Morning Devotional...

Psalm 34

Our Lord really, really hears us when we pray - as long as we meet a certain well-defined condition.

David begins this psalm by saying, "I sought the Lord, and He heard me, and delivered me from all my fears . . . this poor man cried out, and the Lord heard him, and saved him out of all his troubles.  The angel of the Lord encamps all around those who fear Him, and delivers them!"

A little later he says, "Oh taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the man who trusts in Him!  Oh fear the Lord, you His saints!  There is NO want to those who fear Him!"

But we need to know the meaning of this all-important "fear." David has them sing about what it is.  He says, "Come, you children, listen to me; I will teach you the fear of the Lord.  Who is the man who desires life, and loves many days, that he may see good?  Keep your tongue from evil, and your lips from speaking deceit. Depart from evil and do good; seek peace and pursue it." Real "fear of the Lord" is just living a life of righteousness as the result of being aware of living in His holy and majestic presence.

He says, "the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and His ears are open to their cry! . . . the righteous cry out, and the Lord hears, and delivers them out of all their troubles."  The fear of the Lord, which shows itself in righteous living - is the condition for answered prayer.

What a wonderful promise comes along with this fear of God.  The song closes with it.  They sing, "Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers him out of them all . . . and none of those who trust in Him shall be condemned."

So, brother or sister in Christ our King - will you sing this song about answered prayer?  Do you experience answered prayer in your life? There's a condition you have to meet to experience it: you must fear the Lord.  That is, realizing that He is the God Who sees, you must purpose to continually live in a way that pleases Him, and, when you stumble, you must confess it to Him.  In other words, you have to have a real and living relationship with Him each day, all day.  It's from such a life that prayer and answers to prayer flow.

Here's a hymn that reflects these thoughts.  Just click to hear the music.

All People That on Earth Do Dwell
(Click to hear music)

"Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth. Worship the Lord with gladness; come before Him with joyful songs." Psalm 100:1-2

Words: From Fourscore and Seven Psalms of David (Geneva, Switzerland: 1561); attributed to William Kethe.

Music: "Old 100th," attributed to Louis Bourgeois, in Four Score and Seven Psalms of David (Geneva, Switzerland: 1551)

All people that on earth do dwell,
Sing to the Lord with cheerful voice.
Him serve with mirth, His praise forth tell;
Come ye before Him and rejoice.

The Lord, ye know, is God indeed;
Without our aid He did us make;
We are His folk, He doth us feed,
And for His sheep He doth us take.

O enter then His gates with praise;
Approach with joy His courts unto;
Praise, laud, and bless His Name always,
For it is seemly so to do.

For why? the Lord our God is good;
His mercy is forever sure;
His truth at all times firmly stood,
And shall from age to age endure.

To Father, Son and Holy Ghost,
The God Whom heaven and earth adore,
From men and from the angel host
Be praise and glory evermore.

:) Good morning or good night.  I have not been on the site for a few days as I ended up in the hospital on Wednesday morning with some major pains in my arms and my chest.  I called my son as I new he would be on his way to work and he told me to call our medical help system and they sent an ambulance and I was in the hospital very soon.  They did lots of test and then the doctor sent me to have an angiogram in the heart hospital called Hamilton General which is hooked up with the McMaster University and the treatment is great.  So Praise the Lord they never found any problems and the artery that was blocked in April is also totally clear and no plaque.

I have looked at a lot of the posts and now am very tired and my incision is very sore to so must go to bed.

Please pray for us both and may the Lord give you all a wonderful week.   Gord and Noreen <3

Hi everyone.  It is really chilly but very sunny here today.  The housekeeper is coming about 10 am.  Pat has a doctor's appointment at noon to see about her leg and knee that is giving her so much pain and problem.  I have a luncheon to attend at 1 pm and that is our day.

I have misplaced a lightweight jacket and gloves.  I wore it Saturday morning so I had to have left it somewhere on Saturday.  I thought maybe I left it at our daughter's apartment but she said this morning it isn't there.  I will make a couple of calls a little later to see if I left it there.  I don't mind losing the jacket as much as the driving gloves but won't lose any sleep if I can't locate them.

Gord, sorry to hear you have had another scary episode.  Once we have had the heart problems we just can't take the chance when we have the chest and arm pains.  My last hospitalization occurred when I had a similar incident.  Glad your tests came out well.

Marilyn, I will send you an e-mail about your computer question.

Pat, it is not a good sign if SeniorNet is not keeping Marcie informed as she is one of their employees or at least I assume she still is employed with them although I know she works from home a lot.  I just follow a few discussions on SN anymore and seldom post.  However, I do like to keep up with some of our friends we have made over the years.

Al, thanks for the fine devotional on Psalms 34.

Janet, good to read that the stroke didn't do the damage you had feared for Darrel's sister.  Glad you were able to celebrate your mother-in-law's birthday.  Hope you have been able to get rested up by today.

Liz, glad to read that you are feeling better.  Some of these medicines can certainly cause problems on their own.  I often shake my head when I listen to drug company advertisements and they talk about all of the awful side effects that may happen if you take that medication.  I haven't watched the Hour of Power program for sometime and didn't realize there were problems.  The last time I watched Dr. Schuler's son was preaching.

Judy, did you get your computer at home as you thought would happen by the weekend?

Melody, thanks for remembering my wife in prayer.  It sounds like it is rather soggy up your way.

Pat received this from a friend and I thought it was worth sharing here.

    GOD LIVES UNDER THE BED

I envy Kevin. My brother, Kevin, thinks God lives under his bed. At least that's what I heard him say one night. He was praying out loud in his dark bedroom, and I stopped to listen, 'Are you there, God?' he said. 'Where are you? Oh, I see. Under the bed...'I giggled softly and tiptoed off to my own room.

Kevin's unique perspectives are often a source of amusement. But that night something else lingered long after the humor.  I realized for the first time the very different world Kevin lives in.He was born 30 years ago, mentally disabled as a result of difficulties during labor. Apart from his size (he's 6-foot-2), there are few ways in which he is an adult. He reasons and communicates with the capabilities of a 7-year-old, and he always will.

