JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Today is a full and busy day.  I have my hair to do and then off to the Bay to be at Kassie's Cadet Annual Inspection for 12:45.  She is leading the parade of cadets, and we are proud parents!.  After this we will have a couple of hours to relax and the CO's Dinner starts at 5:00pm.  This is a late do, as at the end the cadets get their promotions and awards for their service.  Kass will pass the level 4 that she has worked on, unfortunately the level didn't co operate with her and get the results in for  the last ops order, and she won't get the promotion to Flight Sargent.  She had her portion done but there were 3 others that should have finished their work and got it to her.  A lesson for her, and for them.

Got to run and start getting ready.

What a fun day yesterday!  I called Kitty to see if she wanted to go out and about!  Sure.  So I had a Pizza King pizza and went to her house.  She was ready early since Bob got Subway's for their lunch and she didn't have to cook and clean up.  Kitty is going to exhibit photos at the Anderson/Madison County Visitors Center in October.  So she thought...October?  Halloween?  Spooky?  Cemeteries!  She found a list on the internet of old cemeteries in Madison County and is visiting them and taking photos of unusual tombstones.  So we visited 6 cemeteries yesterday.  She got lots of photos.

Then I went out to eat with Bob and Kitty to O'Charley's.  I was home before real dark.  Fun day learning my Tomtom.  I really like it.  It is simple to use!  And fast!

This evening is the 2010 Commencement in Lapel.  The Class of 1960 is to be there at 5:30pm for cake and punch.  We are to sit behind the Class of 2010.  When our name is called we are to stand.  Hope that is all!  Then it is all over until another 50 years!

It looks rainy today.  I think it has sprinkled.  Cooler out today.

Hope Ivalou comes home today!  I miss her!

Hi everyone.  It is warming up here in Georgia but that is to be expected.  Happy to be able to say I am feeling like my old self today after a long night of sleeping.  I guess I just overdid trying to walk around in the hugh Wal-Mart.  I think I am going to have to revert back to using the electric carts when I go there or other large box stores.

I had a nice morning and this evening we are invited to a retirement party for a teacher we know.  She has been counting the days and is now retired.  Unfortunately, she fell last week and strained a ligament in her leg and has her leg in a cast.  She said it looked worse than it is.  The party is at her house and we felt honored to be invited to help her celebrate.

Have had lunch so now it is time for a rest period so I will have the energy for this evening.

JudyB

Woohoo We are back from Annual and the CO's  dinner.  What an exciting night.  Kass Was amazing as she led the flights in.  You could hear her all the way across the parade square.  Bear in mind this is a regulation hockey rink!  She fell in behind her flight, and kept control.

Then at dinner she received her level 4 badge for completing the level, 3 years perfect attendance, and the big surprise of the night she received the rank promotion.   Kassie is now Flight Sargent Boneschansker!!!  No one expected that.  The next promotion she can get is Warrant Officer 2nd class.  That will take time. It is not automatic.

This has been a long day, and an even longer night.  I am glad it is over.

Night all and God Bless
Judy

Well, it is all over but the shouting.  I have figured that with the three get-togethers with the Class of 1960...Cornerstone Inn in Nashville, Lapel Lions Club and the Lapel Commencement, that we have seen 32 out of 46 living classmates.  That's pretty good.  And six of the missing live within 10 miles of Lapel!

Now to get back to a normal life...whatever normal is.

Ivalou got back home just before I left for the Commencement.  She isn't going to church today but after Sunday School we are going somewhere to eat.  I missed her so much!

Hi everyone.  Another beautiful and sunny morning but rain is expected late this afternoon or evening as the weather changes and the wind comes up.  We don't get much wind here in Georgia so it is quite noticeable.  That is one of the things I really enjoy about Georgia after having grown up in the midwest and lived for a couple of years in Oklahoma many years ago where the wind always seemed to be blowing.

We had a very nice time last night at the retirement part of a teach friend.  She has taught for 35 years and now is looking foward to doing a lot of traveling and other things on her "bucket" list.  She has a lovely home and everyone had a nice time, a great dinner and we didn't stay out too late.  That seems to be one of the benefit of having friends who are a bit older.

