Morning Devotional...

That Name

You have kept my word and have not denied my name (Revelation 3:8, NIV).

Dear friends:

In a previous message, I mentioned the mighty and holy name, "Jesus," that name which is above every name, which every tongue shall confess, and at which every knee shall bow.

Most scholars believe His Hebrew name, the name which Mary and His friends called Him, was Yeshua, meaning salvation. That is what the angel told Joseph to call Him, "because he will save his people from their sins" (Matthew 1:21. NIV). Jesus is an anglicized rendering. But we know that He answers to both!

Have you ever mentioned the name "Jesus" in a secular setting, such as at a social gathering or place of business? If you have, you may have noticed that things get suddenly quiet, or there are other interesting reactions.

A Christian friend was standing in a line at the Post Office recently and struck up a conversation with a man standing in front of him, who began bragging about being a runner. The man said that he runs seven miles a day, and eats only raw fruits and vegetables, especially juices, explaining how the nutrients in the juices go immediately into the system to the cells. He also said that while he ran, he meditated.

"Aha," my friend thought to himself," this is a good opening." He replied to the runner, "On what do you meditate?"

The man said that he was into yoga, but he was unclear as to what he actually meditated on. Perhaps he just caused his mind to go blank, maybe uttering a Hindu yoga chant, opening himself up to demonic influence -- a danger of New Age meditation.

My friend's next words were like a knife slicing the air, and when he spoke, it was like truth and eternity itself suddenly invaded that Post Office. He said, "I meditate on Jesus."

A lady was standing next to them in line, overhearing the conversation. Upon hearing the name of Jesus, she suddenly lit up and smiled, giving an affirming nod, saying, "Yes, that's it." Surprisingly, the man himself seemed suddenly enlightened, agreeing that it was a good idea to meditate on Jesus. I have no doubt that runner will never be the same and, in answer to my friend's prayers, he will finding himself running and thinking about Jesus!

Let us always be ready to inject that powerful name whenever the Holy Spirit gives opportunity.

Yours for helping to fulfill the Great Commission
each year until our Lord returns,

Bill Bright

:)Good morning to all.  I am up very late as I have been away all day singing  with my chorus.  It is so wonderful to be able to praise his Almighty Name with close to 90 other men.  All gospel music and we sing in Capella 4 part harmony.  I have looked at the post's and as always lots to pray about.

Larry:  Great to see that your daughter is getting settled.  Praise the Lord for the strength that he gave to you and your wife.

Janet:  Thank you for the great devotional and be blessed for it.

Colin:  Where are you come back and give us some more beautiful poems.

To all others on C.P.  Have a wonderful and Blessed week.  Love in Christ.  Gord and Noreen. :)

Today is cleaning day again.  I am doing some laundry, I have already dusted.  I need to run the sweeper and make a pumpkin pie.  The rest is just incidental, doing as I see needs to be done.  If it doesn't get done, oh, well.

I acually ended up with 9 for Euchre so I will tell Ivalou that she can stay home and be warm and cozy.

Not too much to say today.  Only 36 degrees!!!!

Hi everyone.  Fall has really arrived in Georgia.  Today the high is suppose to be 58 degrees and we are also having some wind.

Etta Sue, we do have Chili's in our area and I alway like to go there.  I don't remember whether I have had chips and salsa there as I usually have the chili.  However, one time I tried the white chili and didn't care for it at all, certainly not as good as the regular chili.

Today for coffee we had to go to a Waffle House as McDonald's closed their dining room for 3 days to do some remodeling.  The booth held only 4 so we pulled up a chair.  One of the men picked up the check for everyone and my friend Rod was the last to arrive.  He ordered a pecan waffle.  The plate wasn't solidly on the table and when he went to but a piece of it off the plate flipped.  He caught the remainder of the waffle and the plate landed on the floor.  The waitress insisted they give him a new waffle.  However, before they got back he looked down into his lap and fortunately he had placed his newspaper out and the half fold was literally covered with sticky syrup and debris from the waffle.  When his new waffle came one of the men changed places with him so his plate had a solid footing.  We all laughed and laughed as no harm had been done, other than to the newspaper.  You would have to have been there to get the full effect.

Marilyn, glad your family went to the fair with you as sure it made it more enjoyable for you.

Gord, it was our faith that helped us get through all of the turmoil of this summer.  It sounds like you had a great time with your choir.  We had a good sized choir yesterday and sang a truly beautiful and meaningful anthem.

