Morning Devotional...

Preparing the Last Supper
Luke 22:1-13 NLT

The Festival of Unleavened Bread, which is also called Passover, was approaching.  The leading priests and teachers of religious law were plotting how to kill Jesus, but they were afraid of the people's reaction.

Then Satan entered into Judas Iscariot, who was one of the twelve disciples, and he went to the leading priests and captains of the Temple guard to discuss the best way to betray Jesus to them.  They were delighted, and they promised to give him money.  So he agreed and began looking for an opportunity to betray Jesus so they could arrest him when the crowds weren't around.

Now the Festival of Unleavened Bread arrived, when the Passover lamb is sacrificed.  Jesus sent Peter and John ahead and said, "Go and prepare the Passover meal, so we can eat it together."

"Where do you want us to prepare it?" they asked him.

He replied, "As soon as you enter Jerusalem, a man carrying a pitcher of water will meet you. Follow him. At the house he enters, say to the owner, 'The Teacher asks: Where is the guest room where I can eat the Passover meal with my disciples?'  He will take you upstairs to a large room that is already set up. That is where you should prepare our meal."  They went off to the city and found everything just as Jesus had said, and they prepared the Passover meal there.

How do you prepare yourself for Communion?

Satan's part in the betray of Jesus does not remove any of the responsibility from Judas.

Disillusioned because Jesus was talking about dying rather than about setting up his Kindgom, Judas may have been trying to force Jesus' hand and make him use his power to prove he was the Messiah.  Or perhaps Judas, not understanding Jesus' mission, no longer believed that Jesus was God's chosen one.

Whatever Judas thought, Satan assumed that Jesus' death would end Jesus' mission and thwart God's plan.  Like Judas, he did not know that Jesus' death and resurrection were the most important parts of God's plan all along.  Jesus gave the ultimate sacrifice for you.

The next time you take Communion at church, remember what Jesus did on the cross for you.

Since I will be super busy tomorrow, I am posting tonight for tomorrow!!

Church was awesome.  I really like the sermons Pastor Steve gives.  He really puts his all into them.  After Sunday School there were seven ladies eating together.  I really like that much better than eating by myself like I did just 4 months ago.

After that I went to Kitty's.  She was giving me some canned cat food that her cats won't eat.  I told her I was going to try canned cat food for Inky.  But when I got there, she was gone and she forgot to put them on her porch.  Then I went to fill the car up with gas.

I came home and got caught up online and then got my book to the spare bedroom to read...'The Princess' by Lori Wick.  Great fiction book.  I got sleepy and put the book down and took a snooze.  The phone rang and woke me up.  Ivalou just got home.  I wasn't expecting her home until tomorrow.  She had a great time visiting with her girls and the grands and g-grands.

Tomorrow is a big day of laundry, sweeping and cooking.  To be honest with you, I will be glad when the next few days are over.  I am not a party person and I get so anxious that something won't be cleaned or done.  I don't look at people's houses when I visit them but I just know that they check everything out when they come here!!  I know that isn't true but....

thank you for the devotional you posted. every time i take the communion at church, i do remember how awesome it is that God loves me and knows my name. i've been going to church since i was a kid, but it's only in these past few years of my life when His love became real to me and not just something I learn in sunday school.

How is everyone doing today?
Its the beginning of another week and so much to do.
We had a wonderful day in the house of the Lord yesterday . It was good to worship God and meet with my brothers and sisters.
I am glad to know that we can take every burden to God in prayer. And to know there is nothing to hard for God.
Love and prayers to you all and have a wonderful day in the Lord.

Good Morning, I have been to Curves and am having  my first   :coffee:. I do need to get dressed in street cloths instead of sweats and fix my breakfast. I will be going to Tai Chi practice before going to work to take the lady and her dogs for their daily walk. That is all the work I am doing at this rime, no other jobs, it is only for an hour a day. So I am enjoying my retirement, doing only the things  want to do and a few things that have to be done, like Dr appts  recycling, mowing stuff like that.

I will be going to the Chiropractor tomorrow and from there to get my Zosta vax   (shingles shot). I am so thankful that it is only costing me $9.30 and that includes the injection fee. I do need to stop by the Public health office and get a Tetanus booster, but not tomorrow. Next week it is the flu shot,.

This coming Saturday there is an Holistic Health Fair in Eureka and I plan to go. Thursday night is the annual Caregiver Banquet and Resource Fair, I am taking Willa's daughter and grand daughter with me. So  this is one of the busier weeks in my life at this time.

Hi everyone.  It is a cool morning here in Georgia but absolutely gorgeous outside with the sun and the clear sky.  When I got home from coffee and getting a haircut, Pat had turned on the furnace as the house had quite a chill.  I think it was 41 degrees outside.

This morning when I went out in the garage to go to coffee I noticed my overhead light was on in my car where I had purchased the new battery.  I hit the button to open the garage door but opened the wrong side.  I didn't notice this until I had put the car in reverse and started to back up and suddenly realized the wrong door was open.  Fortunately I had moved only a few inches so didn't hit the close garage door.  I felt rather foolish but was most thankful I stopped in time.  I found the problem with the overhead light was that the passenger side door had not been fullly closed.  The light had been since Saturday afternoon.  However, the car started without problem so guess no harm was done.

