Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Kitty took me to Cancun, a Mexican restaurant in Carmel.  Carmel is where we used to swim.  Then we went to Hobby Lobby.  I purchased some yarn for an afghan for a baby boy, my step-granddaughter is to welcome her son to the world in November.  I got a card in the mail for a silent baby shower for her.  That's a first!!  You are to mail a gift to her address.  Besides it's the second child.  I never heard of showers for second children unless they are years apart.  Her daughter, Claire, just turned one in April.  Oh, well!

Then Kitty wanted to check out sewing machines.  The electrical storm took out her sewing machine also.  Zapped it.  Un-repairable!  She looked at a Janome which is on sale until the end of the week.  They are leaving for Branson so her husband said 'Let's wait until we get back!'  It won't be on sale then and he will say she can't have one that expensive.  Grrrr!  She would be saving $400 if she went today!  My sewing machine is a Brother and I got it from Fingerhut probably 45 years ago!!  Still works great!!

When I got home, I went to Ivalou's and asked her if she wanted to go to Woody's for supper.  We went and I had the best Meatloaf sandwich I have ever eaten out!  Yummm!

The rest of the evening was crocheting on the baby afghan and watching TV.

I am ashamed of how late I slept this morning.  Two things are allowing me to sleep so late...taking Zyrtec and the Botox is working better this time!

Ivalou got a call from rehab this morning saying there is a cancellation for the pool rehab at 9am tomorrow and Ivalou asked if I could go also.  I think she is afraid to drive after being in the pool.  It does make you feel great but causes you to be sluggish for awhile.  So we are getting in the pool tomorrow!

I have a pot of my favorite meal on the stove....smoked sausage, onions, carrots, potatoes and green beans.  Add bread and butter and yum!!  I need to name that pot of stuff!  Perhaps Etta Stew!

There is a chill in the air, frost on the car windshield this morning and the maple leaves turning red.  The aspen are fading from the brilliant green, as are the birch.  There is rust settling in to the oak leaves...... Autumn is here.  I sit in my kitchen at the computer and watch the changes occur.  The cats are more content to be inside rather than out, Sun rise is coming later, sun set earlier.

Kassie had to work today, I am thankful she has a job, and I am looking forward to the end of her school year.  This is the last year I have a child in school.  I no longer need to wake he up in the morning, her maturity does that.  I call and she is already up and getting ready.  It is so wonderful having a "baby" in the house but it is also wonderful to see them grow up, mature and get ready to launch out on their own.  As mothers we always worry, especially as we with the mistakes they make in their lives, but they are their mistakes and they have to live with them.  Only God can turn the ashes to gold, I am praying that for Kassie.

Have a great day folks

Sarahm

Hello All,
I hope you have had a good past couple of weeks mine have been BUSY BUSY. I am learning a new job as a lab tech and taking care of ruth and what not its been crazy :). Anyways just dropping by to say hello since I had a few minutes free Ya'll Have a good evening
Sarah

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  Will leave a quick note since I read the postings since I posted this morning. A little while ago I completed reinstalling the Windows 7 software on Pat's desktop.  It had started doing really weird things.  A few weeks ago I read how you can put the Windows software back in original condition without bothering your installed programs and settings.  It worked great.  I anyone would like to have the instructions, which I got out of a Windows Secrets Newletter, just let me know and I can email to you.  I has saved hours and hours of work to reload everything on a computer.  I was very pleased.

Etta Sue, I hadn't thought about Fingerhut for many years.  I did a search to see if they are still in business and found that they are.  I can't remember what we may have purchased from them.

Judy, it is always pleasant to watch the changing colors of fall and to enjoy some crisper days.  Of course, that means that winter isn't far away.  I just realized that fall will officially be here in a few days.

Sarah, it sounds like you are keeping very busy.  Hope you like your new job.

Ruth Ann Bice

Sarah, I often think of you and ask our Lord to help you with your really busy life. Your new job sounds great, and should be the beginning of your career ladder - keep up the good work, gal.

Larry, I'll be one of the first to ask for a copy of that newsletter. I read everything I can that will help me to do a better job of administering "first aid" to my computer. That's so much better than needing to pay lots of money for expert help.

Etta Sue, "Etta Stew" sounds delicious! I may need to cook up something like that soon. ;)

Today was a really busy, harrying, hectic, stressful morning, so when I finally got home, I had to take a couple of tylenol and lie down. Now, I feel a bit better.

