Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Morning Devotional...

THE GOSPEL WARNING

Verse

As he reasoned of righteousness, temperance, and judgment to come, Felix trembled. Acts 24:25

We who rejoice in the blessings that have come to us through the Savior, need to bear in mind that the gospel is not good news only! The message of the Cross is good news indeed for the penitent, but to those who obey not the gospel it carries an overtone of warning. The Spirit's ministry to the impenitent world is to tell of sin and righteousness and judgment. For sinners who want to cease being willful sinners and become obedient children of God, the gospel message is one of unqualified peace, but it is by its very nature also an arbiter of the future destinies of man. Actually, the message of the gospel may be received in either of two ways: in word only without power, or in word with power. The truth received in power shifts the bases of life from Adam to Christ-a new and different Spirit enters the personality and makes the believing man new in every department of his being!

Thought

The message of the Cross is good news indeed for the penitent, but to those who obey not the gospel it carries an overtone of warning.

Prayer

Lord, I am reminded that to truly be your son I had to surrender all to you. Help me daily to renew your Lordship in my life by remembering what your salvation requires.

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  I slept in this morning until 8 am but have had my breakfast and done my normal morning kitchen choirs and am now just waiting until time to go to church.  I don't know whether Pat is going to feel up to going to church or not as she was aching all over last night and think being out at the 50th wedding reception and then getting supper may have been too much for one day for her.

The schedule is clear for the afternoon and evening so will just rest, read and work some more on my smart phone.  I have been loading music on it via blue tooth.  It works very well.

Don, thanks for the fine devotional for this week.

Al Moak

Excellent reminder, Don.  We so much need to hear both sides of the Gospel.  It is His Word - how gracious of Him to remind us.

JudyB

Janet not offended with your stand on bats.  I know they are part of creation.  I know they have their place in ridding us of "bugs".  I just don't trust them.  I am not afraid of them, just don't trust them to not be carriers.

Yesterday was a full day of cadet activities. The actual inspection was shorter than nomal, it usually runs an aditional half hour to 45 minutes.  I got a call that my friend who was familiar to our dogs couldn't get in with the new key to let them out.  That meant a rushed trip back home to deal with the dogs.  That is an hour and a half round trip and time to deal withthe dogs means more time.  It all worked out though.  The dinner wasn't at the base like previous years, less pomp or formality.  They brought Swiss Chalet in, we ate on paper plates with plastic forks and knives.  I imagine the cost would have been considerably less, which left $$$ in the cadet coffers.  That leaves room for more activities! I think this was a better way to go.

John is home and unfortunately leaving with no log book reset.  That will leave him short on hours for the balance of the week.  When his dispatcher realizes what has happened he won't be a happy camper.  There will be no long US trips!  They need to realize there are consequences for not allowing proper rest.

Well I am off to prepare a weeks worth of meals.

Etta Sue

I couldn't get on CP this morning....timed out twice!

Ivalou and I got home around 3:30pm today.  We stopped at a Cracker Barrel for lunch or we would have been home an hour sooner!!  A bus load of people got there just before us!  Soooo busy!  But the meatloaf was soooo good!

Every thing is unpacked.  Now time to love the kitties!!  They missed me!  Either that or they are used to Kitty feeding them earlier than I usually do!

I guess we had a wind storm here last night.  Droid news said that a lady was killed in Anderson by a tree falling on her car.  Three kids were with her but they are okay.  I have two limbs broken on my Maple tree behind the house.  A job for Tony!

Off and running.  Well, off.

Carol

Etta Sue:  Did not realize that there are still storms out east.  Such a shame for the children to lose their mother - any parent for that matter.

Janet:  Our Eagle Scout grandson's major project was to have a crew build bat houses and they were installed by the Mount Evans area.  There was a great need for the houses according to the forest service.

The speaker this morning was a woman who is a national church leader - she was terrific.  Don still is coughing & lethargic so he gets a blood draw tomorrow and a scheduled checkup next week.  In other words, he did not go with me and it is difficult for him to listen to a woman's voice plus the music is a cacophony to him - always - so going to church is not always good option for him anymore. We check who is speaking & the program.

Here, it is hot and windy today.  I put a sprinkler out by a tree and a happy Robin found a fresh worm to play with.  The nest isn't in same tree this year.

