Thanks for the reminder to look in on Pastor Al's words on the Psalms.

If Gord Brown says that this weekend he will be celebrating Thanksgiving then it must be Canada's Thanksgiving time.  Have a wonderful holiday.

Hi Samantha!  Love that picture - it is good that you are feeling better.

JudyB

This has been a rough week.  I have been fluish all week, and very drained.   Hopefully extra rest this weekend will help.

John will be gone over thanksgiving, he is working.  He has had 2 days off during the week instead.  That is how the ball bounced this week.

That is all for now, be back later .

Al Moak

Happy Thanksgiving, all you wonderful northern neighbors!  That's something we can all do all the time - give THANKS!

Hi everyone.  We had coffee a the senior center and then a couple of guys and I went and walked some laps at the church gym that is close by.  We need to reestablish our routine as it is helpful to us all.

I have two meetings today at the other Senior Center.  The first is our SeniorNet computer volunteers meeting and the second is for our PC User Group.  Our program today is on ergonomics, which should be very interesting as it relates to using the computer.

Pao, sorry to hear you haven't been feeling well.

Gord, that was a very nice gift.  I know you will enjoy the larger monitor.

Yesterday I installed a Linux operating system called Ubuntu on the computer I am fixing for our housekeeper.  It is very easy to use and found the Internet without any effort on my part.  I am working on getting it setup and understanding the differences from Windows.  It is free and certainly is usable with icons and it uses Firefox and a lot of the free programs such as the GIMP graphics program.

Morning y'all!

Pat and Carol, thanks for the comments about my picture.  My daughter, Olivia, took that with Terry's cell phone!  I think she has a natural talent for photography, but is too young to pursue it.

Later,
Samantha

Hello dear friends, (old and new)  :grouphug:

:coffee: Ah, I am sipping my morning java..."the elixir of life." (as my hubby likes to say)

I'm still hanging in there and living life as abundantly as possible.  Posting is a time consuming chore with my left index finger broken, but I will try.  I will likely have to retrain my brain again to type when my splint comes off.

Today's is Friday and I will be going into town for lunch with my mother, as is our tradition since my kids were little.  And, our other tradition...the kids stay the night with grandma and my hubby and I have a date night.  We've had more family nights on Fridays rather than date nights since our eldest daughter started courting.  We know, Lord willing, we will have many nights for dates again when our kids are grown and gone...if the Lord tarries.

The weather is finally changing.  The leaves are turning and we may even get our first snowfall this weekend!  I just love fall, but around here it's often too soon that the snow flies and the winds blow all the leaves away before I can capture them at their peak.  We will see what happens this year.

Larry, I loved the thing you posted about all the hymns.  I read it aloud to my kids and they got a chuckle, too.  It would be fun to do that as a post in another section for people to add hymns to.  I have another optometrist idea..."Be Thou My Vision."

Marilyn-Praying for you as you travel.

Pao & Judy B-(others?)  I pray that you are again at 100% health very soon.

Al-I can surely relate to your pain, and will continue to pray for you.

Pao-I went to your blog and saw the jeepney(i probably spelled that wrong).  My hubby spent 4 years in the PI at Subic Bay.  His father was in civil service there.  He has told me about the jeepneys, so it was fun to see your picture, too.

Hello everyone else!!!  :hello:  :hello:

I'm off...maybe I'll hunt down my fourth porch this weekend.  :)

Yesterday was so much fun, as usual, with my old classmates.  We have really grown close in the last three years of meeting monthly after years of not seeing each other.  A highlight of my month.

Today I had nothing to do.  Ha!  Change the bed, wash clothes, dry clothes, fold clothes, clean litter boxes, take old litter outside and put in holes, fill with new litter, fix and eat breakfast, makes some cookies, wash dishes, read devotions, exercise, enhance photos I took yesterday and email them out to classmates, fix and eat lunch, wash dishes and here I am.  Nothing to do.  Ha!

It is a nice sunny day today and the leaves are starting to turn.  My friend in Mexico wants some fall foliage photos so I have to keep an eye out for vibrant colors.

I am praying for travel mercies, health issues and praises for you all.

Hello from Oregon, Been busy this morning baking cookies and a Vanilla cake. Did a little laundry too.

Bebe and the kitty became fast friends after Bebe's initial fear of Fritzy, after th behind sniffing was all over they were friends and the cat follow Bebe everywhere.

