JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Morning Devotional...

Distinguishing Between Jacob And Esau

Verse

Then Isaac said to Jacob, "Come near so I can touch you, my son, to know whether you really are my son Esau or not." Genesis 27:21

There are areas of Christian thought, and because of thought then also of life, where likenesses and differences are so difficult to distinguish that we are often hard put to it to escape complete deception. Throughout the whole world error and truth travel the same highways, work in the same fields and factories, attend the same churches, fly in the same planes and shop in the same stores. So skilled is error at imitating truth that the two are constantly being mistaken for each other. It takes a sharp eye these days to know which brother is Cain and which Abel. We must never take for granted anything that touches our soul's welfare. Isaac felt Jacob's arms and thought they were the arms of Esau. Even the disciples failed to spot the traitor among them; the only one of them who knew who he was was Judas himself. That soft-spoken companion with whom we walk so comfortably and in whose company we take such delight may be an angel of Satan, whereas that rough, plain-spoken man whom we shun may be God's very prophet sent to warn us against danger and eternal loss.

Thought

Often we encounter error disguised as truth. Crucial is our relationship to the Holy Spirit who seeks to guide into all truth. It is the Spirit who can unmask the deceiver.

Prayer

O God, I am easily deceived. Thank You for the Holy Spirit to lead and guide through Satan's deceits and disguises.

Janet

Good morning, and Happy Sunday!  Looks as if I am first today, after almost a week of absence.

I had a wonderful time painting with friends in Fowler last week.  Changes are coming, none of which I look forward to seeing, but that's life.  The hostess of the B & B where my friend and I have stayed for years during the class is almost 80 years old, so is retiring; meaning we have to find somewhere else to stay.  That's not easy in that tiny town!  And the lady who runs the Art center is 81 and not in good health; and our teacher is also having some health issues, even though he's only 60.  So my prayer list isn't in danger of becoming shorter any time soon!

Darrel was really happy to see me---he didn't say so, but he came into the garage before I'd even gotten out of the car, so I know!  ;)  Yesterday was busy with returning phone calls, lining up book signings, answering emails regarding the book, and doing laundry.  Never hard to find something to do!  :)

I am going to get another  :coffee: and then watch Joel Osteen and the other programs I love on Sunday morning!  We will attend the early service, picking up Beth around 8:30.

Blessings!

There was/is some excitement around Lapel...the kind I don't like.  It seems a man went into his ex's home at 2:30am Saturday.  He hurt her and killed her friend and took off running.  All of his cars are accounted for so he is on foot.  They had a search for him all day yesterday but ceased the search last evening.  They are to start again today.  This was about 5-6 miles away so I wasn't in too much danger but was watchful as I went to the mailbox twice and made sure my doors were locked at all times.  He was armed and dangerous but also suicidal.  Hope they find him...dead or alive.

Yesterday was house cleaning day, some laundry, reading and relaxing.  I finished a Chemo Wrap yesterday that I am taking to one of my best friends in Greenfield.  She is on her third go-around of chemo for lung cancer.  She sounded good when she talked on the phone yesterday.  I am hoping to see her tomorrow afternoon.  The pattern is called 'Kittens'.

I don't put 'on' my glasses in the morning but I have tried to take them 'off' a few times at night.  Old habits are hard to die!

I couldn't sleep last night and no chance of a nap today.  I am ready for church and then Ivalou's grandson, Parker's High School Graduation Open House is this afternoon.  Ivalou is coming home today.  I sure have missed her.

Hi everyone.  I am being very lazy this morning as am still in bed and it will soon be 9 am.  However have done a lot of my daily reading and my email.  Since church doesn't begin until 11:15 I don't need to hurry.  Pat had a miserable day of leg and knee pain yesterday in the knee and leg not being operated on.  A little bit ago she said it was feeling better today.  I hope she will feel up to going to church with me this morning.  It is suppose to rain today and a good chance for more in the next few days.  Nothing else on the schedule for today after church and lunch.