Gord Brown

:)  Good evening to all.   We have had a beautiful sunny day and the sky has been a wonderful blue all day.  As i went through the posting's it seems that all have been very busy the story about the Bat is funny as we were having our small group study on Wednesday there was a very small one had got into the church basement but after we were finished we were able to catch it and let it go outside.

We had a fantastic message on the Holy Spirit and Baptism today. Right after this we have what they call Lonnie Lunch and this time the food that we had was brought by all the different ethical groups that go to our church and it was a wonderful lunch.  Aloonie is a name for our $1-00 coin.

Etta Sue:  I am glad that you had a good time on your trip and it was great to talk to you on the phone before you left. :)

Judy.B:  It sounds like you are very busy but still waiting for that call.  Please say hi to John and it must be a real pain regards to his log books.

Don:  Thanks for the devotional  and I did like the prayer at the end he was a wonderful writer. :)

Well must sign of for now have a wonderfull week and as I always say may the Lord give you all many opportunities to be a witness for him. :coffee:   Love in Christ    Gordon and Noreen :coffee: :cp:

Gord John is entirely on Electronic logs.  He loves this way of doing logs.  Yes it has been ver busy.

Pat how is the weather there.

Marilyn you forgot your camera?

Carol I am sorry about Don.  Can he at least listen to services on TV?

Late night tonight.  I'm off to bed.

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  I stepped next door and picked up the morning paper for my neighbor, who had the hip replacement, and it was very pleasant outside.  Yesterday after church I thought I would melt in the car until the car cooled down.  Obviously, I didn't melt because here I am this morning.

The housekeepers and lawn people are due today.  This is also the day our house phones are to be disconnected and the new DSL line put in place.  The e-mail from AT&T said a tech would be here.  The rep on the phone said that wasn't necessary.  Sort of hope it is the tech so everything should be back up and running.  My new cell phone will then have our long standing home number on it and I will have to transfer calls that are for Pat to her cellphone.  I need a lesson on the process as it isn't clear in the manual how to do this easily.

Then today is our Monday's men's luncheon at a new buffet close by.  It is another Asian buffet, this makes the third one in our area.  At least we have choices.  This evening I have a meeting to attend.  So it is going to be a very busy day.

Judy, not sure I understand how electronic logs work but assume they measure each mile the truck is driven via GPS, is that right?

Marilyn, I knew you had grandchildren, just wasn't sure on the great grands.  Glad you are safely home.

Pat, wow, I would be lost if I left my computer and means of communication behind when I was going to be away for awhile.  Paul must have had a lot on his mind when he packed the car.  Good to hear from you even if it is at McDonald's.

Gord, hope you also have a wonderful week.  I would be interested in knowing how the Aloonie got its name for your coinage.

Carol, sorry to hear that Don hasn't been able to shake the coughing and lethargic feeling.  Hope the doctor can help.

Etta Sue, it seems the Cracker Barrel always has consistently good food.  We enjoyed our visit to one last Sunday.  Good thing we don't have one too close to us.  Just wish a Bob Evan's would be build in our area.  Glad you missed the wind storm.

Jeanne Lee

Now this is more what June is supposed to be like!   ;)  A beautiful day - sunny, warm, a little breeze.

Pat, I'm sure that's a mistake Paul won't make again!   ;D

Why is it that no bed sleeps as good as your own bed?  I rested and slept wonderful last night!!

Rehab is over for today for Ivalou and I.  Both of us have extra exercises to do.  I found out my sacrum is crooked.  It is moveable but it moves at an angle instead of straight.  Hopefully with her pushing and my exercises that will change to being correct!  I truly understand why people go to physical therapists and masseuses.  It feels soooo good and relaxing!

Then Ivalou and I had breakfast even though it was almost lunch time at Perkin's.  I, too, like Bob Evans but it was across the highway and we needed to go to the Pet Supply store and to WalMart on the same side of the highway as Perkins.  And we don't have a Cracker Barrel in Noblesville.  There is no interstates close to Noblesville and I understand that Cracker Barrel's are near interstates...in fact, the porches are to face the interstate!  Have you noticed that?

Now I am cooling off.  It is hot out there!  But I am not complaining!!!  Not after the winter we had!!

