TO GOD BE THE GLORY, GREAT THINGS HE HAS DONE!!  When we left yesterday morning, the 10th miner was being rescued and when we were at the doctor's office, the 20th was rescued.  When we got home, all were out!  And we got to hear the president of Chile's speech, in which he gav e all the glory to God!  That was so good to hear, but sad to think what our president would have said in such a situation.  Throughout the whole ordeal, my heart was thrilled to hear of the faith and faithfulness of those miners who believe in God.  What an awesome showcase for His power and glory!  And I was so happy that Americans had a big part in the rescue, too.

Darrel was told to go off his antibiotic again, allow the infection to return, then get his urine cultured to ascertain if the infection has mutated again.  Such a long process.  They need to know exactly what we are dealing with, as that determines the type of antibiotic that will (we hope) kill it for good.

I need to go to Beth's care plan meeting, see you later!

Good Morning Everyone...

Yes, it was indeed a wonderful rescue and to think that they had Bible studies down there is just so wonderful.  So often we hear of other things that folks do but not Bible Studies!  One fellow was in charge of "recording the sermons"!  ;)   I'd sure love to listen to those "sermons".

This President sure seems better than the one Chile had before (what was his name?).

"Click for Waterloo Wellington, Ontario Forecast"

Carol

I can't recall the name of the former president of Chile but this  has been a wonderful thing for the country.  Glad that some Americans had a lot to do with the recovery as well as others from around the world.  Probably Canadians as well since it is mining. See what can be done when we just work together?  So glad that all the men "fit" into that little capsule.

Lots of things happening in our neighborhood & especially serious is the cancer that is worrisome for a young man in his 40's - his mother lives on our block & she lost her husband not that long ago.  Our monthly meeting is good to check on people in these 101 houses.  We just heard that a couple from church is now ready to move in here too so that will be just great.

Larry:  That is a Son-In-Law but he is like a son to us.  Treats us very well.  His interview was only with HR but I have been praying that he would now get a job that he could be home more, otherwise, he has been on a plane every week.

I voted yesterday and only one person was not of the party I voted for - I said that I would never vote straight ticket but this time it is critical to our children and grandchildren.

Ruth

I have been away for more days than I thought.
I feel that many of us spent a lot of time watching the Chile rescue I know that is what I did and all praise and glory goes to our Father in Heaven.

Carol: You asked about the pepper squash it is in the squash family dark green skin and yellow inside to cook them I like to cut them in half remove the seeds fill the cavity with butter and a little salt then bake in the oven. Pumpkin is squash then there are others as well the two I have mentioned are the ones I like best. Also they are a winter vegetable.

Larry:  We enjoyed the fair very much, as we do every year.  In the evening when the tractor pull was in action they brought the steam tractor in for a show and the sound of the steam tractor frightened one of the near by horses so bad that he got loose and went straight to the track this was not planned of course the tractor stopped and allowed the folk involved to catch the horse and return him to safety. I had taken a picture but it was not very clear.

Marilyn: It is good that you are getting along much better than you had thought.

Pat: How is Paul.

I got my hair done this morning then met with a friend that I had not seen for some time.

It is late and the computer needs a rest.

The fire is going and warm air is blowing through the house.  It was quite chilly inside this morning.  I got home last night about 6;00 and was about to continue with my knitting projects when a wave of tiredness hit.  So instead of staying up and fighting through it I went to bed.  That was about 7:30.  This morning I was asked to drive Kassie to her bus, and was refreshed enough to do just that.  Now a few chores and back to knitting.  My washer has given up the ghost.  The spin part of the cycle isn't working.  Maybe the pump but I think instead that it is the control knob.  John will be home tonight so hopefully he will be able to fix it for me.

I have checked out the entries for the challenge.  WOW are they ever beautiful!  I have several to enter but may be out of luck if my new computer doesn't arrive soon enough.  Seems since I have set the $$$ aside John hasn't gone that direction with the truck. :(  .

Pepper squash is also sometimes called acorn squash.  It is a favourite of John's as well.  He takes 4 halves and a container of cottage cheese  with him,  He eats them cold with the cottage cheese for lunch.  Most people like them as a side dish with their main meal for the day, I know I do but he prefers them this way.

Well have a great day everyone.

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  It is chilly in Georgia this morning.  I needed a jacket when I went to coffee at the senior center about 7:30 am.