Most likely it would be a good thing to have a bit of supper, methinks, since it soon will be 10 pm!  ::)

Y'all have a wonderful rest of your day with our Lord.

Love to all,
Ruth Ann

Janice

Larry, I would like to have those instructions as well.  Thank you.  I would have to get Sara (gr dtr) to do this for me, I would ruin things for sure if I tried.
I had to check my profile to see what email address was showing there....and I had to update it, as I suspected!

Hubby has a new Home Health nurse and also they have put him on physical therapy again.  His previous nurse had so many patients that she was getting overwhelmed.  The new one is young and perky, but she does seem to know her business.
I know now why people always say they have to take it one day at a time, that is just the way it is.
Thanks to all for the prayers, it helps a lot for me to count on the prayers. I am truly grateful.

Have any of you been hearing of cantaloupe causing listeriosis lately?  A friend of ours is one of the fatalities of 3 in our state.  So sad.  We even bought a cantaloupe that came from the Rocky Ford area of Colorado, which is where the contaminated ones were from.  Uh oh!
All of the other supermarkets in town say they got theirs from California.

Blessings,  Janice
This is the day the Lord has made, we will rejoice and be glad in it.   Ps 118:24

Ruth Ann Bice

Yes, Janice - some of those cantaloupes made their way to Tennessee, too. The loss of your friend is so sad.

This makes me think ... so many people find it difficult to trust our Lord, yet we all depend on so many forces for our daily lives that their lack of trust in God is puzzling to me.

Well, must go - have a meeting with a plumber in about an hour.

Hi everyone.  We are much cooler here this morning and it is overcast.  We had some wind about 5:30 and I thought it was raining but apparently no rain.  My big activity today is to see my doctor for my annual physical.  I already did the blood work but he wants me to repeat some of the testings before seeing him this morning.  So I have to hope the lab isn't too busy when I get there.  I also need to get my flu shot but don't think I can do that on a Friday at Kaiser.  I also need to stop at Sam's and return an item I got for our daughter.  Pat is actually going to get out this morning and then have lunch out so know she is feeling a lot better.

Ruth Ann and Janice, I will send you a copy of the instructions as just sent them to someone else and can just forward that on to you.

Janice, so sorry to hear of your friend being one of the victims of the cantaloupe situation.  Hope the new home health care nurse works out well for your husband.

Jeanne Lee

Larry, are those instructions just for Windows 7, or are they for any computer?  If they're for any system, I'd love to have a copy, too.

Fall doesn't actually begin until next week, but for sure summer is over.  Not only have the temperatures suddenly dropped about 20 degrees, but there's a brisk breeze as well.

I was wondering that too Jeanne  If they are for any computer then I would like them as well!

John will be home soon, till Sunday afternoon.

Marilyn

I am also wondering right along with Jeanne and Judy, if they are for any windows system I would also like a copy.

Yes, Larry--me, too!  If it works for Vista.  When I had Windows reinstalled last year, they didn't use Toshiba so many of my Toshiba functions do not work.  If I could use my recovery disk and not have to reinstall everything, that would be great!!

Ivalou and I went to the pool this a.m., then to Marsh's for some groceries.  Kaye Don and Barb are having a fish fry Sunday afternoon and we needed some ingredients for our covered dish/pitch-in.  Then Ivalou said she was hungry.  It was 10:50 so we stopped for lunch and had breakfast food!

I am doing some laundry now.

It was 45 degrees this morning.  I don't think there was frost but close to it.  My maple tree behind the house is a soft Maple and the leaves are falling...green leaves.  They haven't turned color.  The ground is almost covered with green leaves.  My other Maple trees aren't doing that....yet.

Not ready for winter...NO!  Not yet!  If I just didn't have to wear a winter coat or bundle up, I wouldn't mind it!!   ::)

This article on the Window's 7 no reformat, nondestructive reinstall indicates Windows has had this ability since XP but for some reason Microsoft has never made nondestructive reinstalls an official repair.  So it would appear it should work for XP, Vista and Window's 7.  Jeanne, if I recall correctly you have a MAC for it wouldn't work for you.  However, just in case I am not remembering correctly I an send you the email and if you can't use it just trash it.  I have a rather long list of requests so will do BCC's on the e-mail.