And I don't want to forget to go to Church Council meeting tonight at 7pm!  I forgot last month!  Me?

Air is not clear as we have smoke all the way from Arizona here as well as several fires in south of this state plus over in New Mexico.  No wonder, I sneeze and have allergies now.

Don had his blood test this morning & has an appt. next Monday.  There are three or more major prayers going on in our family right now and I am sleeping well, for a change.

JudyB:  Don's hearing problem is different than normal - he hears things distorted.  An ear piece hooked right to a microphone helps greatly and so do T.V. ears.  Otherwise, I have to go up close - about three feet in front and speak to him - you would think I would be so skinny from this but all that walking just makes me sleepy.   ;)  We really are grateful that all of his hearing didn't disappear.  When others speak, I am the interpreter and make no apologies.

Pat:  We make long lists of what to bring and still forget something vital.

Gord:  Your Loonie is a beautiful coin.  It is the Minnesota state bird and we just love loons.

Is there any news about Wanda?  I believe that is Pat and Judy's relative - how is she faring?

We listened to Huckabee last night and he interviewed Tim Tebow (new Bronco quarterback) - who talked mainly about his FAITH.  Isn't that interesting?  What a super young man and we hope he does well in the football game.  He could inspire so many young people.  He does already.

Marilyn

Judy I  didn't forget my camera I just didn't take any pictures, I an  take pictures with my phone too but I didn't.

Here is what our weekend was like. We went to Portland for the weekend to see Keith's kids, we stayed at the oldest son's house, he is the doctor and his wife is pregnant. so I bought the yarn to make the baby afghan for her. She isn't due until Dec. 2nd.

We had a very nice time there so relaxing and plenty of fun. Keith mowed the lawns for them on Saturday and I went  grocery shopping with Stephanie and it is a good thing I did, she almost passed out in the store. She made some awesome Taco soup for supper on Saturday night. On Friday night Corey, the youngest son, brought over two pizzas when he got off work. He works for Papa Murphy's pizza, it is a take and bake place, Kyle the middle son also came over and we all watched a movie.

Saturday night Kyle came over after supper and we all watched another movie together, Keith and I  played pool some before supper. Keith cooked breakfast on Sunday morning, he made omelet, Craig had cooked on Saturday morning.

We left there about 12:30 yesterday and got home about 4:30, unloaded the Corvette, then washed it, bot oh boy the cats were sure glad to see us. Grubby came running out of the bushes when he heard the car pull into the driveway.
That's all folks.

Ruth Ann Bice

Hi, friends, I'm preparing to listen to my Bible study, and then will begin listening to Elizabeth Edwards' book. That precious lady certainly endured a lot, didn't she.

Today I took someone for eye surgery, then lunch, then to do a bit of shopping, so was really tired when we came back to the apartments at about 4 pm. That little hour and a half nap certainly helped a lot!!  ^-^

Don, thanks for the devotional.

I can only imagine how difficult it is for Paul without his computers! I "go into withdrawal" when in Atlanta for much the same reason.

Oh, by the way, my Atlanta family finally got on Skype, and we had a great little conversation Sunday afternoon - my little granddaughter was Sooooooo pleased to see Grandma, but insisted I had to come there in person right away. :)

It's good that you were with your daughter in law, Marilyn.

Y'all have a good rest of the day.

Ruth Ann
...his compassions fail not.  They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  Going to be another hot day in Atlanta with another smog alert.  Yesterday was a very busy, but nice day.  We didn't get the phones or Internet switched over but they did call and said it would be by this evening.  So time will tell.

We enjoyed the new Atlantic Buffet our men's luncheon group went to yesterday.  It is a very pleasant atmosphere and their was a wide variety of food from American to Asian.  They also had a big ice cream cooler with about 8 different flavors of ice cream in the big tubs like the ice cream store has.  Now that is a winner.  :

I will have a much quieter day today as expended a lot of energy yesterday.  I do have one thing this morning after coffee and then will enjoy a quiet day (hopefully).

Etta Sue, that is an interesting fact concerning the Crackle Barrel porches.  Glad your therapy is helping.

