Morning Devotional...

The Scapegoat
by Iain Mackenzie

'But the goat, on which the lot fell to be the scapegoat, shall be presented alive before the Lord, to make an atonement with him, and to let him go for a scapegoat into the wilderness.'
Leviticus 16:10

There is much to glean in the book of Leviticus though often it is difficult to write about. The events of this chapter however are very clear indeed. Any soul burdened with guilt should find comfort in the story of the scapegoat.

The tabernacle was no doubt built with the spoils of Egypt. It is interesting to note that when the children of Israel were asked to give a free will offering towards the building of the tabernacle and its furniture they did so with a willing heart and more than enough was handed over.  In fact there came a point when Moses had to tell them to stop giving!

Are there days when I take my salvation for granted? The children of Israel showed their gratitude for their deliverance through their offerings. Do I hold back that which is rightfully God's?

Do I ease my conscience through my tithing and think little about any addition offering? Do I truly give my all for the Lord or do I hold back?

Christ Jesus was spent for me. I desire to be spent for Him but am I truly willing to be spent? I often wonder what am I exposing myself to? Am I leaving myself wide open for ridicule, for poverty, for further pain and suffering?

I may hold many fears about a total surrender of body, mind and soul for Jesus, and I may wonder where I will land if I make such a commitment.

If I am to fall anywhere, I truly believe that it will be into the loving and all-powerful arms of Jesus. Them that honour me, I will honour.

I have walked the walk of a Christian for many years now, yet there always seems to be a 'holding back' from total dedication. It is as if it must be put off until another day.

The Lord has asked me to open my mouth wide yet I have shown great reluctance in doing so. I want the blessings and I want His favour, but what of the cost?

The longer I go on the more I see the cost that was paid for me and the less I fear. The more of myself that I give to the Lord the more I receive in return.

It is part of my spiritual education and though I am a stubborn and poor pupil yet His care and patience with me is obvious.

The greatest hindrance to His favour and His blessing is when sin is lying at my door. It need not be any outward sin, nor a sin that any of my fellows may be aware of, but it is sin that I know about and sin that has not been repented of. Sins of commission and sins of omission. I am guilty of both on a daily basis.

Because I have sinned against God, I still try and rectify the problem through my own good works. I would have fitted in well in Galatia! Peace however does not come to my needy soul through anything that I do or have done.

Each and every day I must get back to basics and take my guilty soul to Calvary for cleansing.
There may be times when it is difficult to 'see' Jesus dying on the cross for me.

The Lord however is gracious and He has given us highly visible 'expressions' (I hope that is the right word), of the nature and working of His way of salvation. There is none clearer than the picture we have of the scapegoat.

Aaron having laid both of his hands upon the head of the scapegoat confesses all the iniquities and transgressions of his people.

The goat is then led away from the camp by the hand of a fit man and taken into the wilderness never to be seen again. The goat bears the iniquities into a land that is not inhabited.

Kneeling at the foot of the cross I confess my sins to God. On the cross Jesus is punished for my sins and dies in my room and stead. My sins are taken and laid upon Jesus.  The penalty for these sins is paid through the sacrifice of Jesus. I in turn am found clothed in His righteousness. This is not a reward, it is a gift from God.

This is God's way of saving sinners. His way is perfect and it converts the soul that lies in sin. The confessed and repented sin of a Christian is hidden in Christ.  He bore our sins on the cross at Calvary. He died that we might have life and have it more abundantly.

It is wrong to suffer the guilt of sins which have been repented of. It is as if God's sacrifice is not good enough. Who then is setting the standard?

Is there yet another name whereby we can be saved? No, there is none other name under heaven given among men whereby we must be saved.

His name is Jesus. His blood not only cleanses from all our sins and shortcomings, it also takes away our guilt and replaces it with a peace which passes all understanding.

Your brother in Christ

Hi, friends,

It's so good to hear from y'all today. I'm recuperating still, but find that each day is a bit better than before. Tomorrow I play piano for the devotions period downstairs, then will go to my dental appointment for the much needed adjustments to the lower partial plate. Oweeeeeey! Each time I try to wear them the pain is almost unbearable.

It's great to see those nice photos, Marilyn. Good to hear of your recovery and how much family and friends are helping you, Janet. And, it's good to learn that Daryl may be improving enough to consider going home, even though that doctor seemed must cruel and unfeeling in the visit. :(  Larry, do take care of yourself. And, Carole, I seem to always forget to mention that I read each of your posts and pray according to the needs. Pat, thanks for the new page in our forum and for your wonderful abilities and love shown through CP. That devotional by Iain was quite good. I miss his participation here. Jeanne, thank you for what you do here.