He will probably always believe that God lives under his bed, that Santa Claus is the one who fills the space under our tree every Christmas and that airplanes stay up in the sky because angels carry them.

I remember wondering if Kevin realizes he is different. Is he ever dissatisfied with his monotonous life? Up before dawn each day, off to work at a workshop for the disabled, home to walk our cocker spaniel, return to eat his favorite macaroni-and-cheese for dinner, and later to bed.The only variation in the entire scheme is laundry, when he hovers excitedly over the washing machine like a mother with her newborn child.

He does not seem dissatisfied. He lopes out to the bus every morning at 7:05, eager for a day of simple work.He wrings his hands excitedly while the water boils on the stove before dinner, and he stays up late twice a week to gather our dirty laundry for his next day's laundry chores. And Saturdays - oh, the bliss of Saturdays! That's the day my Dad takes Kevin to the airport to have a soft drink, watch the planes land, and speculate loudly on the destination of each passenger inside. 'That one's goin' to Chi-car-go! ' Kevin shouts as he claps his hands. His anticipation is so great he can hardly sleep on Friday nights.

And so goes his world of daily rituals and weekend field trips. He doesn't know what it means to be discontent. His life is simple. He will never know the entanglements of wealth of power, and he does not care what brand of clothing he wears or what kind of food he eats. His needs have always been met, and he never worries that one day they may not be.

His hands are diligent. Kevin is never so happy as when he is working.  When he unloads the dishwasher or vacuums the carpet, his heart is completely in it. He does not shrink from a job when it is begun, and he does not leave a job until it is finished. But when his tasks are done, Kevin knows how to relax. He is not obsessed with his work or the work of others. His heart is pure. He still believes everyone tells the truth, promises must be kept, and when you are wrong, you apologize instead of argue. Free from pride and unconcerned with appearances, Kevin is not afraid to cry when he is hurt, angry or sorry. He is always transparent, always sincere. And he trusts God.

Not confined by intellectual reasoning, when he comes to Christ, he comes as a child. Kevin seems to know God - to really be friends with Him in a way that is difficult for an 'educated' person to grasp. God seems like his closest companion. In my moments of doubt and frustrations with my Christianity, I envy the security Kevin has in his simple faith. It is then that I am most willing to admit that he has some divine knowledge that rises above my mortal questions. It is then I realize that perhaps he is not the one with the handicap. I am. My obligations, my fear, my pride, my circumstances - they all become disabilities when I do not trust them to God's care.

Who knows if Kevin comprehends things I can never learn? After all, he has spent his whole life in that kind of innocence, praying after dark and soaking up the goodness and love of God. And one day, when the mysteries of heaven are opened, and we are all amazed at how close God really is to our hearts, I'll realize that God heard the simple prayers of a boy who believed that God lived under his bed. Kevin won't be surprised at all! When you receive this, say a prayer. That's all you have to do. There is nothing attached. This is powerful.  Prayer is one of the best free gifts we receive. There is no cost, but a lot of rewards.

It Is No Secret
(Click to hear music)

Lyrics: Stuart Hamblen

The chimes of time ring out the news,
Another day is through.
Someone slipped and fell
Was that someone you?
You may have longed for added strength,
Your courage to renew.
Do not be disheartened,
For I have news for you.

Refrain

It is no secret what God can do.
What He's done for others, He'll do for you.
With arms wide open, He'll pardon you.
It is no secret what God can do.

There is no night for in His light
You never walk alone.
Always feel at home,
Wherever you may go.
There is no power can conquer you
While God is on your side.
Take Him at His promise,
Don't run away and hide.

Refrain
It is no secret what God can do.
What He's done for others, He'll do for you.
With arms wide open, He'll pardon you.
It is no secret what God can do.

I  have enjoyed reading all the answers to these questions.  Yes, JudyB, a good way to get to know each other.

1.At what age did you accept Christ as Savior?

I was very young, less than school age, when I first said yes to Jesus, under my Aunt's teaching in Sunday School.  Later on, I realized I had not understood the meaning of repenting, and then I accepted Christ and was baptized at age 16.

2.What age is your oldest child?

Elaine is 50.

3.Year, make and model of your car?

2002 Mercury Sable.

Got another one in today's email.

*Missing Bags*

I couldn't find my luggage at the airport baggage area so I went to the lost luggage office and told the woman there that my bags never showed up. She smiled and told me not to worry because they were trained professionals and I was in good hands.

"Now," she asked me, "has your plane arrived yet?"

Where are all the East coasters this morning?

Good Morning.  Not much is new here, I'm just checking in now instead of continuing to lurk and only read. It is raining here still.

I may not get to work tomorrow or Thursday  as the client's daughter who is here visiting from Washington called last night and said she would do the walks the rest of the week after today. She is having oral surgery today and thinks she will be felling well enough to do the walks.

If that is the case I will be leaving for Oregon tomorrow morning instead of Thursday after work. I am anxious to get up there to get that room cleaned out and all those toys boxed up and brought  down her to Forest. That will be the guest room when we finish.

I also want to do some touch up cleaning in my bedroom and bathroom before I move my own things in there. So that extra day will be a welcome  gift.

Hi everyone.  Just back from a meeting and stopping to fill up the cars with gas.  My wife is having lunch with a friend and I am just now eating my lunch.  Not much else on the schedule for today.  It is overcast and rather chilly here today.

Marilyn, hope you enjoy the time off.

Jeanne, I enjoyed your funny postings.  I got a chuckle from them.

Janet, hope you enjoy your day back at work.  I thought maybe you had decided not to work there anymore.  Of course, I know you have been away.

Judy, hunting over getting your computer fixed--where are that man's priorities.  :)  Glad you daughter had a good nights sleep.

I just got home from eating out with three other ladies.  We play Euchre and they invited me to come along.  We then went to J.C.Penny's and the CVS store.

Dark and gloomy today and cold.  Drizzling rain that could turn to snow if the temp drops many degrees.  Brrrr!