Larry, my Mac has been out of the loop for quite a while.  I needed a PC for exchanging files at work and the Mac didn't get upgraded for several years - it still works and I can access the internet, but it needs more hard drive and lots more RAM.  So I'm mainly using Windows XP on a laptop right now.  I did receive the instructions, so thank you.

Just back to share something I got this afternoon that I really liked:

To brighten your day

Someone has written these beautiful words. Must read and try to understand the deep meaning of it.

Prayer is not a "spare wheel" that you pull out when in  trouble,
but it is a "steering wheel"  that directs the right path throughout.

A car's WINDSHIELD is so large and the rear view mirror is so small? Because our PAST is not as important as our FUTURE.
So, look ahead and move on.

Friendship is like a BOOK. It takes few seconds to burn, but it takes years to write.

All things in life are temporary.  If going well, enjoy it; they will not last
forever. If going wrong, don't worry; they can't last long either.

Old friends are gold! New friends are diamond! If you get a diamond, don't forget the gold because to hold a diamond, you always need a base of gold!

Often when we lose hope and think this is the end, GOD smiles from above and says, "Relax, sweetheart, it's just a bend, not the end!

When GOD solves your problems, you have faith in HIS abilities; when GOD doesn't solve your problems HE has faith in your abilities.

A blind person asked St. Anthony: "Can there be anything worse than losing eye sight?"
He replied: "Yes, losing your vision!"

When you pray for others, God listens to you and blesses them, and sometimes, when you are safe and happy, remember that someone has prayed for you.

WORRYING does not take away tomorrow's TROUBLES, it takes away today's PEACE.

Ruth Ann Bice

Those are good sayings, Larry. :)

Etta Sue, I ended up getting the "lunch" for my breakfast! I forgot to eat before meeting with the plumber at my old house. So, stopped at a Subway, thinking they make breakfast food. Not this one! So, for breakfast, I had a turkey sub with very little mayo, very little lettuce, and sliced tomato on the thin bread.

So, between us, we "evened things out" as some folks around here say. ;)

Y'all have a good rest of the day with our Lord.

Janet

HELLO!!  I am back home again.  We had a nice time in Branson, saw several good music shows, plus NOAH, the Musical, which is great, in the big Sight and Sound Theater.  Yesterday, we spent the entire day at Silver Dollar City, wandering into one show after another and watching some of the artisans at work.  It was cool and cloudy all day, and then in the evening, just as the final show was starting, it began to rain.  They stopped, to cover the musicians and instruments on the stage with a big tarp, and after we waited some five minutes or so, came back out and announced that the Weather Service said more rain was coming, so the show was canceled and we all left.

Up early  and after a long drive, here we are, back in Ulysses!  Our guys didn't get nearly as much accomplished as they thought they would, so our bathroom is now not usable at all.  Thankful that we have another one not far away!  ;)

I have read all your posts, seems everybody kept busy and didn't notice my absence.  That's good!  Love you all.

Hi everyone.  We had a much cooler, in the 60's day, yesterday and it stayed overcast all day.  I think today is not suppose to get above 73.  It has been a long time since we had such nice temperatures.  Not much on the schedule for today.  After coffee I think I will make a quick trip to Sam's Club to return an item and perhaps stop at Walmart for something.  Then, if I am not too tired, I will attend a meeting this morning.  The afternoon and evening will be watching some football and resting.  My physical went very well yesterday.  I will recheck my blood in a couple of months as the creatine level is not within the range.  Of course, I have known for a long time that I had kidney disease, which apparently isn't unusual with heart disease.

Just back from coffee and we have been using the hair dryer to get the compacted ice out of the ice bin.  I appears the defrosting function of our refrigerator has failed and has allowed the ice to turn into a solid block.  We will have to have the repair people out and even though the unit makes ice we will probably just buy ice until it is fixed as it is a job getting all of the ice out of the bin.  I think we just burned out Pat's hand-held hair dryer but the ice is about melted.  Certainly something isn't right.

Ruth Ann, my wife reminds me once-in-a-while that it is alright to each non-traditional breakfast foods at breakfast time.  I think we are all creatures of habit.

Janet, nice to see you are back and had a good time in Branson.  What musical shows did you see.  Too back about the slowness of accomplishment in your bathroom.  Hopefully that will advance a bit more quickly now that you all are back.

