Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Hi everyone.  It is another overcast morning and now 55 degrees.  We should get to 73 in the middle of the afternoon.  The schedule is light today with only the Wednesday night dinner at the church and then getting to spend the rest of the evening with Scott.  After Pat's chiropractic appointment late yesterday afternoon we went on to Pizza Hut and had our evening meal.

It was a long night and I stayed with it until about 1:30 pm and then turned off the TV.  When Pat came to bed she told me that Trump had won and the Congress stayed in the hands of the Republicans.  I just hope and pray he will be a good President.

Carol, any 900 miles trip is a long one.  Glad you are safely in Tuscon and can now enjoy your citrus trees and other plants.

Jeanne Lee

Well, it's Donald Trump.  I wasn't in favor of either one and this is the one the Lord allowed to prevail.  So now I can only keep reminding myself that God is always in control.  I have a feeling that things will not be boring.

This morning started off with rain and is now just cloudy and chilly.  It's expected to be clear and cold tonight, but tomorrow should be sunny with the temperature up to near 60o.

Jeanne Lee:  We did vote - we knew too much about the wild days of politics when we lived in north Texas and could not forgive the real bully attitude from the neighboring state - the two main characters.    This will certainly be a different government.  It is still pretty warm here in Tucson but nights are clear and chilly.

I am trying to remember my dressing recipe for we are invited to a Thanksgiving meal.  It is always made in the largest crock pot and takes two loaves of dried bread to start.  We went to exercise and shower at the gym this morning - it means I don't have to clean our shower today :).  But - there is still a lot of cleaning anyway even though we thoroughly go through the place and cover furniture when we leave.  The yard looks good - I am used to not having grass here.  A great saving on water.  There is a drip system for shrubs and a little for trees - especially the fruit trees.  All the fruit trees are small and young so they are easy to handle now but it gets to be a real job when the trees grow too large - people beg you to climb a ladder and pick fruit.  Can you imagine?

Now to set up my sewing.  It was nice to take a break and check in with all of you.

James 5:16b "The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much." {KJV}

PRAYERS MUST CONTINUE FOR OUR COUNTRY! Now is not the time to say, "Whew! Our prayers have been answered and now we can go on about our lives." We not only must THANK God for answered prayer, but we MUST live for Him whatever He has for each of us to do for His purpose, His will, His pleasure, His honour and His glory!

Hi everyone.  The sun is shining brightly with a clear sky this morning.  It is currently about 48 degrees here and will only get up to about 70 degrees this afternoon. I plan on going to coffee this morning and making a stop at the Credit Union either before or after.  Our minister couldn't be at the church this morning so will not be attending the Wisdom group as I normally do on Thursdays.  We had an enjoyable evening with Scott.  He came out an hour or so before we needed to go to dinner so had a little extra time with him.

Jeanne, I think you are correct that things will probably not be boring the next four years.

Carol, that sounds like a big recipe of dressing but sure it must be very good.

Marilyn

Good late morning, Where is Janet, I've seen her posting on Facebook but not here.

Not much new here just trying to get on with life after the election. and wondering what kind of presidency Donald Trump will present to us. BHow it will affect us etc

Hi everyone.  It looks like we will be having a mixture of sun and clouds today with it getting up to about 73 degrees.  There is a wildfire advisory out due to the lack of rain during the last month and unusually low humidity of 15 to 25%.  I woke up at 5:30 this morning, laid there awhile and realized I wasn't going to fall back asleep so picked up my iPhone and started readings for today, including the discussion boards.

Pat has a Chiropractic appointment late this morning and I will go over to COSTCO to pick up my glasses and get a couple of things for lunch tomorrow, when we will have two friends visiting for the day and we decided to have lunch here rather than to go out.  I will get some of the delicious chicken salad and croissants and something for dessert.  Not sure what else Pat will want me to fix for the meal.  We may eat out at noon after Pat's appointment this morning.

We have been enjoying watching a new Netflix series called "The Crown" that is about the early years of Queen Elizabeth's life and assuming the throne.

Marilyn, I hope all is well with Janet and all of our other folks or guests stopping by.  If you are a guest it is easy to register (no cost) and join the conversation.

Carol

Janet may be on a trip.  Hope so.

I won't be making my dressing recipe because the lady having us has bought it.  Cannot imagine where and why dressing can be bought.  IT is frozen.

A cartoon was sent to us showing Canadians building an ice block fence trying to keep out US citizens.  A light moment.  So sad about people being attacked for their views.  The schools should expel these violent acts of students.

Don really is doing well in this lower altitude.  We have seen a few hummingbirds but no quail yet.   I spent some time oiling my sewing machine and setting everything up to sew the quilt fabric that is cut and ready to go.  Also, paid dues for Genealogy club and mostly chatting with neighbors and checking on an elderly friend as she may pass any day now.  Hospice is in charge.  We are so priveleged to know her.   Once a young widow with five sons to raise and she dug in and went to get her masters in education.   A good and faithful servant who now waits for heaven.

