Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Etta Sue, here's hoping and praying that the coming year will be a really good one for you.

I'll be going out to take care of a few little odds and ends - all of which (of course!!) cost a bit of money. Oh, well, these things are needed, and I trust our Lord to provide.

My very close friend near Etta Sue (Mary) had cataract surgery today and as I was sitting here at my computer, praying for her, she called saying all went well. Thank you, Lord, for answered prayer.

Y'all have a wonderful rest of the day.

Well what do you know!  I have baby birds!  I have 2 finches and she laid eggs, now we have babies!  You should hear the adults carrying on!  First singing at me that there was something different.  I cleaned the cage and discovered in the nest the babies.  Too small for pictures!..

One day very soon we will have kittens.  Mama looks like she is ready to explode!  Those I can take pics of!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ETTA SUE!!!

Thanks for the explanation, sounds reasonable to me!  :)

It isn't as cool here today as it has been earlier, but still nice.

Darrel and I DID manage to move the heavy furniture and I have painted the rest of the baseboards one coat of primer and one of paint.  If it gets dry enough, I will get the last coat on, then we can move the furniture back.     Nice to have that out of the way before we leave for Branson!

I had to go to the care home for Beth's Care Plan at 1:30, and had hardly gotten home and gotten into the painting when they called to ask if I could go get her something from Sonic.  I said NO.  I felt mean, but she should have asked me while I was there!  I hurt all night last night, so little sleep and I'm still tired today, and a bit grumpy too, I guess.  >:(

And now I am going to my recliner, where I expect sleep will overtake me shortly!

Hi everyone.  Will make a second post today since it has been an interesting day.  First of all, Happy Birthday, Etta Sue.  Good reasons to not attend the Beef and Boards next year.  I feel the same way and don't like to be out after dark.

After coffee Pat and I did make it to the dentist.  She had her teeth cleaned and no new cavities.  My broken tooth was x-rayed and the dentist told me I could decide to have a crown or we could try filling it again, which I choose.  He didn't even have to numb my mouth and I had no pain during the filling other than discomfort on my cheek and lips by the pressing of the instruments he was using.  It wasn't bad and immediately was gone when he was finished.  We then went to Wal-Mart and picked up the drafting chair.  I came home and shortly was picked up by my friend and we attended the ROMEO's luncheon.  After resting when I got home I put the chair together but as soon as Pat tried it she knew she didn't feel comfortable using it so took it apart and will take it back tomorrow morning.  Not sure what we are going to be able to do.  I couldn't get all the pieces back in the box but got most of it and there are two larger pieces that someone else is going to have to deal with when returned.  I didn't have the strength to remove the casters.  I just listened to the President's speech and now will watch the football game.  It has been a busy day.

I have to share a funny with you all that I got this morning.  It really gave me a chuckle.  It is a little long but I felt worth the read.

On the first day, she sadly packed her belongings into boxes, crates and suitcases.
On the second day, she had the movers come and collect her things.
On the third day, she sat down for the last time at their beautiful dining-room table, by candle-light; she put on some soft background music, and feasted on a pound of shrimp, a jar of caviar, and a bottle of spring-water. When she'd finished, she went into each and every room and deposited a few half-eaten shrimps dipped in caviar into the hollow center of the curtain rods.
She then cleaned up the kitchen and left.
On the fourth day, the husband came back with his new girlfriend, and at first all was bliss.

Then, slowly, the house began to smell.

They tried everything; cleaning, mopping, and airing-out the place. Vents were checked for dead rodents, and carpets were steam cleaned. Air fresheners were hung everywhere. Exterminators were brought in to set off gas canisters, during which time the two had to move out for a few days, and in the end they even paid to replace the expensive wool carpeting. Nothing worked!

People stopped coming over to visit.

Repairmen refused to work in the house.

The maid quit. Finally, they couldn't take the stench any longer, and decided they had to move, but a month later - even though they'd cut their price in half - they couldn't find a buyer for such a stinky house. Word got out, and eventually even the local realtors refused to return their calls. Finally, unable to wait any longer for a purchaser, they had to borrow a huge sum of money from the bank to purchase a new place.
Then the ex-wife called the man and asked how things were going. He told her the saga of the rotting house. She listened politely and said that she missed her old home terribly and would be willing to reduce her divorce settlement in exchange for having the house. Knowing she could have no idea how bad the smell really was, he agreed on a price that was only 1/10 th of what the house had been worth ... but only if she would sign the papers that very day.
She agreed, and within two hours his lawyers delivered the completed paperwork. A week later the man and his girlfriend stood smiling as they
watched the moving company pack everything to take to their new home ....
and to spite the ex-wife, they even took the curtain rods!