Etta Sue

Janet ~ Glad you are home safe and sound.  Kitty and Bob are going to Branson Sunday for a few days.  I have been wondering...did you get your eye glasses from the online site?  How are they?  Do they fit well?  Any problems?  Share your experience with us since I, for one, was wanting to try out that site in the future.

Larry ~ I didn't get the instructions for re-installing Windows.  The email address in my profile is correct.

Ruth Ann ~ I can eat breakfast food anytime but not the other way around.  When working we had one gal that would bring cold pizza to eat before starting work!  Sometimes she brought chili but she did warm it up!  I couldn't eat lunch and dinner food for breakfast.  Almost like drinking Pepsi or Coke for breakfast...has to be coffee or juice for me for breakfast!  To each their own, I guess.  I guess I have never been hungry enough to eat foods any time.

I am loving this cooler weather.  Now if it could stay this temp for 6 months and then warm up!!

Janet

Larry, we saw Doug Gabriel, a family show, the Bretts, another family show, Cassandre, who is a gal from Nebraska with the strongest, highest voice I have ever heard!  We went to Noah, the Musical, saw several shows out at Silver Dollar City which were good, and I'm sure I am forgetting some.  Lots and lots of great musical talent in that town!!

Yes, Etta Sue, I got my glasses from the online site.  They fit great, no problems at all except I need the frames adjusted a little bit.  I was pleased that I could just put them on and wear them.  I like cold pizza for breakfast, can eat most anything anytime!  ;)  But I do not drink soft drinks for breakfast....nor any other time, hardly.  I do get thirsty for one occasionally, so drink one.  I know they are one of the worst things for weight gain and other health problems, so am glad I have sort of lost my taste for them.

Did you all know I have become a pilot?  Yes, that's right!  Stuff is so messed up and disorganized that I just pile it here, then pile it there......pilot!     Sure is hard to find things, whew!

The new look of the site is wonderful :). We don't seem to slow down ever. Working in the hospital as a lab tech now it's a blast :) (of course I'm the one on the "right" side of the needle lol) Ruth is getting big and more ornery every day. this weekend has been crazy busy and we are going to Amarillo tomorrow for my birthday celebration. Our family tradition is that the one whose birthday gets to pick what to eat well since my birthday fell int he middle of the week I wasn't able to go to my most favorite restaurant The Olive Garden. So we will go tomorrow and get a few things from different stores while we are there. They have a "Once Upon A Child" store so we will be looking to see what they have for Ruth. Anyways y'all have a good evening  I am off to work on a paper for school and eat supper and go to bed TTYL

Carol

Nice website - thanks for all of your work!

Jeanne:  I love seeing your avatar - can you tell me why I see it under Larry and Marilyn's posts?   Is anyone else having this photo appearing under their posts?

It has snowed on the mountain tops - not very much but this state goes nuts over who will begin skiing first.  The cabin had 34 degrees F. one morning & now into that cool of nights.  Aspen trees have not turned gold yet - bummer.  Elk are hiding in the trees - big bummer.  One huge moose and five Ospreys.  Not a great viewing.  We had friends arrive to a couple of days so with my grand sitting, & getting things ready here & up the hill, I have not had a free hour for a week.  Our dear friends are from church & neighbors as well so, we can talk of faith & family.  Great discussions on what we are reading and so many things.  Don and friend fished and they caught nothing but an Osprey caught a  fish and flew right over the guys.  Show-off!

Looking forward to Sunday morning.  Peace to all.

Happy Birthday to Sarahm :hb2:

Janet

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, SARAH!! How old is little Ruth now?  The Olive Garden is one of Beth's favorites, too, and she asked me to get her a bottle of their salad dressing if we went to one.  We did, so I did.  ;)

I just stopped by to say good night.  So.....Good Night!!

Janet ~ Thanks for the info about your glasses.  Sounds like a plus.

When I got up at 7:30 I could see the sun shining to the east.  Now it is gone.  Clouds everywhere now.  And cool.  Only 54 degrees.  Just hope it doesn't rain.

I got some more crocheting done on the baby afghan.  Using skein 3 now.  When I get it on the afghan, then it will be the border skein.  Love this pattern.  Hope she likes it for her baby boy.

I so wanted to stay in bed this morning.  I woke up thinking it must be time to get up but didn't look at the clock.  I think just as I got back to sleep, the alarm went off!  Scared me!

Happy birthday, Sarah.  I got you on FB but not on here!