Tomorrow Red Hats are going to Metamora...a little town that has lots of little shops.  I will be looking for something for my Secret Sister for Thanksgiving and maybe Christmas.  There will be only four of us so Ivalou asked if I would drive her car.  Yes.  So I may not be here until evening tomorrow.

Of course!!  It is no secret!!  But that wouldn't
fit the age, time, etc. guideline, so........I'm glad I mentioned it, as I really enjoyed hearing the music again.  Thanks, Pat!

Work wasn't too bad today.  Dr. Friesen sent Darrel and me to a store that sells medical hosiery, and we each got two pairs of compression knee high socks.  I wore a pair today, and boy, what a great difference!  He told us to be sure to wear them any time we fly from now on, too.

Larry, I really hadn't intended to go back to work.  :-\  Guess I will have to re-learn how to say NO.  I plan to say just that if they only want to use me on holidays and weekends.  Not worth it!

Interesting that nearly all of us have a first child around the age of 50.

I need to make some phone calls tonight that I have been postponing.  Not a good thing to do, need to stay in touch better.

Janice, your salvation experience very closely parallels my own.  I was five or six when I first responded, then later became unsure whether or not I had understood, and was assured that it wouldn't upset God if I sort of repeated the process and made sure.  So I was also baptized again at age 17.

Oh, my.  Now they are talking a 50 billion dollar auto maker bailout!!  Is there no end to the insanity???  :uglystupid:

I made Darrel happy....I made several coconut cream pies, and brought a piece home to him.  (With permission, of course.)

Later, Kids!

I'd just like to know one thing about all these "bail-outs" - who will pay for them, and how will it be paid? (especially considering that our nation is already multi-billions in debt).  May our Father have mercy on us!  Especially may He have mercy on those of us who depend upon Social Security, etc. - when it goes broke.

Janet

I just cannot let this day go by without paying tribute to our armed forces......so:

A Tribute to Veterans Day

Thank you for your service to this country.

Today is Veteran's Day and yesterday, November 10, marked the 233rd birthday of the United States Marine Corps.

We proudly salute each and every veteran that has ever served our great country, the United States of America.
For those of you who served or are serving in the branches of our military, please accept this salute to the Marines, the Army, Navy, Air Force and Coast Guard.

Flags today in tribute wave
For those loyal ones who gave Of their youth, their hopes,
their might For a cause they knew was right.

Morning bells sound their call,
Pause and say a prayer for all--
All who served valiantly
That men might be ever free.

Toll of bells, drums' slow beat--
Silence falls in every street.
In each heart swells the plea:
Keep us safe, but keep us free!

History of Veterans Day

1918

World War I, then normally referred to simply as The Great War (no one could imagine any war being greater!), ended with the implementation of an armistice [temporary cessation of hostilities—in this case until the final peace treaty, the infamous Treaty of Versailles, was signed in 1919] between the Allies and Germany at the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of November, 1918.

1919
November 11: President Wilson proclaims the first Armistice Day with the following words: "To us in America, the reflections of armistice Day will be filled with solemn pride in the heroism of those who died in the country's service and with gratitude for the victory, both because of the thing from which it has freed us and because of the opportunity it has given America to show her sympathy with peace and justice in the councils of the nations..." The original concept for the celebration was for the suspension of business for a two minute period beginning at 11 A.M., with the day also marked by parades and public mettings.

1920
On the second anniversary of the armistice, France and the United Kingdom hold ceremonies honoring their unknown dead from the war. In America, at the suggestion of church groups, President Wilson names the Sunday nearest Armistice Day Sunday, on which should be held services in the interest of international peace.

1921
Congress passes legislation approving the establishment of a Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Arlington National Cemetery. November 11 is chosen for the date of the ceremony. According on October 20, Congress declares November 11, 1921 a legal Federal holiday to honor all those who participated in the war. The ceremony was conducted with great success.

1926
Congress adopts a resolution directing the President to issue an annual proclamation calling on the observance of Armistice Day. Throughout the 1920s and 1930s, most states establish November 11 as a legal holiday and at the Federal level, an annual proclamation is issued by the President.

1938
Congress passes legislation on May 13 making November 11 a legal Federal holiday, Armistice Day. The United States has no 'actual' national holidays because the states retain the right to designate their own holidays. The Federal government can in fact only designate holidays for Federal employees and for the District of Columbia. But in practice the states almost always follow the Federal lead in designation of holidays.

1941- 1945
1950- 1953
World War II and the Korean War create millions of additional war veterans in addition to those of the First World War already honored by Armistice Day.

1954
On June 1, President Eisenhower signs legislation changing the name of the legal holiday from Armistice Day to Veteran's Day.

1968
Congress passes the Monday Holiday Law which established the fourth Monday in October as the new date for the observance of Veteran's Day. The law is to take effect in 1971.

1971-1975
The Federal observance of Veterans Day is held on the fourth Monday of October. Initially all states follow suit except Mississippi and South Dakota. Other states changed their observances back to November 11 as follows: 1972- Louisiana and Wisconsin; 1974- Kentucky, Arkansas, Connecticut, Georgia, Maine, South Carolina, West Virginia; 1975- California, Florida, Idaho, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Carolina, Utah, West Virginia, Wyoming

1975
Legislation passed to return the Federal observance of Veteran's Day to November 11, based on popular support throughout the nation. Since the change to the fourth Monday in October, 46 states had either continued to commemorate November 11 or had reverted back to the original date based on popular sentiment. The law was to take effect in 1978.

1978
Veteran's Day observance reverts to November 11.

Thank you to all that have served

I don't spend that much time on the site, so didn't read any of the things Pat mentioned.  Is that what happened to cause Sr. Net to close down?

My daughter had recorded Master P. Theatre's "God On Trial" and I went upstairs to watch it....suggest anyone who missed the program, watch it if repeated.  It is about the Jewish people waiting to be killed by the Germans, holding a trial about God and the Covenant.  Well worth watching, even tho' it made me cry.

