Morning Devotional...

Jesus Warns about Troubles
John 15:17--16:4 NLT

(Jesus said) This is my command: Love each other.

"If the world hates you, remember that it hated me first.  The world would love you as one of its own if you belonged to it, but you are no longer part of the world. I chose you to come out of the world, so it hates you.  Do you remember what I told you? 'A slave is not greater than the master.' Since they persecuted me, naturally they will persecute you. And if they had listened to me, they would listen to you.  They will do all this to you because of me, for they have rejected the One who sent me.  They would not be guilty if I had not come and spoken to them. But now they have no excuse for their sin.  Anyone who hates me also hates my Father.  If I hadn't done such miraculous signs among them that no one else could do, they would not be guilty. But as it is, they have seen everything I did, yet they still hate me and my Father.  This fulfills what is written in their Scriptures: 'They hated me without cause.'

"But I will send you the Advocate—the Spirit of truth. He will come to you from the Father and will testify all about me.  And you must also testify about me because you have been with me from the beginning of my ministry.

"I have told you these things so that you won't abandon your faith.  For you will be expelled from the synagogues, and the time is coming when those who kill you will think they are doing a holy service for God.  This is because they have never known the Father or me.  Yes, I'm telling you these things now, so that when they happen, you will remember my warning. I didn't tell you earlier because I was going to be with you for a while longer.

What have you learned recently about loving others?

Christians will get plenty of hatred from the world; from each other we need love and support.

Do you allow small problems to get in the way of loving other believers?

Jesus commands that you love them, and he will give you the strength to do it.

Yes, Etta Sue, SIX YEARS!!!

Six years ago, on April 9, we opened the Christian Photographers website.  Here's a link to our very first topic:  http://www.christianphotographers.com/community/index.php?topic=2.0

Lots of errors in it now and broken links but I think it's just so nice to be able to look back on history!

It  sure seems like much less than six years!  God has indeed used this site in many lives though.  Thank Him for that.  I wish Mieka would come back and bless us with her presence again!

:)  Good evening to all.    HAPPY  BIRTHDAY TO   CHRISTIAN  PHOTOGRAPHERS. <3

It  is good to be here and it has been a very busy week at our house. :)   Thank the Lord for the strength that he gives us.  Today we had a woderful service at our church and we had some baptisims and it was so good to here their testimonies they were all so wonderful and so positive.  We had old and young people do this today.  Our message was from Colossians 3 1-4 and my nephew who is our associate pastor preached and I must say he did an excellent sermon.  Praise the Lord.

Well must go to sleep God bless each one and have a wonderful week.   Gord. <3

As Al remarked: it sure doesn't seem like it's been six years already.  This is a great place and filled with really wonderful friends .... and photographers, but I'm not part of that particular group.

All photographers, preformers, actors, etc.  need an audience .... and THAT'S ME!!   :D

I can ooohhh and aaahhhh really well, y'know.

HAPPY 6th. BIRTHDAY CP!

Happy Birthday CP, six years ago
Not one of you did I know
But now I cannot say that
For I was invited along here by Pat
You're welcome, says she, with a camera or not
Just come on over and give us a jot
With your wit and charm and skill with a poem
We'll welcome you in and make you feel at home
So I says to myself, I will give it a try
Though they only give you coffee and no Ulster fry
I had only a mobile phone to take a picture or two
No fancy camera but I thought it would do
For Christian Photographers was the title of the site
So to post some pictures would be about right
To leave anyone out here would be a shame
That's why I'll not mention anyone by name
Of friends I made who come here each day
Who get their coffee and have something to say
Those who started here will surely know
The ones to this site who come and go
But the One to meet each day when alls said and done
Is the Saviour of us all and God's only Son
So dear Pat my friend and all of the rest
The years you have spent here are six of the best
Now before I go, just another line from me
God bless you all and HAPPY 6th. BIRTHDAY CP!

Colin Moffett

Remember the Indians doing rain dances???  Well, I think you guys are reveling so much that it is SNOWING in Indiana!  Yep!  Ya heard right.  SNOW!  And so much rain in the last 24 hours!  Dark and gloomy.  The snow isn't sticking.  Not actually snow..not white flakes...white rain!  Does that make sense?  More like sleet than snow but it is only 31 degrees and only suppose to get to 35 degrees today.

But party on...I am anxious to what else you can cause here in Indiana!!!   :roflBig:

Today Ivalou, Jane, Betty and I are going to Jim Dandy restaurant with a group of old folks from church!  We are them also!  Then this evening is a council meeting at church.  I am not a very good council member...I have missed two meetings since Christmas... :'(  Once when it was changed to the second Monday and I have Photo Guild...last month when I was in Florida!

Party on!  And thanks Colin for that great poem!  We need dancers, too!  Where's Marilyn?

Etta Sue

Something weird.  I couldn't post until I put something in the subject line!  So I put 'Subject' and posted!!  Thick rain causing cyberspooks????

Pat

Thanks for the poem, Colin!

I just knew you'd come through with one.  We have a whole week so maybe you'll even think of more during the week!

Yes, it's been six years and yes, we've see folks come and go and then some have come back!  And that's wonderful.

But our purpose on this site is to glorify Christ.

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone and Happy Birthday to Christian Photographers.  While I didn't know of this site initially, Pat contacted me and invited me to participate.  Like Jane my interests are not photography oriented but I have come to care very much about all the folks who post here.

Yesterday our choir performed our Easter Cantata and, as usual, our director got a good performance from us.  The soloists were very good and the choir held up their part. I hope we got a good recording of it.

Pat and I didn't go out to lunch with the group as they were going to a place we really don't care to go.  Rather, we came home and changed clothes and went up to our local Mexican place and shared a full order of nachos with half chicken and half beef.  They were good.