Janet, thanks for the new devotional for this week.

Pat just headed out to WalMart to get a new steam iron.  She plugged hers in yesterday and it wouldn't heat.  With her quilting she uses a steam iron a lot.

Today is my men's luncheon day.  We are trying out a new restaurant that opened about a week ago here in the town where I live.  I hope it will be good.  The housekeeper is suppose to be here around 1 pm today.  After coffee this morning two other men and I went walking at the church gym.  I was able to walk a mile this morning, something I haven't been able to do for a long time.

Good morning everyone, Not much new here so far today, it is still too early.  I didn't go to Tai Chi this morning I am trying to reach the Community action agency to get help with my Power bill this winter. I have been trying for  months and get so frustrated at the constant busy signal and then I have to leave for work about a half and hour into the calling time, but the time I get back it is too later for another week.

I am doing 2 loads of laundry and will bake cookies this afternoon, Keith will be home here on Friday so I like to get my baking  done  early. Wednesday I will bake a Blackberry pie and we will go grocery shopping on Saturday.

Hey everyone (https://www.christianphotographers.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwebzoom.freewebs.com%2Fmarilyn_793%2Fniceday.gif&hash=1b45f9bbc178b6633997bf40784cc45b6b4a4007)

Janet:  Thanks for devotions - interesting and thoughtful.

Larry:  Funny morning with that waffle - wiffle waffle.

This is the week that we are dog-sitting.  We sleep overnight and after feeding and putting braces on one dog's two front legs, we head home.  I am a bit sleepy - the dogs decided to just get up and walk around last night...but we had a different dinner than intended.  Here is that story.  I fed the two dogs and Willow gulped hers down so quickly - then Ginger had to be coaxed, spoken softly to and hand fed because she gets timid when anything changes.  While I was fussing with Ginger, I heard a rustling noise & thought it was Don - nope.  It was Willow, and she had found the corned beef I had brought with me and another little bag of the molasses oatmeal bread I had just baked.  She ate everything including most likely some plastic.  Thankfully, she did not get sick - I sent her outdoors a bunch while I found pork chops and green beans to cook for dinnertime.  That dog!  Years ago, she got into visitors suitcase and ate all the chocolate candy.

Things are calm this morning back at our own house for just the daytime & Don is in here measuring and ready to cut boards for the closet that he is making into storage for office supplies.  We can put the vacuum in here as well so it doesn't have to be in the front clothes closet.

Summicron:  You have lots of good advice from everyone and you can find out what you should eat and what you should stay away from probably best get a list from the doctor's office.

It is warming slowly outside and we will walk later.  I have to go to Michaels to get more yarn - am going to start knitting again - they didn't give me my discount yesterday and I don't know how to start this simple scarf.  This week, we have band concert one night and then a dinner club on Wednesday.  The dogs are behaving very well, except for the one that was a piggy last night.

Marilyn:  Good luck with getting through on the phone!  Mmmmmm Blackberry pie - I'm coming!

I got my cookies baked and walked the dogs this afternoon. I was trying to down load a different firewall and it  took out MSN messenger I had a heck of a time getting it all straightened out and getting messenger working again. Needless to say I  uninstalled that firewall. I only have a few days left on the Window Live One and I would love to keep it but right now I can't afford it.

Larry can you recommend a good free firewall? It was Commodo that took out my MSN, I had Commodo before and it didn't  do that.

We have snow again here in the north.  I really dread winter.  Went down to the furnace to light the fire and it was out cold.  So a start from scratch.  Thankfully we had lots of blankets during the night.

People know you are prayed for.  There are so many needs that are expressed and not expressed here on CP, that I am feeling a special burden to pray at night.  So know you all are prayed for.

Elizabeth has a field trip to an outdoor center today.  Sure hope she has dressed warmly enough.

Must go have a great blessed day.

Snow - We can see snow any month of the year - that is in the mountains.   :coffee:

JudyB:  Thanks for praying for everyone.  That is so kind of you.  I am sorry that you are having glitches with that furnace.

;)  Hello Melody!  Looking to my left - there you are waving the Good Morning Sign - you will tire your arms out doing this all day.

Time for a walk.

Marilyn:  Taking care of the dogs has been so funny - they get a bone at 8 PM and at 7:59, they were "in my face" waiting for that bone.  All the sighing and moaning to get their way - it is just so funny.

