JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Another day has flown past!  I spent time with my Father this morning, then my hairdresser called to ask if I could come in a half-hour earlier--yes--so got my hair done.  Then I mailed my passport renewal forms, as have to renew before the next trip.  Cost has risen from $80 two years ago when Darrel renewed his, to $110 this year!  :o  This may be my last renewal, as in ten years when I need to renew again, I will be 86.  Maybe by then I will be content to only travel in the US.  However, those river cruises are pretty easy!  ;)

I drove over to Hugoton and took my sweet daughter Diane to lunch, then went on to Hooker and had a pedicure and a manicure.  That huge salon was really busy today!!

Diane was asking what our plans are for Thanksgiving.  Whew!  It is coming fast!

Larry, I know you have said many times how much you loved your Grandma.  How I wish I could have taken some of my grandkids on a trip.  It has just never worked out for us to do that.  They are usually busy all the time

I have to go to town and straighten out a bill at the drug store the care home was supposed to pay, for Beth's eye drops.  They didn't pay it, now say I have to.  GRRR!!!  She has four different insurances, surely one of them should pay for those!  I was hoping not to have to go to town at all tomorrow.

Carol, I hope your hubby's nose heals well with no problems.  It's so good to have you home and back in here with us!

Ruth Ann, always good to read about your days, too!

Jeanne, how are you doing today?

See you all later!

Hello All!  Wondered today if CP was still up and going and sure enough you all are up and going!!

Me?  Hanging in there.  No hospital visits this year.  Ivalou is doing fine....her stroke was 7 years ago.  She just got a new GGrandson...Rowen Jeffrey.  He was born on his Mother's birthday, October 26th.

Kaye Don and Barb are in Florida which is their home address now.  She still has health issues but will probably out live us all.

Tony and Charlene are great.  He bought a new Harley this summer.  Her brother and his wife, Tony and Charlene are spending their weekends going on their cycles to county seats...taking selfies with their cycles and the courthouse in the background.  92 counties in Indiana.  They've been to 43 since Aug 21.  Charlene has 7 grandchildren now.

Ali Cat is 15½ years old.  She is learning new things since I had to have Inky put to sleep in July.  Ali Cat is so much more loving now and even laid on my lap the first time this week!

I have a male friend since a year ago August.  Actually we met in the third grade.  He went to high school in Noblesville and I went to Lapel.  After both of us got married, divorced, married and widow(ed), we met again, 57 years later last August 30th.  He's a great companion but not marriage material!!  His name is Bob.

My friend Kitty has been going through esophogeal cancer.  Chemo, radiation, surgery to remove her esophagus, using half of her stomach to make a new esophagus, pic lines, now her 4th feeding tube and now an ulcer on her new esophagus.  She still can't eat anything by mouth...it come back up.  The feeding tube goes into her intestines and sometimes that comes back up also.  She got an endoscopy yesterday that discovered the ulcer.  Visiting nurse today told her to not eat by mouth until the ulcer is healed.  How will they know?  So prays would be welcome for Kitty.  She's been battling all this since March.

Nice to read your posts but I won't comment on them tonight.  Just wanted to say hello and let you know I am fine and dandy!!

Hi everyone on a beautiful Saturday morning here in North Augusta.  We will once again be in the low 80's this afternoon.  Pat got up before I did this morning and prepared her own breakfast for the first time in almost 3 months.  It was a pleasant change.  I thought I was coming down with a cold last night as had a very stuffy head on one side but it seems to be back to normal this morning.

Yesterday morning turned into something of a mess when we got downtown for Pat's eye appointment the main street and numerous side streets around where the office was located had been blocked off to get ready for the Halloween festival and parade that is held each year downtown.  We like to never have found a way to get to the parking area for the medical office.  I finally found a way but had to deal with a lot of detoured traffic and narrow alleys.  We were late getting there but she was seen right away.  I was lucky that while I let Pat off at the door someone pulled out of a parking space just ahead of me as there were no other spots in the parking lot.  When we got through it was another struggle to get back to a side street where we could get "out of town".  From there we went to Ruby Tuesday's, which is not in the downtown area, and had a nice lunch.  The rest of the day was enjoyable and restful.

Nothing on tap today other than to watch some football.    I brought down her old computer for her to use from upstairs as her new one is totally unreliable.  I am in a quandary as to what to do but when I am sure it is not working right again, which is an intermittent problem, I will contact the warranty department of COSTCO again and see where that leads.

