Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Hi everyone.  It will not be quite as hot here today as it has been the last few days as suppose to get to 97 around 3 pm.  Of course, that is warm enough.  I slept well until about 3:30 this morning and couldn't go back to sleep.  No particular reason other than my mind just wouldn't turn off.  So I picked up my smart phone and read my email and the message boards.  We have to make an early trip to Walmart as Pat has a couple of prescriptions to pick up, we need some grocery and a few other items.  We are looking forward to our four visitors sometime this morning.  These are all good friends of both of us so it will be a most enjoyable day.  I checked this morning and my new Chromebook will be here sometimes this afternoon or early evening.  I am looking forward to using it.

Carol, what great news you shared with us about your grandson and his being able to save a life when the other lifeguards aren't paying attention.  I hope his actions were duly noted by his boss.

Jeanne and Ruth Ann, good morning.  Hope today is pleasant for you both as well as for anyone else stopping by.

Wow!  I haven't been here in a few days, and so much has happened in all your lives, and those of your loved ones!

Congratulations to Becky!  Jane, I'm so happy for you, and it does prove we should never give up on a person, for God never does!  Hugs to you!

Ruth Ann, you are such a sweet servant, helping so many around you in the midst of dealing with your own unique problems and situations.  Love you!

Carol, kudos to your quick-thinking and acting Eagle Scout grandson!  He is to be commended highly, and some parents are very blessed that he was there that day at the pool!

Larry, it isn't good to be lonely!  I wish I were at least techy enough to feel confident in getting an iPhone, or an iPad, or both.  I feel like a dinosaur out of its time!  I have no idea how to even program the GPS in the new pickup!  I did pray-then look at a map in the phone book of Garden City, write down the streets I needed to find, pray in the Spirit the whole way there, and what a smooth trip I had!  This was yesterday, and I was driving Beth's handicapped equipped van, as it was my birthday and Curtis and Toni and the 3 little g-granddaughters were coming to take me out to supper.  I had asked if we could take Darrel too, yes!  So needed a vehicle easily accessible for the wheelchair.  He was as excited as a little boy getting out for recess!  So good to see the happy look on his face and watch him eat so much better than he has been.  It was a lovely evening.

I last posted before the doctor's app't the rehab set up for Darrel.  Sweet granddaughter Abby came (getting up at 6:00 AM!) to drive me in the big pickup, and she was patient and loving about the whole thing.  The appointment, I felt, was a total disaster!  We did NOT choose that doctor, they just handed us an app't slip and told us to go!  He came in after looking at the new X-rays, and said, "Well, it looks like you have some broken bones in your leg."  Well, Duh!  He didn't ask questions, didn't let us ask questions, just talked over us, giving me the clear impression that he flat didn't care.  I was really unhappy.  Then he said Darrel could go home--that day!!  What?  He needs the therapy he is there for, and cannot get it here!  That's why he is there!  He also told him he didn't need anything for pain!  Well, I am quite sure the Dr. couldn't feel any pain!  But Darrel sure does!  And he said for him to ditch the wheelchair and get up and use a walker, using toe touch weight bearing!  We were told in Wichita NO weight bearing for 12 weeks!  And that was one day short of three weeks!

I know, TMI.  But I was so stressed and dismayed.  Oh, yes, he looked at me and said, "You can take care of him at home!"  Not even knowing I was in the wreck with Darrel, nor caring, evidently.  I just didn't feel Darrel was ready to come home, nor was I ready yet to take on the whole responsibility of his care.  The nurses and the therapists couldn't believe it, either!  The Social Services lady said she was very uncomfortable with the idea, too.  The only one happy about it was Darrel, because, naturally, he wants to come home.  So the SS lady called both therapy places here and was told he could only get one hour of therapy two to three times a week, when he is getting three to fours hours of therapy there five days a week and some on weekends!  So we decided to talk to Darrel and see if we could get him to agree to stay for at least one and possibly two more weeks.

He was amenable to the idea, saying he really didn't mind staying there, if we could resolve the issues over his medications.  (There have been problems.)  They called in the DON and got that lined out, and he is still there, and making remarkable progress, I think.  Praise God for His intervention!  Needless to say, we WILL find another doctor!

Sorry to be so long winded, thanks for letting me vent.  I love you friends!

Oh my, Janet!  What a horrible experience with that doctor!  I'm sure God has someone for you and will bring him into the open in His time.

Pat, I came very close to missing it, too!  So very thankful to be alive to celebrate this birthday!
Thanks for the beautiful cake.  And it won't make me sick, either.  (I am finding even a moderate amount of sugar makes me sick these days; same with grease.  Guess I don't need either one!  But I can enjoy this cake and feast on it with my eyes!