Don is at a meeting and I think it has warmed up enough for me to take a walk.  I had to drive straight into the morning sun today.

Speaking of animals.  I shut down the laptop before going to bed.  It makes a little bell ringing noise when it shuts down.  Inky hears it and knows she is going to get fed soon.  Last night she was even in another room and hear the little bell ringing.  Here she came a-running, when in a circle and off to the utility room to be fed!!!  They used to do that when the TV was shut off but now it is the little bell ringing.  Cute.

I am all ready for another day of Euchre.  I will be glad when it is over and I can relax until the next big thing comes along.

When I got up this morning, it was 31.6°!!!!!!  A little warmer now.  I have turned up the furnace for company.  I don't need it that warm but company might.

Off I go to see if there is anything else to do.

Oh yes animals are funny. When I drive up to take the lady and her dogs for a walk one is at the window waiting for me to get out of the car and runs to the door and If I don't leave the back door on the car open she runs back to me and started "telling" me to open the door. the other dog always waits for the lady and  keeps telling her to hurry  up. If I am late getting there they wait by the window  to see if I am there yet.

I am baking the pie when I get home from work today. My friend Willa gave me a jar of Raspberry  freezer jam this morning, mmmmm it sure is good.

Hi everyone.  It is really chilly here today.  We went to Waffle House for coffee and their heat wasn't working and the air conditioner seemed to have been on.  I just got back from a meeting and it was rather cool in the meeting room.  Soon I will get under my electric blanket and warm up for the afternoon.

Today is a preparatory day for me for that test we all dread but which is very important.  The test will be over by noon tomorrow.  They called earlier this morning to remind me I had a $75 co-pay since I have to have this done at the day surgery center due to the pacemaker/defibulator.  They have to use a special magnet on the device to protect things from electrical shock.  Fortunately I will be unconscious during the procedure.

Marilyn, I have used the free Zone Alarm as the firewall on several computers.  Currently I am using the OneCare Microsoft program and plan to continue with it next year.

Good afternoon.  It is also very cool and very windy up here in Welland Ontario. Canada.  I am about to go out and get cold as I have to get our garden furniture  put away.  I just keep putting it of but cannot do that any longer.

Larry:  Hope all goes well on the test.  I am also doing some my self as the doctor is doing a full medical.  ;)

That's so true, Gord.

When we were clearing out the house after Dad died, we found lots in that freezer that were still able to be used.   I'm wanting to get my huge one empty and get it thrown out as it's an energy guzzler since I've had it since 1967!!!

I'd like to get a new one (upright).

SNOW.  Hey folks don't you know that is a four letter word????

I am late getting going today.  Rough morning.  I lost something at home on monday and have spent the rest of the week looking for it.   Well 12:30 last night I found the item and was finally able to rest.  Reminds me of the verse "Seek and you will find."

Pat I will see you on Friday.  Heading to Kitchener with Dana.

Got to run

God Bless all

Nothing much planned for today. Will walk the dogs later when it warms up some. Maybe I will so some vacuuming or something that will get me out of this chair. Give me the heat any day.  I will never complain about the heat, but the cold goes right through my bones and I find that hard.  It will be a warm -1 C here today that is about 30F for our southern folks.

If you judge a good time by the talking and laughter, everyone had a good time yesterday!  They were all here by 1pm and didn't leave until 4:40pm.  I had all the dishes done, everything put up and away by 5:50pm.  Great time....but glad it is over.

Now I want to crochet an afghan out of scraps for a Christmas present.  I put all the scraps out on the floor, organize the colors and crochet.  My house will be a mess until it is done....hope the kitties co-operate and not move the yarn around too much!!

Tomorrow is a fasting blood test at 9a.m.  We are trying to go out to eat somewhere for my SIL's birthday (Nov 17) but they are leaving for Florida Friday, I think.  And Friday afternoon, I have a furnace/A/C man coming to clean the furnace and check the A/C.  Then nothing until election day!!!!

Nice and sunny in Indiana but cold...40 degrees.  Windy, too.  But the solar heat is running and the electric fireplace so it is nice and cozy in here.  Did I say I was so relaxed that I didn't get up until 9:50am this morning and only then because the phone rang????

We just had an email showing the picture of a darling Korean 5-month-old girl being adopted by good friend's daughter & SIL in Washington.  Everyone is so happy - she is a beautiful, serene looking child.  Child of God!

