Praying for your son, Larry...

I was wondering the other day when Jerry had his first stroke, Etta Sue.  And that trip to Calgary was superb.  Please keep praying for Judy as she's still in the hospital.

I sure pray that Janet will be able to figure out something about the flight and hopefully Mayo will get her in there.

Speaking of how people have come and gone over the past 5 1/2 years...

We have lots of new folks coming here quite regularly and we really need to welcome them and let them know that we're happy that they've come to CP

So, please can you all regularly go to this link HERE and post a welcome to them?

Thanks so much!

Jeannine

Good afternoon from a sunny ny state, its been busy this past week, not the busy I want and miss but still busy. Almost all Michaels things have gone to good "homes" so that is a blessing.

Wanted to let you all know something. Michael touched alot of lives in his short one without ever having to say a word. His smile said it all for him, he gave unconditional love. But anyways, Susan was his weekday day nurse, now on another case. She was given the opportunity to check her email while at the school along with some of the other aids. She pulled up the picture of Michael I had emailed her and she got misty about him, she loved him and said he changed her life, and one of the aids said she looked a little sad and said she must not be happy she had to leave that case. Well, she told her that he was a very special little boy and how he touched her life and said he just passed away last week. The aid looked at the picture of Michael and touched the screen and said thank you Michael for letting them have Susan. I had told her that with Michael's passing he would still be touching lives. God sure does work in mysterious ways.

Well, will go for now. I am reading and praying for all here. May you all have a God filled and blessed day!

Psa 18:2  Jehovah is my strength, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my rock; I will trust in Him; He is my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower.

Jeannine, you have such a loving, giving heart.  God bless you.

I've been thinking about this weight loss business.  I can honestly say I don't have any flab, except the roll of fat on my stomach.  I think these MBT shoes are working really well in helping firm up my legs and backside.  Plus I am very active most of the time.  AND plus the fact that I haven't yet lost enough to see flab!  I will let you know after this evening's weigh-in, how many pounds are gone.

I have to go attend a meeting for the Dietary staff of Park View in a few minutes.  I'm not working any more until at least November.

Pat, on this trip, we will be away for two weeks.  Then I'm home for three days, then away for the remainder of the month of October.

Lovely weather again here today!

I'm off to that meeting now.  Probably a waste of time for me, but it is required.  :-\

Michael, has no one ever hugged you?

I love getting hugged--especially by my grandchildren!

By the way, Michael, it's nice to have you here in the "Thoughts for the Week".

Enjoy!

It's been a very long time since we've had a hymn in here!  So let's all sing together...

Just over in the glory land
(Click to hear music)

I've a home prepared where the saints abide
Just over in the glory land
And I long to be by my Saviour's side
Just over in the glory land

Just over in the glory land
I'll join the happy angel band
Just over in the glory land
Just over in the glory land
There with the mighty host I'll stand
Just over in the glory land

I am on my way to those mansions fair
Just over in the glory land
There to sing God's praises and his glory share
Just over in the glory land

Refrain

What a joyful thought that my Lord I'll see
Just over in the glory land
And with kindred saved, there forever be
Just over in the glory land

Refrain

With the blood washed throng I will shout and sing
Just over in the glory land
Glad hosannas to Christ, the Lord and King
Just over in the glory land

Refrain

Love that song, Pat.     It's one we sing at the nursing home, from time to time ... they like the lively ones, it seems.
Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass .... it's about learning to dance in the rain!

Glad you like that, Jane.  One of my favourites as well.

Just felt like singing today.  Singing always lifts my spirits.

Just got back in from taking the dogs for their walks. I made cookies this afternoon. I was almost out of four but had some old fashioned oats, so yesterday I ground the oats into flour in my Magic Bullet machine and used that flour to make Soft and Chewy Peanut Butter Oatmeal cookies today. All the pots and pans are in the rack drying and those will son be put away before I fix my supper, probably left over Black Eyed peas and Mac salad that Willa gave me this morning.

Michael good to see you made it in here. No Hugs??????? you don't know what you are missing I love those big hugs my son Gilbert gives me. That boy really knows how to hug. Keith gives great hugs too.

