JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Well, I managed to hit some sort of key, and right in front of my eyes, my post disappeared from the posting box.  :o

It's been a good day here in Nashville, with temps rising almost to 60 degrees! The weather forecaster says we'll enjoy a couple more of these spring-like days (my goodness! I could certainly get spoiled very quickly) and then will probably revert to more wintry days.

I spoke with a man at Radio Shack, where I went to inquire about the converters that will be needed next year to allow those of us with older tvs to continue to watch tv after Feb 17, 2009.

1. Radio Shack can print out the request form - the US government is offering two $40 off coupons per home to help soften the blow of purchasing a converter box for each tv.

2. The converters will go on sale in a couple of weeks, with an expected price of almost $70.

3. The coupons, when received, will be valid for 90 days.

4. The man said that Radio Shack employees will assist those who need the help in completing the request form.

5. And, of course, they will be selling the converters.

I'm thankful that the price won't be completely above the limited purses and billfolds of those on fixed incomes.

Also, I was able to do some grocery shopping today, took myself out to a late lunch, spoke with my daughter on the phone, and also got to briefly see my brother again before he left for Cincinnati.

I've thanked God all day long for the wonderful opportunity to unwind and enjoy the beauty of a warm winter's day.

Good nite, friends.

:)   Thanks for all the great post's today and the past few days.  I am enjoying the time that I can read them and also be able to think about how much this sight is able to halp others in the way that we are all praying for the many request's .  Again I want to thank you for the many times that you have done that for Noreen and I.  She still has many things that she need's prayer for and that the Lord would guide our wonderful Christian doctor in which direction to go for treatment's for her.

Pat:  I am glad to see you got home safely and also I love that  old hymn Day By Day it brings back memories.   Look after yourself big sis.

Judy B.  Hope that John got home safely and takes the needed time for rest. I see that you are very busy <3

To all others that posted thanks for your stories and your encouragement.  May you all have a blessed day in the Lord's house this Sunday.   God Bless.  Gord.

Hi everyone.  I have to be at church at 10 am for a special choir practice with the seniors of our church.  Each year around Valentine's Day we have Senior Sunday and those 50 and over fill the choir loft and provide the special anthem.  This year we are doing a combination of "Blessed Assurance' and "No One Ever Care For Me Like Jesus".  Next Sunday we will be singing it and then there is a special luncheon for seniors with entertainment provided.  It is always a special day.

I am feeling much better this morning than I did yesterday.  I had a rather idle day yesterday as didn't feel like moving around much.

JudyB, I thought my wife had an expensive sewing/quilting machine, but nothing like that one.  That would have been out of our price range for sure.  Did lots of women come and buy fabric yesterday?

Is watching the Super Bowl a big event in Cananda?  It certainly seems to be here in the USA and sometimes the games are actually boring after all the hype.  I always hope for a competive game regardless of the winners.

Ruth Ann, I applied for a certificate for the converter box the first day it was available.  I tried to register online at the designated website but there were errors on the page so ended up calling.  I understand they won't issue the certificates until the boxes are available in the stores.  I feel there is something very wrong in having the Imperial Federal government mandate something like this and it should be a product of the marketplace.  Just my opinion.

Janet, I am sure you would almost have preferred there be a problem with the refrigerator than the outlet after all the effort you went through to get the new refrigerator.  Hopefully it is another crisis resolved for Beth.

Liz, thanks for the explanation on the countertop.  I think you daughter and son-in-law are wise to update their home.  I watch some of the reality selling programs on TV and it seems that all the buyers are looking for at least granite countertops and updated applicances in the kitchen.

Marilyn, I have to go through and clean out my computer periodically like you have just done.

Good to see everyone else posting and a special hi to you all.  It is time for me to leave for church.  Pat and I will both be driving this morning as she doesn't need to be at church until 11:15.

Good morning, friends. It's supposed to be a beautiful day here in Nashville. How much I enjoy it when the little breaks from wet, icy, wintry days occur down here in Nashville. Today, the temp is expected to rise to 60 degrees!