Carol, there are several of us on these discussions having problems with new laptops.  It must be an epidemic!  :)  Pat's   Toshiba laptop is just over one year old.  It sounds like a lovely drive you all had into the hills.  It wonderful to take in the beauty that God has provided to us in his creation.

Ruth Ann, I highly recommend your using the absentee ballot process as it sure takes away the strain of going to a polling place and probably having to stand in line.  Hope you can have a quieter weekend as you were certainly busy this week.

Pat, that walking in even big stores is really difficult must less a mall when you are in pain or your heart isn't providing enough energy and one wears down so soon.  Hope you have a good trip back to Guelph this next week.

Janet, that is quite a hike in those passport renewal fees in only two years.  I wondered if your next cruise would be a river cruise.  Hope you don't have any hassle about getting the bill for Beth's eye drops straightened out.

Etta Sue, I couldn't believe my eyes when I say your updating posting and sure hope you will continue to post occasionally so we can stay in touch.  It is a good year when we can stay out of the hospital.  Glad you have a special friend as is nice to have someone special with which you can spend time.  Your Ali cat has provided you a lot of company for a long time.  That esophageal cancer sounds horrid and certainly sorry to learn that your friend is having such a miserable time.  Glad you are fine and dandy.  Thanks for posting.

Pat

Hello Everyone!

Here I am in Winchester just resting today after the drive from Williamsburg yesterday.  Paul and I may go down to Belk's store and maybe Walmart later on.  It's a beautiful fall day.

ETTA SUE, what a wonderful surprise to see you posting!  Wow!  Just fantastic.  I so enjoyed your very newsy posts each day when you posted before.  Hopefully we'll get to enjoy them again.

Wow!  What a pleasant surprise to see your post, Etta Sue!  Ditto to what Larry said; also what Pat said!  I have truly missed you in here since you "took a break."  ;)  I hope you will find it pleasant and welcoming so you won't want to go away again!  :)

Larry, I wouldn't want to have to fight that in getting to an office!  It's a good thing we live out here "in the sticks" because I really dislike city driving, and getting worse about it as I get older.  No, our next trip isn't a river cruise, but it is Cruising the Adriatic.  So not on rivers.  We have done several of the River ones and found them very enjoyable.  Lots more people on the ships, but still very nice.  This one is a small ship with only about 35 passengers, if I remember correctly what the info said.

Yes, after getting a rather nasty message from the Social Services lady at the care home yesterday, and stewing a lot over it, I went to town to straighten out the bill for Beth's eye drops---and found it had been resolved!  PTL!  Seems they now have a generic one that the insurance will pay for, and did.  So they delivered her drops to the home yesterday!!  What a relief.

Pat, good to know where you are.  Let us know when you are back in Guelph, please.  Hope you are well enough to continue to enjoy your time in Virginia.  Wish I could visit you there!

I spend entirely too much time on computer lately, and hate myself for doing it!!  I must delete a lot of the contacts that keep overloading my inbox with over 100 emails a day!  Grrrr!

I wish you all a very pleasant evening!

Hi everyone on this Sunday morning.  We expect to see it get to 85 degrees again this afternoon.  I am ready for Sunday School and Church this morning.  I have things ready for Pat's breakfast whenever she decides to get up.  This afternoon or tomorrow I will need to make her another batch of the sausage muffins she likes for breakfast.  She alternates those with scrambled eggs and bacon bit or cut up ham and also will have a little bowl of strawberries or cantaloupe. I have no idea what we will do for lunch but will decide later.  Nothing of note occurred yesterday.  Once again the University of Georgia was beaten in college football by the University of Florida. South Carolina did beat Tennessee so all wasn't lost in with the teams I try to follow.   I will likely watch some pro football this afternoon as the Atlanta Falcons play a late game today.

Pat, do you utilize the electric carts at Walmart?  I don't think that Belk's have them available.  We have a Belk's store and I need to do some shopping there but every time I think about it I decide it can wait until another day.

Janet, Pat's appointment was just scheduled on the wrong day as usually there is absolutely no problem in going anywhere downtown.  We will know to stay away from the Friday and Saturday right before Halloween in scheduling anything right downtown.  I read in the paper yesterday they had an estimated 20,000 people at the event on Friday night and it continued on yesterday.  I was confused about your next trip as you had mentioned the Adriatic and I couldn't quite put it with a river cruise that you were talking about later.  Thanks for straightening that out for me.  That is a small ship if there are only about 35 passengers.  You will have the opportunity to get to know most of the people on the cruise.  Glad the eye drop problem had been taken care of and you didn't have to deal with it.  I have been unsubscribing from a number of newsletters and other things that I am getting in my email.  Once I get to the point of not reading them and just deleting them it is time to unsubscribe.