In about an hour it will be time to leave for church.  Today is Communion Suday so the service will likely be a little longer.  I am not sure whether Pat will want to go out to eat or not.  She is trying to eliminate certain things from her diet and it is hard when you eat out.

Judy, it sounds like you had a wonderful and surprising evening when Kass was promoted and that had not been expected.

Hope everyone has a nice Sunday.

Never disappointed

Every day I call to you, my God, but, you do not answer. Every night you hear my voice, but I find no relief. Yet you are holy. The praises of Israel surround your throne. Our ancestors trusted in you, and you rescued them. You heard their cries for help and saved them. They put their trust in you and were never disappointed.

Psalm 22:2-5 NLT

The fugitive translator

William Tyndale was born about 1494 and educated first at Oxford, where he was ordained into the priesthood, then at Cambridge, where he joined the Reformation. He became convinced that England would never be evangelized using Latin Bibles. Tyndale's efforts to get permission to translate the Bible into English were unsuccessful, so he left England.

His first English New Testament was printed in Germany in 1525. As Tyndale's English Bibles were smuggled into England, the archbishop of Canterbury and the bishop of London began attacking him fiercely. On June 18, 1528 Thomas Wolsey, the English cardinal, ordered Tyndale's arrest and extradition to England. It took seven years to track him down, then spent eighteen months in a cold castle dungeon.

Tyndale, in his early forties, was found guilty and condemned to death as a heretic. Referring to the king's opposition to his English Bible, Tyndale said, "Lord, open the king of England's eyes."

The year that Tyndale died, there were two English Bibles containing his translation of the New Testament. When presented to Henry VIII, the king, not realizing it contained Tyndale's work, proclaimed, "In God's name let it go abroad among the people."

Tyndale's Bible translations were his lasting legacy. They were so well done that they made up 90 percent of the wording of the King James Version published nearly one hundred years later.

Judy, what a wonderful surprise for Kassie, to be promoted when she didn't expect it!  How proud you and John must be of that wonderful young lady.  Do tell her congratulations from me all of us!

Hello, everyone.  I have been having a very frustrating few days.  Now am resigned to let all my plans go by the wayside, because Darrel must come first (and I want him to, of course.)  After months of fighting the recurring infection with rounds of IV antibiotics, the doctor in Elkhart still didn't get his surgery scheduled, so I told them we will go to Amarillo.  He has an appointment for 2:30 tomorrow, but we don't know how soon the surgery can be scheduled.  So I will be missing my yearly painting class again this year (Missed it last year to be with Beth during her ordeal.)  Anyway, prayers for Darrel will be much appreciated.  His primary doctor says this is approaching emergency state now.

Then our family reunion is near Emporia next weekend.  So will we be able to go?  Dont know.  Then, we are scheduled to leave for Cozumel, Mexico on June 16 for a dive trip with Diane, Jeff, Mark and Abby.  Will he be able to go on that?  Again, don't know.  Sigh.........why does everything happen at once?

Also, something is wrong with my teeth or my jaw, constant pain, no time to consult a dentist or doctor before we go to Amarillo, so I will likely be living on pain killers for a while.  I dislike that enormously.

Okay, enough of that!  We have a lovely day with not much wind so far.  God's in His heaven.........

Judy, congrats to Kass.  I had never heard of the Cadets before you started posting about it.  Some schools do have Jr. ROTC, that may be similar.

Grandson Mark came yesterday to give me an early birthday gift.  It is a beautiful hand-painted cannister of tea.  He stayed to help me with some much needed stuff on computer.  Love those grands!

We went to church and now Darrel has some lunch ready, so I will go eat some.  I know I will pay for it with more pain in my jaw, but I'm hungry.  :(

Great service this morning and Don used the aides they have bought that tie right into the microphone - thank the Lord, he heard every word.  He sang along with several songs as well.  What a gift today has been.

I have two salads for family BBQ later this afternoon.  One is seafood that I bought at a store and have extended it with pasta and more seasoning  plus a large bag of frozen shrimp. The other is watermelon and it wasn't tasty enough so I poured a sweet syrup over all and added cinnamon and will cut up banana and put in there as well - now it is better.  It is too soon for watermelon anyway but this is turning out well.