For friends I may have forgotten or haven't seen here in a while, please know I love you and care deeply.

Love to all,
Ruth Ann

:)  Hi to all on C. P.   Sorry that I have not been on here but since my wife's surgery and 6 days in Toronto with her then came home one week yesterday we have not stopped.  I have some great news.  Noreen finally got her new knee   and she is so happy and there was one more test done for the infection and we are waiting to see if it is clear and if it is she will be clear of  M. R. S. A.  which I think is called  Mersa or its cousin is Staff infection and they are so hard to get rid of.  :)

Pat thanks for the great devotional that you put in.

Noreen and I want to thank all of you for your continued prayer for this last two plus years for Noreen and it is not yet over as she still has a long recovery but we know that the Lord is with us and he continues to give us strength daily.

May the Lord's richest blessing;s be with you all and that you all have many opportunity's to be a witness for the Lord Jesus.  Love in Christ  Gordon and Noreen :cp: :bananadance:

After a really good night, now I/m having the opposite kind.  Have been lying awake for hours, so decided to come see what happened in here yesterday.

I did get the crutches and walker and drove to Garden to take them to Darrel.  He thought he could get right up and go on those crutches, but found he couldn't; he needed instructions and a bit of support via the gate belt.  A little while tired him completely out!  PT girl said she would come get him early today before it gets so hot, and take him outdoors for more practice.

I rushed back home to attend a funeral service at 5:00, for a much loved and respected lady who somehow contracted a form of mad cow disease and just wasted away. What a celebration of her life it was!  Wow!  They played a song she and her husband recorded a few years ago, and her husband also sang The Lord's Prayer.  Cards she had received during her illness were strung all the way around the huge auditorium!  The service was held in the Civic Center, the only place big enough to hold the over 1000 people who attended.  After the graveside service at the cemetery, we were all invited back to the Civic Center for a catered meal, and it was wonderful.  I got home at 9:30, totally exhausted.  I never attended a 4 1/2 hour funeral before!  But it was very inspirational and special.

My plan is to stay home and rest today.  I know I have been doing too much the past few days, and need to be in better shape by the time Darrel comes home.  Not sure yet when that will be; it is up to his therapists now.

Ruth Ann, I do hope they get your partial plate fixed so it's comfortable.  We do not like those Owieees!

Marilyn, it looked from your photos as if a good time was had by all!  Nice!

Pat, I really enjoyed Iain's devotional, thanks for sharing that with us.  We need to talk, girl!

Carol, Ruth Ann, Larry, Jeanne, and all who have expressed care and concern for us as we walk this unexpected bend in the road, I pray God will richly bless you for your kindness.

I guess I will go back to bed and see if maybe I can get at least a couple hours' shut-eye!

Hi everyone on a hot and humid morning.  We were under a severe storm watch yesterday afternoon but it veered to the south and missed up completely (not complaining although some rain would have been welcome).  I just watered my flowers outside my window as they are suppose to be kept damp so water them every morning.  In a few minutes I have to leave to see the dentist as Saturday one of my old crowns came off as I was eating lunch.  I have the crown to take to the dentist and sure hope it just broke and can be put back on.  I am scheduled to have my new crown seated on Thursday morning but I hope he may have time to do both things this morning.  After the dentist I will probably go downtown to have coffee with the guys. Then the plan is to stay in where it is cool.

Janet, so glad to read about Darrel's better night and the progress that is being made.  I know you will be greatly relieved when John arrives and is able to take Beth places and that burden (I am sure of love) you have had for a long time will be lessened.  As you have indicated you know that God will not demand more of you than you can handle even when the burden's are heavy.  If necessary take life one hour at a time.  I am getting a bit forgetful at times but don't think it has anything to do with dementia.  Thank you for the nice compliment.  What a celebration of life and such a huge turnout.

Gord, nice to see your encouraging posting about Noreen's progress.  Will pray for continued healing and that he give you the energy needed to provide the care she needs at this time.

Marilyn, wow that ten days went quickly but expect home looked pretty good to you.  It always does to me.

Pat, thank you for posting Iain's devotional thoughts for us for this week.

Ruth Ann, hope the dentist will be able to fix the problem with the denture so you can wear it without pain.