Keith is coming down this weekend and contemplating bringing Mr.Fritzy. He tells me that Fritzy is sure an active youngster getting into everything and  constantly wanting  more to eat. He tries to get in Keith's lap and into his plate when Keith is eating. (Bad Kitty)He sure is having fun with  his new buddy. I wonder if Fritzy will remember me????

I was doing some reading this afternoon and I came across a wee poem that was typed out by my mother:

"Thy way not mine O Lord,
However dark it be;
O lead me by thine own right hand
Choose out the path for me.

I dare not choose my lot
I would not if I might,
But choose Thou for me, O my God
So shall I walk aright.

Take Thou my cup and it
With joy or sorrow fill;
As ever best to Thee may seem
Choose Thou my good or ill.

Not mine, not mine the choice
In things of great or small;
Be Thou my guide, my guard, my strength
My Wisdom and my all."

hello all... i am here been busy busy busy... unfortunately the great minimum wage increase has been followed by an hour cut for all including the few of us that didn't get any raise  :ticked: i am ready for something to change but not sure how to make that happen its bee a long week here between fighting with the boss for more hours and school work... today i've decided they have 30 days to give me more hours or more money or i'm gone... i can't get by with trying to get to school and work (gas prices) and try to pay pickup payment and insurance with fewer hours and no  raise... so i dunno enough of that rant i guess hope all is well with all of you i must be off to do homework

Hi, friends, I've been here with y'all for over an hour, catching up with posts, praying with and for those who have requested it, rejoiced with those who are glad, and grieved with Jeannine and Frank.

The ladies retreat I attended was truly wonderful. My b/p medication is keeping me really "low key" and very sleepy. Gordon, thanks for the encouragement, and I look forward to getting adjusted to this. Today, every time I sat down I fell fast asleep. So, am hoping the adjustment period is short rather than long!  ;)

God's blessings to each of you.
...his compassions fail not.  They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.

Cool weather on the island now...tho' it was lovely and the sun was smiling.  The nights are quite crisp here in the valley.

We are still waiting on the hospital to give my daughter an appt. for her x-ray.  Seems the dr.'s office didn't realize she had to have a form from the dr. and couldn't simply phone for the x-ray.  It is different when there is a lump.  Wendy went to the office and told them....had to get the manogram people to contact the dr.  Talk about terrible communication!  So we wait and worry.

I went at 7:30 A.M. with Amanda into Victoria.  She has to leave at that time for her school.  It was my intention to Carpet Bowl there and then come home with her at 2:45.  Find it is much too long a day for this old body.  Hope that I can keep up my weekly pmts. for her gas as she really needs the help.  Will have to stay nice and healthy for the next few months :)

Sarah, I understand where you are coming from.  My granddaughter is having the same struggle.  Hang in there kiddo.

Yes, I have been around since almost the start of this site.  It has been a real blessing and certainly helped when my friend Al died of cancer.  Marilyn told me about the site when we met on Sr. Net.  I invited a lady from the carpet bowling to come check us out.  She is a Christian and we went for lunch together.  Wish it were not so early that we have to leave in the morning or I would have kept going into Victoria to bowl.  They are a nice group.

Playing the music as I type and love it.  Thanks Pat.

Time to go.  Pleasant Evening/Day and God Bless.

Liz
CHANGE NOT THY FAITH WITH CHANGING TIMES

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  I want to do a quick posting this morning as this is one of those busy days for me also.  As soon as I get back from coffee we will head to the church for our Wednesday morning Bible Study with the pastor.  We are starting a study of 1 John.  This afternoon I need to work in my storage shed to get more stuff ready for the trash pickup tomorrow.  Finally, tonight is choir practice.  We are singing the Christmas part of the Messiah this year so have lots of work to do in preparing that along with our weekly anthems.

We spoke with our son last evening.  He was sounding very tired after a long day.  He had to be at the hospital at 10 am with the stent placement scheduled for noon.  However, as usual, it was 2 hours later before they took him for the procedure.  Then after they put in the first stent the artery collapsed (in other words he had another heart attack) but the doctor saw it immediately and put in two more stents.  So in the last two weeks he has had 4 stents inserted.  His wife saw the pictures of the before and after and said it now shows a good flow of blood so hopefully he will soon be feeling chipper.  He is to be released later this morning.  We are thankful that God brought him through these trials.

Liz, some of these days when we are away from home can become very long.  I tend to tire easily and so try, when possible, to limit how much I schedule to do each day and usually it is only one thing.