I LOVE A HAPPY ENDING, DON'T YOU?

JudyB

It was exciting... I did get some pictures, but the camera is in the car and the pics will need some editing... Tomorrow!

Hi everyone.  It is morning and am awaiting 7:55 when I will ride with my neighbor to coffee at the senior center.  This will be the first week since January that I have gone with him.  For the last several weeks, since he recovered enough from his fall and hip replacement, I have insisted on driving.  It is a straight shot and short distance to go so finally agreed to go with him.  Other than a quick trip to Walmart I expect to be home the rest of the day.

RuthV

Good morning!!

Today, beside working on bookkeeping, I will be spending a major part of the day peeling, coring, slicing and freezing apples. My tree, again, has produced a bumper crop.

It's sunny, cool 17 C or 63 F. Great walking weather..... if I was not concerned about the sighting of bears in the area!!

JudyB

Yes Ruth we have one here as well.  We saw the scat on the driveway last week  Our across the road neighbour has seen it ( a big male) manytimes but not close enough to get.

Etta Sue

What a great day yesterday!  So many emails from Facebook where my friends wished me a Happy Birthday.  Even my classmates sang 'Happy Birthday' to me and a cake with Cool Whip.

As I was getting close to home, I called Marge.  Her birthday was yesterday, too.  I had a gift for her but she wasn't home.  When I got home, I noticed a car at Ivalou's and remembered that Marge's car is in the shop...she rear-ended someone last Friday.  So I pulled in Ivalou's drive.  Sure enough Marge was there.  So we exchanged gifts...and I got one from Ivalou.

I have already made two batches of Candy Crackers for the Christian Women Fellowship Bake Sale tomorrow.  I will take them and some Pumpkin Bread to church this afternoon.  Then Tony and Charlene are coming this evening to take me out to eat for my birthday!

Tomorrow morning Kaye Don, Barb, Ivalou and I are going out for breakfast for my birthday.  I am hoping for IHOP!  Haven't been to IHOP for months!

That's it from Indiana.  Overcast day and cool...62°.

Larry, I loved the story! :)

Today seems to be a quiet day, so I'll be making some changes in my bedroom before going to grab a bit of lunch with a friend.

Then, maybe it would be a good day to work on that spreadsheet with my friend. We aren't too far from finishing.

Y'all have a great day.

Love, Ruth Ann

Happy Belated Birthday, Etta Sue.  I am glad that you had a nice day of celebration.

Larry, funny story!  Thanks for posting it.

Al, I want to thank you for the prayer for me.  I was humbled to read it, and shed a couple of tears.
My husband is home now, but not doing very well.  He fell this morning, and I had to call for help.  Gr-dtr came and got him up.  Nothing hurt but he scraped a bad place on his back and caused bleeding.

He has so many serious ailments that it is amazing how well he is living with all of them. "God is able" that is for sure. He has Diabetes, which has caused him to have Chronic Kidney Disease, stage 3.  Also he has congestive heart failure, atrial fibrillation, pulmonary hypertension, and a host of lesser things.  Also, he has Alzheimer's, and it seems to be getting worse now that he has had so many ailments affecting his health this year.  It had been progressing rather slowly until the other problems intensified this year, plus our son died and that is still troubling for us.

I am having to deal with bad feelings towards the nursing home where he was for 3 weeks.  They were not giving him Lasix, and I did not know it.  And his weight went up more than 30 lbs while he was there, and they never told me that either.  They let him gain all that weight and never did a thing about it.  I was shocked to see what shape he was in when we got him home from there that evening.  I took him to his cardiologist the next morning and he was shocked too.  Hubby was in hospital a few days later with CHF again.

I just have no concentration these days, when there are too many things on my mind, I just can't concentrate.  So I would appreciate continued prayers.  I guess it is just a pity party, but one day this week I thought "I never get a day off".  Even when he is in hospital, I go every day and sit with him.