I have a luncheon to attend at 1 pm today and then will stop at Wal-Mart, which is just up the road, and pick up a few items we need.  That is my big day.

Marilyn, glad to see you are enjoying your retirement and it sounds like you are keeping busy each day.  I feel that is very important.  Glad you had a good day at your church yesterday.

Etta Sue, thanks for the fine devotional.  Please don't get yourself down with preparing for your day tomorrow.  I always feel that if something doesn't get done it probably wasn't important and if it bothers someone else that it is their problem and I don't need to worry about it.  I am sure some people wouldn't like the way we have our house setup but it is our house and we like it the way it is, including a little bit of occasional clutter when it makes our lives more enjoyable.  Anyway, have a great day tomorrow.

Tom, I read your website page about yourself.  Very interesting.  It is a small world in terms of how our lives often intertwine with someone we may meet later in life, as is the case with you and Pat.

Hi to Melody and Pao.

TomJ

Hi, Folks.

This site is working fine on my computer here at work, so the problem that makes me have to reconnect to the Internet all the time when I am here must be a problem with my computer set-up.

I posted so late on the previous week's thread that it might be that hardly anyone saw my post.  I gave a link to a website that I built to let folks know some things about me.  Since I am brand new around here, some of you might want to "check me out."  I would be honored if you visited my little website.

http://home.earthlink.net/~tsjay54/

Also, it seems that many of you here are dog lovers, so you might enjoy the website I created for my dog who died three years ago.  Ross Allen was my constant companion and soul mate.   He was one of a kind, but they ALL are, aren't they?

God bless, my new friends.

Tom - Welcome

I came in to tell you about the wonderful service we attended yesterday.  Before, during and after, I said a prayer that we might find the church where we fit best.  Could it be the little new one struggling with less than 50 people or now this was a mega church yesterday.  We are not fond on mega anythings so we did want to be open-minded.  The senior pastor was just outstanding with his message and then SS had another great lesson.  If nothing else, I would like to go to the lessons on Paul they have right now.  Don says we should take our time and go to several churches and I agree but he did say that it was worth the effort to get to 7:30 AM service in the chapel.  (We have been sleeping later with retirement).  Have to admit that I was really sleepy since I stayed up to watch Sarah Palin on that comedy show.

A question:  Often, I will click on something in here and read it only to find that I can't get back and then because I am close to the end of reading all the posts, I don't know how to get back to the thoughts area.  I put Thoughts for the Week into the search button and it only shows old stuff .  Anything I can do to remedy this oddity?

The children gave me a gift of a massage so I must get ready - I will be worthless after such an experience.

Marilyn

Tom thank you so much for sharing  your story of Ross Allen. I read every word.

Tom, I just read every word of your tribute to Ross Allen.  I gazed at each picture of him, you and him, and could just see the depth of his love for you and you for him.  There is no love that we can experience like the love of a beloved pet.  For me, it is dogs.  And I believe our Father made it that way.

I felt my throat tighten as you described laying with Ross Allen on the floor as he left this place.  I hope I don't have to go through that for a good long while.  Thank you for inviting us to have a look.  I'll go now and check out what you have to say about yourself.   I had to read what you had to say about Ross Allen first. :)   Nita

Nita:

Thanks for the kind words.  I guess I was right, we DO have lots of dog lovers here.

I really wonder if God maybe gave us dogs to help us understand the concept of unconditional love?

I'm sure He did. God knew we would needed to know and understand his love for us so He gave us our pets to show us.. God is so awesome, He knows everything we need.

Dear Tom...  I certainly share your grief.  As  I am typing here, my friend is lying across my feet.  He goes with me in the car and when we leave the parking lot at the city lot, he knows he'll get a biscuit from the lady in there and starts to lick his lips.

He's 12 years old now and I sure love him.  Not certain how I'll face the time that I must say farewell to him.  He's such a good friend.

Happy Birthday to Paul and Ed - Each of you have a lovely day.

We love dogs as well but have moved and traveled too often since retirement.  We can always go to the children's home to get a dogggie fix although it certainly isn't the same.

I was right - having a massage yesterday afternoon relaxed me to the point that I was useless.

Cousin is coming this week and she will call when they are ready to leave Minnesota.  I hope they don't arrive on Thursday because we are in a dinner group and I bring dessert this time.  But - it will all work out.

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  I had to come back from morning coffee early as Pat has an appointment about an hour away from here and has to be there by 10:15 so we have to leave shortly.

It was quite chilly here again this morning but another beautiful day.

Carol, a suggestion for you that might prevent you losing your postings.  I often open a separate browser window to the posting area and then just use the tabs to go back and forth between reading and posting.  It sounds like you have several good choices of churches in your new area.

Happy Birthday to Ed and to Paul.

Happy birthday Paul!  One step closer to our Lord!

Got a phonecall I sure didn't expect the other evening - from Gord.  We had a good chat.

For those who've been praying - I could not remain in bed the other night.  Had to go use the recliner again.  Don't know if there's anything that can be done for this condition - it may be the result of a car accident 30 years ago, and there may not be anything that can be done for it.  We'll persue all avenues, but we're running out of avenues at this point.

Etta Sue

Happy Birthday, Ed and Paul!