Don, thanks for the devotional thought for this week.

Etta Sue, crime so close to home in a smaller community is very scary.  Hope they catch the man.  Good news in not needing glasses.

Janet, it sounds like you had a great time at your painting class but sorry to hear the arrangements have to change for the future.  I am sure Darrel was very happy to have you home.

Gordon, it seems to be day by day with our daughter but she felt up to going to her church for family night and catching up on some bookkeeping that she hadn't been able to do in the middle of the week as she had been sick.  Glad to read you are having better days.

Since I am working on the iPad it isn't easy to refer to the last postings from yesterday so will stop here for today but I appreciated all of the postings and comments.

Amazing Love
(Click to hear music)

My Lord what love is this?
That paid so dearly
That I, the guilty one, may go free.

Chorus:
Amazing love, oh what sacrifice
The Son of God, given for me
My debt He paid, and my death He died
That I, might live.
That I, might live.

And so, they watched Him die
Despised and rejected
But oh, the blood He shed, flowed for me.

Chorus:
Amazing love, oh what sacrifice
The Son of God, given for me
My debt He paid, and my death He died
That I, might live.
That I, might live.

And now, this love of Christ
Will flow, like rivers
Come wash, your guilt away, And live again.

Chorus:
Amazing love, oh what sacrifice
The Son of God, given for me
My debt He paid, and my death He died
That I, might live.
That I, might live.

:)  Good afternoon to all on C.P.  We were not able to go to church today and we miss the fellowship so much.

It was my oldest sons birthday on the 8th so they have been here all weekend and the other kids are here today but my other son is not here.

Today I don't think I could have handled church as so many know that I have had Vertigo and they would be asking questions. :)

Larry:  Thanks for the comments on what going with the family.  I do pray and hope that your daughter and Pat feel better and stronger. :coffee:

Janet:  Sorry to here that you are having the problems for the future re your painting.  Ido hope that you and your husband are looking after yourselves and not overding things.  God bless for now  Gordon and Noreen

Etta Sue:  I do hope that they find this horrible person who did this crime very soon as it put's a scare into the whole area just make sure that you and your sister and neighbours  keep your doors locked..  God bless.   Gordon .

By for now and have a wonderful and Blessed week. :) :cp: :pine:

Our youth pastor spoke today, as the lead pastor hadn't yet gotten home from his successful bear hunt.  Phil did a great job!

My friend who is on dialysis and her husband came over this evening so I could cut Roy's hair, and I made supper for all of us.  We had a nice visit.  It's fun to do things for others.  And he REALLY needed the haircut!  ;)

I'm tired and think I shall retire early tonight.  My friend at whose B & B we have stayed lent me a couple of books, I got into one called A Penny Parcel and couldn't put it down!  It was a thick book, but I read the whole thing in two afternoons (part time).  Sometimes I just get so hungry for a good read!

See you tomorrow!

Hi, friends,

Judy, I'd love to be able to see your photo, but it never appears in the postings.

Etta Sue, that's a mighty good new photo of you without your glasses. :)

Janet, I think of you so often with your busy schedule.

Oh, dear, I know I'm forgetting to respond to everyone, but do know I love each of you and pray for you.

Pat, I like that BIG, nice birthday greeting from your hubby! Here's a late wish for you from me - may your life be joyful, filled with hope, health, love and faith during this new year with our Lord.

Y'all have a good rest this evening. :)

Ruth Ann

Hi everyone.  We finally had some significant rain last evening and during the night and today may see some more.  However, don't think we had more than an inch or so, nothing like they had further south.  Pat did not attend church with me yesterday but seemed to be somewhat better.  I stopped and brought something home for lunch and then we had a quiet rest of Sunday.  Today is the usual men's luncheon and I have a meeting to attend this evening.  That will be plenty for today.

Happy Birthday Pat.  Paul that is a very nice graphic you made for your wife.

Janet, you must be a fast reader.  Nice of you to give your friend a haircut and to prepare a meal for them.  I am sure they enjoyed the visit.