Y'all have a wonderful day in the Lord.

Good Morning. You don't have to get one of those converters if you have Cable or a satellite dish they convert it for you. If you have either of those check with your provider first before you purchase anything.

Still raining here no sign of it clearing up today. I am ready for church and wondering is the Super bowl is going to be on ESPN I don't get the big 3 networks with the dish.

Larry I still need to clean more out of my computer I have a bazillion PSP tubes that need to go on CD yesterday i put some of my plug and backup files on CD and that cleared about 10 gigs off my hard drive.

TTYL when I get home from church.

Church was great this morning.  For the second service, the Assistant Teen Minister preached today.  First time I have heard him preach.  Normally he is one who is in a skit...hair greased down, parted in the middle, horn rimmed glasses with white tape holding them together, plaid shirt, plaid tie that doesn't match the shirt, bib overalls, clunky shoes!  Now you see the picture.     But today Charlie cleaned up really well and he gave a very great sermon on 'Clearly'.

Later I went to Taco Bell and I got my car washed in Pendleton.  Just a drive thru car wash but my car looked like a Palomino .. spotted brown and it is actually dark teal in color.  My windows were terrible.  All of it due to so much salt that Indiana has had to put on the roads.  All the roads look gray!!

I feel a nap coming on.  Another Saturday night that I didn't want to go to sleep but kept yawning.  Way after midnight before I got into la-la land!

Since I don't watch football, let me know who won, okay?    Last years Super Bowl was sooooo  much better!!

Hey, folks, I hate to tell you, but I already KNOW who will win the Super Bowl---the team with the most points at the end of the game!   (Sorry... :-X)

I had a headache all night, and it really intensified during church.  The light was hurting my eyes, the right one in particular.  I hope when I get new glasses the headaches will stop.  I had headaches and migraines for years, but they stopped about 15 or 20 years ago, except for an occasional one brought on by stress.  I find the older I grow, the less I can handle stress, so try not to get into situations that cause it.

After taking some pain pills, the headache is easing, so I think now is a good time to try to take a nap and make up for the sleep lost last night.

Hope you all enjoy your afternoon!

Good afternoon to all.   We had a very good service this morning taken by our senior pastor and his subject was  Stewardship OF THE GOSPEL. ROMAN'S1: 16 17  N.I.V. and it always has an outline to fill in as he goes through the sermon.

After our service is over we have two couples that make a lunch and they call it loonie lunch and that is what you pay for it.  If you are not from Canada a loonie is what took the place of a one dollar bill when they got rid of it.  So it is very cheap for lunch especially for families.

Well for those of you who are watching the super bowl I hope that you enjoy it.  God bless you all and have a safe week. <3

Services at the church where I attend are always really special.  The pastor really has an annointing as a teacher.

Usually, on the first Sunday of the month, we have a potluck dinner at noon but the notice in the bulletin last week said it would not be today but next Sunday.  When the elder made the announcements his comment was "...because something else is happening next Sunday."  Then everyone ( well all the men) said "SuperBowl!"  Aaawwww ... couldn't have potluck today because they were anxious to get where they could watch the game ...    :ticked:   Oh, well, some of us still met for refreshments and fellowship after church.
Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass .... it's about learning to dance in the rain!

Ruth

Good afternoon:    It is a much nicer day than Friday in fact we went out for dinner on Saturday with another couple and today we again went out for a short while now it is time to prepare dinner so that we can watch the Superbowl.

Judy: Mel is in need of new winter shirts and finding sutable fabric is a problem.  Toronto just does not carry what I am looking for.   I once would have liked to have a sewing machine with all of the goodies but not now the basic is fine for me the only change I would like is one that makes better button holes.

A question:   A few days ago I made a Head Cheese Loaf  can anyone tell me why the name cheese as only meat is the only ingred. ?

That's a good question, Ruth!  But I do not have the answer.

I like this--short and to the point!

Cowboy's Ten Commandments
(posted on the wall at Cross Trails Church in Fairlie, Texas)

(1) Just one God.

(2) Honor yer Ma & Pa.

