JennyW: Hello Everyone! Just checking in to see if anyone wants to get this group going again! Hope all is well where ever you live! 2024-08-14, 08:21:59

Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Welcome to CP, Betty!  Glad you jumped right in here!  We will be glad to get to know you better.

Today is the day for me to get the crown prep but then it was two weeks ago also.  That day I came home without a bridge and later had a tooth removed.  So hopefully today I will get the crown prep and have a temporary crown that I can chew on.

Oh, yes!  Abigail Kay was born last evening at 7:36pm.  She weighed 9lbs and 1oz.  Lots of dark hair.  She is welcomed in the world by Mom Angie, Dad Matt and big brother, Eli.  This is a new g-g-niece for me!

It looks like a lovely day out today.  Not a puffy white thing in the sky!  The sun is shining but it is cold....

Welcome Ed!  I see you are in Michigan.  It must be close to winter weather now - I live near Denver.  Our 50th. is next year.  Congrats on your 51 years!

Welcome Betty  Nice to see your post.

Janet:  The cold temperatures mean fewer tourists - it sounds like you are one of the river cruises.  Eat more chocolate.

Ruth Ann:  Hockey is like a ballet on ice.  Predators is a scarey name for the opposition.  Enjoy - I have three sons and one tomboy daughter so hockey was forced on me.

Larry:  Glad you dodged the tornadoes.  Question:  can you download the free ebooks from the library - the free Kindle books?

Marilyn:  I took a quick look at your site.  The picture is of a lovely woman looking serene.

I have a huge list of things to do.  Why are these holidays so close?   Canadians know how to do it with an earlier Thanksgiving when weather is decent.

Janice

Larry, I signed in to see if you and Pat are OK.  Heard about the storms on last night's news.
Sure glad to see that you are OK.
Have a good day!  Janice
This is the day the Lord has made, we will rejoice and be glad in it.   Ps 118:24

Ruth Ann Bice

Well, Larry, I wasn't too far from being correct. Some of the areas in our viewing area really DID have some snow flurries last night and this morning!

I'm looking forward to this weekend. Y'all may remember the time I recounted being in a gathering where a friend of mine gave a ringing testimony about how Christian music had brought her back to Christ.

Well, this same lady and her grandchildren need to visit with their great grandmother who longs to see them so much she's been crying about this. Well, little Josie's thinking she'll feel so happy carrying a cargo of happy family members to see a loved one.

So, likely I'll be away for a couple of days, but know I'll be thinking of you and praying for the requests.

Now, I ask that you, in turn, pray that our Father will grant us safety and a good visit with this sweet lady.

Love to all of y'all,
Ruth Ann

Thanks for all of the welcomes from people. That's very encouraging.
I live in Ontario, and have been enjoying looking at the snow today, even though it makes driving challenging. I'm often driving in my job, and was thankful I only had to go to my office today.

Hi, Betty, I've never been afraid to drive in snow, even though down here in Tennessee, the snow we get normally starts out as freezing rain which turns to snow. This often causes power outages and the slick conditions make driving on Nashville's hilly terrain pretty difficult.

So, now that I'm retired, I choose to enjoy the warmth of my apartment instead of endangering life and limb trying to go somewhere. :)

Retirement is certainly wonderful. It's so great to be able to choose whether to go or to stay without worrying about endangering my position at work. Now, I still work for one of my managers, but I do the work on my computer at home, the transmit to him via e-mail.

Y'all have a great evening with our Lord.

The suggestion has been made that we get a group of people to call Al each day.  That way contact doesn't have to be by one person and he gets to hear from someone daily.

Is that clear as mud?

At any rate if you would be willing to call Al Moak please let me know.  The more people that are involved the better for him.  At this point we have 3 ready to go, if we have more than 7 it would be less than one call per person a week.

If there is a change in phone number, we could leave the new number in Prayer and Praise in the Pray for Al thread.  What do you all think.  Oh and this wasn't my idea....I'm pretty brain dead about thinking of these things!!!

Have a great evening and God bless.

Janet

I read all the posts yesterday, but when I tried to reply, we had sailed too far from a tower and had no connection.  Today we are in Bonn, Germany, and the signal is strong!

Yes, Carol, we are on The Romance of the Rhine and Mosel river cruise, and also took both the pre trip in Bruges and the Post trip in Lucerne, thus the three weeks.  So far, it's been great.  There are 128 guests on board, along with a crew of 43, I think they said.  They sure know how to take care of people!  Spoiling us rotten!   ;)

This morning we went on a walking tour of Bonn.  Probably walked around two miles or so.  Very interesting.  The Christmas Market opened today, but I didn't shop!  We were told there will be several more Christmas markets along the way, so no hurry, even should I decide to buy a little something.  But after having to move everything we own, we think we already have too much stuff!