And Can it Be That I Should Gain[/u]
(Click to hear music]

Suddenly there was a great earthquake,
so that the foundations of the prison were shaken;
and immediately all the doors were opened
and everyone's chains were loosed.
Acts 19:26

Words: Charles Wesley, Psalms and Hymns, 1738.
Music: "Sagina," Thomas Campbell, 1835

And can it be that I should gain
An interest in the Savior's blood!
Died He for me who caused His pain!
For me who Him to death pursued?
Amazing love! How can it be,
That Thou, my God, shouldst die for me?
Amazing love! How can it be,
That Thou, my God, shouldst die for me?

'Tis mystery all: th' Immortal dies!
Who can explore His strange design?
In vain the firstborn seraph tries
To sound the depths of love divine.
'Tis mercy all! Let earth adore;
Let angel minds inquire no more.
'Tis mercy all! Let earth adore;
Let angel minds inquire no more.

He left His Father's throne above
(so free, so infinite His grace!),
Emptied Himself of all but love,
And bled for Adam's helpless race.
'Tis mercy all, immense and free,
For O my God, it found out me!
'Tis mercy all, immense and free,
For O my God, it found out me!

Long my imprisoned spirit lay,
Fast bound in sin and nature's night;
Thine eye diffused a quickening ray;
I woke, the dungeon flamed with light;
My chains fell off, my heart was free,
I rose, went forth, and followed Thee.
My chains fell off, my heart was free,
I rose, went forth, and followed Thee.

No condemnation now I dread;
Jesus, and all in Him, is mine;
Alive in Him, my living Head,
And clothed in righteousness divine,
Bold I approach th' eternal throne,
And claim the crown, through Christ my own.
Bold I approach th' eternal throne,
And claim the crown, through Christ my own.

:)   Good morning to all.  It is a very warm day here again and it is already 90 f  and that is hot.

Judy B. :  I just love all these great old hymns that you continually put on C.P. it brings back so many good memories of our times when we were a lot younger.  Please keep on finding them.

First of all,
PAT!!!
I tried to send you a Happy Birthday message on FB but found out you have deactivated your account... :(

Church was great yesterday.  Sunday school was great.  Evelyn, Betty and I went out to eat at a fast place.  I was home by 1pm.

Ivalou called and said she was home and wanted to know if I wanted to ride with Jo and her to Parker's Open House.  Sure...I won't have to drive!  So we left around 4:15pm.  It was just family with only a few of his classmates.  Parker is a fantastic artist.  I think he will go far with his art.  One of his paintings was a staircase with some colors added.  Another was a part of his music classroom...a folding chair, a horn case and a music stand.  Another was a still life of a Hydrangea in a vase.  And a self-portrait of his face painted on a sheet of plywood...4 feet by 8 feet!  He is going to attend IUPUI in Indianapolis on an art scholarship studying art!  It was great spending time with family and meeting some new friends as well.  I didn't get home until 10pm.  If I had drove, I would have been home a lot sooner but it was great fun.

Today I am taking my Kittens Chemo Wrap to a friend I have known since early '70's.  She is going through her third round of chemo for lung cancer.  She sounded strong when I called her Saturday but said she was having more bad days than good days.  So I told her I would leave here around 1pm and if she was having a bad day, I would leave her a gift and come back home.  Of course, she wanted to know what the gift was...and of course, I told her.

Then this evening Kitty and I are going to Photo Guild.  If I don't stay long in Greenfield, I will call Kitty and maybe spend the afternoon with her instead of coming home and then going to Kitty's.

It is suppose to be rainy today.  It is overcast but no rain.  I have decided to not mow until it rains...the grass isn't growing because of no rain.  I am sure if I were to walk barefoot in my grass, it would hurt my feet.  Crispy grass!!  I noticed the corn fields yesterday not having blades for leaves, they have spikes like pineapple.  The blades/leaves are curled.  A sure sign of no moisture in the ground.  There is no artificial irrigation around here.  And it seems the corn and soy beans have stopped growing...not good for the farmers at all!