Sometimes I wonder if the human race will ever learn anything from their mistakes.  As I said to my daughter, we must look for good and for beauty in the simple things now.  No matter how bleak things look, God is in control.  One day we will have the answers to our questions.  For now, we must trust and pray.

God Bless,

Liz

Liz, I watched it last night.  It was sad, and I've thought of it all day.  It pains me when I think of the the depth of depravity Hitler's men sank to.  And it pains me because, without Christ, men are still able to do such horrible things.

Pat, I didn't know about the spammer.  I'm glad the volunteers are on the spot so that we don't have to even see it.  Thanks.

Well, today is the day Red Hats goes to Metamora for lunch and shopping at the quaint shops.  Metamora is noted for its canal and the horse drawn canal boat.  There is a grist mill there also.  Really a fun place to visit.  Just hope it doesn't rain like it is predicted.  It is about 70 miles away...a long way to go for lunch and then return right back home.  I sure sound like doom and gloom.  It will be a wonderful day spent with friends!  God gives us cold, rainy days so we appreciate the warmer sunny days all the more!

I hadn't heard about the 50 billion dollar auto maker bailout.  Of course my area was the auto maker area.  I can't see the government doing that if the auto maker continues making gas guzzler vehicles!  If this all keeps on, we definitely will have change....not bills...just change!

I was away yesterday and got a lot of sewing completed.  My boss is in the armed services so she closed the store for the day yesterday.

Larry Hunting comes before any and everything here in the north.  THe people born and bred in the north march to a different drummer.  Everything moves slower with them, much to John's aggrevation.  Also when they hunt it is with the purpose of filling freezers for the winter.  We have friends hunting on our property that will be giving us some venison, and if they all get a deer, we will get a whole lot for our freezer.  This is the northern winter bailout!

I have read all the posts and I am praying for each of you.

Samantha, it's wonderful to have you "younguns" among us!  :)

We are trying to decide what to do on Thanksgiving.  We have been invited to daughter Kerri's at Salina, and also to grandson Curtis' in Los Lunas, New Mexico.  What a great 'problem' to have!  8)

I have a couple errands to do, and am meeting my sweetie for lunch.  I spent the morning getting rid of accumulated mail....ugh....my least favorite household chore.  I do much better at keeping up than I used to do, but still........

Pat, sorry about all the spammers.  I can't imagine having so little to do with my time that I would want to cause problems for others.

Liz, I would love to see that program..  I don't seem to hear about those in time to watch.  :-\

Well I am out of here and headed for Oregon in about an hour,l I will check in from there so I don't get too far behind reading the posts. I better be checking my email from there too or I will really be behind. I've already loaded the car and had the going away for a few days talk with the dogs. Bill from across the street will be taking care of them and has both phoned numbers if he needs to reach me for anything. I've called Gilbert to let him know where I will be and what times I will be driving both ways He likes to keep track of mom inc case anything happens on the road. Don't ya just love the concern your children show for your safety?

Well I have other places to read before I leave. I don't  want to get on the road for at least another hour.

Janet, thanks for the post about veterans.  I hope we never forget their service.  Earl served in the Philipines at the end of WW2.  That was before I knew him of course, I was just a kid during the war.  I was 9 years old when Pearl Harbor happened.  I do remember a few things about that war time though, we had a Victory garden. some bought war bonds, and we had 'stamps' to be able to buy certain things (My parents did, I mean).

Would y'all pray for my great niece and her husband please?  This is quite a story so I will try to be brief.  A little over a year ago, they had been dating for about a year.  He was in the Navy reserve, and got orders to deploy to Iraq.  The time was short, so they decided to get married by a JP with no family present, and then have a formal wedding when he returned.  He was able to come home on leave for 2 weeks in May, and then came home in late September, and they had the wedding (renewal of vows) in October (the original wedding was last year in October).  Now he has been notified that he will be deployed again in December.  It just seems so unfair, they haven't had the time to begin their married life yet, and now is delayed again!  I am not sure if he will go to Iraq or to Afghanistan.
This is the day the Lord has made, we will rejoice and be glad in it.   Ps 118:24

Last week, I went to lunch and someone I was with payed for a group of ten US soldiers' meals to thank them for their service and sacrifice foe our country.  I pray that someday I will be blessed enough financially to do something like that.

I guess I missed the spam, too.  Yeah!  Thanks to the ones who notified of and took care of the problem.

My hubby's off this week and we're enjoying family time together.  Please Pray for me-I had a bad asthma attack last night and acid reflux, which then caused aspiration pneumonia that now prevents us from going on our day trip today that we had planned, which involved hiking.  I still am having much trouble breathing even though I've taken my nebulizer and am coughing stuff up.  ew.  We will still do something fun today, but so far I've been resting and my girls are practicing an Irish Dance piece to a worship song for church this Sunday.  My hubby's reading a fat book he's been reading. I think a scenic drive and a movie are planned for later today.

Well, I didn't read all of everyone else's response to this, but here go my answers...

Age or Years

1.   At what age did you accept Christ as Savior? 8, came into full relationship with Christ at 13

2.   What age is your oldest child? 17

3.   Year, make and model of your car? 1999 Isuzu Trooper

4.   At what age did you get your first car, and what was it?   19, 1965 Mustang

5.   How old is the oldest garment hanging in your closet, and what is it? A denim jacket that I got when I was 14.  No, I don't wear it anymore.  Most of my older clothes become costumes for my kid's films.

6.   What is the newest garment in same closet? Blouse for church

7.   What year did you graduate from high school and what size was your class?  1985  600ish (my hubby graduated 10th in our class  :P)

8.   Do you prefer the age-old songs, or the new songs, (or a mix) in your church?  Mix  Personally, I like it a little more weighted toward the old songs, but I enjoy both as long as the new ones aren't sung into the ground.

9.   Which is better, the Good Old Days, or Today? both, depends

10.    Name one song, any type, with the word 'Age, Time, Years, or Old " in the title.  Age to Age, Amy Grant

Praying for your asthma Kathleen, Terry has that also.

I am soooo jealous of your 1st car too!  Do you still have it?  I would love to have a 65 Mustang, just to tool around town in!