I am so glad to have email contact with people at home.  John has emailed me twice, and he tells Beth what I write him.  Also, my sister Shirley is keeping in touch.  I love it!

My watch says time for lunch......surely wouldn't want to miss a meal!   ;)  I will need to fast for weeks when we get home!  So much wonderful food, presented in such attractive ways!

TTYL!

I'm peeking in here early today. So, not much to report except a very cold 28 degrees.

May our Lord bless all of us according to His will today.

Hi everyone.  Yesterday turned out to be a very busy one and a rather frustrating one as well.  I did stay home yesterday, which was nice.  I did receive my Comcast modem and router so I installed them and all seemed to be going well until late afternoon when Pat could no longer get on her desktop computer.  I then went back and changed the router setting and got them messed up until none of the computers could access the Internet.  I called the Comcast help line and the man got me back online.  However, the wireless adapter card on Pat's computer isn't compatible with the new router so this morning will acquire an updated USB Adapter and she should be back in business.  I also worked with the Kindle Fire yesterday downloading new programs and getting used to how it works.  I really like it.  Today I am going to go have some blood drawn, stop for the adapter card at BestBuy, and then there is our ROMEO's luncheon at 11:30 at Longhorns.  That will be plenty for the day.

Etta Sue, hope you were able to get the crown prep done yesterday.  Congrats to the new great great aunt as well as all of the others.  A new birth in the family is always a wonderful occasion.

Carol, yes I have downloaded a couple of e-books from our local library using the Overdrive app.  Since I just got the actual Kindle I have not tried to download directly to that application but the library site indicates that is possible.

janice, we are fine and don't think our immediate area was in danger, although the town about 4 miles North of us was under a warning for awhile.

Ruth Ann, it sounds like you have another act of service to others planned to help the lady and her grandchildren visit the great grandmother.

Betty, glad you don't have to drive very far if there is snow.

Janet, what a great experience you all are having.  This is certainly a nice break from your many responsibilities at home.

I can chew again!  I was in the chair over 2 hours with my mouth wide open.  It is usually open but not that wide!!

Then I went to Taco Bell for lunch.  It felt good to chew again and it not hurt.  I was still a little numb though.

I got comfy when I got home and Ivalou called around 3:30pm and wanted to know if I would like to go to the movies.  As soon as Betty finds out the time, she was calling Ivalou back.  4pm!!  So I got dressed again and went to Ivalou's.  Marge, Betty, Ivalou and I saw 'Footloose'.  I like this version better than the first Footloose movie.  I recognized more of the actors.

Then we went to Steak and Shake for a bite to eat.  And back home again.  A great diversion to sitting at home watching the TV.

This morning Ivalou and I are going to the pool.  I don't have anywhere else to stop other than maybe gas if it is still $3.20 or below.  I want to bake my cornbread today for my Cornbread Salad for Sunday dinner at church.  Edit:  The phone just rang and Ivalou isn't going this morning.  Said she didn't think it was what she wanted to do today!  So I am going by myself.

That's it, Folks!

Jeanne Lee

Etta Sue, I wish I had half your energy!   :D  I'm glad your tooth problem seems to be solved.

Chilly here and this morning everything was dusted with white.  That's disappearing in the sun, though.

Wednesday night was a total "J" night and yesterday evening was supposed to be a meeting, 35 or 40 miles from here.  That meant all the last minute finance reports that can't be done until after the mail comes had to be brought up to date - and three different sets of figures have to agree.  And after not sleeping I wasn't exactly at my sharpest!   :(  So a good bit of the day was spent doing that.

Then about a half hour before I planned on leaving the house I got a call from the gal who does all the night driving that she was going to the hospital (I didn't quite catch why, but prayers for Susie are of course welcome) and not to the meeting.  So no meeting after all - emailed a copy of my final report to another member in hopes I'd catch her before she left.  And then turned in early, and was able to catch up on at least some of my lost sleep.

Today I need to do some grocery shopping - being out of milk and bread is definitely not acceptable!   ;D

Trying to awaken from a little nap.  A sciatica problem is forcing me to take Ibuprofen and that in turn is making me sleepy.  Strong wind warnings are up again later on today.  I have been clearing out and cooking everything frozen in sight because the refrigerator in the garage needs to be shut down - everything freezes out there anyway.  Can't have eggs freezing.

