeks of Amox and it is back up to 255. The vet sent it out for a 2nd opinion to see if there are cancer cells growing in the bladder. I don't want him to suffer and if it is his time then  I will do thright thing for him. It isn't an easy decision to make and I hope I can. It is in God's hands now.

Marilyn it is always hard to "do the right thing".  Praying for you.

The forecast blizzard has arrived. It is brutal. I can't see our neighbour's house down the road.  I don't know how long this will continue....too long for my my liking. the wind is blowing, and none of the dogs wanted to stay out, unusual because they like the snow.

John got a "new to him" cell phone tonight.  We have a pastor down south who can come up with cell phones cheap, he has kept us mobile with cars and cell phones!  There was a period of about 10 years where he supplied us and other church members with cars that were not costly and easy on fuel.  Then he switched focus because the inexpensive cars were gone from the market, and turned to cell phones, He supplied more than one church member with a phone that would last for years......To this day if I am in Guelph I make a point of visiting Dennis, and if I have a mechanical problem he is just a phone call away to guide in problem shooting.

I have enjoyed the Olympics today, All athletes were professional in their sport, and could hold their heads high.

I'm off to bed have a great night everyone.

JudyB

John just called laughing and said, "Trust Dennis to have a Bible program on this phone!"  we laughed about that then he told me that there were actually 2 Bible programs on it!  A pastor who makes sure his flock has the Word to read all the time!

Hi everyone.  It is just daybreak here but it is going to be a sunny day and get up to 67 degrees this afternoon.  We had a great time last night having dinner with dear friends at a very nice restaurant.  It was out treat and a small way to say thanks for all they have done for us in the last couple of weeks.  I think everyone enjoyed their meal.

Janet, you are wise to return your ATT phone if you don't have good cell coverage as you certainly want it to work where you live and drive.

Ruth Ann, glad to see you rested yesterday.

Marilyn, I have a good friend who uses the Tracphone.  I am sure you will make the decision that is best for Happy when that time comes.  (I see Jeanne has already said the same thing so.)

Judy, another blizzard. You can't blame the dogs for not wanting to stay outside.  So nice of your minister to find a cell phone for John.  Having the Bible on the phone is great.  I use the one on my iPhone all the time for our Wednesday Bible study and often at church as it is so handy and easy to pull up any book, chapter and verse.  The one I use is called YouVersion and has many different translations available.

Gord, wonderful news that a goal is now set for Noreen to have the knee repair.

Janet

And a good Saturday morning to all of you!  I've been up since 5, so had a really good time visiting with my heavenly Father!  ;)  My favorite time of the day!

Marilyn, thanks for your input.  My sister has a tracphone but can't use it, I don't remember what the reason is.  I called Consumer Cellular and they said ATT has great coverage in our area, and that if not, we are not tied to any contract, can change our plan at any time, etc.  So we went ahead and added my phone to Darrel's account, they assigned me a temporary number to use until they get my number ported to the new phone, just to assure I won't be without a phone.  Now to begin learning all the wonderful features of the Samsung Galaxy Exhilarate phone.  :) or  :-\...!

I am dressed in my painting clothes, ready to do touch-up on the trim.  Lon got it all installed except for one small window very high up in the wall.  It really looks (if anyone was up that high) into the upstairs room, and we put it in there because there are no windows to the outside upstairs.  That lets me see when Darrel is up there working, (the light shines through) without climbing the stairs or yelling!  I know...TMI.   :-[ :-X

Marilyn, we all have experienced the pain of letting a beloved pet go, and understand you will do right by Happy when you know it is time.  Sorry.  :'(

Larry, I'm so glad you had an enjoyable evening with your friends.  What a lonely and dark place this old world would be, without friends!  Thank you God, for friends.

It's getting daylight here, supposed to get into the high 50s or low 60s today.  And I so hope Lon gets done with the work!  I'm tired of the mess!  But I won't complain, I will just be happy for the progress being made!  That is my confession today.

Gord, wonderful news that Noreen finally has a date for her knee surgery!

Judy, how nice of that pastor to get phones for people!  I have this one I've had for two years that I would give to someone who needs it.  It has a slide-out keyboard, but it isn't a smart phone.  I have disliked it greatly the whole time, because I don't know how to use all its features, the gal at Verizon wouldn't help me, and she said the book is no help at all.  I think she doesn't know how to use it herself.  Oh, well, that's water under the bridge now.  But she did lose Verizon a customer.

I must run!

Just sitting and staring at the computer.  My cousin & his wife left a few minutes ago.  It was another wonderful visit - but ---- their little rescue doggie was constintly underfoot and I was so nervous for Don as he made breakfast.  Cute little dog - doesn't mind at all.  We walked twice yesterday all around the art fair and then we walked into town area to go out to eat so all of us were ready for bed last night.  This is the weekend we park in our spots and only drive out of the area not into town because 200,000 people come to visit the big fair.  I am wondering if we can even park at church tomorrow because that isn't marked well - may have to walk.

Don:   Wondering just what you are laughing about that you found on your computer. ... I don't need to know.  :)

This is strange but I used to be a really good speller.  It has amazed me that I now find myself questioning so many words and then I am never sure if I have spelled it correctly or not.  Falling apart.....

Have a good Saturday and a better Sunday.

John is home. I wanted to head out and take some pictures, he is too tired I think, the pictures won't happen.   :ticked:  I just hope the wind doesn't blow all the snow off the trees.  Mind you the snow is still coming down, and may be for a while.  It brightened up earlier, only to become darker gain and more snow coming down.

I was shocked at the game Finland-USA.  They must have been tired when they were playing.  What a disappointment for them.

Well folks I am going back to see what is happening in Sochi