Terry bought me one a few years ago that needed restoring, but I didn't have the time then, nor do I now, to work on it.  So he sold it a year later for the same as he gave for it.  Then the new owner informed us it was a 64 1/2 not a 65!  I had a gold mine in my yard and didn't know it.  :ticked:

I'm some better today, thanks for the prayers!

Thank you for your prayers, everyone.

Oh no, Samantha!  I can't imagine.  How terrible you didn't know it was a 64 1/2.  I actually had mine until 2000 when we sold it in order to buy a Ford Bronco to pull our travel trailer.  It was a sacrifice for the family that I don't regret making.  The memories we made camping as a family are far more valuable to us than that material possession.  It was a very nice material possession, though!

I'm glad you're feeling better.  :)

Hi everyone.  This has been a very busy day and still have choir practice this evening.   Before we arose this morning our phone rang and it was our daughter telling us she had had to go to the ER at 2 am in the morning and was waiting in the ER to be assigned a doctor.  Yesterday she had taken her trash to the trash chute, which is only a short distance from her apartment and used her cane rather than the wheelchair and had a loud pop in her foot and it started hurting worse and worse until about 2 am when the pain became too intense and she called the EMT's.  They x-rayed her foot and compared the x-ray with her previous films and apparently didn't see any break so they dismissed her.

I had an appointment in a town south of here so when it was over at noon I checked with Pat and learned that Stacey was waiting at the hospital.  I was about 25 miles away but all Interstate.  It took me about 30 minutes to get to the hospital and pick her up.  Fortunately the EMT's had allowed her to take her crutches, although they didn't let her grab a coat.  Anyway I got her back to her apartment.  Tomorrow afternoon I will go back and take her back to the hospital for a scheduled appointment with the foot doctor.

I didn't eat lunch until about 2 pm after stopping at Kroger's for a sub sandwich to eat on the way home so won't be eating dinner this evening.

Janet, I agree that insanity seems to be guiding our government officials.  Today they have announced they will now bailout a whole bunch of new sectors of the banking industry.  What bothers me is to see the Federal government acquiring interests in all of these banks and apparently will buy part of the car industry as this appears to be the beginning of nationalization of our industries.  I heard today that the average GM worker makes $81 per hour.  No wonder the cars cost so much and the industry is in so much trouble.  Our country seems to be getting weaker and weaker by the month as we become beholden to other countries who hold our debt.  I'll get off of my soapbox now.

Marilyn, glad to see you are safely at your destination.

I have read the other postings but will not try to make individual replies today.

Good  evening to all and praise his name for an other day :)

God is so awesome and so good how he continually looks after his children <3

Yesterday I was able to go to the Cardiologist and he wants to a lot more tests.  It seems to get to the point where you get fed up and wonder if it is all Worth it.  I was reading in a magazine today of the testimony of different people who have used natural products and are feeling so much better that even there doctors cannot understand what has happened.

May the Lord be with all who are in the need of prayer for yourself or for family I pray that he the Lord will touch each one and renew strength in there bodies.  Good night.  Gord and Noreen. <3

I have been up for hours with an itch in my neck area.  It is all from wearing a newly knitted scarf - and I have actually been knitting another one for myself.   :(

Last night, I had to make up a story about where I was going.  I had to buy groceries for Saturday's surprise party and used cash in order to keep this quiet.  Most of it is in son's refrigerator they keep in the garage.  This is getting difficult and I can't wait for all to be over.

Larry:  I surely hope that Stacey uses her walker even for the short jaunts - her condition sounds so fragile as far as the bone problem.  Let us hope and pray for good news on this checkup.  As for the terrible money ready to be thrown away in our country - it is just shocking news more and more each and every day.  I don't think these so-called leaders and experts have been schooled in realistic terms.

Janet:  Are you getting back into your "normal" life?

Happy Trails to you..... does anyone remember the song from  Roy Rogers and Dale Evans?

JudyB

Happy trails to you
Until we meet again
Happy trails to you,

Not sure what comes next.

Had a good night last night, slept right away and slept soundly.  I must have been more tired than I thought.

Pat is Paul getting rested up?

Today I have a class,  teaching a young lady how to sew.  She is a quick study but lacks confidence.  A lovely young lady though.

I must run was a little later getting in today so have a bit to get caught back up.

Have a great day everyone.

We had a great trip to Metamora.  The two restaurants that we thought we could eat at were both closed...one was even for sale.  So we found a place with sandwiches.  Probably a two thirds of the stores were closed so I got the GPS out and we went north.  I knew this one town had an antique mall and a candle shop.  We got to the candle shop first and found out it was a new building with lots and lots of Christmas items to buy and of course, candles!  The rest of the way home I drove in the rain.  At least, it waited until we were in the car.

Today is our 60 Chix.  That is always fun.

Tomorrow morning I am having a plumber come and replace some copper tubing that has a small leak in it in the basement.  Always something!

I have been up for hours with an itch in my neck area.

I surely do remember that song.  It is a pleasant memory of my childhood.  For those in the Branson, Mo area, the Roy Rogers Museum has been moved there from Victorville, Ca.

Lyrics to "Happy Trails" by Dale Evans Rogers

Happy trails to you, until we meet again.
Happy trails to you, keep smilin' until then.
Who cares about the clouds when we're together?
Just sing a song and bring the sunny weather.
Happy trails to you, 'till we meet again.

Some trails are happy ones,
Others are blue.
It's the way you ride the trail that counts,
Here's a happy one for you.

Happy trails to you, until we meet again.
Happy trails to you, keep smilin' until then.
Who cares about the clouds when we're together?
Just sing a song and bring the sunny weather.

Happy trails to you, 'till we meet again.

As for the itchy neck, I use an over the counter product called:

Hydrocortisone Ointment
1% anti-itch

Just rub it on the itchy spot and it stops itching.

Thank you for the words to that song.  Wow tallk about a trip back in time!  My Girlfriend would stay at our place for a couple of weeks each summer and before we would do dishes we would watch the Roy Rodgers sShow.  Then dishes and outside to play.  This girlfriend is a reverend now in southern Ontario.  What carefree days those were.