We went to a school band and orchestra concert last night - WOW is all I can say.  The kids have improved so much - our grandson plays First Seat trumpet - he really does a lot of practice and now they have a very accomplished band teacher.  Don did the same so many years ago,  with the same old  trumpet so it is so much fun watching them.

Larry:  Good for you for getting that test over.

JudyB:  It sounds like you need to wear long underwear in the house.  We have lived in houses like that and I know the chill seems to go right through your bones.  Even the furniture seems cold.

Etta Sue:  I love the animal stories.   I was just going to post and here you are - your scrap yarn crocheting sounds interesting - very different.  I just bought two skeins of lightweight yard to make a knit scarf - am all thumbs & wish someone could come and help me.  Glad your day yesterday went well - of course it would, you are so friendly.

It's a little chilly here this morning, too, but should warm up to about 69 or so.  I hope it warms up some...we're suppose to go to my friend's son's football game late this afternoon.

I grew up in So Cal and my grandparents lived in Garden Grove, so we were there a lot.  I much prefer the four seasons here in Idaho to the generally good weather year-round and smog of Socal.  Maybe when I'm older I'll long for the warmer, more predictable weather of California again.  We will see.

Food, fun and fellowship are planned for this Friday night at my mom's.  Should be fun.  We don't celebrate holloween, but our church usually does some harvest festival in October or November and my mom always passes out candy on Holloween so she can also pass out Christian tracks.  We do that, too, if we are home.

I've been busy uploading images to my new website.  I just wasn't happy with the quality of prints from my other site's fulfillment center.  This one's great!  They offer framing, too.  Framed prints make great Christmas gifts! (hint hint...shameless, I know) LOL

I was sick all last week and every time I think I'm better, I go into the field to do some shooting and come home exhausted and feeling poorly again.  Never have gotten my energy back, yet.  Frustrating.

Not much else going on, just school.  I can't believe my oldest daughter's graduating this year.  Yesterday, when I was in the shower, they made a short film.  It's called "iSticky", it's one of their ongoing characters called Sticky Frog, dancing around to his ipod music.  It's pretty cute, but maybe not unless you're familiar with the character.  Here's the link, if you want to see it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1dG1DHtzCHU (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1dG1DHtzCHU)

Well, better go grade some papers now...you all have a Fantastic Day!

Etta Sue, I'm interested in knowing more about your afghan

What kind of yarn are you using and do you have a pattern in mind?  The reason I'm asking is that I have so much yarn in my basement that I must either use or get rid of as I do this horrendous job of decluttering.

I'd love it if you even wrote me about it.

Hi everyone.  I got a fine report from my test this morning with no problems noted and don't have to repeat it for 10 years.  Glad it is over but it wasn't bad.  They put me to sleep so when I woke up it was over.

It is chilly here again today but nice and sunny.

I am late today.  I had to take Dexter over to Heather's this morning.  On top of that Kassie was slow this morning.  Dexter is our rottweiller, and he is not well.  He has a lump the size of a California grapefruit on his hip.  I am not doing the vet thing because of the $$$$.  If it is what I think, he won't be with us much longer.  To those of you who remember Jake, he looks like him and has his personality.  BUT I didn't get as attached to him as I did Jake.

It is a beautiful morning this morning.  Cold but crisp and sunny.  Just a little frost on the windows not a heavy icing like we have been having.

Must run, God bless

Hi everyone.  I see there are only a couple or so of postings since I posted yesterday afternoon.  It is another crisp and sunny day here in the south but suppose to get up into the 60s today.

This morning after coffee at Waffle House (McDonald's didn't get open according to their original plan) we went walking at the church gym here in our town.  They have a preschool there and today the little kids came in their costumes and were so cute.  We really enjoyed seeing these little ones.

I stopped at the Post Office and mailed off the box to a soldier in Iraq that our choir put together.  We had 15 boxes ready last evening and there is enough stuff to have two more filled.  There is a flat rate to mail these boxes and have to have a customs form filled out and was attached a the Post Office.

I don't have anything else on the schedule where I expect to leave the house.  I want to finish reading a book I am reading and have several projects to take care of here on the computer, as well as get the bills organized to be paid on the 1st of the month.

Good Morning everyone, not much new here yet this morning, it is almost a do nothing day. I am going to work shortly then getting my nails done, back home after that and walk the dogs this afternoon, I may decide to vacuum the house  too. Laundry tomorrow morning, to get the last of it over with before Keith arrives.
I am going to   cook the last quarter turkey in the crockpot tomorrow too.