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone on another beautiful morning.  We had some smoke yesterday from the wild fires in several surrounding States but it appears to have cleared away this morning.  Pat had good news from her Chiropractor yesterday.  He feels that progress has been made and it is now time to maintain it with just a once-a-month treatment and he will do the next three appointments without additional cost to us, which was really a surprise.  I think the conclusion is that she is just about as good as it is likely to be for her but we can always hope for further improvement.  She has exercises to do daily and to continue to use the ice as needed.

Today we are excited to have two dear friends visit us from where we moved from.  We are so looking forward to the visit.  We will just have a light lunch here with the chicken salad on croissants as the main item and then I got this huge pumpkin pie from COSTCO yesterday so will have that for dessert.  I will fix a vegetable plate to go with the sandwiches. I did talk with Scott yesterday and he was feeling back to normal.

Carol, nice to read that Don is doing better since you got to Tuscon.  Your friend now in Hospice care sounds like quite a lady and has had an interesting life.

Carol

Larry, good news for the easing of some of Pat's pain!  It is always nice to have good friends visit.

We have been watching our marvelous moon glow brighter every night.  Sunday and Monday nights are going to be spectacular.  Thank you Lord!

Marilyn

We are attending a funeral today for Keith's sons Maternal grandfather. Going to support his sons.

Carol

Larry, we started watching The Crown as well.  It is so interesting and the background of church, palace, etc. is a treat to follow.

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  I awoke to a surprising forecast of 80% chance of rain this morning and a high temperature of 47.  It appears we had at least a trace of rain last night.  We had a wonderful visit with our two good friends from where we used to live.  It is a 2 1/2 hour drive each way and they were only able to stay a little over 2 hours but we used every minute of it in good conversation.  It seemed they had no sooner arrived than it was time for them to head home as they didn't want to drive after dark. I was sure glad we decided to eat in rather than go out.  Today is Sunday School and church and nothing else planned for the day.

Marilyn, I am sure Keith's sons   appreciated you and Keith being there to support them.

Carol, I have come away from watching The Crown feeling that all of that power and wealth brought a lot of unhappiness.  It was shocking to learn that the Queen had not received much of an education and admired her tenacity to be tutored to broaden her education.  It appears that Prince Phillip played a tough role but certainly has been by the Queen's side and the Queen has been ever faithful to her ceremonial duties.  I think we have only one more hour to watch.  I read that it cost around $100 million dollars to make this series.  I sure hope they continue with this series as they did with Downton Abbey.

Janet

Janet is here!   :) :D ;D  She just got dumped by those computer gremlins again and has been so busy she didn't sort it out until now!  I wish we were on a trip, and will do more traveling in 2017.  I got my new passport in the mail yesterday, so I'm good to go!

I think everyone is relieved the election is over, even those who are so upset over the outcome.  At least we aren't being bombardedd with those awful negative ads on TV every time we turn it on!

Personally, I feel our country has been given a reprieve, another chance to do things much better, and try to heal our land.  That is God's promise, and I, for one, will continue to pray for my country and our leaders.  And I have to admit, praying for those at the top will be a much easier task for me now!  ;)

We helped with our church's big turkey dinner and bazaar this week, which took a lot of our time.  And Darrel has been dealing with some very serious health issues again, requiring trips to doctor and hospital for tests.  Beth also has had a problem, as John took her out of town for part of a day and didn't notice he was dragging her feeet on the pavement, resulting in abrading the skin off and making them bleed.  :'(  He felt terrible about it, but he just doesn't pay enough attention to things sometimes.  We love him, though.

I need to drink my coffee, it's almost time to go to church!

I will be back!!

Janet good to see you back. I read something this morning about the Trump admionistration  planing on privatizing Social security. I hope that doesn't mean that those of us receiving SS will be cut off. I got a letter yesterday saying that they over paid me by $182.00 in June. I don't think so.

The home going service yesterday was very nice, Keith's oldest and youngest sons spoke of their grandfather. Our Pastor officiated . He was KLirby's neighbor for 50 years and they were good friends. Kirby was 101 in July he had quite an interesting life.

I am looking forward to going to church this morning to worship our Lord in Song and hear the message he has given to the Pastor for us today.

I had a terrible Vertigo episode on Friday as I was bent over giving Freckles her Vitamin and allergy pills. as soon as the room stopped spinning I moved to the living room and sat in my chair Freckles immediately jumped into my lap and laid her body against my chest and her head on my shoulder, she sure wasn't going to let me move. Way to go Freckles with her Service Dog Training.

Pat

I've been struck with terrible pain for a few days and have spent a few days just lying either in my bed or on it.  Then last night during the night, my blood pressure woke me up with the thumping on the bed.  I got up at 3 am and made a cup of tea and sat out in the living room for awhile and finally went back to bed about 5:30 am.

Now it's time to lock this door and open next week's "Thoughts for the Week"...