Hi everyone.  It is a misty and chilly morning but the rain is suppose to clear out later in the day.  I have to make another trip to Atlanta today to take Stacey to see the foot doctor at the hospital annex.

Today has three friends here to play some games and enjoy lunch together. She is serving a cheese potato soup in bread bowls she prepared yesterday.  I went ahead and make my lunch so I won't bother them as they play.  I just need to grab it out of the refrigerator.  I will have to leave around noon to get downtown.

My very good friend, Rod, has been a huge fan of Roy Rogers and things Western.  He recently attended a film festival in California that he has attended often where the old stars of the Western appear.  He has lots of collectibles but is slowly selling them via eBay.

Yesterday, Rod called me on Skype from Australia and he has a webcam built into his traveling computer and I was seeing him in his hotel room and he turned the cam around and pointed it out the window where the ship they will board this afternoon was docked in the harbor.  It is a big ship.  The picture was very clear and there was no problem with the voice communication either way.  He said he had to pay $13 for two hours of Internet time and won't be calling from the ship as it costs $0.75 per minute.  It was nice to talk with him.

Etta Sue, the GPS comes in very handy at times.  I used mine yesterday although it didn't direct me to where it was suppose to but later I used it to get to the hospital and it guided me flawlessly.

Carol, planning special events is a big job, especially if you have to keep it secret.  I am sure it will be great.

Gord, are you going to have to do another stress test or Echocardiogram?  Sometimes it seems we get on a treadmill of testing and doctor visits that won't end.

Here's a roadside sign that I found here, in Idaho, that goes along with the song and lyrics, which I also remember.  I think I remember them because of my parents and/or singing experience.  I know lots of old songs that other people my age don't know.  Not sure I would've remembered all of the words, though.

Good road sign.  Did they ever film in that area?  I know they filmed a lot in California, we would often pass the area that is dedicated to them, but never have the time to stop and explore.  I loved the trucking but really missed the "touristy" experiences.

Good morning, everyone!

Thank you to all who prayed for me.  I had a much better night and actually got some rest.  I am breathing a little better today, but the asthma/pneumonia seems to hang on when this happens.  I am so thankful to have slept.  Thank you, thank you brothers and sisters in Christ!

It's raining cats and dogs here where I live.  I love the sound of rain.  I especially loved to hear it on the roof of our travel trailer when we would camp.  My hubby will want to go for a drive and play in the puddles today, no doubt.  Not sure what else we'll do.  It's his vacation, so we will let him decide.

I think that I may have enough energy to make my family some biscuits and gravy and eggs for breakfast today.   :)

Time to go get coffee brewing and the breakfast cooking!  :coffee:  Have a great day everyone!

Thanks.  I keep wanting to straighten the sign, but then the horizon is slanted.  I recall having to take the photo at a funny angle to avoid going on private property.

According to WIKI, "Sweet is an unincorporated town in Gem County, Idaho, United States. It is located approximately 16 miles (26.7 kilometers) northeast of Emmett.
Sweet was established as a post office in 1885 by Ezekiel Sweet. It serves the farming and ranching community of the Lower Squaw Creek Valley."

I know several movies have been filmed in Idaho, but I don't know about filming in Sweet, particularly.  I did find this funny/interesting tidbit of information regarding a film you probably have all at least heard of, that was filmed here.  http://www.snopes.com/movies/films/dynamite.asp

Judy Dale Evans and Roy Rogers Lived and filmed in apple Valley California they had their museum there until their son sold it after Dale's death  in 1999 (I think) Now the museums contents are in Branson Missouri. When I lived in the desert Iwas only about 35 miles from Dales house. One of my clients there knew them very well an and been in some of their movies as a trick rider.

I Have  been busy this morning I finally made it out of the kitchen, where I baked a Butter Pecan cake from a box and made butter cream frosting. Then I baked a batch of oatmeal peanut butter cookies and cleaned up my mess, I have a load in the dryer another in the washer and another waiting to get washed.  When I come up here  grab everything that look like it might need washing even if it doen't and throw it in the washer. This time some of my stuff even got it. The cat attacked my yarn last night whenn I was rcocheting and his claws got my leg enough to draw some blood.

I am crocheting hot pad sets for Christmas, sets of three in different sizes and using a Q hook and 6 skeins of yarn at once. so they are very heavy and multicolored.

I prfer the emails to any of the sites, it is a much more intimate adn we can say what ever we want and not worry about  others reading  it.

I need to call Jaywalker and Nita so I should get back of the computer in a few minutes after I check the rest of my email.

Al and Larry, Darrel and I are listening to/watching all the insanity about government bailouts and wondering just who is going to bail out the government??  Good grief; such astronomical numbers a person can't get his head around it!  Come quickly, Lord Jesus!

Sorry about Stacey's foot, Larry.  It does seem that for some of us on here, there is no end to our daughters' problems.

I took Beth an apron today.  She dislikes the "clothes protecters" (bibs) they have at the Home, refuses to wear them, so her clothes get messed up at every meal.  I asked her if she would wear an apron, she said yes; so I got one made for her that is reversible, has no waist ties, and has a velcro fastener on the strap of the bib.  It is in patriotic prints, and she liked it a lot.  Now I will look for more fabrics I think she will like and get at least a couple more made for her.

Carol, what is the occasion for the surprise dinner?  I must have missed your post on that.  Yes, I am getting back to my "normal" life.....what is NORMAL, ANYWAY?  8)

I once visited the Roy Rogers Museum in Apple Valley, California.  It was neat.  And Dale's granddaughter was in Dodge City a few years ago for a performance and she said the museum was being relocated to Branson, Mo.  So maybe I will see those things again one day.

I am almost through typing up the report on our European trip.  If any of you would like to read it, email me and I will email it to you.  It is several pages, so I don't want to post it on here.  But if you have an interest, let me know.  Thanks.

I am trying to organize some of my photos and mementos and be ready for scrapbooking day on Saturday.  Boy, am I behind!!