Hello to everyone else I have not mentioned here.  I enjoy your posts when I get time to read them.
Blessings,
~Janice

Etta Sue, if the breakfast is supposed to be in celebration of your birthday, you should have the choice of where to go!  Insist on IHOP!!!!

Hello Peeps!  We have another delightfully  cool day today, just perfect!!

I am in my pretty new living room, just enjoying an oasis of order in the midst of all the chaos.

No news, really, just popped in to greet you all.  GREETINGS!!   :D

JAnice I am so sorry for your struggles.  I can relate as can Pat and Janet.  If I were there I would cme and give you a break, a well needed break.  Do you have Respite care at a different nursing home where he can go for a weekend and give you a rest?  Perhaps you could get away to a friend or something for a day off?  Think about it.  Know I am praying.

God our Father hears our prayers for you, Janice, and He loves you and will always care for you.  I pray He'll give you joy in the midst of tribulation, trust in times of  trouble, and an awareness of His presence  at all times.

God bless you this day, Etta Sue!  May He bless you as He has blessed us all by your coming into this world!

Janice, my heart breaks for you. We will redouble our prayers for you and for your hubby and your entire family. All these issues are truly capable of making us feel really worn down.

Much love,
Ruth Ann

Hi everyone.  Just had the nice quiet day I had anticipated yesterday.  Pat and I watched an old Perry Mason movie and then after supper watched the DVD of "Queen", which I thought was very good.  The actress who played the Queen managed to look a great deal like the Queen.  It was an interesting story.  Today should be a light one as well.  I will probably watch a lot of football today.

Ruth V, what type of apples do you have on your tree?  Do they make good apple pies?

Etta Sue, it sounds like you had a full day for your birthday and it certainly wasn't overlooked.  Enjoy iHop today.  I have always liked their pancakes.  They always have really large servings.

Ruth Ann, Hope you had a good day yesterday with your changes in your bedroom.  Did you get the spreadsheet done?

Janice, not a pity party at all.  We are your friends and it always helps to express our true feelings, concerns and fears.  Sorry to hear of the continued decline of your husband.

Janet

Janice, I am sorry to hear that Earl has so many health problems.  And I know how worn out one can get from all the care taking.  When my Mom was dying and with Beth's constant problems, some days it felt as if I were doing well to be able to put one foot in front of the other.  But God is our constant source of strength, and He never fails us.  I hope you can find a few minutes often to come in and share with us, keep us up to date, so that we can pray specifically for your needs.  God bless.....((((hugs)))) to you.

I did a lot of cleaning here, straightened the furniture in the bedroom so it's not out so far from the walls, since the painting is finished in there.  Darrel spent the day off and on cleaning out his closet.  You should see the guest bed!  It must be piled four feet deep with our clothes!  :o  And I forgot to leave out clothes for Sunday!  My friend Pat said that gives me a good excuse to go buy new clothes, and I said that I think we already have too many clothes!!  So I will just have to dig!

Lon (our carpenter) called yesterday to tell me our new shower is in at the lumber yard, and that he will be here to talk to us Sunday evening before we leave on Monday morning on our trip to Branson with the seniors.

Curtis (grandson) was here yesterday, said he likes our wood floor.  Later, Diane and Abby were here, they liked it too, Abby told me what colors she thinks I SHOULD HAVE used.  Teenagers!  ^-^  They took Blue home with them to sav e us a trip there on Sunday.  I will not miss that puppy!  She is really a nuisance!  If I had known all this was going to happen, I would never have mentioned those puppies.  But Darrel loves her, and she does get him out of his chair a lot more often, which was my secret goal, so it will all work out.

I am going to Lakin today for a ladies' conference where my friend Patty Bultman is speaking.  She is the one who encouraged me with my book, as Tate Publishing published her book Common Threads.  She has been getting a lot of speaking engagements lately, and I am so happy for her.  I will pick up my sister Jeanie and our friend Carol to ride with me.  Should be a really fun day.

I know I am chattering like a Chatty Kathy, so have a good Saturday!  I am outta here!  :D

John is home today.  I am hoping he will be able to get a new belt on our mower so I can mow the grass one last time.  The trees are changing colour, and the birds (geede) are gathering like the gathering of the clans, and will soon be gone.  Out neighbor to the east still has oats in the field, I really don't think they are going to ripen this year....still green at this point is not good.