Gord Brown

:)  Good Morning to all it almost lunch time and Noreen is supposed to get her stitches out today but I think he may not take all of them out.   We have a very humid day also and it has gone cloudy and then the sun comes out again so you have to watch that it does not start raining again as the windows are open in the car.  Had to go to Chrysler to get a recall fixed this morning and we were first notified over one year ago and it takes so long for the actual part to come in. :coffee:

Well must go for now hope you all have a wonderful day.  God's richest blessing's to you all.   Gordon and Noreen.

Gord, what great news about Noreen's knee.  Prayers for healing continue.   :)

Marilyn, it's good to know you're back safe and sound, and that you had such an enjoyable vacation.

Janet, good that you were able to get the appliances Darrel needs and that he'll be getting the therapy he needs so that he can come home.

Ruth Ann, is it a sore on your gums or something on the denture that needs to be got rid of?  Either way, it's no fun.

It's getting more and more humid here today (or as one of the closed caption writers says - "more human" :D )  I may end up putting a couple of fans in the windows for the first time this year.  Guess this would be a good time to do that - my son is here for a couple of days.   :thumbsup2:

The housekeeper from the Senior Center is here, and I had her clean out the refrigerator, as I knew it needed to be done but just couldn't get up the gumption to get at it!  :-\  I had to go to town to sign a paper at the dermatologist's office for Beth getting her stitches out where the neurofibroma was removed last week.  I ate tuna salad at the Sr. Ctr. then went to see Beth but ran out of time, as they were cleaning her up;  so I will need to drive back to town again after Maribel gets through cleaning--I mean after her two hours run out!  I was hoping to rest today, but it isn't playing out that way at all.

I talked to Darrel and he had a good night.  Also ate his breakfast and kept it down.  So he's making progress!  Praise God!!

Hi, friends,

It's been a busy day today. I thoroughly enjoyed the chapel time this morning. Our speaker has truly been blest of God. He has gone through tremendous challenges both in life itself, and then from a disabling stroke, from which he is still recovering. Recently he was able to begin walking without his walker. That recovery has stretched out since 2006!

Then, off to the dentist. The pain is greatly lessened. With the warm salt water rinses and soft foods for a few more days, I believe this will be behind me. Of course, after the recovery period is over and all is set to my satisfaction, this period of pain will gradually recede in my memories.

Aren't we glad that God helps us keep the wonderful treasures of good memories - times that probably can't be duplicated, and review again the joys experienced. :)

May our Lord bless y'all really well.

Love to all,
Ruth Ann

Hi everyone.  Again we missed the rain yesterday afternoon that seemed to be headed our way.  However, it did cool the late afternoon down quite a bit.  Today we are looking at a 99 degree day.  Pat and I plan a trip to Aldi's later this morning and then will stay in the rest of the day.

My dentist visit turned into something much bigger than expected.  I had to have the tooth,  where the crown had come off, removed and then the the two adjoining teeth prepared for a bridge.  Then when he went to put in the new crown I was expecting to get seated on Thursday he found the lab had not made it according to his prescription and is sending it back for a redo.  So I now have a temporary brige and a temporary crown and a sore gum where the tooth was pulled.  It was a bit painful yesterday but it didn't keep me awake last night and feels better this  morning.  Dental work is certainly expensive anymore.

Gord, there have been a lot of car recalls this past year or so.  Glad you got your car recall done.  So far haven't had any affecting my Hyundai.  Hope Noreen was able to get her stitches out.

Jeanne, nice to read that your son is visiting.  Hope you are staying cool on the humid and hot days up your way.

Janet, sounds like the lawyers are at work again having to sign a paper before they would take out stitches.  This must be something new as you would think signing the consent for the procedure to be done initially would cover the entire process.  Hope you did find some time for rest yesterday.  Glad Darrel had  good night.

Ruth Ann, glad your pain is much less in your mouth.  Having one tooth extracted wasn't pleasant and can't imagine what it must have been to have had several pulled at the same time.  I think good memories do last while the bad ones, although perhaps not totally forgotten, fade into the recesses of our mind where we can generally leave them.

Janet

Ruth Ann and Larry, god thoughts re good memories and bad ones.  I surely agree with you!  I keep telling Darrel that once he is home and has recovered, this long time of hospitalization will seem a mere blip in time.  But while it is going on, it feels like forever!  God is so good, in every way.  I find new things each day for which to praise Him.  Today, it is for a friend who has volunteered to dri ve me to Garden City!  :)  Plus so many other things, big and small!

