Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Bonnie, I'm so sorry about your fall.  I'm praying for the healing touch of our Physician.

Janet, what a great upbeat posting.  Good news that you slept well.  I pray those herb, etc. continue to give you that same relief.

What a fabulous afternoon I had yesterday with my grandson and his lovely wife.  My grandson, Will, is a "budding photographer" and we sought out all the places around here that made good photo ops.  Then we wound up at a restaurant for burgers for supper, and back to my place for a few more pictures. They left with a promise of another visit before they head back to Arizona.

Well, friends, today is a 'get yourself busy day' for Etta Sue.  I have already moved the furniture in my bedroom, polished with glass cleaner and furniture polish...no feather duster today!  And swept all the floor AND threw out some things that wasn't needed anymore!

And I didn't put any cleaning supplies up...next is the bathroom.  If I leave it out, I will continue through the house until it is all done once again!

Droid says it is raining but I haven't seen any drops yet.  It is cloudy and looks like rain but none yet!  I know it is hot and humid and it isn't August or September yet!  We are sure having hot summer weather this year.  But we should since we had spring weather all winter!!

I read this morning that my niece in Alabama is leukemia free!!  She has been having chemo treatments since last November...was in University of Alabama-Birmingham hospital for 3 months...then home and back to UAB for a bone marrow transplant that her brother donated!!  Now she is cancer free!!  Praise God!

Just a "fly by" to Praise the Lord--Mom's surgery went well this morning.

Doctor (who looked like he is 12 years old) said my 97-1/2 yr. old mom took the skin cancer surgery very well and he removed it..She is cancer free..

She clapped her hands, nurses clapped their hands--my thoughts were for the Lord who guided the surgeon;s hands and kept me at peace that surpasses all human understanding.

HAd a good night last night, didn't stay up working on pictures. Started again today.  Does anyone know how to remove moisture marks and mold from slides?  A family member took these, and then threw them in the garbage. A family friend returned them. but there is a lot of damage on some special pictures.

Bonnie Praying.  Make sure there is nothing torn.  You have the best Dr there in your town for "fixing" that kind of injury.

I have read all the posts, Praying for the needs stated and unstated here.

Jeannie:  Nice picture of the three of you in the S & F site.

Bonnie:  So sorry about your fall and your pain as a result.  It is good to have the knee looked at right away.

Joyce:  What a blessing for you mother and for you as well to know she is cancer-free.   97 years young.  Her background stories must be so interesting.

We are getting ready to pick up granddaughter for two days & I will take her to a play tomorrow night.  Last night, we brought Chile Rellenos  to our neighbors for their dinner.  He has been on chemo for several months and will always be on some form of medication for cancer.  But --- his numbers are really good now & even his liver is better so he was aching for some spicy Texas type food and we drove to a restaurant and got takeout just for them.  They loved it especially after such a bland diet and restrictions.   That dish is beyond my cooking level.

Our mornings are a bit cooler now so that is such a good help to bring in cooler air.

HYMN HISTORY:

A young woman sat in a prayer meeting over eighty years ago. She was so pressed down by the weight of despair that she was hardly able to concentrate on what the speaker was saying.

Adelaide Pollard had a burden for the continent of Africa and was convinced that God wanted her to go there as a missionary. She had been on the very point of sailing away but then had to cancel everything, because the necessary funds just couldn't be raised. You can imagine her disappointment.

As she sat there the words of a prayer, often uttered by an old lady she knew, came into her thoughts: 'It's all right, Lord! It doesn't matter what you bring into our lives; just have your own way with us!'

In a moment her burden had lifted as she bowed in submission to the will of God.

Running home that night she meditated on the story of the potter, recorded by Jeremiah:

'Then I went down to the potter's house, and, behold, he wrought a work on the wheels.
And the vessel that he made of clay was marred in the hand oft he potter: so he made it again another vessel, as seemed good to the potter to make it.'
Jeremiah 18:34.

These words seemed to fit Miss Pollard's own life and experiences exactly.

Adelaide Pollard had been born in Iowa in 1862. She had been well educated and for several years taught in a girl's school. She also had a talent for writing, both prose and poetry, and produced many religious artides, as well as a few hymns.

But her real concern was for the lost. She longed to see them reached with the message of Christ Jesus. Eventually, she began a ministry in Bible teaching and, travelling widely throughout the United States, spoke to numerous groups and churches.

Miss Pollard was also passionately interested in foreign missions. For a while she taught at the Missionary Training Institute at Nyack, New York and hoped that she would, herself, be a missionary one day. However, now it seemed that God, who had been with her all her life, was suddenly deserting her.