Sarah:  How sad for everyone when a child doesn't get the chance to grow up.

Pat:  I know Cod Liver Oil is good for joints, have not heard that about orange juice. Good luck with that de-cluttering.  Just remember that you will have a lot less "so-called free time" when you move into your new house.  It seems like the day fills here for us so quickly just when we think we might have "free time".  I hope that you get everything moved before the snow hits.

Don's knee suddenly gave out on him several times yesterday so when we came home this morning, I found an old stretchable knee support which I had used and this seems to be helpful.  We just spent a long time cleaning the fireplace glass - am sure these people before never took it apart - they didn't do anything.

A grand time at dinner group last night.  We are invited to another church for a concert/sermon the night before Thanksgiving.  My turn to host the dinner next month.  We sure have enjoyed visiting a lot of churches in the area.

As for my knitting a scarf, I took the easy way and am only knitting each short row and it is a bumpy pattern that way.  Onl 14 stitches across - it is looking OK so far.

Etta Sue:  Have you started your crocheting?

Yes, I have started my 'Afghan of Many Colors'.  My favorite pattern.  Pat, I sent you an email.  My living room floor is full of yarn.  I separate colors into piles.  Then each pile is sorted light to dark.  I start with a light color, a round each and change colors to the next lightest shade.  When done with one color, I start the lightest color of the next color.  If I run out of yarn on a round, I change to the next lightest shade and fasten off at the end of the round.

You can make it as small or as large as you want and I like it because there is no putting together at the end.  The last round is done!  Great for scrap yarn!!!  I have probably made 15 afghans of this pattern...makes a beautiful afghan all one color also!  If anyone wants the pattern, email me.

I got my blood test this morning and ate at Bob Evan's.  Then Ivalou needed something at Best Buy.

Then we went to AAA.  I am in NEED of getting away from these four walls.  So I said I was taking a map of Indiana, shutting my eyes, and pointing on the map.  That's where were are going.  I told the AAA agent this and he opened a map, turned it around and I pointed.  So Ivalou and I plan to go to Greensburg, IN, next Wednesday, Thursday and come home Friday.  I said we need a motel with a heated pool and internet.  They have two motels there with that.  Other than a tree growing at the top of the courthouse, nothing much else is at Greensburg, IN!

Now I am home for the day.  Cool today.  Only 26° when I got up and took the trash out.  But warmer now.  49° and sunny now.

Melody - absolutely every time I see one of your posts, the DJ in my head plays the following song.  So there!  Now you listen to it!  It's a good thing, but it happens every time.

In My Heart There Rings a Melody  (http://www.christianphotographers.com/sounds/in-my-heart-there-rings-a-melody.mid)
(Click to hear music)

"You yourselves are our letter, written on our hearts, known and read by everybody.  You show that you are a lttter from Christ, the result of our ministry, written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts." 2 Corinthians 3:2-3

Words & Music: Elton M. Roth.

I have a song that Jesus give me,
It was sent from heav'n above;
There never was a sweeter melody,
'Tis a melody of love.

Refrain

In my heart there rings a melody,
There rings a melody with heaven's harmony;
In my heart there rings a melody;
There rings a melody of love.

I love the Christ who died on Calv'ry,
For He washed my sins away;
He put within my heart a melody,
And I know it's there to stay.

Refrain

'Twill be my endless theme in glory,
Melody - absolutely every time I see one of your posts, it sets off the DJ in my head.  The song he plays in my head is as follows:

With the angels I will sing;
'Twill be a song with glorious harmony,
When the courts of heaven ring.

Refrain

AL ----I hope this part is true because down here I love to sing but I can't carry a tune they tell me ;D
So lets hope up there I can sing with the heavenly choir

The word says to make a joyful noise, I think to to God all of our "joyful" noise is music to His ears. So sing on Melody, keep on singing praises unto the Lord for it is a sweet sound to him.

Melody......that is the song I was trying to tell you about when I wrote my poem with Melody in the title and like Al, I hear it everytime I see your name. The teacher made me mime to the words of songs at school so you can guess how I sing! Sure didn't the same Lord that gave voices to larks and nightingales gave voices to frogs and crows that they may sing as well so Melody, you and I will keep singing our hearts out!  <3

Hi everyone.  Another chilly day here but should warm up a bit by afternoon.  I hope it isn't too chilly for the little ones to Trick or Treat this evening.  Last year we didn't have too many at the door.