Carol, Don's hearing is an example of what is being what it is and making the most of the situation.  Glad there are some tools, like the T.V. ears that are of assistance.  My best friend and his wife both wear special headphones to watch TV.  We have the TV ears but seldom use them.  Do you have the little kit to help replace the ear pads?  One of the pads has come off ours and I keep trying to get it to stay on without much success.  I hadn't thought about the Loonie being the bird.  It makes sense now.  Tim Tebow is indeed a unique individual and I hope the fame and fortune do not change him.  Do you think they are going to be able to get their act together so that there is a pro football season this year?

Marilyn, sounds like you have a great weekend.  Nice to be able to spend time with our children.  What type of doctor is Keith's son?

Ruth Ann, doesn't it do your heart good to hear the little voice pleading with you to come and see her.  Glad you are able to enjoy Skype.

Hope this is a nice day for you all.

Carol

Larry:  Don does have the little packet that came with the t.v. ears & it has instructions to put the earpiece on a hard surface and then push the little foam piece into it until it clicks.  It isn't easy.  We need to have some winning teams in all of our sports out here.

This morning, Don had to climb our tall ladder and on the pitched living room ceiling pull out the chirping batteries for a smoke alarm.  We did not put back new batteries because there are three other smoke alarms in the house and I do not want him to climb that high again.  Not at all.

A quilting friend stopped by to help me with a new quilt problem - it is figured out correctly now.  We have a neighborhood coffee tomorrow morning for a new neighbor recently widowed.  Then, the afternoon is our Needle Arts group .  Busy chatting away tomorrow.

Etta Sue

We are having an Air Quality Warning today.  Not suppose to drive your vehicles unless necessary.  Suppose to car pool.  Not suppose to gas up your vehicles.  Not suppose to mow your lawns.  All of this is okay after 6pm.  But it is so hot after 6pm, I mowed this morning anyway.  I was going to drive and go swimming but decided to stay home.  I guess I am only half bad!

Now I am all showered and doing some laundry.  Plan to stay in the rest of the day and relax!

Yard looks good, too!

Larry, Craig is an internist.  He was telling us that  the new studies are  saying that Fish oil is no longer a recommended supplement for humans but it is recommended for  Animals. The vet  told me to give Happy and Bebe fish oil capsules. So I have been doing that for a few months now. He also said that  some of the older doctors still recommend things that the newer studies have shown that some supplements are no longer recommended. Fish Oil, CoQ10, Vitamin D.etc.

Today I am being a slug. I did enough work yesterday to last me for a week. However I am going to start my Pepper Jelly today.

Not much else is new here. I have been doing something in Photoshop this morning for one of my groups.

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone from a hot and dry Atlanta.

Just the usual today with coffee at McDonald's, Bible study and then choir tonight.  I may go to Kohl's after Bible study rather than Dunkin' Donuts to see about getting a couple of new clothing items.  I just need some new slacks.  Pat keeps after me to get some new clothes.

Carol, I agree with you on those high smoke detectors.  All of our windows in our house are very low to the ground and could easily open one in any room and be able to get out of the house.  We do have several smoke detectors that are battery operated.  I can change them by standing on the kitchen stool that has a handle.

Etta Sue, the Atlanta area has been under a smog alert air quality warning for several days and sure it will be again.

Marilyn, over the last five or ten years how many things that we were told we should or shouldn't do have not be refuted.  I remember when we weren't suppose to eat eggs.  I haven't taken vitamins for several years and recently stopped taking the niacin as my new heart doctor told me there is no proof it does anything for the heart.  Interesting to think of how much money some of us have wasted on these things.  Thanks for the info on Keith's son.

I figure I've managed to reach this age in relatively good health without worrying about the "eat - don't eat" warnings, so I just muddle along the way I always have.   ;)

There's a possibility we'll break the record high temperature today.  In one week we've gone from 10 degrees below normal to 15 degrees above normal.

I have been taking 4 fish oil gelcaps a day for years.  I was taking Calcium with Vitamin D but since my calcium level was high the last time, she said to get Vitamin D and take it alone.  Hmmmm!  And those aren't covered by medical plans!!

Today is rehab for Ivalou and I.  I do believe my back is better and stronger.  At least, I can stand now and not have to find a chair to sit down as quick as I did!

Another advisory day today.  I wonder how many people really think to do anything they suggest to do?

Suppose to get to 96 degrees.  The record high for June 8 was 96 degrees back in 1983!!