I plan to go to Kaiser and get my flu shot this morning and likely make a quick stop at the store for a couple of items.  I really have nothing else on the schedule today so think I will do some readying this afternoon and perhaps evening.  I am in the middle of another good book.

We had a nice visit with our daughter yesterday.  We met at a good Mexican restaurant and had a great meal.  We then went to her apartment and visited with her awhile.

Jeanne Lee

It's not only chilly, but wet this morning.  Flood watch for our area, another 1 to 2 inches of rain expected today and tonight.  High wind warning through tomorrow noon or so.  And a winter weather advisory for the higher elevations with mixed rain and snow expected.  I guess summer is over.

Class lunch was yesterday at a golf club.  Beautiful scenery.  Fall is here.  There were 17 of us.  Good showing.

Then I took Judy B home and went swimming.  Good work out.  Following that I stopped at Walmart for grocery items to make Cornbread Salad.  Kaye Don is having is annual Fish Fry tomorrow evening for the family and I am pitching in Cornbread Salad.  No calories there!

Judy, it must have been the night for tiredness.  I went to bed at 10pm and didn't get out of bed until 10am...and maybe not then, but Inky woke me up!

Ivalou and I are going to eat in Lapel and then go to the Dollar General.  Then I need to work on her handset for her cordless phone.  She got it wet and it doesn't light up now.  She can call and answer so it isn't broke all the way!  Probably needs to be dried out.  A hair dryer might help that.  And of course, unplug the battery and plug it back in.

That's it!

Hello from the  sunny southwestern coast of Oregon. It is a beautiful day  albeit it a chilly 48°. Keith left for Portland this morning to go visit his boys for the weekend. I have been to the gym, rode he bike for 10  minutes, 2 miles and did a few of the machine that only require using the legs. Came home made the bed and changed into my my scrubs pants. Now I have to put the breakfast dishes in the dishwasher and get ready to go to Walmart later to buy a new clamp for my hair, My favorite one broke yesterday.

I completed my Photoshop classes and I sure wish there were more lessons. There is so much to learn that  were not in these lessons.

Happy's skin fungus came back just as the vet warned me would happen if I insisted on  an allergy shot for him, which I did against the vets warning. It compromised his immune system so he will probably be on the Anti Fungal med for another 6 months. the med is $10 less at Walmart than at the vet. Poor Happy has to wear that awful e-collar all the time to keep him from  licking and chewing himself.  I do take it off  when he goes out for potty and when I take him for a walk.  Oh my the things we do for our beloved pets.

Thanks for the information about Pepper Squash or Acorn Squash.  I have baked those for years.  It is strange that sometimes they look so good and there is no squash taste - too mild.  They are good with an old-fashioned bread dressing baked in the center too.  Love squash, unfortunately, our children threw fits about eating squash and I blame it all on what they talked about on the school bus.  Other children gave them ideas.

Waiting to pick up granddaughter from her school bus.  The two dogs came with me yesterday & they were so good that they can come again.  I have tried fixing the old Elna sewing machine I gave her to use but now need a tiny screwdriver to get some thread out.  Poor old Elna that needs my attention at least once per year.  So, the machine will come home with me for a vacation & oil job.

Marilyn:  The dog Gigi ( a little brown/black mix) has light diabetes so needs meds monthly that are very expensive - sad that son-in-law is out of work for almost one year now.  They are squeaking by & using savings too so the extra expense isn't fun.  I think meds & vet bills are almost higher than for people at times.

Jeanne:  We are warmer than you but that may change on Monday.  Retailers are worried about not selling all their winter clothes if this keeps up.  How are you feeling?

JudyB:  You are lucky that John is a Mr. Fixer!  And, you do a lot of that yourself!  I missed what kind of knit projects you are talking about.  Send me your address in two days I will be home.  I have a pattern for a sweater almost shawl you might like - it is what I am supposed to be working on right now.  No buttons.  Are you interested?

Everyone stay well and have a good weekend.  I will stay here & visit for a few days.

Ruth

Good evening

I had something ready and it would not go perhaps there was a reason even the arrow to go back did not pick it up.

Larry:  It is good that you are well enough to go out and enjoy many things
Marilyn:  How is your recovery going.
Carol:  I sent you a message I hope it gets there and if not let me know.  If you are able to find the Pepper Squash it has the best taste we at this house feels.

Time to call it an evening

I like acorn squash, but never heard it called pepper squash before.  Maybe that is a regional thing?  I bake the halves with a little milk, sugar and cinnamon inside.