'But,' she thought, 'perhaps my questioning of God's will shows a flaw in my life, so God has decided to break me, as the potter broke the defective vessel, and then to mould my life again - in His own pattern,'

As she bowed in humble consecration before God, the words of a poem took shape in her mind, and she wrote:

Have Thine own way, Lord!
Have Thine own way!
Thou art the potter;
I am the clay.
Mould me and make me
after Thy will,
While I am waiting,
yielded and still.

Adelaide Pollard had learned that even Christians can be self-centred, self-possessed and self-willed. Even when doing God's work, like her planned trip to Africa, she had to be careful lest it be done in the wisdom and strength of self.

In God's own time he allowed her to go to Africa. She also spent several years in England during the first World War, returning later to her travelling ministry in the USA.

She continued to speak publicly until the age of 72 when, on her way to yet another meeting, she was taken ill in a railway station in New York City and died soon after.

The world will always have cause to be thankful for the life and ministry of that frail little woman who wrote:

Have Thine own way, Lord,
Have Thine own way;
Hold o're my being
Absolute sway.
Fill with Thy Spirit
Till all shall see
Christ only, always,
Living in me.

BIBLE PASSAGE:

Jeremiah 18:6 O house of Israel, cannot I do with you as this potter? saith the LORD. Behold, as the clay is in the potter's hand, so are ye in mine hand, O house of Israel.

Have Thine Own Way. Lord!
(Click to hear music)

Author:  Adelaide A. Pollard, 1862-1934
Musician:  George C. Stebbins, 1846-1945

Have Thine own way, Lord! Have Thine own way!
Thou art the Potter, I am the clay.
Mold me and make me after Thy will,
While I am waiting, yielded and still.

Have Thine own way, Lord! Have Thine own way!
Search me and try me, Master, today!
Whiter than snow, Lord, wash me just now,
As in Thy presence humbly I bow.

Have Thine own way, Lord! Have Thine own way!
Wounded and weary, help me, I pray!
Power, all power, surely is Thine!
Touch me and heal me, Savior divine.

Have Thine own way, Lord! Have Thine own way!
Hold o'er my being absolute sway!
Fill with Thy Spirit 'till all shall see
Christ only, always, living in me.

My doctor told me that there is no need for a CAT scan since the xray showed there is nothing broken or torn, just some pulled ligaments.  I am to rest as much as I can for the next 3 weeks.

Thank you, Judy, for the recommendation. I have it on good authority, from you and another trusted friend, that Dr Stamp is wonderful and skilled at what he does.

Etta Sue, sounds like you will have fun celebrating your friends' birthdays.

Jeanne Lee, I am sooo happy for you re the wonderful visit with your grandson and his wife.  Praying for many more like that in the years to come.

Search me oh God, and know my heart. Teach me and know my anxious thoughts. Look for the hurtful ways in me, and lead me in the way...everlasting.

Janet

It is so nice to read several good reports today!  I haven't accomplished anything today, as couldn't sleep again last night, in spite of the new pills.  :(  What to do, what to do??  I can feel the lack of sleep starting to take its toll on my health and well-being.........

God is still on the throne, and He will take care of me!

Heavenly Sunlight
(Click to hear music)

God is light; in Him there is no darkness at all.
1 John 1:5

Words: Henry J. Zelley, in Gospel Praise, by William Kirkpatrick and Henry Gilmour (Philadelphia, Pennsylvania: Hall-Mack Co., 1899).

Music: George H. Cook

Walking in sunlight all of my journey;
Over the mountains, through the deep vale;
Jesus has said, "I'll never forsake thee,"
Promise divine that never can fail.

Refrain

Heavenly sunlight, heavenly sunlight,
Flooding my soul with glory divine:
Hallelujah, I am rejoicing,
Singing His praises, Jesus is mine.

Shadows around me, shadows above me,
Never conceal my Savior and Guide;
He is the Light, in Him is no darkness;
Ever I'm walking close to His side.

Refrain

In the bright sunlight, ever rejoicing,
Pressing my way to mansions above;
Singing His praises gladly I'm walking,
Walking in sunlight, sunlight of love.

Refrain

Janet, maybe that first night was just your body catching up on it's own and you need to take the pills for a while before you adjust to them.

When I read about Janet not sleeping, I think that we should give each other gifts.  My gift to Janet is sleep...I can sleep around the clock.  Her gift to me...not sleeping quite so much so I could get more done!