They haven't found that man yet but they seem sure that he is dead somewhere in a woods.  He had been despondent the last couple of weeks and telling others that his life wasn't worth living.  Seems he was a prominent citizen but had quit his job, lost his girl-friend, and moved out of his apartment and living in his car...all in the last couple of weeks.

Well, I am hoping for rain.

I'm leaving shortly for the motor vehicle office to get my driver's license renewed.  At first glance I nearly choked at the fee - $64.  But then I thought, oh well it's for 4 years.  Then I looked closer and it's for 8 years!  So not really all that bad.  And once I get it renewed, complete with eye test and new picture, I can drive until I'm 88 years old with no questions asked!   ;D
Click for Corinth, New York Forecast" border="0" height="41" width="127

Janet

Wow!  EIGHT years!  I didn't know any state issued renewal licenses for that long--but good for you, Jeanne!

I have been on 'hold' on the phone all afternoon trying to iron out details on a last-minute notice trip.  It's a good savings, but to get it to work is sure taking a long time!  When we finally decided it was a "go"--now the air part is the hang-up.  We don't want to pay what they want for airfare from Garden City to Denver, nor to Dallas.  So I'm still on hold.   :P  Getting tired of it, too--about ready to say just forget it!

Etta Sue, I sure didn't recognize you in that new photo sans glasses!  Looking good!  And I would love to see Parker's art work!  Good for him!

I have a book signing in Garden on Saturday, and that trip departure is on Sunday, if we get the details worked out.  Whew!  We will be packing asap, if it works!

This is NOT the way I had planned to spend my afternoon!  :-\
My book Rising Above available at JanetDamon.com

Al Moak

Jeanne, I am sure glad for you on your renewal of your license.    I have to go for mine on the afternoon of the  18th.  I had one test, but they want me to  do it again while avoiding a particular error they said I made.

Janet

Good early morning to you!  I'm up and at 'em already.  But I did sleep well last night.  Just wondering if we made the right decision on that trip, but no backing out now!  We leave on Sunday from Denver, will have to drive there, as they wanted $800 for airfare from Garden City to Denver---and that's only 300 miles!  But much longer going by way of Dallas, which is how they wanted to route us.  Crazy!

And more sad news for Beth.  She already has two more neurofibromas in her mouth, just in about 10 days' time!   I am so distressed........  Prayers appreciated.

I'm hoping the wind doesn't blow today.  Things seem so much better when the wind isn't blowing.  That's my perspective, anyway

Going to watch Joseph Prince now!.

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  We had a cloudy and rainy day yesterday but still did not get a lot of rain.  The chances for today are less.  I have a light schedule for today with just a meeting to attend this morning and then the rest of the day should be clear.  Pat was feeling better (not good) yesterday and felt like doing a couple of things in the kitchen.

Gord, we have a rather large library of old hymns here on CP that was mostly created several years ago.  Occasionally a new one will be added to our library.

Etta Sue, I saw Pat's postings on Facebook yesterday, including the big birthday cake.  I also like your new photo without the glasses as it makes you look younger and no sure I would have recognized you without your glasses.  Did your friend like your gift for her?

Jeanne, Georgia has also gone with a longer time period for the driver's license although can still get the 5 year license.  At least you won't have to hassle with it for a long time.

Janet, it does seem that things get difficult anymore in scheduling things like trips.  You haven't had a lot of advance planning time.  :)  Glad to see you had a good night's sleep.  So sorry about the new neurofibromas that Beth is experiencing in her mouth.  It sounds like you need to get away for a few days and lessen the stress.  She has good care.

Jeanne Lee

The driver's license renewal was a "piece of cake".  But it makes me wonder how safe New York drivers are.