Larry:  Don has a note into the place that sold him an inexpensive eReader as he has not been able to put  Overdrive on it.  Let me know if your Kindle will handle the Overdrive - a lot of sites say it won't work without buying another thingy.

Janet: We had the river tour on the Amadeus Princess.   I really like the idea of a small transport with fewer people & our food was great as well.

Jeanne:  I hope you have your milk and bread now.  Sleep well.   Have some hot milk with nutmeg sprinkled on top before you go to bed.  You can add a little honey too.

What is the latest news on Al?  Does anyone know how long he will be in rehab?

Jeanne Lee

Carol, I do have my milk and bread.  And a few other things - to the tune of $50!     Thanks for the advice on getting to sleep tonight  :)

I have spoken to Pat tonight.  We had a nice chat, will do so more tomorrow.  Pat thinks it is a wonderful idea to have someone call AL each day.  Thank you Ruth Ann for that suggestion.

John is heading out from Guelph (5 hours south of home) tomorrow morning.  He will have been gone for 2 weeks by the time he gets home next weekend.  You know the saying, "If mama ain't happy ain't nobody happy!"?  Well Mama ain't happy about this.  Unfortunately there is nothing to be done about it.  Unfortunately he will be getting into the weather, and with a trainee no less.  Oh well, he's done that before and we survived it!.

Big day for me tomorrow.  I must be off and soon head for bed.

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  My nice and slow day yesterday turned out to be quite busy and also a bit frustrating.  After coffee I went immediately to Kaiser to have a blood test and it was a pretty long wait.  However, I did get home at the time that Pat needed the car.  Shortly after my friend picked me up and we went to a nice lunch at Longhorns.  I came home and rested until about 3 pm.  My son called to talk about some health insurance he had found and yesterday was the last day he could be insured as his COBRA had run out.  I helped him get that set up.  Then I called my friend and went to his house and got a USB network adapter for Pat's computer that he gave me.  That was when the problems started and after about 2 1/2 hours on the phone with my son helping me we finally got it installed and her computer back on line.  Then I had to get her laptop back online but that didn't take very long.  It was then time to call it a night.  Today should just be a routine Saturday with a couple of things this morning and then watching some football this afternoon and evening.

Etta Sue, always good to be able to chew without pain.  I can relate to that 2 hours in the dental chair with your mouth wide open and your jaws getting so tired.  I hadn't heard of this movie you saw yesterday but I don't follow movies very much.

Jeanne, what a busy day you had getting your reports done.  I am treasurer of two separate groups and for one of them I have several reports to be before each meeting.  I have one more year and then my term will be up.

Carol, do hope your sciatica is feeling better today.  When I first got my Pandigital e-book reader a year or more ago it wouldn't work with the library but know that the Overdrive now covers many other types of readers.  We haven't tried to download one from the library but did try to find the Overdrive application in the app store.  It may be that has to be downloaded directly from the library site.  I just haven't had time to check that out.

Judy, that is a long time for John to be gone.

Etta Sue

I am sitting here at the front window watching a big John Deere with 8 wheels on it plowing the field across from me.  It isn't exactly plowing but I know it isn't disking!  Most tractors any more have GPS systems in them and that is how the farmers get such straight rows.  The only time the farmer puts his hands on the steering wheel is when turning at the end of the field.  I noticed that either the rows of the beans that was there or this time doing whatever he is doing isn't the same.  One is angled with the world more than the other.  I guess he knows what he is doing.  Would love to ride in the cab with him.

The pool was great yesterday and then I went to the grocery for items for Thanksgiving dinner.  Jumped ahead of the rush!

Today I am waiting on a neighbor boy, Jeremiah, to come do some yard work.  I have hibiscus and butterfly bushes that needs cut down and taken to the woods.  I have leaves I want blown or raked off my deck and rock landscaping.  It shouldn't take him very long but it is too cold for me out there and my back wouldn't like it.  Also there are some limbs blown from some trees that needs picked up and taken to the woods.  I wish this wind would die down.  That's what makes it so cold!

And today I want to put my Cornbread Salad together for our Harvest Dinner at church tomorrow.  I have to remember I have to fast tomorrow night for a blood draw Monday morning!!

Good morning.  Brisk this morning but supposed to get back up around 50 the next couple of days before the next cool down.

Larry, I had planned on leaving this treasurer job this year, but the current president, in the last of her two year limit begged me to stay on.  Since she's a good friend (and my driver) I gave in.  But I've warned everyone to be looking for someone else because this is definitely my last year.  Next year's president has already started pleading, but this time I'm standing firm!