This afternoon my friend Rod and I are going to Fry's and Costco.  Actually I am going along with him as don't expect to buy anything.  It should be an enjoyable afternoon.

Sarah, sorry to read of the problems in your community.  Hope that is an isolated instance and others won't be impacted.

Etta Sue, your trip sounds like fun.  I am sure you will find some interesting things when you get to your destination.

I am having some trouble with my desktop computer so have to do some research and try to figure out what is wrong.  It will run for awhile and then starts closing programs saying there is a problem.

It is warmer here than it has been lately, likely because of the rain. Some over night and more today, even more tomorrow. Enough of the weather report.

Not much happening her yet this morning, I have been to Curves for my workout, taken a shower and washed my hair.I have cut up the veggies for the dressing and put the turkey breast in the crockpot on low. Keith will be home here this afternoon so I am getting things prepared ahead of time.

He will not be bringing the Corvette this time but will bring the Camaro instead because I told him that I didn't want the Corvette sitting out on Halloween and one of the headlights won't close the way it is supposed to anyway.

I see that parts of SN are down again, the third time this week. I can't get to the  forums but can get every place else. I hope they get that fixed soon.

Pat, I sent an email to your rogers account.  Just sent one to you gmail account.  Which is the one you use the most or either?

Sarah, I like your ideas for costumes.  Which did you choose?

Ivalou got something at Best Buy that allows her to change channels on both TV's and only one satellite receiver.  The TV in the family room has the receiver.  She has a splitter on the coax and it goes to the TV in her bedroom.  Now with this remote something or other, she can change channels in the bedroom IF she has the satellite receiver on in the family room.  But it also changes the channel in the family room also.  Still both TV's have the same channel but she doesn't have to go to the family room to change channels now.  Clear as mud???

Anyway, the first one didn't work.  So we went back to Best Buy and exchanged it.  We got back and we couldn't get the new one to work either.  So we went to Pendleton for Chinese at a buffet since it was getting almost dark.  She called me this morning and she got it to work!!  Now she is all set and doesn't have to have the HD box in the bedroom when it is changed over.

Barb and Kaye Don are on their way to Florida now.  They will be staying with some people in Tennessee for a couple of nights.

Kitty stopped in yesterday afternoon and I was telling her about Ivalou's and my trip next Wednesday.  Kitty said, 'You can't go next Wednesday.  You have a dental appointment!'  Sure enough, I do.  So we are leaving Thursday morning which is better.  We can put out our trash before leaving and Ivalou can test her blood for her pro-time reading and call it in.  She won't have to take that equipment with her.  She is anxious to go somewhere also.

Bright and sunny in central Indiana and a little warmer today!  Good.  The furnace man is to come this afternoon to clean the furnace and to check out my A/C since it was noisier this summer.

My answers...

Here's my answer to...

How high does it get?

1.  What is the elevation where you live?

Guelph is 334 m (1,096 ft)

2,  What is the highest elevation you've ever visited?

Well, I don't know the answer to this exactly.  Snowdon (1085 meters I think) in Wales and Ben Nevis (about 1350 meters I think) in Scotland are probably the highest I've been but I don't know if Idaho is higher.  Must check that out.

3.  How high is your hairdo?

Not very high at all...sort of flat really!  ::)

4.  How many layers was the highest cake you've ever eaten? :surprise:

In April on our way to Florida, we stopped at a Diner that had a 5 layer lemon cream cake and Paul and I shared a piece.  Yummy for sure!

5.  How high is the volume when you play music?

I don't ever play music all that loudly except if it's pipe organ or huge choirs and that's when my walls vibrate--and the dog runs to the bedroom to sleep!

6.  How high is the price of gas/petrol in your area?

Right now (at least yesterday), the price was about 91.3 cents per litre.

7.  How high can you jump?

Not very high these days.  :(   About 12 inches?

8.  How high is the moon?  (meaning what do you wish for most?)

Well, I think that on my present "wish list" is a macro lens for my D80   I'd like to double my income.  I'd like to go to the UK on an extended trip.

OK, OK Pat!  I'm here!!!   :o  And here's the little chuckle you suggested I bring with me:

*Garage Wow*

There was a knock at the door. It was a small boy, about six years old. Something of his had found its way into my garage, he said, and he wanted it back.

