Janet: Hello, Friends!  Let's get this going again!  I miss  hearing from all of you! 2025-01-23, 19:26:16

Don: Hey Judy, It's been a long time. Hope you are doing well. 2024-12-02, 22:41:41

JennyW: Hello Everyone! Just checking in to see if anyone wants to get this group going again! Hope all is well where ever you live! 2024-08-14, 08:21:59

Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Oldiesmann: So sorry for your loss Carol. Praying for you and your family :( 2022-05-01, 17:13:05

Morning Devotional...

Knowledge That Bloats

Verse

Knowledge puffs up, but love builds up. First Corinthians 8:1

The soul of man, says Matthew Arnold, is a mirror suspended on a cord, turning in every breeze, always reflecting what is before it but never reflecting more than a small part of the whole.

The size of the mirror varies from man to man, but no one is able to comprehend the vast panorama that lies before and around us. The mental giant has a larger mirror, to be sure, but even the largest is pathetically small.

As long as we know that our view of truth is partial we can preserve that humbleness of mind appropriate to the circumstances; but let us once get the notion that our view is total and we become intellectually intolerant. Let us become convinced that ours is the only sensible view and our ability to learn dies instantly.

Thought

Recall of errors in understanding truth encourage humility, without which we tend to assume intellectual infallibility altogether erroneous. We have all known those afflicted with that disease. Are we ourselves infected?

Prayer

Lord, I have not mastered Your Word. I am still a struggling student. Help me to remember that fact.

From Devotions By Dr. Tozer

:)  Don:  Thanks for your message and we do not see ourselves as a mirror but we should really think about that as what others see in us.  The  Lord bless you.

As you can see it is very late hope that you all have a wonderful week.

Anthony

Thanks for the message Don.  That was very thought-provoking.

It is thawing in my part of the country thankfully, so got to work easily.  I will start going out on calls tomorrow, but just shadowing with an experienced worker.

Hello Jane, it's nice to see you again.  I do hope that you are able to sort everything out with your computer and Internet.  These things are nice when they are working properly  ::)

I hope everybody has a great day.  I'm off for a cup of coffee -  :coffee:

I, too, was surprised of how many were at church yesterday.  I guess when it is as cold as it was, there must have not been anything else to do... :idiot:  We have five elders at our little church and about every three weeks, one of them will be the 'preacher' and give their testimony.  Yesterday George did a great talk...funny, serious, scripture and sad.  We have one more elder to give his testimony and then Pastor Steve will have to start working again!

Today is the beginning of another busy week.  The second week of the month is always busiest for me.  Tonight Photo Guild.  Tomorrow night is Beef and Boards to see 'The Foreigner'.  Ivalou is planning on going!!  Wednesday is Speech Therapy at the rehab center and at 3pm is Euchre.  Thursday is my class luncheon!  Friday is rest!

Today on the radio it was said that we have not been above freezing this year.  The highest temperature was 23°.  I don't remember what day that was.

JudyB

Anthony what do you do that you have to shadow a worker.

Etta Sue I am hoping with all the business you have good nights and are rested.

Gord aren't late nights normal for you?  Isn't that a throwback from bus driving days?  I know it is for me.

Anyone I missed, God Bless you

Jeanne Lee

Etta Sue, you do indeed have a busy week ahead of you.  Looks as though you'll be glad when your "empty" Friday comes along.   :D

Thanks, Don for giving us a little A.W. Tozer - always good.  Thankfully, not only do we need reminding that we don't "have it all," but it's encouraging to realize that our living, loving Lord DOES have it all, and we can get all we need from Him.

Here's a hymn that tells us all about it:

Praise the Saviour, Ye Who Know Him
(Click to hear music)

We thank Thee,
and praise Thy glorious Name.
1 Chronicles 29:13

Words: Thomas Kelly
Music: Acclaim, traditional German melody

Praise the Savior, ye who know Him!
Who can tell how much we owe Him?
Gladly let us render to Him
All we are and have.

Jesus is the Name that charms us,
He for conflict fits and arms us;
Nothing moves and nothing harms us
While we trust in Him.

Trust in Him, ye saints, forever,
He is faithful, changing never;
Neither force nor guile can sever
Those He loves from Him.

Keep us, Lord, O keep us cleaving
To Thyself, and still believing,
Till the hour of receiving
Promised joys with Thee.

Then we shall be where we would be,
Then we shall be what we should be,
Things that are not now, nor could be,
Soon shall be our own.

G'Morning ... I have had quite a time getting here this morning, but I am here ... momentarily.

I will be leaving in a few minutes for exercise class ... Then, it will be hunker down and endure this next storm system that is coming.