I'm waiting for the handyman from the Sr. Ctr. who is to come for two hours to help me with the garden work that needs to be done.  I tried to do it, but had to admit it is too much for me right now.  :-[  So I am depending on the goodness of God and the help of others for a while.  It should help me remember to be humble, thanking God each day for strength and health. Praise His name!

I must run, guy is overdue, so should be arriving momentarily!

Janet, I'm so happy to read that Darrel had  a better night.  What date was this accident again?  Seems like a long time has passed since that horrible day.  And I'm happy that he's getting a bit better each day.  AND YOU TOO, GIRL!!!  Look after yourself too.  You're not getting any younger!  Listen to your elders!!!  :)

Larry, I'm so sorry about your teeth.  I have problems right now in my mouth but not enough $$$ to see about the problems.  I'll have to take the plunge one day though.  (After I pay my furnace!)

Glad your son is with you for awhile, Jeanne, helping you do things that need to be done.  Enjoy the time with him my friend.

Glad Noreen is feeling better, Gord.  Give her a hug from me.

Ruth Ann, it's so nice that you have a nice chapel service to attend so close to home.  That would be pleasant for me as well.  Happy, too that your mouth feels less painful right now.

I started a topic in our Prayer and Praise for Ed McMurray's wife who is suffering from cancer.  Ed's user name on Christian Photographers is "Fast Eddie".   Please click this link and let Ed know that you'll be remembering him and his wife Donna in prayer during this time of trial and heartache.

I have some gardening to do.  With all the rain we've had during the past several days, the weeds should be easy to pull.  I've got a few blackberry canes that are doing well so maybe a few blackberries will be in my future!

Hi, friends,

Well, it's been fairly quiet in the Bice abode today. The cleaning lady came, so now I have fresh laundry and a nice clean apartment. :)

I certainly understand about your teeth causing problems, Larry and Pat. Hi, Janet and Carole and Jeanne, and others who come here.

Y'all take care,

Janet

Pat!!  So good to see your post!  The wreck was May 28th at 1:01 PM.  A beautiful sunshiny day--then......

But I have wonderful news!  My sweetheart is coming home tomorrow!!  He is SO happy!  He will need continuing therapy, and have to wear the boot for another six weeks, but that is a much better and quicker outcome than we had first expected.  Oh, God is good!  So Abby and I will be going to Garden tomorrow to get him and bring him home.  Happy, happy day!  :) :) :) :)

Yes, I do need to take care of myself, and just let some things go that I can't yet handle.  I tried to pick up something too heavy this morning, and have been paying the price all day.  :(   But I told Darrel that once he is home, if we both feel like sleeping all afternoon, we can just DO IT!  I just feel so very tired each day, but prayer sure helps, and God gives me the strength I need for that day.  Thank you, my Father, thank you!

As for getting younger, Pat, I feel I've aged about 10 years through this ordeal, but also feel sure I will bounce right back.  You can't keep a good gal down, you know, my ELDER sister!

So glad to hear Noreen's long trial with that knee is almost at its end.  Hugs to both Gord and Noreen.

Ruth Ann, wish I could come sit in and listen to you play.  That would be fun!

Boy!  Three of us in here having teeth problems all at once!  What's up with that?  :'(  So sorry, Ruth Ann, Larry and Pat.

And this ol' gal is going to bed EARLY again!  (Right after I find something to eat.)  I should skip that, though.   :-\

Hi everyone.  Another hazy morning and again no rain last night.  The yard watering system has run this morning and is now turned off until Monday morning.  Yesterday was a lost day as I had one of the down days I used to experience before we moved here and was too tired to try to go anywhere.  So our trip to Aldi's has been postponed.  Pat did go to Kroger's and the fruit stand (we now have some more of the delicious South Carolina peaches).  I am planning on going to coffee around 10 am and then to the Bible class at 11:45 this morning and that will pretty well fill up the day.

Janet, sure glad a friend volunteered to help you yesterday.  Don't be hesitant to ask for the help you need as most of us are willing to help someone in need if we can and if we aren't asked often don't have a clue about a need.  I am sure you have done many kind and caring things for others over the years and they would be happy to help you.  Hurrah!  Darrel is coming home.  It sounds like he has made great progress toward recovery and the six weeks will go much faster being at home.  Wonderful things happen to how we feel when we rest when needed.