Still summer here, it got up over 80 again today.  We went to Garden City to do a few things this afternoon.  I got some new shoes, Darrel got his prescriptions at Walmart, and we went to Sam's and spent too much money.  :P

Grandson Curtis is in Hugoton, but I probably won't get to see him this trip.  Darrel and he are going to Liberal tomorrow to look at a job, and Curt has a wedding dance to DJ tomorrow night in Garden City.  Then he is being sent somewhere again for another week as soon as he gets home.  The AF sent him to Seattle for two weeks, he just got back from there.

Tomorrow is scrapbooking day again.

So nice to read all of your posts.  Now I'm off to bed.

Carol Check for an IM.  I am knitting sweaters for my grands.  A little to finish on the last of Doug's boys.  Then the two of Heathers.  I just wish I could find a variegated black/gray in chunky.  That is the favourite colour for my oldest grandson.

Etta Sue.  Now I do love swimming, but I really don't recall swimming with you recently!  LOL Would love to do that some time.  This new antibiotic I am on kicks the stuffing out of me.  thankfully it is only once a day.  Problem is I have to take it on an empty tummy.

Janet I have never started scrapbooking.  I have too big of a material stash, and to do that would mean another type of stash!!!

Marilyn I am glad to hear you are getting around.  Yes our pets do cost us.  But the love , affection, and loyalty is worth it.

Jeanne you don't need to use 4 letter words.....s*** is one that I particularly like to see or use....too many days of it coming!!  LOL Yup winter is soon here, interesting that you are getting that weather and we have sunny sky's and jacket wearing temperatures.

Larry take it easy, don't over-do.  We are praying here in the north.

Jeanne Lee

Some of the higher elevations, like Stowe, VT, did get a couple of inches of that nasty stuff.  We're still under a wind advisory, and the sun and clouds are playing peek-a-boo this morning, but it looks as though the wet stuff has moved on.

Hi everyone.  It is another chilly morning but suppose to warm up nicely for the day.  Just got back from coffee and no one was anxious to leave this morning and we stayed longer than usual.  Today should be a laid back day and I plan to watch several football games.

I was really tired last evening and went to bed at 8 pm but still feel fine this morning, for which I am very grateful.

Judy, it has been so long since I have had to deal with snow that I have almost forgotten how hard it can be.  I sure don't envy you your long winters.

Janet, enjoy our scrapbooking today.

Carol, do you have a Bernina sewing machine now?  I think my wife had an Elna machine of some type at one time, but may not be remembering correctly.  She really enjoys her Bernina sewing machine and is on her second one.

Marilyn, sorry to hear of the new problem for your pet.  It sounds like you are doing well.  Are you in much pain now?

Etta Sue, we just had a new Dollar General store open in our area a few weeks ago.  I haven't stopped in there yet but will one of these days.  We have several different dollar type stores in our area.

Jeanne, it sounds like you are getting hit with the severe storm hitting the NE that they have been predicting all week.  Stay warm and dry.

Ruth, I feel fortunate to have good days where I feel very well.  Hope all is well up your way.

Etta Sue

It is bright and sunny in central Indiana again.  We have not had a significant rain for over two months.  Hope the winter is just as dry but I am sure the farmers wish not.

Ivalou and I went to eat at Lapel yesterday.  A great nephew and his girl-friend came in and sat with us.  Nice to chat with them.  Then we went to the Dollar General.  Ivalou had a purse to exchange...the one she got had a big hole in the bottom on the inside.  No problem.  I don't think I have ever went to Dollar General and not get something and this time was no exception.  But it was good spending.

I have already made my cornbread and next is cutting up onions, peppers and tomatoes for my cornbread salad for tonight at Kaye Don's Fish Fry.  You never know how to dress...he has tables set up in the garage but the house is open also.  The garage is cold...the house too hot!  Oh well.  If I get too uncomfortable, I can walk back home!

Other than that, I will just enjoy the sunshine for another day!  Not a cloud in the sky!

Whew!  Almost lost my post!!

Janet

I had a pretty good day scrapbooking.  There were only three of us today, but a couple of others stopped by for a bit.  We never know who or how many will show, but it's nice that we can come and go at will.  I think I got five or maybe six pages done today, on my Costa Rica Album.

Nice to know that most of you had a nice day as well.