A farmer worked in Ivalou's field west of me last evening.  It looks nice.  Hope he planted beans...it was corn last year!

Etta Sue Pat left you a message on FB.

We have an addition to the family.  The beautiful white cat that we had, adopted Kassie. The person we got her from insisted on taking her back.  As a result we have a new addition to the family.  A little 3 month old grey kitten.  Cimi is the ond who seems to be "training" her at this point, setting out boundaries.  The little one seems to be a quick learner.

The weather is hot, but there is a constant breeze going on here.

Later!

JudyB

We've had a thunderstorm since I was on and I am listening to the thunder circling again tonight.  The mosquito's are terrible too.

Kass has had another shift added to her schedule at work, she is now on Monday and Wednesday.  She seems to enjoy the job, but I'm not sure if it is the job or the pay on Wednesdays.

Better shut down the thunder seems to be getting closer!

Ruth Ann Bice

Judy, I read the other day that if people take vitamin b, it seems to make them "distasteful" to the mosquitos! Hmmmmmmmm.

Yes, we've had some air quality alerts here, too, Etta Sue. And, the weather forecaster said that our first 6 days of June are the hottest since 1899. Today was 96 - which ties the all-time record high for that day. Those poor fans at Bonnaroo and also at the Country Music fan fair must be about to melt from the heat.

I took my son to the grocery this morning, then listened to a program on Christian apologetics - quite interesting. Also had an hour's conversation with someone whose spouse is struggling with desires to hang around people who do not provide christian fellowship. We talked about Romans 12: 1 and 2. My, goodness! The Message rendering of those 2 verses is magnificent. Here it is:

1-2 So here's what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him. Don't become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You'll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you.

Wow! what good guidance for all of us.

Much love, Ruth Ann

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.

A really busy day yesterday but a good nights sleep seems to have revived me.  Today I have an appointment with the cardiologist to have my pacemaker/defibrillator checked.  I don't have many months left on this battery so they are keeping a close eye on it before having to replace it.  Then I will pick up our daughter, who lives across the street from where my medical appointment is and bring her out for an overnight visit.  It has been several weeks sine she has been out here.

The highlight of my day yesterday was being able to spend and hour and nine minutes with AT&T getting my new Internet line activated.  After about fifteen different menu selections I finally got with a human and this lady was very patient and helpful and we got the new line setup and working and she also helped me get to the people I needed to talk to about porting over our housephone number to my new cellphone.  I am suppose to be able to call after midnight tonight and get that done.  At least I have a direct number to accomplish this call rather than going through the maze of pushing buttons and never being sure which ones the the correct ones.

Jeanne, I have sort of adopted that same philosophy in terms of eating what I want to eat with moderation (usually) but do try to stay away from the fried foods.  I believe it is important to enjoy each day as we live it as none of us know what tomorrow holds while we are on this earth.  I believe we know what the ultimate future holds.

Today is our 12th day with above 90 degree temperatures and there is also the smog alert today.  It was a bit hard to breath yesterday.

Etta Sue, I do get the impression there may be quite a few people who do follow all the guidelines and don't eat certain things or do certain things.  I do think we have to think for ourselves and make our own decisions using some common sense.  Every night there is a new study out with some warning or break through.  Guess it gives the news media something else to talk about.

Ruth Ann, must admit I have never understood the term "Christian apologetics".  What are we apologizing about although I suppose it has an entirely different meaning.  I know I can look it up but will probably forget to do so.

Everybody stay cool today, at least as cool as possible.

Ruth Ann Bice

The online program I listened to, Larry, said that the term "apologetics" comes from a greek word. So, truly we're not apologizing for anything. :)

Yes, truly, none of us knows the length of our lives or even the length of our days. Therefore, we live accordingly.

Love to everyone.

Ruth Ann
...his compassions fail not.  They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.

Al Moak

Larry - Ruth Ann is correct that "apologetics" in this context does not mean we are apologetic for anything.  Christian aspologetics is that aspect of Christian teaching that deals with "proofs" of the truth of Christianity and the like.  It's the philosophical approach a Christian can use in dealing with an unbeliever, particularly in relation to the various philosophical  views held by unbelievers themselves.  It's helpful to understanding why unbelieving people believe as they do and to what we can say to them.