Hey!  I'm back online!!  We just docked at Bernkastle, Germany.  There is a castle up on the hill that is all lit up, and appears to be just hanging up there in the dark sky.  Beautiful.  We are on the Mosel river now, and today passed through the Mosel valley, with vineyards on the hills on both sides of the river for miles and miles....really picturesque!  We toured a castle today and I took so many pictures!  Wow.  I love historical old places so much.

We didn't have internet last night or all day today until docking here, so thought I would check in again.

Carol, I am eating more chocolate---also marzipan!!  YUM!  ::)

Tonight the captain told us all about the technical stuff on the ship, had a power point presentation; also showed us photos of his family.  He's a young fellow, has a wife and 5 year old son.

Talk to you tomorrow!

Hey, wake up!  It is already 8:30!   Oh...probably not where you are, though!   ;)

We are going on another walking tour through the town, then to a wine cellar for a wine tasting (too bad I don't really care for wine, huh?)  Then to yet another Christmas market.  Fun day, as every one has been.

It's nice I can keep up with all your posts here, that way I won't be so far behind when I get home.

Off to yet another new adventure!!

I did get something constructive done yesterday.  I printed two of my calenders AND designed and printed my Christmas Cards for 2011.

And Jeremiah did a terrific job yesterday morning in the yard.  His father is a landscaper by profession so he used all the big equipment.  My rock landscaping is probably cleaner that it has been for years!

I am ready for church and will be gone in a few minutes.  But I will be back this afternoon after the Harvest Dinner at church.

Janet

It seems to be a slow Sunday here on CP.

I just got back from walking to the town of Bernkastel again.  It is all decorated for Christmas, looks so festive.  The lady with me asked if it would embarrass me if she sang in church (we were in a huge cathedral, and the only ones in there at that moment.)  Of course I said no, and that I would love to hear her sing, so she sang The Lord's Prayer, and it was so beautiful!  The acoustics are so good in those old churches....so I feel as if I have been to church today, after all!

Perfect weather today, nippy but not windy, and the sun is shining, so I am a happy traveler.  I started to write camper, but I'm not camping!  ;)

Hi everyone.  In a few minutes we will head to church and then out to lunch somewhere.  That is all that is planned for today.  Nothing special yesterday other than Georgia University winning their football game and assuring they will be in the Southeastern Conference playoffs in two weeks.

Jeanne, there comes a time when "no" just has to be a complete sentence and we do what is best for us.  Someone else is always able to takeover.

Janet, thanks for checking in for Bernkastle, Germany.  Never seen a posting from there before.  What a nice thing for your friend to do.

Marilyn

Hello everyone, and to our happy traveler I say Good Evening. You are 8 hours from where I am so it is evening where you are.

The sun is so beautiful today,  what a change from yesterday which was cold and wet. Keith had to make several trips to the  small room yesterday, I think it was some kind of 24 hour things that I hope I do not get.

Happy Sunday everyone.

Hope everyone is having a good Sunday. We enjoyed a good message about the Lord coming back, and how we as Christians have the hope of His return and the hope of us seeing our loved ones who have gone on to be with Christ. It was very uplifting and encouraging.
Our snow came and went. Apparently it may be freezing rain tomorrow.
Thank you everyone, for making me feel welcome.

Carol

Happy Sunday!  After church we went to Panera's for coffee and bagel and read the only newspaper from the city.  It is so anti-religious and other anti common sense that I was shocked to read a big article on giving thanks instead of going shopping and just being grateful.  Stores here are actually opening on Thanksgiving day - now what is so important that anyone has to go to a hobby shop for junk from overseas on our formerly national holiday?

The bread machine is set for a Nutmeg whole wheat bread and if it turns out alright I will sling it over to a neighbor.  We called our two nieces in Fort Worth.  One was not home so we will try once again.

Betty:  Freezing rain is terrible and no one wants to drive on those streets.  We love our sermons too and it is such a large church so we intentionally go to the 7:30 AM service in a beautiful chapel.  Much more quiet and hubby can hear with the special microphone to ear apparatus.  Do you know Pat and Judy B?  I noticed you are from a spot close to where they live.

Etta Sue

Church was awesome as usual.  It is always great to be in His house on Sunday and worshipping Him.  Our sermon was on Psalm 100 where it tells us of the behaviors of those living lives of thanksgiving.

Then we had Sunday School with the lesson being about Abraham and Sarah and their newborn son, Isaac.

Then everyone went to the basement for an all-church Harvest Dinner.  Like I said to someone...I haven't put a thing in my mouth at one of these dinners that I had to spit or or couldn't swallow!!  Great food.

And if my blood draw doesn't give good numbers tomorrow, I will blame it on the dinner today!  What great cooks!