(3) No telling tales or gossipin'.

(4) Git yourself to Sunday meeting.

(5) Put nothin' before God.

(6) No foolin' around with another fellow's gal.

(7) No killin'.

(8) Watch yer mouth.

(9) Don't take what ain't yers.

(10) Don't be hankerin' for yer buddy's stuff

Now that's kinda plain an' simple, ain't it?

Yes - I don't know why that couldn't be posted in courthouses all OVER this country!!  ;)

It's been a very busy day. Our pastor spoke on God's challenge to us to try him and see what blessings he will bestow as we bring our tithe to the church.

I'm so glad my training beginning as a wee tot was to tithe fiathfully -- even on gifts in birthday cards, etc. When giving as God requires is so matter of factly practiced in front of a child and then the child chooses to follow the path of his/her elders, there's no difficulty at all - it's simply done as a part of one's life.

Then, a "progressive" dinner for me. I ate with my after-church-lunch-bunch - only a small cup of soup and hot tea.

Next, after a 20-mile drive to get there was a brief stop by a friend's 90th birthday celebration "tea" - a drop in and stay a few moments type affair.

Then, 3 lifelong friends and a dear friend of one of us met at a new steakhouse restaurant for our "christmas" gift sharing and a neat lunch. It was particularly nice, since at this restaurant, lunch-time on Sundays extends until 4 pm. So, the lunchtime prices, and portion sizes, were what we were happy to get.

Great service, wonderfully delicious food, and a unique "Western-style" environment in the steakhouse.

Then, the 20 mile drive back home.

So, I'm worn out.

Y'all have a wonderful evening. I'm guessing that the Superbowl will "watch me" instead of me staying awake to watch it!!

The beauty of the machine I am looking at (the dream machine) is that I can take a picture of the girls from off the computer, transfir the picture to the machine and it will embroider the picture onto material.  It does all the steps automatically and only beeps when there is a change of thread needed.   I cannot justify that kind of expense in this day and age, especially with so many needs around us and within our circle of believers.  Besides, I can use the floor model whenever I want and let it run as a demonstration.  That works for me!. ;D  I won't be around much this week as I am working every day, and the days will be long ones.  We had to rearrange piano lessons to accomodate my work schedule.  The boss is off to Toronto for a training course.

Our pastor is really amazing.  he explains everything so well.  We said he had big shoes to fill.  Well he has filled them, he is totally different to what Dennis was, and that is a good thing.

It is late, I am tired and have a big day ahead of me tomorrow.  After work we are stay ing in North Bay, to save gas and double tripping, so we won't be home till about 10:30.

Nite all and God Bless

Hi everyone.  It is a dreary looking day here in Georgia.  However, it is not too cold and may rain a little later.  We did have a one-tenth of an inch last evening.

When I got home from coffee my wife told me she had talked with our daughter who is back at the hospital with new chest pain.  They are awaiting the heart doctor to come in to decide what they are going to do.  I sure hope the new stent hasn't blocked up.  She is in the ER at the moment.  We know she is in God's hands but this really gets tough sometimes.  At this point we don't plan on going down to the hospital.  I haven't felt very good myself the last couple of days and am fatigued today and it would be a tough trip.

We had a good church service yesterday and afterwards 16 of us went out to eat together.  They put a couple of their tables together but 4 of us had to go to a separate booth, which was fine as you can talk more easily with a small group.  I did watch the game last night and it was exciting.

Jane, I wonder how the game would interfere with a pot luck since the game didn't start until aboug 6:15.  I guess that would have been 3:15 your time so maybe that is the problem.  Before our services actually started yesterday, a short video was shown that had been made by a church with the idea that the church service was the superbowl.  It was very enjoyable.

Fortunately I don't have any appointments today.  Hope everyone has a good day.

Samantha

Hi Larry, sorry to hear about your daughters health problems.  Will start praying right away.

Just wondering about all this rain we've been having. Has it put a dent in the drought in Georgia?

Have a great day everyone!

