Morning Devotional...

The Holy Spirit:
The Daunting Task

For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek. --Romans 1:16

The greatest event in history was the coming of Jesus Christ into the world to live and to die for mankind. The next greatest event was the going forth of the Church to embody the life of Christ and to spread the knowledge of His salvation throughout the earth.

It was not an easy task which the Church faced when she came down from that upper room.... Left to herself the Church must have perished as a thousand abortive sects had done before her, and have left nothing for a future generation to remember.

That the Church did not so perish was due entirely to the miraculous element within her. That element was supplied by the Holy Spirit who came at Pentecost to empower her for her task. For the Church was not an organization merely, not a movement, but a walking incarnation of spiritual energy. And she accomplished within a few brief years such prodigies of moral conquest as to leave us wholly without an explanation--apart from God.
Dr. Tozer in Paths to Power, 7-8.

"We continue to need that power, Lord, or we still are hopelessly incapable of the task You've left us. Empower us for our work, Holy Spirit, even as You empowered the early church. Amen."

Good afternoon!  It sure has been a Monday.  Some days are just like that.  Fortunately, my little tornado has settled down for a nap, so the house is fairly peaceful right now.  Her brother is playing quietly by himself, and I'm getting ready to do a "clean up" as fast as possible.  I have to do it before she gets up.  Otherwise, she is making a mess in one area while I'm cleaning another!  :)

I hope everyone had a good weekend.  Ours was very peaceful.  We didn't go anywhere except Trav's basketball game and church.  I like those.

Have a great day, and take care everyone.

Gratitude for the fact that our two youngest sons were slightly injured when a heavy television sitting high on a shelf fell on them and bumped their heads & hands - there is a huge dent in the floor and they have bumps on their heads with hand bruises.  They are so careful, it truly was an accident and we are grateful they are alright.  The old t.v. still works but the casing now is cracked.

Ruth:  What did you sew?  I have a little quilt to cut out and there will be circles of fabric sewn on top of the strips - this is something new to me.  I am afraid to start.

Karmat:  Some day, you might try the bribery, oops, rewards method for cleaning up - when the little tornado slows down for a minute.  LOL - Love the stories.

Don is having a new windshield installed - and I have been trying to call two friends long distance.  Doesn't anyone stay home anymore?   :)

I, too, have been trying to get on CP all day.  Finally made it.

I did some laundry today and put things away in anticipation of Euchre Club coming here next week.  Decluttering...

Kitty called me and asked if she could come and bring four prints and help her choose which one to enter in a photo contest.  I am partial to lighter subjects so wouldn't you know, I chose the original photo.  Kitty is a great photographer.  I wish I had her talent!

Now it is time to watch some TV.

Oh, yeah.  After I read about me saying I was asleep when I could see lights at Ivalou's house.....meaning...I didn't wake up until after daylight and I can't see lights on at her house in the daylight.  Am I digging a deeper hole?

@_@_@_@_@_@_@_@_@_@_@_@_@_@_@

Janet

Liz, as to the robot for president, I would say--depends on who programmed it!

Karma, that little tornado sure keeps you whirling, doesn't she?  How well I remember those days.  They will pass all too quickly, I promise you.

Carol, thank God your sons' injuries were slight.  Their angels were on the job!

Marilyn, Michael is a nice looking man, and I pray his "inside" is even nicer!

We are having one of those unbelievably beautiful days here today.  I need to get out and do some walking.

Beth signed those papers today which authorize the donation of her body after death for medical research.  Sad, but yet happy--she said that is the only thing she has to give that may help others.  I'm proud of her for that decision, and will honor her request.

I do NOT like these time changes.  Takes me longer each time to adjust. (grumble, grumble. :(

Are you thinking about BOOTS?

Yes, deeper, Etta Sue!  ;)  Oh!  I think I've got it now--you were asleep when you could HAVE seen lights on at Ivalou's, right?

We enjoyed our little g-g-daughter a lot.  She's a very happy baby, will be six months old this month.  She's sitting up, cooing, giggling, very responsive.  Babies are so special.

My sister Shirley has just written two children's books.  I received copies today, and they are just lovely--she did a great job.  Now she is taking a class and learning how to promote and publish her books.  Not bad for an almost 71 year old, huh?

Hi everyone.  This has been a beautiful but very busy day.  After coffee I went to walk at the gym with my friends and then took my laptop in for repair.  I came home and have been working the rest of the day in working on the applications for the Senior Golden Games.  There were 109 new applications and it takes time to print out the paperwork that goes with each application.  I think I am wearing out my printer as had paper jams this afternoon, and never had that before.  I think I am finished for a day or so until they bring me what I hope will be the last of the applications as the cutoff was today.

Carol, sure glad your sons were hurt too badly.

Janet, that was a wonderful thing that Beth has done.  Glad you got to see the new great grandchild.  They are really special beings aren't they?

I am tired tonight so will be brief.

Pat

Oh, my goodness, Carol!  That's awful but so happy that your sons are alright.

Hello to everyone else.  I'm moving furniture around.

Thank you Janet, So far he has been very sweet, understanding and prayerful. So I too hope his "inside" is even nicer.

Well the rain hasn't started yet and I didn't take the dogs out for walks today because it looked as if it would rain any minute. I did go get my adjustment and feel better and looser. I was pretty tight across the shoulders my neck, and hip were out. When my hip goes out I walk funny. It seems like I hit the ground harder with my right foot

Ruth Ann Bice

Hi, friends,

I'm enjoying feeling better. What joy it was to see the sunshine. Then, when I went in the Post Office after work, they had opened up a new window, so I didn't have to wait as long as usual. That made the day extra special, too.

Y'all have a great evening.

Ruth Ann
...his compassions fail not.  They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.

Liz

Mostly rain again today.  Spring is in the air tho', so no real reason for grumbling....other than constantly having to dry my cat when she comes inside.  Have her trained to stop and wait for the towel... :)

Misty and Squeek are really scared most of the time now, what with strangers coming to work on tile, painting, etc.  Will continue for a number of weeks, so can only hope we all survive.  I am tired.  Helping with packing all the stuff upstairs, taking it into the garage to stay until the hardwood floors are done, etc.  Have to get all my things done as the pictures have to come down, china to pack, etc.  Makes me tired thinking about it....have been cooking all the meals lately, and getting rather tuckered.  Then it all has to be brought back and so much china to wash and dry by hand....anyone want to help??