Jeanne Lee

Carol, I have no idea why you've been seeing my avatar with Larry and Marilyn's posts.  They both have their own avatars which I see in the proper places.

Hi everyone.  Another week has passed quickly and it is once again Sunday.  I don't have to get up as early on Sunday as other days as don't go to coffee on Sunday.  Just plan on attending church this morning.  The choir is singing a really nice anthem and looking forward to it. If Pat feels up to it we will go out for lunch after church.  Yesterday morning we did get the ice out of the ice bin and determined that the defrosting mechanism isn't working on the refrigerator.  I will have to call for repair tomorrow.  Fortunately the refrigerator/freezer are still working.  We have turned off the ice maker as don't want to fight that battle again of getting the ice that had melted together out.  I did return an item to Sam's and then stopped at Walmart to get Pat a different phone that has a cover on it.  However, will take it back as she didn't like it either as it doesn't have a camera as her current one does.  I burned some CDs yesterday afternoon and that was about it.  I did get a firmware update installed on my e-book reader and it seems to be working much better now.  I enjoyed reading with it yesterday evening.

Etta Sue, I resent the instructions just now.

Janet, we didn't see any of the shows you did.  I know the performers change there a lot and this time of year there are more places open with shows.  You are right about the musical talent.  Janet, that was a knee-slapper about being a pilot.  Glad the glasses worked out.  I have been thinking about ordering a pair as mine have been worn so long the lenses have a few scratches.  However, I still like the ones I have.

Ruth Ann, nice of you to help build your little library.

Sarah, a belated Happy Birthday.  Hope you have a great day in Amarillo.  They are building a new Olive Garden just about 4 miles from us and it should be open soon.

Carol, sounds like you are having a great time at the cabin.  It is always nice to spend time with friends.

Carol

Church alone today - Don is just exhausted and plans to spend the day here.  A trip to WalMart - have you seen the price of spices rising?

Jeanne:  I don't understand why your picture shows just under Larry and Marilyn.  I just don't know how it can be fixed if it is on my site or something else.

A pot of chicken soup is in the crockpot.

Larry:  I have to get up and move much earlier on Sunday.  We had a new song to learn - not impressed but the words are nice.  We have to keep the young people involved so be it.  Glad that you are getting your e-reader up to par.  I have much to learn on the iPad and want to take a class.  Everything is online but they might have some shortcuts too.  Isn't it wonderful?  My dad would have just loved the things we take for granted now.

Janet:  I am so glad you got to Branson.  We never did and Don really wanted to go but the chance never came and now he cannot understand the music so anything would be a terrible screeching sound to him.  Love the gift of hearing because it can be temporary - that is what I say.  I hope your house is all finished.

Etta Sue:  My yarn is sitting here waiting for me to make another sweater coat but first, I need to sew a baby quilt.  she was born this spring so I am quite late.  The colors are purples, a little pink and white.

Janet

Carol, it is so sad about Don's hearing.  Yes, it is a wonderful thing to have hearing, and one misses so much when it goes.  I am thankful for hearing aids, both for me and Darrel!  No, the house isn't finished!  Far from it!  I'm thinking it's going to be months........... :P  Hard to get used to living with everything out of order, so thankful to have at least the living room in order, but still with no shades/curtains.  I had a new king sized sheet with purples in it, got that out to use on the window, as the glare from an uncovered window hurts my eyes, especially if I am watching TV.  But this, too, shall pass!  And I'm thankful to have gotten those things repaired that had needed it for so long and bugged me so much!  For sure, I will have plenty to occupy my time for a long time to come, just getting things sorted and back in their proper places so we can find them!  By then we should know what we can do without, and get rid of more stuff!  So there is a silver lining!

Our young pastor gets better and better.  The new youth pastor/worship leader is doing a great job with the kids, attendance at the Youth Group has grown tremendously.  But I do hope he stops bringing so many new songs every Sunday.  Today there was only one with which I was faintly familiar, all others new.  And I am trying not to be an "old fogey" about it.

Lon is to come this afternoon for a short time to put another coat of mud on in the bathroom so it can be dry by tomorrow.

And I am going to read, and maybe take a nap!  Not much I can figure out to do to move the process along on the house, or I would!

Hi, friends, not too much to say today - just that I'm here and love each of you.

Have a great day with our Lord, and Sarah, do please enjoy your birthday today and then walk with God as you go through this new year. He will be your Friend and Guide. :)