Love you, dear Pat!

Carol

I appreciate your kind words on our grandson - he is well trained through the Scout program and I think it is such valuable training.

Janet:  Uff da, as my relatives say - what a trial you go through and then such an uninformed medical treatment - good grief.  Beth and Darrel must have been so happy to get "out".  Oh, by the way
Happy Birthday young at heart!

We went to special Sat night service and heard the pastor and son who have the book on Heaven is Real - I think that is the proper title.  Amazing story.  We were there with several thousand people - yes, a mega church.  Normally, we go to the early service in the Chapel so this was a change - but tomorrow, we will meet with almost all of the family.  Oldest son is fishing on an island in SE Canada.

Today, I spent hours with four gals working on a quilt that is a giveaway.

Hi everyone. It is another sunny and soon to be hot day on this Father's Day Sunday.  Shortly I will go to pick up something for our Sunday breakfast and then we will later go to Sunday School and church and then get something to eat for lunch before we come home. Yesterday our four friends got here around noon.  We spent a few minutes here and then we went to Cheddar's for a very nice lunch and a great time of visiting.  By the time we finished lunch  it was 2:30 and the ladies decided they needed to head back home as it is a 2 1/2 hour drive.  The visit was short but very enjoyable.

When I got home I found my new Chromebook had been delivered.  I got it out of the box and plugged it in and then rested for 90 minutes or so.  Pat had volunteered last week to provide some cookies for one of the church services (the contemporary one) as it was our Sunday School's turn to provide the refreshment.  We had forgotten to get them at Walmart yesterday morning so I made another trip to the grocery store and then later yesterday evening we took them to the ladies home who gets things ready on Sunday morning.  These folks lived in one of those mansions along the Savannah River on a golf course in front and the river behind.  This is the lady that hosts the annual Sunday School Christmas party so am looking forward to being inside the home.  I had only an hour or so too play with the Chromebook so look forward to working with it more this afternoon.  It is much too early to say whether I like it or not.

Janet, first of all let me with you a Happy Birthday.  So glad that Darrel got to go out with you all to celebrate as it will likely do you both a world of good.  Glad you didn't have any trouble navigating in Garden City. Too bad you didn't have a better doctor's experience.

Carol, glad you enjoyed the special Saturday night service.

Hi everyone.  We are to see a high today of 103 degrees-not looking forward to that.  Once again I awoke at 4:30 and couldn't go back to sleep so read my message boards and email while I was still in bed.  Only one activity on the schedule for today and that is at noon and then will stay in where it is cool.  We did attend church but didn't go out to eat afterwords as we both we tired.  We had a nice restful afternoon and then I watched golf the rest of the afternoon and evening.  I have never watched so much golf in one day before but did enjoy it and it was an interesting finish.  I did work more on my Chromebook and hope to spend some more time on it today.  I think I am going to like it.  I am getting it set up the way I want it.

Hope all had a nice weekend and are looking forward to a nice summer week.

Janet

Good morning!  I think I missed posting for a day or two; very busy and still somewhat stressed.  But I'm doing better each day, and the Lord blessed me with the best and most restful night's sleep I've had since the accident.
When I drove Beth's van to take Darrel out to eat, the door made an awful squealing when we opened it, and then wouldn't close properly.  We don't use it much these days because it is too hard for me to take Beth out by myself; loading her is very hard.  Anyway, Darrel looked and told me to see if I could get it into a repair shop and get it fixed, as he is afraid the bearing is going out and the cable may either snap or come off or something and then will be bigger problems.  So I called first thing this morning and it's now in the shop.  They will have to order the parts,so I don't know how long it will be there.  But John is coming soon and will need it to take Beth places.  She says she can't wait to get out and go for some "real food!"

Darrel is thinking he can come home about Wednesday.  I don't know....but that's his plan, anyway.  They were to get him on walker or crutches (or both) today--not at the same time!  ;) and see how well he does.  He had a pretty good night last night and was waiting to go either to therapy or for his shower when I called him.

This long-seeming ordeal will only seem a blip in time, after it is over, and it WILL pass.  I just pray for the strength to do what I need to do each day.  One day at a time, Sweet Jesus!

Larry, I'm glad to see that you're enjoying your new Chromebook.  There is a fellow who sits with Darrel for meals who reminds me so much of you, in looks.  He has mild Alzheimer's, so he only makes me think of you because of his looks and his very kind demeanor.  :)

I just got a call that Darrel's scripts for a walker and crutches are ready, so I will go pick those up and go to the medical supply place and see if they have them on hand.  If so, I may drive to Garden to take them to him.  We shall see! :)