It is all done but the shouting.  I am ready for the seven ladies to come and play cards.  It is bright and sunny but cool today.  Need to check the deck and see if it needs swept of the leaves that fell last night.

Then I get to do this again next week.  Won't be quite so bad.  I don't have to fix as much refreshments.

I got a call this morning reminding me of my DDS appointment TOMORROW at 3pm.  I had forgotten!!  Now I need to tell Ivalou so she can remind me tomorrow!!!

I've been to Eureka to my chiropractor and to get my Flu and Shingles hots, I am glad that is over. Now I am cooking pork chops for my lunch and will have just a salad the evening and maybe some soup.

Not much going on here I've had to turn the heat on for a bit to warm the place up.

Thank you all for the BD wishes.  We celebrated on Sat & Sun as 4 kids could not arrange schedules t.b. here on the same day.  On Sunday, with 18 people we went through 4 XL pizzas in nothing flat.

We went to our favorite restaurant yesterday for my free BD dinner and they started closing on Monday's the 1st of Oct.  And I went to Cinncinnati today and could not get back in time to re-visit them.

Some of you may know that I rec'd Christ at age 32 and I asked the Lord to let me live as long with Him as I lived w/o Him.  Well, for the past 4 yrs I have been living on borrowed time.  Ha Ha

Just keep borrowing, Ed - God has lots to give, and He perfectly knows our times.  He's so gracious and merciful!  MANY happy returns of the day!

I'm going to make a comment that some might construe as political.  It isn't, but it might be construed that way.  The federal government did a 700B bailout.  And then there has been the "economic stimulus package," which cost another few billions.  Now they're talking about yet another stimulus package, probably worth another several billion.  Just one question: who's going to pay for all these?  And from what resources?  Our national deficit was already over a trillion, so what will it be now?  A day of reckoning is coming.  There may be foreigners just waiting in the wings to assume ownership of us - lock, stock, and barrel.

I'd like to call on all of us here to pray for our Lord's mercy.  It would be mercy, because it isn't deserved.  Oh pray for repentance, confession, and new righteousness - NOW!

Good night . It seems the day has past and i have forgot to come in and post. I have just come home from our prayer meeting and it was good to get into the presence of God and prayer for families, and for revival. God is able to turn around any situation.
It was a very windy day here today with lots of heavy rain. Looks like there is a lot of leaves gone of my trees
Al-Praying this pain and discomfort will go and there will be healing for you. Where man does not have an answer our God is able to do exceedingly and abundantly above all we can ask or think . I continue to lift you up in prayer.
Hello  Pat-Carol , Marylin, Ruth Ann, Janet , Etta Sue, Larry, Gord, Nita, and to all!!!

JudyB

I found out this weekend that our cousin's grandson, Matthew has non hodgkins lymphoma.  Please keep him in prayer.  With that in mind, imagine the impact this story had on me this morning.  I don't know if it is true or not but it sure is a tear jerker.

Anyone who has pets will really like this. You'll like it even if you don't and you may even
decide you need one!

Mary and her husband Jim had a dog named 'Lucky.'  Lucky was a real character.
Whenever Mary and Jim had company come for a weekend visit they would warn their friends to not leave their luggage open because Lucky would help himself to whatever struck  his fancy. Inevitably, someone would forget and something would  Come up missing.

Mary or Jim would go to Lucky's toy box in the basement and there the treasure would be, and all of Lucky's other favorite toys.  Lucky always stashed his finds in his toy box
and he was very particular that his toys stay in the box.

It happened that Mary found out she had breast cancer.  Something told her she was going to die of this disease ....in fact , she was just sure it was fatal.  She scheduled the double mastectomy, fear riding her shoulders.  The night before she was to go to the hospital she cuddled with Lucky. A thought struck her...what would happen to Lucky?

Although the three-year-old dog liked Jim,  he was Mary's dog through and through.
If I die, Lucky will be abandoned, Mary thought.  He won't understand that I didn't want to leave him.  The thought made her sadder than thinking of her own death.

The double mastectomy was harder on Mary  than her doctors had anticipated
and Mary was hospitalized for over two weeks.  Jim took Lucky for his evening walk faithfully,  but the little dog just drooped, whining and miserable.

Finally the day came for Mary to leave the hospital.  When she arrived home, Mary was so exhausted  she couldn't even make it up the steps to her bedroom. Jim made his wife comfortable on the couch and left her to nap.  Lucky stood watching Mary  but he didn't come to her when she called.  It made Mary sad but sleep soon overcame her and she dozed. When Mary woke for a second she couldn't understand what was wrong. She couldn't move her head and her body felt heavy and hot.  But panic soon gave way to laughter when Mary realized the problem.  She was covered, literally blanketed, with
every treasure Lucky owned!   While she had slept, the sorrowing dog had made trip after trip to the basement bringing his beloved mistress all his favorite things in life.  He had covered her with his love.

Mary forgot about dying. Instead she and Lucky began living again,  walking further and further together every day.  It's been 12 years now and Mary is still cancer-free.

Lucky?  He still steals treasures and stashes them in his toy box but Mary remains his greatest treasure.
Remember....live every day to the fullest.
Each minute is a blessing.
And never forget....the people who make a difference in our lives are not the ones with the most credentials, the most money, or the most awards. They are the ones that
care for us.