Today is my day to use the phone a lot.  I may go days without making a phone call.  But I got a letter Saturday saying that my retirement insurance would no longer cover services performed by Community Hospital.  My urologist and my ENT uses a Surgery Center of Community Hospital.  So I called both of them and they also perform surgeries at Riverview Hospital in Noblesville.  So all is okay.

I have been noticing a noise in the rear of my car when releasing my brakes.  I called Tony.  He said it could be the calipers not releasing, sticking or something like that.  I called where I get my car serviced and took my car in.  They checked everything out and couldn't find anything wrong.  They think if there was anything it was due to cold weather or damp weather.  I did notice that after I drove it awhile, I didn't hear the noise.  No charge for checking it out!

And I thought my cell phone wasn't free unlimited Verizon to Verizon.  It is so now I can call Tony and Charlene and Ivalou and KItty on the cell any time for free!!

Now I am waiting for the mail to come to see if I have a check.  Then I can go to the bank and deposit.

Larry,

I prayed for your daughter this morning.

This morning I read from John 4...

A woman, a Samaritan, came to draw water. Jesus said, "Would you give me a drink of water?" (His disciples had gone to the village to buy food for lunch.)

The Samaritan woman, taken aback, asked, "How come you, a Jew, are asking me, a Samaritan woman, for a drink?" (Jews in those days wouldn't be caught dead talking to Samaritans.)

Jesus answered, "If you knew the generosity of God and who I am, you would be asking me for a drink, and I would give you fresh, living water."

The woman said, "Sir, you don't even have a bucket to draw with, and this well is deep. So how are you going to get this 'living water'?  Are you a better man than our ancestor Jacob, who dug this well and drank from it, he and his sons and livestock, and passed it down to us?"

Jesus said, "Everyone who drinks this water will get thirsty again and again.  Anyone who drinks the water I give will never thirst—not ever. The water I give will be an artesian spring within, gushing fountains of endless life."

Hello everyone. Beautiful day here today, I even got out to walk the dogs after work.

Tomorrow I am going to meet Willa and her husband at the Sizzler for a Cajun Buffet then I have an appointment at Apria to pick up some new parts for my CPAP machine and try out some new masks. Then I will be stopping at Cash and Carry to buy a few things. I really need to get over to Winco to get some stuff too. When I find my getroundtuit.   ;D

Nothing exciting happening around here, I have cooled it with my friend for awhile.

Hi, friends,

It's a warm evening, and tomorrow's expected to break the record high for that day set back in 1980-something. However, as afternoon arrives. be on the lookout for bad storms! Yikes.

Larry, I, to have prayed for your daughter today, and for others' children and for their needs.

The phrase from an old song is running through my head, "Oh, how praying rests the weary, it can turn your night to day, And when things seem tough and dreary, don't forget to pray."

We truly need to do just that - pray for each other.
...his compassions fail not.  They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.

Janet

Larry, I'm praying for Stacey, too.  I will be looking for an update on her tomorrow here.

Marilyn, when you mentioned your friend, I wanted to tell you that our pastor's wife's sister, who was married to a much older man, then he died (all this before we knew her) ...anyway, about a month ago, this tall, good-looking black man came to church, and pastor introduced him as Amy's friend.  Well, today I was told that he gave her a 2 1/2 karat diamond ring.  :o  Hmmm......seems pretty fast to me, but it's her life, not mine.  And I wish her the best.  He lives in Houston.

I have something on my calendar every day this week.  Nothing big, just stuff.  Wish I had at least one day with nothing on it!

I went to the eye doctor this morning, and he was very pleased with my eyes.  But, another problem---he says I have residual astigmatism.  The problem is that it is horizontal in my right eye, but vertical in the left eye!  So it could cause some feelings of disorientation.  He says it usually sorts itself out if one is patient.  Also, because of the instability of my eyes because of the RK surgery years ago, he wants to check them again at the end of the day on Wednesday, to see if my vision is still fluctuating like it was.  I will be glad to get some new glasses.  The vision in my right eye is really good, left one not as good, and glasses should even that out, and I hope lessen the headaches.

I know, TMI----I will shut up now!
