Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Great job Karmat,

I have my animations on a list alphabetically.  I didn't think I should post a 'good morning' animation since it is 3:40 in the afternoon...so you got the hound dog one.  ::)

It is official now.  Half of 2008 is over!!!

Larry ~ I am fortunate to still be living out in the country.  There isn't a house south of me for a mile and that is where my clothesline is...on the south side of my house.  No one can see my laundry from the road...just the sod farmer when he is cutting sod!!  I guess I am trying to save electricity since I haven't ran my dryer since April.

I hear Ivalou mowing her grass and saw Kaye Don mowing earlier.  I mowed Saturday.

I read my devotions outside at the bistro table with a cup of coffee.  Seemed weird.  No wind.  So after I did my back exercises, I got my new sprayer and put RoundUp in it and sprayed the sides of my driveway.  About halfway done...the sprayer stopped.  In the meantime, Barb and Kaye Don's dog, Libby, came over.  I don't encourage her to come over and when she does, I don't make over her.  I tell her to 'Go home, Libby!'  But she wouldn't go home today.  When I came in the house, she wanted in but my furgirls don't like her and hides for hours.  So I took another cup of coffee outside to the bistro table.  Libby was just walking around sniffing everything so I decided to take her back home.  I told Kaye Don about the new sprayer and he told me how to clean the nozzle.  When I came back home, I cleaned the nozzle and was back in business and finished the driveway.

Then Ivalou walked over and asked me if I would like to go somewhere for lunch....SURE!!  So we ate at Lapel and then she went to the bank and to get lawn mower gas.

It is hot out there today.  Nice to be inside where it is cool.

Etta Sue, at these prices, one almost needs to go to the bank before going for lawn mower gas!  ;)  I like your ol' hound dog.  :)  By the way, how is your sis in law Barb doing?  Home yet?  Climbing up those two or three steps?

Carol, I appreciate the thoughts.  I know now that I don't want to continue working, or at least not often!  Probably I will finish the month of July, and that will be it.  And as soon as we get the information from Overseas Adventure Travel, I will give you the info on that trip.  They hadn't even set the dates yet for 2009.  I hope your stressful time with the house dealings is soon over!

Larry, thanks for that additional link.  I was able to access the story and the video this time.  Good information to have, for sure.

Hi, Paul!  Good to see you!

Shutterbugmom, your post was chock full of good news!  God is really smiling down on you, and that is wonderful.  Congratulations on the cover job!!

Hi, Karma.  So sad about the little boy.  :(  Glad your little family is safe.

When I got home from work, I sat down in my recliner, kicked off my shoes, tried to watch the 700 Club, and took a nice nap.  ^-^  Just what I needed, I think.  5:30 sure comes early in the morning!

Darrel and I got our so-called stimulus check today.

Hi everyone.  Another beautiful day and this is Bible Study morning with the pastor at the church.  Tonight I have a meeting to attend.

Janet, you sound more relaxed all ready having made your decision.  Your upcoming trip sounds very exciting.  Sometimes the planning is about as much fun as the actual trip.

Etta Sue, obviously Libby likes being around you.  Either that or she likes to come over to annoy your cats.

Happy Birthday, Larryboy.

Kathleen, your post was just sparkling with joy.  Congratulations on getting the magazine cover and I hope it is the first of many for you.  It sounds like your Bible School was also very good.  Bible School at our church is coming up a little later this month.

Carol, moving is sure stressful.  I think I will just stay where I am as long as I can.  Things usually work out.

Karmat, nice to see you back and know that you and your family had a good vacation.  Glad you went to the airshow on Saturday and not Sunday.

Time to leave for the morning.

Good morning, friends,

They say it's gonna be a great day here in Nashville - temps very reasonable and low humidity (which is rare here). :)

Larry, you asked about the client relationship. It bears promise for a long consulting relationship if my work is satisfactory. I'll probably put in about 20-25 hours on this project, which is due on Monday. So, I kinda know what I'll be doing on the Fourth.

LarryBoy I saw Scotty's birthday greetings - hope yours was great and that this new year in your life will be one where you're completely surrendered and in God's will, thus paving the way for serenity, hope, and peace. :)

It's really good to see everyone else, also. Thank you for being part of this great family.

Morning everyone!  :coffee:

I'm finally starting to feel rested from last week.  The older I get the longer it takes, it seems.   :sleepy:

It's going to be a hot one here in Idaho for the God & Country Festival.  Mark Shultz is going to be there to sing.  This is an outdoor, free event.  Pretty cool, hu?  Tomorrow will be even hotter at 103 degrees.  But as we like to say around here, "It's a dry heat!"