For the eye test - a chart about 30 feet away, read the top line.  I could have easily read the 4th line.  For the hearing, because I had checked that I need hearing aids when driving - "Do you have a hearing problem?"  "Yes, I have hearing aids in both ears."  "Oh, well, we're conversing now so that's OK."  And that was it!!!

I haven't had a road test since I got my first license in New Jersey 55 years ago, or a written test since I moved back to New York 43 years ago.  And now I'm good to go for another 8 years, whether or not I'm safe behind the wheel.

Are You Washed in the Blood?
(Click to hear music)

Elisha A. Hoffman, 1839-1929

And I said unto him, Sir, thou knowest.
And he said to me, These are they
which came out of great tribulation,
and have washed their robes, and made them
white in the blood of the Lamb.
Revelation 7:14

Have you been to Jesus for the cleansing power?
Are you washed in the blood of the Lamb?
Are you fully trusting in His grace this hour?
Are you washed in the blood of the Lamb?

Chorus:
Are you washed in the blood,
In the soul cleansing blood of the Lamb?
Are your garments spotless? Are they white as snow?
Are you washed in the blood of the Lamb?

Are you walking daily by the Saviors side?
Are you washed in the blood of the Lamb?
Do you rest each moment in the Crucified?
Are you washed in the blood of the Lamb?

Chorus

When the Bridegroom cometh will your robes be white?
Are you washed in the blood of the Lamb?
Will your soul be ready for the mansions bright,
And be washed in the blood of the Lamb?

Chorus

Lay aside the garments that are stained with sin,
And be washed in the blood of the Lamb;
Theres a fountain flowing for the soul unclean,
O be washed in the blood of the Lamb!

Chorus

This is one of my favourites.  It feels like rain today.  Played with the dogs for a while, don't have the power in my arm like John and cannot throw as far. The dogs don't seem to mind though.  Little Rambo is a funny boy.  If he looses the ball or cannot see where it landed, he goes into search mode.  Nose to the ground, back and forth gradually extending the search till he finds the ball.  He is a natural.

Got to run, Praying for Beth and the rest of the needs here.

I have been getting my car license plates for about 5 years now online.  Last year I got an email saying I could renew my drivers license online if they were due in 2012.  So last summer I renewed them and when I got them, my expiration is 2018.  Every other time you have to go to the BMV but about after you reach 70 you can't renew online, you have to go to the BMV.   I don't know if this is good or bad.  Just feel that if Ivalou had to have a driving test, she wouldn't pass.  I wonder how many others are driving and shouldn't be...regardless of their age.

Yes, Rose enjoyed her Chemo Wrap.  It is heavy so it is mostly for really cold people or winter time.  Someone said if you didn't like kittens, they could be Scotty Dogs.

I went to the pool this morning, then for a late breakfast.  I gassed up at Lapel and got a cappuccino.

Now I am doing a load of laundry and hoping to start another Chemo Wrap this afternoon and catch up on TV recordings.

Still no rain.  I rained on my on my way to Greenfield yesterday...just sprinkles and on the way home.  Not a drop here!!  I noticed a lot of yards are brown as I went to Noblesville and back this morning.

Hi, friends,

I'm resting here after a long, long day of "loving" my apartment. :)

Had a conversation with one of my sons, and he is coming to visit before long. Another great bit of news!

Very little remains to do in my little home. I will completely finish before turning out the lights tonight, then it will be time to rest. Hmmmm - can we "sleep fast"??? ;)

I'm seeing a wonderful moose photo in the random image screen. Thank you all for posting your photos. They give me hope. :)

Actually, someone used my new iPad to take photos as a birthday lunch Sunday, so now I need to download them to the computer and email to them. That will be a new experience, too.

May our Lord grant each of us the faith, grace, wisdom, perseverance, and hope to bear our burdens and to share with our friends the heavy yoke they may be carrying.