Pat, fortunately we have something called Care Credit to use at dentist and doctor's offices that will extend credit without interest for a period of time (depending on the amount involved).  My expenses this week were so high that I have 24 months to pay it off without interest.  This way I don't wreck my bank account and it makes the payments less painful.  I have used this numerous times in the past and it works very well for us. Sorry you are having more problems with your teeth.  My Pat bought a basket of very large blackberries yesterday at the fruit market but said they really didn't have much flavor.  I like the taste of blackberries but not the miserable seeds.

Ruth Ann, isn't it nice to have a totally cleaned place when the cleaning folks leave.  Does the lady do your laundry also? We are trying to get someone lined up for cleaning but don't need help with the laundry.

Carol

wishing for a cleaning person...... it takes me forever.  Most of all, I am grateful to still be able to do the job.

Our refrigerator bought last fall is on the blink - the freezer part is not working and the refrigerator part is not cool enough.  One more tech will come tomorrow and a part has been ordered to be here (from Asia) by July 7th.  We are warily remembering the former microwave from Korea we had to give away because the part had not come in over 7 months.  Not to worry, we kept the old fridge and it is in the garage so it was easy to start up and everything is saved.

Yikes, dentists and vets cost more than a doctor visit anymore.  I am trying a new dentist that is more reasonable in price - otherwise, my regular dentist has a very expensive building here and he owns an apple farm in Nebraska.  We don't need to help him keep that place going too - his prices have gone so far up.

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  It is also pretty warm outside.  A little bit ago I went out on the porch to water my beautiful flowers.  As far as I know I will just stay home today.  Pat has something planned later this morning.  I think I will work on photos that I have online today to remove a lot of them that are duplicates are meaningless.  I also need to start labeling them.

Carol, I hope you can soon find a cleaning person as it is really worth it.  You would have more time for quilting.  :)  We have had bad results with a Maytag refrigerator that we replaced with a Whirlpool one after only two or three years.  We have had no problem with the Whirlpool.  It sort of staggers the imagination that they would not keep adequate parts for repair here in the US.  Glad you have a backup refrigerator.

Carol

Feeling so good right now, I just learned how to BLOCK a caller on the iPhone.  Dreadful intrusion - supposedly, I just won a ton of money.  Just call back - oh, sure and then you get a huge phone bill.

The 2nd. repairman is here this morning and we shall see how this goes.

Yes, Larry.  Funds are tight right now and insurance, food prices are rising.  We continue with hailstorms so you know insurance will hit a new high and has in a few places already.  But I will consider having some help - even twice a year would be fantastic.  It is the baseboards & things like that - oh, well.  Napping in between.

Janet:  Great news on Darrel returning home.  I do hope you get some help too because you haven't recovered completely.

Prayers for Ed and Donna!!!!

Hi, friends,

It has been a hectic time around my place. When I walked back in to my apartment this afternoon, I had driven various places and gotten in and out of the car to transact business that I nearly got overheated.

So, I was thankful to come inside to my cool apartment and rest in the big, soft green, recliner chair. It really felt good to know all the duties for two of us had been attended to and I could actually rest. It's surprising how a good long rest really refreshes a person.

We have had a death in the family, my brother in law, so all the kids are planning to come in for the funeral except for the son who is overseas. So, lots of calls and text messages have been flying back and forth all day. Fortunately, I will have this weekend to rest. Then the funeral will take up a majority of the day on Monday, with the burial on Tuesday morning. All arrangements should be completed tomorrow, so I'll check with the funeral home at mid morning.

About the teeth, each adjustment finds the lower denture easier to use. We're not there yet, but certainly moving closer to the goal. :)

I'm so very grateful for the cleaning people. It really gives me a lift to know that when the person leaves, I have clean clothes, hung up and put away, and the apartment vacuumed and dusted. Now, for me to scurry around and take care of some of the clutter that they can't make decisions as to whether to keep, toss, or file. :)

Much love to all of you,

Ruth Ann

Whew!  Another hectic, tiring day.  Had appointments at 9, 10:30 and 1:00.  Getting Darrel started on his therapy here, finding him a taller walker, as they don't want him to use the nice one with seat and wheels until he's more stable, and the one the Sr. Ctr. loaned us was too short for him.  My wonderful friend Gerty brought us a delicious meal of chicken, noodles and mashed potatoes for supper, which was such a help, as I am just worn out.  Darrel said, "Boy!  This tastes so much better than anything I've had for a month!"  He ate good and it stayed down.

He had a rough night last night, so I did as well.  And now his leg is hurting more because of the different therapy today.  I hope we can both sleep tonight!  We need it!  At least I don't have to go anywhere tomorrow if I don't want to!  That's a relief.  As Etta Sue would say, I really need a do nothing day!