Don, I enjoyed the devotional for this week.  I have been quite surprised, and humbled, several times over the years to learn what other people see in me.  :-[  Really, all I would want anyone to see is Jesus in me.  Need to get myself out of the way so He can be seen.

Judy, I would imagine what Anthony means is that he is just going along with an experienced worker to observe ... to "learn the ropes" so to speak.

Gotta go now .... y'all take care and I'll be back as I can manage this new way of connecting.    :-\
Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass .... it's about learning to dance in the rain!

JudyB

Jane my curiosity is ...in what field?

Anthony

Just had a nice relaxing evening.  Was feeling a bit fretful about things and then read the hymn that Al placed up - what a beauty - this verse helped so much:

QuoteJesus is the Name that charms us,
He for conflict fits and arms us;
Nothing moves and nothing harms us
While we trust in Him.

Thanks Al, and thanks to God for caring for people like us  :)

JudyB - I've gone into the caring profession - so I visit elderly people in their homes.  I had to get my name checked by the police and everything.

Etta Sue, I am just a poor Englishman - what in the world is "Beef and Boards to see the Foreigner" and "Euchrie"??  Whatever they are I do pray that you have grace to get through your busy schedule.

Jane,
QuoteReally, all I would want anyone to see is Jesus in me.  Need to get myself out of the way so He can be seen.
That's a beautiful thought Jane - God can give us all the desires of our heart.

Well, I am going to watch "All Creatures Great and Small" with my cat for an hour and then get ready for bed.

God bless all.

Anthony.

Anthony

I don't know where to post this question, so please excuse me.  I am having a problem when posting my messages.  When I get to the bottom of the text-box my type disappears. Has anyone else had the same problem and is there a way to rectify the problem?  It's a nuisance having to continually scroll to the type.

Thanks for the help.

Anthony.

Hello  everyone.  The sun was shining when I came home from exercise class (the same class Jane went to) ow it has clouded up again. I need to get in a good walk with the dogs before this storm Jane mentioned comes in.

Jane I am bidding on the Flat Belly diet book on eBay..

Anthony is your mum still living? Being a carer is a very interesting position. I loved it when  was still working. You meet such interesting people and it  is always goo to help those who can't help them selves anymore.

Hi everyone.  Just did typical things today plus a quick trip to Walmart and Walgreen's.  I went to Ruby Tuesday's and had the salad bar for our men's luncheon.  One of the men makes very fine ballpoint pens with exotic woods and he gave each of us one of them today.  It is a thing of beauty made with Zebra Wood from Africa.

Don, thanks for the devotional for this week.  As others have said the writings of Dr. Tozar always seem to hit the mark.

Janet

Anthony, I am likely the least techie one here, so I can't help you with your problem.  Larry is very good, as are Jeanne and Pat and others.  I hope they see your question and help you.  Good for you, going into the care field; I'm sure there is a great need for more men doing that kind of work.

We had another beautiful day today.  I went back to the gym after a three weeks absence.  I think I will go sign up for the "Community Meltdown" tonight.  That's a program of wellness, including initial blood work, that lasts eight weeks.  They have teams of three people each.  Winners get prizes.

I just made the final payment on our next adventure trip.  It will be in April, to Guatemala and Costa Rica.

See you all another time!
My book Rising Above available at JanetDamon.com

JudyB

Anthony I had that problem.  It seemed to stop when I shut down and reboot.  Another way is to go directly to "Preview".  That may eliminate the problem.

This is a busy day and I have a lot to say but no time at the moment.  I will be back

Ruth Ann Bice

Hi, friends, It's good to hear from everyone again. Judy, thanks for that "go to preview" tip. I just keep on typing even though I can't see it, and then hope for the best.

:D
...his compassions fail not.  They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.

OK  The news.

The Mennonite man that had the accident (he was hit by the car).  His back has been broken.  He has been moved to the Hospital in North Bay again.  This now is closer for the family.  The christian community in our town has raised money to help the family with the expences they are facing.  The man who was driving the car that hit the buggy, has been charged with dangerous driving.  If convicted he will loose his license.

Kass actually received the insignia to put on her uniform.  There are several top ranks who are aging out, (they can finish their 18th year) so that leaves room for upward promotions.  She is looking at and deciding which summer camp she wants to go to.  Perhaps band, which will be a boost in her school music.

John is heading out to Minnesota again.  He is leaving tomorrow morning early.  He has already headed to bed, I am tired so I am heading that way as well.

Have a great night everyone

JudyB

My Computer says 4:00 am...I know that is wrong but it is what it feels like,  I was just informed that it is 7:03.