Certainly glad your sons were spared serious hurt, Carol.  What a scare that must have been.

Janet, I was sort of thinking one could pull the batteries of a yappy politician, were they robotic. ;)

My granddaughter fell asleep on my sofa after dinner and Misty finally settled down and stopped looking for a place to hide.  They were both exhausted:

So am I and my daughter wants me upstairs to check on something. The only boots I own are not very interesting...perhaps I should draw a pair....

Pleasant Day/Evening and God Bless.

The AM was really nice here.  And I decided to go run the car through the wash, and then, of course, I made it rain.  Sorry, Jane. :)

I even made it out to do some cutting back on some of my herbs and plants.  The grass didn't dry, but it was nice to feel the warmth.

Today's verse is precious to me.

I'm still thinking about BOOTS.  Everyone has boots laying around.  Right? :)  Nita

edit:  Posts all around me while I was typing. lol  Liz, your granddaughter is beautiful.  So sweet laying there.  I know you must adore her.

Hi there Ruth Ann!

So nice to see you posting.  And so happy that you are feeling much better.

Carol:  I am sewing a flannel shirt for my sweetheart of almost 45 yrs. I went out today and purchased the snap buttons so there will be some hammering going on tomorrow.  This is the first one I have made in at least 5 yrs. with this one done I have material to make 2 more but they are cotton.  While at the fabric store I saw some nice quilted cotton and I think perhaps I will make a trip back to get enough for a house coat I have not had one of that type for years.

Ruth Ann:  I am glad that you are feeling better.

This is the first I have been here so I was unaware of any problems with CP

We have had a time change and so far it has not affected me but wait when I have to go back to work then I will do some complaining to be sure.

Hi everyone.  A bit overcast at the moment but suppose to get up into the 60s here again today.

Pat, we have flowers blooming and trees starting to bud.  I noticed the forsythia bushes are blooming in their brillant yellow color.

I went to bed early last night as had really worn myself out with all the work involved in processing the 109 applications for the Senior Golden Games.  Fortunately, don't have too much on the schedule today other than a meeting to attend this morning and then will meet with a fellow from our church who is going to become webmaster.  He is coming here this evening so I can show much what to do and how to do it.  I need to prepare some pointers and have a plan before he gets here.

Nita, you commented that everyone had boots but as I think about it I no longer have any boots as really don't need them here in Georgia.  If boots were needed here I would stay inside.

Liz, great picture.  I sure don't envy you and your family with all the turmoil of the updating but sure it will be lovely when completed.

Ruth Ann, glad that you are feeling better.

Hope everyone has a very nice day.

Marilyn

  Al you are too funny

Good Morning  everyone. Fog today. Well that's the weather report from me. Not much else new this morning.

It isn't raining I will take the dogs out for walks regardless of what it LOOKS like.

I know some of you have seen some posts I left on SN about Michael. Yes it is true, He wants to get married when he gets back from his trip to Africa,  currently  he may be back the end of this month  if nothing  happens to keep him there longer. God is in control. Bebe is good judge of character too so I will see what her reaction is to him.

Tonight is our annual Church business meeting. I hope it doesn't run as long as it did last year.

Well it is about time for me to get set to leave for work.

Well, kind of quick Marilyn, I'd say.

I've seen the posts on SeniorNet and yes, I've been astounded while reading them but just started to pray harder for you both.

Here are some of my loving thoughts on this matter from a fellow Christian and sister in the Lord...

I think you need to see him in your surroundings for awhile and then you need to go and see what he's like in his surroundings in his home town before any decisions for the future are even spoken about.

Now, this may sound very, very strange indeed but it's very important to consider...  You also have to find out if you are "Number 2" in his life and see if he's "Number 2" in yours.  For me, the most wonderful sentence that I heard from his lips was that I was "Number 2" and that meant that our Saviour was "Number 1".  We can say that so easily but do we really mean it?

My friend and I never made our minds up about marriage until I travelled to Virginia to meet his family and he travelled up here to meet mine and not just once, but more than once.  It's been difficult too as we wanted everything we did to be honouring and pleasing to our Saviour and we made sure that our relationship left nothing for others to wonder about.  I had a place down in Virginia to stay in and he has a friend's apartment up here to stay in while here.  We take the verse in the scripture to be very serious indeed where it says to "Abstain from all appearance of evil."  That verse doesn't say to "abstain from evil" but to "abstain from the appearance" and that's what the world might see.  So, second marriages are sometimes very difficult indeed.  At least with my first, I had my parents around at all times and they kept me straight! ;)   :clobber: :D

We both know that the scripture says that marriage is "until death" and not something that we'll ever leave so this has been a very serious decision for both of us.  And because there are children involved on both sides, we must be sure that our children are happy with this union.

I wanted him to attend my church with me where I feel comfortable and where I know that the Word of God is preached in its entirety and I wanted to attend his church with him to see what his church was like.

Only then, could I say, "Yes".  And only then did he ask me to marry him.

These are only my thoughts on this matter and are only make out of a loving heart for a fellow sister in the Lord.  And I certainly would only make this decision after much, much prayer and supplication before the Throne of God--alone in your "closet" and he in his and then both of you together.

Marilyn ~ I know you are anxious for marriage but please think this through thoroughly.  'Till death do you part' is a very long time, we hope.  You can say, 'Yes' but then both of you sample each others world.  And definitely put God first in all your decisions.  You must have some hesitance since you are hoping Bebe will judge his character!

As for boots....I don't think I have a pair of boots in this house!

Sunshine this morning....in between showers.  No sign of the painters and everything is on 'wait' at the moment.  So I am going to wash and vac. floors.  This is a well established and highly rec. painter, so he will appear.  Time for that dreaded word, patience, again! :)

I agree with Pat and Etta Sue.  Especially:

Quote"Abstain from all appearance of evil."

The world loves to point a finger at Christians.  Pat and I think alike about Christian values and living by them.  God doesn't make mistakes, but we can and do.  So know that you are cared about and loved here on CP, Marilyn, and everyone wants the very best for your life.

Pleasant Day/Evening and God Bless.