If you see someone without a smile today give them one of yours!
Live simply.
Love seriously.
Care deeply.
Speak kindly.
Leave the rest to God

That last line says it all.

Marilyn

Well we have snow.  Big white cold snow.  Then the car wouldn't start.  Finally got it going, with a heater to thaw the wires and a battery charger, and left it running for about 1/2 hour last night.  Today couodn't get the doors open as everything had frozen.  With the block heater plugged in all was well, but needed the crowbar to open the doors.  Oh how I dread winter.  John is going to figure out how to put the van into a packed garage.  It won't be easy.

I wish I had a camera with me this am. There was a spectacular sunrise, and on the way to work the fog on the water would have made a amazing picture.  Pat whish you had seen it you could have taken some amazing shots! Gotta get a digital!

Well I have to get to work Lots to do.

What an insight Al.  Thanks.  I never thought of it that way.  Guess I'll go to God's Credit Union and get another loan.

As for the troublesome back pain....I can really emphasize with you there.  And I know what it is to try to find a position to sleep, but I don't think I could sleep every night in a recliner.  Well, I guess I would if I had to.

I shall pray for you to get a good nights sleep tonight.

It's all over but the shouting.  A great time was had by all.  Then I get to do it again next Tuesday.  Not a meal this time...just snacks.  Easier.

And I slept soooo good last night.  Must have been stress and now that the party is over, I could sleep.

And today is a dentist appointment.  Would almost rather have another Euchre party!

Bright and sunny and my furnace finally came on last night.  It's only 40° right now and it is 10:15am.  Looks warmer out but I am sure it is very nippy.

Pretty cool here this morning at 43° right now, as I am typing this it will probably change and make a liar out of me.  ;D

Not much is new here. Went to Curves and had a good workout. Nothing scheduled for today except to got to work and to walk my dogs.  Maybe I will make some more soup.

Hi everyone.  I have just finished my lunch after attending Bible Study with the pastor this morning and then our usual social time at the donut shop.

Yesterday Pat had good news from her medical tests.  She had had a mammogram a few weeks ago and they found something and therefore scheduled more tests, including an ultrasound.  She had these done yesterday and the radiologist feels what they are seeiing is not a problem.  They will check again in 6 months.  Obviously we were both elated.

Etta Sue, glad you enjoyed your day yesterday.

Judy, just keep that snow up your way.  This is one reason I really like living in the south as don't have to worry about the winters.  I hope John can get your car under cover in your garage as it really makes a difference in the winter.  I could never understand why in Alaska they didn't seem to have many garages but left the cars outside during winter with block heaters, etc.

Al, sorry to read that you had to revert to your easychair before the night was up.

Summicron:  I am positive that every Christian on earth has had moments of doubt as you mentioned in your note.  My little advice - come in here often.  Read all the notes and especially the very good news at the top of each Thought for the Week.  May the words work their way into your heart.  Ask lots of questions.  Remember that we are given Grace each and every moment of our lives.  You are loved.

Just found this Carol so I brought it over to this weeks thoughts, thanks for the encouragement and upbuilding. Must admit I felt really down last Friday night, literally, I was carrying tea in for me and Margery, when my right foot went from under me, fell back on my left leg, I thought that's broke for sure, the Lord must have been watching over me, I sprained my knee once again, always doing that. Well Margery had to clean two platefulls of food from off the kitchen floor, before I could get to the top of the stairs, get my legs down a couple of steps and stand up.
It shook me up I can tell you, I think I was more mad at loosing the evening meal, anyway, there was enough left to remake it. How did it happen? The kitchen had new flooring put in a couple of years back, and when wet its as slick as a skating rink, I'd accidentally left the freezer door open, and the the ice built up, so it wouldn't shut.
I chipped the ice away and swept it up off the floor, but either it was still wet, or some ice melted under the fridge, and wet the floor, well as soon as my foot touched it down I went.
On Saturday night I thought the stiffness was easing, but Sunday night, I couldn't find any place to comfortably put my leg, so I phoned the doctor, who said get a non emergency ambulance out, get to Accident and Emergency (I always thought A & E were the toilets) so I spent all Monday in there. They took that many X Rays of my knee, its glowing green in the dark, they were young lads on the X Ray machine, I think the novelty of using the equipment hadn't worn off, "Eeh eck that's a cool shot, lets try it again," I'm sure they've been posting them on Flickr. Well my knees bandaged up, and I'm confined to barracks, till I go back to the fracture clinic next Tuesday. Oh its frustrating not being able to go out, trying not to put any weight on my left leg, that's impossible my right legs weaker than my left, doctors orders, and what's more they're trying to sort out and get my diabetes under control. "What have I done to deserve that?" I'm addicted to sweet stuff, I can't live off a diet like that. Anyway I hate pasta, jacket potatoes, and tuna is a banned substance, rice only with curry and sweet and sour. Jam, I need jam, I can't live without jam and cheese butties. Oh well not a good weekend by any means. One thing though, my phone kept going off at home when the nurses came to visit, and my ringtone is, Noel Edmund's, We wanna see Jesus lifted high, and one of them had to go and fetch it from another room initially.