Etta Sue-You always have the cutest animated graphics in your posts and signatures.  How do you do it?  Maybe I'll learn with the HTML program I got for school for next year.  Anyway, they always make me smile.  :groupwave:

Scotty-You crack me up!  I saw your numbered posts.  It's good to have some younger blood around here.  No offense, older folks.  I consider myself an older folk, too!  I think sometimes we are too serious as we age and have physical ailments and other problems that seem to drain our sense of humor.  I do appreciate the other folks around here that have a sense of humor, too!  I like to think that I do, but sometimes I'm in that other "hurting" category and that's a drag.  At least I know that no matter how I feel at any one time or in any one circumstance, I still have the joy of the Lord down deep in my heart!  ;D

Larryboy-Belated Happy Birthday to you!   :hbirthday:  I hope you had a wonderful day.

Thank you all for the congrats on the cover job.  I won't really believe it until I have it in my hands, though.  It still seems like a dream or something.
It's supposed to come out in early September.

Ed-HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!  <3

Everyone else...have a wonderful day!  :hello:

Yes, it costs me about $6 to mow my lawn now.  Too much but I guess cheaper than fencing it all in and buying sheep.

As for my SIL, she is doing much better than I thought.  I think Kaye Don laid down the law.  Knee replacement surgery was two weeks ago today.  She came home 6 days after surgery.  I asked her if she had taken a shower yet.  She said yes.  I was wondering how she stepped over the side of the tub with a sliding glass enclosure but then she said she had to go to the basement to shower.  So she is going up and down the basement steps.  She has therapy 3 days a week.  She even went to a wedding Sunday but said her legs were still swollen.  Bet Kaye Don is getting tired of being Mr. Housewife.  She can think of so many things that she thinks she need NOW!

Ivalou and I are going to Noblesville this afternoon for a late lunch after I look at the proofs of pictures I had taken at the local Fire Barn Sunday.  She needs some fresh produce at Marsh's, the grocery store.

If I still have my get up and go, I plan to get out my power washer and wash sidewalks and maybe the brick and mortar on the house.  Maybe.  ???

Darrel went swimming with me this morning!  Oh, how good it feels to be back in the water.  ^-^

Happy Anniversary to Ed, and Happy Birthday to LarryBoy (although a little late, the wish is just as sincere.)

Etta Sue, thanks for the update on Barb.  I was wondering.  Sounds like you have a busy day ahead---well, about half over already, I guess.

This afternoon we are going to Liberal with some of the Seniors to the Liberty program.  We will be stopping in Hugoton to pick up Abby.  First is dinner at Cattlemen's Cafe, then to the church for the program.  Abby and I went last year, it was an outstanding program of patriotic music, very enjoyable.  So I have talked Darrel into going this time.  :)

Time to go pick up meds at the drug store, then to lunch at the Sr. Center.  See you later!

Hi everyone.  I got up a little earlier today as guess I laid on either side too long last night and my hips were aching a bit so not really comfortable.  It is fine now that I have been up and about.  My schedule is very light today.  I do need to get my car inspected and purchase new tags for it after paying the ad valorem tax on it.  I will try to take care of that this morning.

We should have a very nice day today as we did yesterday.

I think I will be brief today and give everyone a break as I usually prattle on.  Hope everyone has a good day.

Larry I don't know about anyone else but I enjoy your "prattle".  You keep busy, and I believe that is the reason for your youthful ways!.

Another busy day today so I had etter run and get as much done before 9 as I can.

Have a great day everyone.

Marilyn

Good Morning, I see I forgot to post yesterday. Benn busy catching up with things around home, shopping etc.

Larry I too like your prattle. What is the ad valorem tax? I have never heard of that.

Everyone must be either busy or running late with posting today.  Plus, I am a little earlier than usual.

The TV repair man is making a house call for us today to see if he can get my TV going again.  Darrel had taken it to him, he said it had lost all its programming, he reprogrammed it, but when Darrel went to pick it up, brought it home, hooked it up....all blank again.  I surely hope he can fix it, it is a nearly new set.  The problem was caused by a LOW voltage in the electricity.  :(

I am going swimming again today, then have to work for the next three days.  I have already told them this is the LAST time I will work three in a row!

The Liberty program last night was wonderful!  Great songs, great enthusiasm and great voices!  Abby didn't go after all, she was swimming with a friend, and that's okay.  The program refreshed our respect and gratitude for all of our service men and women, too.  They had one from each branch of the military there, and all of them were from Liberal, which was special for them.