Liz
CHANGE NOT THY FAITH WITH CHANGING TIMES

Marilyn

Well I thank you very much Pat. You brought up all the things that Michael and I have discussed.  From the very beginning I wanted it made known that Jesus is my Number 1 priority and that  Jesus HAD to be  Number 1 in his life as well. I don't want to be anyone's Number 1. When he comes here it is not just to meet me but to meet the family and my church family, also to attend church with me. I have also informed him that there will be no staying at my house and no sleeping together outside of marriage. Both of us have been doing a lot of praying and soul searching , we feel like God is the one who brought us together even though we have not met in person. God doesn't make mistakes but that doesn't mean that we don't make mistakes. Michael and I just want to let God lead the way in His time not ours. God is in Control and God is good all the time. I also made it quite clear that prayer is a big part of my life and  I expect it to be a big part of his as well.

As far as Bebe is concerned, she does not take well to strangers, people have to let her come to them first. He is going to have to tolerate my babies and love them too.. He has an older German Shepherd (14). I threw that in my earlier post sort of offhanded.  Guess I should have left that out.

Me too, Marilyn. :)  I think it would be so wonderful for you to find real love, Godly love in a new husband.  I don't want you to be hurt.  If Michael is the one God has for you, nothing will stand in your way.  If not, I'm praying that you see the truth right away and count your blessings for the ability to get out before having
committed your life to this man.  He could be a wonderful Christian man, able to have a loving relationship with a wife.  I sure don't know.  I just know to be very careful.  And you will. :)  Nita

Colin, ask away, we can still offer you advice!   Say, do you have an Easter poem that I could read at the Care Home Good Friday service?  I've been asked to read a poem, and I would really like it, if it could be one of yours.  Thanks.

I worked today, after getting maybe 2 hours' sleep last night, so am tried.  I was head cook again today, and I made some AWESOME bread!  ;)  I brought one roll home for Darrel, now he says I have no excuse not to make bread more often! ^-^

Another lovely day today, and I do need to go walk.  Darrel is going to a Scout meeting this evening, to talk to them about Scuba diving.

Ruth Ann, I do believe the timing of when the baby there received a new heart would have worked with when our little guy's heart was "harvested."  I hope that baby does well and lives a long and happy life.

I need to go make and drink a Reliv shake!

Hi everyone.  I seldom read here twice a day but decided to do so this evening.  I spent a couple of hours with the man who is replacing me as the new webmaster for our church.  I think he will do fine and he is ready to take on the challenge.  He got here at meal time and Pat had prepared for him hoping he would dine with us and he did.  He and his wife have three of the cutest little girls you could every want to see.

Marilyn, I join with the others in saying I hope you and Michael find a great compatibility and happiness.  Pat has written some very good words to ponder and it sounds like from what you have said that you both had considered these matters.  You know that we all feel a great deal of Christian love for you and so our comments are out of our concern for you.  If we didn't care we wouldn't bother.

I should be able to pickup my laptop in the morning.  It apparently was overheating because of the dust that has infiltrated it and probably a lot of cat hair from when we had Mr. Tiggers.  The technician said it had run without problem since I took it in yesterday morning and he thought that what was needed was to tear it apart and give it a good cleaning.  I could do that with my desktop but don't want to tackle that with the laptop so will pay the price to have someone do it.

It's a bit unusual for an old preacher like me, but I don't know what to say!  It's almost 10 o'clock on our eastern seaboard, and no posts yet!  Come on, now - post.

JudyB

Ok Al you convinced me....

Marilyn I join the others with a warning of caution.... Please take your time and don't rush into something that later you may regret.  Love you sis.

Pat how is the snow there any melting at all???  We got a skiff up here but believe me you  and Ruth have MUCH more than we do.

After the excitement of the night before last the dogs were quiet last night.  The night before last Gyp got out of his kennel and was frollicking around the house.  The other 2 kenneled dogs thought that wasn't fair and they barked ALL NIGHT.  Not realizing Gyp was out I kept checking the bedroom window, and saw nothing of interest.  Thinkiung there was a cat outside meowing I ignored the barking.  What a mess we woke up to....all the garbage was torn apart, and scattered through the living room and kitchen.  He stayed in the kennel last night.  I was just thankful that there were no doggie messes on the floor anywhere.

The girls are enjoying March break as am I.  What are the rest of you up to this year for March Break?

Have a great day
Love in Him JudyB

Marilyn ~ Thanks for the reassurance.  You know we love you or we wouldn't voice our concerns.  May God bless you in all you do.

Today is Red Hats Day and we are going to the Flower and Patio Show at the Indiana State Fair Grounds.  First we are going to a new Golden Corral in Noblesville and then to the Show.  Since there will only be 5 of us, I am going to drive.  Should be lots of fun.  I didn't walk my 20 minutes at home this morning...figured I will be doing that at the Show.  It is suppose to get to 52°F but it is only 33°F right now.  Bright and sunny and my solar heat is working!

You guys are a tonic! That video was taken last spring and the wheelbarrow is still full of "moul" <3. 6th. March was the anniversary of my Father's death and it is hard to believe it was just over a year ago he passed away. I miss him ever day.
Thinking about hospitals and that.....my friend Martin was in a couple of days or so as he was not too well. A nurse came round and asked him if he wanted a bed pan. My goodness.....he says....have you to do your own cooking in here as well! :uglystupid:

Our dear friend Janet is looking a poem for Easter and I have one or two which would suit so I will post them and she can choose.

COME AND SEE

Come and see what I can see
Look at three crosses if you will
Someone is dying for you and me
Between two thieves on Calvary hill

Come and see His lovely head
Crowned there with piercing thorn
Look at His blood running red
Who is He the people scorn?

Hands with nails pierced through
Fixes Him to rugged tree
And His feet nailed there too
What sight is this to come and see?

Come and hear what He cries
The words He utters with dying breath
It is finished; then closes eyes
And bows His blessed head in death

Come and see now rolled away
From empty grave the mighty stone
And in its darkness where He lay
His death shroud lying all alone

Come and see as the disciples stare
At this sight so amazing
This Man ascending in the air
Leaving us behind here gazing

Call out now His blessed name
Jesus Christ the crucified
The Son of God put to shame
It was for us He bled and died

There is life in Him; He will save
Claim Him Lord on bended knee
No hope for you beyond the grave
If this Man you will not come and see

Colin!  You've made my morning.  Your video is so neat. I didn't know you were a musician as well as a poet.  You're just all around so talented and gifted.  And besides you have a classy wheelbarrow and you're Irish.  :)  The poem is beautiful.  I'm sure Janet will find it just what she wanted.