We are going to Salina for Thanksgiving, then a few days later will go to Albuquerque to Curt's and trade vehicles.  Everything works out, but sometimes we wonder for a while!

Judy, you are making me want to get back to sewing again, but there are only so many hours in our days, and it seems mine speed by on wings!

Time to go crop some photos!

I heard something about the Liberal Government decision on an auto manufacturing bailour.  They won't bail out any of the auto makers unless there is a viable survival plan.  The question is what do they consider viable?

It is a beautiful day here in the north 48 degrees, but oh the forcast for the weekend!  There is a winter weather wathc on for tomorrow.  snow freezing rain and all that goes with it.  This is aparently coming from the north and west, and those of us around the great lakes will get the worse of it.  John's cousin is coming from Ottawa to see Mother, and I am questioning the wisdom of that.  John weill be meeting up with him as well.  Oh well That too is in God's hands.

If we didn't have the absolute assurance that God is in control, it would be a huge temptation to fear in these days.  Gun sales are soaring, jobs are dwindling, the Democrats are salivating to raise taxes yet again, and those who live on Social Security or retirement plans are wondering if there will be money there for them in a short while!

But God is on His throne, none of this is a surprise to Him, and He has a plan to see a great revival in these end times.  May all of here play a part in that plan!

Our nation has been blessed by God from its inception because it was founded on the Word, and on the proposition that all men are created equal.  The war we are now engaged in will make the great and awful Civil War seem a small thing.  Now is the time to draw near to God and pray for each other, our nation and the world.

I am going to eat with my two Youth Friends at school today, then really need to go spend some time with Beth.  I have been popping in and out, and she is feeling a little neglected, I think.  After lunch will be a good time, as they put her in her recliner after lunch, and she can't do much else but watch TV (or visit with Mom.)   ;)

It has been pretty warm for this time of year here, but today the wind is blowing, so that might bring a change in the weather.

May each of you be blessed today!

Amen Janet.  I was listening to the news today, (I don't often,) and they said the forcast is for a world wide resession for the first 6 months in the new year, but that the last 6 months will bring improvement in the economy.  Also the USA will lead the rise and end of the resession.  So with whatever that means I say "Even so COME Lord Jesus!".

AMEN to what Janet said.

It's clear, sunny and cold here this morning.  Was 31 degrees when I got up.  So, our storm has passed.  This would be a good day for me to go shooting outdoors since the winds will have blown out all the smoke and smog from our valley.  My trouble breathing may keep me from doing so, though.

Hubby and youngest daughter are off four-wheeling in our Jeep today.  Hope they don't get stuck in the mud from all the rain we've had lately.  My eldest daughter and myself will be doing a little cleaning around the house and go to lunch and probably play a few hands of Skip Bo.

GOOD NEWS!  Contrary to what the liberal news media would have us believe, we are not in a recession here in the USA; at least not yet.  We haven't even had one quarter of negative GDP growth yet, and according to the definition of a recession (http://www.investorwords.com/4086/recession.html), it takes two consecutive quarters of negative GDP growth to be considered a recession.  Unfortunately, the liberal news media is all doomsday, hype and lies in order to further their own agenda and have us think otherwise.  They want us to think things are as bad as possible and that we can't survive without the "help" of big brother!  I suggest in addition to praying and trusting in the Lord, (and yes, Praise the Lord that He's still on His throne!) that we all turn off the liberal news and listen to conservative talk radio and do our own research to be informed on what's really going on in the country/world.  Okay, that's it for my soap box for now.

Have a great Friday and a great weekend, everyone!  :)

Kathleen, I never watch the mainline media news shows!  UGH.  And even though we watch/listen to conservative news, I still sometimes think we might be better off not even hearing any of it.  But wouldn't that be akin to burying our heads in the sand?  "The only thing necessary for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing."  I know I don't have the answers!

Well, I went to spend some time with Beth, and she was gone to the doctor's office.  So.....another time, I guess.

Did all of you hear about the awful attack of those homosexuals and lesbians on a church in East Lansing last Sunday morning, right during their worship services?  Horrible.

Another week almost gone....time seems to be zooming past!  A cool day here on the island, no rain for a change.  Had my flu shot yest. and as per usual, feel slightly ill.  So does my daughter.  Guess we fall into the small group who have a reaction to the shot.

I read on the internet about the church Janet mentioned.  Not good.  My 'long lost' friend told me that her oldest son is gay.  He is a brilliant man, law prof. and dean of a large university in another country.  Left the US when his partner of many years, decided to end their relationship.  When she told me this, I tried to dance around the subject.  We are both religious and know what the Bible states.  The children were raised Catholic.  Can not bear to say anything that will cause her pain.  She has always been close to him....more than their other son.  All one can do is be kind and pray for all of them.  It is not something that this person has ever really understood.

Guess I will NOT go and watch the B. Walters program about the man who had his own baby.  Now that should really confuse me and many others.  Why do they give this sort of thing air time?  I saw a clip and it made me feel like we are living on another planet now... :ticked:

Pleasant Evening/Day and God Bless.

CHANGE NOT THY FAITH WITH CHANGING TIMES

Janet

Liz, I sure understand how you feel.  And I also know how hard it is to skirt the issue of homosexuality, especially in one's own family.  We have one who has chosen that awful way, and when I tried to speak the truth in love, in the most careful way I could, he cut me out of his life completely; told me never to write or speak to him again.  My response was that he could do that, but he could not keep me from praying for him.

On our news last night, they showed the sign outside a church in Wichita, on which the pastor had put:  America now has a Muslim president.  This is a sin before God.  Wow!  I'm sure the ACLU will be all over that!

I am going to the library today to work on scrapbooks.

Jane, I will email you my report.  It's a bit long, but Darrel read it and pronounced it "pretty good."  That's high praise, from him! ;)

I will check back later to see if anyone else is interested in reading about our trip.  I have included quite a lot of information about the churches in Eastern Europe.

Hi everyone.  Janet, please put me on the list for those interested in your trip report.