Larry, I always enjoy your posts!  Prattle on!!

Time to go swim!

I guess it's more than my turn to "prattle" a little.  I enjoy reading about what you're doing, too, Larry.  I go today to a local shoe shop to get a process started to construct a special shoe that will compensate for my shorter leg on the left side.  The physical therapist applied on my behalf for a special grant from "the Angel Fund" to pay for this special shoe, with the hope that it may alleviate my hip problem.

Janet - hope you're not being "suckered in" by the Care center into working more than you should again.  Sometimes a person just has to say NO!  God bless you and give you special strenth.

It's raining.  It's dark out there.  But no wind.  Gentle rain.  Seems like it is 6am or 10pm.  Need lights on inside.

So with that being said, I am glad I have nothing planned to do today.  Nothing.  Sounds like a good time to get a good book to read.

:)  :)  :)  :)  :)  :)  :)  :)  :)  :)  :)  :)  :)  :)  :)  :)  :)  :)  :)  :)

Etta Sue:  I grew up in Seattle and a little rain didn't stop anything - have to laugh as it is overcast here and cool one day & everyone wants a nap.  We used to camp and do yardwork no matter what - well, not if it was a drenching rain.  Never owned an umbrella as hooded jackets were more practical.  Enjoy your day.

Janet:  It sounds like you had a very patriotic day - I love that music as well.  We don't hear it often enough.  Did you read about the woman who sang the Black National Anthem song instead of Star Spangled Banner as she was asked?  It took 2 days for the upper politicians to say that it was wrong - they had to find out what the public felt.  Actually, I am surprised that so many said it was disrespectful as many don't seem to care anymore.

Yikes, noise galore here.  They are drilling into cement in the basement.  We are having radon mitigation & they run a big & ugly pvc pipe outside so the radon will always be running a fan.  Not really necessary if no one sleeps downstairs all the time but the new owner had demanded this and we shall comply.  some people think this is the biggest scam of all times - I wouldn't know for sure.  It is costing us $850 and other buyers and the inspector didn't even mention having it done but we are so far along that we can't turn back now.  The joys of dealing with moving.

A young couple bought a big, heavy oak t.v. center we had in the basement & they came last night & had a terrible time hauling it upstairs.  I warned them several times about the weight & how big it was - determined.  We have to patch the walls a little but thank the Lord no one was hurt & it did look very out of hand at more than a few times.  It was actually stuck three times - unreal.  I don't know how the guys carried it downstairs when we moved here.  Enough excitement.  I let their little boy name the mama duck & gave him Hershey kisses when he broke his candy bar.

Carol, my kids (Abby's parents) had to have the radon stuff done on the house they bought.  Should have been paid by the seller, but it wasn't.  You are right, it looks ugly---and I think it is a scam, too, probably.  Rather like all the asbestos scare.  What a world we live in today.  Bet the little boy thought you were the greatest!  Oh, yes, we got an email that they do not have the dates yet for that trip, will let us know as soon as they are set!

Al, thanks.  One of the young girls at work has a brother who is getting married in Missouri this weekend, so I told them I will try to tough it out, but never again!  Hope the new shoe will give you relief from the pain.  When your feet, legs, ankles, knees or hips hurt, it's awful.  Voice of experience, lately.

I was the only person in the pool this morning!  But I had a good swim anyway.  After that I went to the care home to see Beth, and came home in tears.  She is so weak she can barely speak loud enough for me to hear her, some of the new girls (aides) had been rude and ugly to her, told her she should be in a mental hospital, had refused to toilet her, told her she could just go in her pants, etc., etc.  Just as she was telling me this, the director of nursing came to her door, so we told her, she took detailed notes of it all, and as I was leaving, I saw her in the office with some girls.  She said she would address the issues immediately; that they are NOT to treat people that way.  I said Beth has enough to deal with, without being treated badly by staff members, and the DOA agreed.  It is a very difficult situation and unless God intervenes, it will not get better.  Prayers for Beth appreciated.  Thanks.

My TV is working!!!!  PRAISE THE LORD!!  Darrel hasn't been home since I got back, so I don't know what it cost, but for sure less than a new TV.  God is good.

Etta Sue, we got just enough rain last night to peck up the ground a little.  They had a great rain in Liberal while we were in the Liberty show.  Maybe you will grow webbed feet! ;)

Good Morning, the sky is just starting to turn from dark to almost light here on California's northern coast. The dogs are eating their breakfast. I  medicated Happy last night and will do so again tonight. He is terribly afraid of loud noises. My DIL told me that during my vacation there was a terrible thunder and lightening storm here that lasted about 6 hours of very loud booms and bright flashes. Poor  Happy he must have been terrified. The noise dosn't bother Bebe.