I'm still wanting to get a small keyboard.  Something I can plug my headset into and play music in the middle of the night.  My piano is completely blocked with my granddaughter's things. (we don't have much room here)  I keep looking and thinking and thinking more.  Maybe when I get my economic stimulus portion, I'll make them happy and spend it. :)  I miss making music.

Al, you finally got everyone to posting. :)  See how influential you are.  And old is a state of mind.  You can't be old because that would make me old too.

Gotta go and hold a baby or something.  Blessings, Nita

Hi everyone.  I just finished lunch and am waiting for Pat to get back from the grocery store so I can help her unload the car and then will take a little nap.  I spent an hour or so with one of the folks from the Golden Games working on some of the applications.  I expect the final 100+ applications to be delivered to me tomorrow.  The goal is to have all the paperwork done before Monday as there is a meeting where they need to provide reports to the event managers for the various games.

Nita, I have a Yahama Electric Piano that has a lovely piano tone and a lot of other voices and it wasn't very expensive.  Unfortunately I seldom get around to playing it.  Maybe I will do so this afternoon.  I can use headphones with it and just play for my own pleasure although enjoy the music.  I have it set up on a stand but it can be set on end and the stand folded up so it would take very little room.

Colin, you are riot.  I love your little jokes.

Tonight is our anniversary dinner at our church.  It was 30 years ago this month that our congregation began in a schoolhouse.  We moved our choir practice to tomorrow night so we wouldn't have to leave the fellowship hall until the planned program is over tonight.

Liz

So many posts....goes to show the 'power' of a Baptist Preacher. ;)

Nice video, Colin.  I haven't time to watch it all at the moment...will try tonight.

We have had a lot of Celtic music on PBS lately and I love to watch.  Was especially taken with a new group, Celtic Thunder.  Wow.  They are not a christian group.  Sort of Irish Folk.  Wonderful.  So much of our music comes from the Celtic origin.  We have Will Miller of the Irish Rovers living here in the valley.  My children used to love his kid's TV program, when we lived in Calgary, and they were small.  Long time ago.....He is still very good and I wish we were free to go to his concert on the 16th.  Maybe next time....

Finally got my daughter's cat, Squeek, to relax and tolerate being down here while the painting, etc. is going on.  Walked the floor with her yest. as she was so upset.  Change is hard when we are old....

My goodness, what an interesting gov. of New York!!!  The US has more political characters than TV's Soap Operas.   ::)

Time to get back to work.  Needed a lift, so stopped in here.  Will relax with Colin's music later...

Pleasant Day/Evening and God Bless.

I am neither a poet or a musican but I do my best. Thanks for all the comments though. Liz that is tremendous that Will Millar is living in your valley. He is a native of Ballymena which is just 7 miles from where I live. I don't believe he has lost his Ballymena accent at all although he has been away all these years. It has been years since his group has been shown on TV here.

Colin:  I have copied & pasted your poem we all need to have it handy to read from time to time.

I went to the foot care clinc this morning then on to staples for a few supplies.
This has been a lovely sunny day so far but I do understand that more snow is on the way for tomorrow and yes I have an appointment that I do not want to miss.   Now I have another small sewing proj. and that is adding a few inches to one of by flat bed sheets as it needs more length to tuck in at the bottom.

Pat: I was unable to see the video but from all the comments it was enjoyable.

I know that I  have missed many names but to one and all have a great day.

Good afternoon all,

I have been reading and praying, just have not had time to post. It's been a very busy trying last 10 days with Michael in the Pediatric ICU. Finally he is now off the oxygen as well and will come home tomorrow. Everything looks great, he really is a "little soldier". He had the biggest smile when I asked him if he was ready to come home.

Also saw the knee doctor today, since everything has been tried and none of it worked  :clobber:, they have decided that I am now a candidate for knee replacement despite my "young" age :uglystupid:, well, shouldn't be so hard on them, they do have to follow protocol and such.

Colin ~ absolutely beautiful poem my friend, I loved it!  <3

Marilyn ~ all I can say is wow.

Pat ~ if I didn't say so before, Congratulations!

to all the rest I have not mentioned, know that I am praying for you all, always do even if I stay in my corner. Just wanted to share the good news about Michael and say Thank you all for your prayers. <3

May you all have a God filled and blessed rest of the day and night as well.

Thanks, Pat.  I saw that on TV and then again he was on another program.  I found it fascinating.

I want to go to a program in about 30 minutes so will keep this short.

COLIN--thanks so much for the beautiful poem!!  I have printed it out already, and will check later to see if you post the other one you mentioned.  (Maybe I can read both of them!)  And I surely enjoyed seeing and hearing you playing the accordion!!  You are just full of talents!  Poet, musician, painter, gardener---and friend.  What else?

Jeannine, so happy to hear little Michael is about to come home.  I know it's been a long, difficult time for both of you.  Good luck with that knee!

Larry, that sounds like a huge job you are doing for the Senior Games.  You are a jewel!  Always doing something for someone.

I worked again today.  Who knows, I might get to like getting up at 5 in the morning!  Working morning shift again tomorrow.

Talk more later, got to run.

Hi Don!

I pray you had a wonderful time with the Lord at Prayer Meeting.

Yes i did Pat, Thank You. Sometimes i don't really want to go, we all know where that comes from, but go anyway and i have never regretted it. It seems the times you don't want to go and go anyway those are the times you receive those special blessings. Guess that is why that old adversary is telling you to stay home to start with. He lost.

Last Sunday our pastor was really sick and should have stayed home, Yea right, Brother Jim Stay home, but was doing much better last night. THANK YOU JESUS! The only service i have known Brother Jim to miss was during Floyd when everything was flooded and we all had to stay home.

Well as i have said before daylight is burning up and i have 2300 begonia to pot so i must make haste.

Hope everyone has a blessed day.

Today is 60 Chix.  We are going to IHOP.  Then I want to go to WalMart to see how much it will cost to print some photos for a photography contest.  May print 3 or just one.  May buy ink and print two on my printer.  Then I need matte board.  And then Kitty to help me matte them and then put them in frames.  After that they are ready to take to the art gallery.  First I have to send in my entry form...needs postmarked by the 25th.  But first I have to concentrate on cleaning my house and getting ready for Euchre here the 18th.