Oh My what an ordeal..  As we get older we need to be so aware of the areas that we can tumble.  It can be so dangerous.  I am glad nothing is broken, but I also know sprains can be very painful.  Keep that leg up and use lots of ice to keep the swelling down..

Awake again during the night.  Was praying for the folks here at CP.

John called me at work about quitting time.  He was able to come home for supper, and for the night.  THat was a real nice change from the norm.

It appears that only the area where we live has snow.  The complete surrounding area is ice/snow free.  But the scene was beautiful as we past trees where ice had formed from the fog of last night.  I have never seen anything quite like it.

Have a great day folks and God Bless

Marilyn

Oh my Micheal what a terrible thing to  have to deal with.  I hope your swelling goes down soon and the  leg gets better quickly.

Tonight is the Caregiver banquet and Resource Fair, I will be going to that and I have 3 others riding with me, so I have to gas my car today. Yesterday the gas was down to $3.29, still too much but we have to  buy it anyway.

Yesterday Happy slipped in the kitchen and fell, injuring  one of his hind legs. he is better this morning, after I prayed for him. I worry because he is over weight and getting older, he  is 11 now, but still such a lover dog. Seem like he can't get enough  lovin' and that's OK with me I love to  pet him, brush him and tell him I love him. Bebe does get jealous when he gets the extra attention so she has to get in there and  get hers too.

Good Morning to all. Its cooling down here now but we have no sign of snow yet(fingers crossed)Summicron So sorry to hear of your ordeal but praying for you :
Not a lot going on today other than I am doing some bible study to bring the word Sunday night. So if you would pray for me I would appreciate it.
Blessings to you alll ;))

Summicron ~ What an ordeal.  You are a great story teller.  Kept my interest right to the end.

Short night again.  I couldn't get to sleep so I got up and read.  I was reading 'The Princess' by Lori Wick and finished it.  Went back to bed at 3am.

The alarm was set for 7am.  Barb and Kaye Don got a letter saying trash pickup was changed to Thursdays but didn't say what time.  When it was on Wednesdays, it was early...real early...7:30am.  So I walked my trash over in the dark this morning.  I don't like that.  6 cars passed me driving like they were at the Indy 500.  But the trash is still out there so maybe they won't pick it up early.

No where to go today so I plan on working on my calenders for everyone in the family.

God is good. My husband was able to sell his truck for a decent amount and along with some of our money, put it together to buy a minivan. he never was a minivan person, nor I really... but it's been on his heart since we've been together that that's what we should get, maybe God's got something planned for us in the near future.  :) it was a good deal, a dodge grand caravan, what's cooler is the owner is a christian. the truck was sold to a fellow christian as well.

our little kitten is doing well, ear mites killed, and we finally have been able to hold her still enough to get her nails trimmed.

pray for our church as we plan the harvest party and get it all ready for the 31st. the kids always have a blast at it, and parents can relax and fellowship while their kids have fun with the games.

Judy, I've only seen that once in my life, and it was so very beautiful, other-worldly.  And I didn't have a camera with me.  I wanted to just pull of along the road and be blessed with what I was seeing, but had my granddaughter with me and we were on our way to purchase her Christmas puppy and had a long way to go.

Pitbullangel, have fun at your Harvest party.  I'm sure the kids will have so much fun........and be SAFE, which is what we parents and grandparents want.

Listening to "my" station on Pandora called "Faith Sounds".   What a blessing to let these sounds of worship fill my ears and my heart all day long.  I went online and have been listening since morning.

Summicron, I sure hope you are feeling better each day.   That must have been frustrating, stressful, painful, and all of the above.  Thank God that it wasn't worse, and that He was right there with you.

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  This has been a very busy day and I am pretty tired this evening.  I met our daughter at Grady hospital in the diabetic clinic about 9:30 this morning.  She had gotten to the hospital early and had already gotten her prescriptions but was waiting to get a doctor to sign a form regarding special shoes for diabetics.  She saw the foot doctor and the blister is healing and he removed more of the dead tissue around it.  He confirmed that the MRI she had sometime ago proves she has Charcot Syndrome in her foot where the bones are softening and can crack very easily.  He told her she needs to be fitted with a special boot to help keep weight off the front portion of her foot.

We went back to her apartment and I put together the metal shelves I had taken down for her.  It turned into a rather long and very tiring job but I finally got all the fastenerns in place and the shelves put in place and loaded.  I tried to set up a wireless Internet connection but wasn't successful so guess she will continue to use the ethernet cable from the DSL.

As soon as we got back to the house I laid down to rest for about an hour.  My wife and daughter are out shopping for a new winter coat for our daughter.  She will see the chiropractor tomorrow to try to get some relief for the pain in my back.

I have read all of your postings but will not comment tonight.

Summicron

Oh the irony of it all, here am I confined to barracks, chaffing to get out there with my camera into the big wide world, well Lancashire at least, its more than a person can bear :'( Well its chucking it down at the moment, so not much point wenturing out anyway, I'm missing all those incredible places to be. Hey guess what? I've just found one of the first pictures I ever took, it was taken in Morcambe, must be forty years old, its a picture of a pirate ship at sunset. Did you ever see the film.Treasure Island starring Jack Hawkings? I think that was his name, well this was the ship used in the film. Right scanning and posting time I think. Doesn't God bless you when your low?  ;D ;D ;D :-\

Hi everyone.  It is raining here this morning and suppose to be cool and a bit unpleasant outside.  However, we sure need the rain.