Happy has been a real pill, I ended up have  to put him in the garage  car about 2 am as he would not stop with some weird little bark his kept doing. He has been at ia all day too, I now have him out on the tie-out.

Samantha that is sure a great new photo I love it.

Hi, friends,

Today was my first day out after those 2 quiet days with the muscle relaxers. Physical therapy showed me some really sore spots, and the folk there watched me carefully and adjusted the exercises to the soreness they could detect on my face.

Doggone it, everyone can read my emotions - always have been able to do so. Oh, well, that just means I need to stay in our Father's arms, nestled and safe there.

Glad to hear that Bebe and Fritzy got along, Marilyn. I've had dogs and kitties for years, so am well acquainted with the "get to know you" time.

Well, my son asked if I was planning to fix dinner, so I laughingly said, "Hey, it's about time you cooked!" So, he treated me to one of my favorite meals - kraut and smoked sausage. Yum Yum!

We have the construction dumpster and the storage POD coming on Monday and my son from Atlanta comes Tuesday. So, this rampage - ummmm - repair on my house starts on Tuesday! The bankers were kind today, thank goodness.

Pat, please send me an address and I can mail you a big Office 97 book. It covers several software pkgs by Microsoft, including Excel. I can get it to you maybe just a bit easier by sending to Paul, but will be more than happy to send to your Guelph address as well.

Then, maybe it would make it easier for you to ask questions, once the book is in your hands.

Tomorrow's lunch with friends, so I'm thankful for the evening meal cooked by my son tonight! :)

Good evening to all :)   Today was a very long day for my wife and I as we baby-sat our grandson and we had to get up so very early as my daughter and her husband had to leave for work at 7-00a.m. so it was a very long one.  I also had to go to my cardiac classes at the Y.M.C.A. and then do my own program after finishing that.  Then at 1-30 I had a traing session for our up and coming election next week as I am going to be a poll clerk.

These kind of days are just to long but thank goodness this does not happen to often.

I am hopeing that I can receive the post's as I am having a hard time getting into them but I will keep on trying and I don't want to miss whats going on at C.P.

May you all hav a wonderful weekend and stay safe as you travel.  God Bless :coffee:

I just had to share this Dr. Tozer devotional with you all today.  It really hits the nail on the head of how many Christians in the world feel today.  They think it's necessary to be "popular" in the world.

But...  is it?

Failure and Success:
The Scramble for Popularity

Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake. Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.
--Matthew 5:11-12

Popular Judaism slew the prophets and crucified Christ. Popular Christianity killed the Reformers, jailed the Quakers and drove John Wesley into the streets. When it comes to religion, the crowds are always wrong. At any time there are a few who see, and the rest are blinded. To stand by the truth of God against the current religious vogue is always unpopular and may be downright dangerous....

Christianity's scramble for popularity today is an unconscious acknowledgment of spiritual decline. Her eager fawning at the feet of the world's great is a grief to the Holy Spirit and an embarrassment to the sons of God. The lick-spittle attitude of
popular Christian leaders toward the world's celebrities would make such men as Elijah or George Fox sick to the stomach....

Lot was a popular believer. He sat in the gates of Sodom. But when trouble struck, he had to send quick for Abraham to get him out of the jam. And where did they find Abraham? Out on the hillside, far away from the fashionable crowds. It has always been so. For every Elijah there have always been 400 popular prophets of Baal. For
every Noah there is always a vast multitude who will not believe it is going to rain.

We are sent to bless the world, but never are we told to compromise with it.
Dr. Tozer in The Next Chapter After the Last, 20-21.

"Lord, give me the spirit of Elijah; give me the faith of Noah.  Deliver me from the scramble for popularity and strengthen me to serve alone, oblivious to the roar of the crowds. Amen."

What do YOU think?

Hi everyone.  Pat, thanks for sharing the Tozer piece.

It is overcast but otherwise a cool and lovely day here.  We will attend a meeting this morning and then have nothing on the schedule for the rest of the day.  I will put the dolly for moving boxes in the car and a few other things in preparation for our daughter's move to a different apartment tomorrow afternoon.  She has two made arrangements with two men who live in the apartments to do the physical work of the moving.  Her friend, the lady who is now our housekeeper, plans on being there to help with final packing up in the morning.