Hi all!  Don...a man with begonias....now I know where to go to get my wheelbarrow filled with colour..eh Pat?
Etta Sue....well I am surely not an Irishman..or am I? This is so complicated. Let me see....politically I would not call myself Irish as N. Ireland belongs to Great Britian and my ancestors would come from Scotland I suppose. I have been researching the Moffett name. Moffat..Moffit...no matter what way it is spelt...we are all of the same Scottish clan. We have a town in Scotland called after us..Moffat... and David Livingstone, the great preacher/missionary, father-in-law was a Moffat. Also a certain James Moffat did his own version of the Bible which I cant get a copy of but I believe it not to be a very good anyway. I think we have been a wild clan round the border between Scotland and England and we plundered and run of with women..so Etta Sue...Marilyn...Liz..etc...look out. You have a wild Moffett in your midst! We have our own tartan and who knows..I might even be a Chieftan of the Clan! :clobber:

I think after that lovely historical sketch from our N. Irish fellow, we need to hear this tune!

I Cannot Tell
(Click to hear music]

Psalm 64:10
"The righteous shall be glad in the Lord, and shall trust in Him."

Words by W. Y. Fullerton
Tune Londonderry Air (Traditional Irish Melody)

I cannot tell why He, whom angels worship
Should set His love upon the sons of men,
Or why, as Shepherd, He should seek the wanderers
To bring them back, they know not how or when.
But this I know, that He was born of Mary
When Bethlehem's manger was His only home,
And that He lived at Nazareth and labored,
And so the Savior, Savior of the world, is come.

I cannot tell how silently He suffered
As with His peace He graced this place of tears,
Or how His heart upon the cross was broken,
The crown of pain to three and thirty years.
But this I know, He heals the broken hearted
And stays our sin and calms our lurking fear,
And lifts the burden from the heavy laden,
For yet the Savior, Savior of the world, is here.

I cannot tell how He will win the nations,
How He will claim His earthly heritage,
Or satisfy the needs and aspirations
Of east and west, of sinner and of sage.
But this I know, all flesh shall see His glory,
And He shall reap the harvest He has sown,
And some glad day His sun will shine in splendor
When He the Savior, Savior of the world, is known.

I cannot tell how all the lands shall worship
When at His bidding every storm is stilled,
Or who can say how great the jubilation
When all the hearts of men with love are filled.
But this I know, the skies will thrill with rapture,
And countless voices then will join to sing.
And earth to heaven, and heaven to earth will answer:
"At last the Savior, Savior of the world, is King!"

HE IS RISEN

Where is He who was brought in?
Carried dead from Calvary Hill
His body wrapped in death shroud
And in this tomb lay stiff and still

Three days ago His blood was spilled
Death's dark hand came to close His eyes
And in triumphant call, it is finished
A suffering Saviour bows His head and dies

Dark the tomb where He was laid
Its coldness wrapped Him there alone
And to its doorway to seal forever
They closed Him in with mighty stone

And now the question, who will answer
Where is He who quietly lay?
An angel spoke, He is risen
To let you see God rolled the stone away

For it could never seal Him in
Death could not keep Him in its hold
Why seek the living among the dead
See His death shroud lying in empty fold

Then rejoice, for He is living
Lift your hearts from deep despair
Soon the clouds of sky will welcome up
The Son of God ascending in the air

Tell to now a world of sinners
There is release from sins dark prison
Hope and life in Him simply because
Jesus Christ the Lord is risen!

Colin Moffett

I BELIEVE

The rugged cross; the iron nails
A dying Saviour; His breath exhales
For mighty King a thorny crown
And they mocked and sneered and said come down

Shaking heads; passing by
The upright wood raised to the sky
Once again the mocking crowd
Looked up at Him and called aloud

Oh Son of God you others save
Unloose yourself and escape the grave
Prove to us you did not deceive
Descend from the cross and we will believe

The blessed Saviour He really could
Have freed himself and left the wood
But I am so glad He did not leave
For He died for me I believe

But those who mocked would turn away
Believing not that awful day
He was their King upon the tree
Because He choose to stay to set others free

Him climbing down would be my loss
My hope for life descending from the cross
But He stayed for me so I could receive
Blood atonement for my sin I believe

And darkness came and extinguished light
And midday hours became as night
And Jesus cried; my God; why did you leave.
As the Father poured out wrath on His Son I believe

He could come down but He choose to stay
And grave could not hold Him where He lay
And from a risen Saviour I can receive
Heaven's eternal glory because in Him I believe

Colin Moffett

I LIVE BECAUSE HE LIVES

They came to mock; to stand and stare
To hurl abuse at Jesus there
Gathered around the cross lifted high
And on its frame watch Jesus die

They did not care upon that hill
Innocent blood upon the ground would spill
And only jeered with greater cries
Rejoice now we for Jesus dies

They laughed at Him with crown of thorn
Come down; come down they mocked with scorn
And a sword spilled blood from His precious side
And day was as night as Jesus died

They understood not why He died that day
It was to redeem and wash sins away
Thought when they laid Him in grave's cold bed
It was His end because Jesus was dead

But three days later and hope reborn
When grave lay empty on resurrection morn
What a blessed message to the world it gives
There is salvation for all because Jesus lives

How they mocked when they watched Him die
But now He lives and reigns on high
And when on the cross He hung and bled
It was for me because in sin I was dead

No hope I saw beyond the grave
Until I called on Him my soul to save
And He gave me life and the reason why
He said; who believes in me shall never die

And what befalls me in joy or sorrow
There is grace for today and forget tomorrow
For I am His and He forgives
And now I live because He lives

Colin Moffett

THE ARMS OF JESUS

Come walk with me along the way
Trace again the steps Jesus took that day
When He climbed Golgotha's hillside
And nailed to a cross with arms stretched wide

Listen again to hammer ring on nail
Can you hear a sorrowing mother wail?
As she watches every cruel blow
To a Son she cradled in her arms long ago

When once she lifted Him from manger bed
Her Son; raised up; now hung and bled
A Son like Him; there was no other
Was ever held in the arms of a mother