John has gone, the girls are ready to go and I think I will go back to bed till 9:00.

I will be back later.

Jeanne Lee

Judy, I hope you're getting your extra couple hours of zzzz's.

It's still chilly here but much warmer than it has been the last few days.  We may even get above freezing on Friday.   :)

Judy if your clock is loosing time it may be that the battery on the mother board is about to go. The battery is there to keep the Volatile memory charged so the computer can remember the bios settings. If you continue to loose time it's probably time for a new battery.

Don:  Thanks for that information on the computer clock.  I hope your day is blessed.

Larry:  Making pens out of exotic wood - that is exactly the hobby my Don took on when he retired - I told him before he retired that he needed more hobbies than just travel travel all the time and he does beautiful workmanship as well - he made candle sticks for me, pulls for overhead fans and so many things.  I have a pen made from olive trees in Bethlehem that is so precious I finally took it out of my purse to keep at home - he buys from a Christian family there and they trim the olive trees that are ancient.  Isn't that neat?

JudyB:  Sleep isn't too good here either but I slept last night - it seems that every third night I can sleep soundly.  You Kassie has a wonderful trait and that is she is dependable and continues her work to advance and "do better".

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  It is a beautiful and not so cold day here.  I just got back from morning coffee and walking a few laps at the church gym.

I have a meeting this morning and afterwards a salad and soup lunch at a friends house.  Unfortunately Pat has a bad cold and doesn't feel like attending today.  She had counted on it and is disappointed but knows it is best she stay home.

Anthony, the advice you got is sound.  In the box below the postings you have only a few lines available and then have to scroll.  However, hitting the preview button gives you a bigger box and also makes the various html commands available after you highlight the area you want to apply the command to.

Anthony ~ 'Beef and Boards' is a dinner theater in Indianapolis.  When going you have a buffet dinner and a stage show...acting, singing and/or dancing.  'Beef' because they always have Prime Rib Beef and 'Boards' for the stage they perform on.  Four of us ladies are VIP members and our tickets are half price.  We have been going for about 5 years now.  A wonderful night out for us gals!  You can read about Beef and Boards here

As for Euchre...Euchre is a card game that is generally only in the Indiana and Ohio or the midwest U. S. A.  I learned to play Euchre while I was in grade school.  My Euchre Club are 8 ladies that play Euchre each month at different homes.  That is two card tables of four each.  We rotate partners so we are partners with each lady.  Then of course, we eat a meal and have dessert!  Another great time of fun and fellowship.

Photo Guild was great with over 60 digital photos plus printed photos and slides to view and are gently critiqued.  We can submit three photos and one bonus each month that is pre-arranged.  I suggested our bonus for February be like 'Senior and Friends'...where everyone has an image emailed to them...they then do whatever they want to that image and email it to the secretary to be shown at the next meeting.  Everyone thought that was a great idea.  So from last nights images three were chosen and will be emailed to each member.  Then they can choose one to manipulate for their bonus photo in February!  I guess I am a copy cat but it is a great idea and I give credit for whoever chose to do this on 'Seniors and Friends' website.

Like nearly everywhere else, today is a bit warmer than all the other days so far in 2010!!!  It is so bright and sunny!  Even my solar heat is working today!

And last night was the greatest night's rest I have had for a very long time.  Finally I woke up in the same position I was when I went to sleep!  So rested!!!  I love my new mattress!!!

Etta Sue, it sounds like fun to adapt the "Fun with Fotos" concept to email.  ;)  I'm glad you're enjoying your new mattress and getting some much needed rest.

Don Thank you for the info about the battery.  I will have to find out where to get a new one and where it goes.  about once a month in one day it will loose about 3 - 4 hours,  I will fix it and the puter will be fine for another month or so.  It is almost like someone is changing  it on me.  It is only the hour time that is wrong.

Carol

Quilting group is coming tonight so I have cleaned the house, baked a lemon dessert for tonight, baked a rich coffee cake for tomorrow's quilt group and wouldn't you know - it is our table's turn to bring treats to the Bible Study tomorrow morning so they will get cookies, I made the dough today.  I have to admit that I am aching a little in a thumb area and one shoulder - it is probably arthritis.

Judy you didn't say what OS you are using but if it is XP it should automatically re-sync itself. You say it is loosing by the hour so go check and make sure you have it set for the correct time zone. The path for XP would be start, control panel, date and time, click the time zone tab at the top to see what time zone is selected.

Edit:Just double click the clock icon in the task bar, It's the same as the path above.

Check me if I'm wrong, Don, but Judy, I don't think it's the battery.  If it were the battery, it would affect more than just the hour.  You've got a gremlin.