I am going to church and will stay until after the anthem as we have so few men in our choir but will leave early so we can get downtown to help with the move.  Our plan is to have our daughter go to her new apartment to direct where she wants things put, Pat will stay in the old apartment and I will stay at the freight elevator to keep an eye on things as they load into it.  Then we will help her get unpacked and settled in her new apartment, which is basically like the one she has been living in.

Hope those who haven't been feeling well are feeling better today.

Good morning, friends,

Yesterday's activities were tiring, so I'm a bit slow this morning. Life will be extremely busy for the next few weeks at our house. The long-awaited renovation project begins.

Maybe winter will be warmer, summers cooler, etc. when all this is done.

So, may not be present much - but y'all know I love each of you and will think of you while all this is happening.

Another beautiful day in Indiana.  Not too cold...not too hot.  Just right for me.  The trees are beginning to look fallish with the changing of their colors.

This afternoon, Charlene's daughter...step-granddaughter to me...is getting married the second time.  They will become a blended family since Audrey has Donovan and Brad has Morgan.  All of them will be in the ceremony.  Today is also Charlene's birthday and Audrey's paternal grandmother's birthday.  Big day.

Then after the wedding and reception, I am coming back home.  Then Ivalou and I will be going to our cousin's for a hayride/weiner roast.  Larry has this every year but it has always been too cold to be out in the evening or after dark.  He is having it a couple of weeks early this year.  Warmer.  It will be a big meal since we are to take a dish to share besides our hot dogs and buns.

Not sure how late we will be out...maybe not much after dark.

Good day all.
This is Thanksgiving weekend here and I am having my turkey supper today.
Have the Turkey in the oven with lots of homemade stuffing.
Two puddings made and vegetables and of course lots of gravy.
Can't wait --and cream cheese cake for dessert.
Anybody want to come for supper?
:)

Jane Walker

What time's supper?  I'm on my way.   ;)
Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass .... it's about learning to dance in the rain!

Carol

Tonight, we are going to have supper at youngest son's home.  Last night, I fixed quiche and salad and had #2 son & wife over for supper.  I found a recipe for making a basic soup on the net and made a huge amount then struggled to find containers to freeze small batches.  It can be eaten alone or a person can add other things to make about 4 or 5 different kinds of soup.  I have been experimenting with breads too - not really feeling the pinch of the economy yet but it is there - not buying anything either.

Pat:  Thank you for the notes referring to the state of things at the moment.  It is so hard for people to look past the moment and realize that things change all throughout life.

Al Moak

If only we had instant transportation!  I'd be at Melody's front door in minutes!  Probably would have Jane with us.

melody

Al I will leave some just in case you and Jane make it. :)
I 'm sure  it would be very good to sit and talk about the things of God.

Yesterday was a wonderful day.  The wedding went off great.  It would have only lasted 5 minutes if the little flower girl, the groom's daughter, would have walked down the aisle like she was suppose to walk.  But she got scared the last few minutes and Daddy had to go get her and take her to his parents.  Lots of food afterwards and then I was off to come back home.

When I got home I had two messages on my answering machine.  Calls from one of my step-daughters that lives 50 miles away.  She had called my cell phone also but I didn't take it in with me to the wedding.  I was putting ice in my cooler when the doorbell rang.  Thinking it was Ivalou, I said, 'Come in.'  It was two of Bud's daughters.  They had been to a funeral about 50 miles south of me and stopped by to chat.  I hadn't seen either of them for about 3 years.

They left and I went over to get Ivalou and head to the hayride/weiner roast.  Sooooo many people.  I would guess at least 150 people.  Both of us on the way said we weren't going to go on the hayride but Larry had a load ready to go when we got there so we went.  I sure didn't realize that Larry had that much woods on his property...45 acres.  And hilly!!!  Nice ride...some parts a little scary but nice.  The trees there were beautiful.  I got to talk to a lot of relatives and some I hadn't seen for 40 years!!!

We didn't get home until 10 something last night.

Now I am ready for church.

Great weekend so far!

Hi everyone.  It is still overcast here today, as it was all day yesterday.  This will be a bit of a strange day.  I will go to church but only stay through the anthem this morning.  I don't remember ever doing this before but it was either do this or not go and with so few men in the choir I really hate to miss if it can be avoided.  I will come back home, eat a quick bite of lunch, and then we will head down to Atlanta to help our daughter with the move.  A lot of it may be done by the time we get there as the two men she has helping are suppose to be there at noon and we won't be there much before 1 pm.  However, we can help unpack and resettle in as she doesn't have much energy and can't lift anything beyond about 5 pounds.  She will be exhausted when this day is over.