I did get a chemo wrap done last evening and the start of another one.  Need to take a picture of it before taking it to the hospital Tuesday!

And my bedroom is clean and my bathroom is almost done!  I thought the bathroom would be quick and easy...it is a small room!  But when you do the ceilings, walls, window, curtains, cabinets, mirror, tub, surround, toilet and floor...it takes quite awhile.  Should be done in another hour or two!  Taking a breather right now!!  Then I will have to dirty it up by taking a shower!!

Bright and sunny again today but the radio just said a storm should be in Indy within the hour!  That means if we are in the path, it should be here by two hours!  Just wispy clouds in the sky right now and a very slight breeze.

Best get onto cleaning!!

I am back from my trip to California to visit family that I had not seen in 20 years. It was a wonderful trip, however it was a long train ride both ways with little or no sleep. I didn't see my daughter as she doesn't want me for a mother and I guess nit even a friend. It is her loss and all I can say is what goes around comes around. her daughter doesn't want anything to do with her either. All I can do now is to pray for her

Janet:  You and my husband could just sit up all night and play cribbage if you can't sleep.  He is exhausted as well.

Marilyn:  Much to be grateful for on the reunion with most of the family.  The trip was a success.

Larry:  Missing your posts -

Granddaughter and I walked through IKEA and I bought enough paper napkins for a year at least - we had breakfast and even coffee later.  Now baking biscotti - I have been teaching her how to make things from scratch although our daughter has been teaching her some good cooking skills too.  Rain just came so that is so refreshing.

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  I got home from the hospital around 7 pm last evening.  The doctor released me about 3 pm and it took the nurse two hours to complete the paperwork to finally let me go which put me in the middle of rush hour traffic coming home. A lady from our church has brought over a delicious dinner for us and my DIL got things heated up and we had dinner and then I went to bed.  I managed to watch the Olympics until about 9 pm and we recorded the rest of it.  I slept so hard that I didn't even have to get up during the night, something that hasn't happened in a very long time.  I am still exhausted this morning and since my shower it is a struggle to hold my head upright.  I came to my easy chair to write so I can rest my head on the cushion.  I am sure I will be laying down before long.  I don't know that anything much was learned from the nuclear chemical stress test or the echo cardiograph that the doctor ordered on the spot other than the pacing of the other side of my heart seems to have increased the ejection fraction by about 10 or more points.  I was away from my room for over four hours.  However, based on the tests the doctor decided that another heart cath wouldn't be performed as there isn't much else that they can do.  He did increase the Isosobide by half but the others are already at maximum and I take all of the drugs to address heart disease.  They want me to do a liquid restriction of no more than 2 liters of fluid a day as as to not stress the heart anymore or accumulate fluid because of the heart disease.  In essence the results were another confirmation of what several cardiologists have told me in that there really isn't much  else they can do to help me.

I wasn't able to post from the hospital as there internet service was terrible and it is very difficult to post on my phone.  I didn't take the iPad with me as sure didn't want to lose it.  I have read all of the postings over the last couple of days but just not up to making responses  and sure you all understand.  Hope to be feeling better by tomorrow.  I did go to coffee this morning but that is it for today.  Just now had a delightful call from a wonderful friend from here on CP to check on me.  What a thoughtful and kind gesture and I really appreciated it.

Janet

Carol, I have no idea how to play Cribbage!  ;)  Last night I did get about 7 hours of good sleep, am so thankful for that!

Hot and dry Saturday here!

Larry!  I have gone back and read all the posts for this week and didn't find anything about your having to go to the hospital!  Anyway, I am glad you are back home again, and am praying your strength holds out.  I know you have such a great attitude about your condition, but we all love you and want to keep you with us for as long as possible.  Hugs to you, dear friend.  And to Pat, as well.

I have been wondering how we can get some of our former 'members' to come back and post in here?  I think about them and wonder where they are and how they are doing.  Even Pat seldom posts anything......... :(  I miss them all.

Janet Pat is unable to really post much, she is seldom on Facebppk either.  It is one finger posting, and even that is difficult.  Pray for pat as she is still in a lot of pain.  About the other members, if there is someone you have particularly on your heart, you could send them a private message.  I know Mario has been on my heart a lot lately.

Larry I am sorry the doctors couldn't give you any hope for a better solution.  The Master Doctor knows the the beginning from the end.  We want to keep you with us forever, however I am sure there are days you long to go Home.  I do understand that. Hang in there my friend, God has a purpose still for you here.