Summicron, sorry to read of your fall and that it has incapacitated you for awhile but this too shall pass.  Hope you are feeling better each day.  Finding the older photo indicates that you may be having time to look back over old photos that you probably don't have time to do when you are out and about.

I had a good nights sleep and feel much better this morning.  We have our Friday morning men's coffee at the senior center here in our town today.  My neighbor is riding with me this morning.  I think my schedule for the rest of the day is light and I am looking forward to that.

Just turned on the news and it appears this is going to be a terrible day for our economy and the same for the financial markets around the world.  I will be very glad when this election is over.  Here in Georgia they are spending tons of money to defeat our current senator and keep repeating these political ads and one of them is a total lie.  The mute button on my remote control is getting a lt of use.

Hope everyone has an enjoyable day today.

TEARS FROM HEAVEN

Tears from heaven fell today
As we gathered by your grave to pray
Our last chance to say goodbye
As the rains fell, how I did cry

The loss I feel each and every day
Must be the same as His body they did lay
In a tomb on the day Jesus died
Oh how they must have cried

Loss of a child is a grievous sorrow
Something we thought would be for tomorrow
Never thinking it could happen today
Yet deaths shroud covers you where you lay

But we have hope in the resurrection
We are covered by the Father's protection
Tho this mortal body of ours can die
Our spirits to heaven, they will fly

This is the promise given to us
If only we will come to Jesus
Then children of God we will be
And to His bosom we can flee

So to His loving arms we fly
One gone home, one to cry
Both comforted by His love
Sent to us from heaven above

Tears from heaven fell today
As we gathered by your grave to pray
Tears of comfort from our loving God
As we laid you to rest beneath the sod

We had an interesting item on the local news today.  A cougar was spotted at 10:00 am crossing a city road.  Seems strange that it would be so close to homes.  There is not a shortage of food for them this year, pleanty of dear and moose, but I guess they are becoming immune to human smell.

Janet there was another picture you would have stopped for .  A partially snow covered tree, with mist and the sun shining through the branches.  A real star effect.  It was amazing.  I really gotta get a film for John's camera!

It seems our town is the only town that is still covered in snow.  More should melt/evaporate today but in the shaded areas it remains.

Have a great day folks.  Take a minute to look at the photo's and comment,  some are really spectacular!

Am praying.

Good Morning I was waiting to see if anyone else was going to post here, but tho't I'd better get in here and do it myself.  I went to that banquet last evening and the food was awful, we were offered either a choice of shredded salty pork, ginger chicken or grilled veggies, we could only have one serving of one of those on a little bed of shredded cabbage. I had the veggies. then there was the  glue (rice, ) didn't have that, some macaroni salad and a lettuce salad, (just lettuce), I had some of the salads, then there was a small amount of poi and cake for desert.  I won't say anymore about the meal just that I didn't see many people who were please with the menu. I did, however, gather  some new  caregiving materials from the service providers.

Jeannine ~ I went to your website for Michael.  God knew what he was doing when he sent Michael...a special child...to you...a special parent.  You made my heart smile as I was reading about your love for Michael and his needs.  God Bless You...you have already been blessed but may He bless you more.

Nothing special to do today.  It is raining, dark, gloomy, yucky out.  So I plan to stay in and hope it stops raining when I need to get the mail from the mailbox.  It is noon already but that came fast today since I didn't get out of bed until 9:15!!!!  That was pretty good since I didn't go to bed the night before until 3am and up at 7am!

Summicron:  You mentioned that you can't give up sweets.  I am here to tell you that, YES, YOU CAN.  Don's numbers were sorta high in the springtime and he quit bread and sweets - well, very few times with bread and then a half slice or only one slice.  It is very hard as I decided that it would be a good idea since my dad had diabetes late in life so I have been pretty much on the same wave length.  Just start off little and don't have that dessert.  Remember, you must take care of yourself.

Jeannine:  Your tribute to Michael is so loving and dear.  A great testimony.

I have corned beef in the crockpot and will add cabbage and carrots soon.  A loaf of molasses oatmeal bread should be ready for suppertime - with salad and a brothy veggie soup - that is it.  Cousin should arrive from Minnesota around noon or later.

Here is a laugh for you.  Yesterday, I made Kringle, a Scandinavian baked dessert, for the dinner group - we were spiffed up and I even put on lipstick and knocked on the proper door in the neighborhood, carrying my dessert.  No one answered but we found the couple out walking.  Wrong week & day.  How did both of us get it so wrong???  So, I gave the dessert to a son - they are leaving tomorrow for Florida to fish and vacation and we will go and dog sit.  But - are you reading this Summicron? ...... we didn't eat the dessert, even though it is fantastic.

Summicron

ep I'm online at the moment, didn't know bread was off the menu, love bread and jam with cheese, never had anything else for breakfast.

Marilyn

Bread is a no no for diabetics. only 1 slice per day no jam with sugar in it either.

Summicron

I don't think I can do this, at all, what am I supposed to eat?