I don't have any plans for today I am working both jobs, The first is 3 hours at my client ( Fran's) house, We spent the 3 hours yesterday baking lots of cookies for her to take to church on Sunday and also to freeze for a later date. I bet we made 15-18 dozen. The 2nd job, I go pick up another car and take a lady (Elizabeth) and her two dogs for a walk every day.  She can no longer drive so her car is at her daughter's house. My work day is over by noon so the rest of the day is mine.

Ihope you are all having a happy 4th  here in the states, eating lots of good food and enjoying family time.

Janet I am still praying almost daily for Beth.

Happy 4th to All!!

The weather man said it would be great weather today.  Well, it is dark and raining.  Maybe it will clear off by afternoon and evening.

Ivalou and I are going to Anderson.  We will eat somewhere...it's her day.  And then we want to look around for a birthday gift for her Secret Sister.  That's about all but better than sitting at home on a holiday.

Greetings to my fellow Kansan, LarryBoy.  We don't go to Wichita often, but lots of people here do.  We usually go to Amarillo, Texas, which is the same distance from here, because Darrel's mother and sister live there.

Thanks for the prayers, Marilyn.  My sister has a big dog that is terrified of loud noises, and nearly chewed the door off her house trying to get in when she heard the first firecrackers.  Jeanie got some anti-anxiety drops for her from the vet.

Diane (daughter) called last night, and we drove down so we could see Curtis, Toni and baby Alexis.  My great-grandbaby is growing so fast!  She wasn't a very happy camper, though, because she had missed her nap and is trying to cut some teeth. But she did let me hold and love her.  :)

Today is my first day with the new hours.  I go in at 11:30 and work until 8:00 tonight, or until the cleanup after supper is done.  I am praying for strength to get through these next three days!

I thought this was good, so wanted to share it with you:

I have moved!!

Can't remember if I told you that:

I have moved out from 1 Beggars Alley, located at 2 Poverty Lane at the
corner of Down and Out Circle . As of today, I have a brand new home.

My new address is Living Well on 3rd Abundance Drive, located at the
corner of Blessings Street and Prosperity Peak .
It's in the 'God Can' neighborhood. No longer will I allow myself to
travel to the other side of town on Begging Peter to Pay Paul Route,
located at a Dead End Intersection called I Don't Have , it connects
with Borrowers Junction.

I no longer hang out at Failure's Place, near Excuses Avenue, next to
Procrastination Point. I've moved to an upscale community called Higher
Heights with unlimited potential and opportunities for me to succeed. I
can do ALL things through Christ who strengthens me!

Life is good because God is good! Care to change your address? There are
many vacancies!

GREAT IS THY FAITHFULNESS - I AM WELL BLESSED AND SO ARE YOU, in spite
of temporary circumstances!

DON'T TELL GOD HOW BIG YOUR STORMS ARE, TELL YOUR STORMS HOW BIG YOUR
GOD IS!

And the word says, 'If I have not Love, I am nothing.'
So, again, love you.
Love who you are.
Look in the mirror in the morning and smile and say, 'I am too Blessed
to be Stressed and too Anointed, to be Disappointed!'

Losers let things happen.'

May God continue to bless this, the greatest country on earth, as we Christians humble ourselves and pray and seek His face, and turn from our wicked ways---then He will hear from heaven, and forgive our sins, and heal our land.  I am so thankful to have been born an American!

Hi everyone and Happy Fourth of July to those in the US.  Just back from coffee at the senior center and trying to walk in the little park adjacent to it.  However, the humidity was so bad today that I could only make it around 1 1/2 rounds before I had to sit down and rest for a little bit and then we just completed the round and decided to call it a day.  I think we will be going back to the church gym next week unless we have cooler mornings.

Yesterday our daughter went back into the hospital due to the infection in her foot and is back on another course of intravenous antibiotics.  The doctor has told her he thinks the infection has likely gone into the bone although they still need to x-ray and perhaps do an MRI to determine and if it has spread she is looking at six-months of intravenous antibiotics, which would be administered by a home health nurse.  However, we will cross that bridge if and when we come to it.  I wouldn't be surprised if she is in the hospital all weekend.

A lot of interesting postings since I was here yesterday.