What manner of Man is this?
Betrayed in Gethsemane with a kiss
Now hanging in agony on centre tree
With His arms outstretched for you and me

If you have walked with me the path He trod
Stand now to gaze at the Son of God
His blessed hands with nails fixed through
Fixes His arms wide open for me and you

But then not nails; for they never could
Keep Him hanging there from that cross of wood
For if He willed, He could have come down that day
Folded His arms to chest and walked away

But love for sinners kept Him there to the grave
Now risen to Glory with strong arms to save
There is forgiveness for sin if you come by grace
To the arms of Jesus willing to embrace

Flee to the arms reaching out in love
Arms that will carry you to mansions above
Leaning on everlasting arms; trusting in His Word
Save in the arms of Jesus your Saviour and Lord

Today was so beautiful again, after I got off work, I went to the care home, which is only one block from where I work.  I took Beth a ream of paper to use in her new printer we got last week.  Anyway--I asked her if she wanted to go for a walk and get some fresh air and sunshine.  She did, so I took her out and we walked (well, she rolled  ;)) down to Park View where I work, I took her in to meet the sweet girls I work with, then we went around several blocks, looking at the new care home which is being built right behind Park View Assisted Living.  Then we spent some time in the outdoor courtyard at the Home.  Mom was also sitting out in the courtyard getting some fresh air and sunshine.  If I could have, I would have taken her with Beth and me.  I walk beside Beth's power chair, driving it with one hand, as she can barely control it anymore.

I don't work again for about two weeks, then work by myself on a weekend.  I haven't had the full responsibility before, but am sure I can handle it.  If someone has to wait a couple of minutes for his/her eggs, the world will keep on turning.  :)

Schools around here are out for Spring break until after Easter.  I'm hoping Abby will come spend some of hers with us.

See you tomorrow!

Marilyn, ditto to what everyone else has said.  I will continue to pray for you. <3

Jeanine, sorry your son didn't get to come home today, but I'm praying for both of you!

I have a small prayer request -  I have a LARGE Mountain that needs to be moved/removed from my way, so to speak.  God can and does all things, but my faith is kinda weak in this one.  He knows what I need.   Nothing health wise or anything like that.  Just life.  Thanks 8)

Been really busy working, but get on a few times a day, just to keep up.

Later y'all

I just had to post again.

After I left here, I went to my cousin's blog, and she was talking about relying on God to provide the things we need, and using people to do it. (They needed a new car, (not new, new, just new to them) and God used family to get them a car, from a dealer named Miracle Ford)  Oh, how that blessed me because I just asked y'all to pray for me!   Praise the Lord, he is soooo good!

God knows what I need, and when I'll need it.  I just gotta hang on. :dizzy:

Hi everyone from an Irish peach....well Janet says I am one....and who am I to argue with her! I have posted a little video to cheer you all up I hope and to remind you that spring and summer are just around the corner. Reading your posts and praying for you all. Take care.

Thank you, Colin, for the poems and the GodTube.  Lovely to hear Jeannine's soft voice and to see your beautiful garden.

Marilyn...Marilyn....Marilyn ~ What can I say?  I know your dreams are dashed but don't let him sweet talk you into anything until you are sure that he is what he says he is.  If he can fix it, why then did he let it get 'broken'?  Just be glad that you discovered this all now instead of after investing your heart and time further.  God Bless You, Marilyn.  You know we all love you and you are our sister.

Janet ~ It is getting warmer weather here also.  I am sure that Beth enjoyed her 'walk' outside.  So nice to get out in the fresh air and let the breeze blow through your hair!

Samatha ~ He will provide.

Jeannine ~ So sorry that Michael is still in the hospital.  But glad that he didn't get sick after he got home and had to be returned to the hospital.  Give him a hug from all of us.

Al ~ I love reading your prayers for all of us.  So touching and heartfelt.

Ruth, Pat and Jane ~ All of us women have to watch out for our 'sisters'.  I ditto your thoughts for Marilyn!

It is cloudy and rainy here today.  I might still be in bed if Ivalou hadn't called and woke me up.  But she needed to get gas for her car and go to the bank and wanted to know if I wanted to go along and split a breaded tenderloin and onion rings with her at the restaurant.  So I am pleasantly full right now.  Really good meal.  I also got some ground round at the grocery in Lapel.  Forgot to get that yesterday when I purchased all my items for Euchre next Tuesday.

Today would have been my Mother's 95th birthday.  I miss her so much but I do feel she is watching out for her children and grandchildren and greats.

Samantha, thanks for sharing that with us.

I'm still praying for you, my friend.

Marilyn, my prayers are added along with the others here. I really don't want you hurt; but, it's better to know where you're going. Love you.

Pat, enjoy your weekend with Paul. I know you're excited he's coming.

Y'all should see my cat. He's feeling especially loving, so he's on his side right in front of my golden retriever, "petting" her with his front paws. Ah, now the dog reached over and gave the kitty a big wet kiss!  ^-^

I read everything, and would like to comment more to all of you. I love you and pray with you, am concerned about you, and sure do wish we could all get together sometime.

Well, come to think of it, WE WILL, won't we!!!! See y'all in Heaven, if not sooner.  :)

I'm headed out the door to see my grandbabies. The littlest one just had her mommy call to see "when Gwanma is gonna get here."

I think I have been too trusting that seems to be the story of my life. Trusting others not to take advantage of me because I would not do that to anyone. Trusting others not to hurt me because I would not do that either. I have judged too many others by my own characteristics and not looked deeper into theirs. I will just let things ride for now and see what happens but I am very skeptical that it will work out in his favor. Slow and slower are the key words  for me. Don't put my trust is anyone but God. Now back to my little corner for the time being. I just came out to let you know I am here reading all your kind thoughts and prayers, Thank you so much for {{{{hugs}}}

Hi everyone.  This has been a very busy day and so I will be brief tonight.  I spent several hours working on the Golden Games paperwork and meeting with one of the persons involved in running the games.  I also went to morning coffee, walked laps at the church gym, attended two SeniorNet meetings and am now sitting in my easychair trying to catch up on my Internet reading, including CP.

Marilyn, I join with the others regarding your situation.  I am sorry it has not worked out as you had hoped but very thankful you have not been hurt anymore than you have.