Al Moak

Summicron - have you heard of Splenda?  It's sold in all the grocery stores these days, and it has NONE of the effects of sugar, yet it sweetens just like sugar.  It's supposed to be good for diabetics.

Summicron

Al, I can get Splenda three packs for a pound, in some pound shops, and I've six packs of the stuff in, thanks for the tip anyway.

Al Moak

I use Splenda in my coffee in the morning and also on my cereal.  We get several kinds of jams & jellies that are made with Splenda.  Even some bottled juices are made with no sugar added, and they add Splenda instead.

Summicron

I've had drinks with splenda, they're nice, but getting stuff with splenda instead of sugar, in is like trying to find rocking horse droppings where I live. The only time I'vefound things like that is in pound shops, where they have spot items that never get repeated, none of the big supermarkets carry them.

Liz

Rain again today!  Went grocery shopping this morning and did some errands.  Nothing exciting happening today.

Lots of good things out there for you to eat, Summicron.  Check the internet, library, etc.  Have known many folks with the problem and they do fine.  I thought it was impossible to give up coffee....now have learned to like tea.  Love coffee and spent most of my life drinking pots of the stuff.....also many foods no longer on my menue.  Hang in there, you will do fine :)

Here is a little trivia for the season:

                                         PUMPKIN LEGEND

The carved jack-o'-lantern dates back to medieval Ireland. Its legend involves an Irishman named Jack who was too stingy to go to heaven and too mischievous to go to hell. Jack had to wander Earth until Judgment Day with a lantern made from a hollowed-out turnip with a live coal inside. Children started making these lanterns on Halloween; in the New World, they switched from turnips to pumpkins.

                       :-\

Colin, is that true?

When is Janet returning?  I miss her.
Al, I hope you are feeling better.  We both have to deal with a lot of pain....at least that is one way of knowing we are still alive.  I read your reply about Universalism (?) and it was good.  So much confusion out there....

Pleasant Day/Evening and God Bless.

Liz

CHANGE NOT THY FAITH WITH CHANGING TIMES

Summicron

I'd like to read that on universalism, can youtell me where it is. I was going to go to bed but messages keep popping up all over the place.

A big thanks to you all for all the encouragement, hang in, well I'll try, just don't mention having pasta for meals, its the most gross stuff ever invented, that and tuna, besides I do like tea Liz, and without sugar, sugar to me ruins tea. I guess I can start by taking my medication regularly, which I am with a little help.

Gord Brown

:)    Good evening to all.  I do hope that you are all doing O.K.

Summicron:  I can tell you that it is the hardest thing to give up eating the things that you enjoy so much like desert's and of course bread.  I was brought up with having bread all the time up in Scotland and when my mum was able to make some desert's they sure did not last very long around 4 men .  We will all pray for you that you will have the strength to try the best you can to cut back.  Have a great weekend   Gord.

Etta Sue:   That must be hard not getting enough sleep and then being busy so look after yourself and don't overdo it.

Pat:  How are you and Paul doing hope all is well.  Talk to us.  Love ya big sis.

To all others may the give you a wonderful weekend.  My wife and I were up at my lodest son's and his wifes place to look after our granddaughter and we had so much fun and she never slows down.  We were able to take her out by ourselves for the first time and she was so good and on the way hom she fell asleep so you can tell that we are enjoying our grandchildren.  Goon Night. <3      Gord and Noreen :)

Al I read all the rhetoric about the Universalism, I like the way you gently  replied to  what had been posted. altho I think maybe  a less subtle approach maybe have been more effective. Maybe, maybe not it's hard to tell, but your ending said it all. Thank you.

Hi everyone.  It is still chilly here in Georgia but not raining and is suppose to clear up and warm up into the 60s later this afternoon.

Today is our son's 45th birthday.  We will be talking with him later today.

We will leave for a meeting shortly and then this afternoon we will take our daughter home to her apartment.  The trunk is full of groceries so she shouldn't have to shop for a couple of weeks.  She will be coming back out after the first of the month as the chiropractor has a free appointment day each year and it will be on Nov. 3rd.  She had a treatment yesterday and got along fine with it with no pain in her heart surgery area.  These treatments help her feel better for a couple of days.

Jeannine, another very caring poem--thanks for sharing it with us.

Summicron, I also love bread and deserts but have found that I can self-discipline myself and have seen the results in weight reduction.  I am not diabetic so do enjoy a few pieces of hard candy on most days.

Marilyn, that meal makes one wonder why they even bothered.  Sorry it wasn't good.

Carol, I bet your son wasn't sorry you mixed up the dates of your get together.

Good Morning.  Partly sunny/partly cloudy in central Indiana and cold...not cool...cold.  Only 42° right now with a breeze that makes it feel colder.

Today I have to call the ladies for Euchre Tuesday.  Then I am making Crockpot Macaroni and Cheese and an electric skillet of fried potatoes with onions...if my SIL brings the potatoes.  Kaye Don and Barb are having a fish fry for the family tonight before they leave for Florida around the first of November.  It will be fun and good!!