Upon opening the garage door, I noticed two additions: a baseball and a broken window sporting a baseball-sized hole. "How do you suppose this ball got in here?" I asked the boy.

Taking one look at the ball, one look at the window, and one look at me, the boy exclaimed, "Wow! I must have thrown it right through that hole!"

;D

Etta Sue:  Thanks for the encouragement you gave on the afghan and for the pattern.  Maybe I will do the more concentrating part at home and then bring it along on a trip.

Colin:  I see that Melody has posted a Green smiley for you - must be Halloween for you too.

What a strange thing has happened that Halloween has taken over as such a huge sales event in our country.  I have never liked this idea of children running wild in the streets all spaced-out over getting candy & not looking for autos.  For years, we banned our children from going out on this date because we were so afraid they could hit a child.  But now I see the tremendous amount of money spent on decorating and costumes.  We always had pulled together stuff for our kids and they mainly grew up in a small village in Minnesota where it was downright freezing at this time of the year so they had coats & caps on anyway.

I bought a little travel iron at Goodwill and just cleaned the soleplate with vinegar and salt - perfectly new now.  This is just what is needed to my sewing room and taking with me to places where a little iron is all that is needed.  We are home this afternoon and I can't walk today because of an itchy sunburn I received from a hike two days ago - the one time I forgot sunscreen.  Here it is October.  It is supposed to be cold with at least rain.

Don't forget to turn your clocks back tonight!!!!  Isn't it tonight??

Thanks for doing the Trivia, Carol.

I think it's kind of interesting to get to know a person a bit better.

I never knew you were so high in elevation!

Paul was telling me that gas was $2.19 in Winchester, VA yesterday!

And, Carol, when did you jump off a cliff?????????????

Hi, Jeanne.  Thanks for bringing the chuckle.  I needed to remember to smile. :)

I've had electricians here today, 8 till 4:30.  Power was off for only a little while, but they come back on Monday.  I stayed home today, but on Monday will take the dogs and leave.  They were here yesterday, but one of the guys was so rude and foul language, that the contractor fired him.  One came back today, with the boss, and a new man with them.  They were nice too.

Is it tonight we turn our clocks back?           Nita

Hi everyone.  A special hi to Jeanne Lee.  It is great to see you posting here and it brings back memories of early days on SeniorNet.  Are you still helping out at your City Hall?

We had about 30 trick or treaters last evening, including about 5 young people who came back for a second time after teaming up with several others.  It was a beautiful night here but chilly again this morning.

Today is a big football day here in Georgia as it is the Georgia/Florida football game.  It comes on at 3:30 this afternoon so it won't interfere with my afternoon nap.

I enjoyed the trivia questions.  Don't know whether I can come up with any but will have to see.

Carol, Pat has a little iron she keeps handy at her sewing machine. She keeps a little ironing board on a little table that pulls up to her sewing machine to the left.

Not much on the schedule today. We will attend a meeting this morning and then have a restful and quiet afternoon and evening.  Tomorrow is commitment Sunday at our church to make our financial pledges for the next year followed by a fellowship luncheon.

Hope everyone has a nice day.

Hello!!  I have been numbered among the missing for weeks now.  Got home last night, and it feels wonderful to be here.  I don't want to go away again for a long time......at least a week!  ;)

It's been fun reading all the posts for this week, and I will come back later to answer the How High questions.

In my painting class this week, I actually completed FOUR paintings, a record for me.  I told my painting buddy I thought it was because I was so tired that I didn't worry about making mistakes!  Painting is always such a joy for me.

Larry, I am so happy your test turned out all right and you had no ill effects.  Pat, I hope you do not have to have one.

I have thousands of emails to get through, plus all the other catching up, so I'd best get to it!

Just for you, Pat. :)

Heh!  My last answer jumped right out of the quote box.

Rainy and rainy here this morning.  This was the day I'd chosen to take pictures for our new challenge, but unless it lightens just a tad, or we get some shadows or something, I may have to wait till Wednesday.

Jeanne, SN has been down  a lot lately.  I feel bad for Marcie and the volunteers, also the tech people, but they don't have to face a mostly frustrated group of seniors. :)

Welcome home.........again.........Janet. You are the most travelin' woman I know. :)

I forgot I had Halloween graphics.....

