Hi everyone.  Another chilly day here but should warm up a bit by afternoon.  I hope it isn't too chilly for the little ones to Trick or Treat this evening.  Last year we didn't have too many at the door.

This afternoon my friend Rod and I are going to Fry's and Costco.  Actually I am going along with him as don't expect to buy anything.  It should be an enjoyable afternoon.

Sarah, sorry to read of the problems in your community.  Hope that is an isolated instance and others won't be impacted.

Etta Sue, your trip sounds like fun.  I am sure you will find some interesting things when you get to your destination.

I am having some trouble with my desktop computer so have to do some research and try to figure out what is wrong.  It will run for awhile and then starts closing programs saying there is a problem.

Marilyn

It is warmer here than it has been lately, likely because of the rain. Some over night and more today, even more tomorrow. Enough of the weather report.

Not much happening her yet this morning, I have been to Curves for my workout, taken a shower and washed my hair.I have cut up the veggies for the dressing and put the turkey breast in the crockpot on low. Keith will be home here this afternoon so I am getting things prepared ahead of time.

He will not be bringing the Corvette this time but will bring the Camaro instead because I told him that I didn't want the Corvette sitting out on Halloween and one of the headlights won't close the way it is supposed to anyway.

I see that parts of SN are down again, the third time this week. I can't get to the  forums but can get every place else. I hope they get that fixed soon.

Pat, I sent an email to your rogers account.  Just sent one to you gmail account.  Which is the one you use the most or either?

Sarah, I like your ideas for costumes.  Which did you choose?

Ivalou got something at Best Buy that allows her to change channels on both TV's and only one satellite receiver.  The TV in the family room has the receiver.  She has a splitter on the coax and it goes to the TV in her bedroom.  Now with this remote something or other, she can change channels in the bedroom IF she has the satellite receiver on in the family room.  But it also changes the channel in the family room also.  Still both TV's have the same channel but she doesn't have to go to the family room to change channels now.  Clear as mud???

Anyway, the first one didn't work.  So we went back to Best Buy and exchanged it.  We got back and we couldn't get the new one to work either.  So we went to Pendleton for Chinese at a buffet since it was getting almost dark.  She called me this morning and she got it to work!!  Now she is all set and doesn't have to have the HD box in the bedroom when it is changed over.

Barb and Kaye Don are on their way to Florida now.  They will be staying with some people in Tennessee for a couple of nights.

Kitty stopped in yesterday afternoon and I was telling her about Ivalou's and my trip next Wednesday.  Kitty said, 'You can't go next Wednesday.  You have a dental appointment!'  Sure enough, I do.  So we are leaving Thursday morning which is better.  We can put out our trash before leaving and Ivalou can test her blood for her pro-time reading and call it in.  She won't have to take that equipment with her.  She is anxious to go somewhere also.

Bright and sunny in central Indiana and a little warmer today!  Good.  The furnace man is to come this afternoon to clean the furnace and to check out my A/C since it was noisier this summer.

My answers...

Here's my answer to...

How high does it get?

1.  What is the elevation where you live?

Guelph is 334 m (1,096 ft)

2,  What is the highest elevation you've ever visited?

Well, I don't know the answer to this exactly.  Snowdon (1085 meters I think) in Wales and Ben Nevis (about 1350 meters I think) in Scotland are probably the highest I've been but I don't know if Idaho is higher.  Must check that out.

3.  How high is your hairdo?

Not very high at all...sort of flat really!  ::)

4.  How many layers was the highest cake you've ever eaten? :surprise:

In April on our way to Florida, we stopped at a Diner that had a 5 layer lemon cream cake and Paul and I shared a piece.  Yummy for sure!

5.  How high is the volume when you play music?

I don't ever play music all that loudly except if it's pipe organ or huge choirs and that's when my walls vibrate--and the dog runs to the bedroom to sleep!

6.  How high is the price of gas/petrol in your area?

Right now (at least yesterday), the price was about 91.3 cents per litre.

7.  How high can you jump?

Not very high these days.  :(   About 12 inches?

8.  How high is the moon?  (meaning what do you wish for most?)

Well, I think that on my present "wish list" is a macro lens for my D80   I'd like to double my income.  I'd like to go to the UK on an extended trip.

OK, OK Pat!  I'm here!!!   :o  And here's the little chuckle you suggested I bring with me:

*Garage Wow*

There was a knock at the door. It was a small boy, about six years old. Something of his had found its way into my garage, he said, and he wanted it back.

Upon opening the garage door, I noticed two additions: a baseball and a broken window sporting a baseball-sized hole. "How do you suppose this ball got in here?" I asked the boy.

Taking one look at the ball, one look at the window, and one look at me, the boy exclaimed, "Wow! I must have thrown it right through that hole!"

;D

Etta Sue:  Thanks for the encouragement you gave on the afghan and for the pattern.  Maybe I will do the more concentrating part at home and then bring it along on a trip.

Colin:  I see that Melody has posted a Green smiley for you - must be Halloween for you too.

What a strange thing has happened that Halloween has taken over as such a huge sales event in our country.  I have never liked this idea of children running wild in the streets all spaced-out over getting candy & not looking for autos.  For years, we banned our children from going out on this date because we were so afraid they could hit a child.  But now I see the tremendous amount of money spent on decorating and costumes.  We always had pulled together stuff for our kids and they mainly grew up in a small village in Minnesota where it was downright freezing at this time of the year so they had coats & caps on anyway.

I bought a little travel iron at Goodwill and just cleaned the soleplate with vinegar and salt - perfectly new now.  This is just what is needed to my sewing room and taking with me to places where a little iron is all that is needed.  We are home this afternoon and I can't walk today because of an itchy sunburn I received from a hike two days ago - the one time I forgot sunscreen.  Here it is October.  It is supposed to be cold with at least rain.

Don't forget to turn your clocks back tonight!!!!  Isn't it tonight??

Marilyn

It's tomorrow night Carol.

Nita

Hi, Jeanne.  Thanks for bringing the chuckle.  I needed to remember to smile. :)

I've had electricians here today, 8 till 4:30.  Power was off for only a little while, but they come back on Monday.  I stayed home today, but on Monday will take the dogs and leave.  They were here yesterday, but one of the guys was so rude and foul language, that the contractor fired him.  One came back today, with the boss, and a new man with them.  They were nice too.

Is it tonight we turn our clocks back?           Nita

Al Moak

Nita - it's always on a Saturday night.  So it's tomorrow night.

Pat

Yep!

Supposed to be 2 am here on Sunday morning.

Now, who else is going to fill in the "Trivia"??

It's kind of fun reading it.

Can you all even imagine Alan jumping 3 inches?

Awww...  God bless you, Alan.  I'm not really making fun of you.

"Click for Waterloo Wellington, Ontario Forecast"

Nita

Al, she's not making fun of you.  She just can't imagine you jumping 3 inches.  I don't think Pat's gift, for tonight, is encouragement. :)

Eh?