Kitty got home from St. Louis yesterday and called to see if I wanted go out to eat last evening.  When we do that, we know it will be Mexican.  So she saw a new Mexican restaurant south of us on the way home from S.L. so we went there.  Didn't go in.  It looked like a Taco Bell type restaurant so we went west of there and ate.  Very good.  When we got back to her house, I went in.  She is remodeling two bathrooms and wanted help in deciding which jacuzzi tub and tiles that will be on the floor, walls and tubs sides.  I asked her if she had thought of black grout?  That would break up the monotony of light stuff!  Besides the grout is what is hard to keep clean!

That's it.  Sunny right now with dark clouds in the west.

My neighbor Mimi took me to dinner last night, we went right up the street to Carmela's for Mexican, I had a dish that I had never tried before a Huarache it is a tortilla on a plate with black beans, shredded beef, cilantro, cactus. her special sauce and  shredded jack cheese on top. Mmm Mmm it sure was good, What I brought home in my doggy bag I had for breakfast.

Gilbert, Sarah and I may be going to the Holistic Health Fair today, if they decided to go with me, I am going regardless. Nothing else on my agenda today.

Well, hey there, all y'all ...

I'm back from a full week of stress and annoyance.  I've done more waiting for phone calls to be returned and appointments that ended up cancelled .... Oh, well, God is teaching me patience with a capital P...

I am very tired but happy to be back home in my own little nest on the south coast of Oregon.  I'd appreciate it if all y'all would pray for situations in California beyond my control but totally in the Lord's hands.

I'll be back as soon as I get some rest ..... Later.....

Hi everyone.  Jane, glad to see you are safely home but sorry to read of your frustrations while away.

I am ready for church this morning.  The choir is singing a beautiful anthem this morning with a wonderful message.  I am sure we will go out to lunch after church, probably with our group of church friends.

Yesterday afternoon I took our daughter back to her apartment.  It was so much easier in getting in her groceries and other items we were taking back to her apartment without the steps and the long corridor that we faced with her old apartment.  I was able to find a grocery type cart and put things in it and pushed it.  It took two trips as she had groceries for 2 weeks and some other things.  She is pretty well settled into her little apartment.

Etta Sue and Marilyn, your meals at the Mexican restaurants sounds good.  About a week ago we ate at one of the Mexican restaurants close by and always enjoy it.  That is the only time I eat the chips and salsa.

Hope this is a nice day for everyone.  It looks like it will be one here and it was certainly nice yesterday.  It was made better when Georgia University beat LSU in football.

Marilyn

.Good Morning I went to the Holistic Health Fair with Gilbert and the kids,I had the tickets and invited  them to go. We got lots of new information and the Natural Food Store in Eureka had many baskets full of nutritional samples, from creams to vitamin supplements for kids and adults.

Then later I went to the potluck at the church down the street where I am going again today (my old church).

Welcome home Jane, I am so sorry to heat that you had such a troublesome time while you were away. I do pray that you eventually got everything settled  for now.
Will you have to make another trip soon? I am praying for you sister.

Jane ~ It is frustrating when your time is limited and others take their own sweet time in helping you get things done.  Did you get anything accomplished that you headed out to do?

Church was great as always.  Great message about God and our church not being 'ours' but 'his'.  We are wanting to build on and I think that we all needed that message.  Then Sunday School was about God telling Abram to go and set up a new area and promising him many descendants.  He took Sarai and his nephew, Lot....Lot because Abram was already 75 years old and no children so Lot could have the descendants.

Later 5 of us ladies went out to eat.  When I got home I went to Lapel to the bank for money and the Dollar General for milk.  Now I am comfy at home for the rest of the day.

Larry ~ Do you have Chili's there?  They have the best chips and salsa than anywhere.  And they are bottomless.  As many chips and salsa that you can eat for one price.  Sometimes Kitty and I go there just for chips, salsa and diet Pepsi's!!!  Yum!!

I finally got 8 to play Euchre.  Of the original 8, only 4 were playing so I had to get four subs!!  Glad I don't have to have them here for at least 8 more months.  Three of them head to Florida for the winter so I am saying...forget it during the winter months!!

Time to kick back and watch some TV and maybe, just maybe a nap or two!!

Going to church it was calm and cool outside.  When we came out of church about the same.  But when we came out of the restaurant, it was windy.  We are suppose to have 60mph winds the rest of the day!!  Whew!!  I am glad I am staying inside...I could blow away!!  ha!

MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM

Nita

Jane, when you get rested up, call me.  Or if you don't, I'll call you. lol

It's warm here today.  Warm outside, but cold in my house.  I get the afternoon sun and that warms it up some, but not today.  I think I need to sit outside.  I'll have to battle with spiderwebs to get a spot. :)

Larry, I'm glad your daughter has the new apartment that is easier to navigate.

Marilyn, sounds like you came home with all kinds of neat "stuff".  It was great that Gilbert and the kids could go with you.

Etta Sue, I have to say that Mexican is my favorite food and chips and salsa....well, lets just say I overdo when they are around.

Gotta go do some more vacuuming.  I thought when we took the carpet out that it might help the dust, but it seems to be everywhere.  Coming out of the walls, I guess.

Al Moak

Nita, it's our electric personalities that attract the dust and make it stick to everything!  You vacuum it up, take the bag out, and, in the order of things, it gets back into the air, sneaks through our windows and doors, and redeposits on the electrically charged things again.  See?  It's all your fault.

Nita

I always thought that I didn't dust enough.  Sneaky old dust anyway.