He Hideth My Soul
(Click to hear music)

I will put you in a cleft in the rock
and cover you with my hand until I have passed by.
Exodus 33:22

Words: Fanny Crosby
Music: William J. Kirkpatrick

This hymn is unique in that it was a poem written to fit the tune. Kirkpatrick brought the music to Fanny Crosby, asking her to write a poem to fit his music.

She, the blind musician who wrote hundreds of hymns, did!

A wonderful Savior is Jesus my Lord,
A wonderful Savior to me;
He hideth my soul in the cleft of the rock,
Where rivers of pleasure I see.

Refrain
He hideth my soul in the cleft of the rock
That shadows a dry, thirsty land;
He hideth my life with the depths of His love,
And covers me there with His hand,
And covers me there with His hand.

A wonderful Savior is Jesus my Lord,
He taketh my burden away;
He holdeth me up, and I shall not be moved,
He giveth me strength as my day.

Refrain

With numberless blessings each moment He crowns,
And filled with His fullness divine,
I sing in my rapture, oh, glory to God
For such a Redeemer as mine!

Refrain

When clothed in His brightness, transported I rise
To meet Him in clouds of the sky,
His perfect salvation, His wonderful love
I?ll shout with the millions on high.

Refrain

Larry:  I first read your note in S & F and was so happy to learn that you were getting another mileage check-up and passed the tests again.   ^-^

Granddaughter is leaving us today as her dad is driving here to pick her up.  Wish we could have her for a few weeks at least.  Watched a bit of the bike race in the Olympics and one swim meet.  The endurance, the athletic abilities - such a gift from God.  I wonder how many pause and think about that fact.  We are blessed if we have any normal life.

Pat

hi everyone...

jeanne is right... one finger typing.

Larry I'm so sorry about what you have been going through.  God bless you and Pat.  my stitches are out and i had a wonderful shower today.

more later...  hi janet.

I, too, had forgotten that Larry was going to the hospital.  I remembered when I saw his post that Pat and he were going in back to back.

Cribbage!!  I haven't thought of that game for years!  My BIL brought that game to us when he was in the Navy while I was in grade school and high school.  All I remember is this little board with pegs in it and jumping the pegs and counting 'two for fifteen' etc.  That was a neat game...never could beat Charles though!

Glad that Marilyn got to see family.  Now my prayers is that they keep in touch!

And Pat...praying that your pain disappears and that your shoulder is like new again.  No more hunting and pecking with one finger on here!!

Well, today my hallway is all clean.  It didn't take long since it is a short hallway but needed cleaned just like the rest of the house!

I recorded the Olympics Opening Ceremony.  I may watch it this afternoon.

Bright and sunny here today.  The mailman just went so need to get the mail.  Then a shower.  I may or may not go to Subway for a late lunch!

pat   How much longer before your hand mends???   Glad to see your one-finger pecking note.

We are having wind and dark skies but no rain at all.  It may have rained somewhere.

Carol she had shoulder surgery 3 weeks ago or so.  It will be a bit before she is fully mobile again.

Pat

Thanks for asking Carol.   Surgery was July 12 so two weeks and 2 days ago.  It will come eventually but kind of annoying right now as the pain is huge in my shoulder.

"Click for Waterloo Wellington, Ontario Forecast"

Janet

It seems as we all grow older, we need to always be thankful for the mobility we have, also for the wonderful bodies God gave us and their astounding ability to heal!  Prayers continue for Larry, Pat and Pat---and whoever else is in need of a healing touch from our gracious and loving Father.

I am a happy gal this morning--I SLEPT last night!!  The whole night!!  I never dreamed I would dread going to bed because of a problem sleeping, lying awake and longing for morning.....that's the way it's been lately, so a good night's sleep is something to celebrate and thank God for, for sure!   :) ;) 8) :thumbsup:

Pat, I am wanting to call you, but don't know when a good time would be...want to let me know?  Or just call me?

And, someone else asked, but is this the same shoulder on which you had surgery a few years ago, or the other one?  I hope the pain goes away quickly and God grants you a supernaturally quick healing.

Larry---hugs and prayers to you, as well.  You are a treasure!

Beth wants to go to church this morning, so we will be going a little early to allow for time to pick her up.  She is still suffering those awful headaches, we don't know why, but God knows.

Marilyn, glad to hear you had a good trip and good visit.  I think lots of families have one or more members who choose to separate themselves from the family.  As you said, it's their loss, but still sad.  We cannot hold ourselves responsible for their choices, though; that's between them and God.

Etta Sue, I need to do a thorough cleaning like you have been doing.  I am hoping I will get my usual energy back, now that I am sleeping again!

May God bless you all today!