Ruth Ann, I guess sleeping is better than the alternative of not sleeping.  I hope the meds soon don't have such a drastic effect on you.

Sarah, sorry you are having such a struggle trying to find the hours you need to be working.  What you are experiencing seems to be the common result of the increase in the minimum wage in a lot of industries.

Pat, I liked the poem you found that was typed out by your mother.  Thanks for sharing that and the hymn with us today.

Marilyn, what is a Magic Bullet machine?  You really spoil those dogs with the homemade food.

Michael, you are missing a lot if no one puts there arms around you and gives you a hug.  I know that sometimes for men this is a bit of a problem but try it by hugging someone else, with their permission of course.

Janet, good luck on your weigh in tonight.

Jeannine, thanks for sharing that story regarding Michael former nurse.

Melody, Pat and all of you that have been praying for my son, thanks so much.

Etta Sue, here in the metropolitan area where I live I wouldn't even consider leaving my windows open at night.  In my house all of my windows are low to the ground.   Good news from your throat doctor yesterday.  I think sometimes doctors forget what they have told us before in terms of the next appointments.

WHEN SORROW CAME

When sorrow came in dreadful woe
And set to bring my spirits low
Dressed in black it made a start
To come inside and break my heart

It mocked at my increasing fears
Filled my eyes with bitter tears
No hope today for my tomorrow
Despair was given by bitter sorrow

It spread around its blackened veil
Over joy once there and made me feel
The biting wind of its dreadful wrath
When sorrow came and crossed my path

For me to suffer was what it meant
As it crept past happiness with evil intent
How simple was its dark ploy
To give me sadness and take away joy

But I knew One acquainted with grief
Who had the way to bring relief
He gave me grace on which to borrow
As I looked to Him this Man of Sorrow

Sorrow did come but I got peace
It bit hard but grace did increase
For all I did was call on His Name
And looked to Him when sorrow came

Colin Moffett

Still in grief for dear Michael. Sorry to be so sad. Please keep Jeannine in your prayers.

God bless all here.

Good Morning everyone.

There is a verse that has been repeating itself in my mind.  "Before they 'ask' I will answer.  This week I had a need and before I expressed that need in any logical way God used someone to fill the need.  I am still overwhelmed at the way God works and answers.  It is a reminder that He does indeed meet our needs if we give Him time to work.  Far too often we want/need an item and rush out to buy it before God has the opportunity to move in someones heart.  Thank you Father for blessing me in this way.

Today will be a busy day at work.  Wednesday usually is.  On top of that we are having a seminar and workshop tomorrow and Friday.  The sewers out there will know what the 'Sulky' products are....well this will be a Sulky seminar and workshop.

I must go, I am praying for each need and Jeannine know you and Frank are being prayed for.

Good morning to each one of you.

Good morning!   ;)

Colin, that's another very appropriate poem for these days.  I've had a few tugs at my heart lately ... this month is the anniversary of when my friend, and pastor, Bev died and tomorrow is my daughter Jean's birthday ... she would have been 55 had she lived.  Just thoughts that run around in my head from time to time ... :-\

Larry, it might have been a "good" thing that your son had to wait those extra hours ... if he was going to have another heart attack it couldn't have happened at a better time than when the doctor was right there!  I pray this latest procedure has fixed the problem for good and that he will improve rapidly to good health once again.

I also pray for Stacy and all her medical needs ... and for you and Pat to have the strength to keep on keeping on as you go through each day.

I received a brief note from my sister yesterday evening saying she has Bell's Palsy.  The doctor told her it would be "a couple months" before she'd be alright.  I remember when our mother had Bell's Palsy when Kathi was a baby. The effects remained with her the rest of her life.  Hopefully, Kathi (my sis) will fare better.

I think I will be out in the yard for a while today.  Rain is predicted, and I need to get more work done before it arrives.
Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass .... it's about learning to dance in the rain!

Pat

That's a lovely poem, Colin.  Thanks so much for sharing.  Yes, we're praying for Jeannine and Frank at this time.

Hi Marilyn.

Liz, how are you my friend?

We've been cleaning up all kinds of twigs and brush outside Paul's house here today.  I'm now tired and want to get rested a bit so that I can enjoy Prayer Meeting tonight.