I started to do the 'How High' last night and I didn't have internet.  Checked the phone...it was dead.  Called Ivalou and she didn't answer.  Went over there and her phone was dead also.  Called Embarq and they said it would be fixed by 7pm tonight.  I got a call this morning....Tom (we are first name basis since I have Embarq DSL) said a corn picker got the line.  Seems the farmers are almost to the roads anymore and they don't leave much room for things like phone lines that are buried.  But I am back in the running again.

Nice kind of warm day in central Indiana.  I want to close my crawl-space vents and put in styrofoam this afternoon.  Every little thing helps for lower heat bills.  Also need to put a new battery in the garage door remote in the car.  Have to push the button too many times for the door to go up or down.

That's it for today!!!

It looks like a lot of people have similar wishes for how high the moon wish...me too.  Pat - I would never jump off a cliff - I just meant jumping & didn't think how high.   ;)  It is surprising that so many people have been to Colorado.

We hung a few more pictures today, did an hour walk and I was able to do it today.  It is so mild outside that I only wore a cotton long-sleeved shirt as a top.  We need moisture...There is chicken in the crock pot and we are going to a 5 PM service at another new to us church that is about ten minutes away.

Larry:  You didn't wish for yourself but that is so sweet to wish for your wife and daughter.

Don set up the laptop and little printer in my downstairs sewing room so here I am - the wireless works well.  Sunny and light in here.  On our walk this morning, we met one of our neighbors who lost his wife this week from complications of Alzheimer's Disease.  He is a WWII vet and now he will be able to take care of himself as he seems pretty strong for his age - he has been caring for her and she became suspicious of anything, very difficult for him.

Listening to classical music now at a medium/soft volume.

I'm sorry about the print size in the above post, don't know why it is so small.

Boy, busy day today!  As I finished posting this morning, Curtis, Toni and Lexi arrived, then Jeff a few minutes later.  Jeff went right back (just came to haul up his skid steer for Darrel and Curt to use in unloading some heavy tools and machinery).  Then Diane, Jeff, Mark and Abby came for supper.  So I was busy all day, now have the leaves taken out of the dining table, and the dishwasher is running; Darrel is in bed, and I am headed that way, too.  I will be more than happy to have that extra hour in the morning.

Nita, thanks for the welcome home.  I don't think I was missed in here much, but that's okay, too.  8)

I am all ready for church.  Ivalou is driving today.  She drove last week.  But since there were two days in a row this week that were odd days, she is driving again...even days for her.  Works for us.

I had a long day yesterday since I changed my clocks yesterday morning.  I went to bed early so still got that extra hour of sleep.

Kaye Don and Barb are in Florida.  She called Ivalou last evening and they are in Bradenton.

I am coming right along with my afghan...how are the rest of you doing?  Wouldn't it be fun to post pictures of our each individual afghan?

Cloudy today...I hope no rain until I get back home.  I might melt!!

We went to church last night and received the Sacraments along with the congregation.  Very nice church and the message was so good.  They do a lot of good work for Uganda as well as things in the city right here.  Every church we have gone to does a whole lot of outside work besides their own bible studies and so forth.

I slept so late and then wondered why Don turned the light on --tis the sun.

There is one church here that also has a Wednesday night service & singing and if our company doesn't come this week, we will try to visit that one as well.  We have been there on a Sunday morning and liked it as well.

Hi everyone.  I am ready for church but it still isn't time to go.  As I mentioned yesterday we will be having a congregational dinner after services this morning to celebrate our commitment Sunday.

I am having some problems with my desktop computer and have been trying to uninstall and reinstall the Windows One Care on it but am running into problems.  I will keep working on it until I get it fixed.

Janet, great to see you posting again

Jeanne, I am concerned about SeniorNet as well.  I think they are really feeling the financial pinch that the country is experiencing. There is a lot of unrest in our Learning Center as well and we are positioning ourselves to be able to continue without affiliation with SN if we have to do so.

Carol, I think I would be very confused as to what church to attend if I tried out too many as sure each has something to recommend them.  However, sure you and Don will make the right choice if you follow God's leading.

Just on my way to church.  Sunday School is great too.  We have a wonderful young man teaching the adult class and it's such a feast.

Talk to you all later

4.  How many layers was the highest cake you've ever eaten?4

5.  How high is the volume when you play music? Medium at home, medium loud in the car

7.  How high can you jump?  maybe 15"

8.  How high is the moon?  (meaning what do you wish for most?) That all our children in this blended family (My 5+ spouses and grands and  his 3) would ask Jesus into their hearts and be active in the church of their choice.
