JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Another update on Thomas....

Thomas was moved out of ICU last night and is now in general pediatrics. He is breathing well on his own without need of any o2 support. The MRI showed some lesions on his brain from lack of oxygen. He sleeps a lot (normal healing) and when he is alert, he seems completely himself in terms of personality and can communicate with facial expressions, head shakes and nods, eye rolls, smiles and some arm movement. He wiggled his toes this morning but hasn't been able to move his legs much yet. I believe this will come back to him with time and therapy. He is still on a feeding tube for now as he wasn't able yet to swallow the pureed peas that we fed him.
He is getting physical and occupational therapy and will be transferred to a rehab facility once his medical condition permits - either Bloorview (for children) or Toronto General (for adults)

Our landline has gone up a third of what it was last year.  John and I were talking and we are going to check and see if the long distance savings are outweighed by the increase in cost.  Our long distance is $15, unlimited in North America.  There are many I call and John is able to call me from anywhere on his trips free of charge.  However if our additional charges are outweighing the long distance savings, we will be going to strictly cell phones as well.  We are fortunate our cells work in all weather, I an sorry that Ruth has that problem.

John is on his way home.  It has indeed been a long winter.  We are expecting another storm tonight or tomorrow, an Alberta Clipper.  It will move fast and be gone.....that is the good news. The bad news is it could dump a lot of snow.  Well what is another dump of snow at this point!  Spring weather will be here soon!

May you all rest well

Don

We had a beautiful day here yesterday and another one today before rain and cooler temps. Got some things to wrap up before it turns back cool so I'm gone.

Have a great day everyone.

Hi everyone.  It is another beautiful day here in Georgia.  We only had four at coffee this morning.  The main activity for today is to attend a play this afternoon.  It is a musical that I have never heard of before.  I haven't watched any of the NCAA basketball tourney yet but there were some upsets yesterday.  I am glad you liked the little poem.

Judy, that Alberta Clipper doesn't sound like any fun.  Hope John gets home before it starts.  It sounded like another good update on Thomas.

Janet, sorry to read of your trouble with using the Adobe software to edit the PDF file.  Pat and I are doing OK.  You are going to have your hands full caring for the three small ones next week but it should be a memorable experience.  Where are you going on your next trip?  Wichita has a really good basketball team this year.

Ruth

Spring has arrived but we woke to another taste of winter and tomorrow is to be terribly cold as well.

These temperatures are terrible on the aches and pains.

Has anyone heard from Gord?

Janet

Jane, before I have another senior moment, I wanted to welcome you back home!  And it's good that Judge Judy found in favor of your granddaughter concerning the car deal.  How will they assure the guy pays her back and pays for the towing?  He likely  won't do it if it's left up to him.  I just wondered how those deals work.  It is really nice to have you back in the fold, now don't be a stranger!   ;)

I just got home from a baby shower, and my goodness!  That girl got hundreds and hundreds of $$$ worth of such nice (and cute!) gifts!!  I've never been to such a lavish shower before!  I hope they realize how very blessed they are!

We will go to church tonight and then in the morning to the church my sister attends, because her two granddaughters, Autumn, 9 and Willow, 8 years old are being baptized.  I spent a few hours this morning making each of them a card, plus one for the baby shower.  Much simpler and cheaper to buy cards, for sure!  (Not as cute and personal, though.)

Wonder if I have time for a quick nap?   :sleepy:

Well the Alberta Clipper has hit.  We cannot see our neighbour's house across the road!  Thankfully this won't last and our temperatures are at the freezing mark.  Much better than the -30 to-40 we were having.  I can handle this much better.  Out in the truck with John again today and it was good to see the snow banks have evaporated or melted, whichever, it is good!  March 22, boy does time fly!  Soon it will be April and the nice weather will be here!

Anyone wishing to call or for me to call PM me with your number and I will.

Last week I was talking to a friend about a situation we both know about and she said something that is still ringing in my ears. If there is a person or situation in your life that is troubling start praying God's blessing on the person?situation and keep praying until you are released.  Hmmmmmm yes I can do that!

Have a great evening folks, and God's blessing on you tonight and tomorrow!

Today I decided to move the plastic bottles from a paper grocery sack to plastic grocery bags so I can put them out for collection and not worry about the bag getting wet and spilling the contents.  It took two of the plastic bags to hold what was in the paper one.  When I got down to the last couple of bottles I saw something dark in the corner and when I looked closer...  it was the "flipper" from my bread machine that has been missing for a couple of months!  I had looked in that bag of recyclables, but only pushed them around, didn't empty the bag.   Now I'm a happy camper and I can make some good bread!