Jeannine, so sorry to read that you son wasn't able to come home as you had hoped.

Janet, hope Abby is able to spend sometime with you during her holiday.  It was nice that you could take Beth to where you are working.  Are all of these facilities you mentioned owned by the same company?

Etta Sue, it rained here today also and think we are to have more tomorrow.

Our daughter is coming to visit for the weekend and we will pick her up at the subway station in the morning.

Janet

Larry, yes, the facilities are owned by US--that is, the county.  Paid for with our taxes, maintained and staffed the same way.  So there is local control, which is a good thing, I think.  Please don't work too hard on the Senior games stuff.

Colin and Jeannine--I enjoyed the music, the poetry, the reading and the beautiful garden.  Thanks!  :)

Ruth Ann, have a great trip and a sweet visit with those grand youngins'.  <3

Etta Sue, so nice you and Ivalou always have a special sister to go places and do things with.  What a blessing!

I had a long list of stuff I wanted to do today, and then Beth called--"Mom, are you busy today?"  Well, yes, but she said the home couldn't take her to her chiropractor appointment, so I did, and that involved an hour and a half of waiting.  Sigh....so most of my list is still undone.

Hello to the rest of you I didn't address.  Hope everyone is doing great.

Pat ~ You and Paul enjoy each other this weekend.  Hope he gets there before bad weather.  Maybe he will get snowed in in Guelph!   ;)

Well, I got my Federal tax return yesterday  <3  so when I woke up this morning...8:15am...I called Ivalou and told her I was going to the bank and if she wanted to go with me, we could have breakfast at Woody's.  So 20 minutes later we were on our way.  That's what I like about Ivalou...she seldom says 'no' when asked to go with me and I seldom tell her 'no'.  And it is so funny.  We both looked at the menu and when the waitress came, Ivalou said, 'I'll take the ½ order of biscuits and gravy, the Fried potatoes and black coffee.'  I laughed and said, 'We do this all the time.  I want the same thing.'  I generally say has browns but decided I wanted Fried potatoes this morning.  I am so glad that I have my bestest friend AND my sister living next door!!

When I get caught up, I plan to clean house to get ready for Euchre Tuesday.  While at the Flower and Patio Show, Ivalou and I bought 6 Ultimate Cloths and split them.  They are made with MiraFiber and cleans with just water.  You wet it, wring it out and wipe away.  Walk away and no streaks.  They can be used on any surface.  I have already used one on my stove top, oven door, windows, mirrors and other things.  Amazing.  Almost fun to clean now!!

It is chilly today and was really foggy earlier.  Now it is cloudy and misting rain.

Hi Colin...  Refresh my memory about the Minister, etc?

Etta Sue, he'll be here about 10 days so I'm sure that there will be some bad weather during that time.  We're to get snow on Tuesday again!!!

Hi, there,

I'm not in northern Atlanta area, but in the western suburbs with the children. Yes, the granddaughters gave me lots of hugs and closeness last night.

When I parked in their driveway, I saw lightning flashes and commented a storm seemed to be brewing.

As it turns out, we had a really hard thunderstorm and lots of blowing winds here, but of course, downtown Atlanta was hit with an F2 tornado with lots of damage, even to a very old historic area.

So, I'm grateful we were safe. Hope Larry is safe, too.

Y'all have a good rest of the day.

I'm just home from our annual Health Fair.  I left about 8 this morning, got my blood drawn, ate a muffin and orange juice (provided by the hospital auxiliary) walked around the booths a bit, got a free 15 minute chair massage.  Then I went to pick up Beth, but she was in the bathroom and having problems, so it was an hour before we got back to the Civic Center.  She likes to go, just to get out of the Home for a while, also, she sees a lot of people she knows at the Health Fair.  Darrel came later and got his tests, we ate lunch, (they provide a nice free lunch for all of us) then I took Beth back and returned for the Pioneer Electric meeting (boring, and no, I didn't win any of the prizes.)  Now I feel the need for a nap!  Speaking of boring, just re-read the above paragraph!

Pat, I'm  thinking about you and wondering if you got everything you wanted to get done before Paul's arrival!  There is always just one or two more things, right?  Have a great visit with him.

Marilyn, when is Michael due to arrive?  Is he back in the country yet?

Samantha, I think it was you asking, all I've heard is that the tornado in Atlanta got the top of the Georgia Dome.  No one was hurt, but they had to move all the games to the GT gym.   Sooooo, instead of 20,000+ people watching a game, less than 10,000 could.  :(  Only players, cheerleaders, staff, and family were allowed in to watch.  Apparently UK fans really got the short end of the stick and were not happy.  (Oh yea, GO VOLS!) :)

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  All is fine where I live and where our daughter lives in Atlanta.  The tornado was a bit south of where she lives.  Storms, with big hail up to 4 inches or higher, have been common today but I think it has basically passed out of the area.  The local tv stations covered the storm all day and a lot of the time the weathermen were tracking the series of storms that they called a train as one just followed another and seemed to follow the same path.  I feel very fortunate that our area was spared but that we got some much needed rain last night, but not much rain today.

I had a pleasant surprise this afternoon when my phone rang and it was Ruth Ann calling to check up on us over here.  I was glad to hear that her family were not adversely impacted by the storm.

I fianlly completed this years work for the Senior Games.  I spent about an hour with my son on the phone directing him as he made some requested changes in a number of the reports that are genereated from the database.  Overall I probably printed about 1,000 pages of reports, including a sheet for each of the 410 participants and certificates for each of the 410 participants plus sponsor certificates.  There were several other smaller reports that were also printed.  I am not sure that I didn't overheat my printer as it started having paper jams, which I had never had before.  It may be ok with just printing a few pages.  I am glad the work is done for another year.  The actual games start next month.

Janet, you can't win prizes every year.  :)  It sounds like you have a very active county and thanks for the information to my question.

Karmat, I heard that there were probably only about 1,000 people allowed to attend the games that had to be moved to the Georgia Tech arena.  Since there were 30,000 people in attendance at the Georgia Dome for the game last night I am sure there were many dissappointed fans but there was no fair way to deal with that many people so only family, cheerleaders and bands were allowed to attend.  Georgia University has had two surprising wins in the tourney but have to play two games today.

Etta Sue, I also got our tax refund on Thursday but had it directly deposited in the bank.  It took 10 days to get the State refund and only 14 for the Federal.  I really like the electronic filing.