It seems we are having one challenge after another these days, the next challenge is to go see Pat but in that the pre-op appointment for surgery on my right shoulder.  I am not looking forward to this surgery, I KNOW what I am in for.  it is much easier to not know.  I have been tempted many times to cancell.  John and Kass won't let me!  So I will look forward to my visit with Pat and staying with her after when I have the surgery, dwell on that and try to downplay the rest.

I hear the furnace running, think it will be warm enough today that I can turn it off.

Bye for now
Judy

Janice, I know well how difficult things are for you these days.  I got to one point where the constant home care interspersed with hospital visits, ongoing for five or six years, wore me down.  I finally sat down and said out loud "I don't want to be the mommy any more!"  Turned out I was not only exhausted but had also let myself get severely dehydrated.  After an IV of 2 quarts of liquid and about a 2 hour nap I was back to myself again.

Janice ~ My heart is sad for you and Earl.  Sometimes we would like to say, 'Enough is enough!'  Then God gives us strength to go another step.  How would we manage without God in our lives?  I wish I lived closer to give you a helping hand and big hugs!

Today was breakfast out with the siblings for my birthday.  KDon drove and when I got in the car, he asked me where to go.  I said, 'Well, since you asked, I'd like to go to IHOP.'  So we went to IHOP and it was just as good if not better than I remembered.  I got an Apple Fritter with two eggs, bacon, sausage and hash browns AND coffee.  Yummm!  No lunch for me!  Maybe something this evening!

It is bright and sunny today...all week it has been rainy and cloudy.  First thing this morning it was foggy but now the sun has burnt off the fog.  I almost opened my windows to let in fresh air.  The heat pump was working this morning.  I hate to get the humidity in the house and then the A/C-heat pump unit would have to work twice as hard to get out the humidity.  So will probably leave the windows closed.

Wish I were going to Branson.  That sounds like so much fun!!!  Been there once and it was such an enjoyable couple of days!

Good Morning, Janice having made my living being a Caregiver, I  was fortunate enough to get to go home at night, however those in the middle of the night calls, really got to me after awhile.  I pray that you will find someone to give you a break, 24 hour care is so hard on you and you have to take care of yourself too.

Not much going on here yet this morning, I have to take a prescription to Bi-Mart in a little bit so I will also have to get dressed and ready to go, I sure can't go looking like I do right now

Etta Sue I am glad you enjoyed you birthday and your breakfast at IHOP. I have not been out to breakfast in years. When I still lived in Stockton Ca. I worked for Office Depot, IHOP was in the same parking lot, when we had to go to work at 6am  we always ordered take out from IHOP to have breakfast before the store opened at 9am. the store paid for our breakfast.

That would be nice, Marilyn, for the company to order breakfast in for us. :)

I'm ready to prepare to go to the 9-11 commemoration service at one of our larger interdenominational churches this evening. Since I'm diabetic, it requires some creative meal planning, for we have to leave in 2 hours in order to get a handicapped parking place and actually a place to sit in the auditorium! Mike Huckabee is to be the speaker this evening. I plan to take a bag with water and an Extend bar - a meal replacement that is specially formulated to hold a diabetic's blood sugar within norml ranges for 9 hours. Walgreens is having a nationwide special on them right now, which makes them affordable for me.

Well, better go get ready. Y'all have an inspirational day with our Lord and Saviour.

Love to all,
Ruth Ann

Larry: I had been told, when we moved here, that the apple tree produced Ice Apples...... now I am not so sure. They make DELICIOUS apple pies!! A little tart for eating....
They are ripe when the skin is yellowish green and the flesh is white. They start falling the first week in September and it is an ongoing task to pick them up before the deer have their fill. This morning I saw about six deer enjoying their fill. Because I was preparing a pie for our church BBQ, I left them alone. There are plenty left on the tree AND I have not used up all the ones I froze last year....... I should take a picture.

Janice: Keeping you and Earl in prayer.

JudyB: The picnic/BBQ was marvelous....  about 30 children; age group from 2 to 17  and many parents & grandparents and friends. My grass needs cutting too..... mmmmm

Greetings to everyone on C.P.

I am back home from Lakin.  What a wonderful, restful and inspiring day!  Good speaker, good food, good fellowship--what more could a person ask?  Patty becomes a better speaker all the time, each time I hear her, I am inspired.

It's another lovely day here, weather-wise, too!  8)