While I was at coffee a few minutes ago Pat called me to tell me our daughter is back in the hospital and may have had another heart attack during the night.  Her enzymes are elevated and they are going to do another cath on Monday.  They couldn't take her to the hospital where she has health care, i.e. Grady, as it was full so took her to the hospital across the street from where she lives.  So she will have another $40,000 bill at least.  The positive thing is that they don't refuse the care she needs even though she will never be able to pay the bill.  This is the 5th or 6th heart attack she has had and she seemed to be doing well after the heart surgery.

We have been planning to go to Florida on Tuesday.  Right now our plans are in limbo and we won't make a final decision until the cath is done and we know what the situation with her is.

As far as I know now we won't go to the hospital today as there is nothing we can do.  She was suppose to see a doctor regarding her disability application on Monday so obviously that must be rescheduled.

I know she would and we, as her parents, certainly would appreciate saying a prayer for her.

Larry, I too am sorry to learn of your daughter's latest heart attack.  I know this concerns you and Pat so much, and is frightening for your daughter as well.  I will pray for all of you, that she has a good outcome from the cath on Monday.  Sometimes I guess it must feel like life is a delicate balance and we never know what we will be faced with next.  Thank the Lord that He is in total control and we can trust in His care and love for us.

God bless today.

Larry ~ So sorry to hear of Stacy having another heart attack.  I know you and Pat are very concerned as well as Stacy.

Janet ~ Put me on your list.  I love traveling through others  words.

I am one that doesn't watch the news.  I believe I would be so depressed if I watched the news every day.  I do know there are a lot of businesses closing so beware if you purchase Gift Cards for loved ones for Christmas presents this year.  The businesses may not be available when they want to redeem them.

It sure is raining here today and cold.  May even turn to snow later.  Brrrr and Grrrrr!  Not much happening today here.  Just staying in and keeping warm and dry.  Plan to do some mending later on the sewing machine and then some crocheting.  Is anyone else crocheting on their afghan?

Larry, as others have expressed their concerns, I also want to let you know I am praying for Stacey as well as you and Pat ... this has to be a pretty rough road for you (all) to travel.  I know our Father has everything in control ... He will hold you steady until the storm passes by.   :)
Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass .... it's about learning to dance in the rain!

[b :)  Larry:  I am so sorry to here about your daughter and that she has had an other heart attack I do hope that there is something that they can find when they  check her on Monday.  We will remember you all.

:)  Janet:  Please put me on your list and my email address is on my profile. It sounds like a trip you will never forget.

My wife and I are continuing to have doctors appointments and it seems to get to a point that you just get fed up going as they don't give you any good answers.  We know that our Heavenly Father is in control and he looks after us.

We hope that you all have a wonderful weekend and a great day in the Lord's house. <3  Gord and Noreen

We have been working on the house today.  was sweeping the fascia along the front, cutting back some overgrown ferns. etc. wE are going to do some painting this afternoon.

I took a pretty bad fall done the back step  yesterday, good thing Keith was right there. It was after Jane brought me back from the Nursing home where we sang yesterday.  We were going done the stairs to get wood to bring in for a fire when  slipped on the step and went done on my behind pretty hard. I am OK though thank you Jesus.

This evening we are going to eat homemade Mexican dinner of Chicken Enchiladas, Spanish rice and Refried beans.

Well I better get off the computer and get busy.

Hi everyone.  It is certainly much cooler, but sunny, here in Georgia.  However, it is that time of the year where we have to expect colder weather.

Pat spoke with our daughter a little while ago and she had another episode of chest pain during the night.  They will definitely do the cath tomorrow sometime as the doctor is concerned that the bypass may have blocked up.  Thank you all for the prayers as they are certainly appreciated.  God is in control of this situation and I am trying not to worry as he has seen her through so many of these problems these last couple of years.

I have to go to church early today to have the chance to practice the Thanksgiving music that we just got Wednesday night.  This will be a joint service with a combined choir from several churches.  I have sung in these choirs the last couple of years and really enjoyed it.  However, we are not singing familiar music so will have to do some work to get ready.  Our director offered to meet with us early today to help us.

We will likely go out to lunch today with our church friends and then spend a quiet rest of the day.

Marilyn, glad you were not hurt in the fall.  I expect you will be feeling it today.

Janet

Happy Sunday, everybody!

We had our Thanksgiving/Christmas dinner after church today.  I took a plate up to the home and fed Beth.  It was good, of course!  8)

Larry, so sorry to hear of Stacey's current problems.  I will keep praying for all of you there.  I'm glad you are trying not to worry, and know the only way that is possible is through trusting in God.  You cannot worry and trust at the same time.

I will now email my trip report to the ones of you who have asked.  Hope you enjoy it.

Janet thank you for the report from your trip it is very interesting and I will read it again.

My rear end is not as sore today as  yesterday but the bruise if horribly dark purple and large.  I will be leaving here in the morning to head on home to my doggies. I called yesterday to see how they were doing they are fine, I sure do miss them when I am away from home.

Keith is doing some touch up painting on the house today and I am doing  what ever I see than needs doing, like bringing in wood for the fire place m, feeding the cat, peeling the potatoes for supper tonight etc.

Thank you, Janet, for your trip report.  Very interesting.  Something there for everyone!

A very busy day with church and then us ladies ate at Texas Roadhouse.  Ivalou and I went back to Noblesville once we got home to do some shopping for Thanksgiving and our Secret Sisters.

I got home and made a Thanksgiving card for my Secret Sister and got her package already to take Thursday night when I got to a Projection Team meeting.  Then I printed a photo and framed it for one of my classmates.  Her husbands picture and his '57 Chevy was on display at the Visitors Center in Anderson, Indiana.  After 60 Chix I went there and asked if I could take a picture of the picture.  She said she couldn't give me permission but turned to leave the area and said 'Have a good day!!' and winked.  So I took several pictures of the picture.  So now it is printed and framed for a surprise for Jayne!

It sure gets dark early since changing the time, doesn't it?

Now that it is dark early, it is time for a new area to post for the week of November 16.  It is all clean and sparkly here.