Pat, I know you will be happy to receive word that Paul has arrived in Guelph.  Have a wonderful 10 days as you plan for your future.

Samantha

Larry, glad to hear that you and Pat and your daughter are alright, I've been checking in all day.

Psalm 30:1-2 really spoke to me this morning. I want y-all to know that I am fine. I slept very well last night, the love of Jesus is all I need. Today I am rejoicing Yes God has taught me a lesson well learned.

Someone on SN gave me a website to check out all the  things that those scammers will say, the phraseology (is that a word) that they and how they use a lot of lower case letters, adding and "s" where it doesn't belong etc. Sure enough all that was in the ims and emails he sent me. Beware of michael_eric2000 that is the ID he uses. I am going to  put that info in my blog too. They get the photos off the web and there is a website with the photos that they have used. It is over 1400 pages long.

Welcome home, Michael!  And Jeannine, I do hope you can get some rest now.

We had an unusual church service today.  We had an audio tape for Sunday School and a video for church!~  The pastor is sick again.  Both were very good, though.

Marilyn, good you found out before real damage was done.  I was suspicious when you said how he travels all over the world, wanted to take you to Australia, etc.  Some lessons are painful, but glad you are doing okay.  If you really want to meet someone via the net, I recommend Eharmony.com.  I personally know a few couples who were matched in that way.  All are doing very well.  The guy who runs it is a Christian.

I'm a little hungry, going to get myself a nice big salad!  Yum!

Marilyn ~ How naive I am... I wasn't even thinking of a scammer.  :-\  Just so happy that you discovered it before it was too late.  And yes, God is number 1.

Pat ~ Well, by now you should know what that little black box contains.  Are you happy?  What a silly question!   ;)  And I am thinking Pat, Lauren AND Geordie will be US residents soon!

Jeannine ~  Hurray!!!  Michael is home!!!  Bet he is a happy camper!!
<3

Larry ~ I hadn't heard about the tornado in Atlanta until I was reading SrNet and then Ruth Ann's post.  So happy you, Stacy and Ruth Ann and her family are all fine.

Ruth Ann ~ What a scare.  I am sure you are happy that all of you are fine and dandy!

Janet ~ Hey, busy woman....slow down!!

Today was an awesome time at church.  Palm Sunday services and Easter Sunday services are always outstanding.  I still can't praise my church enough that I can hear two sermons on the same subject.  Really sends the messages right to your heart.

After church, I drove to our township's Lions Club.  Today was their Palm Sunday Pancake Breakfast.  Pancakes, eggs, sausage, bacon, orange juice and coffee...all for a free-will donation.  Really good and filling.  I saw Ivalou there and two other ladies from her church.  Then I went to Dollar General.  I broke my mop yesterday so had to purchase a new one...and some other items, too.  Can never leave there with just one thing!!

It is sunny right now and 43°F.  When I get caught up, I am going to dust this house then relax.  Tomorrow is sweeping and fixing a crock pot full of Texas Chili.  Tuesday is Euchre here, ya know?

Hi everyone.  After such a stormy day here yesterday it is very bright, sunny and nice here today.  We attended church and the guest minister to wrap up our 30th anniversary events was the Moderator of the PCUSA.  Her name is Dr. Joan Gray and she pastors a church in Atlanta but is serving as the top person in our church government.

Following church we went to Sonny's Bar-B-Q for lunch.  This was on the way to the subway station and our daughter had put her things in the car so we took her on to the subway station.  I came home and rested awhile and have been watching the basketball games.  Our Georgia Bulldogs really shocked everyone by getting into the championship game today for the Southeastern conference as they had a pretty unsucessful year.  At half-time they were 10 points ahead of Arkansas and just now heard they are still ahead.

Jeannine I was nice to see that you had been able to bring Michael home from the hospital.

Pat, I am sure Paul must be exhausted from such a late arrival.  Hope he didn't have weather related problems on the trip.

Etta Sue, you must be overcleaning if you broke your mop.  :)

Janet, the man who started E-Harmony was a member of our pastor's church in Denver, Colorado and our pastor speeks well of him.

Marilyn, I am certainly glad you checked out that website.

Liz

Glad that you and your family are okay, Larry.  What a terrible storm!

My daughter and I are both fighting a virus, which doesn't go too well with all the painting, etc.  They are doing a wonderful job, but it is a large house and another week + to go.  Then comes the hardwood.  So it will be at least towards the end of April before things return to normal.

The painter left some of his equipment outside the front door, covered with a tarp. Someone came up to the front door and stole the expensive electric drill.  Right up to the front door!  This once beautiful area is beautiful no more.  All kinds of crime has moved in with the so called, prosperous people who are building new homes.  Could be that is how they pay the huge mortgages? :'(

Marilyn, like Janet, that was one of the things I first thought of...
Have read about all the scams going on and that is why I personally, do not make any money payments on the internet.   Or use chat rooms, etc.  Sorry that you got hurt.  Oh, in the town I used to live in, someone used my name on a dating service...also the name of one other single lady in my building.  I found out about it when I googled my name in fun.

Hope everyone has a nice day.

God Bless,

Liz

These scammers are so awful.  >:( That's the first thing I thought when Marilyn started talking about him.  I know I'm skeptical, so thought maybe I was being to quick to judge.  What do they want??  Marilyn, was he after money? Was he from another country?  I am so happy to hear that you are really fine.  I know if you were thinking of marrying him, you must have had feelings for him. I also know that our beautiful Jesus, our true Lover, can turn you so quickly away from the letdown and right back to Him.

Isn't He wonderful? <3

You're right.  You learned a lesson you might not have learned any other way.  ;D We're all glad you're safe and sound and wiser.

Sunshine here today but I haven't been out in it.  I'm so tired lately.  I know it's the interrupted sleep night after night.  One of these days my granddaughter will find a place of her own, she and the baby will move into it, and I'll NEVER let anyone move in with me again.

And this time I mean it, Jane. :uglystupid:  haha

Marilyn

Nita thanks for the comments you left on my blog I appreciate everyone's comments. How is Faye doing? I checked her blog and there hasn't beenany updates in a few months.

Yes he was after money it took him 3months to get around to asking me as you read on my  blog. He is in Nigeria.