Janet, so sorry to hear how weak Beth has become.  The treatment she is receiving from the aids is totally unacceptable.  So glad the supervisor knows of the problem.  Do you have a patient advocate for the facility?

Marilyn, I remember when we cats and dogs and the fourth of July was always hard on them.  The cat would just go and hide under the bed.

Larryboy, I was raised in NW Missouri so not really close to where you were raised but at least a neighboring state--both in the midwest.

Carol, we had to have the radon inspections when we lived in Maryland but fortunately didn't have to do anything beyond the inspection.  That doesn't seem to be a requirement in Georgia as I recall, just termite inspections.  Your furniture selling experience brought back memories of the house we had before we moved out this way when I sold an electric Conn organ that I had upstairs.  It was heavy and most difficult to get down the stairs.

Etta Sue, it is nice to have a quiet day periodically.  Hope you have better weather today. (I see your posting today that it is still rainy and dark out your way.)

Al, sure hope the new shoe is helpful to you.

Hi Judy and all who visit here today.

Carol

Happy 4th of July to all USA!!!
We are home alone and probably will be packing something today - a neighbor's son is picking up twin beds this afternoon.  Both of us took walks this morning but Don was out by 4:30 A.M. and saw the sun coming up along with a Blue Heron, too many geese, and various creatures.  There was a great series on our presidents on the History channel.

Janet:  I am so sorry about Beth.  She does seem to rally at times after these weak episodes.  Bless you and Beth and all your family.  Quit that job.

Larry:  Sorry about Stacey (if I remember her name correctly) as she has such a roller coaster health life.  Good for you to walk indoors if it is too hot and humid.

It is quiet on the golf course and I see a family out in two carts trying to find one of their golf balls.  LOL - it didn't hit our house this time.  Actually, it hasn't happened that often.  We will miss this location but look forward to a view of an open space behind the next place.  When they say open space, that doesn't mean it would be a good idea to walk in there except for the paths about half block away.  Don made an omelet this morning.

Good morning, friends, I'm getting ready to work all day on the client's project, but wanted to check in first. Maybe you'd like to come to Nashville to help us celebrate the holiday today.

By the way, Pat, I really enjoyed that link. And, the mention was made of "Old Glory." Well, Mr. Driver (I've forgotten his first name unfortunately) right here in Nashville gave the flag the name Old Glory. He's buried in the city's oldest cemetery, and was still alive back in the 50's when there was a huge article in our local paper about him.

Janet and Larry, it's so difficult to learn of your daughters' problems, as well as those of Wendy. My prayers are with each of you.

Well, our huge Fourth celebration here in Nashville may be dampened a bit - there's 50% chance of rain occurring and last I heard it was expected to come through here in the evening hours. wish y'all could be here sometime for that celebration. There's a big barge turned into a performance stage. Beginning in midafternoon various musical acts/performers keep the action going. Then, over 100,000 people will have gathered on the riverfront to watch first a boat parade right at dusk, when the boats coming downstream are highly decorated and sail by so gracefully and proudly. Then, there's always a powerful patriotic narration. The symphony concert begins, and for a finale, the symphony is playing patriotic music as a huge fireworks display is going on on the far side of the river bank.

I love to watch it (either in person or on television). There's such a festive feeling in the air, street vendors are hawking their snacks and their wares, parents are putting the little ones on their shoulders so they can stare in awe at what's going on around them - what a great way to spend the day.

Have a great holiday weekend folks.  I hope your weather is beautiful and you are able to get out and enjoy it.

The girls leave for Cadet camp tomorrow.  They are fearfully excited. It will be the first time away at camp for three weeks.  They received the balance of their kit from the military on Monday.  On top of all the extra uniform parts they got they will be paid to go to camp.

I think one of the puppies is gone this weekend.  They are all so cute.  Some have spaniel faces and the others have the border collie face.  The girls have been working on training them, and a very good job at that.  The little beggars run to the door and either bark or cry to go out potty.  That is amazing at 5 weeks.  They're 6 weeks tomorrow and they have been doing this potty dance for a week now.  I am guessing that is the border collie influence.

I must go and finish a task for the boss, Bye for now and God bless.

Thanks for the kind words, Larry and Carol.  Beth called me at work today to tell me she is very sick with the flu!  What next??  I stopped by after work for a minute, and she was feeling some better.

Larry, I hope the infection in Stacey's foot isn't into the bone.  Problems, problems.  I know how you feel.

I'm wiped out, going to bed soon.

Pat, lovely piece on the US Flag!  Long may she wave!

HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY!

Ruth Ann, I would love to experience the celebration with you!