Today is my normal Monday luncheon with a group of men friends.  Today we are going to a buffet so will be able to have a great salad and whatever else strikes my fancy.  It is not an expensive place but the food has always been good.

It is windy and chilly here this morning, only 48 degrees, and the paper says we may have some snow during the night and it is only to be 45 degrees here tomorrow.  Time to put the electric blanket back on the bed.

Colin, thanks for the special poem for the great occasion we are celebrating.

Pat, thank you for starting and sustaining this website.  I certainly appreciate it.

Gord Brown

:)Good day to all.   Thank you Colin for your great poem and we do miss you being on the site so don't be shy and come more often :)

Pat.  Hope all is well and that you and Paul are keeping healthy.  Love ya sis. <3

Larry:  You always sound like you are busy and that is a good thing.  May the bless you and Pat and give you much strength.  God bless. :coffee:

To all others have a wonderful day.

Although I have not participated for awhile I still glance at the photo's of everyone.  It is interesting how God gives us all a different view on the same subject, yet on the gospel we can also find common views Amen!
Keep up the great work everyone, may God allow us to capture the beauty of his creation, and glorify him in the images that we share with others........

Here I am: I was in California for the weekend for  forest's 9th birthday party, I got back at 6 last night.

Friday night we had a  little excitement here. I was getting ready for bed , the dogs were in there with me and the cat wanted in too. So I opened the door and picked up the cat, he spotted Bebe standing there and  with all his claws  wide open he took a flying leap out of my hands ripping flesh as he went.  It took ½ roll of paper towels and we still didn't get the bleeding stopped, but I did get a good look at my wounds and told Keith I better have stitches.

He got the car half way out of the garage and told me it would probably be a 3 hour wait to be seen, so I decided to just wait and see if I could get the bleeding stopped. We wrapped  my two little fingers up in large bandaids put more on the back of my right hand and the sides of both hands and I went to bed.

On Saturday I went a head with my plans to go to California and had Sarah, (My DIL and nurse) take a look and fix me up. She got me all fixed up with the bandages I purchased on the way south. You might make a note of the following:

She told me never never never use peroxide to clean a wound. You know how peroxide makes you skin white well that is the dermis dying. She said you can use alcohol but that burn a lot so to use the Betadine or the Iodine  mixture that surgeons use to paint on before and after surgery to clean a wound. She also said that peroxide and cause and feed a staph infection,.

The birthday party was fun, the kids and all the adults except for us 2 grandma's played laser tag. Forest insisted  on my riding in the front seat of the truck and that I should sleep in his bedroom. We went out to dinner on Saturday night, man is it ever expensive to take a family out to dinner.

Al we went to the Six Rivers Brewery  for dinner, they have pretty good food there.

Hello everyone.    This morning we woke to winter wet snow and lots of it, I am so glad that I could just stay in watch.

I just got around to catching up on the past days entries Happy Birthday to CP
Pat:   I needed your hymns to help heal my soul.  Late Saturday evening I got a very very disturbing phone call  and as a result I spent the evening and most of Sunday in tears, perhaps it was meant to happen as I feel that I have been given freedom to make changes as the Lord guides.

We had a late lunch but we both are feeling a little hungry so time to have a look in the frig.

That's beautiful, Jane.  To me, friendship is possibly the most satisfying and delightful relationships amongst humanity.  Even the marriage relationship is enhanced when the partners are friends - which is not always the case.  Friends bless friends.

Happy 6th anniversary especially to those who established this website and help keep it going!

I forgot to mention how once in a while, a photo takes on a meaning of its own.  This picture of the crosses is one of those!  I was recently asked to provide a series of pictures with Scripture to be used for an upcoming 2010 calendar.  My wife and I were taking a road trip and discussing which pictures to use for the calendar.  She asked if I had any pictures that would have an Easter theme and I mentioned that I did not.  She suggested a picture of a cross, so we kept our eyes open as we traveled.  As it turned out, I saw these crosses in front of a church along the highway in Lake George, CO, on our return trip, so we pulled over.  Excitedly, I grabbed our digital camera (Canon A80).  I was "in the zone", trying different angles, taking advantage of the beautiful late afternoon sunlight.  The camera has a flipout, adjustable viewscreen and the thought occured to me to bend low and take a picture from ground level.  I knelt before the crosses to take advantage of this angle, when suddenly, it dawned on me that I was kneeling before the crosses.  I had to stop a minute as I considered how I was actually doing what had been mentioned by our pastor the night before at the Saturday evening service - I was actually kneeling before the cross!  What an incredible blessing as I considered what it would have been like to kneel before the nail-pierced, pain-racked feet of Jesus on the cross, then looking up into his grimacing, yet forgiving eyes.

I hope this picture brings at least some of the blessing and inspiration to you that it did to me as I took it!

Happy Good Friday and Easter!

(PS:  I used a "firelight" filter in my photo editing software to make the reds, oranges and yellows.)

Pat

Thank you Jerry!

It's so nice to see your post.

Thanks so much for the lovely reminder of our Savior who died on the Cross for us shedding His precious blood.  We'll be thinking especially of this wonderful event this weekend too.

Thanks so much!

Jerry's wonderful message to us reminded me of this hymn:

Kneel at the Cross
(Click to hear music)

Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name
that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,
in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confesss that
Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
Philippians 2:9-11

by Charles. E. Moody

Kneel at the cross,
Christ will meet you there,
Come while he waits for you;
List to his voice,
Leave with him your care
And begin life a new.

Refrain
Kneel at the cross,
Leave every care
Kneel at the cross,
Jesus will meet you there.

Kneel at the cross,
Give your idols up,
Look unto realms above;
Turn not away
To life's sparkling cup;
Trust only in His love.

Refrain