Etta Sue, it sounds like you did have a wonderful day yesterday.  It certainly was a full day.  I can't remember the last time I went on a hayride but it is a fun thing to do.

Melody, it sounds like you all had a wonderful meal to celebrate Thanksgiving.

Carol, your soup recipe sounds good.  Pat has a great Brunswick Stew recipe and we had some of it this last week.  She also has a good soup recipe that is made with a lot of cabbage, with meat chunks and other things that is very good.

Ruth Ann, it always takes some discomfort in our living arrangements to get things in our homes fixed but usually very much worth it.  A house requires a lot of maintenance.  I was very careful when I bought my current home to make it as maintenance proof as possible on the outside and have really nothing to paint outside except my storage shed.  Everything is covered in vinyl and the house looks as good as when we moved in in 1996 and will never need to be painted.  The only outside maintenance I will need to have done is a new roof put on one of these days, hopefully not for another 2 or 3 years.

A special hi from Atlanta to those who stop by here later today.

Al Moak

Larry - are you to the south of Atlanta, the east of it, the north of it, or the west of it?  Pure and simple curiosity.

Good day . I just  got home from Curch . I have finished dinner and guess what I had -left over Turkey and salads

Good afternoon to all.  We have had a wonderful week end and our grandchildren have been ot our house and they are so beautiful and wonderful and so much fun.  They are so close together and it is hard to believe that our little girl is already almost 13 months and our grandson will be one year on hallowen

Larry:  It is so nice that you are able to continue to help your daughter but don't overdo it.

Our weather here is sp warm and the sunshine and blue skies are to be enjoyed as we will get into winter to soon 8)

Judy B.  Hope all is well and you also are not doing more than you should be,  say hi to Heather God bless SIS.

Colin:  Where are you hope that all is well and not to much rain over there.

To all Canadians on the site.   HAPPY THANKSGIVING AND DON'T EAT TO MUCH.

Our senior pastor spoke on the parable of the sower and he came dressed as a farmer and even had one of the oldest pieces of equipment that the farmer would use to spread the seed's and it hung around his neck so it must have taken him a ling time to seed his farm with this small seeder which is not the right name.  He made it a woderful sermon and it was very easy to understand if it was your first time at church but of course the main point was there.

To all C.P. have a wonderful week and may the Lord give you many oppertunities to witness for him.  God Bless. :coffee:  Gord and Noreen. :)

We enjoyed another great sermon today - and a talk by one of the women who went to Haiti with others from the big church.  We tried to stay for coffee but the machine dropped dead this morning.  How on earth can Lutherans survive without coffee?  Not too well.

Don has been off and on watching the Broncos play and we took a long walk in the coolish mist today.  I have a rye bread in the machine but it is going to be finished too late today.  We worked this afternoon on getting a room ready to paint tomorrow.

Colin:  I will check it out.

Did anyone here send an invitation to join something on email?  I don't want to open it unless I know it is from one of you.  It is some kind of chat thing - which I am not around enough to enjoy so I just wanted to ask if anyone is on this thing.

Summicron

Thanks for that thought for today, its just the word I needed, I struggle with past guilt, and confusion, does God really exist and cares for us, are are we left alone here, at the whims and fickleness of all the forces in the universe, and all the forces for evil and confusion. In spite of all the Bible has to say, and just how deep our understanding of the scriptures, doubt and darkness and the fears of our past creep back in, and threaten to overwhelm our sanity, its times like these we/I need something to reassure me there is a God who did create this universe, and He alone is in charge, an He does love His creation. But what then is love? Well to me its something I don't really understand, certainly not to feel wanted, if that's what love is. I try to take inspiration from such words, but it doesn't help a great deal.

Hi, Karmat! Sure hope your birthday has been wonderful. I'm sitting here contemplating all the fun that y'all surely have had.

It's good to hear from everyone today. I'm just about recovered from that "bender fender" the other day. I understand my little purple PT Josie will be all better by Tuesday. Thank goodness for uninsured motorist coverage.

Thanks for the kind words about the mountainous task we face with disposing of, selling, or giving away 41 years of living in the same home.  Yikes!  Would appreciate prayers that our Lord will reign supreme during this stressful time.

I threw that "invitation" away. I strongly suspect this is spam with malicious intent to harm our computers.

Y'all have a great rest of the day, and I'll try to get in as much as time will allow next week.