Jeanne how blessed you were to find your flipper. My Breadman machine  has the flipper permanently attached, Can't lose that one.

I worked on graphics and stationery today, crocheted some on the twin baby afghans, (I am still on the first one) this one is almost finished, I also read some in my book. It is a book about CIA spying. My Sister I law gave us the book for Christmas one year and is a signed copy. it was written by a friend of hers at the CIA. yes she was a CIA operative before she retired, so was her husband. She said in a note attached to the book " now you will know some of my secrets".

Thomas continues to improve. The doctors say it is up to his own body to set the pace for recovery.
The physical therapist left us with some range of motion and breathing and stretching exercises to help him with this weekend.
He was awake most of last night coughing, so we let him sleep this morning. This afternoon they moved him to a wheelchair so he could be in an upright position for awhile.
Sometimes he needs a bit of o2 support after a particularly bad coughing spell.
He retains his sense of humor - smiling and even laughing.
He can't yet talk, but is getting better control of arm and hand movement. He was able to grip a pen today but couldn't write (although he tried really hard!)
He can now wiggle the toes on both feet.
He initiated a hug to tell me goodnight last night!
The doctors say that this is a marathon and most days will be 2 steps forward, 1 step back.
Keep up the prayers!

Well it is time for bed.  Cat is active, I don't understand why they sleep all day and run all night!  Cats!  At least the dogs have settled for the night.

Everyone have a good rest!

Ruth Ann Bice

Hi, friends,

I've hosted a friend from out of town - oh, what a blessing to be with someone who is almost always smiling, gracious, and a godly lady. I'm so thankful God sent our friendship. And, since we both have had joint replacements, I could empathize with the trials and tribulations involved with recovery and rehab. Oh, but how wonderful it is that our Lord let wiser heads than mine conceive of joint replacement and then provided medical staff to perform the surgery and aftercare. Oh, how blessed we are.

I promised I would try to do better about speaking to each of you, but tonight, since it's almost 11 pm, I have to beg off and plan to go straight to bed.

May our Lord bless and keep each of us and those for whom we pray.

Love y'all,
Ruth Ann

Hi Everyone. Home again. Been quite a week for dealing with snow again. Who said spring arrived. Not by what I saw this week. I noticed there was quite a discussion on cell phone use. I will say that the rates for cell's in the US is much better than in Can. I think the phone companies are gradually pushing all of us onto the cell system. Wireless is probably cheaper to maintain than the standard service.
Marilyn. If you have got 26 years out of that car of yours, you have done well. Not likely to happen here in Canada with all the junk they put on our roads in the winter time. The material they use here now to deice the roads just seems to rot everything on our vehicles. Many trucking companies for instance only plan on keeping new trucks for 5 years and get rid of them because that's the timeline trouble starts. And its has a lot to do with the deicer on the highways.

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  No sun today as it is quite overcast and we have a 60% chance of occasional showers throughout the day. We did attend the play yesterday but while it was done well it was not among my favorites.  We have only one more play in the series to attend this season.  We will be going to church and out to lunch and that will be it for today.  I got up very late this morning as guess I played too much basketball last evening.  However, I watched a couple of good games.  I will probably watch more games this afternoon and evening.

Ruth, stay in where it is warm.  Aches and pains are certainly unpleasant.

Janet, it seems like some things may be getting out of hand like the lavish baby shower and now I understand the average cost for high school proms is around $1900 per attendee (if I correctly remember what I heard the other day).  Hope you got your nap in yesterday.

Judy, April will certainly be welcome this year after the tough winter in so many areas.

Jeanne, the lost is found and know that makes you very happy to have some of that good homemade bread again.

Marilyn, I am pretty sure our flipper for our bread machine comes out.  Isn't it a bit difficult to clean the bread cylinder with that flipper built in?  The book you are reading sounds interesting.

Ruth Ann, your friend sounds like a winner.  It is interesting how much of our conversations with friends our age relate to our aches and pains and medical procedures.  I find this with my coffee drinking friends.  We are blessed to have joint replacements and pacemakers and other medical devices and procedures available to us now.

John, I agree with you on being pushed into cellphone use in the future but hopefully that will bring down the prices.  Wow, five years for a truck isn't a very long depreciation time.

Our new week is here. Lets pray for each other as we walk through our days.