I am very concerned about my youngest daughter Kerri.  She has been quite sick for seven weeks now, and what with her husband's drinking and the stress that is putting on their marriage, it is a tough time for her.
Of course, prayers will be appreciated.  I'm hoping to go visit her in November, her youngest son is a senior and has the lead in their high school musical, along with three solos!  He was always so small for his age, and now she tells me he is 6'2"!!  Whoa!!  I need to see that!  :o

I am hurting between my shoulder blades, need to get off here!

Marilyn

Janet I am really sorry to hear  about Kerri being so sick for so long. I will certainly add her to my nightly prayers along with Beth and Darrell whom I already pray for.

I am doing quite well here on my own for the weekend. i did take the dogs for their walks today and Happy did real well. I took the e-collar off  him this morning and left it off, he has licked a couple of places  almost raw but I sprayed them with the Tea Tree Oil medication and he  leaves them alone after I do that. I will put the collar back on for the night.

I sure slept good last night, better than I do when Keith is here. I woke up once about midnight to see what Bebe wanted , put on my slippers and robe and asked if she wanted to go out, no that wasn't it, I ask if she wanted a drink of water and that wasn't it either, so I told her to go back to bed and she did  so did I. I next woke up at 6:45am. I don't know why I can't seem to sleep any later than that no matter what time I go to bed. I must have been asleep by 9:30 though so I got plenty of sleep.

It is 3:48 and I am wide awake.  :(  I have been doing better on sleeping, but not this time.  I am now taking three of the melatonin plus, and that does help.

We plan to go to Hugoton today to attend church with the kids, grands and great grands.  So I will get to see Curtis aftr all!

Marilyn, thanks so much for praying for my family.  It is so hard, knowing Kerri and her family are not in church and not walking with the Lord.  I know that is the root of all the problems they are having, so my prayers are that they get right with the Lord.  Time is short!!

Pat, how are you?  I miss you.

The fish fry went well.  They do such a great job of frying the fish.  So good and not real fishy!  I don't know how many people were there.  A house full and a garage full.  Me?  If I was inside, I was too hot.  In the garage, I was chilly.  So I came back home before it got dark.

Looks like another bright and sunny day with not a cloud in the sky.  The mornings are cool...only 51 right now.  I got a call last evening asking me to be a greeter at the door so I need to leave a little earlier than usual.  Ivalou will drive her own car.  And since I have Cornbread Salad left over, I won't need to go out to eat after church.  That's a first for a long time!

Praying for all your needs...

Hi everyone.  It was 44 degrees when I checked at about the time I got up this morning, which wasn't real early.  It is going to be another beautiful day with a high of 79 degrees.  We also need rain down this way but don't think it has been two months since it rained.

I am ready for church.  We don't have to go as early this morning as the choir will be in the loft but not singing an anthem. We just lead in the congregational singing and do the Amen's at the end of the service. This is children's Sunday so they are providing the special music, ringing their little chimes to call the hour, handing out the programs at the doors, and taking the offering.

I expect we will go out to lunch with the group today, unless they go to the Chinese place that we don't care for.  Then we will go someplace by ourselves.  Nothing else on the schedule for today.

Janet, so sorry to hear of the illness of your daughter Kerri and the tabulation due to the drinking.  I do hope she is seeking help for herself as there is nothing she can do about him.  Hope you are able to get to see her and your grandson.  It sounds like it has been awhile.  Hope you were able to get back to sleep after being up in the middle of the night.

Etta Sue, it sounds like the fish fry was a big success.  I didn't realize that Ivalou was driving herself at this point.  Glad she is able to do that.

Marilyn, it sounds like your pet was just lonely in the middle of the night.  Glad you were able to go back to sleep.

Janet

Larry, Kerri did tell me that she has begun attending Al Anon meetings and thinks they will be helpful to her.  Her mother-in-law told her that she had given Ray the name of a counselor and that he said he would call and make an appointment for them to go for marriage counseling, but it had been two weeks and he hasn't even mentioned it to Kerri yet.

I did finally go back to sleep for about an hour and a half this morning.  So I'm about to fall asleep here, may as well take a short nap.  Too long a nap and I will have problems again tonight.

We got to see all of Diane's family except Mark.  He had flown to Albuquerque to meet a lady he found on e Harmony.  He texted his Dad that he was on the way home early in the afternoon, so we are all wondering how that meeting went for him.

I got to hold the baby (Chelsea) all through church.  She's such a good, sweet baby.  And Lexi is really warming up to me, too.  They just need to get to know me better, and will once they move to Moscow.

The weather here is just perfect!!  Way too beautiful to spend indoors, and yet here I am.  Shame on me.