Yes, help with the house cleaning is wonderful!  We now have Maribel two hours a week, and that keeps us in pretty good shape, except for the mail that stacks up and takes so long to take care of.  Ugh.

I'm headed to bed.  Good night!

Hi everyone.  I got out early this morning (at least early for me, which is before 8 am) and watered the flowers and did the other chores I do around the house each morning, including fixing my breakfast.  I just checked the weather and the heat index says it will be like 108 degrees this afternoon. We will be staying home today as in about an hour our son is bringing his wife over to spend the day with us as he has to work two different shifts today and she really can't be left alone that long.  Last evening we did go out for a bite to eat as Pat said she was tired of cooking and needed a night out of the kitchen.

Carol, the blocking feature on the iPhone and other smart phones is really a nice feature.  I don't think you will ever regret getting some help with your housework.  Pat and I have been trying to do it here since we moved and both are more than ready to get someone to come every couple of weeks to clean. I got a couple of leads from my new coffee group and Pat has called but so far no return calls.  Hope it is just that they may be on vacation this week and that we will hear shortly.

Ruth Ann, sorry to learn of the death in your family circle.  Hope you can get the needed rest this weekend in preparation for what will be needed next week.  Glad your teeth situation is improving with each dentist visit.

Janet, aren't those unexpected meals so helpful.  I know we have certainly appreciated getting them at times when we needed such help.  Hope Darrel had a better night last night and you both got some much needed rest.

Gord, I don't believe you had confirmed to us that in fact the infection that Noreen has been fighting has finally been conquered.  That is indeed good and encouraging news.

Carol

A wonderful, peaceful morning here.  There is a light plane flying nearby and a car going by occasionally.  Prayed for the entire world - so much terror and now a ruling by our own Supreme Court that just stupefies me to no end.

I do now have a picture of the Duluth aerial bridge quilt hanging and now I cannot remember who was going to post it for me.  Jeanne?

Thanks all for your wise words that are taken very seriously.  My mop broke and can't be fixed - do you suppose that is a sign?

:)  Larry:  Thanks for letting me know.  Boy you are getting it very warn there.  We are having a very wet day and it is supposed to rain all weekend not so happy about that as there is always things to do outside so that is a pain.  Have a great day and don't overdo things.  God's richest blessing's to you and Pat. :coffee:

Carol:  I am quite sure that there is also many people up in Canada are so upset with the  ruling of the Supreme Court it is so against  God's word.

I hope that all on C.P. have a wonderful  day tomorrow with your family of God.  May the Lord richly bless you all.
                                                                      Gordon and Noreen. :cp: :rocker:

Ruth Ann Bice

Hi, friends,

It's been a very quiet day today. I'm so grateful for the days where I can rest and regain my strength.

Y'all are great at keeping all of us informed. Know that I love y'all and pray with you for God's will to be done for the prayer requests made known here.

Love to all,
Ruth Ann

Good afternoon!  It is hot again here, but still less so than a few days ago!

Yes, thank you, Larry, Darrel and I did both have a better night last night.  I got up feeling really good, at 5:00, and he was already up.  He spent the last half of the night in his recliner.  But I started working right away, never pausing for six hours, and by then I was wiped out; again.  :P  I know I shouldn't do this!  I really do!  But there were so many things we needed done, and he can't do any of them, and......well, you get the picture.  When he went back to bed and was sleeping soundly around 9:00, I went to town to get a hand-held shower wand, the only thing we lacked in the way of equipment for him.  I called first to see where they had them, to save time.

The garden and other plants were really dry; they HAD to have water, or die!  And so on and so on.  I also made a huge pot of stew so we will have food over the weekend.  It really made more than I intended, but I can always freeze some for later.  Anyway, after finishing off the chicken and noodles Gerty (yes, she really spells her name like that!) brought us for supper last night, and fielding several phone calls, I went to bed and had a nice nap for an hour.  And isn't this all just fascinating?  ;)

Yes, Carol, I do think the broken mop is a sign!  :)  I know it is hard not to just DO what you are used to doing and have always done, but I am learning (or am I?) that there comes a time we need to slow down.  I think both you and I need to learn from Larry how to manage that!

Ruth Ann, glad you had a recuperation day, too!

Gord, glad Noreen's MRSA is gone now.  That was a long time in coming!

Hello to all the rest of you fine folk!