Good morning from an empty house.  Ken and Alice were both here most of the week.  I've been pretty much away from the computer and I'm waaaaay behind - so I'm not going to try catching up on what's been posted.  If I'm skipping over something I should know, post it again or PM me, ok?

During my last stay in the hospital I had a lot of help cleaning and all sorts of things got either moved around or thrown out.  That's (mostly) great until I can't find something - like my bread recipes when I wanted to make a loaf of bread this morning.   :(

Etta Sue:  It is great to see you posting.  How nice that you have a friend.  I am so sorry to read that Kitty isn't well and pray for her suffering to ease.  Take care of yourself!

Jeanne:  Glad to see you back - I hope you find everything you are missing.  I can miss things that I have put away and forget where it is stashed.  Too easy to do.

Don just went out to put air in the tires - one was quite low this morning.  He has continued to have nosebleeds and of course, one just before time for church today so we will try to get him into the doc to see if anything can be done.  Don wants to head south to Arizona as the altitude is over 3,000 feet - not our 6,500 and that may ease the problem a bit.  So, I am making a list and actually packing some things already.  Still tired from our trip.

We took a batch of biscuits and sausage gravy to our very ill neighbor.  He was almost in-and-out of it upon arriving but loves company so much that he perked up quickly.  He keeps saying thanks for not abandoning him - we are pretty sure that after five years of being ill, many of his friends have given up on visiting.  Makes us feel so sad.  We will miss our wonderful and faithful neighbor and I have wanted to be here to be of some help but Don needs to get to a lower altitude as well.  So - it is what it is.

With the magic of technology, we did watch a hockey game from Minnesota last night.  However, it was so poorly organized with no sound, in other words no one saying which person made the goal, or anything and then the camera never showed the score.  We had to figure it out ourselves - Don gave up but I got to watch my darling #17 play his first on this new team.  He goes to a Christian college.  Sunday mornings, he is happily in church (his choice).

Pat:  Hi!  The malls are not as interesting as they used to be years ago.  Such long walks in there and all those goofy clothes geared for teenagers.  Glad to read that you are out and about these days.  Say hello to Paul!

Jeanne, a few years ago Darrel decided I had too much "junk" and he wanted me to get rid of a lot of it.  So I said, "I'll make a deal with you.  You go through my stuff and get rid of what you don't think I need; and I'll go through yours and get rid of what I don't think you need!"  Boy!  He sure backpedaled in a hurry!     He thought mine was junk, but all of his is "good stuff!"  ;) :D  A few years ago Darrel's sister Dolores' daughter was visiting and decided to organize her mom's recipes.  So she typed them all up neatly and then threw away all those little scraps of paper from magazines and newspapers and boxes.  Now Dolores can't find any of her favorite recipes!   Sometimes help isn't really all that helpful, huh?

Well, the Bengals and the Redskins just tied in overtime!  I had never seen that happen before.  They were playing in London !  Why??

I'm still not used to getting out of church before 10:30!  I told Darrel we could attend another church after we get out!

I would like to see the three little great-grands dressed up for Hallowe'en, but I can ask their Mom to send me photos!  I used to enjoy the little ones coming to my door, but since we live in the country, we haven't had any Trick or Treaters in many years.  I could go to town Monday afternoon and see hundreds of them, as the town sponsors a trick or treat trail for all the kids.  Then most of them don't go out at night, so it's much safer for them.

I came back to say hello to Carol, as we were typing at the same time.  Sorry Don is still having those awful nosebleeds.  :(  I hope the doctor can be of help to him.  You are such a wonderful and caring neighbor--God bless you!

Etta Sue it is so good to see you posting here on CP again, I hope you continue to come back and frequently.

Church was great this morning, I just love Pastor Don and his way of teaching the word. We had a potluck after church today.

Over the next two days I have to do some reading for my hospice class and there are also forms to fill out. We will be having the TB test done on Tuesday.  There are only 3 more classes to attend then graduation. I've been taking freckles to class with me each week and everyone absolutely loves how well she behaves and never leaves my side. No one pets her without asking first if they can after all is is a working dog and is my Service dog.