Goodnight all,
Ruth Ann

HAPPY BIRTHDAY RUTH V

:hb2:       :hb2:        :hb2:

Larry Hanna

Hi eveyone.  I woke up ready to get up and start the day.  It looks like it will be a nice day, perhaps somewhat cloudy, but only a low chance of rain.  Our main activity today will be for Pat to go to her Kaiser doctor for a physical exam in preparation for her knee surgery next month.  We won't have time to attend our normal Wednesday morning Bible study today.  We also plan on a quick stop at Aldi's on the way home.  That will likely be it for today.

Jeanne, I wonder the same thing about Georgia.  We have a friend who is 80 and is in early stage dementia and she just renewed her driver's license without an eye exam or any type of test.  Glad you got your license renewed as you certainly need a method of transportation.

Judy, your dogs sounds like a lot of fun.  When they bring the ball back to you do they want to play tug with you?  I remember our dog years ago wanting to play like that.

Etta Sue, I fear there are a lot of folks, young and old, who really shouldn't be driving for one reason or another and I just hope I am not one of them although sometimes do some less than brilliant things as I drive.

Ruth Ann, I wonder if you are like me in feeling that the highlight of some days is when I can lay down for a nap or retire for the night.  I am not trying to wish my life away but just seem to be tired a lot of the time.  Ruth Ann, how are you liking your iPad?  I had forgotten that you had one.

Happy Birthday Ruth V.

Janet

I wish I knew how to use my new cell phone!  It frustrates the tar out of me!  I feel like throwing it against a brick wall--absolutely hate that phone.  I tried to take it back after a week, they wouldn't take it, and the gal in the store couldn't operate it any better than me.  Grrrr.  So.....I would love to have an IPad but fear I wouldn't be able to use it either.  Would be so nice to take something that small with me instead of this heavy laptop.  I don't understand why I seem to have a mental block when it comes to techie stuff. :-[ :(

Today I am determined to stay positive about Beth, to seek answers from her dentist, her doctor, whoever I can get to see.  SEVEN new tumors in her mouth in about a month's time is very upsetting, very scary, and brings up so many questions.  She has never had any in her mouth before.  It would be so easy to get into fear and discouragement, but I MUST stay positive and continue to trust God.  He loves Beth with an everlasting love, He will never fail or disappoint her.

We need to get our cherries picked before the birds eat them all.  Back later.

Oh, yes, Larry, I'm really enjoying my iPad! I'll need to get my provider to help me get it (and the iPhone) set up to receive emails. Other than that, it's so wonderful. Janet, I may be wrong, but I believe the Apple people can help you to get yours set up if you purchase one. I bought my phone from AT&T, and they have been extremely helpful. Believe me, it's certainly light!

And, yes, there are days that "seeing" the world through closed eyelids seems perfect. :) Seems I require a lot of rest these days.

But with some events yesterday, I've not been able to sleep at all, so worked at "loving" my apartment off and on throughout the night. There's so much more stamina if I work about 30 minutes then take a 15-20 minute rest.

Etta Sue, did you take a photo of the kitty themed wrap for your friend? I'd love to see it.

Well, must go, I took some medication awhile ago, and must eat within 15 minutes, so am most likely a bit overtime on eating. :)

Y'all have a wonderful day with our precious Lord.

As the Deer Panteth for the Water
(Click to hear music)

Written by Martin Nystrom

Psalm 42:1
"As the hart panteth after the water brooks,
so panteth my soul after thee, O God."

As the deer panteth for the water,
So my soul longs after you.
You alone are my hearts desire,
And I long to worship You.

Chorus
You alone are my strength, my shield;
To You alone may my spirit yield.
You alone are my hearts desire,
and I long to worship You.

I want you more than gold or silver,
Only You can satisfy.
You alone are the real joy giver
And the apple of my eye.

Chorus
You alone are my strength, my shield;
To You alone may my spirit yield.
You alone are my hearts desire,
and I long to worship You.

You're my friend and You're my brother,
Even though you are a King.
I love You more than any other
So much more than anything.

Chorus
You alone are my strength, my shield;
To You alone may my spirit yield.
You alone are my hearts desire,
and I long to worship You.