Judy:  Wonderful accomplishment for Kassie.

Janet:  The only good thing about our wild winds is that it does clear the air.  I used to like Seattle for the fresh air cleansed by rain but now there are too many people living in that crowded area so it just isn't as clean.  Will pray for Darrel.  I don't know why everything happens at the same time but life just isn't fair.

Joyce:  Will go to Manna - thanks.

This is for those of us who are struggling today.

Leaning on the Everlasting Arms
(Click to hear music)

"He was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, 'Lord, save me!' Immediately Jesus reached out His hand and caught him. 'You of little faith,' He said, 'why did you doubt?'" Matthew 14:29-31

Words: Elisha A. Hoffman, in The Glad Evangel for Revival, Camp, and Evangelistic Meetings (Dalton, Georgia: A. J. Showalter & Company, 1887).
Music: Anthony J. Showalter--Showalter wrote this tune and words to the refrain after hearing from two friends whose wives had died, and asked Hoffman to write the remaining lyrics.

What a fellowship, what a joy divine,
Leaning on the everlasting arms;
What a blessedness, what a peace is mine,
Leaning on the everlasting arms.

Refrain

Leaning, leaning, safe and secure from all alarms;
Leaning, leaning, leaning on the everlasting arms.

O how sweet to walk in this pilgrim way,
Leaning on the everlasting arms;
O how bright the path grows from day to day,
Leaning on the everlasting arms.

Refrain

What have I to dread, what have I to fear,
Leaning on the everlasting arms;
I have blessed peace with my Lord so near,
Leaning on the everlasting arms.

Refrain

Gord Brown

:)Hi to all and it is very late so I will be very short.

Judy B.  Mr. Ted Riseborough I thought was a clerk in the offices and not a bus driver but he would have known your Dad and I remember when Ted started doing those fantastic drawings.  Can you get me his phone # or an email address thanks.  Gord.

Good morning to all at C.P. and good day to all and have a wonderful week.

This week's promise: God's timing is perfect
Watch the Lord rescue you

The Lord continued to strengthen Pharaoh's resolve, and he chased after the people of Israel who had escaped so defiantely. All the forces of Pharaoh's army—all his horses, chariots, and charioteers—were used in the chase....

As Pharaoh and his army approached, the people of Israel could see them in the distance, marching toward them. The people began to panic, and they cried out to the Lord for help.

Then they turned against Moses and complained, "Why did you bring us out here to die in the wilderness? Weren't there enough graves for us in Egypt? Why did you make us leave? Didn't we tell you to leave us alone while we were still in Egypt? Our Egyptian slavery was better than dying out here in the wilderness!"

But Moses told the people, "Don't be afraid. Just stand where you are and watch the Lord rescue you. The Egyptians that you see today will never be seen again. The Lord himself will fight for you. You won't have to lift a finger in your defense!"

Exodus 14:8-14 NLT

Bearing down

Whatever your worries are today, they probably do not top the 600 Egyptian war chariots bearing down on the children of Israel! Trapped between the mountains and the sea, the people forgot the God who had delivered them from the Pharaoh's hand, and they cried out in despair. But Moses, who focused on the promise of God, stood firm in his hope. When we face our "chariots," it is quite normal to feel anxiety and fear. But when we remember God's faithfulness and his ability to bring good out of any situation, we find our fears calmed and our confidence renewed.

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  It is a bright, clear, sunny day and not too hot yet.  Just back from coffee.  We couldn't walk at the gym because they are starting the summer camp program they run and the place is overrun with little children.  It is too hot to walk outside.  Of course, we could go and walk in the afternoon but probably won't happen.  Today is my men's luncheon and we are going to a local place that is a cafe and bakery called Sweet Aroma.  We have eaten there before and it was very good.  They make some really good bakery products.

Janet, so sorry to hear of your teeth or jaw problems on top of the difficulty Darrel is experiencing.  I know you will miss your painting class but hopefully will be able to go to it next year, which will be here before you know it.

Carol, it is nice that your church is able to provide a way for those hard of hearing to actually hear the service.  I think similar aids are available for hearing TV and cell phones.  However, I have no direct knowledge in that area.
